  • How about banning people who are obviously abusing such exploits?

Make incidental exploit abuse not so innocent.

I suspect the cause is different for everyone, but I felt it was worth sharing my case for others.

Playing fine this morning, still no issue. Even the intermittent stutter typical of DBD is completely gone.

Could very well be that DBD code is just not resilient to errors, and the errors in my case specifically manifested due to XMP issues, but may be from other sources on other devices. Hard to say for sure.

Reporting back to say that XMP is now re-enabled without issue. Turns out, something was faulty on the cable modem. Ordered a replacement from Spectrum and have not DC'd ONCE in 2 days, ~5 hours of game play in the past 24 hours.

Got Frontier fiber coming in on Monday, so meh, whatever.

I am surprised replacing your router did not work i searched online a lot and that seemed like the only solution that worked.

And i hate to be a downer but i feel like disabling XMP is not going to work because i do not have it enabled and also this issue happens on consoles where you can't change those things.

    Please keep us updated though.

  • So, I've been plagued by this issue for months. Contacted support, no response. Nothing anyone could offer or do fixed it.

    I've replaced:

    • all network cables
    • all network equipment (modem, router, wifi)
    • tried ethernet vs. wifi
    • tinkered with NCSI settings, wifi adapter configs, etc.
    • reinstalled windows
    • upgraded internet service tier
    • replaced ram sticks
    • updated all relevant drivers (5+ times)

NOTHING. An occasional ping would turn up packet loss, but never while the game disconnected. Google meet and or teams (apps I use on the daily) would occasionally drop a call, but nothing overly suspicious or seemingly related. Nothing in the event logs (app, system, wifi, etc.) that corresponded to the disconnect times.

Finally, today, despite being a 25+ year veteran of the PC scene, I got the bright (dumb!?) idea to disable XMP.

Have not been kicked since, despite being kicked 4 times earlier in the day.

Try turning down your RAM speed, if you're the tinkerer type that has it boosted. For my case specifically, there was no other outward indication that RAM could have been the issue, but it appears to have worked. I've played 10 games in a row with no stutter, no lag, and importantly, no disconnects.

  • 20230927_00bw.jpg

24 hours now, and I'm honestly afraid to try again. I don't know if there's a better support channel, but at this point, the game is literally unplayable. I've reinstalled steam and the game. Tried without Windows Firewall. I've upgraded my wifi. Tried with a wired connection. Updated all drivers. Rolled them back to various versions. Tried with and without passive NCSI and/or active NCSI probing enabled. Ran a ping monitor - no connection drop during the "disconnected from server" period. I've tried everything thing I know possible as a senior network engineer.

Can't tell anything from the logs because they're written in a binary (possibly encrypted) format. The game tells me nothing other than the generic disconnected from host, you're hosed message. I have no idea how to get in touch with actual support for a game I've spent hundreds of dollars on that won't let me play.

  • 6 hours now...

I can provide a DBD log, but prefer not to post it openly.

  • And... now I have a 1 hour penalty. Please, someone, help?

  • Sitting here typing this as I await another 30 minute penalty. Posted in another thread, but at this point, all I can do is shout and hope someone pays attention.

  • As with @neuromances , I'm getting this several times a day and each time it gives me a DC penalty. I'm up to 30 minutes now and I may as well not even try. Seems to have come with the last patch. No issues before that.

  • I had a game the other day where the survivors all threw the game and I asked why. They said the pallets were bugged and I was passing right through them. I didn't see the pallets in question. They were completely invisible to me. It was like the pallet never spawned.

  • It's a bit premature to say for sure, but I went into Windows 11 Antivirus settings, under App and browser control, then under Exploit protection, and added program settings for the DBD shipping .exe and the Easy Anti-Cheat .exe and turned off all of the 23 options listed, and haven't had any issues since the last big timeout.

I don't know if the problem is fixed, but I hope this helps some of you. It seems pretty clear to me that something in DBD or EAC is conflicting with Windows security, which is why it's intermittent and only affecting some of us at best.

  • Adding my discontent to the pile here. I'm up to 6 hour timeout because of this crap. I had some DC issues a few months ago which I tracked down to a faulty wifi driver. I'm a networking guy by trade, so I know when it's hardware / internet / whatever. This is not on my end. I can't play more than 3-4 matches without the DC. I'm at a total loss, but I'm about to quit the game over it. It's not worth my time and frustration if BHVR can't give two shits about fixing it short of blaming the customer.

  • Happening to me too. Seems like it just started in the last week or two. No other network issues as far as I can tell.

  • He feels bit clunky, because of his cooldowns and slow when charging your power.

I just played 10 games with Wesker and this was the single biggest frustration for me. Charging takes way too long given the movement speed decrease. And with such a long cooldown given the small hitbox, it basically makes his power useless unless you can guarantee a hit out in the open.

Devs, this is not Nurse, where holding her blink to- charge is A-OK because she can then blink through walls. You've made it so that charging the power alone removes Wesker from the fight for what.. 2.5 seconds? Even if you manage to find a survivor dumb enough not to turn a corner during that time, the hitbox is ridiculously small and greater than 50% of my lunges missed even though they appeared on target.

As far as I'm concerned, Wesker in his current state is unplayable unless you like powerless M1 killers.

  • I have been having this a lot lately. Ever since the last patch. I kept thinking it was a keyboard problem, but I've tried everything and only experience the issue in DBD. Basically, at random, pressing W does nothing. No forward movement. I have to press and release it a few times to get it "unstuck" in game. The key itself on the keyboard is fine. Pristine, even. No issues and I code for a living, so I would have at least chanced upon it elsewhere were it not limited to DBD.

  • OK, the twitter post linked above is INCORRECT or at the very least, INCOMPLETE.

In my case, I had someone down at the gate, they wiggled off, and I re-downed the exact same survivor. Immediately on picking them up after the 2nd down, they got off (no DS perk). So it has nothing to do with transferring wiggle state to a 2nd survivor. There doesn't even need to be a 2nd player involved at all.

  • Can confirm, I just experienced this two games in a row as killer.

  • It absolutely is getting worse. I'm seeing some variation of obvious cheats at least every 1 of 15 games or so. More on the weekends.

Its call red rank its a pain for that unless you are a f*ing god at this game you need to drop the creativity you had for your build or you juat dont care if the match last 4 minute

I'm a rank 1 killer (just a man, not a god) and I hardly ever use gen slowdowns. I just had a 4K on Freddy with 3 endgame perks and discordance - and I didn't even reach endgame. When I do, it's typically pop goes the weasel and I'll tell you why.

It takes a long time as a killer to realize that the best strategy to score points and "win" is not to focus on eliminating survivors and keeping the gens alive. The name of the game is hooks and hits. If you're tunnel chasing a single survivor or constantly worried about your gen count, you're gonna have a bad time. Find the weakest runner, down 'em, hook 'em, and move on to the next. You'll cap your score in no time, and you will get more 4Ks overall as you learn that suvivors being hooked or in the dying state is the greatest gen slow down perk in the game.

Sometimes you'll get the SWF that seems impossible to beat. I usually just AFK and let them play generator simulator. It's a waste of my time to cater to streamers and tweenies who thing the absolute goal of the game is to BM and taunt the other side. Stick your head in a corner and go for a poo or coffee or something. Let them figure out how un-fun the game can be when they play that way.

Gives time for other teammates to get the other gate + gives the killer and survivor extra points…

Uh, no. Every survivor has the exact same amount of time in end-game collapse. You teabagging at the gate does nothing to extend the timer for others. What is this? I can't even...

  • Can confirm this bug. Mentioned it in a separate thread about nurse issues, but same exact issue at the exit.

  • Is it possible someone did a drive-by syringe on him and after he picked himself up, the syringe kicked in bringing him from injured to full?

  • I wonder if some people realize that a 100% negative approach to discussion is likely cause your input to be disregarded.

I mean.. unless you're Huntress or Deathslinger, people're still gonna do it. They're just gonna leave before you hit them.

And I dunno if people're gonna blow a perk slot just to maybe get one of those dudes who tbags at the exit gates.

That's why it works. Because it's optional.

  • @Grandpa_Crack_Pipe said:

You aren't going to remove BM.

    Ever.

I'm sucks, but that's the cold and hard truth of it. Short of just removing mechanics until it's Beige Cube Simulator, there's always going to be a way and it's always going to piss people off until they learn to just not let things get to them.

Take a look at my suggested perk linked above. It's a pretty good way to deal with end-of-game BM, IMO.

  • @Rydog said:

What do you suggest? Removing the crouching mechanic?

Players will always find some way to needle each other. If it's not spam-crouching, or gestures or whatever, it will be something else. Let it roll off your back; this kind of low-effort trolling is not worth getting triggered over, and you're giving them exactly what they want.

Hell, this might be an even better function for No One Escapes Death, provided they make it no longer function as a Hex perk.

It would be pretty good, and fit the name, if that were the case.

A replacement for NOED - perfect. I'm in.

  • noed would be fine if there was a totem counter on the side or something. What do you expect me to do if im a solo, walk around the whole map to make sure EVERY totem is broken....i don't think so

Jeeeez, you millenial gamers want everything. minimaps, quest NPC indicators, objective counters, etc. Back in my day, we had to keep track of it mentally and we LIKED it.

Not in high ranks from what I hear.

You're forced to use every meta there is against rank 1 survivors. Otherwise, you'd have an unbelievably hard time.

Well you should stop listening to other folks.

I run various builds all the time to mix things up. And I experience varying levels of success with all of them.

Just last night, for example, I ran Hex: Devour Hope, Hex: Thrill of the Hunt, Make Your Choice and BBQ N Chili on Billy. I had 2 4Ks and a number of 2/3Ks. It was great fun and almost a million BP in less than 2 hours.

I also like to run baasement dweller build a lot: Iron Grasp, Agitation, Mad Grit, Monstrous Shrine. It's a mini-game each round to try and down the survivors as close as I can to the basement so I can eventually corral them all up.

Oh and on Spirit, I like to run Stridor, Predator, Whispers and Monitor and Abuse for much laughs, such wow.

On survivor, I run pretty much w/e the hell I feel like that day. Sometimes I'm a loot ######### (lightweight, plunderer's, aces), sometimes I'm a rescue ######### (botany, we'll make it, auto didact, etc.) and sometimes I'm uber troll (borrowed time, DS, balanced landing, self care),

If you feel the game is too "meta", mix it up, stop running the same build over and over again because it's the only one you've known any success with. Don't be afraid to lose in order to have fun.

  • Aside from the complete cryfest this post represents, the option to leave a queue is a part of multiplayer gaming at its core. Forget about your whiny survivor BS or your killer crynanigans, no player should be forced to begin a match against someone with a connection that prevents the two from communicating smoothly. The ping meter helps identify this scenario and that alone is reason to allow queue dodging. Wipe your tears and play single player if it bothers you that much.

And for the record, killer faces 4v1. 4x the perks, 4x the items, 4x the personality. All other things being equal, killer will always have the manpower disadvantage. It's a bollocks argument to suggest both sides be susceptible to the exact same pre-game parameters.

  • I don't know if that's why, but my survivor lobby has been taking ages lately. There's a good 30-60 seconds between "Join Lobby" and actually getting a lobby. That's incredibly rare.

  • 3 d/c... on a PIG... before the 2nd gen is done.

The quitter issue is a real problem. It seems like the DBD playerbase is mostly 5 year olds in older peoples' skin.

  • Chiming in to say that the devs really need to play their own game AS OTHERS DO, not in some kiddie sandbox where real world game mechanics mean jack #########. This buff was already unnecessary, but they made it even worse by going OVER THE TOP.

Watched McLean on twitch today suggest that the mechanic wasn't giving any bonus beyond what could already be achieved previously due to some "penalty" in the code. Yeah, I like McLean, but he has absolutely zero visibility into his own work, it seems, as do the rest of the developers.

  • But there are individuals who for some reason, feel they need to be condescending all the time to other people, and it’s causing issues with derailing and flaming.

There will always be trolls, for sure, but consider that a good majority of the time, those people who come across condescending and flaming have such a negative attitude because they feel their input falls on deaf ears. Legion is a mistake. It's mechanics are poorly thought out and not at all stress tested. Anyone can see this, despite BHVR placation and fanboy reassurances. Those of you who respond by suggesting it's a lack of experience or knowledge on the best way to play the character aren't helping. All you're doing is fanning the flames of malcontent. It's a two way street and you're just as big a part of the problem as the negative Nancys are.

  • I'm one of those "toxic killers" that people like to speak of. I'll use Iridescent Hatchets and Moris all day long and not feel bad about it. I'll tunnel your ass if the other players are being super stealthy because, why should I look for something I can't see when you're bleeding right in front of me?

To answer your question about camping, there are a few distinct reasons I might camp you with 5 gens left:

    • I remember you from a previous match and you were toxic before, or you had toxic post-game attitude.
    • You came in to the match dressed as brown or bloody Claudette with a flashlight or medkit (likely instaheal).
    • You thought you could loop me for more than 3 pallets or a couple of jungle gyms and escape unscathed.
    • You teabagged, emoted, or otherwise made a point to get my attention (this means you, OoO perk users)
    • Your teammates have already demonstrated their intent to body block, flashlight spam, or pallet slam
    • I just came off a really ######### SWF match that exploited every possible crutch in the game to circumvent an otherwise skillful attempt at playing killer (DS, borrowed time with body blockers, unbreakable to last minute hero save, etc.)

Of those listed, only the last 2 are beyond your control. Even so, they WILL tempt me to camp you. Also, that list is a list of reasons I might camp you with 5 gens left. If you're the first person I see and 3 gens are done before I finally get you on a hook (infinite loops, DS, flashlight saves, etc.), yes I'm going to camp you (to my own detriment most of the time) just to make point.

As a survivor, I don't OWE you anything. Contrary to popular belief, it's NOT my duty to make your game fun for you, nor is it a show of bad sportsmanship to play to the best of my ability toward my goal. As a killer, my job is to kill survivors. I don't believe in second chances, free passes or any other benevolent actions you think I'm obligated to perform. ** If you hate me at the end of a match, that means I've played well and done my job.**

  • @The_Crusader said:

I have 1500 hours in this game. Not as much as some, but more than a lot, I'd reckon. I know billy has better map pressure. This isn't really about map pressure. What I'm suggesting is that either an overall evolution in strategy or a dreadful run of bad luck is leaving me with the impression that doing gens has become less of an obstacle than it ever was before and nobody seems interested in doing anything BUT gens. I don't get the point of playing survivor if your only goal is to do the primary objective and run. You're missing out on well over half the game play with that mentality.

  • @The_Crusader said:
Is this with all killers or do you main one/a select few?

I main huntress, but I also play pig, clown, spirit and occasionally myers/leatherface/billy. I encounter these groups regardless of the killer I'm playing, but I'll say huntress since she's 70% of my games.

  • Can we not pretend everyone is running around with d strike insta heals...

HAHAHAHAHA That's the funniest thing I've heard all day. Let's ask BEHavior to provide some statistics on how many games contain at least one DS and/or one insta heal. Do you REALLY think the numbers will favor your ridiculous point of view?

  • @Might_Oakk said:
I use instasaw vs swf. I typically don't use add ons with Billy since they are all pretty meh.

As far as playing against it. The first down is often free since you aren't expecting it. After that you can dodge it the same as regular billy pretty much. If you play Billy abit you'll learn his saw timings.

I'd rather see huntress insta down hatchets removed. I main Huntress but refuse to use them.

And I use them every time one pops up in my bloodweb. Why? Because there's a distinct satisfaction in seeing a teabagging tryhard go down because they farted around thinking they could take one hit and run away.

You know what's really not cool? People suggesting major changes to a game because this or that doesn't fit their particular play style. If you don't like an addon, don't use it. If it gets used against you, either suck it up or leave the game. It's not exactly like there's a wave of mean ol' huntresses using insta down hatchets 24/7 and tunneling you specifically. Let it go.

  • @SenzuDuck said:

Decisive strikes and insta heals are also unfair and unfun to play against.

Why is it when there's a discussion it always has to be "but this thing is also annoying (from the other side)".
This isn't a discussion about DS & Instas, it's a discussion about Billy Addons.

Because the user is making a point that flew completely over your head. Both sides have addons and/or perks that are annoying to play against. This in and of itself does not justify a nerf just because of a few whiney children who think the game should adapt to their needs.

  • @Master said:

Teleporting 5m to hook is fairly balanced also it ignores survivor collusion

Yes, but survivors want to keep their easy bodyblocks that they can perform without skill or map knowledge.
    It is what it is

    This x1000.

Apparently it's 100% A-OK to body block the hook x3 man at the end of the match, but standing on the stairs to nail a survivor trying to escape the basement is BODY BLOCKING! BANNABLE! REPORTING!?!?!.

The cognitive dissonance with survivors grows stronger with each passing day. The volume of twitch survivor mains who endorse this behavior compared to the complete lack of twitch killer mains gives the uneducated derelict newbie the impression that this is par for the course.

    exact time failed: 11:52AM UTC
exact time try again: several times immediately thereafter

I play on PC. This happens to me on killer about 2-3 times per day. I join a match, and within 30 seconds, I see 4 disconnected survivors and the post game tally begins. Upon leaving and trying to create a new lobby, I get failed to join game. I am unable to click back to go back to the main menu or switch to survivor mode or visit the store. I CAN bring up the settings page, but that's about it. The only way I've found to get out of this scenario is to end task.

Edit: I tried to create a lobby again after posting this, and it worked WITHOUT using end task. Estimated time between failure and success was 2-3 minutes.

  • And on the topic of nerfing the Nurse, cause she's just so darn good at countering the one thing survivors know best, looping. Do explain what nerfs she needs.

Don't you know? Anything that takes away the happy fun times for a toxic survivor needs to be nerfed to hell and back. Nerfing killers is the real survivor meta.

  • @Mycroft said:
SWF should not be ranked. Period, point blank. If you want to rank up, roll solo.

  • @TheBean said:
Since a big portion of killers will opt out of SWF, thus killing their own game.

This line of thought is self-defeating. People are already quitting. The average player count has been in decline. Survivor queues are getting longer as it is, not even accounting for lobby dodging killers.

Fine, killing SWF will kill the game. Not killing it will as well. It'll just take slightly longer.

  • @TheBean said:

I like how people think they've come up with this amazing idea....

But has been suggested about a week after SWF was put in the game... over 2 years ago.

If they didn't do it then... You won't see it anytime soon.

There's always room to reconsider. Silence never brings change.

  • It will make a big problem with match making system, the queue will be extremely too long for the killer and solo-survivors to wait until the lobby will be full.

This argument keeps being made over and over, and it's bollocks. When was the last time you tried getting a game going as a rank 1 killer? Nobody wants to discuss lobby wait time issues there. Wonder why?

If the queue time is too long for your SWF group, break it up or play another game. It's not legitimate argument to maintain a well documented imbalance simply because bringing balance to the game might be an inconvenience for people who desire only a specific mode of play which has an inherent imbalance.

    Also, I found this thread:
    https://steamcommunity.com/app/381210/discussions/0/340412122417546673/

That's from 2016. When the game was new'ish. And yet the same killer disadvantages existed then that existed now. 2 years is a long time for an online game to be so critically ######### up and not go under. Behavior and it's sponsors should consider themselves EXTREMELY lucky this game still limps along at all.

  • People like OP who have no friends don't get what "friend" means. Friends like to hang out together,

SWF in the context of a ranked match has absolutely zero to do with playing with friends and absolutely everything to do with the unfair advantage. You know it. I know it. Everybody else knows it. You can play dumb all day long but at the end of the day it doesn't change the facts.

And attempting to play the "You must not understand because you have no friends" card, seriously? Sometimes I swear the average age of the DBD player base must not exceed 15 or so.
