  • Yes. I feel like I don't ask for much, so pretty please BHVR can we just have this? It's really my only real gripe at the moment

  • There was a rock to Ada's right, the outer wall to her left, Feng in front, and you behind. She either runs in the same direction as Feng or she runs into you. You were out of line of sight when approaching the hook, neither probably knew which side you were coming from. Watching the clip, I don't feel like Ada even had time to do or plan anything. She didn't even have time to move after being unhooked before she was hit, and the direction she ran was really the only safe direction she could have gone. I don't care if people want to tunnel, but I think you're looking a bit deep into a situation where the survivors were acting purely on instinct.

  • Someone who turns on their team, basically

  • I think the current 60/40 is fine. I think if kill rates went higher they would have a hard time retaining new survivors, and killer would probably become boring real quick. Games should always be challenging.

I wasn't trying to bait. I'm asking a legit question. I'm a little disappointed that most of this is just the attitude of "cry more" than actually explaining it or helping me understand why people find it fun.

No I don't want a match over in a couple of minutes. I run into plenty of killers that end a game in a matter of seconds from slugs and that's not fun either.

Yes, forcing a 3 gen. There are videos out there of how to do it on killer. I didn't think this was a new concept.

Sometimes a match feels like almost over an hour. In the past 3 days I've had around 30% of my matches be almost an hour (around 55 minutes). You knew what I meant yet still chose the words you did. It's semantics compared to the overall point.

So I'll ask again. Who finds this waste of time fun? This cannot be what people want. Whether it's a 5 minute match or an hour match both are a waste of time, offerings & add-ons.

I've been playing for a couple years and I've had maybe 2 games last up to half an hour. 30% of your matches being almost 55min does not sound normal. What are you guys doing to progress the game? Are you all hiding? 3 gens can definitely extend a game, so maybe be proactive at the beginning of a game and work to try prevent one. There's a general perk called Deja Vu which can help

  • I'm a casual player who doesnt play every day, and when I do play it's usually only for a max of 2 hours. I can get a Rift done by the time it closes

Killer has never been easier to play now and as a result survivors are going to slam gens more productively now ever since 6.1 released.

I really don’t miss old ruin, undying, pop and corrupt. The only slowdown now I find annoying is eruption.

This is the reason imo. Kill rates are up, escape rates are down, so more and more survivors are ignoring totems and chests etc and just pumping the gens. I actually feel guilty when a team mate walks past while I'm cleansing a totem. It feels like I'm doing something dirty and if we lose they'll blame me for wasting time I could have been spending on a gen lol

  • Because he's quite boring to go against is my assumption. I never DC, but from my personal experience going against him, I'm assuming that's why.

  • If you're getting 4 man swfs with full gen rush builds and toolboxes with BNP, then you'll be hard pressed to do much to counter it ultimately. But I doubt you're getting those sorts of teams every round. You might just be underestimating how long the chases are actually taking.

I play solo and the only games I have where we get through the gens in a short period of time, are the games where 3 of us are on our own gens and the killer is unfortunate enough to find a survivor who is good in chase first.

That's all fine and dandy, the issue is more that the main reason why camping and tunneling is ever so effective is due to a massive gap of information. DBD has been balancing killers with SWF in mind, but they haven't been balancing too much with Solo in mind.

I remember a statement about a year and a half ago where they said straight up aura reading between characters(aka bond with infinite range) would be too much info and would be somewhat exploitable. But I've played some matches where I used Bond and Open Handed for maximum range reading while using small maps. It honestly was fine. And I had done it on comms too. All that changed was having to explain my position if people wanted to take a hit(especially if people weren't familiar with a specific map). The only reason I would state against it, is because it would make quite a lot of perks useless(Kindred, Situational Awareness, Empathy, Empathic Connection, Aftercare and No One Left Behind)

Right now, I think the best thing to do is simply make the "patchwork" perks basekit for survivors. Aka, if a SWF can easily call it out, it shouldn't be a perk. So let's look at the full list by placing the perk next to a call out:

    1. Buckle Up - "I'm (roughly) at X%, you can/can't pick me up"

    2. Better Together(or Situational Awareness) - "I'm on the gen near X, come help me/don't lead the killer here"(not including the aura reading ofcourse)

    3. Empathy/Empathic Connection - "Let's meet up and heal near X"

    4. Bond(sort off), I just wish there was a survivor instinct button. So you could press it and you get a survivor heartbeat on where they roughly are. You can even add a killer heartbeat if they are within 16 meter of a hooked survivor. Giving effectively kindred to survivors, without giving away auras

Yes, it was during the 2021 anniversary stream they spoke about an info update for solo and then it went on the back burner for some reason. I'm assuming because they wanted to prioritise increasing kill rates, and they needed solo to remain as is for that. I thankfully don't get too many tunnelling or camping killers in my games. Whether it's my region or MMR I'm not sure, but I started keeping track of my games and I average about 3 tunnelling killers in every 40 games.

  • I don't suicide on hook with games like this. Even if the game is a guaranteed 4k I still pull my weight and give it a red hot go. Matchmaking is always hit or miss so if I gave up every time I felt I was matched with players I shouldn't be, then I'd never get to play.

  • In that situation I'd DC straight up. My time is more valuable than that.

I don't totally disagree but the main issue is as killer it's a lot easier make it "fun" for survivors than the other way around. It's also a lot harder to convey to the killer "Hey, I'm willing to have a little fun and you can even kill me after if you want". The times I have seen a killer struggle and I've decided to let them get into a chase with me and down me eventually has ended up in me being face camped to death.

I took pity on a killer once and tried to give them a free hook. But I had been matched with some crazy 3man swf who would not let that happen. There was bodyblocking and flashlights and flash grenades and hook sabotaging. Had a protection detail all the way out the gate. I think I inadvertently made the killer's game even worse...

  • @Blueberry said:

Essentially always on 100% for survivor for my zone, only think I've ever seen it on killer once and that lasted for a good 10 minutes.

Same. 100% survivor except a couple weeks back I saw a 50% killer at around 9.30pm but it was back to survivor a game later. At least it assured me my game wasn't glitched

  • @Rudjohns said:

Tunneling at 5 gens? I just throw myself into the killer, kill myself on hook and move on with another match. They want easy games? They will have it.

Funny thing is, you'd be doing the opposite for them lol you're helping inflate their kill rate so they'll get harder opponents as they go on

  • It's just RNG unfortunately. It does suck when it happens but that's just the nature of the game

So you dont expect to win anymore, and find fun constantly losing to killer

I don't go in expecting to win, no. If I do it's nice bonus bp. Framing it as 'having fun losing' is odd, as I'm having fun regardless of whether I win or lose. I'm enjoying the game regardless of the outcome.

  • Probably not. I've been using Distortion this week because of this perk. I don't like to go far from my gen.

  • Honestly, what helped me as a solo player was letting go of the goal of escaping. Now, a successful game to me is simply one where i pulled my weight, pipped, and walked away with decent bp. Escape is a bonus. The game genuinely became more enjoyable after that. And it also helps when I get those potato team mates too, as I find them more amusing rather than frustrating. I know that train of thought isn't possible for everyone, but it's definitely what keeps me interested.

So it wasnt just only me. Last time i played my main i was like "is the map bugged or smth?" but i guess its freddy himself then XD

(btw appreciate the flower instead of generic black barrs :D )

Honestly, I went for the black bars but then decided to check out what else my phone had to offer and voila!

  • If they've just started playing him then I'm not sure what other result was expected. Maybe I'm in the minority, but a new killer probably isn't going to do well until they've had a bit of practice.

  • Good to know it's a bug! It was painful haha

  • The basement may have been scary to me the first couple months of playing, but it inevitably wore off. Everything scary about the game eventually wears off

Welcome to a huge problem with DbD: when there are only two survivors left, the game is a mess. It is against the rules for survivors not to work on gens for an extended period of time. If all remaining survivors stealth around the map trying to hide from the killer while not progressing the objective, it is a bannable offense (this has been stated by the devs multiple times, it's not my opinion). However, if one person is working on gens while the other stealths around the map, this is technically okay because a survivor is attempting to progress the objective and so the killer has a reasonable chance to locate them.

In this situation, it's very understandable why the survivor who's playing the game would get upset at the one stealthing around avoiding the objective and the killer. If the one attempting the objective instead decided to also play totally selfishly and go into hiding, then it becomes a reportable offense.

In other words, don't be the survivor who stealths around the map when there are only two left. You'll make enemies. When I play killer, if I notice that I keep finding one of two remaining survivors, I will comb the map for however long it takes to find the one hiding. I did that yesterday to a Claudette dressed in black on the damn swamp. She was sticking to the walls, crouching behind rocks while letting the poor Ash take all the aggro, not healing him or helping him with gens.

If you are attempting to do the objective and not stealthing around the map selfishly, then your teammate absolutely deserves to be reported and hopefully the devs will do something about it. Working with the killer is definitely bannable. As a rule, the devs don't tell us what actions they take against those who are reported, so things may be getting done about it but you'll never know.

I'm the one who sticks to a gen while the other stealths. In my experience, most killers aren't like you. I can count only one time when a killer clued on. They slugged me then checked out basement and found the other survivor hiding, and after hooking them they gave me hatch. I've been keeping track of my games and I die third more often than not, I'm assuming because of the above scenario where there's two of us and I'm the only one to be found.

  • It was the same with Wesker though. I remember this exact topic getting posted here about every Wesker running NOED the week he got released. I think it's more than they're looking for something to help secure a kill while they're still learning the killer. I predict in a week or two NOED use will be down.

I think they're better on average but I admit I could be wrong. My logic is that most people don't know Nightlight exists unless they've been playing a long while, or stumbled upon it on the forums.

As for the lower kill rates, I think maybe it might be that mostly survivors update (since 4 v 1) and some don't update their 0E

Probably good to note that Nightlight is also really only used by English speakers. Gaming is extremely popular in Asian regions but you probably won't get a lot of data from there on Nightlight.

  • That's kind of annoying. I'm not much of a looper but I'm trying to get better at it. Running along straight walls is alot easier than running around obstacles, especially for those of us on console. I feel like this is something good loopers can easily adapt to, while it's another set back for those of us still learning.

  • I'd be down. Every time I see a Lerys offering I groan cos I know it's a scratched mirror Myers

  • As a solo survivor, I don't mind it that much tbh. If it causes the game to drag then it can get a bit frustrating but in general it keeps me on my toes.

  • Pretty sure they've said before that they usually give killers a few months before judging their performance. I'm assuming to give players time to learn to play him.

  • @MaTtRoSiTy said:

He is very unfun to go against and is one to add to the trend of anti loop killers that force a very un-interactive hold W to next loop playstyle. As I mentioned in my own thread earlier, there are some who are using an exploit to camp with Make Your Choice where he has no TR so he can camp and expose the person unhooking so he can insta-down them then tunnel the person who just got unhooked.

His design encourages the least enjoyable game play in DBD and while I am not excusing or encouraging people exiting matches, I am starting to at least understand it

Gonna backtrack on my earlier comment because I actually just had a game against him and what you said was my exact experience. He was very unfun to go against. And before anyone thinks I'm saying that because I lost: I always lose, I'm a casual player who doesnt care about escaping and enjoys dying for team mates. The entire gameplay was just legit boring and if people are going against that game after game after game then I actually see why these players are DCing lol

  • Yeah that's a bit silly. You can't learn how to counter a killer if you refuse to play against them

  • I play solo and never see more than one COH at a time. Maybe a swf team will bring more than one, but then Eruption isn't that effective against them anyway

  • I got matched with someone once who had the same username as a forum regular. It wasn't a common username either, so I think it possibly was them.

Please just let us see ping in the lobby.

This. It's bs the amount of games I'm put in where the killer is playing from the moon. I'd rather longer queue times than trying to play with that. I've heard some people do it on purpose, using VPNs, because it's an easy win. So letting us see it in the lobby is the only way we can personally counter this.

  • "I'm not responsible for anyone else's fun" is unfortunately a common sentiment among this playerbase

  • I've been steamrolled many times by so-called weak killers. I'd ignore chat and just keep playing them. You can only get better and then those survivors won't have much to say

  • Unfortunately it happens. With survivors you're in a tricky situation where one mishap can often have a domino effect. I had a game not long ago that I'm still salty about (which is unusual for me, I'm usually able to move on but this one is burned in my memory now) where i'm 100% confident it would have been a guaranteed 3 escape if it weren't for one team mate who decided finishing the last gen was more important than unhooking me while the other survivor was in chase. Other survivor goes down and is hooked, and still the other person prioritises the last gen. They get exposed while on the gen and downed a cpl seconds later. What should have been a win was ruined by a massive misplay from one person.

  • I feel like some killers have ptsd with this map, because it came out around the same time as the original Boil Over buff and many survivors took advantage of the main building

  • I don't mind it, I only get annoyed when another survivor leads him to me. Which happens so often with Tombstone Myers that I suspect the survivors in question suspect he has it and want him to use it on someone else

  • They're typically waiting for you to die (or they're new). Doesn't matter what you do at that stage, you're probably gonna die either way. Either wait and hope, or let go and go to the next game.

  • @Hexan said:

Why make it basekit when you can use the perk, I don't get people saying things is a problem and there is perk to counter those problem, but people are not using them, but say they should be basekit.

Am I'm not getting something or what?

It's to compliment the Finisher Mori update. The update will make it so hooking isn't necessary to finish the game, which would be problematic since so much of the game revolves around hooking (hooking and unhooking contribute to pipping, bps, challenges, and to keep the game moving in general). So the UB basekit will make it so hooking is still appealing and/or necessary. If we weren't getting the Finisher Mori, then I guarantee there'd be no basekit UB. They just go hand in hand.

  • Not for me. I won't play the knight (I'm too lazy for that learning curve) and Vittorio's perks aren't appealing enough. Fogwise looks decent but great skill checks aren't my thing unless it's by accident lol

  • I still play him on occasion. He's the only killer I enjoy playing

  • I mean yeah, Vittorio is a good looking bloke but so what? They can release a Jason Momoa look-alike survivor and I still won't buy him unless he has good or useful perks. I guess ultimately sex sells, and always has, but not to me. Also Mikaela is a pretty popular survivor and I wouldn't say she's overly sexy.

Unfortunately these are the kind of things toxic SWF groups like to abuse so I guess the just removed that option from the game.

Difference is, in an actual game there is a killer to take the toxic swf down. No random killer is gonna hang around for an hour and watch a toxic swf waste everyones time. In the PTB, the swf and killer were all friends testing the limits of the perk.

  • @Rovend said:

That is the cause of people overexagerating over perks being tested on ptb.

People saw 4 survivors using reassurance in the ptb leaving one surv in the hook for minutes and were mindblowed thinking this would break the game, not realising that it was going to be a very rare occasion of all survs using it or it could be easily countered by simply NOT HOOK CAMPING.

They were all friends, including the killer, they were just playing around testing the limits of the perk. And people treated it like it was going to be the standard of the game from now on
