So because you can disable things that are exploits without the need of a full patch, which costs money, it's abuseable? Bearing in mind only the devs will have access to this
Abusable by who? Presumably, only the Devs can use it. In fact, it should stop abuse.
This means the devs can just disable a character if they have something bugged and broken. Remember infinite mending legion? Instead of banning people who play that build on purpose, they disable the add-ons until they can fix it. No having to face it for two weeks.
Remember when Wake Up granted a 15% bonus to everything? When Breakdown broke hooks permanently? They disable the perks. No more having to face it for two weeks until they can get a hotfix out.
With enough complaints seems like they'll disable a character, because survivor's are tired of loosing because they didn't win with their Spine chill and PTYS combo.

My only concern is that nurse is gonna be permanently disabled bc they can't fix her bugs to save their lives.
Bugged and exploitable are two different things. The Nurse is bugged, yes, but these bugs cannot be exploited for an advantage- they are almost all detriments.

This isn't going to be used for balance, at least from what they said in the Dev update. This seems to be purely for bugged things.
The only downside of the killswitch is that BHVR will be able to lock a character with you not even knowing about the exploit, but it's not BHVR's fault if people feel the need to exploit bugs to death and ruin it for others

Care to explain how? Give some though about it? if you want to play this game I can simply write "It's going to be good" and we can go on until the mid-chapter update, when you realize BHVR is NOT going to disable things just because "Oh, poor little Jimmy can't win against Huntress, let's disable her for 3 weeks!"

You forget this is the DbD forums, where people will complain about anything. Even things that are objectively good for the game.

That's not how it works.
The Kill Switch is going to be purely if there's an issue with something - so if a cosmetic is bugged, a perk is bugged (remember the issue with Breakdown Perk?). It will work on characters as well, but only if there's an actual issue with something. It's not if there's complaints about a character etc, but if there's an actual game breaking bug with something.

It's fine if they want to complain
But jesus christ even flat earthers can try and give some sort of "justification" for what they think is right, at least try and explain WHY you think something is bad/good

I'm personally wondering if it'll be used for when a bug puts a killer at a disadvantage? For example i remember when hindered wasn't working and it made clown's and freddy's power 50% useless

The only possible reasons I could think of this being bad is Hackers being able to access it, which I doubt is even possible.
I can think of no other reason. At least not a good one.

My only problem with killswitching characters is i cant play a killer i paid for until the next patch comes around. Which would kinda suck since say nemesis got disabled. Hes one of my best killers.

it can be used for any game breaking thing basically, be that a perk, an item, character, cosmetic even...it's not about whether it's survivor or killer.

If that is the case, what somebody else said is true and we'll never see Nurse again.
I hope this change actually gets us more effort when it comes to bug-fixing.

They aren't that dumb to permanently disable a character.
I play nurse fairly irregularly and whatever bugs she may have they aren't gamebreaking for me. With clown and freddy's hindered bug, it made the power not work as intended.
I'm personally wondering if it'll be used for when a bug puts a killer at a disadvantage? For example i remember when hindered wasn't working and it made clown's and freddy's power 50% useless
It's probably going to be used when an exploit or bug has the potential to break the game or cause serious issues for the other side
You could still play Clown or Nightmare when Hindered wasn't working, it was hard, but playable like a normal match
Stuff like Infinite Mending on Legion would get the Blade add ons disabled, for example (or maybe Legion altogether? I don't remember if they could disable specific add ons yet), or the Breakdown bug would get the perk disabled
But then if there's a game breaking bug with that character, that's surely for the best yes?
Yeah i guess so. What constitutes the line for gamebreaking though? I mean pinhead had a bug on release he literally could not lunge. Or Nemesis would cause the game to crash when hed pull out a tentacle was another on release bug.

Causing the game to crash would definitely be considered game breaking.
A characters lunge not working as it should - probably not

Different game but Valorant have disabled their agents in the past due to gamebreaking exploits, for example one of the Agents could place their turret underneath the map and it'd shoot you no matter how far you were. Another agent has been disabled a lot because he was always teleporting underneath the map unintentionally.
I guess in Dead by Daylight it can be considered gamebreaking if it holds the game hostage or somehow puts everyone at a disadvantage.
it can be used for any game breaking thing basically, be that a perk, an item, character, cosmetic even...it's not about whether it's survivor or killer.
Are you guys able to disable specific add ons as well?
I'm thinking about bugs like the Infinite Mending Legion, where stacking both Blade add ons would exponentially increment the time needed to mend (I don't know if I'm allowed to post a video that shows that, it's been fixed long ago)

Yes it would work for addons, cosmetics, items etc etc
The same principle will probably apply ,as to how survivor's get killer's nerfed if you're able to perform a certain action that wasn't intended is this considered a exploit ,so if i bounce off a hill land over an obstacle with blight and down a survivor, will this be considered an exploit and they'll just disable the character or map.

Yeah, maybe that is the only "valid" reason, but we have no idea how "easy" it would be for hackers to access it
The thing is, I don't even know if it's possible for anyone but BHVR to access it. I assume this is a process similar to disabling maps, and if hackers could access that, they probably already would have done.
They aren't that dumb to permanently disable a character.
I play nurse fairly irregularly and whatever bugs she may have they aren't gamebreaking for me. With clown and freddy's hindered bug, it made the power not work as intended.
While none of her bugs are nearly as bad as the hindered bug, they are numerous. It can make her a pain to play sometimes.

Survivors do not get killers nerfed!
If an action isn't intended by design - that is the very definition of an exploit. The discussion then, is whether or not something would be considered "game breaking". Like we've done wiht maps recently, if something is considered to be bad enough, that map is removed from rotation - if Dwight has the ability to go invisible for example, Dwight would be removed from rotation.

That's not true they got thing's nerfed for The Executioner, Nurse,Spirit,Billy.Killers aren't the ones complaining ,I don't want to pay for a new killer then he's disabled on release for two weeks while the leeches go make a spiffy new guide for him ,based off something, I did.

I think you're bitter over something and adopted a bad mentality
No one is out to get the "Nasty killers" because they are hurting the "Kind survivors"
The game doesn't work like that, and the killswitch will definitely NOT be used like that
If there is something broken that doesn't work as intended, and people found a way of using it unfairly against the other side (killer or survivor, no matter which one), that broken thing is going to be disabled until is fixed
It's a simple and effective concept, nothing less, nothing more
Think about all the things that could be prevented if devs had the killswitch in the past:
Infinite Mending Legion? Add ons disabled
Infinite Undetectable with Tinkerer? Tinkerer disabled
Infinite broken hooks with Breakdown? Breakdown disabled
Fat shaming spot on ANY particular map where killer can't go through? That map gets disabled
Jake has a way of having an invisible torso? The bugged cosmetic gets disabled
There is a spot on Swamp where killers can't pick up a survivor? Swamp gets disabled
How can you think that something like that is bad?

I'm sorry do we use the same forums?
You probably read into too much if, they do complain and when is a complaint,it's more to make something viable for killer side.
I guess we definitely don't use the same website then.
