'Surely you can concede that while not against the rules, it is not the most engaging nor sportsmanlike way of playing.'
So? Not to be a jerk but...so?
I've played this game since launch, and do you know the only times 'sportsmanship' is applied? To Killers and how they win.
Strong perks? Unsportsmanlike!
Strong Killers? Unsportsmanlike!
Valid tactics (Slugging, tunneling, camping)? Unsportsmanlike!
Killers have to make sure Survivors have fun! Killers have to stop being 'sweats'! Killers have to go off-meta! ...But Survivors? Survivors can run a 4-man SWF, with meta perks, and voice comms and Killers are supposed to 'git gud' and 'suck it up'.
Do you know what the equivalent of 'camping' and 'tunneling' is? 'Genrushing'. I don't believe in any of the phrases, but as long as Survivors will bang out gens in under 5 minutes while ALSO screaming for Killers to 12 hook because 'Sportsmanship' and 'Stop being a jerk', I will keep saying 'No.'
Because why are Killers supposed to not try to win, or only win by some made up code of honor forced on them by THE OPPOSING SDIE, while that same side continues to try winning as fast as they can?
It's a BS double standard. So don't talk to me about 'Sportsmanship', because it's nothing more than 'Stop trying to win' in a pretty bow.
stop whining! as a survivor I tell you: as long as you are not toxic, use all the means you want! it will be nice to play against you! ;)

Punishments were tried. Survivors abused them.
You Survivors need to realize that 'I don't like <x> tactic' is not a valid excuse to punish or remove said tactic.
camping is part of the game, so it should be a legitimate tactic! you killers must understand that when you camp you break my balls! are we all in agreement?

I don't mind it, but I think it'd be nifty if killers staggered while holding a survivor and dropping from that height too. Maybe just a little boost to the struggle meter.
I agree!

It's to prevent maps with double floors to have insanely strong loops. Imagine Haddonfield if survivors didn't stagger after falling.
you are right! but it would be more honest if at least they couldn't hit in flight! ;)

Pretty much this. I don't mind getting killed or if I get one kill as long as the match is fun. I, personally don't try and put my own "fun" above others (I.E. I don't try to ruin others experiences for my own sake.) But, ultimately, if the you end the round smiling, you won.
maybe you haven't read what I wrote! first point: help my comrades! I repeat: I win if 1) I help my fellow survivors 2) I run away from the killer 3) I make gen and totems 4) I flee from the test. in this precise order.
-
i win when i have fun! it doesn't matter to escape for me, it matters to help my comrades, escape from the killer, make generators and when possible, escape ... exactly in the order I wrote!

They didn't kill Balanced. They made it more reasonable, because you shouldn't get a reduced fall after you've already used the sprint burst and are exhausted.
Right!!! but they should understand that even killers are subject to gravity! if a survivor launches from above and staggers, this should happen to the killer too!

I have a problem with the i-frames. It doesn't matter if a hatchet goes through your body or whatever. You're just invincible because you pressed a button.
and you as a huntress, you can hit me around a corner because the target of the blow is too wide ... everyone will always say that the advantage is the opponent ... think about playing!

I have played DBD since 2016 and through most of it, I have been Killer Main, with only recent years I have begun playing both Killer and Survivor equally. I have nothing against Dead Hard in its current state, it works just fine and well. It is a risky perk that in no way guarantees you escape. If you learn that a survivor has a DH, simply time your strike next time when they try to mind game you in DH. It's not like DH is a OP perk. People just are too hasty to use M1.
Granted, there are situations where Survivors use DH to grant themselves distance enough for a free window leap or Pallet safe when normally you would have had them there, but that's just part of the game for crying out loud. Just like Lite, Balanced landing, Sprint, and every other escape perk give you opportunities to create distance from the Killer, so does DH, just differently. It's not like they can spam it, and it's not like you can not continue to follow them if you so desire or leave them and come back when they are still recovering their DH.
finally an intelligent person who uses his brain!

The game needs both roles to work, remember to look at it from both sides. :)
in fact I was sarcastic ... every role is beautiful at times, sweaty at other times. i love dbd with all its faults!

You mean you have to use your brain at a loop and try not to make mistakes/be outplayed instead of just being mindless and relying on your free health state?
Oh the horror!
Wouldn't want survivors to have to think or anything.
so rest assured: you are not the only one thinking! don't feel alone! lol

Otzdarva recently uploaded an interesting video revealing what he was counting secretly on his streams, which happened to be meme addons. Watching the video it dawned on me how right he really was in his assessment of the game, players are very competitive in a highly casual environment. This game, by its nature is quite casual, you can't really rely on your teammates, a lot of the things in this game carry big meme energy, tons of perks and addons exist solely as a joke or laughable but effective tool, etc etc. However despite this, a very significant portion of players (often independent of rank) try exceptionally hard to win. Bringing their strongest stuff every match, using whatever tactics are necessary to escape/4k even if they are the only one trying that hard, you know the drill. Whats the forum consensus on this? Is being over-competitive a healthy way to approach the game? Why do you think people are like this, more particularly what about DBD do you think inspires this mindset? I'd love to hear what you guys have to say.
I don't understand the problem: as a survivor I have 4 goals, I quote them according to their importance: 1) help my mates. 2) escape the killer 3) generators 4) escape. what other way to play is there?

It's almost like only playing one side isn't intended.
I have all my Killers nearly maxed out and one survivor, but even most survivors are at least P1 and I barely play survivor. I have 3,900 hours logged - mostly Killer.
Play Killer, people. You'll be nicer to your Killers if you do and make better BP. You might even understand why Killers get more after you have to work for your points instead of leaning on 3 other people and four perks to carry you to victory.
poor killers, how much effort they have to do! lol

sprint burst is a very good advantage, but I don't always want to walk around the map so as not to waste it! ;)

It's hard to get people into this game because of the starting resources. They know they're playing with just the basic perks that come with their character, they know there are better ones, but they don't have the time/money/motivation to powerlevel a different character. They know Ruin exists, but Hag is hard and they're feeling information overload just trying to play Doc. They know Deliverance exists, but they don't want to spend 6.99 on a character they don't want for 1 perk while they're still trying to get Jake to level 50
What I'd suggest to remedy this new player burnout is a first-timer perk pack menu. They get to choose one preset build (4 perks) from a list to get a headstart and be slightly more on-par with their teammates. We experienced players wouldn't get to use this menu as we already have progress on our accounts, it would strictly be a feature for first-timers.
What do you think of this suggestion?
I have done a lot of apprenticeship! that they do it too !!! ;)

we had 2 new killers in one month ... less killers more fixes!

Why should i care for your fun anymore if no one cares for mine ? Its not worth it playing nice for one person put of 40.
maybe I met killers like you! it would be a good challenge, respectful and honest! thank you for being who you are!

Wraith with silenced bell + all seeing blood with a mori on badham where all the gens have obscured line of sights.
These add ons are just straight up disgusting, and wraith does not need them after his buff. Both of them combined make for a miserable time for survivors. Same with Myers’ mori add ons and Pig’s that make it impossible to search every box.
Shocker, that on death hook I got tunnelled and mori’d. Because as people say on here, they’re totally fine now!! Mori’s should not be able to bypass DS, that’s just ridiculous. Thank god they’re being changed soon, as mori’s are just an excuse to camp and tunnel.
Fix these ads ons and buff the bad ones pls
deal with it and move on to the next game!

how sad !!!

@Kata said:
I think pallets, just loops in general like the really long rocks in Temple, where the killer can do absolutely nothing except bloodlust are genuinely awful. A killer should either be able to mindgame it, be forced to break it, or both. The survivor shouldn't be able to endlessly loop, never drop the pallet, and not get punished for it. It doesn't require any skill, it just forces the killer to walk in a circle, disrespect the pallet, hope the survivor messes up, and for what? A measly hit after .
I know there are other but I can't think of them. Regardless... they're horrible. Nobody's having fun, nobody's really winning, and if you're not an anti-loop killer it makes you wanna leave the game and that's not fun. (However if you are an anti loop killer they don't even try to loop they just run in a straight line, dropping pallets, and overall not even attempting to loop. I say all of this when people do this vs bloody Ghostface like... you can not be a less interesting survivor.)
but what are you saying? reread what you wrote please! you say everything and the opposite of everything!
1) the killer is faster than the survivor, so you can't go around a rock indefinitely!
2) as you said there are strong survivors in the loop and strong killers in the anti-loop. but there are also survivors who can't loop, killers who can't hit ... the game is, on the whole, balanced for all types of players. sometimes you will encounter maps in your favor, sometimes not! sometimes you will find strong survivors, sometimes not! if you win good for you! if you lose, take the loss and move on to the next game! this game is neither for the survivors nor for the killers! it depends on the case!
Then there is the skill of the players: it is the only thing that makes the difference!
-
@Zozzy said:
Tell me where the risk is in 90% of the loops in this game? as long as you watch the killer they can't do anything about them. The only unsafe loop in the game is T pallets if you let the killer get you on the wrong side or they are a lagy sob. and LT gyms if you are not paying attention.
you are saying a heresy!
-
why don't we petition to get rid of all pallets?
-
dc in a previous game?
-
question: what's the problem with add-ons?
-
I'm perplexed ... it's an event! what problem can that be?

How to discuss killer balance if killer's performance is drastically impacted by realms?
Examples on the end of the spectrum are Nurse on Raccon City/Lery's/Haddonfield (indoor maps) and Stealthy killers on Autohaven Wreckers/The MacMillan Estate (outdoor maps).
Now that we have enough realms, also enough killers, we can allow banning 3 or 4 realms without worring about diversity.
What's your opinion on this? Do you think killer balancing data is accurate considering the huge RNG on maps?
I would like them to remove the pallets and windows from all maps! just endless open fields! ;)

Also the real toxic behavior is from survivors, most people would know that if they put the same amount of time in on survivor they did both sides.
I've never said the opposite!

No, I don't agree. You don't get to decide how far or how long is 'toxic'.

As to 4; no. No. No.
How would the game determine 'a toxic way'? How would a GAME determine HUMAN INTENT?
And why TF do Survivors keep thinking the Killer should be punished? Salty Survivor views on what camping is are irrelevant; punishments are not doled out based on hurt feelings.
you are right! but if you stay 5 minutes less than 5 meters from the hook, I don't think there are many doubts about toxicity! do not you think?

Yeah sadly thats what happens. Slinger got a lot of success aswell.
Honestly I think DC is fine. Its not a competitive ranked game.
Instead, I think Bhvr should just create a system that :
1)Replace the DC by a bot
2) The dc dont get notified to killer and survivors, so everyone can continue to play normally as if nothing happened.
3) Everyone in the trial get a bonus amount of points for quitter event.
Win-Win
Very good!!!!!
