Killer can be fun, but it can also be incredibly stressful too. Yea the better you get higher chance you are going to win games, but at the same time this game's rng set ups influence your chance to win. Survivors have been getting better about doing gens, so that just makes games much more stressful. You can play absolutely perfectly, but you can still lose, if people just do gens. Survivor you can play and not be stressed out at all. There is a problem with the game if you can play killer and be stressed out compared to playing survivor where it's rather relaxing even if you don't win.

That’s true but the same can be said about solo queue survivor. The issue here is with natchmaking

  • Lol don’t listen to all the idiots in this forum. Killer can definitely be fun and you’ll improve the more you play and learn and will be winning most games. It’s just that matchmaking is terrible right now and can be very unfair.

They are working on an MMR system to help this but who knows when this will be implemented or even if it will work properly

  • You all criticise BHVR but if the balancing was done like most of you guys wish there wouldn’t be game left to balance.

BT and Iron Will are a meta perk and a medium-hard counter to several killers.

Meta perks are the meta for a reason. Because they get you the best value/effort for what you expend to use the perk. The survivor meta is extremely aggressive, making it counter to the desired killer experience. In addition, these perks carry many survivor mains due to the power of the meta, leaving them almost completely defenseless in the event that they don't have access to these specific perks, not due to the basekit of survivors, but due to lack of skills that the survivors had developed to, you know survive.

    This is p r o b l e m a t i c, as many people have said before.

Perks like Kindred Spirit and Unbreakable, however, are closer to most of the the killer meta in function, existing mostly to counter gameplay issues that have never been fixed and remain viable strategies, like gen speeds and drawing out chases forever on the killer side, and slugging and camping on the survivor side.

The issue with this is that most of these "remedial" perks are used on the killer side, and are extremely passive in comparison to the survivor perks. Remedial perks on the survivor side are really more of counter perks, since the issues on the survivor side are mostly the game being unfun when the killer uses certain tactics. Remedial perks on the killer side are to primarily assist with winning, since that's the main issue on the killer side, other than, of course toxicity.

Note: interestingly, there are very, very few survivor perks that combat actually toxic behavior from killers. But, thinking about it, that goes for both sides.

The killer meta is mostly slowdown perks (Ruin, Thrilling, PGtW, etc.), which fall into remedial perks, with only a couple perks that you would actually expect to be in the killer meta (Nurse's, BBQ, MYC, etc.).

The survivor meta is mostly second chance perks (Self Care, DS, UB, etc.), and perks that are basically there to make sure the game remains a casual game for survivors (Spine Chill, BT, Iron Will, etc.), and a couple perks just meant to hinder or even bully the killer if used right (Boil Over, Dead On, Saboteur, etc.).

Notice any issues here? If not, I don't really see the point in me talking any more.

Lol everything you said can just be said in reverse. You say killers perks are there to counter gameplay issues. The exact same thing can be said about these so called OP perks. What if the issue is that it’s too easy for killers do down survivors, and they need these to have any chance. I can now call these ‘remedial’ perks like you called all the killer ones. Second chance perks are no different to perks and killer add ons that give hits when they other wouldn’t have

  • @EvanSnowWolf said:

Are people seriously whining about Insidious?

The perk that gives Survivors free generators?

Wow. Survivors really will complain about ANYTHING.

Lol there’s at least 4 x more survivors in this game, but this forum is a 50/50 split pretty much in terms of which side complains. That’s means killers complain a lot more

  • The word bullying gets thrown about so much in this game. This world has become so soft 🤦‍♂️

  • If you think survivors should be allowed a perk that helps them to extend chase.

Why are killers allowed to have many perks and add ons that help to reduce chase length.

Dude, if that's true then only 10% of game (this is saying 10% of the games it would before have worked right?) Had real tunneling in them. If you are doing a totem, touching a gen or saving a teammate you are not being tunneled. Or your incredibly stupid and decide to go for unsafe unhooks/ not heal before doing a gen if the killers nearby. If you are being tunneled, just do not so anything that stops it and you will hold them off for 1 minute (a huge amount of time if your teammates capitalise) and it still isn't deactivated so you have another minute.

However if you wanted that 1 minute of invincibility and it to be a anti momentum perk rather than an anti tunneling perk then sucks to be you. Killers aren't allowed anti momentum perks so why should you be.they are bad for the game in general, so neither side should have them.

    Duh... that’s why I said 10% lol

It´s not useless. It protects against tunneling killers. Just like it does now.

Of course it’s useless. In 90% of games it won’t even get any use at all. In the other 10% when it does get used they’ll just eat the DS and keep tunnelling. It doesn’t protect against tunnelling but also does nothing else.

  • I don’t, I only just got it the other week in the showcase. I’m just pointing out how useless of a perk it will become

  • @Tsulan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1984377#Comment_1984377

Well, if you´re not getting tunneled, then yes. It´s a wasted perk slot.

That’s exactly why I said it, I probably get tunnelled off hook in about 10% of games so most of the time it’s gonna be pointless. It’s just not worth bringing at all with the new changes

  • @Chilli_man2400 said:

Well the good news is DS is getting a fair change it’s still going to be strong but it can’t get abused

The new DS is far from strong, I can only see it working in about 10% of games if that. It’s gonna be a wasted perk slot but at the same time it might just be needed to have an obsession in the game

And survivors dc or die on first hook.

Not whataboutism dw imma explain my logic.

Killer is a stressful role. So survivors bringing certain items can add to more stress. Just like if survivors face certain killers like lets say freddy. Survivors would then either dc or die on first hook. Why couldnt killers decide if they want to sweat there ass off in a lobby or not? I mean once we queue as killers, we are locked in that killer choice. To have added stress of having to go against a key user is ugh. (I pref a whole team of flashlight users. They usually follow me around not doing gens). Does that make sense to you why it shouldnt be a problem? I also want to point out, survivors can make the game miserable for killers. And the signs to that are usually right there in the lobby.

    Killers dc too...

  • @SilentPill said:

It’s a PvP game, neither side is there to ensure the opponents fun. That’s like saying “don’t go on a kill streak in call of duty because the other player feels bad about getting owned!”

All it takes is a few toxic SWF games and you will be tunneling people out left and right. I certainly do. And I’ve played enough it’s habit at this point.

That’s true, but then you could also compare camping in DBD to spawn trapping in COD. Both are bad/unhealthy for the game and players on the receiving end. COD had this problem on one of the small maps and they changed the coding to make sure it doesn’t happen. This game just lets it happen

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1980976#Comment_1980976

If your response to tunneling is that it's unfun, then mine is that getting gen rushed is unfun.

If your response is gen rushing and tunneling aren't the same, well buddy they objectively are. You both are completing your objective as effectively as possible, and gens being done in <4 minutes is really difficult to deal with, even if I'm playing my nurse.

You don't get how ridiculous it is to ask for no tunneling, then instantly go to a thread about gen rushing and ridiculing them.

But the difference is a survivor tunnelling a gen doesn’t stop the killer from still being able to play the game and chase/hit/hook other survivors, it just makes the game shorter.

If a killer tunnels a survivor they literally can’t do anything apart from try to run and just die (if the killer has any idea of how to chase)

  • It’s a fake video, survivors are OP and are the power role.

  • Otz I agree with.

Truetalent being top level and mature? Lol sorry no chance

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1981195#Comment_1981195

Exactly. Killers struggled even with restrictions.

No real meta. 4x DS, BT, Unbreakable, DH and it would have turned into a 0k.

They also aren’t allowed to use the strongest killers in the game and there’s many other things restricted for killers so this has no indication of you’re crazy idea that this game is extremely survivor sided. Plus I’ve only watched like 1 match and the killer was getting stuck on corners and looping the wrong way and made terrible decisions. It was like green rank gameplay.

I am saying the toxicity creates toxicity, I am just a result of this circle... I am not here to change the game. I don't tunnel and I don't camp hooks, but I will sweat to beat those that choose to play the game in a bully way.

Yes it’s just a vicious cycle of toxicity that this game has become. The first person to have ever started this toxicity must feel like Jesus. They’ve started a new way of DBD life.

  • So you’re blaming the survivors for now making you become toxic.

And those survivors will blame killers for making them act toxic.

This just keeps going round and now the whole game has become toxic.

  • @ZaKzan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1978077#Comment_1978077

Survivor gameplay completely revolves around information. A large portion of survivor perks revolve around gaining information. If you are working on a gen and a fellow survivor is downed, you have to make the choice to continue working on that gen or saving the downed survivor. If you and another survivor both decide to save that person, you just reduced your team's gen efficiency by 50%. If you were on voice comms, this wouldn't happen.

By design, voice chat was not intended for this game. That's why you need to use 3rd party software to voice chat. The issue is that the devs lack the ability to balance the game around it, and they know that it's such a large part of the game, if they did nerf it in any way, they would lose tens of thousands of players. I wouldn't call it cheating, but it's certainly a crutch and gives all survivors in voice chat about 8-9 perks instead of 4.

Of course there’s a huge advantage and balancing issues, but that’s the devs problem. To call people cheating when it’s clearly not against the rule is just stupid.

... you know swf wasen't originally in the game right?

It was only added afterwards because of popular demand and because people started lobby dodging untill they had the same lobby as their friends.

And while it's not as big of an issue now with how the game has changed over the years it was very much not intended in the beginning.

Might want to do a quick fact check before calling someone daft. It does not make you look good

Lmao just because it wasn’t implemented straight doesn’t mean it wasn’t always intended. And regardless of that, when it was added they knew people would talk over voice comms. But you seem to think the devs live under a rock and have no idea how online gaming works despite them actually creating one. Okay then 😂

  • Lolol, imagine thinking talking to your teammates is ‘cheating’.

What year do you think this game was released, 1990?

The devs knew voice comms would be used and if you think otherwise then you’re just daft or lying to yourself.

  • @Elena said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1976618#Comment_1976618

Yeah, HALF of it, meaning you didn't read the full post. Therefore, don't write such an unnecessary comment before reading the whole thing.

Obviously, I’m only addressing part of it so why would I mention the whole thing lol.

And unless you don’t know the meaning of double standards either, then you know what I said is true but you avoided saying anything about that...double standards?

  • That was part of it, and half the thread is talking about tunnelling and camping.

  • So you’re saying survivors have double standards because they think tunnelling/camping is bad?

Do you know the meaning of double standards?

A killer can camp/tunnel a survivor completely out of the game so they literally don’t even get to play the match.

A survivor can’t do this to a killer.

  • You’re playing killer wrong then

  • So you’d rather the game just be full of guessing and not using your senses? Would make chases have no skill.

  • Lmao this forum is full of terrible killers giving terrible advice, if you keep this mindset of thinking that this game is survivor sided then you’ve already just accepted defeat and no wonder you’re struggling and not improving.

How are you gonna get better at the game if you just blame the losses on the game rather than looking at your mistakes and how to improve your gameplay?

  • Then I think it’s a really good idea, the only issue I see is how would they implement / referee the rules of no camping/tunneling/slugging. But that’s for the tournament organisers to figure out

  • I don’t get all the arguments going on but this thread. Is this his idea just for a tournament based on high skilled players or is it his idea of what he thinks the game should be?

For a tournament I think it would be a really good idea, would make it a way better game to spectate since it would involve loads more chases and less camping/tunneling.

For the normal game of course it’s a terrible idea

  • For a tournament do the rules even matter since it’s a points based system and each team plays both roles. I guess having ruin up with no camping/tunneling always makes the game longer and a bit more interesting to watch?

  • You realise that they won? All they wanted was to get in your head and you allowed it

  • @Dragonshensi said:

Just had a match where everyone was constantly grouped together and the minute I hooked someone they would unhook. Of course most of them had Dead Hard except one. They kept trying to bodyblock and would never leave the hook so forced me to camp. Finally downed the one who didn’t have dead hard and killed him. Everyone else escaped. Think they were a team cause I could never find them for the longest. Also I’m low level Killer 13. Getting ranked with sweaty tryhard reds. The one I killed messaged me accusing me of tunneling and I need to get skills. It’s not my fault they all hovered around the hook and I couldn’t leave. I seriously wanted to DC cause it was the swamp, everything was dark and all everyone do was crouch. I only get one kill and I get hate for it. And of course these survivors were toxic. Constantly tbagging and such. I managed to hook and chase others so I wasnt tunneling. I mostly camped the dude during endgame cause they were constantly around me. All of them.

It made me feel like a loser honestly. They had all the advantages in this match and I had practically none. I was the Huntress. I can throw a hatchet....yay. Honesty doesn’t make me want to play Killer anymore.

I don’t really understand what happens. You was struggling to find them hiding in bushes, but also they were all grouped up and unhooking straight away?

Anyway whatever happened if this honestly gets to you then the best advice I could say is not to play this game, it’s toxic af and will only get worse. Or just stick to playin survivor SWF. Mental health is more important than a game

  • So just because someone wanted to play with a friend you had to try and ruin their experience by tunneling/camping. Okay then 😐

  • You do realise the survivor they pick is pretty much just a skin? Only difference is the noises they make. It doesn’t change the way they play...

  • It might not work as it’s meant to, but surely it will improve the matchmaking from what it is now. Right?...

  • @CluelessWanderer said:

No one, especially new players, deserve toxic, abusive messages. In fact, I'll go the full mile and say no one deserves to be told to "kill themselves" over a damn video game regardless.

If you think otherwise, you're a questionable individual, but I'm sure it's on purpose.

Why are you just saying random made up stuff for lol? Where did I say anyone deserves these kind of messages and stuff? All I said is you’re clearly doing something to antogonise people into sending you these messages otherwise it wouldn’t happen. I didn’t once defend the people sending it.

  • Lol you really don’t like the fact that you’re either really bad at the game or you play like a dick. Either way those are the reasons you get hateful messages, if you did nothing wrong you wouldn’t get them

  • @CluelessWanderer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1962031#Comment_1962031

    No.

I play both Killer and Survivor and I had to turn off messaging on my console. My first afternoon playing Killer I started getting messages post-match telling me "how much I sucked" from survivors who escaped.

On survivor side I got a message filled with insults from another survivor after the game because I didn't save his ass from the hook first. It was a scenario where he and 2 team mates rushed every hook like idiots, never waiting for the Killer to get far enough away for saves and they all ended up hooked or slugged. So there I am, the only one who was doing gens, and I had to decide who to pick up/save first. Who was the most viable?

So post game I got abusive messages from a David I couldn't get to in time (and the Killer was camping him).

    You're full of it.

Well you’re doing something wrong cos like I said, I’ve never had any hateful messages on PS4 and my inbox is freely open. You must be really bad at the game or something to get so many.

  • I play on PS4 and I’ve never once had a hateful message. It’s probably the way you’re playing

  • First of all, did I just watch green rank players because that’s what it seemed like to me? That Pig had no idea, was even getting stuck on corners. Those survivors weren’t even good either, they just did gens.

And yeah competitive games actually require skill, this game requires none. Also the amount of RNG involved is insane so no chance, and it’s been made to deliberately have RNG

  • @Moundshroud said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1960899#Comment_1960899

I didn't avoid it. I was quite clear. I don't have enough information to make an estimate, nor do you. If you like, I'd be happy to track my next hundred matches as a Killer and as a Survivor (which would be 200 matches) and count the times I am tunneled, i.e. I'm unhooked and immediately followed by the Killer again and hooked next with nothing in between. *Likewise, how often I do it as a Killer. But to get an estimate, you need real data. Otherwise, you are just guessing and your memory will play you false. You will remember what you want to remember, i.e. whatever feeds your theory. It is seeking confirmation bias.

So, exactly WHAT are you basing YOUR estimates on? You seem to throw around a lot of numbers. Where is that data coming from?

Do you know what the words rough estimate means? All you need is a bit of experience playing the game and a couple brain cells and you’ll be able to make an estimate

  • @Moundshroud said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1960450#Comment_1960450

I play both Killer and Survivor (Solo mostly). On average, I have no clue. Unlike you, I don't just toss out numbers to try and make my case. When I want to test something, I record my games and go back and count. A good sample size is a hundred matches. Do I think people get tunneled near as much as THEY think they get tunneled? No. But short of collecting actual data, as I have for other experiments, I don't assume. For the record, I don't run DS much at all because I don't think I get a good return on it. However, enough people (a LOT of them do) so clearly they must be getting a return.

Why are you avoiding the question? I’ve just asked for an estimate

  • @Moundshroud said:

And as I've said, and everyone can clearly see, your point is pointless. :) By all means, continue... amaze us with your insight... impress us with your acumen. Continue to tell us that the new DS will be useless and how no one will take it. In short order, we will see if you are right or not. That is why I love these Forums because whenever you post some other bit of your odd wisdom, I'm going to to jump on and link them back to this topic so they can know the quality of your credentials. :)

Okay answer this simple question, roughly as a percentage, how often as a survivor do you get tunnelled? Or if you don’t play survivor, then a rough estimate of how often you think a general survivor gets tunnelled?
