How is the killer to know you won't struggle? Telepathy is a rather under developed trait yet somehow we frequently expect others to possess and apply it.
I've gotten out in that scenario and I've lost a last kill in that scenario too, so while improbable its not impossible. Play till the bitter end is my moto.
Is the 4k really worth wasting 4 minutes of your and other peoples time? If it’s for a challenge I get it, but if not than just move on.

Tunneling is at one of its all time highs and DS is still barely used, if that doesn’t tell you how bad it is then I don’t know what else to say.

If you are tired of getting slugged or camped at 5 gens by the killer, then just play killer without doing those things.
Play killer the way you would hope others would play killer, when you are a survivor.
Make the difference.
- That’s not how it works, “be the difference you want to see” does not work in a game with thousands and thousands of players. I play for hooks as killer, doesn’t mean that over half my games as survivor doesn’t have hardcore camping, tunneling, or slugging.
- Why should he have to stop playing the role he enjoys just because some people have ego problems and can’t lose their precious 4k
- Survivor and killer may as well be different games. They require entirely different skill sets and some people want to just sit back and play the game in the role they want to. Survivor is a much more relaxed experience compared to killer, a lot of people enjoy that.

The killer has no way to know if you won't wiggle in these situations. Safe bet is to just slug unless the slug survivor crawls themselves to a hook.
It sucks, but you can't really blame the killer in situations where getting a survivor to a hook seems unlikely. At least this is a problem the devs are looking at trying to solve with the basekit mori.
The hatch is closed and the gate is at one bar, there’s a zero percent chance the dude escapes. People need to ego check themselves and realize that wasting 4 minutes of your and other peoples time is not worth that 4k that means so much to them.

May i suggest you play killer instead? No slugging or camping at 5 gens (unless you want to).
What is this even supposed to mean?

I see a Deathslinger now and then, yesterday I had two back-to-back. Maybe not the most common but fare from rare.
They tend to be tunnellers, and I don't throw that term around willy nilly.
The deathslingers I play against love shooting the person off the hook and waiting 10 seconds to miss borrowed time. Honestly feels like an exploit.
Just pause the BT timer when you get shot and people wouldn’t tunnel nearly as much with him.

I think the OP is asking why bring a map offering if it's already boosted. Not, why do they use map offerings. I guess it's still not guaranteed with the boost so they want to make sure or maybe it's players not even aware of event.
Yeah, even with the map boosts I've still only seen these three maps just very slightly more than I normally would. The map boosts aren't the most noticeable thing. Although, I have been seeing more map offerings this week as well just in general.

Ironically I find that ‘weaker’ killers camp less than the stronger ones. And the ‘Wesker’ killers do fine in my matches.
Agreed. Good huntresses are the most likely people to face camp and tunnel in my games. Weaker killers in my experience usually only camp when the gates are powered which is justified.

Probably because of controller gamers, but they should at the very least add more options. But we all know by now that BHVR is allergic to adding in-game options overall. God forbid you get to assign the keys to every different interaction yourself.
Playing Pinhead on console is a miserable experience. You get hit by his chains and want to get them off? Jump in that locker next to you. Throw down that pallet you didn't want to, and even better, throw down that pallet you didn't want to then slow vault over it into his loving arms.
You would think that since console players are their biggest playerbase they would put more options and care into it, but it seems over and over again that they don't care for the console experience.

Because otherwise there are no mindgames. I don't need to see you to know which direction did u go if I can hear you clearly - and I am sure of it, because to a lower precision I can already do that on spirit (and she has weaker noise when using ability). There are so many noises (from pro-killer's perspective: vault sound, drop to ground sound, drop pallet sound, footsteps, grass, breath, injury to name a few I remembered on top of my head, there's even longer list for survivor favoring sounds).
So overall if the game is too loud, then just lower the volume. Sounds were designed with loud chase noises in mind.
Eh, the spirit example isn’t a great one since chase music stops when you use your power specifically so you can hear them.

It being a big win is debatable. To me it feels weird and doesn't really make sense within the game. Yes it'll bring extra exposure but that won't necessarily translate into a financial win for BHVR nor a positive for the playerbase.
Having now watched the trailer I'm even less convinced this is a win then I already was.
Why do you think that extra exposure will not translate into financial success? That’s basic business strategy. It’s the most exposure DbD has gotten on social media since RE, that’s already a win in itself.

its not a hill I am dying on at all.
just my personal opinion. I do not care for the actual person behind their art, be it musicians/actors/whatever. I am not hating on them either. Just not my cup of tea. Weird of you for calling it out like this
You said you hated it and that he’s privileged for being able to get in the game. You may not have tried to come off like it but your wording makes it seem like your hating pretty hard for something that’s a big win for the game.
-
@Mooks said:
Still hate the fact that a famous actor has this ‚privilege‘ to just go ‚someone important in my family likes it so I get to be in it‘ (even though it was stated no real people as characters in-game). But well, from a business point of view, it’s understandable I guess. Brings in a crowd and money or course.
i would have loved him just as a character from an actual horror movie.
might be the first content I do not purchase and end my 100% achievement hunt finally
I'm not gonna lie this is such a weird stance and hill to die on. This is by far the coolest thing DbD has done for a hot minute and it's cool as hell that Nic Cage said he wanted to be in the game because his son is a fan. DbD needs more cool stuff like this, not less. Calling him privileged for being a world famous actor and being able to use his likeness is weird behavior.

It’s only solo queue that really suffers against Pinhead. And because it comes down to a lack of coordination, the answer to that problem is to SWF. That’ll help & it seems to be what BHVR wants anyway, as they’re consistently harming solo queue.
I like Dredge’s Nightfall. It’s basically them repurposing that old fog offering that made the maps really dark. Dredge is a rare killer so you probably aren’t dealing with it too often, or at all since you’ve stopped playing survivor, no?
Yeah but the majority of the playerbase solo queues.
Personally Pinhead is my second least favorite killer to go against due to how many people don't understand how his power works and decide to run with the box instead of just straight away solving it or waiting until he picks up. Chain hunt is the most derailing and annoying power to go against in the game IMO.

Sometimes I feel like I'm one of the very few who actually enjoy this game.
So many complaints about basic elements of the game makes me wonder why most people even bother playing a game they detest so much.
I have my least favourite maps, I would never refuse to play on any of them.
Eh, I’ve played since there were only two indoor maps in the game (Lereys and The Game) and that was when The Game was an awful map and you couldn’t see two feet in front of you in the bottom floor, so I still have PTSD every time I play it.
I literally enjoy every other map in the game besides the indoor maps, it’s literally like 90+% of the maps. Should someone quit a game that they enjoy 90% of the time? People are allowed to have criticisms against the things they enjoy, it doesn’t mean they inherently dislike the thing.

Billy is probably the rarest killer for me to see.

i don’t run bbq at all and do it all the time
tbh, I didn’t even know it was such a big deal to do this instead of solely relying on aura reads?
let’s be real though, it is an excuse. If you want to camp then just do it. Don’t blame a survivor for running a perk. Otherwise don’t be shocked if you get blamed for trying to find excuses for camping and only use BBQ for this very reason.
I only run aura perks on 90% of killers I play. Usually a combo of Lethal, BBQ, Floods, and something like Nowhere to Hide or I’m all ears. I’m not looking for excuses to camp lol, I’m looking for the exact opposite. I play for 2 hooks on every survivor before I kill them, it’s the way I enjoy to play and play against. If I don’t see people on auras I’m not gonna waste my time and twiddle my thumbs looking around corners, I’m going back to hook where I know I can find somebody else. I don’t get why this is some sort of controversial / “you’re just looking for excuses to camp” thing. I’m not blaming people for running distortion, I’m simply stating that if I don’t see your aura, I’m not wasting my time trecking across the map.

I mean I guess, it makes no difference anyways. Most killers will not go across the map if they don’t have the info to justify it. Call it an excuse but if there’s no reason to leave the immediate proximity of the hook, why would you?

You can argue that until your face turns blue but I have never once said damn I would have won if I was on PC with any killer except Trickster. You can play every other killer at a high enough level to win majority of games. Remember.....Most survivors are booty juicy.
My point still stands though. Yes, you can become good enough with them, but you will never reach the potential a PC Blight or Oni can reach; you simply can’t flick hard enough to catch survivors that hard turn you last second. It’s not a skill issue, it’s a literal lack of DPI.

Over 4000 hours on Xbox controller and can without a shadow of doubt you are 100% right. Trickster is the ONLY killer I will not recommend on controller. He can be played just will be the most frustrating and unsatisfying experience in DBD. Saddest part? I can still get a 50% win rate with him since most survivors are butt juice.
I’d argue that you can never perform how you’d like with Blight and Oni as well. Even at 100% sens, you simply can’t perform the hard flicks that keyboard and mouse players can pull off.

Well, what can I say?
They do have the option to use it too, right?
And the fact that I use distortion has nothing to do with being hidden from the killer, instead, I use it to know whether or when he will see auras, and if I can help my teammates that don't know about it, I'll help.
I don't get the "selfish" part of Distortion, if you think you're being screwed by it, then use it instead of those exhaustion perks you guys can't escape without using.
I mean, I may as well think Sprint burst screws me over each time the killer sees me in a generator with a mate, he zones out with the fastest run he can and I get to get pursued by the killer instead because I don't run exhaustion perks.
To each their own.
Not coming at you at all, simply pointing out that distortion can be the reason killers camp / proxy.

So survivors owe it to you to see their auras, and if they don't, "you'll show them"? This is a very strange mentality.
Not at all what I said or meant lol
I use BBQ to give myself an excuse to leave hook entirely, if I don’t see anybody on BBQ, why would I go further than 40 meters away from hook? It’s not a “I’ll show them” it’s simply me playing off the info I’m given and reacting accordingly.
Most games turn into snowball fights when you proxy camp and distortion encourages that.

Just because something is rare, it doesn't invalidate it as an issue. I could say the exact same for pub stomper Blight mains, why complain about them if they are rare lmao?
I get what you’re saying but my point is more so that balance decisions shouldn’t revolve around the top 1% of players. There’s a reason that competitive DbD never took off, the game is not supposed to be played like they did in this video. Even without the gen perks and add ons they brought in these games it would change nothing about the result. People would just find another thing to complain about, it’s a never ending cycle. There’s a streamer that’s currently on a 200+ win streak with Sadako, doesn’t mean she’s strong it’s just that people with 8000+ hours that sweat their ass off are going to win everytime in public lobbies. Goes the same way both sides.

Nope. I win the vast majority of my killer games and under half of my survivor games (exclusively solo q). I would bet a significant amount of money that the kill rates aren't as low as some killer mains seem to think they are. They probably aren't significantly different than they used to be. Some people just got hard carried by being able to infinitely stall gens with the gen kick meta. Naturally the game is harder to people who crutched on perks.
I would wager that kill rates have barely if anything moved from the 60% average they were at the last time they released stats. Sure, the gen kick meta is gone but so is dead hard and circle of healing, not to mention that medkits are heavily nerfed as well. Part of me thinks that kill rates have actually gone up if anything.

The wiggle back and forth is what always gets me due to how aim dressing works. You'll lunge but for some reason aim dressing makes it so you just swipe and come up short of the hit. Super frustrating when it happens as it can absolutely ruin your pressure.

And sorry you feel so bad about distortion, I hope you overcome these harsh feelings someday
Distortion honestly screws over your teammates more than anything. If I’m playing killer and I see somebody on BBQ, I’ll go chase them, but if I see nobody, I’m proxy camping hook. Distortion just booked a one way ticket to snowball city.

So what’s the point in complaining about it? We all know that comp teams will destroy in public matches and when you bring 4 gen perks you do gens fast. There’s nothing shocking about this. You can’t use extreme outliers as an example for something not being balanced.

To each their own but I don’t see how you can enjoy playing against Oni and Billy but not Wesker. Their powers work similarly when at a loop in terms of mind games and flow, they’re all 115% with a high mobility power and not only that but Oni and Billy can one shot you.
Wesker, Billy, Oni and Demo are the most balanced killers in the game IMO and none of them should be changed fundamentally (except Billy, rip double engravings).

Ok? He slugs hella hard and sweats harder than 99% of players. Doesn’t change the fact she’s a bottom three killer in the game and that Wraith is objectively better.
-
What’s with this disconnect between survivors and killers regarding gen speed? Gens are extremely slow and not the problem. It seems like people more so have problems with efficient survivors.
Doing a gen solo takes a whole 90 seconds and killers have the ability to take away 22.5 seconds of that with a single hook and another 6-7 seconds if they’re running jolt. All of this without even having to go out of your way to kick a gen. Gen speed is fine and gen regression perks are still strong.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
There’s been a weird shift in ideology that shorter games are better. There’s also been a consistent narrative that “the chase is the best part” of the game, yet survivors sure do like blitzing gens in as little time as possible. I don’t blame people for being efficient though. It’s on the devs to stop it from happening. Yet the devs seem to be quite happy to normalise 5 minute games so there’s not much hope for that.
Why do you think survivors blitz gens though? It's a response to the fact that majority of killer players will try to kill somebody as quickly as possible and if you are at anything more than 2 gens when this happens, the survivors lose 99 times out of 100. The healing nerfs amplify this effect as it's not even worth it to heal a lot of the time so this only leaves gens left to do.
-
Wraith is such a better killer than Sadako. Giving him the things that make Sadako unique would just bump her even lower.

People don't understand how frustrating perks that are triggered by skill checks can be. I use autodidact all the time but the rng nature of the perk can be severely offputting.

I agree with you that solo queue survivor is a nightmare for the majority of the time, but hating on Wesker and Demo is kinda wild to me. They're so well designed in my opinion and are probably my top 2 favorite killers to play against because of how many opportunities to mind game are on both sides. I can admit though that Weskers hitboxes on his dash are a little clunky sometimes but I believe that's more ping related than bad hitboxes.

BNP is a thing that exists, plus commodius lasts long enough to hit 4 greats. Skillchecks come fast enough while toolboxing that its not hard to do.
This doesn't change the fact that it can't be replenished until the current toolbox you're using is out of charges.
-
@nars said:
Absolutely needed the nerf. Being able to just completely refill your charges for hitting a measly 4 greats (especially since toolboxes give mor skillchecks) was too good considering you didnt have to do anything else to refill it. like the page says, built to last requires finding and hiding in a locker for a good 12 seconds. scavenger just gave you free toolbox.
But yeah this nerf is kinda wack. why not just rework it entirely, its kind of like DH where its core isnt good game design. So your only option is to either rework it or make it unusable, the latter of which is much easier.
You were required to hit the 4 great skill checks when the toolbox was empty to refill it pre nerf, so unless you were running Hyperfocus it is completely rng dependent.

Most players don’t think that. Killer mains on the DBD forum say it.
Exactly. Ask 90% of the playerbase and they’d tell you they’re lucky to make it to endgame. Unless you started playing last year, gens are slow as hell. There’s no time anymore to waste running around and opening chests and doing totems. If you don’t have 1 to 2 people on gens at all time you lose 9 times out of 10.
-
Also, who are these 4 man comp squads that so many people on this forum swear they play every other game? I play about 1 in every 50 matches. The vast majority of SWFs are just buddies playing for fun and messing around, not bringing BNPs and gen perks.
-
I can’t believe people are scrounging to come up with scenarios to nerf this perk even further.
Your example is nothing more than a net time waste and would be laughably inefficient.
Scavenger is dead on arrival and you will never see anyone run this perk.
-
@RoastedGarlic said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3445064#Comment_3445064
A swf can have 1 person bring this perk and everyone can drain their tool boxes and just have 1 player constantly replenish them. The 50% reduction speed helps this out because they will just keep getting more skill checks. Replenish tool box, give to team mate rinse and repeat.
That person doesn't need to worry about their gen progress when they can just keep replenishing over and over until the games won. This perk is both trash and busted at the same time. For solos this perk is worthless. For swf? rip gens.
This would require that one player to hit 15-20 great skill checks during the game? This is highly, highly unlikely rng wise for something that's not even efficient.
