Other than matchmaking taking longer than I feel it should I haven't run into any bugs. What are you talking about? Regardless, the fix I suggested should take all of 5 minutes of programming.
I'm surprised that you aren't aware: SWF lobbies/SWF matchmaking is super buggy and new players with no perks are getting matched with green ranks and higher. (Which means that new players who came with the Stranger Things DLC and free-to-play weekend are getting scared off.)

The new map despite being an indoor map has huge frame rate spikes for a number of players, even people who I know are running ridiculously beefy rigs.
Ironically, I don't have that problem despite my computer being a potato, but the frame rate for me is lower than normal, which that could just be attributed to a lot going on in the map than what most other maps have. It is the best looking map so far aesthetically imo.
I don't like the aesthetics of the new map at all, but that just comes down to personal taste, so nothing to argue here. 🙂

6 gens 60 seconds each.
That would be 6 x 60 = 360 seconds.
Currently we have 5 x 80 = 400 seconds.
We are talking about making the situation less bad for killers, not making it worse.
-
No, that would make it way harder to defend gens for the killer.
-
I understand that this can be annoying for some players. However, the #1 priority what needs to be looked at immediately is the bugged matchmaking.
-
@Kilmeran I'll reply on your wall to not derail the thread.
-
I don't think you will get hate for mentioning some of the problems of the game. The bugs and weak performance are also the biggest fun killer for me. Some game mechanics might be annoying, the imbalance is a big problem, but bugs + performance are the biggest issue for me.
Concerning the grab bug: I can't remember who it was, but one of the mods replied here on the forums that this isn't a bug but caused by latency. But that can't be the reason because currently the killer is the one hosting the game. So we can assume that the devs aren't looking into the grab bug issue.
-
Also the game was fine performance-wise on console in 2017. With DbD becoming more successful, you would think that the performance would get better over the course of months/years but instead it gets worse with almost every update.
Why are the first realms (MacMillan, Coldwind, Autohaven) significantly better than the newest map performance-wise? Shouldn't the devs have more experience and be able to make better maps now than a couple of years ago? It just doesn't make sense.

I don't see this as a problem, as sometimes the totem is hidden so well you never find it until it's too late, especially if it's Devour Hope. I've spawned next to lit totems as killer as well.
You don't think it's a problem when a survivor spawns right next to a hex?
Also why should it be a problem if a killer spawns next to his hex? He is not going to cleanse it.
-
@Kilmeran I wanted to play SWF about 12 hours ago. Waiting 20 minutes to get a match. We managed to play 2 matches in 60 minutes and gave up after that.
The rank disparity aside: Everytime when there is a significanty increased amount of players, you can't play on console because queue times for both roles become insane. Happens everytime when a new DLC drops or there is a free-to-play weekend or an event, reliable as a clockwork.
Obviously the reason must be that BHVR's servers can't handle the increased amount of inquiries. Beats me why they don't solve this problem.

And Pig. And Ghostface. And every killer with Insidious...

Yes but you can bait out wraith to proc BT.
Not really. Wraith doesn't have to uncloak but you have to save your teammate before he/she dies.

I would like a feature where we can have a slider on graphics! :)
This can boost FPS for everyone, and the community always wanted a graphics option instead of modifying files.
We need optimization, that's it.
-
You are probably playing on PC and don't know how bad the situation on console is. Believe me, it's very very bad. I usually play on PS4 and since this weekend is free-to-play, I seized the opportunity and tested DbD on PC. It's a completely different world.
-
@Kilmeran Yes, I remember your post where you talked about your sister. It's a very good example for the current situation/problem.
I'm sorry that I can't be optimistic in this case, but I also think that the number of players will stay at 20-25k. It would be such a shame if this great license doesn't increase the number of players permanently. Hopefully I'll get proven wrong.
-
Agreed. I'm really worried that not a lot of new players who came with the Stranger Things DLC are going to stick with the game.

It does not have its purpose which current BT should have. Thats simply a fact.
BT doesn't work at all if you are facing a cloaked Wraith. Different killers, different mechanics.
Object of Obsession is also now super-powerful against Freddy since you now always see his aura without any minimum distance while being asleep. That totally kills any mindgame potential. Again, different killers, different mechanics.

Which results in the person who got unhooked going down because this person is asleep and in Deep Wound, which will deplete because there is no TR.
So yeah, it does not work against Freddy at all.
That's like the old BT. Nobody claimed back then that the old BT was useless and didn't work. It was a commonly used perk.
-
@PeenutsButt3r said:
Welp, gonna use it but you said so it's trash now
Like with other hex perks, it depends on the totem spawn. If the totem doesn't get cleansed, it's a very useful perk in slugger builds. The problem is that the totem usually gets found too fast.
-
@Kilmeran It's sad. It totally nullifies the effort that Marketing is making. They get a great license deal, make a free-to-play weekend, offer 50% sale and in the end, new players won't stick to the game because the matchmaking is buggy. So much hard work that in the end will not pay off because of wrong priorities.
For example, I faced a new rank 20 killer today. I don't think this person will keep playing the game. :(
-
yes
-
BT doesn't proc when the person who is doing the unhook is asleep (because of no terror radius). Otherwise it works.
-
@Th3Nightmare said:
@Peanits An important thing about Freddy since I can't create a post, because he can be seen in obsession when you're asleep? You can see him at any distance, is he intentional?
You mean with Object of Obsession when you are asleep? That isn't a bug because you don't have terror radius.
-
Agreed. I'm afraid we will be losing a lot of new players due to the matchmaking issues.
-
I don't need 60 fps. I would be happy if the game would run well at 30 fps without performance lags/freezes.

I'm not familiar enough with that map, but at least some spawning points really aren't hard to find indeed.

I’ve asked not_Queen if I can share the numbers, I’ll tell you if I get confirmation.
Thank you! I hope she'll allow it.
I am sure it would be a good thing for the general mood in the community if the devs would tell us on regular basis "Hey, last week we did a ban wave and we banned x amount of players".

I know how many people got banned last month for dcing.
Are you allowed to tell us? Because I haven't seen one single person complaining that they got banned here on the forums, on twitter etc.

Not saying dcs aren’t a problem, just saying that we have a dc punishment that does an ok job. Which does have room for improvement.
With the amount of dc's and complaints about dc's I'm seeing, I wouldn't say that the current punishment system does an ok job.

With the information I’ve been given, I’d say it does an ok job, but of course could be better.
Which information do you have that we don't?
Because I see players who dc as reliable as a clockwork when the match isn't going their way and these people are still playing the game.
-
@GrootDude said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/701619#Comment_701619
I honestly don’t see dcs much
I see a lot of dc's in my matches and those matches of the streamers I watch. I don't understand how you can think it's not a big problem.
-
Okay... I would totally understand if you said that you tunnel for tactical reasons but tunneling for fun to eat as many DS as possible?
But whatever floats your boat.

@GrootDude said:

We do have dc punishments, it comes in ban waves.
With a super-high threshold.
The current dc punishments are obviously no solution when you take a look at the mass of dc's and complaints about dc's.
-
Definitely Infectious Fright. It's an amazing perk on every killer but currently underrated for M1 killers. It's currently my favourite killer perk, I like it so much.
-
Bottom line: I can't wait for dc punishments. There are a lot of Spirits at the higher ranks so these players won't be able anymore to dc everytime they face one.
-
According to this non-ironic article, Leatherface is the 4th-strongest killer in the game, so you are not that far off: https://www.thegamer.com/dead-by-daylight-killers-ranked/

To me this doesn't make sense as other games do this just fine and don't push away solo players but i can see your fear
Which game gives pre-mates more points just for being pre-mates instead of randoms?
-
Additional remark:
It could work that a lot of killers would willingly play against SWF if they would get "compensated", that means bonus bloodpoints and bonus emblem points.
-
In short: Killers would dodge SWF and play with solos instead. SWF would have (too) long queue times. SWF would get frustrated because of queue times and stop playing the game.
-
Killers should not be able to see the survivors' ranks. The problem here is the matchmaking. A low-rank/mid-rank killer should not have to worry that he is getting matched with red rank survivors. Fix the matchmaking, that's it.

Typically good killers expect EVERYONE to have DS, unless proven otherwise. Personally, I slug the unhooked if I can and go after the unhooker. If the unhooked has BT, I rest easy knowing that guy now has to waste time mending+ is now asleep. I'm not gonna waste too much time harassing someone who's probably got an active DS. FOR ME, this change is just gonna increase the amount of ppl slugged rather than just mending. Worse killers than me though are more likely to waste 20 seconds chasing the unhooked target while the other guy gets away, and then PROBABLY eating a DS. This change is more than likely just gonna reinforce bad habits and have that person eating alot of DSes. @NoShinyPony thoughts?
I also usually assume that everybody has DS. Hard to say whether it will lead to more killers eating DS.
-
@Atrushan88 Why shouldn't killers be able to use their stealth ability? I often enough see CamPigs in stealth mode, for example.
Also, this is not a camping-only issue. Hook rushing exists. If I am playing Wraith and chasing somebody and this person will lead the chase to the hook while having enough distance to me that I can't hit this person before the unhook, I will cloak to deny BT.
-
@BBQnDemogorgon said:
I like the change personally.
BT into DS was a bit much. Now Freddy can just slug the unhooked against hook farmers.
Some other killers have a stealth ability that totally denies Borrowed Time, so we should be fine here.

For context, I am a consistent purple-rank survivor. And while I see DS consistently, it is not remotely lobby-wide. I see multiple BT or Dead Hard users way more often.
I broadly agree that low-ranked play cannot be the balance target for the entire game, but one perk interaction countering another perk interaction (an edge case too, since we're talking about BT application on a single killer) also cannot be the balance target. Shrugging off something with "well, this other perk exists though" is a bad fix.
This is how the old BT used to work. Nobody complained back then that BT was too weak.
Also, killers have to use perk slots all the time to counter game mechanics. Not to counter survivor perks, but to make up for bad game design.
Not that I disagree with you, but the principle of "perk = band aid fix" has been killer's daily bread for years.

High-rank streams do not remotely represent anything that could be called "most" players.
If we want to talk about balance and gameplay mechanics, we cannot talk about low ranks. The DS situation at green ranks doesn't differ that much from red ranks.

How do you figure the majority of players run DS? It's always bizarre to me when people make these statements, because they're always very anecdotal. Looking through recent post-game screenshots of mine, I definitely count more survivors who DON'T bring DS than the ones who do.
From my own experience and watching streamers, it's usually 2-3 DS per game.
-
If you take a break from the game, you de-rank in a relatively short amount of time. DC'ing won't bring players to rank 17-20, so these are most likely players who left the game for a while.
