Just check the communication roadmap ;)

But according to this community, the devs never communicate anything ever. Why do they have a roadmap about communication? They don't say anything.

  • I am ok with the suggestion, but the game would suffer from it. I don't want to argue comms vs SWF vs discord etc.

If that would happen the game would suffer because the lag to the host killer would be nearly unbearable for some killers. There is enough lag since the game is hosted client side, just imagine that much more bandwidth being flooded so players could talk.

No thank you for the Quality of Life that this prevents from taking a dive. Now if Dedicated servers were a thing....we may have a different discussion.

  • @SnakeSound222 said:
F13, a game that has a low playerbase and cannot have any new content added to it, just released dedicated servers. If F13 and Gun can support them, then DbD and BHVR can too.

While they can, it just is not as easy as snapping your fingers and poof dedicated servers.

This game would take a huge amount of recoding for P2P to be removed. I am not saying I have many issues with dedicated servers being brought in, but I have a huge issue with them gutting the code which will probably break quite a bit more in this game than intended.

  • @AmorePrincess @ACEvHEARTS Thank you. I trust not_queen. I had not seen it posted anywhere recently. I know so many people speculate on DLC and everything else and have ZERO proof. I trust her word and maybe it may not be summer, maybe early fall, but I trust they are working on things.

  • @Artorias said:

well streamers are the most reliable source

This is the problem. While streamers are valued members of the community and many times do sign NDAs which allow them early looks at the content they are not official members of the BHVR team. Many, yell and scream to fix the game or that it is broken. Some even quit playing altogether, while I enjoy watching them, I know they are not paid members who sit daily on planning meetings in the community. They have a job which requires them to gain hype for their own channel. So why not create hype by spreading information that may not be entirely right to get viewers to come to their channel.

I like Bahroo, he is an amazing streamer, but in many cases, I just wait until BHVR sends out a tweet or officially puts the DLC on the store. Then I know it is ready.

  • @Bug_Reporter said:
The problem is that the devs dont have a routine for their updates, but we still try to build the hype around that like for other companies u know... Today is 3 months after Clown release, 2 weeks after PTB, all the content is ready and without game breaking bugs, its on the day and hour of all previous releases... It makes no sense to me, delaying the update =/.

Makes no sense, delaying the update. Hmmmm..Who said it was delayed? I know you have already been thrown down and kicked by saying "nothing offical from BHVR on the date of release" but honestly, maybe it is scheduled for another day and was never planned on being released today. That does not mean it was delayed, just not ready to release to the public.

The thing is people are excited about things, but why can we not just sit back and wait until something official is announced. Sure, that happens a day or two before and sometimes the day of, but in all reality, it boils down to being a game. Enjoy life, maybe go outside and look at life during the day, and it will be here when the devs are ready.

Does it suck for those of us who have jobs? yeah, but that is part of being an adult. We have to make decisions based on the information we have available. I did not make the decision to stay home or rearrange my schedule, because I don't know enough information to make that decision.

  • @Artorias said:

because bhvr doesnt always do an announcment so when streamers say a date its pretty much an official announcment

OHHHHH RIGHT...someone who does not officially work for the company is saying something they read on a forum post somewhere else. Yep, that is a credible source of knowledge.

Again, assumptions are the key to all that is evil in this game. Just wait and quit assuming things will happen until they are announced on an OFFICIAL account of BHVR.

  • @Artorias said:

they wanted to do a 2xbps event because there were issues on PlayStation the bbq was planned before the issues happened so there is still a 2xbps weekend coming to SoonTM

The 2XBPs event did have issues, but what I am getting at is that the Event may have not been planned and was a response to the issues on PlayStation. There was no roadmap or anything official that said "Hey, we already had an event planned for summer so in addition to that event we will be doing another double bp event" So who is to say that the BBQ was the event for players?

  • @deadbydaylightfan said:

The wiki said it and today is around the same time as curtain call did hence why people thought it was today but most people are angry at the fact they won’t even say “it’s not today sorry stay tuned” instead of “soon tm” which would cause fake hype and disappointment

This is where the problem is. It is not a Devs problem at all. Someone who assumes something is coming is just adding to the issues and the mess. The devs may not have planned it to release today, but people thought that was the case. In almost all previous DLCs the teaser would be announced and 2-3 weeks later the DLC would come out. That is where this assumption came from.

HOWEVER, BHVR never stated an official release date. So it is our fault for ASSUMING something. Why is it so hard for people to just wait until an official announcement to come.

  • @lyric said:

No they said there would be another one , just not announced yet

Did they say it after the BBQ event? The last I had heard from official channels was that the Anniversary 2XP event was extended 2 days and that another opportunity for more blood points would be by summers end. BBQ event was an opportunity for more BP. I have not seen or heard anything about more BP events after the BBQ event.

So I am safe to assume the BBQ event was the blood point event that was promised.

  • We had a 2xp blood points event in early July and then an AUGUST BBQ event. So, you had 2 events.

My question is why? I think it ruins the immersion that you are the killer unless you can hear yourself hum. Try humming right now? Can you hear it? Yes, then it should be in the game for immersion sake.

Why can't Freddy hear his nursery rhyme?

Because it is not Freddy singing. It is the children he has killed warning others of their fate and Nancy Thompson (the Heroine from the movies) comments that this rhyme is used to "keep the boogy-man away". So Freddy cannot hear it himself since he is not the one doing the singing or warning others he is on his way.

It is the reason you can hear him laugh when he puts someone to sleep though. You can also hear the pigs own breathing and other things like that that put you immersively in the killer's shoes.

  • There is a very fine balance. I know survivors will complain you are tunneling, however, if you are in an active chase and they are chasing you in or around the hook area/environment that is on them. That is the survivor being a crappy teammate and not making the choice to lead you away. HOWEVER, if they lead you away and you stop mid-chase, turn around and go back to the hook, then you are soft camping.

As others have stated attack the individual who unhooked the survivor. This way it "punishes" the survivor without tunneling. I normally do this and rarely get any complaints. Now, this changes a bit from game to game, if the individual is stupid and runs back across me after I targeted someone else, all bets are off injured or not. It also changes if the team is being toxic. Flashlights every time I pick someone up, teabagging behind pallets, in plain sight etc. They are out to try to make me salty so I turn the tables.

Lastly, after generators are completed if I don't have 2 kills I will secure kills by either camping or chasing others off. That is truly late game and just to get some extra points.

  • @Nero Are you a PC Player? If so, go into steam and right click Dead By Daylight. Then select local files and verify the integrity of the game files. This may help fix your issue. Otherwise if you are playing on Console I think you maybe out of luck.

  • @Silas said:

Oh I know, I'm guilty of buying auric cells on day 1 to get those cowgirl jeans. It just sucks that they couldn't give people more incentive to buy the DLC packs. If they were going to stick to reskins, they could have at least made an exclusive reskin of her base outfit rather than just the top. ;(

You get a discount as well. $10 auric shards buys both characters or $7 with skins and such too and both characters. If my math is correct that is a savings and you get more things.

  • I never get them...Oh yeah, that is because i have the DLC. Guess there is a perk to buying the DLC.

  • My question is why? I think it ruins the immersion that you are the killer unless you can hear yourself hum. Try humming right now? Can you hear it? Yes, then it should be in the game for immersion sake.

  • Technically speaking isn't that what the Fog Collection is? Ending on the 10th/11th. That can be purchased with money or shards, but you need major shards to buy those. Now, it would be better if you could not spend money on them, but I think this is a cool idea. Maybe one for each new DLC released.

  • What killer do you play?

  • @trendyfartknocker said:

    @Nickenzie said:
Cool idea but... SWF would have huge queue times since most killers just want a chill game, ya know?

Then the SWF can break up and go solo, or wait. It's silly to suggest that long wait times are frowned upon but forcing unfair circumstances on the killer is A-OK. As it is, killers experience stupid long wait times at higher ranks.

Further, if the SWF group REALLY wants to play together, they can do KYF as an option. If they don't want to do KYF but are adamant about SWF, that tells you they are clearly looking to use the SWF advantage to rank up, something killers have no option to do or counter.

I really disagree with most of what you said. I main killer, but now and then I have friends who I play with. As a killer, I don't see that wanting to play with your friends is toxic. Are their toxic squads out there, sure, but you are talking maybe at most 10% of the SWF teams that are toxic. Most are just 2 friends playing a game together there are very few 4 person teams let alone those which tactfully are there to abuse a killer.

With that said, "WE DON'T NEED MULTIPLE QUEUES" this segregates the game and punishes people for actually wanting to play together. Is it less enjoyable for the killer? Sure. However, there is a greater good that SWF has implemented.

In the first few months, SWF did not exist. I am not sure if you were around for that or not, but let me throw out a description of what had happened. Killer/Survivor would queue up. Solo players would be fine for a while then a lobby would fill. 5 seconds tick by on the clock and someone drops out. Another and another and another. Then more people would drop out until you had to wait for the entire process again.

I am not sure what your current lobby wait times look like, mine as killer are 2-3 minutes maybe more. As a survivor almost instantaneous. Before for both a Survivor queue and a Killer Queue you would be looking at about 10+ minutes. The reason all this happened...People wanted to play with their friends.

All you are doing by "implementing" this solution is punishing people who want to play with their friends.

The other thing you are severely misunderstanding is that most SWF teams don't play KYF for a reason....They don't get bloodpoints. This game is a heavy grind and people want to be rewarded for their time. I would rather solo queue than play KYF.

Your last statement is very selfish and not understanding. Most SWF teams as I said are not toxic and many don't want to use "SWF advantage to rank up" many times it is just 2 people. Sometimes 4 people teams just want to have trust that when they are on the hook their teammates will actually do something instead of letting them die. Sometimes they want to farm some points to work on their grind.

I also think you are putting way to much weight in ranking up. RANK MEANS NOTHING. Ask most Rank 1 players and they are actively depipping to drop rank to play matches, why? OH RIGHT, the queue time is so long. The trials are crap, etc.

This is not a Rank thing it is a "grind" and have fun thing.

TL;DR: This is a terrible idea.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHA you think that there is complaining now. Just wait until Killers/Survivors on a console would have to go against PC players. The yells and screams of cheating will be saltier than the screams of Survivors yelling for a Nurse Nerf.

Ahhhhh I can hear it now, PC is so much better they have such an advantage on mouse and keyboard over our control....ahh

  • @Master said:

Please explain, why do you deserve the hatch and why doesnt the killer not deserve the kill?
Seems like he found hatch first....

Neither one deserves it. If a killer is camping a hatch either wait it out (snooze fest) and the killer may get bored and dc/come to look for you. OR GO FREAKING DO GENERATORS.

I suggest waiting for a few seconds to see the killers behavior then go do generators. You know where the hatch is thanks to the killer no need to look for it.

  • They just had two events. The 2nd Anniversary 2XP event, then they just had the BBQ event 2-3 weeks ago. The next DLC release is speculated for Tuesday next week, so I would really doubt any event will be granted before then. If anything and again this is speculation Halloween October would be the next time an event would occur.

  • I think your point is an interesting one.

First off, I will say that I believe the new killer is a great killer. She will take a huge learning curve to understand, but I think that the "great killers" that you mentioned will truly love her. Complexity is great, simplicity is great, but it is difficult to merge the two without someone getting angry or upset.

With that said. For the past 18+ months, killers have been stomped on. I do not care if you are a survivor main or a killer main this is not whining it is the truth to the game. Now, this is difficult because there is a 4v1 mentality and that turns into a MOB very quickly. Games and Post Game chats turn into teabagging, refusing to leave, and toxic hate groups. As a killer it is a very stressful environment already and adding the behavior of survivors is even worse.

Now, this game boils down into a few things, but at its core it is did we have fun? For Survivors did we escape normally means we had fun. For them did we pip can we see a progression? They had fun. When a killer takes away a survivor's potential to survive they "take away their fun" This can be shown by how many Tunneling and Camping posts/complaints they are.

Now a killer's fun is a bit harder to decide. Is it that I killed a number of potential survivors? Is it that the game is just enjoyable? Is it that I provided the best experience for the survivor that I could? I base this personally on one factor. Did I enjoy myself?

My joy comes out of being competitive. My fun is when I am in a chase and I get a survivor last second before they make a window juke. Better yet if we have a fun chase and we out mind game each other. I don't like to steamroll survivors. I try not to tunnel someone who I have hooked and try to target the one who unhooked the other. I personally try to make the survivors match the best I can, but they don't all survive.

With that said survivors have many escapes plays. Many more when you open that SWF door. Flashlights, Instant Heals, Pallets, Windows, poorly designed infinite loops, and perks (DS/Deliverance). What makes the killers get stomped on is the teams that can complete gens in nearly record time (partially because skill checks are too easy others are BNP etc). Then survivors have too many chances to escape.

I have always argued that the game should be balanced around Rank 10. The core players who are skilled, but not skilled so much that the game is too easy. HOWEVER....lets not talk about balance. Let's talk about fixes... and I don't mean just adding a new perk/killer who attempts to fix the flavor of the quarter broken mechanic. (That is what new killers are doing....Nurse fixes pallet loops, Huntress speed boost/dead hard, doctor fixed stealth, etc.)

    1. Repair the maps (I know some work is being done here), but there needs to be more line of sight breaks, 0 infinite loops, and a different way for survivors to get away.
    2. Add something other than generators to do!!! I know this is a core mechanic but adjust this. Maybe they need to get gas from 1 of 10 different gas pumps...Maybe they need to get a fuze...something different.
    3. Skill checks. Not sure where to begin...Space is just too easy. Maybe add in a number press or control press...something that makes survivors need to pay attention more to what they are doing. Make it stressful, which it should be.
    4. Punish/reduce the tunneling/camping. Sure I know it is a strategy and yes I know it works. It also mines salt. So maybe add in a bonus for targeting a different player. Maybe the loss of all perks/bloodlust for X amount of seconds when there is a survivor on a hook, BUT NOT AFTER THE LAST GENERATOR IS COMPLETED. This is so the killer is not hurt by attempting to secure a kill after the survivors objective is nearly completed.

This should slow down the game, improve the mechanics, and make all killers stronger by fixing what is wrong. Don't just give them a blanket to fix one aspect of the game, fix the game and then the killers will be better.

TL:DR: So are killers going MIA, yes, but I think you will see a return as killers really understand it is not that the killers are weak, but that many things are broken and are needing to be fixed over just making the killers stronger. Remember this is a horror based game, make it scary for the survivors not the killer afraid of the survivors.

the divide Is very noticeable, mainly because what I've seen from the devs is they care quite a bit more about pc than they do console. Pc has more features, as well as access to testing out the newer stuff MUCH earlier than anyone else.

I think the "care about PC" comes from the fact that out of their 70 or so person team that 60 of them are from the original PC build team. While this game has made some money BHVR themselves were under a different umbrella. That makes hiring and planning a bit different as the parent company can have a large amount of influence on overall product.

With that said, if you have a development team in place that knows one skill and knows it well enough they are not going to just up and move them to the console team. Now that BHVR owns its own content, it would not surprise me to see the console team be expanded and improved upon. However, these are just growing pains, they aren't going to fire 1/2 of the workforce to bring in a development team for Console.

As for PTB this is a very tricky situation. So as far as I am aware no company does a Public Test Build on console. (Please someone provide me data if I am wrong) Now Public Test Builds are much different than Alpha or Beta testing.

Alpha/Beta testing is a limited release build in order to stress test/bug fix on the game, but this is in the early stages of development. Many times on the dedicated servers that the game will end up being played on. Once publicly released those servers are converted to actual game servers. Also companies like MS/Sony require developers to not only submit the updates for certifications but require them to purchase server space to host a server(s) that is dedicated to a testing build of the game. Steam, to the best of my knowledge, does not require any of this.

For example, Rainbow Six Siege also does a PTB for new content, but that is only available to PC players (console players can play the build if they play on the PC PTB too). I guess maybe DBD could figure out a way to open up accessibility for those who do not own a PC copy, but to play it on PC? I am not sure the logistics of that, but you are also only talking a 1-2 week window for massive testing.

Maybe someday in the future, more companies or even the console companies will make it easier for publishers to provide test builds to users, but I don't think that will be anytime soon. It just seems like it is too much work and cost for such little testing time.

  • @BigBadPiggy said:

Also I never said survivors would have urban evasion, If I did say they would could you please point it out too me because I can't see it.

You never did. I was just giving it as an example in the current game mode where killers can not find survivors. I was using it as an example for you. Otherwise, I really like the idea.

  • @BigBadPiggy said:

The killer will have no perks, addons, red stain, or terror radius (Removing the killers terror radius and red stain will help promote fear in the survivors). The survivors will have no perks or items.

There either has to be a game mechanic or perk that prevents this from just being an immersion simulator. Games right now are painful when the killer cannot find the last survivor - dark mist and a P3 Claudette - makes her invisible for 20+ minutes as she urban evades around the entire map.

Now I know you said no perks, but a game mechanic that made the maps much smaller or something like a BR where the entity closes the outside of the map to one of 12 maps or shrinks the map as round continues. Otherwise, every game would be a win for the survivors for just hiding and walking.

  • @BACKSTABBER said:
Please devs, type few lines of code and make it real

counting by mind is simply annoying and ridiculous

it is clearly a logical function not implemented yet,

thanks for your lines of code

I don't think it needs that. The perk should be an advantage to the killer. Giving a timer to the Survivors takes part of that away.

For example, If I know that Blood Warden is going to expire in X amount of time and that makes it much easier for me to decide to go save someone, go and hide in a corner somewhere, or start sprinting to the gate.

I think it really injures a perk that is situational only. Keep the killer's perk hidden and force the survivors to make the choices without information.

Now Make Your Choice is fine since it implements a specific condition on a person not on the map entirely.

  • @sergantuss said:

yea bit its not you who gona ban me
    your anticheat can

The Anticheat is from a 3rd party...So if they are going to ban you they are going to ban you. So we cannot state with a 100% certainty that you will not be banned, but with about a 90% certainty many people have modified the INI without issues.

  • Again, this is not a valid argument.

Can this game be accessed by both PC and Console...Yes. So can 1000s of other games and many of those games also have platform-specific exclusives. Soul Calibur had Darth Vader exclusive on PS consoles. Link was even playable on Nintendo Consoles. This is nothing new! It is just a "which device to I choose to play on more thing"

As for Bill they added him before the console version was even released. Also he is a property that is owned by Valve and they gave permission to use him.....to increase sales on the platform. Besides you have all Bill's perks available to you. They also gave all console users Spark of Madness for Free. PC users had to pay for that one.

You want to talk about a divide it is because you are making it one. If you come to the realization that there is a time before this game was on the console you would understand that there is very very very little unbalance between the two. Yes, the masks are a cross-marketing strategy for another game that is made by BHVR and will be released on PC. Maybe on Console, but they are not on sale and no reason to provide them for free when they are trying to get people to buy the other game.

Now, DLC releases are a bit messed up. Is that a BHVR issue? I am a bit doubtful about that. The last two releases were held up because of issues with both the MS and Playstation certification process. The Saw Chapter released right on time on Console...The next day on PC....and 1 week or so later because of Sony. Clown was a mess because the certifications were not approved by the Console companies, mainly because of a huge update and a new currency addition. Now we can come back to this debate after Spirit is released and see how that plays out, but I think they are trying to get them out around the same timeframe.

So the divide is 90% mental and 10% technical.

  • @Mrbombastic said:
Dcers need to be in timeout for 10 mins and lose a rank for every dc

How would this help? The reason so many players DC is because they WANT to lose rank. They want easier or less lobby wait times. They should not lose a Rank as many times this is a help to the 5-1 rank players who want to lose rankings.

10 minutes is very extreme. I can suggest a tiered timeout period in a 24 hour period 1 dc 1 minute. 2 dcs 2 minutes 3 dcs 10 minutes 4 dcs 1 hour 5 dcs 12 hours. If the come back then it becomes a 24 hour -7 day ban.

  • @BigBadPiggy said:
Not everyone has the money to buy a pc good enough to play the damn games on it so we have to resort to the cheaper solution. Just because it has a better operating system doesn't mean it's easier to access.

This is fair, but if Consoles being the cheaper option has access to exclusive content why shouldn't PCs be able to have exclusive content too?

  • @Master said:
Since the game cant detect how the DC happens, both needs to be punished equally intentional and unintentional DCs.

This is the completely wrong way of looking at things. Remember it is a community-wide thing that would be implemented. This means that areas that have really crappy internet service, even though they are in the same region of the world, would be punished if they DC because of their internet. While I think it is not an excuse it happens.

You should not punish all for the problems of a few. I think the system in place is a threshold/ratio of games that they DC from. While it is extremely annoying to have someone DC they are well within their right to do so. If they hit that limit they will be punished. They play 6 games and DC from 4 or so they are still fine.

Now I can recommend they reduce that ratio to 3 games out of the last 10, but not much more than that. The other thing I would try to implement is that the game just does not start if less than 4 survivors are attempting to join.

This is a very similar debate to the balance issue. If you want to balance this game to Rank 1 players, then you need to balance the DC to the rank 1 players. If they disconnect 12 times to depip/hate playing against Killer Name/or because they want to, then everyone should get that same respect.

  • @BigBadPiggy said:
See what as an exclusive? The game or the masks? I feel like the devs are doing the same thing they did with legacy, It'll be limited time and only pc will have access to it and when console finally gets it we won't be able to get anything because the limited time thing has ended. Its unfair.

First off, DeathGarden is a separate game and team, being developed under the BHVR label. Sure Ash was part of the original DBD team, but they don't influence one another's game. So while there are exclusives to PC, right now the game is only PC so it really is not exclusive....just platform related.

Secondly, Legacy is an entirely different discussion. Legacy was a reward for the extremely difficult grind that was the blood web before a console was even released. So it is not as much a PC exclusive as it was a 1 time award that players earned.

Thirdly Games like Red Dead Redemption 2 are not coming to PC and many times exclusives are what drives players to a specific platform. Battlefield, CoD etc have to get this game exclusive for buying it on this platform or this item for buying it here. This has been a thing since Xbox and Playstation released.

I will not pull a master race card, but what makes you chose a game on a Playstation over one on an Xbox? It is the platform you choose when both options are available. So if consoles can have exclusives why can't PCs? You also have the option to get those cosmetics etc if you purchase and play the game on PC. Think of it as a console, it is just a different operating platform to play on.

  • @Master said:

Why do you (devs) dont punish DCing? I know about the automatic system that will trigger when DC rate suceeds an absurdely high rate, but obviously it isnt working properly.
Why is there no queue time punishment after a DC, preferably an increasing punishment.

The system detecting DCs is already in place, so it should be easy to implement such a system

I am not Not_Queen, but the answer is extremely easy. This game does not use dedicated servers. You may think what does that have to do with anything? It actually has everything to do with it.

Right now one of the key things the developers have said is that when SWF teams/lobbies are created once they connect to the Killer, who is the host, any disconnection would force the lobby to be rebuilt.

With that said, once a player is connected to the killer's lobby (server) then DbD summons home a few times to provide details. I believe this happens every 5 minutes or so. (I cannot prove this, but it seems logical). It calls once to establish the connection and once to provide a few match updates. Then a final report at the end.

Since connections can be lost a few ways, killer lag switches, poor network connection issues, really high ping time, or even game crashes, a True disconnection is hard for the service to pick up over a connection that is not hosted on their own servers.

They could go back and investigate a users game history to see if they are a chronic disconnector, which is where their Bans come in, but that takes either a logarithm or human to investigate. Then there must be a decision made.

So they err on the side of a connection issue versus purposeful disconnection since it takes a large amount of time and effort for even a partial ban. Not to mention being understaffed/overworked.

So while there maybe a system in place, they are not running the correct services/hardware to provide the solution you are looking for.

  • I would assume this will be the new normal. When a new killer comes out, they will probably have a new theme that will play.

Not that the old DBD music is done, but it will probably be a while before they return it.

  • Did you get perma-banned from the forums or from the game?

If you get perma-banned in the game that is because you did something that was against the rules. A perma-ban on the forums does not mean an in-game ban.

If you said something hateful on the forums and happened to be banned in the actual game, that is most likely a coincidence and you most likely broke some in-game rule, maybe use of similar language.

  • They have investigated it, but with the amount of recoding that would need to be done to complete that we would be looking at version 3.0 or later before it could even be implemented. It is not an easy thing to do to recode an entire game that has never used that before.

So while it was discussed, I would weigh heavily that this is just a request that will never be fulfilled.

  • Freddy rework was stated by Mccote in a Twitch Stream yesterday or Tuesday that Freddy is planned for the Mid-Season Patch.

  • I know the Mod has spoken, but this game should not be about farming. While I know the grind is a long and difficult process, it should not be about power leveling.

I look at farming like this...1-2 times maybe during an event sure. If your everyday behavior is going out to farm, no thank you. The reason I both like and sometimes dislike this game is the grind. I like it that when you are first starting out or have less than 200 hours (sometimes more) you don't have a P3 character with every possible perk to tier 3. I like that it forces you to spend time and effort to get those perks in a bloodweb.

You may think I am crazy, but there is just something nice about not always going up against the same boosted players running the same boosted perks.

@Nightmare247 Not to be rude but I assume you are in low ranks (17 - 20) from your arguments. I remember seeing you defend DS in another thread saying it is fine as is. No sane player with at least a few hundred hours in game would say that. DS in its current state is broken, period. Also, gen rush is real. It ain't survivor's fault in anyway after all it is their objective. It is just bad game design especially considering SWFs in Comm, second chance perks and awful maps with pallets every 20 feet away which makes non-billy, nurse killers almost obsolete in high ranks without being heavily dependent on add-ons.

You are not rude, that is a great assumption, but a bit off. I took about 1 month off (vacation work picking up etc) and started around 15 after the mid-season patch and the rank resets. I normally play between 8-4. I play matches and either leave at the end of matches/exit early to depip or allow a killer to hook me second stage and die on hook purposefully as a survivor. As a killer it is incredibly hard not to pip. I personally don't have any passion or drive to be in those top ranks and I find these ranks currently to be the best for matchmaking. I am sure many people can agree.

But there are plenty of top-tier players who are not on an SWF team. Many times they just happen to pair up and their ideas and skills are similar. You can watch some Twitch streamers to see that many times the same names pop up (could be stream sniping), but they are not in voice communications and are still obliterating killers. Those are also the same players who don't run DStrike and often the killers don't run ruin.

I agree that there needs to be something else to do to prevent the survivors from doing their objective. I don't believe that gen rushing happens every game. I just feel that survivors know in order to escape/win I need to do gens and very often they cannot trust the other people so they complete them.

I don't recall my DS conversation entirely, but I do remember saying it is broken, but should not be a top priority since there are far more important things to fix (like the super terrible perks at the bottom of the list). I think I agreed and said DS is annoying when all 4 run it, but if there were not so many safe pallets and window vaults they would not be as terrible.

One of my main issues is that there are very limited perks that survivors use. With the current PTB there are a few more perks to flesh out a great build for killers (one decent addition for survivors), but that now makes about 8 perks or so that killer's builds could rotate to make them viable. Survivors just don't have that. So if you rebuild the survivor's perks first. This makes DS an option unlike it is now as it is one of 5 great perks for survivors. You may see the problem take care of itself except in extremely toxic groups if there are better perks.

  • Bill is an easy choice, however, I am likely to assume it will be Michael and Laurie like @deadbydaylightfan had said. This new Halloween movie is a prime marketing point and why not add an "aged Laurie" cosmetic or updated Michael costume.

  • Convenience. They don't have to move from the couch or bed via the controller. They may have family who also uses the same computer for work or school so the PC is not available. Space...Desktop PCs take up space and even with the processing power of laptops some of those are unable to play games effectively.

How about friends? I think many of us as kids probably started playing games on the consoles. We made friends on Xbox Live or PSN that we still want to play with. They may not play PC games.

How about ease? Some people just prefer the controller over Keyboard and Mouse. Let's face it if you play controller on almost anything but Rocket League on PC you are going to get smoked by the M&K players.

So while you and I may prefer PC, there are perfectly logical reasons for some players to want to play on Console and I don't blame them.

  • @Master said:

Console players dont play on PC because they dont have a PC they can play on, a humble bundle wont change that

There are plenty of Console players who may own systems that can play the game but prefer to play on the convenience of the console. They just have not elevated yet to the premier gaming platform....PC.

  • The best perks? How do you like to play? Do you like to be the diversion? Do you like to be the disrupter? Do you like to just do generators? Do you like to play stealth?

There are meta perks, but then there are perks that help you accomplish something. What is it you want to do?

  • Maybe you should describe what it is that you want to be reimbursed for.

  • Well, part of the reason the BP are the way they are is that the Killer is 1 player versus 4 other players. Part of it is to incentivize people playing the killer versus only playing SWF/survivor matches. Also if the killer was running BBQ/Distressing those will increase bonus points. Don't forget offerings to increase BP too.

There are plenty of ways that a killer could have more bloodpoints than you. Now, if you have less than most of your teammates that maybe an issue, but to be honest if you are doing more than gens as a survivor you should normally end up with 15K plus (very easily).

As a survivor, it pays to be an ALL AROUND player versus an Objective only or stealthy player. You need a little bit of chase, a few generators, a little bit of stealth to really maximize your point value. As a killer, it does not matter how you play.

  • I am more than okay with the DeRank system now. Newer and less skilled players need a buffer zone to learn the game. Level 20 have a hard time finding matches so maybe 20 need to scan for 20-18 level players. That should increase the wait time.

There is also no reason someone who made it to rank 1 should ever be 20-15 again even with the ease it takes to get there because they are better players than 20-18...some arguably better than 15.

Benefits of Removing Self Care from the game (or nerfing it somewhat):

    • Helping to extend game time for Killers in a number of ways (see below)
    • Encouraging more use of medkits, meaning less toolboxes (i.e. less gen rushing/4 man toolbox teams)
    • Promoting more teamwork and also team-based perks like Empathy, as Survivors would need each other to heal
    • Diversifying Killer perks, as ones based on injuries and healing detection will be more viable
    • Looting perks like Pharmacy will be more useful because medkits will be more valuable
    • Not every player at low ranks will be playing Claudette just to get Self Care before anything else

    Negatives to Removing/Nerfing Self Care

    • Uncooperative teammates may not heal you
    • Makes hook saves more difficult/time consuming as you are more likely to be injured or spend longer getting healed
    • May be harsh to last remaining 1 or 2 survivors

I would remove the * Helping to extend the game time for Killers in a number of ways - from the benefit and add it to the cons. I don't have the exact metrics, but Self Care takes roughly 1 minute (I would love to have exact numbers but I could not find them) at Level 3. That is no medkits just pure self-care. That is one minute that at least 1 player is healing themselves in a corner not doing a generator, not running from you, just standing still. As a killer I could find the "healer" I can listen for whimpers I can see the blood trail.

So with the survivor healing the survivors are at 75% efficiency. 2-3 injured drops that down further.

Now a team heals decreases that healing time to 10-15 seconds. So the injured runs to the 2-3 people working on a generator and now they have more to work on that generator with since the person is healed. The time balance is not worth the removal of Self-Care.

While removal may increase the use of Medikits it does not change the overall way the game is played well enough. My suggestion would be to give every item a stack system. Brown 1, Yellow 2, Green 3, Purple 4 (this number could be discussed). The items are queued and those stacks are awarded after the trial they are collected in. Add-ons like instant heal or BNP use all the stacks of an Item. Once all stacks have used the items cannot and will not leave the trial even if someone else picks the item up. This should eliminate the stockpiling of Toolboxes, First Aid, etc. (Also All Add-ons are 1 stack)

This suggestion is much better for the health of the game, it reduces the players constantly bringing the same items. It overall helps the Quality of Life for the killer and reduces items players may not always use.

The other negative that you may not think about is that by removing/nerfing self-care it opens up another USEFUL perk slot for survivors. At least you know they will have SC and three perks. Without self-care it could be now Deliverance and DS so now as a killer they can get away twice. It makes it that much worse. At least now SC takes a useful perk slot.

I think there are plenty of other things in this game that need adjusted or perfected. Self-Care is not one of them.

Can't they push the new killer to the main build live with simple note (This new killer currently under test we will gather more info and feedback and notify you if we will make any changes ?)

They could, however, then it would not be a test. The other thing about this game is that I believe that all DLC from at least here out (I know there was a few before this) will be paid DLC. Sure there are people who would pay for early access to games and content, but why would you have people pay for a DLC in order to test it? That DLC should already have been tested and in the game.

I think the PTB is great as it. Sorry for the console players, but if it bothers you, right now Humble Bundle has a Spooky Bundle that includes DBD for PC at $15 unlock cost with quite a few more games. This will allow you to test the PTB every time it is available.
