That's one of the reasons why a lot of us say that MoM is too powerful. You don't even have to be a coordinated SWF for that.
The killer can't do anything. If the exit gates are open, it's game over.
-
@Someissues said:
You are doing it wrong. You are not meant to heal against the Legion
@Someissues It's not about healing, it's about mending. Certain add-ons are currently bugged and can lead to insane mending times. We need a bug fix for this asap.
-
@ClogWench Pretty much so. If it weren't for the bonus BP, I wouldn't use BBQ. Too many survs are hiding their auras nowadays.
-
@Sinner Maybe more survivors started looping because they realized that the chase is what's most fun about DbD? There might be some players who feel hiding is more fun but I don't think it's the majority.
-
Too powerful with experienced players.
-
IIRC the old problem/bug with Deliverance was that luck offerings messed with it. So if it wasn't for an unsafe unhook (but then the perk wouldn't be active), that might be the reason?
-
What would be the benefit for the killer when the red stain is hidden when they aren't in a chase?
Isn't it more useful to not have the red stain while in a chase?
-
What about matchmaking?
-
@Gamzello "By any chance, does anyone know if MoM gets affected by NOED or not?"
Once you have your stacks, MoM is supposed to ignore the next attack that would bring you from injured to dying state. That means, if you are healthy, you will get downed by NOED.
-
@Aven_Fallen Of course you can know that things are unbalanced without having to try them. You don't have to actually try bad things just to prove that they are indeed bad.
If you are simply annoyed by MoM discussions, that's another thing.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
So you say that I cannot give any valuable statement because it is too soon? But everyone crying about it, can? Doublestandards, wohoo.
I would even bet that it will not be used that often.
Well, I can obviously only speak for my games. But BHVR does see the overall ratio. No reason to make fun of my post. Quite weak.
@Aven_Fallen That's not what I wrote.
1) You say you don't see a lot of MoM. That's because this perk is new.
2) MoM is too powerful. A lot of people could tell from only reading the description a couple of weeks ago. But now that the perk has been released, we have also already seen examples for MoM being too powerful in matches.
1) and 2) don't contradict. Double standards are something completely different.
-
@tt_ivi_99 That's why I wrote "supposed to be". Imho being the obsession isn't that immense of a threat.
-
The downside is probably supposed to be that you are more likely to suffer from the killer's obsession perks (if they use one). You make yourself the target of Rancor etc.

Have you tried SWF? Playing solo is maybe not for you cuz it has a lot of situations without action. With swf you can talk about private stuff or coordinate like a swat team which can be fun. Give it a try if you want to. Otherwise have a good time till autumn, but don't expect huge changed till then. It's going to be the same experience most likely
@DwightsLifeMatters Maybe SWF queue times are too long.
@Master Bye, see you then.

I hope you also take into account the number of people using MoM. Because in my games I rarely see MoM used. I am either Solo or part of a 2 Man SWF, but other Survivors dont use this Perk. And I rarely see any Ashs after Release Day.
I couldnt care less about a change of this Perk, because I am not using it, but it is ridiculous that people cry about it even before it is actually live for a longer time to give ACTUAL Feedback and not just Doomsday scenarios.
@Aven_Fallen This perk has only been released a couple of days ago. A lot of players have to farm more bloodpoints to get the teachable. You will see it more often in the next days/weeks.
-
It's a double-edged sword. Focussing on bugs & balance would be good for the game's health. But new content is also important to keep players playing/bring players back.
-
@Nickenzie It should be common sense to not insult other people. There's a difference between insulting and talking about mistakes/criticizing.
-
@pungent_stench What has MoM to do with tunneling? Nothing. Or does it count as tunneling if you want to hit a survivor a 4th time during the course of an entire match?
-
"As the community, we should be directing the developers in a better direction, not chide them for their mistakes."
I think that is what the majority here is already doing. We love this game and we want it to get better. But we can't talk about what needs to be improved without saying what's wrong.
The important thing is: Everybody should be respectful. Simply talking about mistakes doesn't equal chiding and mistakes don't have to be so bad as long as you learn from them.

I reckon buff it to 200% BUT amalgamate it with No Mither, give David a new unique perk. If people had to equip No Mither for the bonus BP, there would be better emphasis on safer saves.
@DudeDelicious I'd say keep the perks separated. No Mither should give bonus bloodpoints for being hard mode.
Btw, the old version of WGLF gave you up to 200% bonus bloodpoints.

Dedicated servers come out this summer, hopefully both the bugs and the intential disconnects will have some form of a solution by then.
Welcome to Dead by Daylight!! Just hang in there, cause the game can be quite fun.
@FreyatheKind Why should only dedicated servers bring a solution to intended dc's? The devs already know who is dc'ing and how often.
-
The change that I would like to see: Unsafe unhooks shouldn't give stacks anymore. Some survs just use this perk to farm their mates.
-
Like seriously, if mom wasn’t already a screw you to killers with no attack power, Freddy gets boned even further than he already has to deal with in the Adrenaline meta.
The problem with MoM is that it affects a lot of the weaker killers, not only Freddy. Also think of Doc, Trapper, Wraith...
Besides Freddy needing a rework, MoM needs an adjustment. Either make MoM's effect less powerful or at least give this perk a serious downside.

Correction i did a chainsaw hit with leatherface and apparently mom activated
@katoptris The chainsaw hit should not give you stacks for MoM. However, when it comes to the effect taking place (the hit not downing the surv), MoM protects the surv from all kind of attacks, not only basic attacks (according to the perk's description).

I dc only if: The killer is making the game unplayable for me, for example targeting only me for no apparent reason or blocking me so that I can do nothing but stand there, or something IRL happens.
One example for the first reason happened two days ago. I was the first to be found, a good 2 mins of chase, put on hook, for some reason only 1 gen done, I get saved by an Adam, as soon as I'm on the ground the heartbeat starts, I hide, Adam is injured, runs towards me, I start running, killer sees me, completely avoids Adam even tho he was closer, downs me, puts me on hook again, goes away, Adam saves me again, we run away, the heartbeat comes back four seconds later, we both hide behind something, the killer is coming, he clearly knows where we are but he's going to find Adam first, he sees Adam, Adam starts running, the killer avoids him knowing I'm there, downs me, I DC because I literally did nothing but run and staying on hook.
I was probably just salty but I was so pissed.
@LCGaster Regarding your example: The killer didn't make the game unplayable for you (like bodyblocking you in a corner), he simply tunneled you. That's in no way a reason to dc.
If you hate getting tunneled that much, bring tools that help you (perks, add-ons) and play SWF. Much harder for a killer to tunnel you that way.
-
Why is it important whether the old DS was more powerful than MoM or not? We should just take a look at perks and think about if they are balanced or not. The old DS was too powerful and MoM shouldn't stay the way it currently is. This is not a competition for the most unbalanced perk. 😐️
-
At the moment, a part of the player base seems to have a "dc mentality" where they just leave when they don't like how the match is going.
dc'ing for no valid reason is a bannable offense and I really hope that the devs soon take measures. There are too many dc's and it's hurting the fun immensely.

@Hoodedfengm1n Meh, I want to see killer variety. Not even more Hillis.
-
As long as the players stay polite, I don't see a reason why they shouldn't give feedback.
-
@thrawn3054 You could compare it to non-professional football hobby players. They play for fun but they would also like to win. Team S plays normal, Team K has to play with their shoes tied together at the laces. Team K would have more fun if the match was more balanced and they wouldn't have to play with their shoelaces tied together.

It's an unpopular opinion that I have but it's not always about survivors making the mistakes, it also about your skill as the killer as well. Whenever you sacrifice a survivor, you don't feel like it was soon fed to you because you had to perform mind games and give survivors that opportunity to screw up. Survivors failing for your mind games isn't always in their control, sometimes you played that mind game so well that they are forced to screw up or regardless of what they do, they risk taking a hit. You see this a lot with unsafe pallets such as the "-- |" loops, you force the survivor there and you fake one side. They either vault and take a hit or risk the possibility of you not faking and take a hit. It's a guessing game that the killer controls and yes, I'll admit, time is always a factor against killers. However, if we were to rework the survivors' objectives, killers would be fine. At the end of the day, not every game will be easy and you'll have to do more than usual to earn your kills. The same applies for survivors when their teammates are performing poorly.
Note of appreciation: Even through we don't agree on most topics, I appreciate our civilized conversations (even when I'm wrong). ❤
@Nickenzie As long as the killer isn't a Nurse, a chase will last a certain amount of time if the survivor doesn't make mistakes. There are safe routes where the killer can't do anything. Where the killer doesn't have the chance to try mindgames. Some perks help prolonging the chase.
If the survs play well, the killer will lose. That's just the current state of the game because killers don't have enough time. That doesn't mean that a player can't win most of his games as killer. Not every survivor group is a good group. Often one single survivor makes a big enough mistake to get the entire team killed. But these are simply cases of the survivors needing to get better.
When a "very good" killer doesn't win against a "good" group of survivors because of perks and items, then the game isn't balanced.
Btw, I like long chases. Chases are the fun part of DbD. Just give the survivors a 2nd objective so that the killer has more time for chases.
And yeah, I also appreciate our discussions. 🐙 *alien hug*
-
@AshleyWB So like if you manage to get Irisdescent in Evader before getting hooked, you should get enough "camping compensation points" in order to not depip?
-
@ShaneQ How would exhaustion help? The survivor just needs to use Dead Hard/BL/Lithe before the use of MoM. And broken after MoM? That isn't a problem. The surv is injured and still in a chase anyway.
Or are you talking about a permanent broken effect until the end of the trial?
-
@AshleyWB But keep in mind: If you get found early in the game, get chased a bit and then camped to death, you will still depip.
-
@AshleyWB Are you only talking about bloodpoints or Emblem points as well? Do you want to get both while getting facecamped?

They make it stressful on themselves. All they need to do is play the game and not worry about how it goes. If I 4k, great. I get wrecked, there's always next game.
@thrawn3054 It's a competitive game. I'd say it's normal when a player wants to win.

I have no problems with MoM, I hope its not nerfed to oblivion. Maybe they could make it so if you fully heal it deactivates and can't be used or gives you a broken status for 30 seconds so you can't heal 99% then take a hit and fully heal. I personally don't believe the perk is that strong, its practically a one use dead hard
@ShaneQ It's not a one use Dead Hard, it's similar to the old Borrowed Time. It can help buy quite some time mid-game and it's super powerful when the exit gates are open.
-
Camping is annoying but it isn't unfair. Unfair are hacks and lag-switching.
If survivors would punish killers by just doing gens instead of feeding the killer, camping wouldn't be that big of a problem.
Anyway - you need 9 Emblem points for a safety pip. How many Emblem points do you want to get for getting camped?
-
Yes, that is one of Freddy's big weaknesses. During 7 seconds of dream transition he has to watch how gens finished, survivors get healed/picked up, totems get destroyed right in front of his eyes.
Dream Transition needs to at least interrupt survivors' actions.
-
To bring solo games closer to SWF level, built-in Kindred is one of many steps.
Don't forget that at the end of the day, killers also need to receive buffs because DbD currently isn't balanced for SWF.

I have never in all my hours of playing seen a survivor run the killer until all 5 gens are completed and the exit gates get open. It's just not possible; there's no if, and, or but about that.
Is this supposed to be a hyperbole or something for a long chase? A survivor can usually run the killer for 1 gen and 2 if the killer is terrible/the survivors are coordinated enough.
@Kagrenac A surv can absolutely keep the killer busy for 3 gens. That's only 80 seconds. It depends a bit on the map layout and for sure on the killer, of course. Nurse is something different than Leatherface.
If you add the right perks, toolboxes and an insta-heal, the chase can last 5 gens.

Nope, it is the Killers Job to do that. But, if the Killer is in a chase, just injured a Survivor (pretty quick) and abandones this chase to tunnel the person who just got unhooked, yes, this is not necessary. And yes, some Killers do this with 4 Gens left to go, I am not talking about situations where only 2 gens are missing and one person needs to be removed so that the Killer does not end with 4 Gens left and 4 Survivors alive.
You can be effective AND fair. Same goes for the Survivor Side. If there is that guy trolling and t-bagging, I am the last person blaming the Killer when he tunnels a Survivor who likes to behave like a little child and thinks it is ok to ruin the fun of others.
@Aven_Fallen Okay, then we can agree on that tunneling depends on the situation. When the killer needs to take a surv out of the game, tunneling is allowed.
-
@Hoodedfengm1n I look to a wall just in case. But most survivors can't blind Freddy when they aren't asleep. Jane is already dead. 😛
-
Pick up Ash and carry to a hook. Nobody blocks Freddy. 😊
-
@Hoodedfengm1n The Nurse-MoM thing is a bug. Hillbilly and Leatherface often can't use the chainsaw against good loopers and are forced to m1.
Healing against Legion is usually a waste of time. When you've finally healed up, Legion finds you again and you can start mending once more. Meanwhile, no gen progress.
-
@Mushwin That's good! Don't you dare becoming a surv main! I'm counting on you!
-
Maybe we should tell everyone that MoM isn't a good perk and not worth playing? Like the Legion mains who tell everyone they should heal against Legion? 😉
In all seriousness, MoM is a very good perk.
-
Please keep playing killer. We need killers. Think of my survivor queue times. 😭

You cant touch the same subject with two different standards.
Looping infinites is just a way to gain time, not to annoy killers.
The problem with tunneling is, that it takes away a lot of time from survivors. Too much time, when 1 survivor dies.
We're talking about base game balance here. No double standards for each side.
@Weederick Look how you left out the part where I wrote "at the current state of the game".
Currently, the game is heavily unbalanced. Killers are under immense time pressure, survivors aren't. Asking for balance isn't "double standards", it's the complete opposite.

Looping infinites also makes sense for survivors. Its total bullshit for the killer, but the most efficient way to play survivor. Any nerf or change to infinites is thus wrong. Nerfing the most efficient way to survive is obviously a bad thing.
@Weederick The "problem" with good looping spots is that they consume a lot of the killer's time. Too much of the killer's time, at the current state of the game.
Killers wouldn't complain about good looping spots when they would have enough time, maybe because there was a 2nd objective for survivors.
Tunneling is just a tool to save the killer time, not to annoy survivors.
