OH, I see what you guys are saying now. Yeah, that is a pretty crazy tunneling-friendly case, then.
I don't see it that critically. The majority of players runs DS anyway.

Absolutely Bamboozle. You can shut down loops early, some of them being super-powerful loops like Ironworks.

While you ARE correct, the effect is 2 fold here. With this new effect, if Freddy hits the unhooked guy and procs the BT, the bleed out of the deepwounds timer will immediately start depleting since that survivor is now asleep, and not in a TR anymore. If you chase em abit, they'll fall to the ground on their own.
Just like the old BT where the bleedout timer was constantly going down while being chased.

I just really prefer solo. Its just one of my unpopular opinions but even a bad swf can wreck killers. So I avoid it other then when im with my girlfriend. I try to run different perks for experiments sake or just fun but i cant keep up when the other role is using the best of the best
Taking a break is probably the best i suppose but with double bp comimg and a new content update its just sad to.
The game being insanely bugged out from this last update doesnt help make me want to stay either.
Totally fine if you prefer solo, I also play solo a lot. Usually I am not annoyed by the killer but by my random teammates who don't use the time to do gens while I'm getting camped. With SWF you also don't have the problems with yolo safes, ragequitting etc.
In the end, if you are currently too frustrated then taking a break is the best choice indeed.
-
If you cannot find fun in playing the game anymore, then you have to take a break. You can try different things like fun builds but in the end, you can't force yourself to have fun.
Gameplay-wise: If you play SWF with smart teammates that help you and you bring certain perks + items as well, tunneling is not that big of a problem. You can even save teammates from camping killers without throwing the match, as long as the killer doesn't have an insta-down.
So, if you don't want to stop playing DbD, I suggest that you play SWF and bring the "good stuff".

This isn’t the only project BHVR works on. Anyone who looks at their job openings can see this.
Furthermore they can divert their resources how they please; they also don’t have crunch time so that’s why some updates can take a little longer.
Let’s make a few things clear:
BHVR Entertainment usually sticks to mobile games or providing assets. This is one of their more major projects yes, but that doesn’t mean their original work has been ignored. Do I think this game is good on console? Not really. But there’s a few factors that could affect the development of the game that aren’t accounted for here.
I can't think of any argument that would justify why the performance gets worse with each update.

Actually 500 people (from Google), and that is split across 2 games and not everyone works on optimization. Also, not everyone works all at once, so they might do a 250 split across the week. Half of the company works while the other takes a break, then they switch. :)
Therefore, they might have 5 to 10 people working on optimization. 5 to 10 people isn't nearly enough to make things happen at the peace you're wanting it. Like I said, you got to be patient, and in all honesty, they have been making some progress towards optimization.
"in all honesty, they have been making some progress towards optimization"
In fact, no. The performance lags/freezes get worse with every update. The situation we have now is a lot worse than two years ago.
It's 600 employees according to their own website. Also I don't understand what you mean by only half the company working. I assume that most employees have a normal full time job Monday-Friday.

Many ppl run into this problem every month... I can rock Freddy at rank 1 no problem, but If i wanna learn a new killer... I guess I gotta wait for rank reset, and then not play for about a week. This is one reason I have close to 0 experience playing Spirit or Nurse. I have both killers lvled up abit, but their powers are so different than other killers... My experience with Freddy doesnt transfer over to being a good Nurse too.
As I said, it isn't an easy topic. Nurse and Huntress are different worlds while, for example, Trapper and Hag aren't.
-
Farming games are so boring. If somebody dc's early in the match, I won't farm but 'll play generously, so that the survivors should not have any problems still getting a decent amount of bp + Emblem points while we can have a "normal" game.

3/3.5/4% dying light plus thanatophobia = op imo
The old Dying Light gave you instant 25% and you were able to combine it with Thana. Did anybody ever complain about this combination being op? No, because the two perk slots are better used otherwise.
And don't forget: Old DL: 3 hooks or 1 hook + mori = 25%
New DL: 8 hooks = 24% penalty

It's not just about no perks, but trying out an entirely new killer for the first time. My first game as Demo was against a similar situation with only level 1 surge. It's rediculous. You shouldn't get white or green survivors, granted, but then they shouldn't have a reset before the update, should they?
I wrote more than 1 post in this thread. Please take everything into account.
-
@NMCKE BHVR is NOT a small company. They have 600 employees.
We have bad performance on console since the release, that's more than two years. We are not talking about a single bug that has only been existing for two weeks.

A killer who is good on Nurse won't necessarily be amazing with Huntress. Trying to play Huntress at red ranks without ever having ever played or leveled her before just seems unnecessarily cruel.
I mean think about it. If we used my system, the amount of players who would be rank 1 Wraiths would be quite small indeed compared to the number of players in the rank 1 pool for Spirits.
It's not an easy topic. You are correct with the Nurse-Huntress-Example. AFAIK the devs plan to consider different ranks for different killers when the new ranking systems comes next year.
Also ranking system and matchmaking system go hand in hand when it comes to whether players will have a good or bad game.
Let's agree for now that the current system isn't working.

BHVR is still just a beginning company, and they are just now catching up to other large companies. You can't expect a rather new company to have everything perfect, especially when they don't have dedicated servers ready.
BHVR is working on it, give them some time because they can only do so much with the stuff they have. :)
BHVR is not a small new company anymore. Larger companies have a higher amount of programmers, but those companies also release more games.
The game is not coded well, you can notice that by a lot of small and not-so-small things. Saying it's the consoles' fault is simply not true. No reason not to be honest here.
There are a lot of problems with the game in its current state and not talking about them or putting the blame on where it doesn't belong doesn't help anybody. Criticizing the game doesn't mean being "disloyal" to the devs. You can love the game & be a fan and still talk about the problems.

Rank 12 is where all the rank 1 players go after rank reset if I'm not mistaken.
By that logic, you're against rank reset.
Rank 1 goes back to rank 10. Ex-rank 1s play against ex-rank 1s.
And yes, I'm against the rank reset/matchmaking in its current form because it matches players who shouldn't get matched with each other. (I'm not against rank reset in general.)

Time to take off the training wheels. You're already playing the easier side.
You realize not everybody plays only one role...
-
@tehshadowman33 I don't think a rank 1 killer should play on rank 12. You can save up bloodpoints before leveling/prestiging a killer, get to level 36-37 and equip some useful perks.
-
It's a different playerbase. If you play killer, you will also notice that you will face better survivor teams the later it gets.
-
I don't see the need for this change, either. Bamboozle is supposed to shut down loops fast. I don't think it's necessary to surprise survivors with "hey, the window is closed now". Let them know that the window is closed and find another route to run.

Overall it is better since you dont have to tunnel, AND its gonna be throughout the whole game rather than just late game.
It's better for the Obsession since this person is not going to get tunneld but the killer will actively avoid chasing that person.
It's not an improvement for the killer and this is a killer perk. What I wrote above are the hard numbers. This perk got nerfed immensely, there is no way around this.
-
So you want to be matched with new, inexperienced survivors just because you don't have perks equipped?
The matchmaking is already putting absolutely new & experienced players together and I don't think this is a lot of fun for anyone.
-
Nothing against your changes. But even after those, the new Dying Light would still be a lot weaker than the old one. Just look at the numbers:
Old Dying Light: 25% penalty after 3 hooks or 1 hook + mori
New Dying Light: 24% penalty after 8 hooks
-
It feels like the devs did not increase the chances to get the new map this time. I haven't gotten it either. 😐️
-
@Dwight_Fairfield said:
Oh and the matchmaking system is complete nonsense. My friends and I are a mix of red and purple ranks, and we have been paired with rank 17-20 killers.
Been messaging them and apologizing afterwards because it feels like bullying. These poor new killers.
Yeah. I haven't played a lot since rank reset, so I'm still rank 10. My teammate is in the yellow ranks (also experienced, but doesn't play a lot) and we are getting brand new killers and survivors.
-
@StupidPallets said:
No issues here on PS4. I have been face camping survivors with Leatherface, Insidious, and NOED all night without a problem.
Can you say anything about survivor matchmaking, especially SWF, or did you only play killer?

Meta isn’t changing, the game hardly changes from match to match and matchmaking is broken is what I got.
Thanks! 👍️ By the title of the thread I assumed the op was making a suggestion how to solve the problem.

@NMCKE said:
I think it's more about your console - it's just getting out dated when the game is becoming more demanding on the system.
Therefore, the developers should have a graphics feature where you gain better FPS at the cost of graphics. This can benefit all players who can't afford a better setup, but still want to play the game! :)
The point is: DbD should not be demanding. Titles like Overwatch or Slashers like Devil May Cry run totally fine on console, with way better graphics at the same time, while in theory they should be a lot more demanding than DbD.
That's just a case of DbD not being coded well. The devs need to put time into optimization.
-
Can you give us a tl;dr?
-
Dying Light did not even sound good on paper. Old DL: 25% action speed penalty after 3 hooks or 1 hook + mori. New DL: 24% penalty after 8 hooks.
This perk just received a major nerf (and it doesn't encourage to tunnel the Obsession anymore). That's it.
-
@ProfoundEnding said:
It's happening to everyone. Even PC
Yeah, seems a lot of people are complaining.
Has anybody seen the devs make any kind of statement concerning these issues?
-
It's the current state of the game, yes.
Sometimes you will face survivors who make a lot of mistakes and you are going to beat them with every killer, and sometimes you'll face survivors who know how to run safe routes for 2 minutes where you don't have any chance to do a mindgame.
And if you face survivors of the latter category, you need Nurse or Spirit, correct.
-
Haven't played on the new map yet, so I can't say anything about frame drops.
Friendlist/SWF lobbies are super buggy indeed, very long loading times, random error messages, game crashes.

Super buggy and super laggy.
It's really problematic. We had to go back to the main menu and restart the lobby several times, my teammate even had to restart the game twice.
-
I'm also on PS4. Matchmaking is slow and this evening the new friendlist feature and SWF lobbies have been continuously super buggy.
-
Yes.
-
I've been playing SWF this evening and the matchmaking/friendlist feature/SWF lobbies have been super buggy. I'm also on PS4.

I've also experienced this several times this evening. The new friendlist system and SWF lobbies are super buggy.

I know that, and the killer it literally right next to the hooked survivor, and not cloaked or anything and still the perk doesnt activate.
Did you hear the killer's terror radius? The perk Insidious would let the killer camp without a terror radius as long as he doesn't move.
If you heard a terror radius: Had all generators been repaired? There has been a bug not too long ago where Borrowed Time didn't work in the endgame.

Age restricted video! 😂
5:08 Did he say "Ah yah!"? 🤣
Please BHVR, don't ever think about changing this!

You can do the same with Sprint Burst, plus SB can help you in other situations.
I just don't see a reason why you would want to equip this perk when SB is available.

This is true. Why should a killer be punished for being good enough to snowball a team?
The Emblem system simply doesn't work. For example, if the survivors don't manage to get all the gens done, the killer should get Iridescent Gatekeeper and nothing else.
Everybody dies, with 2 gens left to be done and the killer only gets Silver Gatekeeper. Where is the logic in that?

I have just recently put Infectious Fright on my Nurse, because it fits my playstyle very well. I have never been safety-pipping so hard before. No efficient playstyle allowed :(

Don't be efficient, you have to toy with your prey.

You can't hear her footsteps when you work on a gen. The sounds from the gen repair are too loud.
-
I basically agree. Since we don't know the detailed numbers, there might be a problem however: Maybe there aren't enough super-new players playing at the same time to give those players reasonable queue times.
I feel that the matchmaking could be a lot better for the new players, but only the devs know the numbers.
