You can pretend that killers are more skilled than survivors they just lose because the game is imbalanced, or you can get better and learn to play the game instead of blaming your lack of skill on the developers.
While nobody is saying the game is perfectly balanced, skill works more or less the way it should. There are skilled killers who take me down in seconds and there are unskilled killers who can't find me or who I get to loop around the gyms for ages. A lot of it still comes down to luck and correct mind game guessing, but skill is a real component in this game.
Don't act like skilled killers will always lose to skilled survivors. The more skilled player who had luck on his side wins in this game, and it's a fact that killers have more control over their skill, because killers are a one-man show, everything depends on their skill. Survivors have to depend on their teammates, so if you are a skilled survivor with braindead teammates you are still probably going to die.
I really, really suggest that you start watching good killer streamers or that you start playing killer on a regular basis.

While it's true they haven't acknowledged it per se outside of Peanits agreeing Killers have too many things they need to do while playing, it's an undisputable fact that the devs have been taking the game into a gen-delay direction.
The last several chapters and patches have been giving us buffs to killer perks that slow down gen time.
This includes things like the attempted Thanatophobia buff, the PGTW Buff, the upcoming Surge, Corrupt Intervention, even Thrilling Tremors. While they (wisely) realize that gens per se don't need any further adjustments to gen time, they've been giving killers the tools needed to slow the game down.
From the direction this game takes, it looks like killers are supposed to use perks to make up for lacking game design.
-
@Mochan "this is a casual hide and seek game"
For the majority of the playerbase, this is not "hide & seek" but "play catch".
And just because this game is unbalanced, this doesn't mean it's casual. Casual would mean that new players have an easy start and that you can play this game very well occasionally. That's not true at all. DbD is the opposite from beginner-friendly and the big part of the community puts a decent amount of hours into this game.
So while this game is balanced for a casual "hide & seek" game, this totally misses the purpose since it should be balanced for a non-casual "play catch" game.
-
@bubbascal You don't have to convince me. I know that the game is unbalanced and that survivors can get their objective done too fast.
I simply said that I haven't seen the devs acknowledging this problem.

The better side should win though
Exactly. If a killer is more skilled than the survivors, he should always win. But with the current unbalanced state of the game, this doesn't happen.
I would love to play a DbD where the outcome of a match was decided by skill.
-
I don't like indoor maps. The three old realms are my favourites, I would like to see similar maps.
-
I haven't seen the developers state that they think the survivors' objective can get done too fast and there is the need to change something.
-
"If a killer plays straight: No ebony moris, no camping, no Noed then I won't teabag."
-> "I'll only treat others with respect if they play how I want." 👎️
-
The real solution is: Don't follow survivors to the "infinite" and abandon the chase, otherwise you'll lose too much time and end up losing the match.
This should not be a thing. That "safe" areas exist is bad map design, nothing else.
-
"it is a perk i can't allow myself to use because i don't want to have a second chance"
Other exhaustion perks can make up for mistakes, too. If you don't want to use second chances, you can't equip exhaustion perks at all and have to leave a lot more perks than just DH at home.

i Also play on PS4, and I’ve heard that survivor mobility on pc is essentially the same on console, so maybe that’s why is so one sided? I main killer and I’m used to the sticks but I can def understand why someone would want to use a mouse on a FPStabber
Being able to use a mouse would be nice, but I think the bigger problem is the weak performance on console.

That more than likely means there's too many survivors and not enough killers playing.
It's definitely that way on PS4. Instant killer lobbies and having to wait as a survivor.
However, this will probably change in 3 days when Demo-chan gets released and everybody wants to play as the new killer. We'll see how long it will take then for the queue times to go back to their current state.

It was also on the PTB while Dedicated Servers were disabled.
Hmmm... thanks for telling me. You know players have been asking for this feature for years and the devs used to say it wasn't possible. (From a technical perspective, it should be possible without dedicated servers. But the devs gave the impression that it wasn't possible with how their server architecture was programmed.)
Then we will have to see. We'll know in 3 days at the latest. 🙂
-
This feature is tied to dedicated servers.
Edit: Okay, I take it back (see posts below). Not so sure now.

Better TV? Glasses? It's never been an issue for me.
I can assure you my eyes are fine and my TV is awesome. Maybe it's a console thing? We all know the graphics on console are a lot worse than on PC.

I think this is like when they added the mori icon above a downed survivor to say "DON'T FORGET TO MORI!" It's really not necessary and it's handholding. If you don't notice keys then it's because you're not paying attention to the lobby.
100% disagree. I have to almost crawl into my tv to see whether a survivor is holding a key. It's like a Blendette in item form.

Please God no..that's so lazy and useless
Yeah, I know. I don't use these add-ons.
-
@Angelicus23 said:
If they don't add them, their last dsy to activate them is 21st
That's the goal they set themselves. However, there aren't any contractual obligations forcing them to do so.
-
You will be surprised how many people still hit the smaller DS skill check. If you play Doc, go for it, otherwise I would not recommend it.

I'd love to see a cool addon where she gets an aura read on a blink hit survivor or perhaps within her tr as an ultra rare
You mean after she hit the survivor, the survivor's aura is visible for x amount of seconds?
Hmm...since a lot of other killers have similar add-ons, maybe the devs will add effects like Blindness & Hemorrhage for x seconds to her blink hits?
-
Just make the key bigger/more pronounced, that should be enough. (I also have problems spotting keys in the lobby.)

I don't expect Freddies to have that perk either. It's just too situational.
I feel that Freddy is the only killer where sometimes survivors leave early because they are afraid of Bloodwarden. Happens super rarely with other killers.
-
Maybe a new add-on that makes her teleporting sound quieter (not totally silent)?
Considering the adjustments to her existing add-ons, it would have been enough if the devs made the add-ons non-stackable (no more Omega) and added a downside to the Fragile Wheeze.
-
Yup. Wraith is better than Clown because of his increased mobility, but otherwise Clown is better than Trapper, LF, Legion and Doc.

I face good survivors all the time, I can still 3/4K, once you learn how to play bubba you can succeed with him. Also, his chainsaw is very well useable against good survivors.
We have different definitions of "good survivors" then. Great for you that you win most of your matches, but really, if the survivors would really play well, Leatherface would not be powerful enough to beat them.
If you can chainsaw them, that means the survivors were either in a dead zone or they messed up a loop really bad.
-
I got too frustrated with Ruin since it usually gets cleansed in the first 20 seconds. I'm currently trying alternatives. Ruin just feels like a wasted perk slot to me.
-
He can get looped for ages. He has no ability that gives him higher mobility or helps him find survivors faster or down survivors faster. (Against good survivors, you often aren't able to use the chainsaw and have to rely on hitting instead.)
His only strength is "hook defense". He is still better than Legion.
-
Yes, the killers' abilities resemble each other. But the question is: Which totally new killer mechanic can you come up with? It's not that easy.
-
This is a PvP game. It's normal that players go for their opponent's weak spot. Don't be the weak spot. You can avoid getting found by the killer or be a skilled looper; and you have items, perks and teammates to help you against getting tunneled.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
Why would a killer struggle to finish off a dying survivor who's bleeding out on the ground?
Because the Entity wants to give the survivor another chance.
-
@altruistic This specific suggestion aside, it's not about punishing players for playing with their friends, this is about not punishing those killers who play against SWF when they could have more balanced matches facing solo players.
We all know that SWF teams are stronger than teams of solos. That the killer doesn't get any kind of compensation, gameplay-wise or bonus-point-wise, doesn't make sense.
-
@GrootDude said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/682757#Comment_682757
That still isn’t a good idea because then a huge backlash would start. Rewards for facing swf would be best.
A change to making the game more balanced would be better, but giving the killer bonus bp + Emblem points for facing SWF groups is the least that could be done.

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean. Can you rephrase it?

I find it really odd that there are so many posts complaining about survivors, but if you check the que times, more people are playing killer than survivors. Seems like killer is the popular role atm.
It's the opposite for me. I have instant lobbies as killer and to wait as survivor. Maybe it's the platform, I'm on PS4.
-
So the killer doesn't know that the survivor runs No Mither?
-
Even if you do see both survivors, you are allowed to tunnel. This is a PvP game, you are allowed to go for your opponent's weak spot, like in any other game. Also, survivors aren't helpless against tunneling, they have items, perks and teammates to help them.
-
@Aven_Fallen With my question, I did not forbid the user to specify that any maps would favour only specific killers. Also, the person I was replying to was the one who was speaking about "many killer sided maps" in general. So I don't think there is anything wrong with asking.
You are even claiming that every map would favour some killers. So, just to pick a few, which killers are favoured by any of the MacMillan maps, Crotus Prenn maps, Haddonfield, Springwood or Red Forest?
You even say that all farm maps are good for Billy, when really Rotten Fields is the only one which doesn't favour survivors. Billy will get looped to death on Thompson House, Cowshed, Torment Creek & Abattoir and I can't come up with any other killer who would be favoured by these maps.
-
If a survivor tries to yolo safe, hit the unhooker once before the unhook and then again after the unhook.
If you want to go after the unhooked person, wait 15 seconds before you hit them.
-
I cannot imagine that the devs can bring the dedicated servers from the current state to a decent working state in the short remaining time till end of summer.
If there isn't a sudden major improvement, the reasonable thing to do is to postpone the dedicated servers.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
Thompson House, Rancid Abattoir, Disturbed Asylum Ward, Fractured Cowshed. On the other hand there are many killer sided maps as well.
Now I am curious: Which many maps favour killers?
-
Replace Ruin. It's useful in 20% of the matches and that's not enough.
You don't have to replace it with PGTW. You can use other perks that help you buy time: These can be perks that you help you shorten chases or perks that increase healing time (a lot of survivors still heal and don't wait for Adrenline).
Slugging can also buy you a lot of time. Infectious Fright + KO are actually great perks on every killer.
Last but not least, if you get genrushed, Bloodwarden is a nice surprise at the end of the match. As long as you don't play Freddy, survivors usually don't expect you to run that perk.
-
I'm not aware of any scary monsters, but we have the adorable Wolpertinger, if anyone is interested.
In German folklore, a wolpertinger (also called wolperdinger or woiperdinger) is an animal[1] said to inhabit the alpine forests of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg in Germany. -
It depends on your playstyle. Are you new to the game?
You can not go wrong with DS. Dead Hard and Balanced Landing are great exhaustion perks.
-
@Sigel667 That sounds funny! It can also be pretty scare when you suddenly hear Michael or Piggy breathing. 😄
-
@Pulsar said:
Yeah, it only seems to be on console. The devs have repeatedly said there is no such thing as auto aim and that it's the visual item trying to match with the hitbox. I don't know about that, if you play on console, you know that feeling when your aim gets dragged 47º to the left.
I agree, I'm also on console.
Edit: And I feel like it has definitely gotten worse over the last weeks/months.

@Coriander said:
Can survivors hear the footsteps of killers already? When I'm playing killer all I can hear are my own feet, especially Ghost Face. But they can all sneak up if the TR isn't playing due to perks or powers.
You can hear the killer's footsteps and breathing when the killer doesn't have a terror radius and you're not in a chase. Terror heartbeat & chase music are too loud to also hear footsteps & breathing at the same time, at least that is how it is for me.
-
Do you have long queue times for both roles or only for one role?
-
@artist said:
doesnt need changing. and having it deactivate because someone else gets hooked would make it useless. it's already up to the killer whether or not they get hit by ds, stop giving it more limitations
Why would the perk become useless? It would still be an anti-tunnel perk.

I changed my post, what do you think about it now? :P
Personally, I think this perk would still be powerful after these nerfs.
Edit: By "powerful" I don't mean that it would be too strong.
