He's also fun to play against, except for his tiny/weird terrorradius. I really enjoy the design and sound design of this killer a lot.
-
Yep, it's very weird. I only notice him when I actually see him right next to me.. and even then it sounds like he's far away 🙄

As for horrible maps to play as survivor, Sheltered Woods is a complete toss up.
If you get low pallet RNG, you'll get completely stomped on vs. a half-way competent Billy or Spirit.
If Sheltered Woods was any smaller of a map, you can bet that the survival rate % on it would be MUCH lower than it currently is right now.
I agree. Too many open spaces with nothing to work with as a survivor.

Their idea of balance is now two high ranking will get out while the two low ranks will die. We all know this is not the case. Either all will die or most of the time all will get out. Rarely do i see true 2 and 2. I see more 3 than 1's.
Mind you i just had two 0k's in a row. Both were swf using coms and i got two corn maps in a row and three corn maps in 4 games. Time to shelve thsi game in favor of wow for another week or two.
I can only take this game in small doses cos of the horse manure.
Fun thing is, usually me and my friend who is around the same rank die and the others get out, because unlike them, we do gens and therefore get found by the killer more often than the other survivors, yet not getting rescued by the others as often. Most common scenario is that we all die tho, because 1-2 persons sweating out 3-4 gens while the others are literally doing nothing doesn't cut it in the end.
I understand your frustration too, I'd go nuts if I had more than 2 corn-games in a row as a killer.

Unbreakable and Tenacity is my favorite underrated combo. Doesn't always work of course, but when it does it's hilarious and can even be a Deus Ex Machina at the right moment.

Match Make Rating.
Basically, you have a score, which is determined by how good or how well you do in game. You'll be matched with other people within that score.
This works for something like Chess, but not for a game with as many variables as DBD in my opinion. For example, does a Huntress who's using iridescent hatchets weighted the same as an add-onless Huntress, or a Clown? What about a Huntress who gets Wreckers Yard, a very good map for her, in comparison to getting something like Underground Complex -- a very, very bad map for her?
I see no way to make such a skill based system work, in a game where RNG plays a huge part in the game itself.
I see, that sounds like it's going to make things even worse. Why even have ranks then? I think the rank-based matchmaking was... fine. Not perfect by any means, but as close as you can get in a game like this where every game plays differently and the outcomes are not entirely skill-based but also depending on luck, map, opponents, perks etc, as you said.
And to be honest, I don't really trust BHVR for pulling the "MMR" thing off in a consistent, logical way. It's almost impossible to do so, I think.
But then again, I'll take anything over getting teamed up with rank 20's every other game, at this point...
(btw I'm guessing you're playing Claudette, I love your cosmetics!)
-
Now that you're mentioning it, I remember we had visible ranks for some time and it was very nice! I don't understand why they didn't keep it.
And yes, that's exactly how the games look like. It's ridiculous. What are the random rank 20's supposed to do in that environment? What are the "better" players supposed to be working with? It's an unhealthy and bad experience for everyone.
Btw, what does "MMR System" mean?

Hey @pemberley , how are you feeling?

Hey, everyone. Thanks for replying. I followed @Gay Myers (Luzi) advice, and unfortunately the worst happened and I tried to talk to her gently about it, and she just blew up at me and attacked me and told me to f off and I was a bad friend because she had problems too. I am really hurt right now tbh, there was so much deep seeded animosity. I can’t believe a friendship that’s been going on for 5 years is just...gone now. I feel devastated.
That's so sad.
I find a lot of my young self in your words and I feel so sorry you have to go through this. Remember that it's not your fault. You're a good friend and a kind person and you deserve a friend who appreciates that. Sadly, she's not one of them. Maybe she has trouble she didn't talk about, but that doesn't give her any right to treat you the way she did. You're not to be blamed for wanting to know where your relationship stands. Uncertainity is a horrible feeling, especially when it's with your best friend. If she doesn't try to understand your feelings and doesn't want to talk it out, it can't be helped. Cut her off and start healing. I'm not saying she's a horrible person, I don't know her and it's not my place. Still, this is also about you and your feelings, which she doesn't seem to respect, and that's a big red flag. She acted abusive to you and that shouldn't be excused if she doesn't even admit and adress it properly.
It's probably hard to see for you right now, but in a way, she helped you grow. By experiencing this awful thing, you'll know it when you see it again. I know it's hard, it hurts, but eventually, you'll start feeling better because you don't have to worry about her sincerity anymore. I wish you all the best.

Not really. Fatness used to be considered much more attractive, mostly because it meant you could actually afford to eat in excess.
In more modern times food isn't really a limited factor for the developed world, and eating unhealthily is cheaper, easier, and often the lazier way of living.
It's not dumb for a person to associate not being fat with healthiness, and taking care of yourself which to most people translates to a level of attractiveness outside of just appearance.
I know how it was meant and I still stand by my statement. Being fat is simply not always unhealthy, nor does being thin make you healthy, generally speaking (for some people, more body mass is healthier than the ideolized thinness). Some people also have conditions that make it hard or impossible to healthily lose weight beyond a certain point. That does not make them "unhealthy eaters". People really need to get that into their heads and stop spreading harmful nonsense that boils down every health issue to "just lose weight" and promotes an unhealthy level of dieting just to fit the surface standarts of beauty and supposed health.

Sorry not to get too off topic but generally speaking being fat, just like any other aspect that shows you don’t care about your appearance sorta decreases your attractiveness
This is the dumbest sentence I ever read on this forum, and that's saying a lot.

Yes, you can still create a group to exchange messages with other people.

I have 17 vials and this is the first event I'm not grinding for them at all. With everyone going for archive challenges and all the bugs and matchmaking problems it's difficult to play the game normally, so I sorta gave up.

Despite the obvious problems with the usual suspects like haddonfield and the cornfields, I'd mostly love to see the Red forest being reworked to something more unique and interesting. There's not enough going on, it's really bland and there are way too many deadzones / too many Open spaced with absolutely zero interactions with the environment.

You do get 1000 extra even if you don’t use the offering, but 3000 if you do plus extra gens are special. If all 4 survivors and the killer use the pestuls and your team does all 5 special gens you’re looking at 15k bonus... that’s a lot of IFS... I would rather just use a green offering for 100% extra altruism and get the 8k within my own control
Ohh ok I didn't realize the 1000 Bonus points without an offering, Thanks. Still.. There's not enough offerings in the Web considering that if you burn an offering, there's a chance you don't get a special gen finished at all, making it more costly to get to the next offering in the web than just ignoring it alltogether.
-
There's not enough petal offerings in the bloodweb, and you still don't get bonus points for completing a pumpkin gen or using an event hook without that offering. Not exciting.
-
Meg. Except the latest one, her outfits and hairstyles are god awful.
And I can't believe Ace has so many votes? His cosmetics are among the best.
-
I know, still it implies that you have to turn it on to have a "valid experience" and if you don't, you're left out.
-
No. I don't want to talk or listen to random people and I'd hate if this was required to play the game properly. I only play SWF & coms with people I know are chill and friendly.

Best:
1. The casual Pvp apsect. I've never been a Fan of pvp games because it's always extremely competitive and stressful. In dbd, you can enjoy playing with and against other people without feeling like you need to have godlike reflexes and whatnot. I've also met some great people, which is rare enough since I usually don't socialize. Dbd is the one game where I actually enjoy the pvp aspect. It wouldn't be nearly as fun playing with / against an AI.
2. The killer Designs are pretty great for the most part.
3. The perk system / the variety of perks
Worst:
1. The hit registration / how the hitbox works
2. The horrendous ammount of bugs and that bugs very rarely get adressed (and if they get fixed, something else is broken in return). It sometimes makes the game nearly unplayable.
3. The grind / the levelling system

60 seconds of immunity that you can just jump in front of a Killer or in a locker or something isn't anti-tunneling. It's like people using BT to body block (which I have seen). Abusing a Perk cause you can. Why should I have to count a full minute for every survivor for a meta perk that likely they will all use? I think it should deactivate when someone else is hooked. There, you haven't been tunneled then.
"abusing the perk" ™️
Dude for real, using any perk in a slightly more daring way or in a way you don't condone is not abuse.
Also, ds is not even meant to be an anti tunneling perk and nothing else. It's just useful against tunnelers, that doesn't mean it should ONLY work when tunneled.
That's like saying noed is an anti genrush perk - yet it still activates when survs didn't rush gens, so it should be disabled after 10 minutes because there's clearly no genrush going on. Sounds ridiculous? That's the logic you're defending. Please go outside.
-
I've only played about 15 SWF games since the changes because it's become so insufferable.
During that time I very frequently had:
Matchmaking errors
Connection errors at random moments when waiting for a host so you have to hope the lobby still works or better restart it
Network disconnects
Party joining in a killer lobby without 1 person
The full squad having to close and restart the game because the lobby froze after an error (happened way too often)
On top of all that, uninterrupted waiting times for a game was around 10 - 20 minutes. So you got a random error? Nice, now you're back to square one.
Generally, around 60% to 70% of the time was spent in the lobby. It's barely worth it. When I say lobbysimulator, it may sound cheeky but inside I'm crying.

For me, Ruin is Great Skill check training for survivors. This causes faster gens without Ruin and in turn increases the need for Ruin.
Kind of, yeah. For me, it's also the fact that I encounter ruin almost every game. If there's a game without it, I'll be rushing (not that hard tho, when the killer has trouble I take my time doing totems or loot chests) because it's just so refreshing to not have it, ya know?
-
So the real scares never come from any form of media for me (though amnesia was very close to giving me a meltdown). When I am serioulsy scared and the tension does not resolve quickly, I'll get nervous and restless. When I get serioulsy shocked (as evidenced by my reaction to being suddenly grabbed by my husband during a horror movie, maliciously in sync with a shock effect) I'll start crying uncontrollably for maybe 20 minutes.

Steve is a great choice. I just wish we would have gotten Joyce or Hopper, or even Robin instead of Nancy (She's so boring past season 1 😪).
Edit: also #########, Jonathan is a creep, and Steve DOES care a lot. It seems to me that you didn't really watch the show tbh.
-
Oh good, I was worried for a second we'd be able to actually have good non-meta perks. Now alert will be kinda useless again. I came to like the perk after it's rework but I don't think I'll choose it over a more reliable meta perk after this change. Rip.
-
I really want to like Autodidact but it makes me feel so bad when I use it. I'm saying sorry in my head alot because the penalty hurts so much, and I drag others down with me. Once the tokens are up, it's a great perk, but the match is most likely over @ that point. It's too rng dependant.
Alert is actually a good perk tho. I run it as a core perk lately and it helps making smart decisions a lot. Not only can you see which direction the killer is heading after breaking stuff, which is very useful, but you can also see where gens are being kicked and regressed or which pallets are being used. It's an amazing perk for reading survivors and killers alike, for being one step ahead or increasing efficiency.
But I agree, too many survivor perks are just not worth replacing the good ones.
-
While I like his design and pallet stun sound, I kinda really don't like his mechanics. He's way smaller and harder to spot than Myers and I have serious trouble finding him when he's near, let alone when in stealth mode. The expose thing is also weird, and if you manage to counter it, he'll have your ass exposed 2 secs later anyway. For me, he's still confusing and annoying to verse, tbh.
-
As survivor: Old Legion was very opressive. Your only hope when in a chase, was them being fresh out of frenzy or another survivor catching their attention. Facing him was extremely stressful and often impossible to counter.
New Legion is just sad. The borrowed time effect now is not at all threatening and is essentially just there to waste time. When in frenzy, they can never down you. Outside of frenzy, they got nothing special.
A healthy and fun Legion should be found somewhere between these two extremes.
I'm no fan of aura reading basekit abilities, since a buff to Legion could very easily go into opressive territory again.

I'm biased because I'm a Claudette main, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I personally believe that Claudette's have an excessively bad reputation. I certainly get it; there are plenty of Claudette's who are either too self-centered and only care about protecting their purple flashlight or getting an easy hatch escape. There are also Claudettes who will spend 32 seconds in the corner of the map healing themselves multiple times per match, and contribute nothing towards generator repairs or any other team objective.
At the same time, I also believe that some Claudette's are extremely valuable team players, who are capable of wasting the killers time via looping and immersion. There are also some Claudette's that are essentially the medic of the team when they bring med kits and botany knowledge.
I do understand your frustration with the character though. I'm trying to catch up on bloodwebs on my other characters SPECIFICALLY because a large portion of the community seems to feel the same as you, both survivors and killers alike.
That is what I have observed. I've seen lots of useless or rude Claudettes, but also lots of valuable teamplayers who know what they are doing.

I played survivor. I play both killer and survivor 50-50.
I'm very good at stealthing, despite wearing the glittering white dress cosmetic for Claudette. And when sounds were changed, I still wasn't caught, because I know how to not only stay out of direct line of sight, but to keep quiet as well.
Sounds weren't broken for everyone. It was broken for people with specific audio set ups. The fix for that is not to revert it so killers suffer again, but to fix the broken audio.
I agree, the sound needs to be fair and feel right for both sides. But as far as I know, it's woven into the code so weirdly that it often tends to get broken after updates... I hope that the devs can figure out a way to get it right soon.
I wouldn't want an option to turn the chase music off altogether though. It would give a huge advantage and I'd rather keep it fair for everyone. That does not mean I support the obnoxiously loud music for killers though.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
It was nice before. And then survivors complained that killers were finding them through the noise they were making (what a crazy concept -- you make loud noise, you get spotted). So it got reverted back.
So nope, we get to be blasted by loud music again.
You probably didn't play survivor then, because the sound for survivors Was absolutely broken. The chase music was so quiet I couldn't hear it at all if I didn't want my ears to explode from the other sounds (gens etc). So I Had a hard time knowing when a chase begann, when it ended, if the killer was near or not. The TR was almost nonexistent.
It didn't change because the survivors cried about being found, but because the sound was actually completely broken for them.

Personally, I was hoping that when they reworked the Badham maps and added 5 different variations, they'd at least add a variation which had the clowns caravan setup in it since his lore has him setting up camp in everyone else's realms. Would've been creepy too, having his caravan setup near a pre-school. Sigh, another missed opportunity.
That would have been awesome...

Broken key is broken even without addons which makes it the most broken thing in the entire game. One has to run Unbreakable not to break the game even more while using this item.
That's why I always loot chests in fear. Great risk, great reward.
