it doesnt answer my question. how that feature gonna help the game if my teamate sit in lockers ? hm. how is it gonna help if my teamate suicide on first hook or DC ?

what exactly are you expecting here from BHVR?

you will be able to play the game in custom mode with bots that won’t do that. Otherwise you can’t force players to not do these

It was 200k for each code. First trivia email was sent around may 10th, and the other 2 were sent on the 16th and 17th. I got the emails from opting into their marketing on my bhvr account. So if you don't have a bhvr account and didn't opt in that might be why you didn't get the emails.

Is it the BHVR account that’s also used for cross Progression or is it the account that’s used for the official website? (I think those are distinct to each other?)

"If you've already reached Prestige 3 on a character, your dedication will be rewarded. Each character currently P3 will receive an exclusive, unique reward- more details to come soon."

Was this actually said? I don't remember that being in the stream so just wanna check the validity.

It was stated and Mandy confirmed later on these forums that the reward will not be a cosmetic(piece) and not a charm.

  • Which email/Account was used for this?? Didn’t get anything either..

  • But… if there was a pet prompt i wouldn’t do anything else when on that map…

(no seriously.. I already waste so much time already using the two animations we have a as survs…)

  • I think there is one perk that was created based on fan concepts (it was one of Myers perks, maybe Save the best for Last? Not sure)

otherwise, I have asked this question before in a dev Q&A stream and they answered that they love to read these fan concepts but they don’t intend to turn one into an actual character in-game.

Alright then, but it won't be there for this anniversary update, right?

It can't be, or it would already be in the PTB i guess

    Question 3:

If the rewards are not cosmetic, are even tied to a specific character? The one you grinded for.

Or are we getting just bloodpoints?

Pretty sure Mandy confirmed in another thread it’s really later this summer and definitely not the anniversary chapter!

    Q3:

we really only know the rewards will not be cosmetics or charms, nothing else has been revealed (I think bloodpoints are unlikely though)

  • Sorry for late reply and you might already have found it but maybe someone else searches for it and stumbles over your thread, so here is a link:

Once again, with the new chapter comes new lore. Sadly, I find Haddie's lore kind of disappointing, since it basically ignores 90% of what happened in the Archives, but it is what it is. The Dredge is cool.

    Haddie Kaur

Haddie spent her youth in a household brimming with love. Her mother, Professor Basant Kaur, moved across the world to teach agricultural science at a university in Trois-Rivières, Quebec. Her father, Rajan Singh, found remarkable success with a catering business in the small Quebecoise town. Her house was constantly swirled with the wonderful aromas of cumin, chillies, masala, cardamon and fresh, steaming naan pulled from a tandoor oven. Her earliest memories were filled with stories of India and on her tenth birthday her parents promised to visit Punjab just after the new year.

During the holiday season, her parents went to a party with their closest friends, Marise and Francois Rois. When Haddie called her parents to say she felt sick, they left in a hurry. Driving through the winding, snow-swept roads of rural Quebec, Rajan lost control of the car, skidding into an icy, gnarled forest. It would be two days before their bodies were found trapped in the vehicle. As Haddie’s fever broke, the police arrived at her doorstep telling her that they had not suffered. But Haddie was old enough to know the police were just being kind. The next morning, she woke up with white hair and a question that would haunt her for the rest of her life.

The Rois took Haddie in, doing their best to fill the hole left by her parents. Despite the enormous loss, Haddie was again surrounded with love: the love her adoptive parents had for their son, Jordan, and the love the three had for her. But the trauma of losing her parents seemed to unlock something within her. She began to see things nobody else could see; horrible, unnatural, unexplainable things. Apparitions tormented her in class, at home, in bed. Her unexpected screams earned her the nickname “Helly Haddie,” adding to her alienation and anguish. Once a cheerful and social child, Haddie walled herself off to the world.

With time Haddie realized her uncanny abilities only triggered in certain areas–dark areas. It was as though there were places in the world where another dimension somehow bled into our own. Jordan called these intersecting areas Overlaps and they seemed to give Haddie insight into a dark, shadowy world straight out of a cosmic horror story. When Haddie graduated from high school, she felt an unexplainable tug to discover who her parents were. To raise money for a trip to India, her brother Jordan suggested that they use her abilities to explore and document all the haunted places in Quebec, starting with a haunted asylum. At the Dorea Institute, Haddie could see and hear residual memories… patients, doctors, and so much more.

While recording her impressions at the institute, she offhandedly called the encroaching dimension the Ravage since it not only assaulted her with memories from all times and places but also gave the sense of feeding off psychic energy. The Ravage, she sensed, was a living mosaic of human suffering that was slowly corrupting and devouring the world. She concluded that they needed to investigate more to see if there was anything to her hypothesis.

Jordan presented the footage and recordings to their uncle Stefan who helped them turn what they had documented into a web series. Within days of uploading the first episode, Ravages of the Abyss was a viral hit. True crime fans, ghost-chasers and skeptics flooded the comments with their own theories of what she was experiencing. Stefan handled the production, and before long, he presented Haddie with her first check as a professional podcaster.

Now with a working budget, Haddie was able to investigate the most haunted places in the world seeking answers about the Ravage. Her investigations led her to a secluded island where an entire town had mysteriously disappeared, leaving dozens of empty homes. She never felt such a strong influence of the Ravage as she did here. It pulsed with suffering and cruelty and repressed darkness.

Haddie absorbed the emotions of the ghost town and closed her eyes. Calming herself and silencing her mind, she began to hear guttural screams and cries and whimpers. When she opened her eyes again, she could see the scintillating orange residual memories of people tearing each other apart in the mud and rain. Then everything disappeared as a much older version of her stepbrother beckoned her from one of the homes. She chased after him only to stop suddenly with the realization that the Ravage was toying with her emotions, playing tricks on her, making her see things that couldn’t possibly be real.

The encounter nearly put Haddie off the project entirely, but she was now the linchpin for a company that fed her family. Her uncle Stefan continued to line up sites to visit, and after a personal trip backpacking across India, Haddie carried on subjecting herself to the horrors of the Ravage.

Then, while investigating a haunted World War II bunker in the Alps, Haddie heard someone faintly crying out for help in Punjabi. Snow flurried in the bunker as a tunnel suddenly opened to a snow-covered forest. A horn blared in the distance and faded away. She saw the glow of red lights through a wall of snow and felt her heart skip a beat as she rushed to a crumpled blue car pinned between two massive pine trees. Through the shattered windshield she saw the bodies of her parents stuck in pools of frozen blood.

Haddie narrowed her gaze and saw tiny plumes of vapor floating from their trembling blue lips. With a profound sense of urgency, she rushed around the wreck trying her best to push, pull and kick her way in. All to no avail. As she cried out to them that she was sorry for being sick, that the accident was all her fault, their eyes snapped open and, in unison, they answered the question that had anchored her life to their death.

    Yes… Beti… we suffered…

With a terrible cry Haddie fell back into the snow as ice tendrils wrapped around her and pulled her down into a world of endless darkness.

    The Dredge/Druanee

The Fold was founded on a private American island in the 1960s by a group of anonymous philanthropists. Their goal was to establish a peaceful society free of dark thoughts and emotions, attracting the dismayed, disenchanted and disillusioned from all over the country.

This peace-loving community thrived over the years, and members followed the dictates of its charismatic leader Otto Stamper, who taught his followers the secrets of maintaining happiness through joy-talk, meditation and the endless reciting of “good-thinking” mantras.

But not all was bliss within the Fold, and Otto swiftly banished anyone who confessed to having dark thoughts or speaking dark words. Those he appointed as guardians of the Fold were quick to root out malcontents, banishing anyone who thought or spoke against the almost perfect community he had established.

In this way, Otto had conditioned Ottomarians to believe dark thoughts were the root of all discontent. He spoke of an ancient dark god called Druanee, telling them how this god fed on dark memories and desires and how they needed to expel any and all manifestations of darkness from their hearts for fear of summoning this horror from the Land of Shadows.

Life was more or less a Utopian dream on the island until, that is, the darkness began to slowly leak through the cracks of their spiritual dam and members began to mysteriously disappear.

It wasn’t long before fear closed its septic jaws on the island and refused to let go.

The once happy community now gathered in a few homes chanting all the “good-thinking” mantras in a desperate attempt to rid their lives of this formless creature that seemed to stalk them in the shadows and consume them in their sleep.

Otto tried to quell his followers, telling them that there were malcontents among their ranks and that they alone had summoned the Druanee to their Garden of Joy.

As the Fold bleated fear, Otto evoked desperate measures. Ottomarians were restricted to their homes to prevent the spread of rumors and dark-talk while sleep was forbidden to prevent anyone from releasing dark dreams into the world. Freedom and sleep would return just as soon as the Druanee was no longer upon them.

But when Ottomarians continued to disappear, Otto assembled his followers near the beach where he placed a screaming woman on a wooden stage. There, in the rain, Otto explained to his drenched, alienated and sleep-deprived congregation that the woman was a journalist here to destroy everything they had created.

As the guardians held the trembling woman, she screamed that Otto wasn’t the savior he claimed to be. He belonged to an ancient cult, an exclusive club of billionaires that took pleasure in corrupting and sacrificing people, towns and even countries to an Elder God. The journalist told them Otto hadn’t banished anyone! He had tortured and sacrificed them and that they would all be next.

Without hesitation, Otto slit her throat before she could continue to spread lies. As she collapsed to her knees with her hands clasped around her neck, he told his confused and terrified herd that she was working with others within their ranks and that they needed to find the imposters before the Druanee came for them all.

Otto’s words shot over the congregation and reached into the murky recesses of their hearts and dredged up dark and fearful things.

Years of suppressed emotions began to bubble up as a thick fog pushed through restless legs and feet. Whispers began, and the whispers became panicked mantras, and the mantras became screams and curses as each member accused the next of malthinking and malspeaking.

Over the howling wind and pounding rain, the screams and curses grew louder as everyone desperately tried to contain the darkness within. But the harder they tried, the quicker they failed, and within moments the dam burst to release a torrent of hell.

Otto watched his once blissful and joyful herd suddenly erupt into violence unlike anything he had ever seen before. The Fold bleated accusations and tore each other to bits and pieces with hands and teeth and never once did they look up to see their kind and charismatic shepherd smiling down upon them with eyes that were cold, bleak and without pity.

When it was all over, Otto felt the creaking wooden stage shake as a murder of crows circled above. Suddenly, the ground rose and then sank into a thick, oozing black mud like molasses. Moments later, a formless mass squelched out of the muck and rose like a rearing horse to feed upon the writhing mass of butchered humanity.

It was everywhere and nowhere at once as it slowly picked its way through the carnage, absorbing the darkness, savoring the misery, trailing terrible noises. Shrieks. Cries. Whimpers. Pops. Cracks.

    Feasting sounds.

    Death sounds.

    Dark sounds.

Otto watched the creature as it slowly began to manifest into the very thing he had imagined–the very thing he had made them all imagine.

It turned slowly to look at Otto for a long, silent moment, then the Druanee trudged away through the thick black sludge, disappearing into the shadows from which it had come.

  • They have talked about making the Solo survivor experience better in the January dev update and one example was to add something like a ping system where survivors would see what the other survivors are currently doing with a little icon (eg repairing, healing, being chases) additionally to the current info (being injured/death state/hooked etc)

sadly they didn’t talk about it in the anniversary stream at all but I hope it’s still planned to come soon in some way…

Happy New Year! We’re back after a quick break and jumping right back into things with another developer update. Like last time, there’s too much to go through in one sitting, so check back tomorrow for part 2. Most of this will appear in the upcoming Mid-Chapter, but we also wanted to be a bit more transparent with what we’re working on for the future. For the sake of clarity, we’ve marked anything that’s for a later update with “Future”.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/G7427991HROQ/performance.png

    Future: Patch Optimization Plans

Depending on where you play, it can either take a while to install a patch or patch sizes can be unusually large. Needless to say, this isn’t ideal: When new content releases, who wants to wait around for it? That’s why we’re working on improving the update process going forward.

First of all, why does it take so long? To keep it simple, the game is split up into small chunks. This way when the game updates, you only need to download the chunks that changed rather than the whole game. The trouble is, as the game has grown over the years, so have these chunks, which makes downloads and/or patch times (depending on which platform you’re on) longer.

So what are we doing about it? In the short term, for Steam only due to technical reasons, we will be compressing the files more starting this Mid-Chapter. This will make patch times as much as 50% faster and decrease the amount of disk space required by about 18 GB.

Next, we’ll be restructuring these chunks in a future update. This will affect all platforms and make patch times up to 200% faster!

IMPORTANT NOTE: In both cases, these improvements will require you to completely redownload the game. This means there will be a very large download when updating or opting into or out of the PTB. Don’t worry, this is normal! Afterwards, updates will go back to being much smaller.

    Future: Matchmaking Optimization Plans

We’re a few months into Skill Based Matchmaking (SBMM), and we’d like to shed some light on what we’ve been working on and the improvements we’ll be making going forth. Though it may be polarizing, we want to be as transparent as possible when it comes to SBMM, as the discussions that stem from it are incredibly valuable to us as we continue to work on improvements.

The game and the community are constantly changing, and the matchmaking system should always be adapted to support them. This is why we’re constantly making changes behind the scenes. One recent example came from an influx of new players. We noticed that the default rating was placing first-time players against some fairly experienced opponents. So, to remedy this, we lowered the default rating for new players so they would be more likely to play amongst each other. We’re regularly making changes like this behind the scenes to find the best balance of fast queues and quality matches.

Beyond small tweaks, we’ve identified some areas where the system could be improved. Let’s run through each of them quickly:

    Backfill Improvements

If someone leaves a lobby, the matchmaker needs to find a replacement (a.k.a. backfill). Right now, it heavily favours a quick replacement over a quality one. This can lead to some matches where one (or more) players are outside of their normal skill range. We’re going to work towards finding a good balance between quality and wait times.

    Disconnection Handling

Currently, the SBMM system doesn’t handle disconnects as well as it could. We’re looking to make adjustments to handle them better and make sure disconnects are treated fairly when altering someone’s rating.

    Extended Breaks

When someone takes an extended break from the game, their rating does not change. This isn’t ideal since you’re bound to be a little rusty after not playing for a while, and returning to difficult matches is a recipe for a frustrating night. We’re hoping to introduce a mechanic that adjusts your rating(s) when you’ve been gone for a while to ease you back in when you return.

    General Improvements

This one is a little more technical: The game will detect which server you have the best connection to and match you with other players who are close to that server. This works well enough, but if you’re right between two servers, you’ll only be matched with one set of players. For players who have good connections to more than one server, we’d like to open up matchmaking and allow them to find matches with either set of players. This can help balance out queue times at off-peak hours and even improve the quality of the matches made.

As a note, these changes will take a while to develop, but we’re confident that these will make notable improvements on the matchmaking system.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/JW8CDFZPQFJZ/lonelysurvivor.png

    Future: Solo Survivor Experience

If you’re reading this, you’ve been left on the hook at some point. Okay, maybe not, but the chances are very high.

Thanks to Skill Based Matchmaking ratings, we’re able to see the impact playing with a premade group has on the outcome of a match at various skill levels. The data confirms our suspicions: As skill goes up, so does the gap in survival rates between solo survivors and premade groups. In the top end of skill levels, the difference in escape rates can be as much as 15%.

This isn’t great: This difference between solo Survivors and groups makes it difficult to find a perfect balance. If we balance Killers around premade groups, solo Survivors get left behind. Meanwhile, if we balance around solo Survivors, Killers will have a rough time against groups. With that in mind, we’re working on some measures to bridge the gap between solo Survivors and premade groups, which will allow us to better balance Killers as a result.

We’re aiming to strike a balance between making the solo player(s) feel like they’re a part of the team without being overbearing. For example, we want to share key pieces of information, like “What are my teammates doing?”, but not too much info, like showing everyone’s exact location. To put it simply, the idea is to bring solo Survivors up to the same level, not give people excessive information that makes even premade groups stronger.

We want to share a very early peek at one potential way of closing this gap. Before we do, we want to stress that this is in the very early stages; we’re curious to hear what you think, but please keep in mind that it may change or even be scrapped entirely.

One feature we are experimenting with is a status icon next to each Survivor’s portrait in the HUD that lets you know what they are doing. This way, solo Survivors can base their decision around what their teammates are doing, and partial groups get a better idea of their solo teammates’ contributions, making everyone feel like more of a team. This is something that can already be easily conveyed with a quick callout over voice chat, but is currently not available to solo Survivors.

Once again, this is a very early preview- so early that we’re still discussing this internally. Feel free to share your thoughts, but please keep in mind that none of this is final or confirmed. Depending on how things go, this feature may be changed or scrapped entirely before it ever sees the light of day. We wanted to be open about this and keep you in the loop: The gap between solo Survivors and groups is not going under the radar, it’s something we’re actively working on.

    New Betas Tab

Sometimes we think up some experimental features that we’d love some feedback and data on, but they aren’t quite ready to release into the wild just yet. Enter the Betas tab!

Next time you head to the Settings menu, you’ll see a new Betas tab. Here, you’ll find betas for upcoming features that you can opt in or out of as you please. Want to share your thoughts on something early on? Awesome, opt in!

The icing on the cake: You’ll be rewarded with extra Bloodpoints for the first bunch of matches you play with a beta activated.

Unlike the Player Test Build, these Betas are also available on consoles. Everyone’s invited!

So, the only question is, what’s the first beta going to be? How about…

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/4H9ZQBKVMHFD/wiggle.png

    Wiggle Update

Last year, we changed struggling from button mashing to skill checks, making it much more accessible and a lot easier on your buttons & keys. We’ve been working on a similar update to wiggling as well, and we’re finally ready to share it with you.

Instead of mashing buttons, you’ll see a skill check while being carried- only this one has two zones and doesn’t go away when you hit it. Instead, hitting the skill check successfully will cause it to switch directions and gradually fill your wiggle meter. Keep hitting those skill checks to keep wiggling!

This interaction keeps wiggling interactive while requiring far fewer inputs and is much easier on your joysticks, making it more accessible to players with repetitive strain injuries. Additionally, each side of the skill check can optionally be bound to a different button to further increase the gap between repeated button presses.

This update will first appear in the betas tab, allowing you to opt in as you please.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/08PLAC60FA49/settings.png

    Toggle Interactions

On the topic of accessibility, another feature that will be debuting with this update is a toggle mode for interactions. This new option, which can be enabled in the Settings, makes holding a button for long periods of time a thing of the past. Simply press the button to start the interaction and press it again to stop it.

To go with it, you’ll also find a new option to cancel interactions by sprinting. Enabling this will automatically cancel actions and cause you to start running whenever you sprint.

Our goals with these new settings are to make Dead by Daylight more accessible, and to provide an alternative for players that don’t wish to hold a button for the entire length of an interaction. Plus, this frees up a hand so you can take a drink while hitting skill checks! (We’ll still predict when you’re taking a drink and give you a skill check, though, that’s our favourite feature.)

If you’ve made it this far, you’ve earned yourself a break from reading - check back tomorrow for part 2! But before you go, we have one last bit of news for today: The Player Test Build opens Wednesday, January 5th. See you there!

    The Dead by Daylight team

  • Don’t remember them stating offerings and it’s not written on the website either. But yeah I think it’s fair to assume that offerings are treated the same as the other stuff!

  • nah. They need Sheva because she is a greatly designed character.

but she was only playable for one game and didn’t really reappear in the series, and she doesn’t have any direct relation to Wesker as far as I remember.

though hopefully she (and Carlos) will find their way into the fog as legendary characters!

  • But I think it was confirmed Jake will be the one getting an exclusive outfit for those that buy the DatingSim 😉

I think they have at least and I'll be generous 4 things that the reward could be.

Blood points, auric cells, possibly a charm (dependant on what they count as cosmetic), or something else that's probably generic.

BP and auric ells aren't distinct really, charms are garbage in almost any video game, and I don't think it'll be anything big or exciting.

Mandy already confirmed it won’t be a. charm.

and obviously it shouldn’t be something too big or exciting or they will piss off those that didn’t have chars on P3 and create another Legacy situation…

  • @Bran said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2960611#Comment_2960611

I don't even think they've thought of the reward yet either.

lol. Then they wouldn’t even have a reason to mention it at all in the stream though, they could have just stated it will be some shards or BP.

No they have something in mind, it’s been confirmed it’s a ‚distinct‘ reward and it’s not normal cosmetic pieces nor charms. Maybe they still have a few different concepts and are debating which makes the most sense and works out best.

  • @Bran said:

I don't think bhvr even knows because otherwise there's no reason to be secretive about it.

I mean… yeah? That’s pretty much the reason they literally state often why they don’t share everything beforehand: things are not set in stone yet and even though it’s in development they can still change because things don’t work out as expected or might even not be fully designed yet.

  • Yes. I am choosing pain.

well. All survs I already have on P3-50 (with most having at least almost all perks unlocked at Tier I). For killers I have a few on P-3 but some weren’t even P-1 yet…

  • I try not to double post here but how dare y’all let this thread go to second page of off-topic??

    FD9AB18D-8F2D-4F02-AAAF-B5027FCA1517.jpeg

Baby Tapir is a little bit disappointed.

  • @_AdamFrancis_ said:

The killer is definitely Wesker, however the survivors are a mystery.

The only possible Survivors really are Rebecca and Ada Wong, as I don't think they would choose someone as recent as Ethan.

Wouldn’t Jake Muller also make sense (especially with Wesker in mind), as well as Sherry Birkin.

  • I wonder if we will get a new map with this chapter and if it will be in the same realm as RPD or another realm? There is obviously also the request by the community to split the current RPD (which is confirmed to get a major update), so we could finally get a licensed realm with multiple maps!

I hope for 2 RPD maps (left wing and right wing separated) and Project W coming with Raccoon City Streets - though I guess it’s unlikely as it wouldn’t be connected to Wesker… maybe Spencer’s Mansion?

Excuse me for not idolizing your deities.

The Stranger Things case is enough to realize that the contracts are in permanent disfavour with BHVR, which proves that the negotiations are always only one way.

I never even said it’s completely out of question that you might be right. But maybe stop acting like your assumptions are god-spoken. You are just assuming and you are not even considering that there might be other factors than BHVR that could have lead to the state we now have.

and stop acting like you know everything when you actually stated that the Scream license was in DbD without a survivor or map.

and how in the world is the Stranger Things case proving that the contracts are in disfavour for BHVR? Renewal of licenses works just like that and if it’s not getting renewed it can’t be sold anymore obviously, otherwise, everything else stayed in the game and BHVR can also make balance changes etc for Demo.

  • @Rokjer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2960240#Comment_2960240

My job is precisely to negotiate acquisition contracts for companies. I certainly know this universe better than you. I am convinced that BHVR does not know how to negotiate the acquisition of licenses correctly or is too stingy to put the desired price. What justifies my thought that they prefer the ease with laxer licenses on exploitation.

Sorry. But no. You have exactly zero proof for this statement and you are just making destructive accusations against BHVR based on your assumptions and nothing more. You were not part of the negotiations, you haven’t seen anything of the contracts etc.

  • @Rokjer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2960173#Comment_2960173

I understand your level. No need to keep answering.

It has nothing to do with me liking it or disagreeing with it.

you said that BHVR doesn’t properly know how to negotiate the use of a license but you don’t have any basis for this statement whatsoever and you are completely ignoring the fact that with these negotiations two sides are involved and BHVR has shown to bring in good licensed stuff and even renewing their existing licenses (except one) and even getting new content for almost all of them.

I won’t lie I’m personally not looking forward to the new RE chapter. I think the killer will Be cool. However having Claire and Chris just as skins while two other characters (they are background characters) that are not even close being in their level just rubs me the wrong way. From the dbd side, this is awesome. From a personal sided I’m not really all excited

yeah, completely understandable and you are not making wild accusations without any basis :)

  • It’s not been officially stated what happens to bloody cosmetics. But I think it’s highly unlikely they would remove the outfits and create another legacy situation…

So what ? We may have RE chapter every year because BHVR not properly known negotiate the use of a license and it's the only one that shows lax with them because it failed with RE : Resistance and it seeks a redemption ?

Well, between that and all of the game's current issues - which won't be fixed this year, you have to be naïve to believe - DBD will definitely need the RE fanbase to survive.

Well, people like you that are only complaining (instead of giving constructive criticism) are still here and supporting the game as well.

No, you don't understand or don't want to understand. What bothers me are the means implemented for a license that has ALREADY had its chapter (not to mention cosmetics) - when others have had almost nothing except a single character - in such a short period of time. And I haven't even mentioned the loss of Stranger Things.

Again, if you're happy, it'll make easy money for BHVR, but don't come asking me to be when it smacks of commercial ease.

You don’t understand that this is not solely up to BHVR it seems. It depends heavily on the license holder and what they actually are willing to let BHVR do with their license. Stranger Things not being renewed is very likely mostly on Netflix, NOES having the remake version and not getting anything more is diente the license holder being very restrictive, Valve/whoever owns L4D are apparently not willing to get monetary gain from this licensing this Bill -and the rift outfit- being free and there is not a paid chapter.

Another chapter, original or licensed, wouldn't have bothered me. In the case of RE, we already have one. So I know the RE fanbase has its...reputation, to be polite, but it's a loss of quality when BHVR prefers the easy choice over anything else. Instead of tackling a new yet untapped license or working on maps for previous incomplete chapters, we are left with the same old thing just right to satisfy a fan base that is content with little.

That doesn’t really make any sense. You also really can’t generalize the RE fanbase as RE is one of the biggest horror videogame franchises and has a pretty diverse fanbase.. just say you don’t like RE and would have preferred something else but don’t try to justify it by making up stuff.

and they kinda teased with the new Realm that older killers without maps might get a new map within this realm as it’s pretty much an amalgamation of memories.

Yeah the hair did cause that sometimes but they patched it before the 4.5 update.

First, what do you like about the new animations, theres like nothing good about them imo. They are just boring and expressionless.

Second. 360 are one of the most fun techs in the game and is why this game became popular arguably. Also if you can do them right you can spin any killer trust me. It adds another tech in the game and increases skill ceiling and makes the game more interesting. 360 were definitely the most fun thing to pull off back then and of course, like they always do, bhvr had to remove it. They always add stuff no one wants and remove fun stuff like reverses.

First, what do you like about the new animations, theres like nothing good about them imo. They are just boring and expressionless.

as I said, standing still and some facial expressions need improvements but I like most of the motion animations more as I think the old ones looked clunky and mostly unnatural. Not saying the new ones are perfect.

i don’t agree that 360s are or ever were that popular. And you really can’t spin any killer, well, maybe if you have a high ping as survivor you can.. but that’s just another reason why it’s stupid.

  • I don’t think it’s been directly confirmed but I don’t think it’s likely they will remove the bloody cosmetics!

you can still prestige after all and I would assume the bloody cosmetics will stay as rewards for P1-3

Excuse me for hoping for quality rather than quantity.

What does a second RE chapter have to do with less quality? If it wasn’t RE there would have been another original or licensed chapter. Didn’t sound like you were against the usual schedule of a new chapter every 3 months.

  • @Rokjer said:

I must be the only one who doesn't want a second RE chapter.

First, it creates too great an inequality of treatment between licenses. We will have 4 survivors (6 with skins), 2 killers and 2 RE maps. While some licenses don't even have a survivor (Scream, Hellraiser) or a killer (Left 4 Dead) or a map (Scream, Left 4 Dead, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Hellraiser, Ringu). Some original chapters also don't have a map (Blight, Twins, Trickster).

And secondly, you won't take away the impression from me that such a rapid choice of renewal (one year) is only a short-term marketing strategy to reproduce the explosion of players from the first chapter. It will work for a month, then the same story will happen again. All the players who came for RE will leave again. You don't fix a game with such questionable short-term solutions. It's just keeping the game under artificial respiration by playing on people's fanboyism. If we add to that the unfulfilled promises (still nothing on the improvement of the HUD for SoloQ, even no enunciation in the stream, nice), hard to believe in an improvement of the game in the long term.

Eh.. as you have already stated, there already is great inequality between licenses. And it doesn’t make sense to try to bring them all to the same level because if so they would have to go for the bare minimum. And we all don’t want that. Also keep in mind GhostFace in is not related to Scream at all, we literally don’t have a Scream license.

I am pretty sure that is just the announcement of the next chapter. The one with Wesker. Because, you know, W.

Oh wait. You are right. They were talking about a RE chapter Remake because someone can’t accept that their opinion might not be the one and only truth.

  • I depends heavily on the license holders and as far as i know DbD only has the licensing for the first movie only and there might be complex rights between different movies… I guess it’s more likely than ever getting Nightmare on Elm Street stuff, at least we got one outfit for Myers and Laurie after release for the shop. But I wouldn’t hold my breath for more.

That's the question, what later means?

    Anniversaries are in summer

They couldn’t commit to a specific date so i guess it’s either one of the next two midchapter updates or the next chapter, which are all kinda in the summer?

as to prestige rewards, we don’t know. Mandy has confirmed in some threads that it won’t be a cosmetic or charm iirc. But anything else they will talk about later on.

  • Meta perk changes for me definitely. This should actually have an effect on how matches go and feel.

Prestige system is nice and all but… I reached pretty much a point where I don’t am personally that affected by the grind (still very much appreciated and getting to play new characters will feel nicer as you will not be as limited)

  • @jajay119 said:

Thanks for the summary. Not really fussed about many of the announcements. I think they're all a bit beige.

I don't mind Moris for final survivors becoming base kit.. but I do think it need to be compensated equally with a buff for the final survivor to have a better chance of getting out. Especially if its now a case of once you're down, you're done.

They say they've been listening to the community but this has been asked for A LOT and it's not an outrageous request imo.

But the last survivor has already the chance of escaping through hatch and if killer closes it the survivor still has the chance to escape through one of the two gates that the killer has to patrol.

  • Wasn’t Neas pink hair the prime example of hair bugging out and extending into every direction?

i do agree some animations - especially standing still - looked better before. But over all i prefer the new animations. Expressions could also need some further improvements (Aces smirk is still worse than before the update)

360s are also just dumb, they are better now and should still not be as they are. If you pull it off you really just outplayed a noob killer or aimdressed controller killer…

  • It’s 8 m around any lockers on the whole map. Could be especially cool on teleport killers and especially Dredge that can directly teleport there. Or as already mentioned if you are having a hiding surv it may help

in 8 meter ? Comment by Mooks
  • They didn’t say every Meta perk will just be nerfed, have they? They said that there will be slight base game adjustments and they will take into consideration why those perks are meta.

I don't think they'll make it basekit, but they might do stuff like fixing spawns and removing the spawn offerings. Having all survivors spawn together against 2/2 or 3/1 or even all separated, would be a huge game changer

But anyway they didn't say anything about the changes, just that there will be many of them. Let's just be patient and see :)

of course it becoming basekit is only one possibility. I can very well see spawns getting fixed as well (I think even Mandy has talked about how spawns might need some adjustments some time ago)

  • @SmokeTheScrapper said:

you mean sharing, why I think they made this extra announcement?

Exactly, because somehow I understood parts of it, but I don't really see it as coherent.

well. First of all, it’s their first revealed LGBTQ+ character in the game since the start in 2016

It is, however, even if many would have expected something completely different. However, it still wouldn't have needed this sweeping speech, would it?

for the longest time they have stated they didn’t want to reveal sexual orientations and the likes. Though they didn’t hold true to that as they have at least mentioned heterosexual relationships of various natures multiple times since Nurses introduction thus they kinda excluding LGBTQ+ content and treating it differently to heterosexual content.

Is it wrong to note at this point that they have not really revealed any sexual orientation? I mean, apart from existing spouses and relationships that used to exist, but that doesn't really mean anything.

That was one of the parts of the discussion that I couldn't really understand. They've only really announced and confirmed David, and no one knows if they're not going to develop into a different sexuality.

Whereas I can understand that it is a bit, let's say unfair, that there were no same-sex relationships or polyamorous relationships with both sexes in all this time.

So yes, they haven't fully complied.

Then almost two years ago they made an announcement that they have reviewed their stand on this as they have seen and regret their mistake here.

I can understand that. Especially when there was a lot of whining about it in the meantime. It must have been annoying. I mean, that's what someone says who belongs somewhere in this matter, but who is relatively indifferent to it. So, I don't know how people felt about it, I just thought it was over the top. But of course, they didn't adhere to what they stated before one hundred per cent and expressed remorse for it and said that they were doing something about it so that there would be equality again.

After that they have announced they are collaborating with GaymerX to make sure their first representation won’t be a stereotypical or bad representation and they don’t make unintentional mistakes of any sorts.

For example, I only found out about it after it was announced and was a bit sceptical because I hadn't heard many good things about this organisation. My first thought at the time was that they could have sought the opinions and experiences of the community independently of an official organisation. But that would probably have been too much effort, in retrospect. I mean, you would have to rummage around in LGBTQ+ forums and statistically analyse what the whole crowd would have said there. I wouldn't have relied on the opinion of self-proclaimed experts, but well, what I've heard clearly plays into it.

In that context, though, I can understand it. If they themselves have no one who can offer them experience in the field, or only insufficient experience, then it is clear that they turn to someone or, in that sense, to an organisation that has experience in this.

Now i see their reveal as a follow up to these announcements and as a way to showcase the results of their collaboration. Also it’s the best way to even acknowledge that they worked with GaymerX on this, otherwise they couldn’t really acknowledge or appreciate their collaboration!

Makes more sense to me now. If they had just published something, the organisation would have disappeared and one could have wondered where the collaboration was.

I have to admit at this point that I only ever heard bits and pieces of it and was therefore always a bit confused and didn't understand it and therefore always assumed that it wasn't quite what it was supposed to be. Reading it again summarised in this way has definitely helped me in my understanding of the matter and in forming my opinion. I think I should stop questioning my opinion towards Behaviour, only that of people who have shown their excessive joy about this announcement in inappropriate ways. Many thanks for that.

Is it wrong to note at this point that they have not really revealed any sexual orientation? I mean, apart from existing spouses and relationships that used to exist, but that doesn't really mean anything.

it’s not wrong but on the other hand, it’s kinda never expected for heterosexuality to be revealed. I mean, have you ever heard of someone coming out as straight? And even then, it’s not really set in stone, David might still later on in his life discover more aspects of himself and his sexuality. Him being gay was a significant part of his story, he isn’t bi, he had to pretend to like women.

Also, your criticism of the announcement is still valid, i wasn’t trying to completely invalidate it or say you are wrong. I just tried to find reasonable arguments for their approach but as I have said I am not 100 percent behind it either.
