I mainly just play killer rounds for fun, as I've said before. Lately, I've been getting low rank survivors who t-bag on the way out after I've given them an easy game (as if they've really gotten something over on me by escaping). Then get thanked for it by them t-bagging on their way out. Never during the actual match, always as they're going out the door.
My point is this: Don't t-bag a killer that has literally given you a free escape. Killer mains, I can completely understand why some of you go sweaty as all hell. I don't like it but I now completely understand it. Not to mention, it makes you look super f'ing stupid when you are doing it to a killer who has played the game honorably because they can tell you do not yet have any skill at the game. Just don't.
Don't give them easy games; don't feed the bears. You aren't doing them any favors, and clearly they don't understand (or appreciate) your gesture. Play Hard, even when playing for fun. You will make them into better Survivors. I never go easy on anyone. If I decide to let someone go, I try to make it clear. I down them, and then carry them to the hatch or the gate. I want them to KNOW so they don't get the idea that their bad play was good play. Does that make sense?
-
The simple truth is we are NOT RESPONSIBLE for ensuring the fun of other Players. We aren't even capable of that feat. People get out of games, like anything else, what they put into them. This is a full contact, PVP game wherein one side (Serial Killers) are trying to eliminate the other side (Victims who want to be Survivors). We should all, both sides, play HARD. Do everything you can to win within the rules. The only things you should not do are:
- Don't hack or use lag switches.
- Don't disconnect during a game; if you start it, finish it.
- Don't be a jerk, i.e. be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.
This is a competitive game, and that is where the fun comes in. People who do not enjoy the competition, and who throw tantrums or get upset when they don't win, should probably find another hobby. Sometimes you eat the bear, and sometimes he eats you. Win or lose, no matter how badly, should not impact your enjoyment.
-
Of course it is disrespectful; salty Players clearly intend to be obnoxious when they let us taste their delicious salty tears. It is disrespectful to do anything other than be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. Good sportsmanship, on the internet, is much rarer than in real world (more is the pity). I think people should treat virtual interactions with the same manners they outside of it.

The points system for survivors currently rewards unsafe hook removals. For an action that takes a very short time to complete you get 1000 points plus you likely get away without even taking a hit. It doesn't matter that you willingly threw another survivor under the bus. If they happen to go a few seconds without getting hit you even get rewarded with another 500 points.
Hook removals should get less points. I would say 500. A safe hook removal should get the extra 1000. I would even go so far as to say that an unsafe hook removal should receive a 250 point penalty. If survivors only got 250 points for an unsafe hook removal it would make hook removal something that is looked at strategically instead of an easy point grab that screws over the person you are unhooking.
It is an interesting notion, but it is kind of already covered. I think you only get points/credit if it is a "safe rescue," i.e. they have to not be downed again within a certain amount of time. I would go further to say you shouldn't get points/credit unless neither the hooked or the unhooker is downed within said amount of time.

Nope. You said whenever they feel like it's tactically wise. I'm saying it's perfectly justified even when they just feel like camping, knowing it's not tactically wise.
Yeah... WHENEVER the Killer feels it is tactically wise, which is exactly the same as whenever the Killer decides to do it. Whether it is a good call or not is only known after the game is over.

Actually - justified camping is any time the killer camps. There is no rule book. They can do what they want. Their job is to murder survivors. Therefore, if they choose camping to get the job done, it's justified.
Isn't that what I just said? :)

plural noun: esports
- a multiplayer video game played competitively for spectators, typically by professional gamers.
I'll let Google explain it for you. I think I'm going to believe dictionary definition instead of some random internet guy.
It just sounds to me like you are trying to avoid taking responsibility for selfish behavior. You be you I guess.

I don't think undying is such a high issue. Who runs ruin? Low mobility / pressure killer do not really benefit from ruin, where high pressure killers are much stronger now. It's better to combine it with devour on low pressure.
I run it in pretty much every game. I know many Killers that do.

Ok, let me try once again because it looks like you are still not getting it...
One can not be poor sport while not playing sport.
Hope that's clear now. Everything else you say is irrelevant because we are talking about video game, not sport.
Except that this is a sport, a full contact sport albeit virtually. What makes you feel otherwise? Tennis is a game, but it is also a sport. People pay for Tennis lessons, that doesn't make it any less a sport. So yes, if other Players are counting on you completing the match, it is bad form to disconnect, i.e. a bad sport. If you don't want to actually play the game, find another one. Selfish behavior here tends to correlate to selfish behavior in the real world.

I'm confused.
The short answer is they shouldn't need it; they are wasting a Perk Slot. By the end of the game, one would assume they will have reached Tier-3 and have Insta-Down already. However, I suppose if they are a new Shape Killer, and have trouble Stalking up, perhaps they are hedging their bets.

Justified camping is after all 5 gens are finished. making sure a survivors goes into stage 2 if they're really close isn't camping either imo
Justified camping is whenever the Killer feels it is tactically wise. They are not bots. They have agency, and just like you desire to make their own choices. The only thing that proves the value of the camping is the end results, i.e. did the tactic produce a winning game. In short, they don't have to justify their choices to you or anyone else. You don't have to justify what Perks you take or the choices you make in game either.
In short, you do you and let other Players (Killer and Survivor alike) do them.

That's not really relevant to my question. I wasn't asking about willingly giving items. I was asking what would people do if someone stole their item that wanted to keep, while BMing in their face about it.
I'd move on in the match. I'd remember the person, sure and if I could make sure at some later point that they paid for it without screwing over other Survivor teammates or hurting a match, I would. But the odds of that are low. Rarely do you have a chance to give just punishments to a teammate when you NEED them to get out alive.

@brokedownpalace said:
That's not what a nerf is lol
True but it is an indirect consequence that does factor into whether the Perk ever activates. It is easier to call ti a Nerf, but you are right it would be more correct to call it a new "Liability" or a "Risk Factor."
-
Of course, it is generally newer Killers that rely on NOED, so chances are newer Survivors won't all have Undying+Ruin (or whatever) right away. For the newbies, things will change very little. NOED doesn't get near as much play anyway once Killers start to improve in Rank.
-
@Auron471 said:
survivors will be cleansing totems like crazy with undying in the game, which will make them better at knowing where totems spawn. Thus noed is less likely to get any value, or even activate.
Absolutely. It is a natural consequence of Undying being combined with other potent Hexes, like say "Ruin." Totems will need to be cleansed to get generators running, and thus, dull Totems will no longer be ignored. The chances that Noed will never activate are substantial against a good team of Survivors.
-
As a Killer, I could care less what the Survivors do to each other, so I'm not getting involved in their squabbles. If another Survivor picked it up I'm likely to knock it out of their hand too so I can use it as bait. I may just Mori whomever is holding a Key at a location on the map that I think will keep another Survivor from finding it. Again, the Players can screw each other over all they want; it is not my business.
If I am a Survivor and somebody else picks up my Key, I'm going to go "RATS!" but not take it personal. Dem's the breaks. It seems a kind of silly thing to get caught up in when a game is so short and I have Generators to get online now that my plan b has been grabbed by someone else. Life is too short.

@steezo_de said:
I don't know if this was mentioned in a stream or post, so I'm curious if this is what they meant or if there's something else coming.
It is designed to protect OTHER Hexes, and give the Killer some information on Survivors who pass close to a Totem. Whether or not it slows down the Gen-Rush (what you call an early game Stall) depends on what other Hexes are taken. If Ruin is in the mix, it will absolutely increase the odds that the match will go longer. But it can be combined with lots of other Hexes instead (or also) which would entirely change what phase of the game it affects most.

A lot of people say that flashlights are one of the worst items you could bring in a trial.So...do you think if they deafen the killer it would be worth to bring them?
No, why would it? Being blinded doesn't deafen anyone. That would be a Flashbang item. If Flashlights have a problem it is either they are difficult to aim, or people simply aren't spending the time to practice and learn how to aim them. Perhaps a tutorial added for aiming and use of the items. But deafness? No.

The long cooldown is balanced, but a 60-second exposed status (for simply touching a regressing generator) is quite long as well. So say a survivor were to get immediately downed by this perk, perhaps unknowingly that the killer had it; hooked; then healed at the hook.. they get to be punished by it again? Doesn't seem right to me. I'm open to hearing other input though.
That is a valid concern but I don't think it is going to happen enough to actually require a Nerf. The Survivor gets exposed, then the Killer has to down them (takes time), then must get them to the hook (takes time) and then someone has to get them off the hook (takes time). For all of that to happen under sixty seconds and still leave enough time for the Killer to hit them again, that seems very unlikely. Moreover, if that actually happens it means the Survivor has played very poorly and been farmed.
-
@GoshJosh said:
My only qualm with this perk is that the exposed status remains even after the exposed survivor is downed. It should immediately be taken away upon either downing or hooking a survivor. It's served its purpose up to that point.
Really? You don't think it has enough balancing it already with a long cool down and the fact that being exposed doesn't mean being hit? I think it is just fine as it is now, or at the very least it deserves a least a full month of play in the general population before we can really give good feedback or suggestions.

This has happened to me a lot more than you'd think over the past couple days, at least for me maybe I'm unlucky, but ever since crossplay has been added camping has become much more prevalent in my games, and basement just ######### me over if im not in a full swf and my teammates might not be the best and the killer will never leave the area.
You haven't been very civil to anyone in this thread, so I'm probably hitting my head against a brick wall here in trying. You said it yourself: "This has happened to ME a lot more than you'd think" and "maybe I'm unlucky." Even your own choice of language indicates that on some level you know this is an aberration, a statistical outlier. In my most recent grind to a million points, I recall being in the basement maybe a couple of times? I didn't die in any of them. So yes, I think you had some bad luck. You've told us you are a Red Rank Survivor. You didn't get there without having resolved your basement issues long ago. Remind yourself of that, and accept that it is what you think, i.e. you have just been unlucky.
You also indicate that you are used to playing with a SWF part of the time, and yeah you are going to have a lot fewer problems taking on a Basement Killer with that kind of supernatural coordination. So perhaps you are just adapting to the culture shock of playing more solo again? Who knows? I think your anger and passion over this issue is clouding your judgement and affecting your manners. I strongly suggest you take a step back and reflect a bit more. At the very least, you should have enough self awareness to understand how you are coming across to everyone who is reading this thread, and that it is damaging your credibility.

@BangBang said:
People think this perk is ok are completely out of their mind.
Making the other hex jumping around is strong enough, but it can let you see survivors when they are around totems on top of that?
It has to be either one.
Nope, it is fine. I guess that means I'm out of my mind? This is the phase where people get adjusted to the new META. Even though everyone knew this was coming, everyone knew what the Perk was going to do, and many people play tested it, the majority were in denial. I can't tell you how many times over the last two weeks I stressed to Players that things are changing get ready to do Bones, only to get told off, accused of giving bad advice, and so on. Well, the day is here. Within two weeks people will have adapted and it won't seem that bad.
The Perk is fine. It does exactly what it was designed to do, i.e. protect other hexes and allow the Killer to apply pressure. This indirectly slows down the Gen-Rush as Ruin is one of the most commonly taken Hexes.

-
Dead Hard isn't that easy to time against the Blight.
-
The Perk is fine. It does precisely what it was designed to do, i.e. make Totems an objective of importance that Survivors must take into account to win their games. Right now many Survivor's are reeling only because they are in the adjustment phase. In a month, they will adapted and there will be an equilibrium. The new reality is Survivors cannot ignore Totems; that is a good thing.
-
I can say that Undying has been the best thing to happen to my Michael Myers since I started my drive to get him into the Red Ranks. I got those Blight Perks unlocked for him today, and I now have the time to either juice up to Tier-3 or put pressure as Spooky Myers every game I play. Of course, I went all in on the Hexes.
Hex: Ruin
Hex: Thrill of the Hunt
Hex: Undying
*4th Perk has been varying as I try out a variety of stuff (non-Hex).
*It suffices to say that I've never felt this relaxed in the first third of the game. Instead of playing from behind the Eight Ball, I can pick and choose my battles. It is very freeing.

One thing that I see a lot of posts saying is that this game will never be in a true state of balance, and yes, I can agree. BUT what I'm going to try and explore here is not at all that the devs are incompetent, but rather that what we have here in Dead by Daylight are two completely SEPARATE GAMES that are technically being forced to work side by side. I'll give you a brief run-down on what I have observed with playing both sides and see if we can all see why both sides will never be satisfied.
SURVIVOR:
- 3rd person Survival Horror.
- More team focused, rather than individual skill. I can run a killer for 3 minutes with no objectives complete or they can be done before a 30 second chase is over.
- Based highly on the information given and how the player acts upon it.
- No difference between Survivor playstyles across characters, outside of very minute points such as skin selection, character models size and character noises
- Two objectives: Complete objective A, or find objective B after team fails.
KILLER:
- First person HUNTING SIMULATOR.
- All about the individual, and their skill within a match. And yes, processing information is a part of that, but the bigger part of killer comes from on the fly decisions and skill in a chase.
- 20+ unique playstyles BEFORE you add perks, or add-ons.
- ONE over-arching objective with secondary objective: Kill all survivors (eventually!) and protect generators (secondary, but to me more important than soooo many other killers think)
Now you combine these two together, and the difficulty in balancing is already apparent. You have two different games, trying to complete against each other to complete totally different objectives within a match. This is part of why my mentality as killer is NOT to just kill survivors, but to STOP THEM from doing theirs.
You then also have the division of the Killer playerbase with having so many unique killers and their own set of problems. Even in the example of the "Stealth" killer family, you have people arguing that Ghostface is a better version of Pig, and that Wraith is possibly the worst killer in the game. THEN they go and argue with Survivors about which side has it worse.
Add the fact that there are people who either A) do not play the other side or B) may play a game for daily rituals but ultimately don't even care about them. This further divides the community and the game's direction because you now have people who argue against a side THEY DON'T EVEN PLAY.
This game isn't just Survivor vs. Killer. Or Community vs. Devs. It's Survivors vs. Trapper vs. Wraith vs. Hillbilly, ect. vs. Devs. And that's before we add the issue of ranks or time played.
bHVR are also just trying to keep the peace as we tear at each other's throats over issues that we ourselves have caused! "Second Chance Meta this", "Camping, Tunnelling and Slugging that". Guess what, both sides forced this upon each other. It's not the devs fault.
The sooner that we all just remember or realise that this is a game that very few of us are making a living off, and playing because we LIKE TO PLAY THE GAME, the better off and happier a community we will be.
Now, if you excuse me, I'm off to scream into the void for another 8 hours.
I'll see you in the Fog.
I think it boils down to the fact that people should stop whining and whinging. They should play the game or find another one if they are really that unhappy with this one. Personally, I think they are full of it. If I was unhappy, I'd be gone. There are so many games out there today that it is crazy to spend long hours playing something you seem to spend an equal amount of time complaining about.
The problem is this Forum and the after game chatter skews the perspective and makes it seem like everyone is unhappy. I don't think so. I think a vocal, trollish minority is giving us a fun-house mirror view of things. I play with people every day and MOST of my games end with GG or something more. The number of salty types has continued to diminish in my after game. The worst people I see now are here on the forum. Endless complaints. The Blight has been out a day or so and we have so many people saying what is wrong with him. I'm like, seriously? Why don't you guys actually try him out for a month before you opine in with your judgement (that we didn't ask for).
I don't blame Killers or Survivors for playing the game. I certainly don't spend my time lamenting the DEV. I almost think they would be better off closing this Forum entirely. I'm not sure it serves any positive purpose whatsoever.

Do you even know what you're arguing? Lol, because you have like, changed your argument in every reply.
I'm know exactly what I'm arguing. I'm saying Bad Killers (and by definition a Face Camper is one) are the best kind of Killer to practice against. Never again will any new Player, after moving away from those early Ranks where the Face Campers are numerous, have such utter garbage to practice against. I just don't think new Players benefit from being taught only to Gen-Rush.

You obviously don't play survivor at all, because everything you're saying makes no sense against a face camper.
No one is going to learn/practice looping skills against a face camper because face campers don't interact with anyone. They catch one person and they sit in one spot and they down the person again when you take them off hook. There's nothing else you can do about it. The literal only thing you can do is do gens and move on and hope for a less ######### killer in your next match.
I do play Survivor; just did a grind for a million BP so I could take Blight to forty and unlock his Perks for my Mikey in fact. Again, you are missing the point I'm making. When the Face Camper's first victim sac's out he will finally start looking for another one. By that time they will have a lot of Generators up, probably some Totems cleansed, and there will be some chases. The Killer probably will down another one and repeat the same behavior. Early games are practice game to learn Skills, ALL of the different Skills. Skill Checks are mastered within three games. Chases, vaults, looping, and so on takes a LOT more work and is very important. I'm just not sure why you would advise people NOT to try and get practice in against what is clearly a BAD Killer.

Yes, camping is a part of the game, but it is unfun, unskillful, and toxic. Sure, I called you stupid, because I think your opinion that it is not toxic is stupid. Just being honest :)
I beg to differ. This is a full contact sport, albeit virtually. You play HARD. The fun is in the competition, giving it all you got. Sometimes you eat the bear, and sometimes he eats you. You didn't call "me" stupid by the way; that was the other guy. Or had you intended to and forgot? If you can't handle the heat, get out of the fire. To quote Roadhouse, "there is always Barber College." Killers do camp, from the best to the worst. Camping successfully, so that you don't give away the game does take Skill. I'll have you know that Basement Party ended with no Salt from them. We all said good game, and exchanged the odd compliment. If they can take that in good grace, so can you. Earlier today I played Infinite Tier-3 Myers using Undying, Ruin, Thrill of the Hunt and Bitter Murmur. I got a 3K in a very long, hard fought game. One guy took the hatch. All of us took it in good grace. I just lost with Spooky Myers (only got one kill but didn't lose a pip) fighting at the Temple of Purge... and they curb stomped me good. I learned a lot. I didn't complain about the tricksy Head On stuff they were doing in excellent, coordinated team play. Why would I? I've heard people say that is toxic too. Me, I thought it was brilliant. Are you feeling me yet?

... No, because if you wander around doing totems instead of gens when someone is being camped, then the camper is just going to find someone else to camp because you handed him a bunch of free time instead of gen rushing. Do you not play survivor at all? Lol.
Yeah, I do. But we aren't talking about a normal camper here. We are talking about a FACE camper who is going to sit there until that person sacs out. And new Players do need to practice looping Skills. Practicing how to make Skill Checks for Generators only goes so far. You know that and I know that. They might as well practice against some bad Killer and get some time in. I'm not saying they should suicide. I'm saying new Players need to hone some other Skills. If they want to get out as fast as possible, doing nothing but Generators against a Face Camper will do that. They will get NOTHING else out of it.
-
KereDog, you need to work on your people skills. Hell, I need to do that too. :) A Survivor of your Rank already knows the advice I gave. And if you got to where you are now, you also know that camping is just part of the game. Nothing inside the game, within the rules, is so-called Toxic. Survivors want to survive. Killers want to kill. I've gotten a whole group down in the basement with a Spooky Myers before. Altruistic bunch... and they would see me leave... and assume I wasn't camping the basement because I was a good ways away. Spooky can see them. I can time my descent so that I can grab them out of the unhook. I did that three times in a row. It is just how the game is played. What they should have done is gotten me into a chase (Spooky is slow) and made SURE I was further away.
Bad behavior is salt before and after a game. It is calling people stupid because they disagree with you. You are passionate about the subject. Everyone is passionate about their personal pet peeve. Humble in victory, gracious in defeat. These are words to live by. Stay away the basement. Problem solved.

Skills have nothing to do with it, unless you're running specific perks, you can't do anything about early/mid game face camping & it's boring as hell.
No but spotting and cleansing Totems is easy Blood Points, a separate emblem. It is a good habit to pick up, particularly if you have a camping idiot who gives you free time. It is like leaving money on the table. That and they will NEED to have a habit of doing Bones as soon as they leave the potato ranks. To me it is a good habit to practice.

So stupid, once you get someone hooked in basement if you proxy and the survivors dont have bt then they're pretty much screwed. And if you get 2 in basement the games over pretty much. Seriously the amount of games I've lost due to basement is ridiculous, it enables camping for killers and is overall just pretty unfair for survivors.
You are clearly new, and that is fine. The basement is the Killer's home turf, probably their strongest part of the map. It is even worse when there is a great 3-Gen around it. Is it broken or OP? No. I assure you that Survivors get people out of the Basement all the time. But if you are having a problem with the basement, the first key is to stay away from it. Identify where the basement is early, and if you can get the Gen near it at the start (the Killer will have spawned on the opposite side). Then you don't have any reason to go over there at all, ever. Do you follow? Basements are opportunities too. There is a chest down there. It can be a great place to hide and heal since the Killer doesn't often go down there without a reason. Some Survivors see someone being downed "near" the basement and get down there first and go into a locker. The second the Killer is out they are making the save.
Yes, multiple Survivors on hooks in the basement at the same time is a terrible thing, but people play through it every day. You will too.

no wonder, its a bad perk but yeah its the best we've got lately
I think it is too early to call it a bad Perk. I think it is a niche Perk. I think with the right Killers it can go a long way toward solving certain issues. I also think it gets more powerful toward the end game. I'm always going for a Generator Lock, i.e. a 3-Gen strategy. Dragon's Touch isn't going to have a huge effect early game, but when you are down to the last three Generators, the ability to suddenly expose someone when the remaining Survivors are trying to tag team you back and forth.... well... I've already used it that way and it was VERY effective.

You happen to be very narrow minded in regards of geographic distribution of face campers. I you're playing in the US - sure, you might be lucky and not encounter many face campers. If you're playing in EUW - welcome to 5 different killers within 20 matches when playing on non-weekends. And 2 of them being face campers destroys the whole game. There's even that "Block" feature since 4.x.0, but hmm I block some killer and magically he's there again and again. ALWAYS face camping. Just because I'm good at looping and he can't counter it until I run out of options he can give me -1 if he wants to.
And in comparison: Survivors body blocking is a bannable offense as opposed to nice face camping. The effect is as bad with face camping.
Interesting. I wasn't aware that other countries had different policies. I thought we were all under the same rules. Even so, camping (however you want to define it) has been around since the game was released and it will be here till the game finally shuts down. I'm simply pragmatic about it. On any given day we probably get 1-2 threads added where someone suggests how Camping, Tunneling, and Slugging can be fixed. The answer from the DEV is always the same, i.e. they aren't broken.
-
Again, nothing needs to be nerfed or buffed a few days in. Play for a month, then proceed to levy your judgement. This is ridiculous.

Hex: Ruin
Hex: Undying
Dragon's Touch
Play With Your Food
*I've also used a variation where I drop PWYF and use Hex: Thrill of the Hunt too. It also worked well.
Spooky Myers needs the Insta-Down on the larger maps (where you don't have the offering or someone counters it). You can kick the Generator and move off and still be camping that Gen due to the Wall Hack. The ability to down a Survivor with one hit, is a huge pressure builder, or at least it was for me.

It's not a hex, though
Doh. Right you are. I confused it with the Perk that locks down pallets. I need more caffeine and to reread my posts before hitting that final button. The other half is true though. I got good use out of it with Spooky Myers.

Ye preventing dodging killers that use broken mechanics to win and that are not fun to play and in the same time allowing them to play trash and to give a really bad experience days after days to survivors without any sanction...
I don't understand this, developpers who claim to be benevolent and progressists, but tend to favor trash ppl to play the game.
"Ye go on, you want to destroy survivors evening, go on, you are free to do it".
The problem is real, in red ranks, games after games it's terrible. I'm forcing myself to play more and more killer to give a decent experience to survivors. I'm trying to never tunnel or camp.
Good for you. I like the idea of Santa Killer out there. I do believe in Santa. Of course, I don't know what you are talking about. I play against Red Rank Killers and Survivors, and I haven't run into a Face Camper since I left the Green Ranks. It suffices to say I don't think you are being that honest with us. But I suppose it is possible. Random games and infinite variety being what it is... that perhaps you vary from the experiences of myself and MOST people I know.
-
I've had the opposite experience, but it may be a Perk that is more value to certain Killers. I do think the cool down needs to go away, or it shouldn't be a Hex, one or the other. Even so, I do find it useful.

That's the basic principle. If you're standing there and another surv approaches, you're still camping there.
And as I said. You can stand there for like 10-20 secs. But if you're standing there longer you're absolutely face camping. That's still valid for my suggested approach.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1610385#Comment_1610385
Yeah that's another solution, yet they stopped any approach that aimed to disadvantage campers by remembering them and letting others know so they could dodge them. Which would also suffice IMO. Of course, very skilled killers could falsely be dodged then but then that should not occur because the matchmaking should ensure only matching players are facing each other.
Again, your suggestion (sorry to say) is a waste of time. They will not be doing anything so drastic. They MIGHT increase the point penalty to campers, but that is it. That is because Killers are Players too and they have agency. Just like you, they get to make choices in their personal style (right or wrong). Nobody wants to be reduced to a Bot. The sooner you accept that Face Camping is a necessary evil to the virtual world, and will take care of itself, the happier you will be.

Face camping is NOT subjective as you can tell the condition to determine face camping is given by the simple continuous proximity check.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1610317#Comment_1610317
Second chances?
*Match starts*. Survivor 1 loops the killer for 1-2mins. He's eventually caught. Bubba classic case: He hooks the poor soul and stands right in front of him until he dies. The same procedure will happen almost always for at least 1 more survivor. What's fun about this? Nothing. What can you do against this other than doing gens (wow what a fun game)? Nothing.
Actually it is subjective because you don't REALLY know why they are still there. You assume, but you don't know. Sometimes the Killer can see the other Survivors RIGHT THERE and they are trying to do you a favor. Your idiot team mates seem intent on FARMING you to me. If I walk away even a few meters they run out and obligate me to then down you both. If I face camp for a short bit they leave. Then I can move on.

If you’re in a game where you feel you aren’t going to enjoy, is one hooking yourself really that bad? Because why waste your time playing a match you don’t find enjoyable instead of disconnecting and getting a ban I just one hook myself and move on to the next hoping I can get a better lobby or killer I really want to play against
Yes, I feel it is bad. You are doing a disservice to the other Survivors (primarily), and to the Killer too (although indirectly). If you start a game, play it to your best and try to win. Disconnects are worse than suicide on the hook, but they amount to the same thing, you are leaving the other Survivors a person down and denying them the potential points they would have earned saving you.

HOW ABOUT: There's a timer that activates upon killer standing in a 5m radius from the hook after 10 seconds. Then if the killer continues to face camp, the hook will (at least has a chance to) break and the survivor comes free. The hook also stays "sabotaged" for 20-30 seconds so the survivor has a chance to wiggle free (whether the wiggle progression is carried over or not can be discussed).
Face camping is the worst experience for all the players, especially the hooked surv, and ruins whole sessions. Please do something against this apart from describing it as "bad strategy". Many many killers at rank 1-2 still do this all the time and I wonder how they can progress with that "bad strategy".
It won't happen. At the most, they might increase the point penalty Killers have for staying by the hook. The sooner people accept that, they happier they will be. The energy spent on trying to "solve" Face Camping is just wasted. Camping (particularly face camping) is entirely subjective. Nobody likes it. I've had it happen to me many times. It shall pass. You take one for the team.

He does, but still - it's much easier to down someone with NOED. And the 4% speed boost also helps
True that. I don't usually run into them taking NOED in my own personal experience. I usually run into them taking Nurse's Calling and camping close but just far enough to allow the escape and then trigger a tantrum to get two down the second they pick up the healing.

Proxy camping? It's acceptable if there are gens nearby or the killer knows survivors are in the vicinity.
Facecamping? No, never OK. And people who say "iTs a VAliD sTRaTEgy" are simply wrong. It was never intended to be a strategy, because the emblem system punishes it. You lose points for doing that - but its a small penalty and facecamping killers probably don't care about that - its not penalized enough.
A facecamping bubba is almost guaranteed 2 kills if he runs NOED. If someone is less experienced or plays in solo queue, then they probably will try to save the hooked person instead of doing generators and that in turn gives bubbas an easy 4k.
Bubba doesn't need Noed. :) They have Insta-Down built in.

Sorry my direct, no bs response upset you.
3 survivors running around cleansing totems. Let's say I get two of them and one is a Hex. That's 2500 extra points. I also just gave the killer more time to find and face camp me, causing me to lose out of my 5000 escape bp. So I just lost 2500 points because I stayed to cleanse totems.
Why do you assume you won't get out? I never assume that. You get points for all sorts of things. I said you do you; I just feel you are going to find out real quick that just trying to get out the door as fast as possible isn't a strategy that will work when you leave Bad Killers behind. You will be facing Killers that do GOOD Patrols, Killers that have abilities that let them find you, Killers that slow the Gen-Rush down painfully using those Totems you seem to disdain cleaning, and all sorts of other things I'm too tired to go into right now.
I made a suggestion, i.e. take advantage of bad Killers (and Face Campers are bad Killers) to hone skills and pick up good habits. Use that time to earn extra blood points. You will need those other Skills soon enough. Or you can do it the hard way; it is no skin off my nose. :)

I'm a red rank survivor--if someone is face camping I want to just get out of the match because it's boring and there's nothing to be done about it & I don't want to feed a face camper with more points.
True but you are Red Rank, as you say. You don't have anymore skills to hone. The new people do.

Then again, I say this is bad advice, especially for an inexperienced survivor. Do the gens and get out of the match.
If the killer is face camping because they are inexperienced, they will only get 1 to 2 kills and will learn the strategy doesn't work well. That is the reason it is less prevalent at higher ranks because experienced survivors do the gens and leave. Or they are good enough to pull off borrowed time, ds saves.
If they are doing it to be toxic, they will only be able to do it to 1 or 2 players each match they attempt it. The more time you waste in the match trying to earn blood points by doing things like cleansing totems, the less likely any of you live.
Also, what is the point of CAPITALIZING words in the middle of a sentence other than to be snarky? Saying things like "Should I get you a doll so you can show us where the bad Killer touched you?" is a direct comment needed to make your point or was a deliberate passive aggressive comment to try to insult?
Perhaps because you started your first post to me saying my advice is "BAD" rather than simply saying, you disagree and think they should do this? People will respond in kind. But again, I disagree. My advice is to make new Survivors into better Players in the long run. Bad Killers afford them time to practice all sorts of Skills. Good habits should start early. Free Blood Points are nothing to sneeze at. :) But you do you.
