@TheBean Why shouldn't good players have to play on higher ranks? Why do you think experienced players should play against inexperienced ones?
-
Didn't you notice that the old matchmaking got deactivated again?
-
So, is your problem about the Emblem system or the matchmaking or about killers tunneling + camping? Because your post feels more like a post about camping killers.
Btw: You don't get Emblem points for dull totems and chests.
-
@nunadventures Assuming that everybody is on the rank they belong to: Imagine a rank 10 killer getting looped by a rank 1 surv. That's not good, isn't it? I think the highest surv rank should have a bigger impact on the matchmaking.
-
The devs said some time ago that luck only affects your chances in freeing yourself from hooks and out of beartraps and they are planning for luck to affect chests. I never heard that they actually implemented the change so I would say, no, luck does not affect chests.
-
It should be the priority to match people with close ranks with each other, but I am against a strict lock.
Concerning SWF: The highest survivor rank could be the desicive factor when it comes to getting matched with a killer. How about that?

He is called "Ashley" (right?), which is predominantly a female name. :P
@PigNRun If you want to be exact, "Ashley" is originally a male name. It's gender neutral for a long time, anyway. In the end, it doesn't really matter. I don't think everybody here knows The Evil Dead.

No. Just make it a normal hex totem like ruin, devour hope, and haunted ground. Enough of this "if it's dull you should be scared" BS. Dull totems are meant to be padding for score, not a catalyst for bad players to get free reward
@PickCollins So yes, you want it to be a shiny totem from the start of the trial? It would not survive to the endgame. Or do you mean it should be active from the start, as the other hex totems?

@Aven_Fallen I agree. There's nothing wrong with hiring more experienced help. BHVR isn't a small indie company anymore, so they should also have some experienced employees who can help the young ones. And yes, it's not necessary for every aspect of the game. I love their arts team's work, for example.
-
@Aven_Fallen I don't know the algorithm so I can only assume how it currently works: At first, the matchmaking tries to put people together with a similar rank. If that doesn't work, these people go to queue B. Now, in queue B everybody gets mixed together which results in red ranks playing with yellow ranks.
It should be the other way: The algorithm considers everybody in a big group of people and matches those with each other who are close in rank: red with purple, purple with green, green with yellow etc.
Writing an algorithm isn't easy. It wouldn't be shameful if the devs would hire a mathematician to write them an algorithm. They don't have to do that themselves.

I've tested MoM and it doesn't work when the killer uses their power, let's say you're against a nurse.... Well unless she chooses to not blink and hit you three times to get your stacks you won't get them, once activated it will prevent you from the dying state for that one hit but it's really only gonna be effective against m1 killers who don't use their power to hit you, the perk totally relies on the killer not using their power which with a nurse that's most likely not gonna happen, also spirit will have this effect if she can hit the survivors coming out of phase instead of while running. But once you've activated the perk it doesn't matter if they use power or not it's just to gain the stacks to use it
@OrionsFury4789 That has to be a bug that you don't get stacks in that situation. You should not get stacks for killer's abilities like Huntress' hatchets or the chainsaws - but Nurse's hit after she blinked? That can't be intended, it has to be a bug.
-
@Sinner said:
For me they don't raise that reaction of "Oh wow, I have to get that perk", you know?
With almost every killer, they get a perk like that. I haven't seen one of these survivor perks since David.
@Sinner Flip Flop is great for SWF groups. And MoM can be great for good loopers.

Are you really going to complain about useless threads?
@Topic:
I dont think that his Perks will have such a big impact, but we will see... Flip-Flop will be controversial to begin with, but I doubt that even this Perk will find its way into the Meta.
@Aven_Fallen Flip-Flop has great potential for SWF. We will see if these groups are going to use it or not. Maybe it will get overlooked, but that doesn't change the perk's power.

1- what If I don't have friends on steam or online in general
2- if more than 75 % of survivors self care against legions with sloppy that means devs SHOULD look at the problem . not just say like you said.. ooooh its ur fault ...not the devs
3- thanks for agreeing with the bp issue which is frustraiting
@harry14141414 It's not a problem to find people willing to play with you. If you meet a random good player in-game, then just ask them if they want to play together from time to time. I've met several people this way. (Alternatively, you can ask here in the forum for fellow players.)
And if 75% of the survs selfcare against Legion, then these 75% have to learn how to play better. Yes, it's the survs' own fault if they play bad. Sometimes it's that simple. That's why I am suggesting SWF for you if random mates frustrate you too much.
-
@Master Stay fair. Three years ago, a lot of today's players didn't play the game. Also, there were also players complaining about high-rank survs going against inexperienced killers.
-
MoM and Flip Flop sound great for survivors. What more can you wish for?
-
@harry14141414 A game has to be balanced around its top players, not around bad or mediocre or relatively good players. That's not exclusive to DbD.
-
You aren't the only one, it happens to many other players. I don't see why the devs are matching the red ranks with yellows when it feels like there are enough purples and greens available.
-
So we now know that Ash is coming solo, without a killer.
@Master Yes, it's very likely that the perks will be coming to the game without further changes. It will be interesting to see how often MoM and Flip Flop are going to be played.
-
@Milo Okay. Thanks for clarifying. 😊
-
@Aven_Fallen I see how it is hard for red ranks to find other red rank players with the current pipping system. However, shouldn't there be enough purple ranks to get matched with the reds? There are definitely enough greens. No need to match reds with yellows.
-
I'm confused. In the description of DS is still mentioned that DS increases your chances of being the obsession (how it was before the rework). So isn't it more like a bug if somebody who has no obsession perk becomes the obsession?

Love how I offer a valid alternative to the current NOED and people jump on me and make all these assumptions. My only problem with LF right now is that his chainsaw is bugged and doesn't make noise. But that's a bug so.
This forum 🤦♂️
@thesuicidefox I like your idea. I don't really have a problem with how NOED works but I'm not a fan of the additional speed bonus. Maybe you should make your suggestion a thread. You would have at least one supporter. Maybe there are more. ☺️
-
It is a bug. I had this happen to me a couple of times since the last update. I didn't have any obsession perks, the killer didn't have any obsession perks, the killer didn't have any obsession add-ons. Yet I was the obsession. It's a bug.

Cleansing totems it not more annoying than repairing gens. The issue is that NOED is tied to dull totems and not live ones. If it was just a live totem, I'd have much less of an opposition to it. I don't think it's fair that survivors should have to worry about dull totems. And I think that if they do, they shouldn't have to worry about Bloodlust to compensate. If a killer with either higher base move speed than a survivor (Or blinks if ur the Nurse) cannot catch a survivor, I don't think they deserve a speed boost to get their job done.
@PickCollins You mean NOED should be a shiny totem from the start of the trial? That would make it useless.
Also, you can force a killer to lose their bloodlust. Blind them or force them to break a pallet. And don't forget that Bloodlust got nerfed. What we are currently dealing with as Bloodlust tier 3 is the old Bloodlust tier 2.
-
@Hexyl Exactly my point.

I'll never understand the motivation behind these types of posts. It's like some dude who went to a swimming pool for 2 years. Enjoyed the pool, but for whatever reason doesn't like swimming any more. Instead of just going on with his life he has to go back to the pool to take a dump in it before he leaves.
@Dreamnomad Maybe he would like to continue going to the pool. He just doesn't like the recent changes that have been made to the pool.
-
@Hexyl There is a difference between an assist that smoothes animations and an actual aim assist. And as I said, after I read your first point, I didn't continue to read. I see no sense in discussing a non-existent aim assist any further.
-
@Hexyl It's not an aim assist. It's an animation assist. The assist does not make hitboxes collide which wouldn't have collided. If you want to complain about hitboxes, that would be another thing. But claiming killers just have to blindly m1 to get their automatic hit is simply untrue. Just play a match as a killer and you will notice that there is no auto aim.
What you described just now is an animation correction.
-
I stopped after reading the first point. DbD has no auto aim. The assist only makes for a smoother animation, nothing more. Hitboxes collide, it's a hit. Have you played one single match as a killer?
-
Why is cleansing totems more annoying than repairing gens?
-

Why would you want to make the game unfun for the person who is slugged, its ######### ######### im one of those ppl if i see someone teabagging i DC for them, why da fack would i want to blled out cause killer cant properly 4k.
@Vampirox Have you ever played killer? How is a killer supposed to get a 4k without slugging when the last person standing doesn't play bad?
-
@Maximus7 What you describe is another issue. Just hiding somewhere on the map in order to troll the killer is taking the game hostage and a bannable offense.
What the op describes is annoying, but no bannable offense. In my post above I linked to another thread where we discussed a solution one week ago.
-
Besides the bp topic, you are describing only bad play of survivors. That's just how it is when you play solo surv. Sometimes you get good mates, sometimes your mates selfcare against Legion with Sloppy Butcher.
If the survs play bad, it's not the devs' fault. If playing with random teammates frustrates you too much, play SWF.
-
@Soulslayer618 Okay. If you don't hit with hatchets, it can be pretty hard to hit a good looper with the normal attack at only 110% speed. Nevertheless, that's how it is supposed to be at the moment. You should force the survivors out.
About one or two weeks ago, we had a discussion here in the forum about a "give up" option for killers after the gens are done. If such a feature would exist, it would be a big help. Let me see if I can find that thread again.
Edit: Here is the thread: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/52730/let-killers-leave-after-gates-open/p1
If you'd like to have the "give up" function, you can write it in the thread. I think it's a great idea. ☺️
-
That would just be a way of nerfing killers, so no.
In general, I'm not a fan of making luck a more important factor of the game. Let skill decide, not luck.
-
Why couldn't you hit them? Were you practicing Nurse? Usually you can force the survivors out as long as they don't hide somewhere on the map.
-
@LilZombieGurl Dull totems and chests don't count for Emblem points. Tunnelling and camping have been a thing before the new pipping system. And while they are annoying, they aren't unfair. Unfair are cheats and hacks.
Yes, the new pipping system doesn't work properly, but the reason is another one.
-
What Aven_Fallen said. It's similar to Ebony Mori. In some cases it's balanced, in other cases it's unbalanced. It depends on solo/SWF, survivors' equipment, map, which killer is played.
-

I actually really like this idea, those players probably still wouldn't pip though which is a problem
@PhantomMask20763 The Emblem system is not my favourite when it comes to pipping.
What I'd prefer is not only removing the 8k bp cap per category but also making pipping bp-related again.
That way, the surv who gets 20k in Boldness for keeping the killer busy the entire game could still pip because of the high amount of bp.
-
@Kagrenac said:
Tenacity doesn't affect recovery speed, only Unbreakable does that. Tenacity allows you to recover while you move.
@Kagrenac The op never claimed that Tenacity would affect recovery speed. 50% is the normal recovery speed and the op stated it could stay the same. op was only writing about crawl speed.
To the original topic: I could see a 75% bonus still working. How about that?
-
@JoannaVO I wouldn't say that. The amount of gens and unhooks is limited, so survivors compete for work = emblem points. If survs split the work fairly, nobody gets enough points for a pip in the high ranks. It works in the midranks but not in the red ranks where you need 13 points.
-
@Nickenzie Silver Benevolence? But what when the killer camps and the surv can't perform an unhook? Or another surv is simply faster at the hook?
Or Iridescent Lightbringer? That will only happen if the other teammates are hiding in a corner so the surv can do their work as well. If survs split the work, nobody will get Iridescent Lightbringer.
-
Imho the biggest issues for players are the dc's, the matchmaking and the content of the last two chapters. Players were hyped for the Clown and were very happy about Kate, players loved the Spirit...
-
@JawsIsTheNextKiller The new system had big problems. It couldn't stay that way.
The devs keep working on the matchmaking and I hope they can go live with a reworked, better version soon.
-
I'd like it if the devs would remove the 8k bp cap per category (while keeping the overall cap of 32k bp).
If the category cap was removed, those players who keep the killer busy could still get their fair amount of bp, for example.
I keep saying that and it's nice to see that other players also come to the same conclusion.
-
The devs said on twitter that they are working on improving the matchmaking. So it's just temporary.
I think it was necessary to revert. New and inexperienced players got scared off by having to play against red ranks. And you got matched with players from all over the world, so you often had bad pings.
-
Solo takes 10 minutes for you? I get instant lobbies as solo. Are you in the red ranks?
-
My basic problem with your suggestion is the same: It rewards people who sit in the corner of the map and don't do anything. Bronze is basically nothing: It's half a gen and you already start with bronze in Benevolence.
How Evader currently works is basically fine. It rewards you points when you keep the killer busy in a chase (which takes skill) and it awards you points when you are close to the killer but remain undetected (which takes skill). It doesn't make sense to reward survivors with points when they are 60 meters away from the killer.
Your argument is that it is the job of the survivors to stay away from the killer, so there should be a reward. But that's not correct: The job of the survivors is to survive. How they achieve this goal is up to them. So if you take approach from this direction, as consequence you would have to say, the only thing relevant for pipping is survival.
