I should have clarified, I don't take issue with the grind for add-ons, Moris, etc. Just perks.
I don’t doubt.
I don’t take issue with grind for those things either, but they are still part of the reason as to why the grind is so bad.
-
Because of the so-called:
“Blood Point Economy”
Which is basically their cop out response for unbalanced mechanics like Moris, overly powerful add-ons, and certain items.
They created a poor foundation for balance when they made certain add-ons and items with the idea you shouldn’t have them every game.
-
Once dedicated servers are in, and optimization is at good level, then sure.
Crossplay between Switch, Xbox, and PC wouldn’t be a stretch. For anyone concerned, Xbox mandates that it can be opted out, plus other games have options for “Console Only” Crossplay.
Playstation probably wouldn’t join, considering Sony’s stance on Crossplay. They’ve only cherry picked a handle of games for Crossplay.
-
Lots of people are having this problem.
Problem is, a lot of people, like myself, were having the same problem with the new matchmaking.
My queue times increased by several times with the new matchmaking. So just know that not everyone was happy with it.
-
When Bill was a Steam exclusive, it sucked, but it didn’t matter too much because it’s just cosmetic for the most part.
Console still gets all the perks (whether you want them or not).
But a new exclusive Killer and Map would be going too far, and most likely would not be as profitable as Behavior would like.
-
It could have been an add-on.
Freddy and Myers have Obsession add-ons.

Yeah. A lot of things about this game could be heavily improved if bE wasn't so stubborn.
Could be stubbornness, could be money issues. I don’t know, unfortunately there’s not much transparency in that sense.
-
Watching someone do it is probably the best way to go.
Doesn't really matter who.
Just find someone you like, and make sure you’re paying attention to how and why they win or lose a chase.

The thing is, most solos (including me) want a balanced experience without the need of voice com. If devs are just putting in voice com for everyone, they will 100% not close the gap between swf and solos cuz "you solos have voice coms now, use it 4heads" but I by myself don't want to use it. I want balance without voice coms.
That's why many (including me) are currently against voice coms.
I guess the best way to describe it, is that it’s too simple of a fix. It doesn’t really consider a lot of other concerns, nor does it match up to most of DBD’s competitors.

Wow I was not aware of this. I'll be trying it out just to see how well it works.
Yeah it’s a really awesome feature.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t work great for everybody, but still useful even when it’s not being perfect.
-
Survivor:
- Borrowed Time
- Distortion
- Prove Thyself
- We’ll Make It
Killer:
- Barbecue & Chili
- Overcharge
- Knock Out
- Sloppy Butcher
These are what I mostly use, because I find them to be very versatile.
-
Of course it’s possible.
Will Sony allow it? Probably not.
Our best hope for console crossplay is between Xbox and Switch, although Behavior already shut down that idea for the moment at least.

Well, I see. You make a fair point.
I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to come off as rude. I’m just frustrated about how much Dead by Daylight lacks in comparison to other team oriented games.
It’s not like it came out a long time ago, it’s not the newest title, but it surely could’ve learned from its peers in the industry.

You ever play Siege? Or any competitive game with voice chat for that matter? None of that is a problem. People can choose whether to use the chat or not. They can mute, they can talk, they can do whatever the hell they want. I really don't understand the big deal.
You ever play any of those competitive games?
The reason why turning off voice chat isn’t such a big deal, is because those games already have secondary means of communication in place.
Rainbow Six Siege has drones for coms, pings for coms, and the name/location of everyone on your team is constantly on your screen. Along with a multitude of other useful information coming your way in the form of automatic voice lines.
Dota, League of Legends, and Smite. All of these MOBAs have integrated text chats or even VGS where you can have your character say a wide arrange of coms like: enemy missing, enemy incoming, attack this, they’re behind us etc..
All while also having a simple, but effective ping system in addition to all that.
The reason why it isn’t such a big deal to turn off voice chat in these games isn’t because quick communication isn’t important.
It’s because the developers had enough foresight to have multiple means of secondary communication built in. Where players don’t have to communicate every second through voice commands, without being put at a huge disadvantage.
-
You don’t really need to build around it, it’s a good stand alone perk.
So long as your fighting a killer with a normal Terror Radius it’s always good. Faster actions and more Blood Points.
Plus you can look at the icons and use it as a pseudo killer tracker.
-
You know I get the complaints about how long the matchmaking is or the DCs.
But the ranks have been broken forever. Stuff like this isn’t new.

@ModernFable What do you think about my proposal?
Kindred is fine, although it’s not my favorite idea. And I don’t like NOED, I don’t think it’s all that intuitive of a solution or fun.
I get new ideas, but here are some old ones I had: (although I’d replace the 3rd one with Buckle Up)

Solos need the same amount of info of SWF, and killers to be buffed to SWF strength, by adding passive skills: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/46538/definitive-solution-to-bridge-the-swf-killer-solos-gaps
I’ve gone over some possible solutions in older, but I would agree with the direction of buffing Solo coms and then killers.

Ahhh their ping system. Yeah I like that.
Or did you mean they actually have voice to text now?
Apex’s ping system is amazing, along with the various helpful voice lines.
But on the topic of voice to text, they’ve always had it.
Just go to “Settings” and in “Audio” there’s an option for “Convert Incoming Voice to Chat Text.”
It’s been there since day 1.

The one in recent memory would be Apex Legends. That game has an astounding amount of tools for cooperating without talking.

I agree, I was just saying that in the event of adding voice comms, having an option to disable it altogether instead of individual muting, would be a great addition so that people arent FORCED to hear what is said, but allows if wanted.
They could also do what some other games have, where you have the option to mute the audio but have it be transcribed into text.
-

I'm glad you're thinking about every situation, but I'm pretty sure every game with voice comms works even for people who cant speak. They may not be able to give info, but they can absolutely hear and use it. And not to be rude, but if you are deaf and mute, CHANCES are you wont be playing a team based pvp game. However, even then, the % of dead mute players would be so low compared to the rest, that the change would still be overall beneficial. If voice comms were decided to be useful in a general sense.
It works to an extent, but one way communication can only go so far.
Plus I don’t see anything wrong in striving for better communication for everyone.
If it was highly requested, I wouldn’t mind having voice chat as a supplement to other communication tools. However, I think creating mechanics that’ll help everyone no matter what should take precedence.
-
@NoShinyPony said:
It looks like players pretty much agree that buffing solo survs + killers and not nerfing SWF is the way to go.
The next discussion is: Voicecom for everyone or more information (like base kit Kindred)?
I'd prefer to have more information. @Black_Fence made some good points.
Voice Chat is one of the few things Behavior is actively against. So I’d rather suggest something else.
Even if it they weren’t, simply introducing Voice Chat creates a lot of questions.
What if players are forced to mute? What if players don’t have a mic? What if they don’t want to talk? What if they physically can’t speak?
-
So you want a theatre mode?
-
@Larcz said:
You all write only about solo and swf but what with gen rush lose chase too fast becose of fov and soo on like end game...How i supose feel im power role as killer when i got first hook and survs got 2/5 gens done #########? And about perks bulid in like passive well i need at least 4 to rid off problem with palets next perks for gens etc...
Because it’s all about building a foundation. Right now there’s a large issue with raising killer power against SWF, because then Solos suffer tremendously.
So for instance, in the case of buffing Solos to match SWF:
You can then buff the killer with the expectation that they’ll be fighting against SWF levels of communication all the time.
That's when pressing issues like generators, chases, and so on can now be addressed without worry.
-
@Saint_Ukraine said:
I have a better proposition:
Create an in-game voice-chat (and maybe text-chat) system. Boom. I have just solved everyone's problems. No need for all this bs.
While that would indeed close the gap completely between SWF and Solos. Behavior themselves have stated that they don’t want to take that approach.
They don’t want to force players into hearing any distracting and unhelpful sounds that may come from someone’s mic.
It’s actually one of the few things that they’ve been pretty decisive about. So with that in mind, it’s better to look at other solutions than to suggest something they’re openly adamant against.
-

That's actually really cool, though I'm not sure what use it has beyond marking the Hatch and I guess which Gen you're on.
As you said it’s useful for marking the hatch, but it’s also good for preventing 3 Gen situations.
You can mark generators that are too close together, that way the killer can’t patrol as easily late game.
-
It wouldn’t work well.
Distortion works with Object of Obsession for the first 30 seconds, and then all of your stacks are gone.
Mettle of Man would be the same way for whenever it activates.
-
No it is not reportable.
-
@NeaJovovich said:
Yeah, I agree. When I first started DbD, I wanted voice comms.
But I realized how nice and peaceful it's been not having jerks calling me obscene things or insulting my voice.
@ModernFable you've made some really good points.
Things like Buckle Up, who's in a chase, and a totem counter should be basekit stuff.
While I have enjoyed the mystery and anxiety "not knowing" has provided, it's lead to WAY MORE frustration than excitement and enjoyment.
These are just some quick examples to keep the post short. There’s a lot of methods to help out Solo players, if that’s what Behavior chooses to do.
I feel like that would be the best thing, but even if they went in another direction, that could work too.

That would be horrific the last thing I want is a team of brain dead survivors that did ######### all all game yelling "COME GET ME OFF THE HOOK EVEN THOUGH HE IS CAMPING ME" calling me every name under the sun or being punished because I am not chatting to them back. I want to play solo a lot of the time and I am happy to not be buffed unless the killers get a load more buffs. I think as a solo I want to know when I am with a 2man or 3 man swf so I know they are gunna be playing alturisitic. I want to know how healed people are on the floor (one of the reasons I would use the new perk) and I want to have built in kindred. Those simple things wouldn't buff swf too much and would make solos lives significantly better.
That’s one of the reasons Behavior hasn’t implemented voice chat.
At least that’s what they’ve said on stream.
-

@ModernFable I'm on Xbox. I send a GG to every survivor and killer I don't have blocked that doesn't DC. 70% of the time I get a GG back. 10% of the time people get salty because they lost or thought I did something toxic (even if I were to say "sorry for the tunnel but I had to because X reason"). 20% of the time people don't say anything back.
Yeah, I have not had such kind percentages, so I just leave people be.
-
@thesuicidefox said:
@ModernFable Saying GG when you win isn't taunting. It's good sportsmanship. Saying GG EZ or something like that is taunting. People that think just saying GG is taunting are generally the toxic ones.
That’s one opinion I suppose.
And maybe on PC it’s different because the chat is right there, so it’s like a group conversation of sorts.
However on console at least, I’ve found that most are annoyed when you reach out and message them. So if they didn’t message me then I don’t intend to bother them.
-
@PiiFree said:

I understand that, the question is, what does it take for the opposite site to get a gg from you? Do you have to win to drop a gg? Or is a fair game enough?
When I make them laugh.
For instance, once I sat in basement as Insidous Leatherface all game because I was really bored, but didn’t feel like switching games.
*pop* *pop* *pop*
The Gens flew by and soon all 5 were done, when suddenly I heard some footsteps creaking on their way down.
Greed.
Winning wasn’t enough, they needed more, but this was my basement and all that lied within it was also mine.
I could not hear them nor see their face naturally, but the panic in their movement as they realized they got more than they bargained for entering my domain.
A single swing of my chainsaw was all it took, before the fool now laid on my hook. Then one by one, they all came in, till two found new residence in my lair.
After that, the remaining two swiftly ran out the gate and one messaged me:
”Protecting the basement?”
I relied:
”Correct”
They then thanked me for keeping the basement a safe place, and we went on our merry way.
-
It's different from person to person, but the proper etiquette as I’ve learned it is:
Saying “good game” is to come from those who lost or not at all.
So if they don’t want to say it, then that’s that. The winner doesn’t initiate.
Otherwise it may come off as taunting.

Yep, what a waste of potential. Devs could get out so much more out of DbD, but they don't care at all.
I'm sure they care and are passionate, just incompetent and inexperienced.
-
There’s a lot of problems with it.
Survivors have to rely on each other to score pips consistently. Killers have to rely on survivors not quitting or dying on hook to pip. If generators are done too quick or everyone dies too soon, then no one will pip.
Additionally, more players are being matched together because of the pipping requirements. Plus to top it all off, there’s still no incentive to rank up, so why bother?

maybe when last year 2.0 is out in way distant future. That will scratch that itch but there really only one on market for now.
You also could have a good studio behind you and still fall on ass. Felt we happy few did that when gearbox partnered with them.
Oh I don’t just mean a publisher switch. Although that could certainly help with exposure and name recognition.
I’m talking about a whole different and more experienced development team.

Yeah, in no way is it as detailed, but to say conveying information is impossible is a stretch. It's more that survivors dont interact and think with each other when paired randomly.
Conveying that level of information is, without voice coms.
And yes, people not wanting to work together is a part of it.
That being said, there’s still various changes that could help everyone, without magically changing how everyone plays.
-
@Carpemortum said:

For 6 seconds and then nobody knows where it is. You cant give your swf an EXACT location either. Just a general area.
Perhaps, but you can be much more detailed.
“Myers is leaving the Gas Station and heading towards the Shack”
You’re never going to convey that much information with a few points, especially in the span of a few seconds.

I'm one if the persons who believes that bringing swf down to solo isnt working, just because voice communication is to powerful and compensate to much.
But I don't see any attempt to that direction or the other which is really frustrating.

No no.
I don’t mean licensed characters for the game.
I mean I want the Dead by Daylight IP itself to be purchased by a more experienced and capable studio.
