Make trapper bag base kit and let him start with traps set or a less powerful version of Iridescent Stone (one trap self-setting every 60 seconds).

@katoptris said:
Your right he shouldn't have camp with wraith he should have camped with bubba.
Now we are talking.
Also camping isn't bad per. If the survivors hook rush, if the exit gates are open, if the survivor is hooked next to a hex totem/almost finished gen...there are scenarios where it totally makes sense to not leave the hook.
-
Besides internet issues or the game bugging out, the players either dc because they are angry (the genuine rage-quit) or they consider the match lost and just want to move on to the next game as fast as possible.
-
IIRC, "slightly", "moderately" and "considerably" don't stand for fixed percentage values but vary from add-on to add-on. So you can't say that in general.

That's when you have to judge the situation as the hooked survivor, the game can't do all the thinking for you - it can only do so much without human input.
How is the hooked survivor supposed to judge whether his random teammate has BT, is willing to tank a hit, has an insta-heal etc?
While it would be nice sometimes to deny an unhook as the hooked person, it would lead to more problems than we currently have.

I'd say any match would teach new players. All it takes is effort, patience, and new Strategies from learning from past mistakes especially playing against Rank Reset Survivors. I believe when I joined I played against rank reset survivors, I failed miserably but i would always try and try to improve on what i failed.
As I explained, a rank-19-match doesn't prove/teach anything.
This totally new perkless player would have lost anyway. If this player would not have camped, he would have lost anyway, simply because he is too inexperienced and facing you 4 guys.
So, if this new player had not camped and still lost, what would this taught him? "Not camping and instead chasing new people doesn't work."
This is why you don't find popular gameplay videos on Youtube where the players are rank 19. Because everybody knows it doesn't prove anything.

So how does he learn from his mistakes? How did you learn from your mistakes? By failing. This guy learned his lesson and I am trying to teach new players (Who joined the forums) that Camping won't help them.
If you want to teach the new players, you don't have to post a low-rank match on the forums.
I think @Kilmeran has made a very good statement above.

@Kilmeran Thank you for sharing that anecdote. 👍️

You are already come to conclusions that I was bragging.
I wasn't bragging.
Like I said IN MULTIPLE comments in this thread. At this point stating this sentence feels as if I'm a broken record...
I will never trash talk a new guy. And if he didn't learn from this match then how does he get better? Keep doing what he's doing..? Heck then how did you learn to get better? Plus if I wanted to bash him I would unblur his name. But I took the time to blur it so no one got hate.
So I don't know why you are so fixated on thinking I'm trying to bash the new guy. I'm just telling anyone on the forums that this tactic will not work if you are new to the game against certain survivors.
And I'm just telling you that you don't prove anything by beating perkless rank 19s.

I understand this looks like a: "Ha-Ha I beat down this noob" Post. But, that's not my intention. Since New players often join the forums if they see this post they can look at that image and come to the conclusion don't hard camp. And the guy that was killer in this match will learn from this lesson as well.
As I wrote above, you don't prove anything by beating a perkless rank 19. You can beat a rank 19 no matter what you do.
You prove that something works or doesn't work when you beat a skilled high rank player.

look.. Like I said i didn't want to prove anything. I was teaching him a hard lesson of what not to do. And Eventually he'll learn like everyone else does.
You didn't teach him a lesson. This player is too new. I hope you didn't bm/t-bag him or wrote him in the after-game chat something like "that's what you get for camping".
Also, stop bragging about beating a perkless rank 19. Nobody is going to pat you on the back for this.

then we should remove rank reset? I'd be fine with that. It's not my fault the game rank reset and it wasn't the Wraiths fault either. it was simply bad timing.
EDIT: Plus what makes you think this new player would leave? I had my hard losses as a killer when i first started. (Insta Heals, old D.S. 4 toolboxes etc.) it's just part of the game. I cam back from it and I stop at about Rank 10 from learning from my mistakes.
We need better a better ranking system and a better matchmaking. Rank reset should not get removed entirely but adjusted.
The current system scares new players off, that's all. But that's not the topic of this thread.

Look, no offense but.. I don't like to brag about me defeating a Rank 1 - 6.
If I do post something. It has a deeper meaning and logic behind all of it. This post wasn't to brag about me beating a Rank 19 killer (who By the way could use an Alt Account) This was to prove face camping does nothing good for the killer. In reality it benefits the survivors. So this post was to prove a point to new players that Face camping does no good. Especially if your team is determined to survive.
Beating an absolutely new player without any perks doesn't prove anything.
You prove something by showing a tactic which works against skilled players. Against rank 19s, everything works.

I get what you’re saying but you might’ve chased someone off who was completely new to the game... and you all got hooked twice by a perkless addon-less newbie? I think I would’ve left that part out of my brag, dude! Lol
A couple more experiences like this and the players leaves DbD for good. As I said above, camping or not, this Wraith never had a chance.

Have some conditions:
You can only kick a survivor when...
- You're in LoS to the killer.
- When the killer is within 16 meters to you.
I'm just spitballing some ideas here, don't expect these to be perfect!
Borrowed time exists. Also sometimes you have to try without BT. Teammates can play smart and tank hits for each other or maybe somebody brings an insta-heal. There are just so many variables.

Ik, but.. I want to teach new players.. Don't camp lol. Or this could happen.
He is an absolute new player without any perks. You are 4 survs with nice perks (don't know about SWF) + 3 toolboxes. This guy never had a chance.
This post just says "look how we beat this perkless new player". If you want to show us something impressive, show us how you outwitted a skilled high rank killer.
-
I'd say considering it was a new player without any perks + add-ons we don't have to talk about this match.
Edit: I noticed it just now - you censored the "thumbs up/down"-icon next to the killer's name. You seriously gave a newbie a "thumbs down"? This post gets worse the longer I look at it.
-
It's a weak effect. I wouldn't run it.

The percentages would be changed to equal everyone out
Faster running speed or gen repair speed is more valuable than faster crouch speed, for example, no matter if the percentages differ.
Also balancing would be hard if you'd have to consider different values.

@NoShinyPony I mean isn't that what perks already do?
Different characters, same meta perks.
At least the survivors look different. No need for it to become more monotonous.

@Hoodied said:

I should have said more
I am tired of the current meta as it makes the game extremely boring, survivor and killers
Like how Hillbilly is seen really often in high ranks, I feel like we should have more killers seen in the high ranks than the current ones
Okay. If we don't want to see Billy & Spirit all the time at high ranks, the other killers have to get buffed obviously. (And I agree, I'd like to see a bigger variety of killers.)
-
I like STBFL, but my newfound love belongs to Infectious Fright. <3
-
@NMCKE From those perks you mentioned:
I can agree with DS. STBFL is a nice perk indeed, but not as super-powerful as DS or the old MoM. The other perks are obtainable through playtime, no need to spend money.
-
@ChezAndQuakers said:

There’s decisive I guess
Yeah, okay.
-
Then especially when playing killer, you can try to come up with alternatives for the meta. You say that you are tired of the meta, so I assume that you use Ruin, for example. Try to find alternatives.
-
@NMCKE It's not a useless perk but you can't compare it to the old MoM which was available only with money. If anything was "pay to win", then it was the old MoM.
BBQ aside, do you think any other perks are problematic?
-
@NMCKE said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/688397#Comment_688397
BBQ is a great example because you have to literally pray to the bloody Entity that BBQ is one of the four perks in the Shrine out of 125 perks.
There should be a reroll mechanic for the Shrine for 500 Shards. :)
Unfortunately, the glory days of BBQ are over since nowadays everybody is hiding their aura. Other tracking perks are much better if you want to win a match.
-
We see this suggestion here on the forums on a regular basis. The problem is: Some passive abilities are way stronger than others. This would lead to less variety and people playing the same characters all the time.
-
Perks from purchase-only DLCs still appear in the shrine. And the original killers and their perks are obtainable with shards. I don't feel like this is pay to win.
Do you have certain perks in mind where you are seeing a problem?
-
@Hoodedfengm1n Do you play mainly survivor or both roles?
-
Bond is my favourite perk, but Meg is just so pretty, so she is my favourite surv. 😊

@NMCKE Thanks for looking up & posting that quote! 👍️

I manage to win the majority of my games as killer even with these items in play, a lot of people don’t stay calm when gens start going so they start making tons of mistakes.
Good for you.

The person I was replying to said that if you are better then you’ll win, in my experience this is true.
Not really. If the killer is better than the survivors by a big difference, he will win. If he is only a bit better, he will not win.
I'm not including being "outskilled" by keys and insta-heals.

you want games to actually appeal to new players do you want this game to literally have zero playerbase cept veterans?
This is not how it works. A videogame being balanced and successful doesn't contradict. It's normal that new players have to practice.

Actually they have acknowledged the gens in previous streams.... they also stated that they were testing secondary objectives..... it's just been so darn long since they mentioned anything about the gens
I haven't heard/seen them clearly state that. From what I read here on the forums, I cannot find any indication that they want to increase the time for the survivors' objective.

if this game was strictly balanced around good players this game wouldn't last another year
Do you think that the majority of players doesn't want to play a fair, balanced game?

Do you think it is normal for 4 players between 200-500 hours to win a main killer with more than 3k hours (me)? Something fails in this game, this happened to me many times in my life playing this game.
I know, you don't have to convince me. 🙁

It was only an issue back when Claudette’s cosmetics were darker. Also you could stack bouquet offerings back then as well. It would be fine if they brought it back and made it to where they no longer stack.
Claudette's cosmetics are still dark enough for it to be a problem. Stealth is supposed to require skill (=evading LOS), not being "invisible" just because everything is too dark.
-
Nancy or Steve, haven't made my final decision yet. Killer queues are going to be bad when everybody wants to play Demo-chan, so it's time to play survivor for probably the next two weeks.
-
Spirit is fine. Prayer Beads need to get changed, that's it.
-
I'd prefer it if MoM would get a total rework. Getting a hit for free is just not a healthy mechanic, besides from the Borrowed Time scenario.
-
I'm on PS4 so I only come across lagswitchers, and that doesn't happen often.
-
Why would you want to add fuel to the already existing bm'ing?
-
The devs won't give you the code, but you can create a chapter on paper, of course. Fans of this game are doing it all the time.
If something is good enough, there is the chance of making it into the game.

Say what you mean and don't hide your point behind cryptic ambiguities.
Good killer streams have them 4king SWF teams perkless at Rank 1. So not sure what you're trying to say, make it clear.
I'm not a mindreader so I can't guess what you're trying to insinuate.
I mean that you see this game not objectively enough. You think that it is not that bad for killers and that killers who complain just need to git gud. You think that a skilled killer will win because of his skill. That's not the reality.
So I suggest that you start playing killer on a regular basis. If you experience something first-hand, this will broaden your horizon and make you see things differently.
-
@Mochan I have no idea why the devs don't want to balance this game around good players. DbD could be a lot more successful. It feels like so much wasted potential.
-

I think it’d be fine if they brought back the Moon Bouquets to kinda bring back the ominous atmosphere. Just make it to where they don’t stack.
New Moon Bouquet on MacMillan? You won't be able to see Claudettes there. The same goes for some corners on other maps.

Survivor's not as hard as people claim it to be.
If you've been playing killer for a considerable amount of time playing survivor will be a piece of cake after a little adjustment.
I say this as someone who has played 1000 hours solo survivor.
Who claims survivor is hard?
