That was me testing it on the PTB a short time ago - not that things are not tested on controller internally.
I understand the issues that you're facing on Consoles, I know the situation is still being worked on internally. But I do not have further information than that I'm afraid.
Appreciate the honesty all the same. Just know many of us still love this game and want to enjoy it despite our own issues with some shortcomings it has had going on.

I've tested him playing wiht a controller and I found it very playable - this was on PC, but the controls were pretty smooth.
My concern isn't so much the use of a controller but the performance and framerate issues many of us console players suffer from. For example, I currently have difficulty using Pyramid Head's ranged attack, which causes performance issues.

Boxes seem to keep spawning, they're similar to Freddy Clocks and Pig Boxes, though I think (at a glance) they randomly spawn instead of staying in one place.
Solving a Box rids the Survivors of the Chains/Binding status affect that Pinhead's Power inflicts on others. I didn't take note, but I think like Freddy's sleep status, the status effect of Pinhead ticks up automatically?
Also Pinhead himself can solve the box to negatively affect Survivors
-
I currently use it on Clown and it makes me happy regardless of outcome. Just a small, smug satisfaction of seeing Survivors scramble after they realize I have it after trying to taunt & teabag me xP

I´m not sure if he will be a strong killer. Since his power just slows survivors down (like Freddys blood puddles) but has to be aimed or comes from the box. Of course, he just released. So its waaaaay to early to draw a conclusion.
BUT the animations look great! The did a terrific job on him!
I'd say at a first glance of things, that he'll possibly be middle of the road, but have the potential to be a bit above with the mindgame potential (not just regulated to loops) with using the Chain to scout ahead or in a chase go ahead of Survivors, or to hit a Survivor above/below you and cause some chaos.
He'll absolutely be tough to master with so much to juggle, but I welcome the tools he's given. Plus there's so much eyecandy for a Hellraiser fan like myself. When a Survivor is solving the Lament Configuration, the theme music of the Box from the movies plays, Pinhead says two direct quotes from the movie etc. I'm a giddy girl over it all!
-
That's part of the strategy and risk VS reward of gen rushing/prioritizing Gens over saving Survivors/cleansing totems, without it Survivors have little to worry about. You run the gambit of ending the game early, and give the Killer an edge with endgame Perks...which btw a Killer has to lose a Perk slot for the majority of the match, which can be nullified before it even gets a chance to activate, or have it disabled shortly after getting it.
Don't like running into it, bring a Map or a dedicated Totem Perk, or even Totem build with Inner Strength and a tracking Totem Perk.

Yeah, that was a pleasant surprise!
I am very impressed by all the unique and classy animations they gave Pinhead. Def can see BHVR has been slowly ramping up their animation game from what was a few unique things (Hag & Spirit breaking things) to Hatch closing animations and unique pick-up animations, to now Pinhead doing everything hands-free!
I'm def excited to play him, even if I fear playing him on console could potentially be a nightmare. There's just a lot great with him so far. Perks I'm intrigued by, as well as the Hooks hindering the Survivors.

Quoting myself, because i was right. (partly)
My guess of having to solve the Lament Configuration to rid yourself of a negative status effect Ala Freddy was correct. As well as him using his signature Chains to attack (us Hellraiser fans KNEW they'd be incorporated). What I didn't guess was him directly controlling those Chains directly!

It's not something that's going to be active in the PTB, there'll definitely be more information about it at a later date.
Does this mean once said changes do happen, that we'll lose the colored Ranks? D: If so, gonna miss seeing Purple over getting Silver or whatever boring, standard Multiplayer Colors we're getting xO

They actually decided to pull the trigger on an IP with a 2 year contract... I have every reason to worry they made similar decisions with other licenses. They apparently screwed up the map too? I mean, my concern means very little, but I expect we will lose more content in the future.
Care to explain what you mean by them messing up the Map? First I've heard of such a thing for designing a Liscensed Map.

I was missing 3 outfits from steve to get all st cosmetics so that’s great for me, only sad thing is that Demo will become at some point the rarest killer of the game and that’s sad because he’s one of the most fun to go against
On PS4 at least, I haven't faced a Demogorgon in such a long time :/. It's always the same 3 or so Killers plus whomever is the most recent one added. Def gets boring as Survivor with the variance of play.

It's not the first thing that was removed from the game, nor will it be the last.
- Legacy Prestige is no longer attainable.
- Moonlight offerings are gone.
- Lower-rarity map offerings no longer spawn.
- Splinters were deleted.
This happens in every game.
I wasn't going to respond to this initially, but gonna add to what others have said.
Losing items is not comparable to the same weight as an entire Chapter being removed. The items removed over the past were balance/design & technical changes that everyone lost. There will still be players able to play with the characters, Perks and Skins from the Chapter that others will not be. No matter how little it concerns or bothers you, it WILL affect players and potential buyers. Especially if someone may be a casual player who may only play off & on, not keep up with everything that changes as they are changing and see a chunk of the game missing. Yeah you can say "snooze you lose" but it still ends up being a sh**y thing to come back to & find out.
Even if BHVR were to add a Killer that mimics what Demo does (if they're even legally allowed to "copy mine but make it a lil different" angle) it still wouldn't be the same. Not to mention we are losing an entire Map, which will limit options some builds & Killers (Scratch Mirror Myers comes to mind) have availableto utilize. Nothing to say of leaving a void for the Map rotation. Also to note that this is the first time paid major dlc to be removed from this game
-
Considering the Gunkgogorgon skin, but that's about it. I'd maybe consider Ahoy Steve, but I have too many other Survivors that I'd much rather play. Nea, Ash, Dwight, Heather, Jill & Leon I have set to rotate as the Survivors I want to play as.
-
I really wish that she would be added to the game. Ashley Lawrence is an awesome person & actor. She really loves her time in Horror films and is CONSTANTLY reveling in Horror stuff as seen on her Twitter account. I hope BHVR will consider trying to get her character of Kirsty added, as she was a part of 3 of the films, 4 if you count a small cameo in the 3rd movie. She's often seen as the main protagonist not unlike Nancy from the original Nightmare on Elm Street franchise had.

Demogorgon doesn't exist apparently.
*things that didn't age well*
As for Modern Killers, we really have zero iconic or truly memorable ones off the top my head.

This map was great for Pig, Ghostface and Scratch Mirror Myers. So, nope not happy to see it gone.
Besides I'd take any amount of Hawkins Maps over Midwich. If I could have ANY map go, it be that one.

...But it's not gone yet. You can still get it until November, if you want to.
I know, I know. I'm just thinking forward to when it IS gone.
-
Sadly there will be a lot of people who don't care or are purely apathetic about this. Mostly because many don't have/care about the licensed characters OR they have them and have the "**** you I got mine" attitude.
I think it sucks, majorly. Having any content removed is something I do not like. Down the line there will be players faced off against a Demogorgon and be interested to play them, only to find out they can't play as them anymore. And while this is all perfectly legal and "fair" it's a huge upset.
I especially hate losing the map. It was one of thr more fun ones for myself as both Survivor and Killer. Doubly so for me playing stealth Killers...rip an option for Scratch Mirror Myers...The Game rework nixed that map being a good one for that meme build, sorta same as the Hospital being a bet less great for it.

A weremole. I like it.
If ya know, ya know this Weremole
-
No, I actually enjoyed this map as both Killer and Survivor. Was great as Ghostface, Pig and Scratch Mirror Myers, which were my fav ways to play DBD
-
Probably the thing I hate the most of the news is that the map is going away....since the Game rework, Hawkins was pretty much the last good use of Scratch Mirror Myers.
-
Yep, this is pretty much me experience as Killer the last few games I played. SOMETIMES I'll have a few moments of stability, but as soon as a chase goes off, a Dead Hard, a unhook, window vault, Survivors spazzing out their movements, it becomes a red light green light game for me.
-
Gods what I would give to have this game optimized for consoles (PS4 here) to run smoothly and consistently.
-
I've more or less retired from DBD. Awhile ago it was all I'd play and I had fun. Played a bunch of Killers, had a couple Survivors leveled for when my GF & I would play together. It was so much fun. But eventually performance issues and the terrible attitude of the playerbase drove her to stop playing. So I just focused on as Killer for a good while...but now seeing month after month of performance issues...I've barely kept to more than a match or two a week.
Just not having fun when I'm fighting the game AND Survivors at the same time so often. BHVR wanting to keep the gravy train of new Chapters and new Rifts and just mildly attempt to placate us console players ensures I probably won't ever play the game as heavily as I used to.
-
@GannTM said:
How has performance been for you console players lately?
Last I played last week it was abysmal as Killer, as Survivor it had some bad moments but was FAR better in comparison. I wanted to practice Pyramid Head, since I'm a diehard fanatic of the Silent Hill franchise and I just couldn't enjoy the matches. Whenever I'd use PH's power I'd lag/stutter. Made it unfun to out corruption down and even worse to try to land his range attack.
Lot of Survivors I played know about the performance issues and seem to be trying to make it worse by using Dead Hard when not being chased or running around me to cause a stutter. One match as Trapper I lunged to hit a Survivor (2 of em healing) and it looked like I was gonna hit, whiffed and was held frozen for at least 3 solid seconds before the animation finished.
Tomorrow I'll try to play some matches, but I'm really not holding out for much hope for any sense of stability. It's the number one reason I haven't been able to really play this game for so long. Blight being added was when I last tried playing seriously and it was bad back then for myself. Honestly the last time I remember just having an absolute blast playing was when Ghost Face was added. I was playing non-stop for a good while. Most of my issues began when they started redoing the maps graphics and it's just kinda festered since then.
-
I'm somewhat dreading hopping back into DBD because of the MMR changes. Was already struggling because of performance issues when playing, not looking forward to possibly getting matched a bunch of times VS groups that have no busbeing matched against me
-
Some kind of Dr. Jekyll/Mad Scientist look. Wouldn't even mind a Alien or Vanpire look, given how grotesque he looks.
-
I want original Killers and a few remaining iconic slashers from the 80s/90s & early 2000s Horror era way more...
-
My guess is to not be an exact 1 for 1 TV in the movie,.to make it less obvious and have people guess it being The Ring (having to play a VHS Tape) or FNAF since some people are really wanting it. Sure the Red Flower is the dead giveaway but unless you pause it you barely see it flash on the screen.
-
I'm of the opposite kinda....I have way more fun on the RPD map (I guess being a RE veteran helps) and even if I get a little turned around, I can find my way back.....
Midwich on the other hand can burn in the trash fire it belongs in. I get turned around way too much as Killer, and the FOV + Performance issues have me easily bumping into walls & corners. I also outright hate the design of it as it being mostly large hallways with an annoying way to traverse the top & bottom floors. It is easily my least favorite map, let alone indoor map.
-
I've been on a hiatus for a long time now, but came back for a lil bit for the anniversary and briefly for the last Bloodhunt. May try to play a little more, but being a PS4 player it is very off-putting with the horrible performance issues. Tried to have a little fun with Pyramid Head the last time I played, but I'd lag whenever I tried to use his power and had to just be a M1(R2) Killer for the match. It just sucked out the fun outta the game and pretty much negated any attempts to practice playing as him.
So, tentatively going to try to stick with the game but just not care as much as I usually would with a game. Console just badly needs fixes and optimization to make the gameplay smoother...but that seems unlikely to fully happen.

Yea i play on ps4 and its to a certain point where i dont play killer as much and just play survivor because the frame drops are so bad
I tried playing Pyramid Head for the first time ever....the game lagged/stuttered every time I would use his power...it was really an awful experience.
-
The Game used to be one of my fav maps. Even as Survivor I liked it a fair bit with how intense and hard games could be. Was a nice challenge. The rework with a fuckton of pallet after pallet just sucked out the fun. It was like whiplash when og maps used to have combos of safe pallets.
The mobile game/team doing a Bloodpoint event based around the Saw characters is super smart and just invites people to be more chill. Main DBD needs more chill vibes imo
-
It's a bit too big, but I liked it as my time with Survivor and the couple matches as Pig on there. Tho I'm sure some Killers probably HATE it.
As far as worst map, my vote will always go to Midwich being far, far worse than other maps. I absolutely loathe It's design of the top & bottom floors and the Limited way to get around the level...plus my FOV as a console player on there has me constantly turned around and bumping into walls & such. I didn't experience that on RPD, or even Hawkins Lab as other indoor examples.
-
4 toolboxes. I always forget to look for keys with how small they are, but if I saw Keys I'd play less friendly too.

It literally does.
Go read the thread, tell me that's not the game's fault.
I wouldn't bother debating it any further, my guy. Just gonna go round in circles
-
I think they appear a bit too frequently at times in the Bloodweb. Gets to be annoying at how many I have rotting because I'd rather use BP Offerings unless I'm doing a meme build like Scratch Mirror Myers
-
Fog stuff is junk anymore. Luck stuff kinda sucks unless a few offerings are stacked
-
Doctor
Blight
Deathslinger
Ghostface
Maybe Clown, tho more crafty than smart

This is why I kind of dislike the Tomes; because they retcon already existing lore.
Yeah, I hated what they did with the Nurse with her Tome & backstory. Most I've enjoyed most of em to be honest, but there's a few that are very questionable.
-
That was the last of their ammo/Entity was just dragging em into the Realm and yeeted their stuff. It's really not that deep tho, so just have fun with it!
-
Nope, my Survivor mains and future mains to rotate I still like. My heart goes out to some of the other old guard that had reworks done that aren't to ya'lls liking anymore.
My Survivor mains:
Nea
Ash
Dwight
Heather
Killers I still love too
-
Any more? If I had fun and/or made enough Bloodpoints in the match. Before I'd say it being a 3 or 4 kill...but ehh I lost care about kills so much

Was it really the reason they used ? I’m on ps5 now but my ps4 never had issues with fog. My favorite add on was the murky reagent and blood moon
I feel like it was probably a nightmare to try to have on newer maps/redesigned maps and made for more work for them. Dunno officially, just spitballing it
-
Yeah, my console still lags/freezes at times when playing. Mostly noticeable when I play Killer than Survivor. Only gotten in one game as Killer today and noticed that still whenever I hit a Survivor, or they use an exhaustion perk that my game freezes for a couple seconds. Played a handful of Survivor games and didn't notice it and if it happened it wasn't as obvious.
I'll have to see what my other matches are, but yesterday was a bit worse tbh....like if it keeps getting better I'll be all for it and if it actually ends then I'll finally shut up about how bad console is entirely
-
I like it better than Midwich. That game map is godawful for me to play on as Killer. Just corridor simulator. RPD is a bit too big, but least I have fun running around it, or having better ways to cut people off/hide off in the side as Survivor
-
I'm bummed because this game still exudes unfun despite me wanting to love it. I mainly play Killer but the performance is so awful that I can't play seriously. So, trying to play Survivor and it's awful. Ppl DC at the start, or Killers are just tunneling/camping POS that are toxic about it all.
There's a Double Bloodpoint event and I'm barely getting any value from it because Killers are just face rolling on their damn keyboard.
So unless console performance gets fixed, esp as Killer...I'm just kinda left trying to enjoy that game
-
Same deal/energy as Adam having shorter /longer hair as a cosmetic to buy....

I love how the contest doesn't even include PS4 as an option if you win....... Us PS4 Players are the red-headed stepchild to BHVR and they plain ol hate us it seems...
