I had a new one tonight: on one of the azarovs the skill check for Overcharge sounded but did not show on-screen three times for me. Somehow by the Entity's good graces I hit one of them.
Otherwise the match had its normal hiccups, like the Demo's shred attack causing a game freeze, Sloppy lagging each and every time it was applied, the usual suspects.
I still have love for this game and while the whole "Spaghetti Code" has long been a thing we say....it's still so bewildering how the game rarely gets a moment of peace, even when some things are fixed or tweaked.
For all we know the Entity is behind the actual issues that plague the game and feeds off all of us...like the Sailor Moon villains would concoct elaborate schemes to drain humans of their energy.

I actually don't know who it is.
Almo I'm guessing? It's been awhile since I intently followed who's who behind DBD (Ghostface was when I was last nonstop following Q&As and their live events)

When you wrote this, I reflected on my games that day and it felt like it had been running pretty decent for me too. Still some stutters here and there but not bad overall. The last couple days have been the same. Some stutters, but nothing unmanageable. After the performance patch, it ran decent for a couple days, then started to degrade again. When 5.1.1 came out it got really bad again. But that day it started feeling smoother. Have you been able to play the last couple days and does it feel decent still? If so, I wonder if there was some type of maintenance or upgrade to the server that would explain why that day it started feeling better because I don't think there was an update.
I def still have issues from time to time. Had one the other night where if I hooked someone when a Gen finished (or at times for no reason) I'd get a small freeze. I also had a few hiccups during a match as Legion.
So far my issues have been:
-Midwich map consistently has performance issues
-Dead Hards can cause my game to freeze up, tho it's inconsistent
-Survivors running into me spazzing out can sometimes cause my game to hang-up/freeze as well.
Otherwise it's just seemingly random actions on maps that occasionally freeze/stutter etc during a match. Seen small bits of this on Yamaoka & Day Farm maps.

console lag/freezing aside, I feel like I’m getting worse as killer. Hopefully it’s just the issues with the game state but I’m starting to suspect that my skills are degrading. Anyone else feeling like this?
I wouldn't say degrading, but they can feel rusty or that my determination to do better waning when a bunch of issues occur within a match. It most certainly keeps me from wanting to practice Killers that require more precision until things are fully fixed.

I... can't fully agree on the Mindbreaker claim. Especially when paired with some form of stealth, popping up at a gen unannounced with all currently repairing survivors having exhaustion (or paused exhaustion) can be quite useful in my eyes.
I was mistaking Mindbreaker with Cruel Limits xDTo be honest I only use Surge from Demogorgon's teachables, but Cruel Limits just always seemed liked you'd so often get no value from it as Gens popped more often than not when you're too far away, or in a chase with someone else.
-
Yeah, I could've sworn I was vacuum sucked into some Pallets even if I stopped short of it or backed away IE I can see the whole pallet in view a few steps away but get stunned still. Doesn't happen all the time, but I swear my hurt box like lingers or "sways" into the area that the pallet would stun normally.

Fine with how Hatch has been since it was FINALLY allowed to be closed...I never bothered with the BS of Hatch Standoffs. What I'm not ok with is Keys opening the Hatch, abandoning teammates or getting an escape that the Killer was going set to get. Never used them as a Survivor and feel they encourage way too selfish play in Solo Queue.
-
Yeah, and? Dude seemed he was having fun playing and talking about it. Instead of people coming to riff on him for choices or how he played, should welcome em into the community.

The nerf to Hangman's Trick was way too harsh, given how insignificant sabotaging is currently. I'd understand them not wanting to keep it at the numbers it had in the PTB, but 6 meters is nothing. I think it's weaker than old Hangman's Trick and one of the worst perks in the game atm.
Hangman's, Monsterous Shrine and Mindbreaker remain as the most useless and unused Perks for myself (off the top of my head)
-
Killer Main here. Nope, never gonna happen without an overhaul of the gameplay design to balance such an outrageous thing. There are already options to deal with Pallets and I just don't think we need something that's gonna be nigh impossibleto really balance well. You can use a Anti-Pallet build if Pallets are bothering you, or use a Killer that can counter/overlook Pallets. I'm sure you know these, but it's a good refresher as well as info for newer players.
Perks you can use like Spirit Fury+Enduring, Brutal Strength, Hex: Blood Favour.
Killers like Nurse, Huntress, Oni, Hillbilly, Spirit, Nemesis, Trapper, Hag and Doctor can mess with Pallet play.
-
Soon as Legion get unique voices for each member: Frank, Julie, Susie and Joey. :P
Which will probably be never, I remember asking Devs a few times during Q&As and they didn't get why they'd get distinct voices for each character. So, slim chance Lisa & Cybil will get anything.

They are working on it as well, I know this is just going to be seen as "lip service" but the issues including the Dead Hard causing freezes etc are being worked on. I don't have information I can share at this stage, but want to attempt to assure you that things are actively being worked on.
I know the Devs have their reasoning, but if there's a known issue with Dead Hard causing freezeing/lagging, why isn't it temporarily unavailable? Or is it's fix with performance close enough to not warrant it?
Because right now there's a lot of Survivors who know it's causing issues and are Dead Harding into me as a Killer to cause my game to freeze up and make chasing them more difficult and annoying. They seem to get distance because I'm recovering from the stutter and then trying to parse where they went because I can't see the direction they went while I'm unable to move
-
Legion not lose Feral Frenzy because of a missed attack. I miss it's original working... just have part of the bar deplete per missed swing. Given how the game (esp on console) is still riddled with performance issues, it can sometimes cause the game to stutter/freeze and poof, your power is lost. It's beyond annoying
-
@Seraphor said:
If you can't do that in 4 games then you're not even trying.
With how Killers can be in my experience, it's easy to get face camped to death in back to back games, have Survivors that sandbag or play poorly & games end too quickly. It's why I rarely play Survivor & stick with Killer anymore as my GF quit playing years ago because of such players, so solo queue us an abysmal experience..
So no, it's pretty feasible that there are obstacles outside one's control that makes doing certain challenges, esp some "do x multiple times in one match", a utter slog and headache to try to get accomplished.
-
All I want in regards to this topic & situation is something to compensate Survivors who get face camped and die on their 1st hook. I don't care how "within the game's rules" it is. You lose items, offerings, add-ons, miss out on any Bloodpoints and most importantly...wasted valuable time
-
Sadly Devs are fine with it and say any change to buff Nemesis in that regard was too "unfun to play against". They are happy where Nemesis sits in regards to his power.
Yeah, I think it's ridiculous that they get a speed boost. Plague's Puke doesn't give a speed boost why should Nemesis be hindered on the the initial tentacle hit?
-
I just wish we could have a loadout saved feature. Like 2-3 loadouts that you could save and just pick/switch to quickly. Like you mess around with a different build but then want to go back to your "main" build, instead of going through everything one by one, your just pull up a side window/menu and click once and have it all switched to.
-
Night time on PS4 is def asking to be bullied by SWF. It doesn't ALWAYS happen, but my matches in the afternoon were much better than the ones I just had now late at night. Still had a good match out of the handful of bad ones I had as Clown. Way more flashlight clickies too xP.
What sucks is my sleep schedule has me up at night instead of day and I really can't change that. So I try to cram as more in as I best I can before it gets late. But even then I noticed Ranks getting screwy again when it was going so well a few days ago.

And I can understand why they would. I don't play killer but even if I did, I wouldn't even bother trying for that one. Honestly, these challenges have been very bad for the health of the game.
Some can be fine, but so many are just outright awful. I tried a few times for Self-Deprecating Joke in a legit way, even throwing games but I just couldn't get it to set-up well for multiple reasons. Finally had to throw a game and try to farm with a Survivor in a match. Thankfully I got someone to work with me the first farm match I attempted. I like Clown, but for me personally, I'm not good enough/comfortable enough to pull off that Challenge without a farm.
There are other examples of past & current challenges that are just unfeasible without luck (sometimes a buttload of luck) throwing games or having to try to farm with a team.
-
He's probably my favorite Killer to play as, though him, Ghostface & Pig I always have the most fun with. Tier 3 in any form (regular, Tombstone or Infinite) just such a feel good ability to use...esp against cocky Survivors...
-
It def would be too strong as a non-hex perk. I kinda wonder what it be like if Hex Perks (except for Haunted Ground) had a secondary effect when broken. Something that triggers when said totem is cleansed, it resolves and then the Perk is fully turned off?
-
@HealsBadMan said:
It's the best one so far. Perfectly describes Clown, hope people like him more bc of it (at least from a lore perspective).
Clown has, imo, always been a great original Killer. I may be biased because I started playing DVD when he was released, loved his theme music on the main menu, loved his mori and absolutely loved his look. So if anything, he just gets better. I also find his cosmetics are some of the best in regards to how many he has that I like. Where as other Killers have only a couple or a few that I like.
Yeah, I don't like playing him as much because unlike the Killers I main, I feel too weak with him (I need more Perks on him and feel like without better ones or without using strongest add-ons that I'll he walked all over against competent Survivors.
-
Played a bunch of games yesterday and today (PS4), most were actually solid for once. Even playing as Oni, zipping around with his power I had zero issues. However, during these days of playing (same back when I played during the Anniversary & last Bloodhunt) had a bunch of matches play HORRIBLY.
So far the main factors I found to be playing Pyramid Head with his Powers to cause performance issues, the other was that Midwich was a CONSTANT hellhole for me. Played on Midwich as Trapper, as Michael Myers, Wraith and so forth. With different Perks etc, so no other common factor played a part other than the map itself.
Took video of the moments of one matches I had on the map. The rest of my matches I had before and after this one, were on different maps and I had few to no performance issues. I had issues similar to these on the revamped Farm Maps like Thompson House (and the other daytime Farm Map variants) when I played a few weeks ago. One issue I've never seen before is at one point in the video when 3 Survivors were gathered, I smacked Jake (you hear him scream) but he doesn't get injured the first hit and took a second hit to injure him. I had no issues on my end relating to internet, no other match have I had this happen before in recent gameplay.

Because I've had such and on and off again relationship with DBD since the Rifts were added, I've only gone thru two Rifts a fair amount of the way for rewards (even tho I wanted to finish em all) with Skins and some charms...but yeah..there's only like 3 Charms that I like and only the Clown head & body for the Skin.
Everything else is so bleh. I dunno, I feel the Survivors mostly get short-changed more so than Killers, but maybe that's because I main Killer and only like 5 Survivors I would care to play as, so a bunch of the Rift rewards of Survivors are pointless to me.

There are days where I think the devs have 2 different people specifically hired to make the addons, one guy thinks gimmicks equal usefulness and the other actually knows what would make a killer’s power better/more interesting while making the fact that the changes are strictly on addons justifiable, the listed above are the latter, Umbrella badge is a pretty good case of the former
Michael Myers still remains some of my favorite add-ons. Lot of useful ones and a few that change how he plays a hit. Scratched Mirror, Tombstone & Infinite Tier 3 allow you to shake things up. So many other Killers just have a bunch of useless add-ons and that the ones meant for a different playstyle or gimmick just don't feel inviting to use (looking at you Demogorgon)
-
I see it as either the Entity struck a deal with Leviathan to borrow Pinhead. Or that the Entity "solved" the Lament Configuration and that everything within the Entity's realm could be intrinsically linked to it, thus Pinhead sees everyone as fair game. That all are part of that which opened the Lament Configuration.
-
With Pinhead, I can only really see the Entity making a deal with Leviathan, another all-powerful being who rules over the Cenobites in their realm, to borrow Pinhead to sow pain & pleasure amongst the Survivors. Sort of like hiring a Mercenary.
-
My own Tier List for all the Mori Kills. A lot on the lower list have a good concept but the execution just doesn't do much for me.
Twins, Freddy and Blight I feel could have a bit more to them. Doctor's is a nice change of a way to kill someone but it's just way too simple for me overall. Everyone else there and below I just do not like. Which partly sucks because Pig is one of my favorite Killers to play as.
-
Ehh, it's not my favorite Map, but I'd much rather get Haddonfield over Midwich any day of the week. I've been a broken record about it on the forums last few days, but I can not stand Midwich for either side in this game.
-
As fun as it would seem to be to block and regress Gens, we have a multitude of Gen specific Perks for various situations already, that are pretty potent. Can always have em blocked, then patrol said Gens and run Survivors off if they're waiting to get back on Gens and have Ruin to start regressing afterwards.
Personally I'm such a fan of running Surge and Pop Goes the Weasel on several Killers for dealing with Gens
-
I don't see them nearly as much as I used to. Compared to their original design, these are MUCH more manageable and fair. I personally don't even notice it unless EVERYONE brings a Toolbox and a few or all bring a BNP, then I just run Franklin's Demise and hope the best.
Keys on the otherhand I still absolutely do not like at all. Not as a item you can just bring in, much rather Keys to open the Hatch be a rare chance to find in a Item Chest, or have Keys overhauled entirely.
-
😏
Don't touch his Box then!
-
If they're already going to die as the last Survivor, IE last alive and being chased and they run into a Locker and refuse to get out, yeah its a bit petty if all Myers has been doing has been Tombstone killing people.
Is it legal? Of course, it's whatever to me, despite being a bit annoying (already got the Trophy long ago)..but it is still 100% petty if it is certain they aren't getting out, the Killer has 3/4 Survivors Tombstoned and the last denies it by just staying in a locker (or worse Disconnects & denies the kill).
-
Meh, Trickster isn't for me, but if people like him, let them have their fun. I like some of his Perks at least. I have Michael Myers, Pig, Ghostface, Leatherface and now Pinhead to really appease my Horror hunger. I can deal with a few misfires/Killers that don't interest me (I was initially interested in Deathslinger but ended up not liking how it felt to try to play him).
-
I play Killer WAY more than Survivor, the only thing I refuse to do and absolutely despise of other Killers doing (and I don't care how legal and within game rules it is) is face camping asap. I get it at the Endgame to secure a last minute kill. But face camping the very first Survivor you down at the very beginning of the game, refusing to chase other Survivors or even make an attempt to go to a Gen, is a real s***y thing to do, no matter your "reasoning" or excuse.
No amount of Perks or teammate help can stop a person who solely focuses on one Survivor and does nothing else in the early game but that, so miss me with defending it by saying to use Perks.
-
It took me a decent bit to get it myself. I'm so glad I have it. I was robbed as I had it but the game did register it. I def had a few that kept running into lockers. Absolutely hated but, hooked em and moved on if a few attempts failed in that match. Best I can say is to try at lower ranked levels and hope you encounter Survivors who don't know the counter to deny that Trophy.
-
People don't wanna have fun, some just wanna try to flex on people learning a new Killer...some want to be tryhard serious on the PTB. The world may never know
-
PH is Pyramid Head, just say Pinhead or even Pin for our recent addition.
-
My favorite today was a group of Survivors all brought items in...I bring Franklin's Demise. I smack a Feng who's item drops, she immediately goes back for it and I down her, hook her. After she gets unhooked I KNEW she'd run back for her item, so I head there (nobody in sight, no noise notifications etc to take me anywhere else). Sure enough, there she is, she makes a B-line to her item and I chase her down and smack her. Proceed to Hook her and fastforward, have since hooked 2 other Survivors and leave her alone.
Last hooked I see her off healing thanks to BBQ, go after her and take her out of the game IMMEDIATELY 20+ hateful, salty messages spammed at me (that I didn't even read). Like look, honey, it ain't my fault 4 whole times during the match I'd make you drop your item and you decided instead of running away, or looping me, that when the Killer is behind you...that you IMMEDIATELY had to pick your item back up and it lead to your death. I don't and will never go easy in the middle of a match, because Survivors sure as ######### hell aren't going to give me any space for a reprieve. I'll dole out mercy for the last Survivor if I feel bad for em. But of course I'M at fault for playing my roll. 🤣
-
I'm fine with not getting a new Map right now. Tbh, the newer maps we have gotten have been a pretty big miss for me. RPD I can tolerate, but Midwich is always a "I'm just not gonna even attempt to play" due to the performance issues I have on it and how I loathe the design of the map & even how dark it can be. And with the reworked Game being super pallet town AND some redesigned maps (on certain Killers in my experience) have iffy performances...I'm fine contending with what we have now.
I however REALLY wanted Kirsty from Hellraiser as a Survivor with Ashley Lawrence's likeness used (the Actress seemed to be all for it). The only other content I want is just, actual Events brought back like we used to have.

To be completely honest, I wouldn't mind bots being added or a bot mode entirely separate. I'm a casual as hell player and still play this game, but sometimes I'd like to play without dealing with some of the things that get to me when dealing with random people in games xP. Like play the game but just have a super chill mode to play with and still get good blood points. I kinda doubt we'll get this fully, but I can dream.

But they're visible as Hex Totems.
NOED is the only reason to do DULL Totems.
Well, the new one helps a little bit.
Well, doing Dull Totems for Inner Strength is def another reason. Allows Survivors to pocket a heal for later on or in a pinch if needed.
-
I would 100% hangout with Pinhead. :3. So nope, personally not uncomfortable with em.
-
Without the Halloween Chapter with Michael Myers, I mostly wouldn't have gotten into this game. Waaaaay back when DBD was first about to release, I was sorta interested in it, but not overly excited (eso as I didn't have a gaming PC to play it before it came to consoles). When Michael Myers was added to the game, I lost my proverbial ######### over it.
Pig & Leatherface being in the game had me extra happy to try the game out and Ghostface became my favorite Killer to play hand's down. So while I love characters like Oni, Spirit, Clown and even Legion & Plague a bit, the licensed characters are my favorite and what keeps me coming back to the game. Not to mention I never get tired of playing as Ash Williams.
I think DBD does well to have a balanced or original Killers and licensed ones and it'd longevity has def been due to them garnering in New players and keeping some enfranchised players. Mostly because we don't have any alternative to play as most of these characters (outside a few options).

We know, believe me we know. I know people see it as empty words coming from me, but genuinely the team are working hard to try to resolve the issues on consoles and I believe they are making some headway but it's sadly taking time - I do feel bad about it, a lot of my friends also play on consoles, so I see the struggles they've had, especially with freezings.
Much luv to all of ya. It's never a fun situation for either party here when these things happen.

I just realized that Pinhead is the only Killer who doesn't have a held weapon in his hand (technically Hag & Demo have a nice Claw that cosmetics can alter & make distinct) for a Prestige effect to really stand out xP. Mostly head & body is what people will notice.
