Can we please at least try the perks in live before we complain about them being "broken"?

It's become significantly clunkier, but I can see opportunities for this.
Pair this perk with, for example, Inner Strength or a boon. Hit your five skillchecks, refill your toolbox, and while the penalty is active, go deal with a totem to maintain efficiency.
It's still a good distance from joining Autodidact, No Mither and Potential Energy in the 'what is this killer perk doing in the survivor section?' category.
Sleeping on autodidact and I’ll die on that hill.

So like I said, the gameplay loop isn't a static thing you can plan around, which includes skill check counts and the gen regression that might be in play from game to game. It's very rare that you're working on a straight up 90 second gen from start to finish without any interruptions or alterations to the repair time. Planning around skill check RNG to avoid a massive debuff is not good design.
Exactly this. It has nothing to do with “having a brain” and way more to do with the fact that this perk doesn’t coincide with how the game is typically played.

It's 5 greats. If you wait to use a toolbox til the gen is almost done and then start building on the next gen. There's a good chance due to the rng nature of skillchecks that you don't even get back your toolbox til the 2nd gen is almost done or not at all. If you try to play around the penalty, you are more likely to not get much value from recharging the toolbox in the first place. Which is fine, but I don't see why you bring a perk in the first place.
BTL gives you a single use 99% recharge of a toolbox and ends up earning you a small time boost for the sitting in locker cost. BTL is likely going to be seen far more than scavenger, because the reason you would bring a perk to recharge a toolbox is to shave more seconds off of gen work. Not to go equal.
Exactly this. There are better perks that require way less work for a better reward.
-
@GannTM said:
If I’m reading it correctly, your repair speed is reduced for 30 seconds whether you’re on a gen during those 30 seconds or not. So it doesn’t seem so bad as it seemed but still not the nerf I would’ve given the perk.
It’s a gen perk that discourages you from doing gens and requires you to hit 5 greats, which requires you to do gens….

Nonsense. That'd be reasonable. If you cannot tolerate my mains awful gameplay loop for the other side for the tenth time today, you should uninstall.
No point arguing when they've doubled down on this. This should have been a red flag to me from the start. That and just the sheer amount of assumptions made based of stretches. I tried to be civil, albeit a little cheeky I will fully admit, without attacking the person. But I ended up grouped with the Ada and called a gaslighter (??? that's a crazy accusation, especially if people know what it actually means. Luckily, I'm convinced they do not)
Gaslighting and narcissism are two terms that people love to use without actually understanding what they mean.

You clearly haven't gotten my point since one of the first things I said was, "I do not think people should be forced to keep playing a game they find unfun". Nor at any point in my post do I state, or imply, that I think people are selfish simply because they don't enjoy going against Knight.
My point was, in no uncertain terms: People who give up or DC at the start of games are entitled because they ruin the game for everyone. And this behaviour should not be accepted.
How many times do I have to recite the same point in this thread? It does not matter how you feel. When you boot up DbD you are doing so with the intention of playing with other people. And so a certain level of accountability should be expected from each player. Like not intentionally sabotaging the game for everyone else just because you don't like the killer you're versing.
If you think that's too much to ask then either you're extremely cynical, or are defending what you think is acceptable behaviour.
Call me cynical then because expecting accountability from video game players is rather optimistic.

Chill, I just made a joke about how people get super worked up whenever someone says "tunneling gens", like you just did.
But out of curiosity, how do you feel about Killers who focus on the one objective they have?
I’ve stated multiple times that I have no problem with people who camp or tunnel, same with survivors who genrush. If you wanna win, go ahead, but that’s not how I enjoy playing. It’s a game design fault on both sides, and they’re both highly unenjoyable to play against.
It just makes zero sense to me how people are actually appalled that people who play an online game want to win.

I tried to main Bubba years ago. His kit hasn´t changed since then. Chainsaw can be prevented easier than Billys, he has no curve and his power only excells in hitting several survivors at the same time. Which is why decent players don´t stick together against him.
He´s not a good killer. His kill rate is slightly higher than the Trappers, who has the lowest kill rate. He´s a noob stomper, but that could be said about most killers.
Was this before or after they buffed him with additional sweeps? I’d be careful judging killers off of kill rates as well, we all know how Pig continually gets nerfed simply because her kill rate is insane. Sadako is also top 3 in kill rate and we all know he weak she is.
I’m not saying Bubbas amazing but he’s for sure in the top half of killers.
-
@Tsulan said:
Bubba doesn´t have a overwhelming high kill rate as of now (or like forever). So with his only power (defending a hook) gone... yeah, pretty much.
But then again, some people might still suicide against him, since old habits die hard. So who knows.
Saying Bubba’s only power is camping is quite the reach. He’s a good killer without camping and even better when adding perks such as Bamboozle.

Unsportsmanlike conduct, griefing their team, exploiting a loophole to avoid a DC penalty?
Once the Bot Survivors are introduced for DC’s, this type of behavior likely will become bannable with enough reports.
Play normally, then “get distracted at the possibility of a self-unhook”. Then you’re at least utilizing the tools the game offers you, instead of just pouting and choosing not to engage when you had said you were ready to play the game.
It has been repeatedly said that what the Ada did was not a bannable offense. Also, calling not playing exploiting a loophole is pretty comical.
And why would it become a bannable offense when bots are introduced? What's the logic behind that?
Edit: Just saw your other comment. While that definitely could become a problem, I highly doubt that that will be players intentions. People would rather just not wait out the DC penalty, not actively think "I'm gonna turn this into a 3v1 for teammates instead of adding the bot". You'd have to change a lot of aspects of this game to address that issue, and in turn it would more than likely punish people who just happened to have something IRL come up before a match.

Only focusing on gens while ignoring everything else... having tunnel vision aimed at the gens, so to speak... I just can't think of a snappy term for that...
What else is there to do? Healing and unhooking are the only other things to do and if they choose not to heal, then that simply makes chases easier for you. I don’t understand how people actually expect survivors to not focus on the one objective they have.

You're right, I can't control how others behave. But I can call them out on their selfish, childish, disrespectful behaviour. And judge them for it. And when enough people judge you for how you behave either you stop caring about what others think, or you change.
I'm not hoping for this Ada to read this post, have an epiphany, and vow to never give up again. But letting players like this know that how they act isn't ok is the first step to stopping it. However unlikely stopping people from giving up really is.
While I get your point, calling people selfish for not enjoying playing against a certain killer is a bit hypocritical. I mean, you clearly play Knight for a reason, you enjoy him. Even though you admit the majority doesn’t like playing against him. Does that make you selfish for not caring about the other side having fun? No.
Everyone is inherently self-interested and are going to do things that garner them more enjoyment. Whether that’s you playing Knight or survivors wanting to play any of the other 30 killers on the roster. You can’t change people, and expecting them to do so is asinine.

It’s not even this. They don’t even have basic controller settings such as controller deadzones and bindings that aren’t tied to multiple actions. The majority of the playerbase plays on console I don’t understand why they wouldn’t put more time into increasing the quality of life for those players.
-
I don't see the point you're trying to make here at all? Yes, Pyramid Head counters unhook perks, but is that a bad thing?
Are you upset that there are killers that counter certain playstyles and perks? Do you want every killer to function the same?
Plague counters healing, Nurse counters looping, Blight counters holding W, Legion counters grouping up, etc. etc.
Should the devs have changed core gameplay mechanics for all of these killers or instead give you an option to use these counters?
-
Unless you're playing against 4 super solid survivors (which is very rare) there will almost always be a weak link on the team.
If you're truly playing to win, picking on the weak link is almost always a sure-fire way to victory. Hooking them in a dead zone or any area that isn't too strong and proxy camping will almost always catch the better survivors when they come in for the save. Most people play altruistically and won't want to leave somebody on the hook to die so this is the time you can apply a lot of pressure and easily snowball the rest of the game.
Remember too, killer is weakest at the start of the match. It's totally normal to lose 2-3 gens in the first chase of the game and still be able to come back.

10 seconds to gens really isnt that much, mini pop on kick still regresses four times slower than a survivor just tapping it, tier 1 brutal strength which doesn't really make chases any shorter ( i would argue the lessened sprint burst after a hit actually helps out more), 2 stacks of stbfl only really helps if stbfl is also used in the match.
ds can still be used to get to a safe loop, dead hard still works after an unhook (you are just guaranteed a quick first chase), circle of healing i will agree with
tunneling once again with no hit detection after the unhook would make it easier than a killer either counting to 10 or hitting them with a faster killer to force deep wounds and take away dead hard and tunnel the survivor again
camping once again give the killer a reason to go after other survivors a grim embrace effect or even a thanataphobia slowdown
Funny how people are acting like 10 seconds on a gen isn’t a big deal but are now freaking out because scavenger can save you 10 seconds on a gen…

Playing against nightfall on an actual TV is the equivalent to the old The Game bottom floor a couple years ago. It’s irritatingly dark especially on indoor maps like Midwich. If you don’t have windows or bond it’s kind of wraps. The screaming is super grating too.

This is the sad truth. If you want a killer like Trapper to be viable on large maps then they need to be something stupid like 150% move speed out of chase.

Dont forget that killers actually need to be having fun to continue playing. Most of the changes over the game's lifespan focus on the idea of survivors having fun with little thought for the killer. Things are fine if you play one of the top 5 killers but everything else kinda sucks.
I’m not talking about survivors vs killers. I’m talking about balancing the game around the average player and not someone with 5k+ hours.

Oh yes I do understand, I am not asking you to do it (if that is ever possible). But in case you go against a killer who manage to do that successfully, please record this.
When we want to balance the game I think it’s important to have real practice and experience and not only talk about what could be done in theory. For exemple, when Hyperfocus was release I remember Otz was trying to show to his audience how OP this perk was and ended up blowing generators and wasting time more than anything else. This showed that in theory the perk was broken but in practice : even good players could get negative value.
I have the same problem with "3gen from the start", some people say that in theory it is impossible to beat but I have never seen anyone do that in my lobbies that’s why I am asking for record to see if that can be actually be done and if yes if like some people say there is no counter at all.
And yes, I am investigating this because BHVR said they want to fix this strat, almost if that is an exploit.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2kigkdZQO8A
Here you have SupaAlf, trying to lock a 3gens early on with good game sense and securing kills by camping. Is he using exploits ?
BHVR wants to fix this strat because it’s extremely unenjoyable to play against and they’ve stated themselves it’s not an intended strategy.

I am not saying 3gen strat doesn’t exist, but I am wondering if there is no counter like a lot people are claiming.
So you are saying the SM would force one survivor away, but what were the other 3 survivors doing during that time ? Was it an indoor map against a whole team of soloQ ?
How did she managed to regress and compete with the progression the 4 survivors got on gens ? What perks were she using ?
Suffocation pit (so she never had to the top side of the map), I was solo, I’d assume my teammates were as well and she was running Pain Res, DMS, Jolt and another perk. Like I said earlier, a 4 man with good game knowledge that was genuinely trying could have busted it, but solo q is the majority and it is a terrible experience to play someone who plays like someone’s holding a gun to their head. There’s a reason people are playing SM in comp matches.

I don’t even know who you are. Nobody is forcing you to come here and participate on this thread if you don’t want to, especially if you have nothing to say / no argument. Have a nice day :)
No, I don’t record my games. I’m not a content creator, so why would I? We gave up because she had 4 gens within 40-50 meters and refused to leave them. She set drones on every gen and every time someone disabled or tried to do gens through it she would force them away / one shot. Unless you’re a strong 4 man, we had zero chance of getting out of that game. We got one of the 3 gens done on that side of the map but it was wraps from the start. Just because you haven’t played against it doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. Do you really think bunches of people are making this up? BHVR is nerfing this for a reason.
Not to mention she slugged for the 4k for a solid 5 minutes. Fun games.
-
playing certain killers on console can be extremely frustrating as almost all the high skill ceiling killers feel rather jank with the sensitivity. Nurse, Blight, Huntress, Oni, Trickster, Pinhead, Wesker, Pyramid Head, Nemesis, etc.
The introduction of even basic settings like controller deadzones would do wonders for the experience.
I remember a time though when max sensitivity on console was equal to about 50% right now… and that took them 3 years to implement. They don’t seem to care too much about the console experience. Suffice to say I’m not too optimistic.

This makes too much sense. I really believe that the kill rate is higher than what the devs want so they’re trying to help survivors without rolling back specific nerfs.
It 100% has to be this. Even with the nerf to gen kick perks, the nerf to survivor healing made solo q even harder than it used to be. Killer has been in a stronger spot the past year than it ever has been. Unless I’m playing against 4 super solid survivors my kill rate is easily 70+%.

Artistically / graphically the update looks absolutely awesome. Incredible job. But the gameplay of DBD has become so stale that I kinda expected more.
It's still the same game, even with a new killer. Everyone is super hyped by all the great stuff we've been shown in the trailers, but in practice I can than already tell that I won't see most of that in my games. What I'll see every game, is killers tunnel / camp 3-gens just as much as they do now when I play survivor - and when I play killer, survivors hide and genrush like good bots making sure to interact as little with me as possible.
SoloQ is still gonna be miserable so I'll have to play with friends, but none of my friends play anymore, so I likely will only play 2-3 games just to see the new killer and that's it. Assuming I even get matched against the new killer at all. Because in practice the game will more likely give me SM / Knight and I might leave without even noticing there was an update.
A shame that this game has been out so long that people have optimized the fun out of it

The devs said this years ago when killer was in a way weaker spot and the meta wasn’t to camp / tunnel the first survivor out within 3 minutes. Times have changed.

Isnt it so surprising how the devs want the majority of their playerbase to actually enjoy the game? Wild, I know.
-
Wraith absolutely thrives in this meta and destroys solo queue players. I’d argue he’s easily the best stealth killer in the game and when using certain builds and add ons there’s very little chance for counterplay (especially when playing solo).
Most wraiths I play run sloppy, brutal strength, bamboozle and a gen regress perk with his shadow dance add on so he can break pallets in half a second. During mid to late game he can make over half the map a dead zone because bamboozle just requires you to throw pallets against him.
I wouldn’t say he’s S tier, I think that’s reserved for Nurse, Blight and Spirit but depending on the map he can 100% be high A tier.

I much prefer “hold W” and eventually be able to hit/down a survivor than “I will never catch you because you have three broken tiles strung together creating a virtual infinite loop”
Totally get that. There are definitely still maps like Cowshed and Suffocation Pit where you can get some nasty rng spawns for window chains, but in my experience those are more rare than common. I run Windows of Opportunity every game and the amount of times I’ll see entire areas where theres nothing but a set of windows to run to is rather common.

Agree with this. Until broken maps and loops get addressed, Bamboozle is a required perk for certain killers who would otherwise have an incredibly difficult time hitting survivors on maps that have strong tiles strung closely together
Understandable but I was under the impression most people strongly disliked hold W gameplay and this perk promotes it more than any other in the game imo

Bamboozle is a band-aid on a terrible map design. On some maps even bamboozle doesn't allow to counter some braindead RNG, window in front of window nearby window. Yeah I don’t understand where he got that from at all. I literally mentioned in my post that it depends on map rng. There are seeds that spawn where the only thing you have is a TL wall for 40+ meters and if they bamboozle it you just die

10-16m is not facecamping. 10-16m also does not prevent someone from getting an unhook. Therefore, there is no problem.
No… it is a problem lmao. It’s boring as hell and doesn’t let people play the game. That is inherently a problem. It sounds to me like you just want easy wins tbh.

It's not. Which is why the range can be reduced to 10m. Only 10m and closer allows preventing the unhook, which is what BHVR doesn't want. At any farther distance, the unhooked survivor will go down but still get the rescue off.
So you just want face camping back? I don’t understand your point at all. It’s unhealthy for the game. DbD is meant to be a party game, there shouldn’t be an option to just not allow someone to play the game.

Survivors, my dear. Give them an opportunity to and they will rush the hook the moment their fellow mate is hooked without a care in the world and accuse you of camping.
Which this fix is going to address?? Did you not watch or see the livestream highlights? If survivors are rushing the hook, the timer doesn’t pause for nearly as long. Do you enjoy staring at a survivor for a minute straight after you hooked them?
