  • Actually SWF CAUSES all those problems. Killers are tunneling more because of SWF. They want to reduce the 4v1 to a 3v1 as rapidly as possible.

  • Trick 'R Treat: I'd love for us to have Sam as the Killer. It would be hilarious to see him dragging a full grown person and then tossing them upwards to fly on the pole. His Totems would be Jack-o-Lanterns.... etc.

  • Because you agreed to their terms when you bought the game, and those terms include the right to make whatever changes they see fit to it.

When you are playing red rank in Europe and you get a tunneler/camper killer 9 games out of 10, it is affecting the game. I don't think they have statistics about it...

And i'm not the only one getting tunneled, almost every game there is a survivor that is tunneled and camped.

I concede I know nothing about how things are handled in Europe. I had thought (and hoped) that we all were on the same page for everything. But given that different populations are going to have their own trends and play styles, I suppose that was an unrealistic thought. Either way, those behaviors are tools in the Killer's tool box. They will always be around. We (when playing Survivor) either find a way to play around them, accept the outcome if we can't, or find another game if we aren't having fun.

I've been face camped, camped, tunneled, slugged, and suffered the Mori my fair share. I just do my best to adapt to it. I think acceptance of the fact they aren't going away is less stressful. Since I play both Killer and Survivor pretty equally, I have a wide perspective on it, and understand the problems BOTH endure.

Whenever I get a GG or some kind of compliment, I take it as a 'I played fair, and it was a fun match for all'. It gives me hope that there are still decent people who just want to enjoy themselves. Anyone that feels the need to message me informing me I'm trash, or EZ Game baby killer, etc, don't get the time of day from me.

Well, I would give you the GG even if you played hard and curb-stomped me (us). All you have to do to "play fair" in my book is:

    1. Don't cheat, either with hacks or lag switches.
    2. Don't disconnect; if you start a game, finish it.
    3. Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.

That equals FAIR PLAY. You deserve a GG for meeting this criteria; nothing more is required in my book.

  • @Jyn_Mojito said:

In regards to messaging Killer after match. I play both sides but survivor more consistently. If I play a Killer who wowed me, or played without toxicity, I will message them after game to say GG and wish them luck in the Fog.

But with so many posts on forum that talk about whiny/entitled survivors, am I just wasting my time sending these messages? Do Killer players appreciate the messages, or am I wasting my breath? I'm not looking to fall on any swords, but rather genuinely curious.

Being a good sport is never a waste of time. I usually say "GG Killer" myself. I don't often get a response, but I think most Killers are so used to Salt they barely look at the chat anymore or have already hit continue or upgrade. I say keep doing it, and so will I. Hopefully we can turn this franchise around and get a positive feedback loop going.

Tunneling and mori's are for noobish chumps.

Camping, tunneling, slugging, and the Mori are all tools in the Killer tool box. The are special use tools, to be sure, but they all have their place. Good, average, mediocre, and bad Killers all use them. In general, however, the more skilled the Killer the more optimal the use will be. Chances are you won't even know they are doing it. I hate to bust your illusion, but these tools aren't just for Newbies. In fact, Newbies use them poorly, and hence you are more likely to notice and complain about it.

  • I see an average of 1-2 disconnects within every two games.

  • @PB_TORCHer said:

When killers bring a Mori and/or tunnel because of a key is counter productive. This helps the conditions to spawn the hatch happen faster. Tunneling leaves the rest of the survivors to complete gens uninterrupted. This too helps the condition to spawn a hatch. So I say "Why do you keep hitting yourself?" Often I notice the player with the key is a unhelpful teammate. Usually overly concerned with using it and not helping the others complete the last gens. If your so concerned about the key DON"T HELP THEM!

This is just incorrect, and I'm chalking it up to what I'm guessing is inexperience. Killers tunnel those holding Keys for all sorts of reasons.

    1. They might use it to get themselves and the whole squad out.
    2. Keys often have other powers, none of them good for the Killer.

Tunneling is a tool in the tool box, and sometimes it has value (sometimes not). People who tunnel don't have to give up pressure on Generators to do it. It is just a matter of target choice, nothing more. If I see someone in the Lobby with a Key, I make note of it and they have priority for me if I run into a group of Survivors.

I don't teabag a killer I clearly outmatched who was just trying to learn the game/a new power. I teabag killers that tunnel or camp, I teabag to say thank you for giving me the hatch or for farming, I teabag to quickly grab the killer's attention away from something else, I teabag when I know the killer is about to see my aura as a way to say "come get me" and finally I teabag the killer when they outplayed me and I'm about to go down.

Do you know of any horror movie where the killer and survivor don't taunt each other? You know, before they viciously murder one another? Play a co op game if you wanna hold hands and sing kumbaya

Cute, but no. The question in this thread is which Killer is most "satisfying" to tea-bag. I think ti is great you have all these OTHER meanings behind your desire to tea-bag, but to the vast majority of people here it has a very specific meaning, and certain people get "satisfaction" out of doing it.

  • I've commented on this before, and I will again (I'm sure). You cannot get rid of face camping or tunneling because:

    1. They are largely subjective. I've had people accuse me of face camping them just because they could see me and I them.
    2. Killers are Players with agency and not Bots. They provide a service and cannot do their job without that agency.
    3. Killers have a tool box, and camping, tunneling, slugging, and the Mori are all valid tools in it.

If you want to encourage Killers to leave the hook, you will never be able to do it with punishments. It will only work if they benefit more by leaving than staying, and right now a bird in hand is better than two in the bush. Instead of penalizing their points for staying near the hook, you should give them points and progress toward an Emblem for staying away from it. Just like Survivors earn progress for staying in a Killer's Terror Radius, reward them for being nice to the Entity and stretching out the match.

You could likewise make the Perk Barbecue & Chili built into the game so they immediately see some distant target so they have a place to go. Most Killers (new ones at least) stay because otherwise they don't have a target. Are you comfortable giving them targets to make it worth their while to leave? :) As to tunneling, well, blame your buddies for the unsafe rescues. You shouldn't expect the Killer to ignore the easier down; that is just silly for them to act against their own best interests. Again, if you give them reason to leave the area, you will have more time for the SAFE rescues. Do you see my point?

And let's not forget that many Killers (you don't know what they are thinking) can SEE or are aware of the other Survivors hiding right nearby. Why should they leave when they KNOW you are there? Blame your buddies. I'm not going to walk away when I can see 1-3 targets in the tall grass or behind a rock. Nor am I going to go loop with them when I know I'll lose. I'm going to sit right where I am and wait for their mistake. I'm not camping, I'm literally hunting because I can see the prey. And sometimes, the guy/gal on the hook is bait. There is no shame in that at all. Depending on the specific match and where I am in the match, why would I leave? If all the Generators are up, for example, the best way to catch a Survivor is to be where I know they are going next.

You're not wrong and that's exactly why I think etiquette should be brought up more often in debates instead of fun. At least with debating etiquette we'd have chance of progress even if it's minimal. Hell, even though the community would never completely agree on a common etiquette I think you'd see a lot better discussions then ones that bring up fun as the main topic.

IDK, it's just became a pet peeve of mine to see people trying to debate "fun" in some of these threads. Fun is important, don't get me wrong but trying to debate it just seems pointless to me.

Agreed and this is a VERY good point. "Fun" is a totally subjective in nature. Etiquette, at least, has a framework, something we can work towards or agree is impossible. Either way, it is a better terminology.

  • I'm neutral on it. As long as the ranges and audibility for the Killers is the same, why should I care? I live in Maine, and I can assure you that real generators are loud as hell. Perhaps they are going for immersion on that one. My hat is off to them for the effort; I think it is a bit ungrateful to complain about something they clearly spent a lot of time on and doesn't (as far as I can tell) affect game play.

I do have Technician as a Perk and I do use it (regularly) and as far as I can tell I haven't had any more Killers finding me working on a Generator based on noise than before.

  • @ohheyitsbobcat said:

It's DBD Etiquette, nothing more and nothing less. Plenty of other games have their own community etiquette and DBD is no different in that respect. Whether you follow these community rules or not is up to you and while a lot of people use "fun" as the excuse for their anger, it's more just them being mad you broke said rules. After all, I can still have fun in matches I got facecamped but I'm still annoyed I was facecamped because it broke the rules of etiquette.

It's really up to each person at the end of the day. To use another games example; in Dark Souls do you bow before a duel and use no estus or do you use every available resource in a gank squad to make your opponent know pain? Same here. Face camp, tunnel, first hook mori, OoO, small PP build, the list goes on. Do you use everything available or do you follow etiquette?

I keep seeing the f-word brought up a lot but I think as community we should start referring to it only as DBD etiquette. Fun is such a silly word to bring up in things like these since it's so subjective in the first place. It's much easier to just refer to this problem as community etiquette and debate over that instead of how much potential fun a person is having because you stood next to them for a second too long or god forbid you pushed the ctrl key.

I can ALMOST get fully behind this post, except that it isn't even Etiquette yet. An etiquette is a guide of behavior, a moray if you will, that is agreed upon by the MAJORITY of a community or population. I don't think we have even reached a point of agreement over which (if any) behaviors are expected or not. I know a LOT of Survivors want to author the Book of Rules for Killers that Samination makes fun of, but let's be honest here, there is no etiquette yet, none. I don't think there ever will be either beyond DON'T CHEAT.

Validating a way of playing that is toxic for one player, sometimes more as it is possible that a killer will camp/tunnel 2 survivors in a game.

And then the devs ask to be benevolent and to have a positive attitude. I might be too dumb to understand where is the logic in all this.

Gaming is the fact to play games, in "play games" there is play and games, it has to be funny, not toxic.

Also, the developpers are calling this behavior "strategy" while it is a cheap mechanics, even broken mechanic cause you can easily get kills with it, especially aginst soloQ players. All the survivors are asking the devs to remove this camping/tunneling possiblities from the game, for ages now.

Killers have asked for less pallets/windows/safe loops/items nerf/smaller maps/to remove infinite etc... And devs gave them everything to the point survivors had nothnig but continuous nerf at every new patch... Do you call it fair ? Where is it fair ?

The DEV make changes to the game based on actual game statistics, not hurt feelings. In other words, Face Camping isn't a REAL problem. Most Killers grow out of it as it is rarely a productive tactic. Statistically it doesn't affect the actual ratio of games. Game Balance is about game balance, not who is the most annoyed.

  • @Buttercake said:

Why survivors bring the chase to another survivor that is Working on gen or totem...why do you break free and hurt this new poor sap? You can see that the team already has a sandbagger on board and they gonna struggle on account. Why make matters worse and join in on the bad play?

And I'm only talking about when it's obvious not times where it could be an accident.

Don't hate the Playa... hate the game. :) Look, I don't know if that guy is a Sandbagger or not. That person I'm chasing might have had no idea you are there. I'm going to down him/her and YOU. I've never seen it be OBVIOUS except when said Survivor stops and points and tries to lead me somewhere. When they do that, I just down them and put them in my basement. I don't like dirty cheats. But in a chase, it is rarely obvious, and I don't assume someone is a cheat until I KNOW someone is a cheat.

I mean, I'm fine with that. I never grief or shame anyone or make them play my way. Worst I'll do is hit you with a 'ggwp', and if it was like... a Forever Freddy with a Game offering, then I'll hit you with the 'man that was boring' after the gg. I don't mind people seeing this as a competitive game- I just think that not enough people realize that not everyone plays like that, and the system in place now really doesn't help things, since everyone plays together in the same queue- no matter how they see the game.

And this is completely fair. I realize it. I also play Warhammer and Warmachine/Hordes tabletop. Some people are VERY competitive in those games, while others see them merely as beer and pretzel games. I don't begrudge the people who aren't as hardcore as me about them. I just don't want want to hear any whining from them when they choose to play less than their best. That isn't my fault, nor is it my job to tone down my play because they chose to do so with their own.

I just see far too much demonizing of Players for merely playing the game. I consider that passing the buck, blaming one's own choices on other people. It is the easy way out. Now, all that being said, do I sometimes take my foot off the accelerator when I realize I'm in with people I completely dominate? Yeah, I do. If I'm playing late night and I end up with Newbies because there aren't enough people to match me with those on my level, there isn't much point in bulldozing them. I do "play soft" now and then, but I rarely tell them that. Nobody wants Pity. I just slow down and let them learn and earn a few extra points out of a longer game.

I don't tell people that often because I don't want it to be expected. If you feed the bears they get a taste for it. I just play at the level they SHOULD be facing. That is my charity and I keep it to myself.

  • @unluckycombo said:

Lol sorry m8, but if you want me to treat the game as an actual Competitive Game, there needs to be changes first.

As a very specific example that I love to use here, the big one is that the game doesn't really have a strict win condition. If you want to see this game as competitive, it needs to have a strict win condition. While I know this is an asymmetrical game, for example, if I play a game of Overwatch, when I get to the end screen, I get a definitive win or loss.

Don't get me wrong, there are still win conditions in Dead by Daylight. Obviously, survivors and killers have objectives for a reason. However, when you get to the end game screen, the best we get is a scoring system made up by the Devs, who say themselves don't actually represent your skill. So what are we really counting as a win? The game's system which the Devs stated aren't good? Escapes to death? Because right now, players can pretty much choose their win condition, as a lot of it is just what the player believe they need to do to win. If that means sacrificing themselves to the killer, or protecting that sweet, sweet basement chest, then that's their win condition. Personally, I don't mind that as a player. I think it's fun like that. But the game isn't competitive. Sure, there's a competitive scene- but let's also remember that a lot of Tournaments for this game have different point systems and such because no one can agree with what the win conditions are for either side.

Honestly, I don't think the game should be considered competitive in the same vain as CS:GO, OW, or even SSBU. At the very least, not without some major changes for both killer and survivor- or a dedicated 'ranked' and 'casual' modes.

Here is the rub, I don't care how you treat the game for YOURSELF. I have no expectations of what you want from the game or how you choose to play it. Just because I'm competitive, doesn't mean I expect you to play my way. The only thing I ask is please don't grief, shame, or spend a lot of time trying to make me play YOUR way. It isn't going to happen anyway, so it is a waste of your time (and mine). You do you; I'll do me. I will always be polite pre-game and post game. I will do my best to be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. During the match, I'm going to play to win. I won't cheat, but I will avail myself of any tool in the tool box if I need it. I won't begrudge you yours either. You might curb-stomp me and I'm going to give you a GG. I will hopefully learn something from it.

  • @Enlyne said:

Then again, how are you not burnt out of this game? Playing to win what? I stress out my point, there's nothing that truly rewards you as much as other games, and in here nothing feels particularly rewarding, it turns to a chore.

I'm just not wired that way. If/when I burn out on a game, I move on to another one. Every match is different, a new challenge, so I don't really burn out here. Why? Every Killer is different, every team I pull is different. I haven't gotten bored here yet, because of the constantly changing variables. I see that as a GOOD thing. I understand not everyone is wired the same as me, and my advice to them is if they aren't having fun, find a game they do enjoy. Don't try to change other people (or the game) to match your preferences. Find game which is a good match for you.

  • @Enlyne said:

Man, I'm sorry but your examples for other games are very badly picked, DbD is nowhere near being competitive... it doesn't even reward people properly, the pip system is rather flawed, RNG based maps and composition breaks everything regarding the competitive side of this game, there's nothing.

So I don't know why you people insist so badly in taking this game so seriously? There's better ones to pick for that kind of mentality.

I take every game I play seriously. If I didn't, why would I play it? I play to win, and the competition is the fun for me. I'm just stating this so you understand my mindset.

    Now you're just projecting.

Yes, "sporting" is mostly subjective... but as for shaming people who don't play the way I consider to be sporting?? You read that in of your own volition.

The question for this thread was based on an entirely subjective question... why does anyone care about the other side. I've given my reasons that are personal to me. Where you then take that and project other meanings onto it, particularly for other people, is down to you and nothing to do with anything I said.

I didn't project, I asked you a question. Do you see the "?" mark? If you, personally, have a way that you define as "sportsmanlike" how are YOU defining people who do not play the way you do? I'm pointing out your rhetorical method has an implication. If YOUR way is the sportsmanlike way, what is left for the people who don't play that way? I'm not projecting, I'm asking you to clarify.

  • @PlaysByShady said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/discussion/comment/1625991#Comment_1625991

You're welcome to disagree with my opinion, but the point was the subjective perspective.

I like to play in a sporting manner... whether others choose to or not is not within my ability to control. The reason I care about the other side's fun is because I like to play in a sporting manner.

We will have to agree to disagree. The problem is that your "sporting manner" is a subjective mess that is defined entirely by you, and judging (and shaming) anyone who doesn't play how you would like them to be. By default, if they aren't playing by what you consider a "sporting" way then they are unsportsmanlike? Do you see the clear implication? This is that sneaky move the goalposts thing. Players are responsible for their own fun. This is a competitive PVP game where the rules are completely transparent. Those rules are what define what is sporting and not sporting... NOT you.

  • @PlaysByShady said:

Because I like to play with people, not against people (even though we may be on opposing sides during the game). I derive my enjoyment from having a good match with fair (as far as possible) odds of success... not by beating the other side with hacks, exploits, or gameplay that would be considered unsporting.

We agree on SOME of that but there is one glaring exception. I believe the following:

    1. Do not cheat, i.e. use hacks or lag spikes.
    2. Do not disconnect; if you start a game finish it.
    3. Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat, i.e. no salt.

Where we differ is that little bit about "unsporting" game play you snuck in at the end. That is total, and complete garbage because it is entirely subjective, i.e. the parodied Survivor's Rules for Killers that Samination makes fun of frequently. Everything that is within the rules is sporting, that's it.

  • @Xbob42 said:

I never made claims that it was about winning or losing, so claiming I'm moving goalposts is ridiculous. You want to make it all about how you "totally owned them and now they're salty" or whatever, but in my experience, in 99% of games it's all just "gg" at the end when it comes down to normal games with normal wins or losses. It is decidedly different end-game chat when someone's being a twat the whole time.

Yes, some people do get salty at losing, and most of the time I'd wager it's people like you, who are obsessed with winning like you're going to get prize money or something. People who aren't obsessed about winning generally don't care as much if they lose.

Methinks you missed the point. I pointed out there is NO prize money (not prizes at all). Thus, the game's fun is in the competition. We are here for the conflict, the struggle, the PVP. If someone doesn't like those things, this is the wrong game for them to be playing. There is no judgement in that statement. I'm bored to tears by World of Warcraft and Minecraft. Those are not the right games for me, and thus you will not find me there. I don't spend my time on their Forums complaining about the game they love, nor telling them how things SHOULD be. I was the odd man out, so I left to find games to which I'm more suited. Do you get my point?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/discussion/comment/1625888#Comment_1625888

You seem to be under the sorely mistaken assumption that people have a problem with losing. While some folks do take losing poorly, generally this subject is about people intentionally playing in such a way as to annoy or rob other players of fun. Flashlight clicking the entire match while teabagging isn't optimal play, facecamping someone for 4 minutes is not optimal play. Hiding around the map to force the killer to look for you when the gates are open just to waste time before you escape is not optimal play. Tunneling one guy while ignoring everyone else isn't optimal.

None of these are competitive plays, they're petty BS by children. These are the things that attempt to rob people of fun. Some folks are bothered by it, some aren't. But the intent is clear: you are playing only to ruin someone else's time.

You winning a match is not robbing someone of their fun, obviously some win and some lose. That's a completely different subject.

I think it is very much about winning and losing, and you are engaging in a rhetorical trick to move the goalposts. I'm all about good sportsmanship. I think tea-bagging and other obnoxious things are horrible; I've said so many times (and will again). We agree good sportsmanship should be that to which we all aspire.

That, however, is NOT what this thread is REALLY about. It is the same old song and dance of people trying to shame certain tactics, perks, behaviors, etc. in game because they find them difficult to play against. Don't try to confuse apples and oranges here. I will camp, tunnel, slug, and Mori if I believe it is the right tactical call at the time. Many new (or bad) Killers do these things incorrectly, not in optimal ways, but that doesn't change the fact that those are just tactics and none of my (or your) business. They gonna be them; we should just be us.

I've had people accuse me of camping when I was on the other side of the map. I've been accused of tunneling when I hooked every Survivor three times and none in consecutive order. I've been accused of it ALL, and usually without merit. I've also done all of those things and will again. Do you get my point? If you want to turn this Thread into a discussion of good sportsmanship, i.e. about salt, tea-bagging, etc. I'm all for it. But don't pretend that is what this thread is about right now.

  • @MrLimonka said:

This is the mindset that makes both sides run DS/Unbreakable/BT and Corrupt/Pop/Noed.

And then guess what? Both sides complain about the other, because they DON'T HAVE FUN themselves going against these meta builds.

Imagine how fun would it be to run some gimmicky perks and builds without the fear of losing miserably to the other side, just because you didn't bring the necessary meta perks. But I guess we shouldn't care about others' fun, right?

Ummm... no. There are no SIDES, nor does everyone complain. A vocal minority of people insist on complaining. The Fun House Mirror that is a Forum makes it look like the whole community. Most people don't complain or comment, and think doing so is a waste of time. I don't complain about Survivor or Killer Perks, or what they build, or what tactics they use. Why? None of my business. I have enough to do with worrying about myself. IMAGINE how fun it would be to come to this forum and read some posts that aren't full of whining, whinging, endless complaints, and blaming others for one's own failures.

No one is asking anyone to treat the other side like children: They're asking if people could treat others like they're all part of the same community (which we all are).

But here is the rub, there are NO SIDES. This is a game. Simply by being players we are a community and all on the same side. I play both Killer and Survivor. I know some people only play one or the other. The "sides" construct is a fake one, because those only exist INSIDE the match. The second we leave the match we are just Players, i.e. no sides.

I'm all for everyone being polite and friendly before and after matches. But during them, we play as hard as we can.

  • It doesn't matter to me if it is asymmetrical or not. It is a PVP game, i.e. head to head competition. There will be winners and there will be losers. Game balance isn't in my wheelhouse. That is up the DEV. My job is to play the game to the best of my ability, not to cheat, and to be polite and well-mannered before and after the game. That's it. I want you to have fun, but I am NOT responsible for your fun. That is your job.

  • I always want everyone to have fun, but I'm not responsible for anyone's fun or behavior but my own. You can bring a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. DbD is a competitive, full contact PVP game. The fun is in the competition. This isn't group therapy. We don't come here to share our feelings. Killers gonna kill and Survivors going to escape. That's it. If people don't enjoy adversity and competition, this is the WRONG game for them. I would say that most PVP games are WRONG for them.

We only get out of games what we put into them. If we are going to throw a fit or be upset when we lose, or something seemed to hard or unfair, then we do not have the temperament for a game like this. Sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes he eats you. I have fun even when the game is horrible and I'm getting curb-stomped. Of course I want to win. It goes without saying that nobody likes to lose. But the fun is in the competition, not the outcome. We don't win money or other REAL prizes, so the outcome of the game is meaningless. It is about the journey; it is about the fight.

I realize this may be an alien mindset to many of you who apparently started playing video games in this weird new world, but I assure you when PVP games first popped up we didn't spare a thought for this foolishness, nor did our opponents. You PLAY HARD. Don't cheat. Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. That's it. You make your own fun, or not.

Same. I want to learn more killers but I'm always put against red ranks who bully me the whole time. I'm rank 14 killer. I can't learn how to play the killer against people who are masters at countering it. I'm only good with legion, doctor and spirit, but that's because I was able to actually learn them. Now I'm put in matches that end in 2 minutes.

You will learn. I did. My goal last cycle (prior to recent reset) was to go from zero to hero with Michael Myers. I wanted to break into the Red Ranks as a Killer with him. I managed to get to Rank-4 just two days before the Reset. From the time I hit Green Rank I was playing against groups of Purple spotted with Red. By the time I hit Purple I fought MOSTLY if not all Red. It wasn't fair, but it did make me a better killer. You just can't let the adversity get to you. Embrace it. Own it. I would not have made it to Rank-4 if I hadn't been playing all those sharks.

It would be %$&!'n amazing to have a remotely fair match once in awhile. Not a killer who counters my build 1000%. Not a map offering counter. No ebony mori. Teammates that have a single f'n clue.

    Sure. Would. Be. Nice.

  • I've said it before, and I will say it again and again until eventually it happens merely because there is no other logistical solution that will work. There needs to be three types of games, Solo, Group/Team, and Custom.

    1. Solo Que allows no more than two people to enter the Lobby as friends. No identifying information of any kind is shown until the end of the match to prevent setting up communications on the fly. That's it.
    2. Group/Team may enter their Ques with either 3-4 people in a team. They require one additional Generator to power the gates, and the Killer gets a 5th Perk unlocked. Thus, a 3-Person Team needs (5) Generators, and a 4-Person team needs (6) Generators. Having Group/Team as their own Que allows the DEV to balance and tweak for just this situation, without affecting the Solos. It could be my suggested balancing agents are too strong, or too weak. What is important is that the situation can be addressed without creating a logistical nightmare for Solos. Killers will not duck this Que when it is balanced.
    3. Custom Games: They stay the same way they are now.

*There you go, problem solved. Two out of three of these games lets people play alongside their friends (Custom and Group/Team). One of them even allows them to play with one other friend in Solo (not so much of a balance issue).

Ahh yeah, that's a good point. I have been noticing a lot more tunneling lately.

It is an unintended consequence of DS. Killers have figured out they would rather trigger the DS early in the match when it causes less damage than later. A stun early is no worse than a Pallet. A stun toward the end or during the EGC is the difference between an entire squad getting away. I find I tunnel much more early game now just to trigger it and get it over with, than I do later. :)

Survivors: "I Can't hear the terror radius and know the killer is coming from a mile away!!! I have to actually pay attention to my surroundings and play with skill!! That's Not Fair!"

Killer: "Welcome to my world babies"

Devs: "OK OK survivors please stop sending us messages and hate mail, we'll turn it back on. AND make it even easier for you to hear them coming from further away. Happy? Cuz we can't handle your constant complaining, but you make up 4-1 of our players so we have to please you."

Survivors: "Yes, and also add more pallets and easier loops. And ban Killers who camp and tunnel, cuz that also isn't fair to us. Cuz if we don't get to gen rush, then loop, then teabag, then escape...then this is Not Fair!"

Killers: 🙄 "Guess I gotta play with Nurse......Again."

Um. This was not productive. The Survivors were 100% correct to let the DEV know that the Terror Radius was not functioning correctly. Some of them worded their notification poorly, but that doesn't justify you making an equal jerk of yourself with this nonsense. I really wish people would exercise the same courtesy virtually as they do in the real world.

i had a 3 gen around basement so it would have been detrimental to me to leave

    Oh, that is a different story! I wouldn't leave a 3-Gen either! :)

  • Well, for my own part, I rarely work with the Basement as Myers unless I'm playing Spooky Myers. The basement for all my other Myer's builds is just IF it happens to be convenient and I don't really hang out there after hooking. I've got Insta-Down Tier-3 and I'm burning the clock. :) I'd rather be out hunting. I think it is a wasteful to be a Basement King with Myers 90% of the time.

With Spooky Myers, however, I camp from near the Basement rather than in it. I want them to see me leave. They rarely know I can see ALL of them if they are already nearby or as they approach. I like to time getting to them right as they start the unhook and grab them. The most I've ever gotten this way is (3) in the Basement at one time, i.e. the original and then two grabs. My personal goal is all four.

  • I commented on this earlier, and I guess I'm going to comment again. All anyone has to do to play "fair" is:

    1. Do not use hacks or lag spikes.
    2. Do not disconnect; if you start a game finish it.
    3. Do not abuse a bug or exploit.

*That's it. Ideally, I would add 4. Be humble in victory, and gracious in defeat, but those have nothing to do with fairness. They are simply good sportsmanship and common courtesy. Disregard anyone who tells you there is a list of unofficial rules you have to follow; you don't. Ignore anyone calling you toxic because it means NOTHING nowadays. People abusing the term has made it meaningless. Play hard, don't cheat, be polite. That is all you have to do.

  • It was kind of a crutch, because it can make targets stand out. I suspect they decided Insta-Down, super lunge, and fast vault didn't need a spotter too. :)

  • Nope, once in Tier-3, Myers cannot Stalk.

  • @oxygen said:

For me my "niceness" is just a natural side effect of me playing how I personally want to play. I just want to chase people as that's what I find the most fun, and it's kinda hard to camp or tunnel someone while I'm chasing someone far away from the hook. Sure I could win more often and "harder" by playing differently, but I have more fun playing my way and that's what I'm personally looking for from DBD. I don't blame anyone else for playing how they want, and I expect nothing more or less in return.

Play however you want, just don't cheat or be a hypocrite. Anyone that plays "hard" to win and then starts crying when their opponent(s) do the same are pathetic and saying they get no sympathy from me is an understatement.

Exactly. Play Hard is fine as long you aren't a hypocrite about it when they do the same.

  • You would have to define what "fair play" means. It is a worthless, subjective term. I PLAY HARD. I will camp, tunnel, slug, or Mori if those tactics are appropriate. In general, they are special use tools that only work well in certain situations. I am always playing to win. I don't complain about them doing the same. I try to be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. I don't hack or use lag spikes. If I start a game, I finish it. I think that is fair.

Sometimes I will let Survivors go, but like all things, it depends on my mood and whether it will cost me a Pip. We all know the rules. We all know the game. The only thing that FAIR means to me is: Don't Cheat.

  • Then End Game Collapse is supposed to END the game. Getting the gates to 99% and not opening it is an artificial extension of the game. At least give the Killer the ability to juice it back down. ;)

  • Tough call. I don't think I have just one because there are so many sub-groupings. In recent years, I think Oculus and The Descent are damn good scary films. Jaws, Watership Down (I know... weird choice right), and Halloween are up there too.

  • I don't know about removing it, but I would like to see it regress at a decent speed.

truly thats the only place for a mori, but if i wanted that i would just run tombstone and just pop it on someone. Keys are just like why, why do they open hatch without any way to stop them, IE grabbing o]

Yeah, but let's be honest here... IF they nuke the Mori... do you REALLY think they are going to let Myers keep his?

im against both moris are just boring and keys are free escapes

We can agree to disagree. Me, I think the Mori is important to deal with SWF. Until that problem is dealt with, I'd rather have the Mori and Keys. Until the 5th Perk (Comms) ceases to be an issue, my best option is to turn them into a 3v1 just to level the playing field. :) So, if the odd person gets out with Keys, but I keep one of the FEW options I have to deal with the outside of the game communications, I'm down with that. But I do respect your opinion.

None of those perks stop you from getting rushed by bots. Undying does nothing, Ruin is negated by holding M1, and Tinkerer only tells you you're about to lose a gen. Start of the match, 2-3 gens could proc Tinkerer, how does that help you avoid being rushed?

Anyways OP, every killer gets rushed, it's pathetic out there right now. Run Discordance for a day, see how many times it procs twice at the start of the match on gens at opposite ends of the map. It's ridiculous.

Blight can cross a map so quickly that knowing you are about to lose a Gen lets you get on top of it before it goes. Look, we have all been dealing with the Gen-Rush for a LONG time. I deal with it as Myers, who is a slow burn as opposed to starting as a speed demon. If Undying+Ruin+Thrill of the Hunt +4th Perk slows them down enough for me, I'm sure it does for you too.

It isn't as if the Survivors are going, "Gosh darn it... Jeepers... it is Blight so I guess we better Gen-Rush." Survivors Gen-Rush on general principle. Again, if it slows them down enough for me, I'm sure you can manage.

  • I'm fine with Keys and the Mori. Spice of life.
