I was kind of thinking though, surely if this is a survivor with positive boon totems, that wouldn't be a witch? Witches are bad aren't they? So i think maybe it could be some sort of actress with perks that are magic in a way
Well, witches are bad in plenty of literary fiction, yes, but they're also good in others.
For example, in Harry Potter, I believe the students are referred to as witches and wizards. Witch is just kind of a generic term for 'female magic user' in a lot of media.

I don't know. Trapper is always going to he inherently weaker than a good portion of the roster because he has to set up. Killer's like Blight and Wraith can just instantly begin to chase and oppress.

The differences you list are laughable. They're still incredibly comparable. It's like saying "oh you can't compare dark souls to bloodborne because one doesn't have shields." Of course you can. Everything you listed are examples of similar games. Yes, they have differences, that's why we can compare them.
Which is a better detective series, Sherlock Holmes or Poirot? Oh well you can't compare them because Poirot has a moustache!
They are comparable in the way they have pre-determined characters with pre-determined skills and weapons. That's it.
TF2 is a game set in the 50's, the characters can change their load out and they have no skills. It has nine playable "classes". As far as I remember, TF2 has a ton of different game modes. The customization is through different pieces of clothing. The game also heavily relies on its community, because the devs have basically abandoned it.
Paladins is a game set in a fantasy world, the characters are stuck with one weapon loadout and rather depend on talents and cards to change the way they play. They also have skills. There are 51 playable characters in Paladins. The game only has three game modes, with added limited time game modes. If I remember correctly, the customization is a lot more cut and dry with skins and weapon skins. I forgot to mention the shop system in match to buff you. You earn credits the better you do.
Overwatch is a game set in the future. The characters have no customization in the way they play. The characters have skills. There are 32 playable characters, and Overwatch has a wider variety of revolving game mode, but the main queue only has three or four gamemodes as far as I remember.
I could go father if you want me to.
-
I feel like your talking about VHS here, since that's the newest game in a long line of "competition."
At a surface level, they are comparable. At least, to the general public. Both games are 4v1, with that 1 being a monstrous killer of some kind. The deeper you look, the more the games are different, but most people aren't going to look deeper. They're gonna see two 4v1 games that have a killer as a playable character.
It's like people comparing TF2 to Overwatch or Paladins to Overwatch. All those games are similar in the way that they are all hero shooters. The comparisons stop there, pretty much. The mechanics of the games are all different, the way they work. TF2 has a Loadout system, Paladins has a skill system, Overwatch is "pick character and your done". But most people just see "HERO SHOOTER" and compare them. That's just how it works.
-
Unless VHS comes out with an established player-base and a few exciting licenses... No.
Hopefully it'll provide some sort of competition, even if the two are complete different games.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure I haven't mentioned anything about politics.
I elaborated on this further, but I'm comparing your posts to posts about LGBT+ characters that have been on the Forum before. Most of them inevitably ended up closed because this forum just can't handle it, for some reason. It's a major point of contention and somebody always brings politics in. I shouldn't have insinuated that you brought them up, that was a panic. At the same time, you shouldn't insinuate BHVR are sexist, which you definitely did with the sentence
"Is it really that difficult for a professional game dev team to design a female character without making her a pretty little murder victim?"
Like I said, if you want more female killers, that's fine. I agree. But blaming BHVR for this isn't going to improve anything. Most of their original female characters are much more than just a pretty face, imo.
-
@Orion said:
I don't know why people keep bringing up politics in response to what is ostensibly a matter of mathematics, but you're completely right, OP, we need more female killers.
Because, as evident by all the LGBT threads made before, this kind of talk is for some reason a huge point of contention. I may be wrong, but I feel like this is inevitably going to end up with people just slinging insults at eachother, and then probably closed.
The OP was needlessly aggressive about the topic, which just makes it worse.
-
"The devs should communicate more." They said, "They don't talk to us enough!" they said...
-
If you want more female killers, that's fine, but don't treat it as some crime. All that will do is make people angry and inevitably get this thread closed because guess what- We aren't allowed to talk politics on this part of the forum. It's like your screaming for attention.

Candyman in the Springtrap costume.

Buff Solos then Buff Killers accordingly. There. Fixed.
There is literally no way to nerf SWF without punishing Solo's for no reason.

If his lunge was nerfed, hit and run wouldn't be so effective.
If his lunge was nerfed, all you would see from Wraith is hit and run. He has literally no other chase capability.
If you take away his only chase, you get more Wraith's relying on hit and run. I don't see how people don't get this.
But who am I talking to? You're right, nerf Monstrous Shrine. OP perk.

Huntress is broken so im not wrong
You aren't wrong, but ######### up hitboxes probably won't be enough to earn a disabling.

The mods have already stated the killswitch will be reserves for game breaking bugs only.

It's probably going to be used when an exploit or bug has the potential to break the game or cause serious issues for the other side
You could still play Clown or Nightmare when Hindered wasn't working, it was hard, but playable like a normal match
Stuff like Infinite Mending on Legion would get the Blade add ons disabled, for example (or maybe Legion altogether? I don't remember if they could disable specific add ons yet), or the Breakdown bug would get the perk disabled
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2516903#Comment_2516903
Yeah, maybe that is the only "valid" reason, but we have no idea how "easy" it would be for hackers to access it
The thing is, I don't even know if it's possible for anyone but BHVR to access it. I assume this is a process similar to disabling maps, and if hackers could access that, they probably already would have done.

They aren't that dumb to permanently disable a character.
I play nurse fairly irregularly and whatever bugs she may have they aren't gamebreaking for me. With clown and freddy's hindered bug, it made the power not work as intended.
While none of her bugs are nearly as bad as the hindered bug, they are numerous. It can make her a pain to play sometimes.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2516882#Comment_2516882
I'm personally wondering if it'll be used for when a bug puts a killer at a disadvantage? For example i remember when hindered wasn't working and it made clown's and freddy's power 50% useless
If that is the case, what somebody else said is true and we'll never see Nurse again.
I hope this change actually gets us more effort when it comes to bug-fixing.

It's fine if they want to complain
But jesus christ even flat earthers can try and give some sort of "justification" for what they think is right, at least try and explain WHY you think something is bad/good
The only possible reasons I could think of this being bad is Hackers being able to access it, which I doubt is even possible.
I can think of no other reason. At least not a good one.

@Lycidas said:

Care to explain how? Give some though about it? if you want to play this game I can simply write "It's going to be good" and we can go on until the mid-chapter update, when you realize BHVR is NOT going to disable things just because "Oh, poor little Jimmy can't win against Huntress, let's disable her for 3 weeks!"
You forget this is the DbD forums, where people will complain about anything. Even things that are objectively good for the game.
-
@TheStabbiNAngeL said:

With enough complaints seems like they'll disable a character, because survivor's are tired of loosing because they didn't win with their Spine chill and PTYS combo.
This isn't going to be used for balance, at least from what they said in the Dev update. This seems to be purely for bugged things.
-
Abusable by who? Presumably, only the Devs can use it. In fact, it should stop abuse.
This means the devs can just disable a character if they have something bugged and broken. Remember infinite mending legion? Instead of banning people who play that build on purpose, they disable the add-ons until they can fix it. No having to face it for two weeks.
Remember when Wake Up granted a 15% bonus to everything? When Breakdown broke hooks permanently? They disable the perks. No more having to face it for two weeks until they can get a hotfix out.
I have no idea how this is a bad change.
-
The same reason I assume Legion isn't getting one, he's hopefully getting his own.
I hope the list of killers getting a full pass include Myers and Pig, even though they are getting some changes.

The patch notes say so, but the patch notes say a lot of stuff.
I don't play Twins so I don't know. I'll check a little bit later.
Edit: According to @OneCagedHeart it has been fixed. Maybe it's still buggy and isn't always fixed if OP still hears it?

Nothing you stated had any impact on Spirit or Bubba.
Sure, the stats are old af. But its everything we have. Because lets face it, OPs experience with Spirit is subjective and skill based.
My experience when playing against Spirit is very different and yours probably too. So some sort of baseline where we agree on is a must.
The main issue is the idea that the pickrates stayed anywhere similar is a gigantic assumption. Which, to be fair, my statement is too.
I don't think everybody will ever agree on Spirit. There are already people saying her nerf isn't enough, it's too much. Everything in between.

Neither Spirit nor Bubba have been changed since the release of those stats. So they are still representative on their relative strength.
Strength, sure. But pickrates, we have no idea.
People that play Spirit could have gone to Wraith when he got buffed, maybe the people who play Bubba went to Trickster or Nemesis.
This was at a time where Blight was bugged to all hell, so he wasn't played nearly as much as he is today. It's entirely feasible that Spirit mains went to Blight after his changes. Not to mention the matchmaking changes.
Nothing changes the fact the stats are incredibly old as far it goes to this game. The HUD hadn't changed yet, the Realm Beyond had just started, Pallet Validation wasn't a thing.
-
I'll match you with the bet that people will complain he isn't strong enough too.

I mean, Spirit didn´t had a high kill rate. She was below Pig and Bubba. So enjoy encountering more Bubbas!
God I hope BHVR learned their lesson and never show stats again, this community can't handle it.
It's been over a year since these stats were released. Four killers have been released, with a bunch of buffs and nerfs alongside. The stats are outdated, and they don't matter anymore.
-
"We won"
Good spirits will still probably be just as powerful tho. The nerfs don't kill her, as much as some people seem to think they do, at least as far as I can tell. Spirit still controls the chase.

but Peanits confirmed part 2 of the dev update will be as packed as part 1.
we know that the new surv and boon totems will probably be featured, but other than that there is not too much that it could be. And as was said, it’s been a while since the last map rework.
Well, then one can only hope. Personally, I'm more hoping the Mori and Key reworks are bundled in there, but I definitely wouldn't say no to a few map overhauls.
-
Did they say they were reworking more maps this mid-chapter? I haven't seen anything on it.
-
I would worry about people complaining, but I don't think enough people play Oni for anybody to care.

So perks aren't allowed to synergize with powers?

And rightly so.
Oni is one of my favorite killers. Top Knot is ridiculous that turns Demon Dash to easy-mode.

Oni just wanted a day off, leave him alone.
-
Finally...
His time has come.
-
Blood Warden is a fine perk. Your original post is just... All wrong. The EGC lasts two minutes, and is slowed by 100% when someone is hooked or downed
The killer has to wait until the halfway point for Blood Warden to actually kill. If the survivors wait too long to either unhook, BW will not kill.
If somebody opens the gate and you suspect BW, leave.
Accept your losss and stop asking for nerfs on a c-tier perk, Jesus.
-
Iron Will would be fine if it didn't seemingly ######### with the rest of the audio the way it does.
Sometimes I can still hear breathing and footsteps even if they have IW, sometimes their completely silent. That's the only issue I have with the perk.

They're decent. Not enough to shake up the current meta, but decent. Vigil will be really good for getting Exhaustion back, which means somebody will complain about it soon.
