The best way to avoid tilt is to cherrypick your matches carefully. Minimal items, make sure they're not a SWF, no keys, disconnect on bad map offerings, all of it. A fair match is much less tilting than the constant stream of 4man SWFs you'd otherwise get.
Ummmm, hrm. I'd say this is the worst advice I've heard anyone give in the last year, and that is saying something. Those are not good methods to avoid being titled, and in fact they are horrible habits if you want to get good at this game. Avoiding losing your cool and not getting tilted is an internal thing, not external. Your advice is focused on trying to manipulate the match, i.e. cherry pick which rarely works and all you are doing is setting yourself up for failure when things go south. Otz has a video which is actually very helpful for avoiding getting tilted. I suggest googling it and watching.
My own advice is the opposite of yours. Never cherry pick. Do not dodge lobbies. Don't focus on what is fair and what isn't fair. That is irrelevant. Set long term goals for yourself rather than fixate on individual matches. Win or lose you will be earning Blood Points and getting practice. We actually learn more from our failures than our successes. All in all, the tougher your matches, the faster you will improve. The goal is to get good. Nothing worth doing comes easy. If you set realistic expectations for yourself, you won't get tilted.

That goes without saying. But trying to get better at this game is impossible when killers can face camp and tunnel the survivors just because that day they decided to be scummy.
I understand that there are perks that help with this, but that's the sad thing. I shouldn't need to sacrifice my perk slot for a chance to stop a scummy killer from playing horribly. Almost every killer I go against either face camps me and/or tunnels me because I stunned them once with a pallet, or get one flashlight save.
I have a solution that could fix both problems in one feature;
When a survivor is hooked, the killer has to be within a certain radius (Maybe 15-20 Meters?) for this to work. When in the radius, if the hooked survivor is saved, it's automatic borrowed time. When outside of the radius, it doesn't give the borrowed time.
Killers will feel more inclined to stop camping if there are negative effects to camping. And by camping, they can't tunnel either. Killer mains won't agree with me, because sometimes camping is strategic, especially when you've had a tough game and have a survivor on the hook during endgame collapse, while other survivors are opening exit gates.
So there's a counter solution to the problem.
This effect won't work if the endgame collapse is activated.
Easy fix to camping and tunneling without hurting either side too much.
And we have today's winner of the NOPE prize. There is a solution to tunneling and camping (many of them in fact) and it all boils down to you improving your play. The Killer has a job to do, i.e. kill as many Survivors as possible. They aren't playing scummy as long as they do the following:
- Don't cheat, either by hack or lag spike.
- Don't disconnect; if you start a game, finish it.
- Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.
You on the other hand, are not being gracious in defeat. You are blaming the game and other Players for your failure. You cannot affect how the game is setup. You cannot control how other people play. You only have power over yourself. So, take ownership of your failures and start to work on how YOU will mitigate the problems you are encountering in the game. There will be no Deus Ex Machina from the DEV. They have made this clear time and time again. They have provided all of us with the tools we need to fight the good fight. Your in-game problems have in-game solutions.

It does seem rather silly, like leaving money on the table. When I see a bunch BP amplifiers, I try to stretch games out as long as I can. In general, as the Killer, the longer the game the more points you earn anyway. I don't know if I would go so far as to say they are playing like a douche, because they are just doing their job same as always. It seems a waste of potential points, but it isn't their job to maximize your score. In fact, many Killers (myself included) have so much stuff that BP is kind of redundant. I don't need it. I'm just too much like Scrooge McDuck, need it or not, I don't like wasting it. :)
Trapper and Hag both like the basement and I expect that Trapper HOPED that you guys would be super altruistic and he would end up with a slumber party down there. I'm sure his goal wasn't to just stick it to the Feng. :) It just worked out that way because I expect you guys weren't bombing the basement. So, if a Killer doesn't care about points, it means he/she is just playing the game to win. I think insulting them over that is a road too far.

~Troll'y Diver... you have been down too long in the midnight sea!~ Actually it is about getting as many Kills as possible when you play the Killer, and as many escapes as possible when you play the Survivor. That is the ENTIRE game. What is your malfunction?

I played a few games today with some friends and half the killers we faced were face camping. I think because of the ######### patch the only people left playing killer are the noobs.
New Killers do camp more; this is true and a theory that while we cannot actually test it, probably has some validity at some Ranks. For the record, I'm not a Noob Killer and I've been playing all day.

Really, what is happening now?
I played some matches with friends as survivor. And about 6 games in a row the killers start to tunnel and second stage camping and facecamping. I lost 5 pips today.
I always say the killers are not op or they have a disadvantage in higher ranks. Bit today was the toxiest day of all time.
When you killers play unfair like this and write in the after Chat : ez 12 times in a row, then its damn right the survivors teabag your ass the whole game.
I never Tunnel or camp or say toxic things in the after chat and i never will do it, because im better than this.
Really if u are bad, loose with some ######### dignity.
- No, I doubt things are as you describe. I'm not saying you are lying, but rather confirmation bias and ego is blinding you to facts. I find that Survivors identify camping and tunneling incorrectly most of the time, and almost always in a self serving way.
- You said you were playing some matches with friends. I'm going to assume, since it is 99.9% the case that you were on Comms. I doubt the Killers you faced would find that particularly fair. Many Killers (not myself) feel that Comms is toxic. Some can tell by your coordination and how you react if you are a SWF. If/when they do recognize a SWF, they immediately take a 4v1 to a 3v1 to offset the potential advantage Comms provides.
- Take your own advice, i.e. "lose with dignity." Coming here to rant is the opposite of that.
The only things any player (Killer or Survivor) has to do to be a good sport in Dead by Daylight are:
- Don't cheat, either by hack or lag spike.
- Don't disconnect; if you start a game, finish it.
- Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.
Everything else is on the table. Thus, even if you were being tunneled and camped ALL those matches (which I doubt) that is just how the cookie crumbles. That is the game. It is an in-game problem and you will need to find in-game solutions. I strongly suggest recording your games to watch them again later when less frustrated so you can see what YOU can do differently. In the end, there is no point in blaming the game or other players for your failures. You just have to take ownership and steps to get better. We have all lost Pips, sometimes quite a few. Sometimes you just have a bad run. Cheer up; you learn more from the losses than you do from victories.

Maybe you are right. I met with this game in 2017 and 4 years... I gave some breaks ofcourse but i played so much this game.
It is only natural it would lose some shine even if it hasn't changed that much. :) We do not age like fine wine ourselves, and it may be time for another break or moving on to the next best thing.

I do not know it is just me but i am kinda feeling DbD was better before. It is not fun like old times. Still sometimes i have great matches and wins. But this discussion is not about wins or loses.
New killers are not unique (Twins were last unique killer for 6 - 7 chapters). Reworked maps are bad for me, even Macmillian maps. Old Survivor animations were better. I can list more stuffs but i think i told enough. Maybe i am doing like grumpy old man but this is how i am feeling.
It's you. I'm not saying that to be mean but you have to understand that the game changes in a glacially slow way. We change much faster and the magic you enjoyed at one time was a just a stage. You can't go home again. We bring our own fun and enjoyment to the game, and if it seems gone that is because you have either outgrown the game or need to start playing it in different ways to challenge yourself.

It's my impartial point of view tho.
No, it isn't. What you are suffering from is called "confirmation bias" and it is pretty typical of people on Forums. Most of the people here who post regularly play both Killer and Survivor, often in equal amounts. What people don't take seriously are fuzzy thinking, poor logic, hyperbole, and other fallacies like the one you indulged in when creating this post. I don't care if you are saying something dumb about Killers, dumb about Survivors, dumb about maps, or dumb about anything, but I am going to tear any such nonsense apart and toss it in the bin where it belongs.
But let's start with you and your promotion of this false dichotomy, that there are Survivors and Killers outside the game. There aren't. There are just Players, period. Most of us who love this game and play it regularly want it to achieve the best balance possible. We also understand in a game with his many variables that perfect balance is not possible. This is a chaos engine, with each and every person taking part adding another level of complexity and uncertainty. All that out of the way, do you have a REAL topic you want to discuss?

Has something happened that I don't know about, Every Rank 1 Killer has been camping the hook today, and then instantly tunneling. And because most Survivors are too altruistic, they never know that doing gens counter this then 5 minutes later it's a 4K.
This has happened to me 10 games in a row, and gone from Rank 1 to Rank 3 before I could even blink. RIP. Is it just my imagination or what??
Sincercerly, a Leon that just wants the Adept trophy
It is your imagination. Killers are neither more nor less "campy" today than on any other day. If Survivors are overtly altruistic and keep bombing a hook, how can the Killer NOT be there? You are correct that suicidal altruism is a mistake, but most people aren't actually being camped or tunneled near as much as they "think" they are having it happen to them. Most people identify it incorrectly, and simply ignore their own part in the situation they created.

Three way tie between Tunneled, Camped, and Toxic. :)

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/261129/level-3-prestige-suggestion
Why is it needed to encourage prestige? Prestige only if you need the bloody skin. If you don't need it then don't prestige.
Your suggestion makes the prestige the META, and will force everyone to do prestige, which increases the grind even more.
So I don't like your suggestion.
It would certainly give people an encouragement to do it, but it wouldn't REALLY be META. The grind exists because people sit there trying to unlock Perks for all their Survivor Skins and/or different Killers. The items and add-on(s) are nice but not really why people do it. My suggestion would mean more people playing a wider selection of Killers and/or reward those that spent the time in Prestige with eventual better access to certain things. It wouldn't increase the grind (nothing could do that at this point), but rather make having to do the grind have some kind of point.
Full disclosure, I don't Prestige. I don't see the point in it. I'm very transactional that way. I don't care about cosmetics, and certainly not bloody outfits when I already have better ones. To put it further in context, I'm a nightmare scenario in a way because since I don't see the need to go around doing Prestige, I don't really play a lot of different Skins or Killers. My Myers has so much of everything that I can't run out, literally. I can play Fragrant Tufts of Hair or Tombstone Pieces until the cows come home and I recoup them so fast (or just use one of the multitude of Black Hands I have) that I never run out, the number of them never even dips in any meaningful way.
In short, I have no encouragement or reason to do Prestige. I have every reason not to do it. The longer I play the bigger my Scrooge McDuck vault gets for my main Survivor Skin and my favorite Killer. And thus, it becomes a feedback loop and I have an ever diminishing reason to play anyone else. My view is they need a reason to encourage it, and I base that on the lessons I've learned. For me, playing Myers, it isn't that big a deal because he isn't an S Tier Killer. But what about the people who ONLY play Spirit? Do you see my point. Consider a Spirit that can always play with the best Add-on(s) with no downside.

Should killer speed be nerfed to maybe 4.2 or 4.3, especially on killers with one hit down abilities or long lunge attacks?
I know survivors run at 4, and with all the new range attacks killers, one hit downs, Noed, etc., I thought maybe devs should take another look at killer speeds. Thoughts?
This and would also help chases last longer and could help killer mains develop the much needed skill to compete when they do reach red ranks.
So exactly when did this Forum install a bridge? I mean you must emerge from under one. Is it a suspension bridge? I love those. We are going to have to work up some theme music for you, "Troll'y diver... you've been down too long in the midnight sea!" Of course being a less talented Sluzzy (which in of itself is quite a feat) doesn't exactly qualify you for stardom. I love it when guys like you come along. The fact the recently Every survivor I've been matched with even though I save them multiple times has left me on my first hook at the end of a match. Killer isn't camping or anything and they just dart out of the gate. So If I am in your game and we are survivor together don't get hooked because I am leaving you up there. As I cannot take the chance of risking a hook state for someone who is just going to leave me up there.
I had a match this morning with a TTV person and what was clearly entourage. The TTV person was PC but didn't say anything in the pre-game chat even though I tried to engage. I thought that odd, but not unprecedented. Then in the game I promptly did a safe rescue for that TTV person got them going. Then I went off and proceeded to do a long chase away from the others so they could do Generators.
Then, as I sat on the hook I saw all three ignore me and work Generators. I was annoyed that they would let me get to the 2nd Stage, but I figured if they get three more Generators up I would forgive it. Then one of them finished and went over and started healing someone just a short distance from me and let me die. :) It isn't just Randoms. I find that Randoms will try to help you. The problem is, and has always been, SWF. A 3-Person SWF doesn't care about you. They think of you as a disposable asset, useful for what you do and the diversion of it.
This treatment of the odd person on the team, in turn, breeds mistrust and a "every Survivor for him/herself" attitude that only worsens the problem. I kind of laughed it off. I thought about staying to chat in the End Game Chatter, but figured why bother. That person and entourage were garbage. Why would I give them more content? My point is you have to keep fighting the good fight. You have to go in and help those other Solos when you can. If we give in to the negative feedback attitude things will just get worse.

I'm still having the same fun playing Killer as I always have. Sometimes a few of the things on your list pop up, but they are a tiny minority of matches. If you are miserable playing Killer, play Survivor. If you are miserable playing both, take a break or seek your bliss in another game. I never understand these "the sky is falling" posts because I track my metrics and experiences and everything is still within the Bell Curve.

I feel like it's a really big problem that there is no official win condition. I mean, how could you ever have a competitive game with no win condition? That's impossible. So most people just make it up. I generally like to use the method that Otzdarva does when he does his win streaks where if at least one person gets out through the exit gate with all gens powered it's a loss for the killer. That may seem a little harsh but I like giving myself a challenge. So what are your win conditions, and I don't mean "get 4 BBQ stacks", I mean a legitimate win condition that you are satisfied with?

I watch True a fair bit on youtube and I think he's wrong about survivor being too strong, killers being too weak in the sense that he always misses this very simple point
This game is 1 v 4 and therefore must be slightly biased towards favoring survivor
In order for matches to be made, playing survivor has to be slightly more appealing than playing killer.
Therefore survivors should be given a minor advantage to keep match making going smoothly.
To me it makes sense then that only ~20% of people should feel inclined to take on the challenge of playing killer, thus the in-game fairness can never be properly balance, as match making is much more important for the overall health of the game
Do you know how little I am interested in hearing what people think about what OTHER people think on these Forums? :) Even if the source of your idea is a Streamer, can't any of you formulate your own thoughts, put it into your own words and apply critical thinking skills? The Streamers are just people, and ones with their own biases and ulterior motives to boot.

It never got results, the Devs haven't cared in years. Their lack of competitors has made them extremely lazy.
But telling people they're spoiled, entitled brats just for asking for the bare minimum? People can't even play the game or dlc they payed for any more, it's when getting worse and worse for years, the Devs have made promises they haven't kept and refuse to acknowledge, and to cap it all they just don't do events any more.
Is it really entitled to ask for the easiest of these? I'm not talking about pride month specifically, I'm just pointing out that a few recycled items and a BP bonus is a better apology than literally ######### nothing.
I hate to say it, because I like you and your posts, but yes... it is entitled. We get what we pay for. When we ask for more, that we don't pay for, we are feeling entitled and demanding to be serviced. That is the long and the short of it. If they wanted to do the bare minimum, they would have created a Pride Charm and put it for sale. I'm not joking.
This is a game. We are customers. We get what we pay for. If we are unhappy, and if you are correct and they haven't listened for years, then the only option is to vote with your wallet and leave. If you don't do that, if you keep playing matches, your actions do not match your words. What does that make you?
I'm not trying to insult you. I'm being pragmatic and realistic. They owe us nothing more than what we have paid for. Anytime they do anything, even the bare minimum, they have gone above and beyond. I'm not apologizing for them. I don't apologize for anyone but myself. I've given them lots of feedback. You know that as well as anyone. When they didn't take it, I moved on. There was no longer a point. It is only a question of am I willing to keep playing the game, and so far... yeah.

Given that the Devs decided it was too much effort to simply add little bloodhunts or recycle old events, I don't see your point. Call me entitled all you want, surely if they can't make the game function properly on anything less than the latest and greatest, they could at least throw a few bloodpoints at us?
But no, they don't, and apologists try to make us all look bad for continuing to support this game despite its severely mounting issues.
I'm not an apologist. I'm realist. I'm a pragmatist. Are you still playing matches? If so, you are just as guilty in supporting the game as anyone else. I'm not trying to push your buttons. I'm pointing out this endless line of complaints has reached the point where it no longer gets results, in fact, it is a negative sum game. They no longer have any reason to listen to us because we have made the situation pointless.

I never mentioned farming with the killer, if he let me escape through the hatch or open an exit gate the match would've been over in less than a minute. We both could've moved on to the next game almost instantly but he kept playing so I did the same.
And why should he/she do that? The Killer got hit in the Pips and BP also when those idiots disconnected. He/she still has a job to do. Why does your job take precedence in value? Get real. You are just another entitled person blaming the WRONG Players for why you got screwed over. You should have started a thread ranting about bad sports who disconnect and leaving you hanging; instead, you attacked the only other Player in the game who had the ethics to play it to the end. Grow up.

Farming is not necessary, however, there are different ways to handle it:
Good way: Play nice, let everyone get some Unhooks, dont tunnel, dont camp. You most likely won anyway when the DC was early, at least everyone gets some points (including you).
Neutral way: Play normally, just like the DC never happened. This will give less points and a less enjoyable experience for the Survivors, but, you end the game faster.
Bad way: You have one person on the Hook and another person slugged and you leave them there to go for the 3K (really nice, Killer left with like 10k points...)
Worst way: Two people DCed and you decide to let the other two bleed out because they (the ones who stayed in the game...) ruined your game (yep, this happend two days ago. Was fun to be responsible for other people DCing..).
In general, I try to play nice. Or just let the Survivors go, like, today I played a game and someone crashed immediatly when the match loaded. So I just played normally, but made sure to not hook someone 3 times.
Agreed. When I get an early quitter I don't openly farm. I change gears, and will let them catch up enough hooks to make the game competitive again. Victories mean nothing to me unless they were earned, so I have to reset. The fact everyone gets more points out of it is great. The key is not to let them KNOW because if they THINK you are farming with them, they get mad at you later when you kick back into gear.

And this thread, and some of the people in it, show why we can't have nice things. For some people it is never enough; you do something nice and they use it for an excuse to complain why they didn't get more. The Events (which are free) aren't as big as last time, we didn't get enough free Blood Points, my cause didn't get enough representation, and so on it goes. Seriously, you make Dudley from the Potterverse look like a perfectly normal guy.
It doesn't matter what the company does, there are a significant enough number of you that are going to take a dump on it. Do I need to explain negative feedback loops to you? At some point (probably reached it already) the DEV are going to say, "why do we bother at all? If we are going to be treated as souless, incompetent jerks no matter what we do, doesn't it make more fiscal sense to just ignore them? Wouldn't it be less stressful to just never listen to them?"
Some of you guys are like the parents who scream at and berate their young children who did well, but not perfect. Yes Timmy, I know you guys won the game but you gave up three hits. You could have lost it for everyone. What if there had been a scout in the crowds. You are WORTHLESS! Do you see my point?

I record my matches and track my metrics to locate where I'm having problems, against what Killers, builds, etc. and to figure out what I could do better. I do it as both Killer and Survivor. It helped improve my games. Of course, you have to get actionable intelligence from the information, and you have to actually, well... ACT on it. :)

Yesterday I had a doctor at hawkins that kept tryharding after 3 of my teammates dc'ed 30 secs after the match started. Luckily I managed to open an exit gate and when I asked him why he didn't go easier on me he said "because I can". Most killers have no empathy, I would've let the last survivor go because it isn't their fault their teammates ditched them. You're going to depip anyway so why be a douche?
No, most Killers just want to get on to the next match and farming with you could have wasted twenty minutes of his/her life. The quitters already wasted the match. I see this all the time; some pathetic losers spoiled your match and doomed you and YOU blame the Killer instead. Grow up.

No, there are no rules about having to Farm. Many people will simply farm when someone disconnects early in the game. It is not, however a requirement.

Thanks Which killer has Pop goes the weasel
Clown. :) It might be better to wait for it to show up for it on the Shrine unless you enjoy playing the coughing, fat man. Of course you could play something else, and just pour whatever BP you earn into Clown's Blood Web until you unlock his Perks. Bamboozle is pretty good, Pop is awesome.

I agree with 1 and 3 wholeheartedly😁For your number 2, I want to finish the game but I have had way to many 3 gen situations in my time playing (waiting between 20 to 30 minutes sometimes) and nothing gets changed...why hasn't that been changed let me open the gates even so I don't DC.
I would also say last minute changes in the lobby without giving me a chance to change perks is taking advantage of the game.
Even so, you don't disconnect. You get a 3 Gen you wait it out. They do a last minute switch to be jerks, you play meaner. The point is you don't stoop to their level. And why would you disconnect. You realize all you do is REWARD them for hiding right? Not only do you lose all points you would have made, they get a Quitter Bonus and get to win a match they had really already lost. Annoying or not, you hunt those little turds down, patiently and however long it takes.

The only time I do that is when they hold the game hostage by hiding for more than 20 minutes in a 3 gen situation(where I don't use whispers because I want to run a different build). I didnt DC b4 because I would be hit with the DC penalty but now i would be crazy to sit there and accommodate the survivors🙄.
No, you would be playing the game. Sometimes it is rough. Sometimes it is frustrating. The social contract still behooves you, me, and everyone else to finish our matches. The only rules you need to follow to be a good sport in Dead by Daylight are:
- Don't cheat, either by lag spike or hack.
- Don't disconnect; if you start a game, finish it.
- Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.
If you want them to leave, go stand in a corner and let them finish and depart. Watch some Youtube, whatever. Don't disconnect.

So when a survivor dcs I should report them every time as well
Yes. Disconnecting in a match is a reportable offense. Encouraging and admitting the behavior here is also likely to get you a warning from the Mods. I don't care what silly notion you have that you are standing up to the MAN when you disconnect. What you are actually doing is spoiling the match for four other people who joined in good faith. There is no defense for your actions, period. If you have a beef with the map, you go to the suggestion area and you give feedback. You don't punish other Players.
