  • Personally I don't mind.

At that point the killer has already won, why not give him some icing on the cake with a mori.

It's also a double-edged sword. If the obsession has a key, the aura reveal would screw the killer as the survivor now knows where the hatch is.

  • @ohheyitsbobcat said:

I mean, there's a few ways to work around this as Killer.

If hatch hasn't spawned, it's 50/50 who finds it first. Nothing you can do if they get there before you.

If hatch has spawned, go find it before hooking the 2nd to last person that way you can just sit on it and close it when it opens or alternatively slug and try and find the last guy.

It's also pretty dangerous to try for unhooks when you're the only one left as you lack information on the killer's wearabouts unless you're swf. I appreciate it when it happens but I'd hardly consider it low if a survivor leaves someone on the hook when they're the last one alive. In that situation, normally only one will ever make it out anyway.

I just want to point out, if the hatch hasn't spawned, it's not really 50/50.

Killer has a big edge in finding the hatch. First off, the killer moves faster, which is a slight advantage. Second, the killer has free reign of the center of the map. That's a huge advantage since most hatches spawn in the center of the map and not the edges. Killer can go around faster without worry and can find the hatch a lot faster.

Survivor has to avoid the killer and moves slower to boot.

If the hatch spawns at the edges of the map survivor has a 50/50 chance of getting to it first. Otherwise the odds are closer to 90/10 in favor of the killer -- and again the hatch spawns near the center of the map more commonly rather than at the edges. On some maps the chances are different (like on Hawkins and The Game) but in general the Killer has a huge advantage in finding the hatch. It's not 50/50.

The great equalizer is the key - if the survivor has a key the match skews 99/1 in favor of the survivor at end game, and survivor will almost always win it unless the killer is aware of the key, in which case it becomes slightly harder but still in favor of the survivor.

That's fair. It's usually because I get gen rushed and focus on a chase far too long, but I still just find it to be a low way for a survivor to win, screwing others over just so they can win.

It's a little bit of a jerk move, but not really. Survivors don't exactly owe anything to each other and more pragmatically if there are only 2 of you left and more than 1 generator still needs to be done, the chances of both of you escaping is almost zero. The killer has already won at this point and has demonstrated his superior play. Survivors have already lost at this point, and it's time to go for the consolation prize (the hatch).

At this point the smart play is to look for the hatch and escape via the hatch. If one is on the hook it's better for him to suicide and give the hatch to the last survivor. The only exception is if there were 2 gens left, one of you has a key, and the free survivor looks for the hatch, then goes for the unhook and both run to the hatch (which is hard to communicate in solo games).

I go for the save or go for the hatch depending on my mood. Sometimes I feel heroic, but usually we both die. If I play selfishly and go for the hatch I have a much better chance of surviving. If I play selfishly and have a key I basically have the cat in the bag.

No, cleansing is wrong, period. It gives away your position and make Plague a stronger killer (and with an actual power). Not only these mala, but also there are high chances that you're gonna turn sick instantly (like unhooking a 90% of the times sick survivor).

    Actually no.

Always not cleansing only makes sense if you still have a full team and all of you are great at looping. If you are down to 3 or 2 survivors cleansing makes more sense, and if you are the last one alive not cleansing is downright stupid.

In many situations cleansing is better, especially in many solo games, and when Plague is running the Thana/Dying combo. You mention it's dumb to cleanse and do an infected gen... well duh. That happened because you didn't cleanse before you worked on the gen.

If you cleanse look for a clean generator.

There are many contextual situations where it makes more sense to cleanse.

If you can't see that, you are obviously not as good at Survivor as you think you are.

  • If the last survivors is always camping the hatch, you need to up your game. Either do the slug method on the third survivor, or wrap up the match before 3 gens are done.

The reason you're always getting hatch camped is because you allow 3 gens to be finished, then take so long killing the third survivor that the last one always has time to find the hatch.

Alternately, if 3 gens have been done you go around looking for the hatch before you kill the 3rd survivor.

I can understand the hatch happening every now and then, but if it's always happening in every one of your games you are just not playing right.

Make it once thanks. Stop this ring around the Rosie nonsense

Isn't that what Bamboozle is for?

  • There are a lot of people here who think that killers aren't the "Power Role" but frankly they're just people who are not as good at the game as they think they are.

Survivors are supposed to be at a disadvantage the game is stacked against them. They can only survive if they come together and work together (even when they intend to stab each other in the back later on for the hatch).

Killer holds the power in this game, survivors have to outwit and outlast the killer. No single survivor can stand up to a killer except if he has a key and is gunning for the hatch. Generally, has to be four of you working to beat the killer.

"pro streamers" there are no pro streamers in dbd, might come as a shock to you but there are no pro players either. Your fotm killer? I am a survivor main, sorry that I don't need ez wins handed to me like you do.

Games against nurses with basekit were the best ever.

There absolutely are pro-streamers for DBD. People who make a decent amount of money streaming DBD are Pro Streamers. There's a few of them.

Pro Players, there aren't any, but pro streamers there definitely are.

  • It doesn't work on PC.

    Maybe on PS4 it works.

Less than 5sec as killer rank8

More than 10 min as survivor rank9

    Asia serve

If your rank is lower than 15 it would be longer than normal

I'm on Asia Server, Rank 7 Survivor, I get matches in under a minute.

Killer Rank is 20 so yeah it takes forever.

  • Yeah can't tell if it's actually working, just not lighting up and giving us any indication. Can't exactly ask the killer if he can see my aura or not.

So I'll assume it's broken. That makes more sense because I played a game today where I was supposed to get 3 stacks but the killer made a beeline for me after last hook, so I'm assuming he saw me with BBQ.

  • Spinechill doesn't need to be countered. It's a great perk but it's not all powerful.

Just because Myers is no longer immune to spine chill all of a time it's gonna become Meta?? LOL people are welcome to their delusions.

  • Who knows, this is BHVR we're talking about. Just put in a ticket.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I mean, you can technically, but if you're looking in the direction you are going, the survivor will still see your red stain from around whatever corner.

You won't have to moon walk looking away from the wall and then turning to back around the corner now, though. Also you won't see the killer's stain when downstairs and they are above you anymore, like in The Game map.

I actually just finished a game on The Game and I saw Billy's red stain above me.

    Must still be buggy.

And on consoles? We have no chat and by the time we get 1 message sent by going through profiles and menus the match is loaded.

Well what can I say. PC Master Race, console peasants!

Make friends and do SWF then, or just play normally. I run Plunderer Solo ALL THE TIME and 4/5 games I will be the one opening all the chests. Survivors usually bring their own gear into the game and don't waste time opening chests until later, they like to gen rush.

  • To be honest Ruin needs to be taken out of the game or reworked, and afterwards gens can be adjusted to level the playing field.

Perks that are too meta and stand out need to be looked at for the health of the game.

  • Just ask nicely int he lobby. I did this challenge without using coins.k

  • Yeah, on PC. I'm guessing something broke (as usual) in the PC version.

  • About 10mins for me to line up for killer. Not gonna check again today I have better things to do in ten minutes.

  • Yeah, just run it and Alt-Tab and do something else. I'd imagine this is a good way to game the system to finish the rift.

  • Microsoft Store? That exists?

  • Don't worry Stealth Surviving is even weaker.

  • So there's a Survivor Illuminati on this board and they're secretly pulling the strings behind everything and making life hell for killers?

    Get real.

If this were true BBQ would have been axed a long time ago.

  • Yup, that's what we've been saying to all the killers complaining about it.

  • @Artyomich said:

First and Second is perfectly fine.Unless the first challenge means unhook 3 survivors at the same match then that's impossible.

Third one is pretty BS. You have to actively be toxic and getting a flashlight save is very, very rare and your best bet is bullying noob killers

You obviously don't play this game.

When have you ever completed 4 gens in a single game, where the killer wasn't farming with you and everyone else was dead (everyone else has to be dead or complicit because you are competing with them for the gens)? This sort of thing does not happen in a normal game. Period.

Unhooking thrice during EGC is also impossible without the killer complicit and farming.

  • Seems even if you had a disastrously bad Survivor game you still get around 300xp. Just finished a game with Trapper where not a gen was completed and we all screwed up and got hit by traps trying to save Francis in the basement. We all got slugged in under 4 minutes and after I died on hook I still got 300xp.

Not bad for around 5 minutes of work.

As long as you don't insta-die I think you will get around 300xp. this is not a bad way to level up your Rift.

  • It just doesn't work, period.

When survivors die you don't get tokens.

Been like this for the past two months (or whenever it was Stranger Things hit).

  • Hmm, well I just did a hatch escape game and I got exactly 599XP and 33k BP (with 3 Pustula Gens done - base BP was 24k). So I am guessing a typical killer game that wasn't steamrolled and a good survivor game with an escape gets around 500-600xp.

Bad survivor games where you died quickly probably get around 100-200xp, I'll check again in my next bad game.

So it seems you can level up in 2 games -- if you get 3 good games in a row (around 2400xp) you can probably get 2 rift fragments. So it is actually looking better and easier to just brute force the Rift.

The actual tasks you can do are there to help, each task is 5 rift frags so that cut outs like 3 games worth of work if you can do it.

I think a typical survivor game still nets around 300xp -- one where you did stuff but ultimately died. While a typical killer game probably nets around 500xp.

Looking at the timestamp of my last post and the current time it took aroudn 20 minutes to earn that 600xp.

So converting the math to XP:

    800xp / frag x 10 frags = 8000xp per level.

It takes roughly 20 minutes to get 600xp. So that means around 266 minutes per level (or about 4 hours per level).

So just a guestimate, you can probably raise a tier every 4 hours just playing the game.

People who are just getting the free stuff only really need up to level 47 to get 60 Putrid Serum. So that's about 188 hours of play.

Minus all the tasks you manage to do. For the record I started the rift at level 13 when the patch hit and I'm at level 21 right now after completing all survivor tasks. That was I think 2 weeks worth of XP from just playing normally when they announced the delay to the patch. I think I gain around 13 levels every two weeks from being an addict.

I think I can hit level 47 just playing normally at this rate. Got more than 2 months to do it so I can relax.

I have no intention of buying the premium pass so I'm not really concerned with getting to level 70. I'll just pick up my 2 hallowed blight outfits and call it a day.

  • Well I dunno if it is really 300xp per game either. Let me check in my next game how much a "typical" game gives me.

  • GF is even more severely affected by Spine Chill, because you can call him out of his stealth.

GF is doing fine and stalking survivors even with Spine Chill. And he needs to be unseen in a very short span of time for his power to take effect.

    Myers will be fine.

  • You are not on my level!

  • I didn't even notice.

Though I admit I did instaheal someone with the Styptic and they didn't heal I thougth they were gonna heal. He kept pestering me to heal him lol I forgot it doesn't heal at all.

  • Never gonna happen. BHVR has explicitly said they are not doing this skin. Like you said, they don't have the technical expertise to do it.

  • @Rezblaze said:

Nobody wants to play the weaker killers because during events Survivors are at impossibly peak efficiency. Without Ruin or explicit slowdown perks, its impossible to get above a safety pip, in my experience.

With an easily bullied killer like Tier 1 Myers, you're wasting precious minutes trying to get out of Tier 1.

    LOL that's nonsense.

Half of the tasks require you to screw around. Like, Disturb 25 crows. I was camping the edges of the map to bother the crows perching on the rocks. Found a nice spot with 5 of them and got it done in five goes.

A Pig Player reported a Jake screwing around in her puzzle box resetting it to get 3 skill checks per got to do the skill check task.

Survivors are NOT playing optimal for this event.

And if you can't get a safety pip unless you run Ruin, well guess what you've turned Ruin into a crutch perk. You're never gonna get better at the game if you keep using Ruin as a crutch.

  • Event is fine. Doesn't feel all that different because the pumpkin hooks and gens don't actually add anything to the game.

You get weird behavior due to people trying to accomplish certain tasks in the game from the Tome, but even without tasks people still play in weird ways so I didn't notice much of a difference.

The biggest criticism of the event is that it's just another day in the Fog. Nothing is different really.

  • People always ask for a darker game with the old lighting. It was far superior.

  • Killer can spawn one tile away from you.

I've had a killer spawn directly beside me, and even worse I once spawned directly right in his view from the rotating view at the start of the game. Yeah, those games did not go well.

  • Are you playing on PS4 or something?

Because on PC Spine Chill is still as rare as ever, and Premonition? LOL, that's a "Blue Moon" perk. I can't even remember the last time I saw a potato bring Premonition into a game.

If it bothers you so much how about, you know, not looking straight at the gen when you approach it.

  • Myers is fine. Ghost Face has been like this since day 1 and it's never been a problem.

  • Archives are fine. the are like dailies yes, but most other games have setup like: "Dailies, Weeklies and Seasonal" or "Monthly."

Dailies should stay as daily challenges.

Archives is similar to the Seasonal challenges you see in other games.

Dailies need a fix though, they are extremely obnoxious right now. I don't know if they have fixed the "switching dailies" but yet. Also, the dailies you receive should be at least 50/50. Or at least more in favor of the role you play more. My experience as a Survivor Main who mostly plays Survivor is that 95% of my Dailies are Killer Rituals. Yeah, guess what, that doesn't make me want to play more killer. (The only thing that will make me play more killer is reduced killer lobby times)

  • Insidious Bubba never gets points if the survivors are smart enough to realize what's going on and just leave the game instead of going into the basement.

I get hit by him every now and then because I always go into the basement to get the chest. :)

Mochan I gotta say your posts have been great and you have a great answer to my problem....i also gotta agree on your comment on the type of players the wraith attracks u clarified it pretty good..its true. The info on how killers us wraith was also great help...i will let you know when I get more practice on your advice on using the other perks you mentioned.

I use empathy III.for the range to help see were the killer is to keep working on engines or heal/unhook survivors evade a chase or heal myself or for barbecue/chili I can move up depending on how far i am and avoid being detected and help unhook as well.

Spine chill III.as I turn my camera to see which direction the killer is coming and creep away no scratch marks on healing/engine

    Self heal III. Explains itself.

Nea perk. Creep arround faster to avoid scratch marks and avoid being seeing with camouflage clothes (meg/Claudette) my only survivors I use.

This is my style of playing Mochan what do you think? Since I've played I've ranked as low as 4 and the highest I go back up on the 15th is 10-12 as a survivor.

You are using Empathy to good effect. While designed to find survivors who are injured and help them, it has the great side effect of letting you figure out where the killer is because you see who is being chased. Good on you for doing that, but try using Bond instead, you'll find it's a lot more versatile.

Urban Evasion is great, it is one of my favorite perks. Sneaking around and juking killers with it is the best. You can do some really slick evasions using cover and Urban Evasion when the killer is nearby and searching, things you can't do without it because you wouldn't be able to move fast enough to avoid the killer's line of sight. It's mastering these evasion tricks that forms the basis of stealth play. Later on you'll want to add Fixated to your repertoire, it takes this kind of play to the next level. Get Fixated if you can. It's the most powerful stealth perk stealth players have gotten in years.

Self Care... let me just say that Self Care wastes too much time. I get that it's a nice safety button to have for clutch moments, but it is simply too inefficient. Bring a medkit along so at least your heal speed isn't too gimped. Inner Strength is the superior healing perk. It's nice in a pinch, but pick your times when you use it, some people just use it the moment they get hit and that can often lose the game. Prioritize things like repairing gens or rescuing hooked teammates over self-healing.

As for Spine Chill, you don't need to turn your head to use it. It works omni-directionally all the time. The perk that needs you to look around is Premonition. This perk is the most useful perk for stealth players because it gives you that extra edge needed to avoid killers. Never leave home without it if you want to stealth.

  • Is there a different Protection Hit event? I got two of those Protection hits in the first game I tried and didn't get the perk to fill-in. It was the type wehre someone is on the floor and you try to save, but get hit.

Protection Hit event shows and you get BP, but no MOM Stack.

I reliably get the stacks when I get hit while the killer is carrying someone else. Same Protection hit event.

  • Nevermind I finally got it to work. Not sure why but apparently MoM has 1/3rd of it marked up when you proc the hit. Dunno why it didn't work the first time around.

Anyway I got it to work. It was a dumb game but the look on Billy's face when he hit me and I just kept running must have been priceless.

    @Mochan This.

The fact you know there's a 90% chance the killer is running BBQ means you should be using the counters that are available to you if you want to play stealthy.

Not using them because "it's just not your playstyle" is entitled and shows a lack of willingness to adapt.

Same thing can be said for survivors who face a Nurse and "looping" is their preferred playstyle, they will die because you need to play stealthier against the Nurse since loops are not reliable.

Or Killers who get annoyed at stuff like DS, because they like to relieve the pressure of 4 survivors and quickly kill 1 of them. They will eat the DS and lose a bunch of time.

I'm not saying Keys are OP (aside from some specific situations), but this game runs on counters and counter-counters pretty much every game. Just like Plunderers could now counter Franklins (and I don't think that is wrong in the least), you can run SS, Distortion, or do any of the counters to BBQ if you know the killer is running it.

I think, when we start discussing nerfs and/or buff, we need to take a look at what (if any) counters there are to the subject in question, how many they are, if they are reliable, if they can be preformed with or without perks and how effective they are as counters.

I think BBQ has way too many, erffective, counters to be considered OP. Honestly most killer probably run it for the BP gains for the most part (I like surveillance more for gen protecting and map info but I need muh points).

Look. You can call me entitled all you want.

When I bought this game I wanted to play Survivor and sneak around.

Nurse non-looping is a counter to one killer. That killer is not played in 90% of the games. There is something wrong with the game when 90% of it is playing one way and the other way has been nerfed into oblivion.

When something becomes so meta, they need to take a look at it and fix the problem, so that the game doesn't suffer as a result. See, this is the problem with the game: it is moving towards looping playstyles far too much and is disregarding stealth styles.

A lot of survivor-side things were nerfed for the betterment of the game. And this is good. Sabo was broken and stupid, so it was nerfed. That's good. Vaulting was too broken and prevalent, so it was nerfed. That's good. Now while BBQ isn't quite broken, it is prevalent, so something needs to be done so that it doesn't completely neuter an entire playstyle.

I get that you can stealth around it. But it's just one symptom of a bigger problem this game is trending towards.

Anyway, I don't expect anyone to understand. You can call me entitled all you want.

Now, back to the original point you brought up as segueway to all this:

    KEYS ARE NOT BROKEN.

Keys you see are pretty well-balanced by the fact that a specific number of gens are required to use them. Do they need nerfing? Not really. But I wouldn't mind some of the changes proposed like allowing only one survivor to use a key, etc.

You using one comment on Keys that I made, then seguewaying it into an off topic issue on a view I have on another thing that you found disagreeable is to be honest poor form. If you have an issue with my views on BBQ talk about them int he BBQ topics.

  • I don't know what to say. Several members here have confirmed it doesn't need to be a Mori to count and have gotten the task by just normal sacrificing of the four survivors.

    Bleed Out/Sacrifice/Mori are all "Killed."

Mori rituals are different because they are "Killed with your own hand."

Your assumption is wrong; maybe check if the survivor DC'd when you tried it, DC'ing might not count as "killed" in this case.

  • What is this challenge. I don't see it in the tome.

1 2 3 4 5 … 52
