  • Genrush is easy to counter. You just kill the survivors.

Scream, Blair With Project, Candyman, Army of Darkness, and Silence of The Lambs all came out in the 90s. We already have pretty much all iconic horror slasher characters from the 70-80s.

Same reason why Ghostface and Demogorgon are coming into the game.

I think that alot of people would love to see Pennywise in the game because of how creative his power can be.

Blair Witch isn't a slasher film, though.

  • I don't even know who Pennywise is.

  • Hey it wasn't me! Someone else brought out the dark arts.

  • Personally I think Cruel Limits should be buffed to affect the entire map.

The perk is pretty useless as it is.

    Yes.

We'll Make It stacks up to only +100% with ITSELF. It does not mention anywhere that the overall healing speed cap is +100% in total. Anything you add on top of that will work because it's only the perk that itself is capped. No making 3 rescues with tier 3 of the perk to gain +300% healing speed -- it will only stay up to a maximum of 100%.

When I ran We'll Make it (+100%), with Botany Knowledge (+33%) and while having the new Dying Light effect on me (+33%), with a Leader Buff (+25), I had +191% healing speed and was healing nearly triple the speed than normal.

Are you 100% sure on this? I remember someone saying healing bonuses are capped at 100%.

And I just realized this is a big thread necro.

  • BK is better than We'll Make It in my opinion.

You can use it on yourself along with Self Care and/or a medikit for some really fast heals.

We'll Make it is much more limited.

There's a hardcap of 100% increase so you can't stack too much of these perks and bonuses together.

  • So.... do you know what a safe pallete is?

Tbh, I always run Spine Chill cuz I'm blind as crap.

It's a good perk and I often run it. But I don't always run it. And you know that feeling when you took out Spine Chill and Iron Will and then you hear Spirit's vacuum.

I'm a stealth survivor in general and I prefer to stealth, but sometimes I don't and run funky builds for fun. And I had to learn looping anyway. But when I was always running Spine Chill and Iron Will my spirit matches were a lot easier. Not easy, just easier than if I didn't run those perks.

  • @FishFry247 said:

A lot of people don't like going against her since it is for the most part a coin flip to most people, And since you can't loop her like most killers they don't try to find out how to counter her and instead complain about how she is "broken". And to be honest I don't like going against spirit that much ether but I don't DC or cry about it after game. She is a hard killer to counter but I'd rather go against a Good nurse than a good spirit.

Nurse is a lot easier to counter in general compared to Spirit. Nurse is only the best when in the hands of a really good player. Even good nurses can be countered, either with stealth or juking, or you can even screw them over in a grove of trees sometimes.

  • @MysticAdvisor said:

It’s because the toxic survivor mains can’t loop if they can’t see you.

And yes she does have counter play.

I would like to scream iron will and spine chill to the abyss but face it no one will actually listen, instead they just scream for spirit nerfs.

You know same thing with nurse, the only way to avoid her is stealth really. ( which no one uses anyway lol)

Also if she stands still just walk away or run.

Iron Will and Spine Chill aren't "counterplay" when you go into the match and don't have them.

Survivors can't exactly prep for the killer they face, you know.

  • Spirit is the hardest killer to fight in general.

While Nurse is more powerful at the highest levels, there aren't many God Nurses out there who can really bring out her full potential.

Spirit, while still a high-skill killer, has a much lower level of skill needed to be very effective. And effective she is. She is probably the best killer to choose if you want to have consistent quick chases. Even without add-ons she is strong and hard to beat if the killer is even just halfway competent.

  • @Apackawolves said:

The pallets are not unsafe if you drop them quickly and keep going, which is exactly what people are doing. There’s enough pallets on the map that survivors can run from pallet to pallet, and take the killer on minutes long chases. And then the killer has to go back and waste another 30 or 40 seconds breaking the pallets. I don’t know why bloodlust is even a talking point here. If relying on bloodlust to get a hit is the standard for this map, you’re gonna lose. Because it eats up far too much time to justify a single hit. You’re basically trading a gen for a hit at that point. That’s not a winning strategy. Just wait until this map has been around for a couple months and people know pallet locations and loops like back of their hand, it gonna be much worse. The only silver lining killers currently have, is that survivors aren’t familiar with the generation spawn locations, so that extends the match a little bit. But, it won’t last.

I don't think you understand what "safe pallete" means.

There is like two safe pallets in the map? And they're both in the same room. Once you go through those none of the pallets are safe.

  • Steve's Perks unfortunately are pretty bad. The best of the lot is Camaraderie and it's still not that good.

It's a shame because Steve has one of the better models we have.

His green shirt is actually not bad for camou and he's not very noisy. And his voice when he gets hooked is hilarious. And best of all we have Scoops Ahoy.

Steve is actually worth getting for his skin, but his perks are pretty crappy.

  • It looked good on paper but after trying it it sucks.

It's a bit like Deliverance, but I actually think Deliverance is better. I went through five matches before I could even get to use Second Wind.

You won't always get the chance to heal another survivor in matches, and even when you do sometimes it doesn't activate because you need to do all the healing yourself. They should have given it a bar that fills up each time you do a healing action instead.

The way the perk works right now it's useless and pathetic.

Inner Strength is far, far superior.

  • @tehshadowman33 said:

    Wait, there's actually differences? Confused.

There are things you can do with a mouse and keyboard that you can't really do on a gamepad. At least not on the same level you can do it on PC. It's why Nurse is the strongest killer on PC but not on consoles.

The mindgames are different because you can't moonwalk mindgame on consoles the way you do on PC.

  • No she's not.

  • LOL. I would play Ghost Face just for fun. I like stealth killers.

I swear they need to fix the reveal mechanics though. I get that if it's too sensitive his power becomes 100% useless but I should be able to stop him from stalking me if I'm staring at him all the time during a chase.

  • I always cleanse totems HG or not. Hahhaha! If we get exposed sorry to my friends who got downed.

  • His portals are good. There are people complaining they're useless, but I've fought some Demos who did a number on me sneaking up behind me thanks to the portals.

I haven't actually played Demogorgon yet, will get around to that after I'm done getting all of Steve and Nancy's perks onto my mains.

  • @Mister_xD said:

currently queue times for both sides are very high.

the devs did confirm there is an issue with the matchmaking system, so i guess it has something to do with that.

    it should get hotfixed soon

This is incorrect. Nobody on the PC is having survivor queue problems. At least, nobody has mentioned anything here or anywhere.

    Survivors queue in seconds.

Killers measure their queue in minutes.

There are only a very few exceptions to this.

  • Cruel Limits is extremely weak compared to Bamboozle.

You control when and where you deploy Bamboozle.

Cruel Limits only works when survivors finish gens. Frankly it's a crap perk. It's like, on the level of Deja Vu and Dark Sense.

  • I honestly haven't even felt either of the two new status effects.

But then, I haven't been runnign Spine Chill while leveling Nancy, so that's to be expected.

  • Sounds like an absolute slog.

I wouldn't switch if I had that much invested in the XBone.

Even if the game is different on the PC (the maneuevers you see on both sides are very different for PC) I wouldn't want to start over from scratch.

  • Let's talk about the elephant in the room.

A lot of people wanted a lighter gamer because killers couldn't find survivors in the shadows.

This is the main reason you aren't going to see the return to the old lighting.

  • My code is simple.

Never camp. Never tunnel. Always play seriously but if you're gonna let them go for whatever reason show mercy at the end.

I actually usually just let survivors go because I'm a survivor main. But I've had cases where i stomped the survivors so bad they suicided on hook. Why they do that, I was gonna let them farm and leave since I already finished my killer daily.

  • @The_Manlet said:

Try running We'll Make It. Unless the killer is very close only a moron would refuse that heal. It would be faster than Inner Strength and allow them to keep the heal for an emergency.

I've actually had a lot of cases where I saved the banked totem because everyone was running We'll Make It for some reason! I don't get why the sudden in crease in We'll Makers but not gonna complain.

  • @Chudakka said:

    ^

I like the perk its a powerful perk that doesn't feel unfair like the old mettle of man (please rework mettle of man!)

The only beef I have with Inner strength is that I can almost never get second wind to activate. This perk has become meta for a lot of survivors that most healing is done in lockers these days.

Second Wind and Inner Strength work against each other.

Not really. Second Wind is just a bad perk. It's harder to activate because you have a limited window to use it.

It's similar to Deliverance. If you don't get your unhook first and heal someone before your second hook, you never get to use it. And it only works if the killer doesn't tunnel you -- and killers tend to tunnel hooked survivors to eliminate you.

I'm currently leveling Steve and have both perks. I use Inner Strength maybe twice a match. I had to run like five matches before I even got Second Wind to proc.

Second Wind is just a much inferior option. I thought Second Wind looked good on paper but in practice it's junk.

  • Let's not spread the word you know this is gonna get nerfed if we keep this up.

  • Hawkins is easy for killers (except Nurse it seems). The pallets are unsafe and the map is hard for Survivors to lose the killer and juke around.

The pallets are mostly unsafe and there is no way to loop almost all of them. The corridors are too narrow for that.

The only real problem you'll have is if Survivors are all using BL, in which case there are a lot of plays they can run you around.

  • @DocOctober said:

Indeed, it's almost as if the game expected you to use juking and losing line-of-sight to win chases.

Which would be good... if it were actually viable.

It works on low-skill killers who are not very good at tracking or prediction, but it never really works even in purple ranks and only rarely works even in just Green.

  • I actually need to get back to Overwatch. I haven't even tried Sigma out yet.

Brick Bastion you say? I haven't checked the new skins in a month.

  • I played this way back when I started. I ran We're Gonna Live Forever, a Dead Perk, for ages until I got a couple of Survivors to P3 and unlocked all perks on them.

Then I realized I was just screwing myself, so I stopped using the useless WGLF perk and just started playing with dumb builds to have fun.

Once you have achieved your goals there's no point in playing for Blood Points. I don't know how long it'll take for a killer to unlock all killers and perks (should take a long time) but I finished with my Survivor journey of unlocking 2 survivors back at around 400 hours I think.

I also have a few killers setup the way I want, but nowhere near comprehensive in terms of perks.

  • @Kilmeran said:

@Zagrid I know last week or so Peanits said they made some adjustments. Which, at least for me on PC, got my matches back to normal unless they were an obvious SWF exploiting the fact that whoever creates the SWF is the defining rank for the killer in the match.

But once the DLC launched, I was back to pot-luck on matchmaking again.

When they said they made the adjustments, I noticed my lobbies took longer to start compared to the week prior. Wasn't a huge change; prior my survivor games would find a lobby in under 5 seconds. After the change it could take 10 seconds to a minute. With the minute being the extreme.

Unfortauntely, it didn't actually fix the issue I was still getting mismatched ranks at this time, and it only got worse after Stranger Things hit.

  • I hate how BHVR caved in to the "popular demand" of it last year.

Sadly it seems a lot of people prefer the bright look, which baffles me to no end.

Ruin does nothing to slow the game down. The fact that you think it does is laughable.

The ONLY reason that Ruin works as absurdly well as it does, is because low rank morons spend ######### ages Urban Evasioning around the map searching for a totem instead of doing the generators. Either that, or they're just so ridiculously bad at the game that they can't do gens and/or they're extremely unlucky and get Hex skill checks every 5 seconds. That's literally the only reason why Ruin works.

In every other scenario, Ruin pops instantly and you're forced to play with 3 perks, OR the survivors literally just don't give a ######### about Ruin and powered through it. And don't give BS that none of these scenarios happen because I've been the survivor/killer player in every single one of them. Even today, I've done gens up to 50% or 75% without getting a single Hex skill check. Ruin is a ######### joke and everyone knows it.

As for the other stall perks that you brought up, most of them are either too situational to be used effectively (Thrilling, Surge) or wouldn't have worked against those survivors. Overcharge isn't really a great alternative for stalling unless you get potatoes. Surveillance and Pop might have been helpful, but they would have done absolutely nothing to help at the start of the game.

Now, I will concede that CI and Discordance can get work done, however. You presumably watched the video, you saw how those survivors were hyper focused on generators. Discordance wouldn't have helped because all of them spread out, and as Caretaker said CI would have just forced them onto other generators and he maaaaaaaaybe would have gotten 1-2 hooks before the first three gens were completed. But even that is a stretch.

The truth is, Legion is ultimately a low tier killer and any survivor with two clumps of braincells to knock together would have kicked his ass in that match. If he had run NOED and CI? Yeah sure, he would have gotten at least 1-2 kills, maybe even a 4k if they screwed up badly enough. But ANY killer can be genrushed to hell if you know how to play correctly. I've seen it happen so many goddamn times and done it myself so many goddamn times over the past 2 years, and it's frankly unbelievable to me that it's STILL this bad.

This is a ridiculous statement that only a newb killer who has never played Survivor can possibly say.

Sorry, but you are so out of touch with the game that nothing you say is convincing.

Ruin is a huge deal at every rank except at the absolute highest where everyone hits great skill checks with ease (these players are not common). Sometimes it gets blow up early, sometimes it wins you the game all by itself. There's a degree of luck involved, but saying it doesn't slow the game down is a stupid statement at best, a downright ignoramus' sentiment at worst.

Even if Ruin blows up within the first minute of the game it still probably stopped that clump of survivors who spawned next to a gen from rushing the first gen.

I can't count the number of times I wanted rush the first gen with the guy beside me who had Prove Thyself but couldn't because one or both of us was messing up the skill checks every few seconds.

There's a reason why like 80% (or more I don't know) of killers run Ruin, because it is effective and it really does slow the game down. And this is true even in the purple and red ranks.

  • @Caretaker said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/699423#Comment_699423

I don't EXPECT to win. I TRY to win. That game was at rank 13. Not red ranks, rank 13, and my gens got rushed that fast. I had no control over the game, and as the devs put it, "It is the killer's trial." Yet I had no power to win that match. I don't like using addons, cuz I like playing just the base killer. Rarely I'll slap some on to screw around or test something to see how it works, but otherwise I like to play base, only perks.

But against a survivor like you, that means Ruin isn't doing anything. It just stops skill checks extra progression assuming you hit a great, which is what? 2%? Now imagine all 4 hitting greats, or 3 more realistically. If Ruin doesn't blow immediately.

I had a game earlier. Wraith had Ruin, and a few stall perks. He was bouncing around hooking everyone. Using Small Game I found Ruin super late. Once Ruin popped I just did the gens, and we all got out. There was nothing he could do. Didn't have NOED, and I popped the totems. He was keeping up pressure, but I pressured harder by staying safe, and just focusing gens. I wasted so much time and he was pinging ponging hooks, but even screwing around I had time to do 5 totems, and 5 gens before he could kill anyone. Even basement hooking and putting down pressure.

I had a game against a Plague where I let someone almost hit stage 2 to get a gen done, still had time to run out and grab her. Only reason I died was a stupid play to finish a daily, and teammates that healed immediately after getting sick. I could've played immersed, I found the hatch, it was a free win for me even though I only had Mettle. I was safe that entire game. Even on Thompson which has a lot of open area for Plague to work with, especially with Corrupt.

Good survivors will not let you play the game. Unless you can swing some pressure through altruism, or they make some really stupid plays, or get cocky, they're getting out. Playing against potatoes isn't a good judge of how powerful a killer is or how good they are as a player. If I see the killer patrol, I just do gens. That's 3 minutes, I can do at minimum 2 gens while they struggle/my team tries to unhook. They probably will unhook too, which means I can afk on another gen while they go down. There's a reason I really enjoy running No Mither in my main build.

If you are getting beat at Rank 13 then that just shows you have a long way to go to get good at this game.

I mean seriously? Crying about imbalance and how the game is rigged against you at such a low rank when you aren't even an average (median) player in terms of skill? Come on.

Your gens are getting rushed because you're not exerting enough map pressure.

I just finished a game with a Huntress who killed all us in under two minutes. Yeah, she was using a Pink Hatchet, but if you want to feel like you "have no control" Survivors can get curbstomped a lot worse than killers.

These things happen. You need to accept that you lack skill and get better at the game. Crying that the game is survivor-sided shows that you have no interest in improving or even learning the game.

You need to accept that sometimes you outplayed, and just move on to the next game.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ca80ZwpsHs&list=PLA3nVFkhV4EKnLj2TN5-5ibJlSAc0XyGs&index=44

One chase, 3 gens. Even if I had found Claud, or dropped trying to look for her I'd still have lost 3 gens minimum before getting a single hook. Of course after this I was told to just apply pressure, how easy the game was, etc, etc. Please, explain to me how I was supposed to pressure those gens, and keep up the chase, and somehow prevent them from doing that within the first minute?

Also, before anyone says it, don't say just run Ruin. That wouldn't solve anything. Every time I have run ruin it blows at the beginning of the match, or the gens pop anyway cuz they're not rank 20s who can't hit skillchecks. I get that Legion is arguably one of the worst killers in the game now due to the pitiful "rework" but I don't think any killer outside of maybe Nurse or Billy would've done anything here. Even then plenty of safe pallets and loops so I still probably would've had a rough time.

Notice how that was the first instinct, just run to the pallet. Some didn't even try to run the loop, just sat at the pallets, not on the end to extend the chase. What I can do then? Nothing, I can eat the pallet, or run after you. There is nothing I can do in that situation, I just lose. I can't even catch up to anyone. I played the second Frenzy badly cuz for some reason my game was running sluggish and I haven't played them in a while so that's on me, but there's just nothing I could do in this match.

Yet I'm told constantly told how easy killer is, how op killers are including Legion. How hard it is to play survivor. I don't get how afking and holding m1 is difficult. Especially when you get a good runner. Of course I'll probably get flamed, and this'll be ignored by the devs cuz, "It's just them doing their objective." Funny enough they complained about me camping their friend end-game like I had a choice.

I don't get why survivors think they're slick waving and taunting, I'm not leaving when gates are powered. You come get your friend, or I'm camping them to death. I have no other objectives to defend and I'm not risking you running out the gate or looping me while the others save. Don't even try.

No, I don't want free wins, I don't want easy games. I want to feel like I have a chance to play the game. I either play like a complete #########, or I just lose all my gens and get no points/emblems while being told how easy the game is, and how bad I am. Killers are supposed to be the power role, don't get how it's going on 3 years now and people STILL cannot seem to grasp that concept, but oh well.

You just want a chance to "Play the Game?"

Let me tell you The Truth: Killers always get to play the game in its entirety. Because KILLERS NEVER DIE.

No matter how bad you are at the game, you will always get to play the game and find and chase survivors, because unlike a survivor, there is no way for your night to end early.

Survivors, on the other hand, can slip up in the first 30 seconds, get hooked, spend a minute on it and die without ever really playing.

So no, I don't want to hear deaf cries like that. Ridiculous.

Here's the thing: all you did is prove that you are not so good at the game. I get a Nurse who slugs all four of us in two minutes. Does that mean Nurse needs to be nerfed?

Of course not! It just means she is better than us and outplayed us. For every match I get like that I get 10 matches where we outplay the Nurse or just have a good game and the Nurse kills half of us and the other half escape.

Your worst experience in the game is not anywhere indicative of the usual quality of the game or the status quo.

If you are not exerting enough pressure that 3 gens are done before you can hook a survivor, you just need to get better at the game. We all started sucking at this game. And with that kind of performance there's no way you're in the high ranks. At the low ranks you can do better, just learn to play better and track and hook survivors faster.

And if you are actually in the high ranks and getting stomped like this? Well guess what... that means you aren't good enough to hang in the high ranks! You will keep losing and pipping poorly until you end up back in the lower ranks where you belong. Look at me. I can get to purple ranks easy, but once I get to purple the games get a lot harder. This is my actual skill level. I can't progress higher and get good and easy wins because I'm fighting at a level where the players are as good or better than I am. So until I improve I will keep getting stomped or just not winning as much as I would in the lower ranks.

This is normal. People need to accept that this is true. People who keep crying about killer/survivor sided imbalances and how ranks mean nothing are just averting their eyes from this reality. Either because they're being brainwashed by idiot streamers or because their ego is too big for them to accept their real skill level. Or maybe both.

    Which one are you?

  • It would be more interesting if Survivors could achieve things that don't involve escape.

Survivors that get a "Noble Sacrifice" or "Stick it to the Man" or "The Great Purifier" result or something like that. So Survivors can gear towards achieving different goals other than surviving.

  • @pemberley said:

I’m of the opinion that they should because it would be fair and killers have a minute to prepare and commit if they know they’re going up against survivors well above them in rank (and vice versa - if you’re a rank 10 up against 20s you can choose to take it easy or avoid them entirely.)

I would say that survivors should also see killer rank, but since it’s still 4 vs 1, I think survivors have a much higher chance to manipulate the system to bully and mess with queues. I would definitely say survivors should see killer rank if they’re playing solo, but I don’t think the system is sophisticated enough yet.

Until matchmaking is fixed, killers should see survivor ranks so they know the full story instead of getting dunked on all match only to find out the Entity ONCE AGAIN paired reds and purples against your low rank or beginner killer.

Only if Survivors can see who the killer is and his rank as well.

This exactly. I feel like OP is upset that they can’t bully certain killers with BT.

LOL BT wouldn't bully anyone if you didn't tunnel.

  • @DarkGGhost said:

not it will not make it stronger but this will remove any counder play.

You're not supposed to be countering it with no-TR killers.

What is the point of an anti-tunneling anti-camping perk when it doesnt' work against the king of campers, Wraith?

  • You're wrong, I've been going up against a lot of Demos and they are all using their portals and some to great effect. I have even been caught by one who hid a portal on the second floor of a house in Haddonfield, he got around my watch on the stairs.

Making the portals permanent is bad move.

That will result in the "2 Gate Strategy" meaning survivors will never escape. Period.

Lastly, you don't even have Demogorgon and you don't even play Killer (or at least are a Survivor Main or so you claim) so how exactly do you know that Demogorgon is bad and his portals are useless?

Unless you're just regurgitating the tripe some streamer is spewing I don't see any way that you could possible say Demogorgon is bad, unless you've been curb stomping every Demogorgon you came across and he never got to use his portals at all against you.

"in all honesty, they have been making some progress towards optimization"

In fact, no. The performance lags/freezes get worse with every update. The situation we have now is a lot worse than two years ago.

It's 600 employees according to their own website. Also I don't understand what you mean by only half the company working. I assume that most employees have a normal full time job Monday-Friday.

Well technically, the performance of the game has improved somewhat compared to last year.

But it's still pretty bad, and to be honest without rewriting everything from the ground up it's never gonna get better. The game is just intrinsically flawed in terms of coding.

but there is probably only 3-5 ppl working on a daily basis on dbd. the rest is working on other stuff. should be obvious since updates and fixes for dbd takes ages.

This we don't know, you don't know what kind of work is being done on the game and we don't know how badly the game is coded, which makes working on making it optimized harder.

Lots of things we don't know.

  • The people who are suggesting to just straight nerf SWF (impossible actually as SWF doesn't have any actual game mechanics) and buff killers are usually just killer mains who don't know what they're talking about and just had a bad game (usually not even at the hands of SWF) so they are mad.

That's not to say SWF isn't a real problem, but it's blown way out of proportion. On the other hand, in the interest of advancing the game the reasonable suggestion in my opinion is to buff solo survivors with aura-read perks. For example, make Bond and Kindred baseline. Rework these perks (like Kindred could become a variant of Camaraderie where the rescuing survivor uses the perk and slows the hook down if he comes near the hook).

Then balance killer around the newfound perks. this levels the playing field a little between SWF and solo, making it less of an issue.
