Thanks for the fix! You saved BHVR from losing a customer.
I appreciate it.
-
Hahah young'uns these days don't even know what an .ini file is.
Anyway this didn't work. I tried seting Game.Ini to "Read Only" as well but it didn't work.
**** Oh wait siilly me I'm an idiot. It's ENGINE.INI not Game.ini
All is well in the world now. Thanks!

Queue times for me got worse as Survivor.
I'm in Asia region by the way.
Survivor Queue: now takes 2 minutes (up from 5 seconds)
Killer Queue: now takes 5 minutes (roughly same as before).
Overall impression: gonna shelf this game for a bit and play Overwatch.
-
Took me 5 minutes to find a lobby as killer. Am still waiting for the lobby to fill as of this writing. No real improvement, same for me. At least I'm not seeing severe mismatches in the survivor group.
Overall, probably a good thing, I'm thinking the game is not forcing me to go into groups with mismatched rankings. There's some wait time as survivor now which is not good, but if it fixes the ranking issues I'll be happy.
I don't know about the time. This is when I usually play. I'll continue to monitor the situation... but I need to fix the damn graphics. My framerates are too choppy to play the game at the moment thanks to that wretched forced-Anti Aliasing. BHVR is really telling me to buy a new computer.
-
Yeah I saw those screenshots. Perhaps they lowered their resolution in the ini? That is how AA looks when the resolution is too low.
-
I swear. They mess with the hair mesh to improve framerates, then after a week "fix" the hair by forcing a settign that absolutely murders framerates.
I'm playing a slideshow now, I can't hit ruin skill checks if you held a gun to my head, and forget looping.
Sorry, now I feel bad for buying Stranger Things, this is worse than the Ash fiasco. At least that just wasted money on a dead perk. Now I wasted money on a dead game.
Gonna shelf this first until I buy a new computer.
-
Just got into the lobby. Getting into the match now. I was last so it didn't take long. Almost took about 2 minutes to find a lobby. This is not an improvement for me as a survivor. Will continue to monitor the situation, maybe it's just today at this time.
-
Just got the patch. I tried getting into a lobby as survivor. It is taking more than a minute now as I type.
What?!
I'm not liking this patch already. Be back to make a sandwich. If the lobby isn't ready by then I'm gonna try killer.
-
What is that diamond?
Also calling Camaraderie of all things a Crutch Perk...
BT and DS aren't crutch perks really. They are anti-crutch perks, meant to destroy the crutch called camping/tunneling.
-
Isn't this gonna give us an FPS hit?
-
The shack is a strong loop but good killers can close it quickly using mindgaming. I've been caught many times by good killers at the shack because they moonwalk and screw with my direction. (I'm not a very skilled looper)
It depends on your skill and that of your quarry. If the survivor is better than you he will run circles around you. if you are better you can end the loop pretty quick.
People like to pretend that looping is an easy and mindless skill, but it's not. The more skilled the looper, the harder they are to catch. Ping also plays a good deal into this, which is why a lot of red rank survivors dodge lobbies with anything less than green ping.
-
The amount of time a killer and survivor take to fill the lobby is different; of course the survivor that joined last has it much faster, but when I line up for killer games I can spend 5 minutes waiting for a lobby, the once I'm in the lobby I wait another minute before a survivor even shows up.
And killers take a lot longer to get a lobby (measured in the minute as opposed to seconds for survivor) -- that alone makes a huge difference in the waiting time of a killer.
In my experience as a survivor lobbies tend to fill up really fast, doesn't take more than a minute once I join the lobby. And finding a lobby is just 5-10 seconds usually.
-
Yes, imagine punishing killers for playing the game.
Look, I get you're a killer main, but there is a vast difference between survivors and killers. You know what that is? It's called POWER. Killers are the POWER ROLE. No matter how many killers are bad at the game and don't have power, it is a fact that killers are the power role.
What this means is killers can end a survivor's night just like that. Utterly deny him from even playing. That is called tunneling and camping.
The mechanics are terrible and need some kind of fix. BHVR obviously intends for killers not to camp and tunnel. It's clear as day from their (badly-designed) emblem system. But as we all know the emblem system is junk, so killers don't have any incentive not to tunnel camp.
It's been a long time coming that a real mechanical change is put in place to prevent tunnel camping, but BHVR is half-hearted about it. Likely they don't want to take agency away from players. I get that.
But nobody can complain if the survivor population is so low that killers can't reliably find fast games, because tunnel-camping is the number one that drives survivors away from playing this game.
So YES, killers need to be punished, if that's what it takes to stop this silly epidemic.

What does "bait the loop" mean?

Not sure. Its the craziest community ive ever seen. Maybe they hate themselves and project that out, maybe the game brings the worst out in people. Not sure.
Survivors have the easy role but have the audacity to cry about trivial bs like HOW the Killer Killed them. Survivors have the tiniest egos I've seen in my whole life, they can not except loss or defeat in any form and usually , almost 99% of the time lash out on the killer.
And inb4 someone says the stupid, and very generic "dur there are toxic killers 2" . Yes you may meet a toxic killer, but you'll meet 100x more toxic survivors then killers. Killers are generally more humble and respectful. Ive got hundreds of after game ps4 messages from salty players , and i can confidently say out of the hundreds, maybe ten at most are from a toxic killer, the rest being survivors.
The sad thing is like I said, thats just how survivors are. But if you think you like this game enough. Just try to ignore them. Turn chat off, if youre on ps4 turn random messaging off and just have fun.
Toxic survivors behavior, constant harassment, incessant whining and nonstop craptalk have ruined the game for a lot of killers like myself and a few others ive seen here talk about it. Dont let it get to you like that. Good luck
You're more toxic than any Survivor I've seen.
Except for me, of course. Nobody is more toxic than ME!

I frankly would like to play an alternative to DBD.
Now don't get me wrong. I'm a DBD addict. But this game has so much ######### in it that needs fixing. It would be a breath of fresh air to have an alternative.
-
That's a silly fix for the issue. A more reasonable deterrent would be a drastic slowdown to the hook timer when the killer is within a certain distance of the hook.
-
Define "quite a few hours"
And actually if you're like me you can rack up a lot of posts on the forum. I just alt-tab whenever I'm on hook or waiting for lobby to load. You know I'm busy playing when I'm busy posting here.
Also, just because a player isn't "new new" doesn't mean he's a skilled player or knows how to play properly. 100 hours in this game is just a baby.

Old legion concept was fun but hard to play against.
New Legion concept is unfun to play and boring to go against.
Legion is one of those killers that needs the Freddy Love.
The concept is literally the same. The concept for Legion has always been a killer who runs around doing mass stabbings.

Ahhh. Now get it. You’re new here. Practice looping her, once you can do that you will just feel bad for her. In fact, once you understand how to drag out chases you won’t find more than a few killers OP.
"you're new here" says the guy with 32 posts?
-
I have never run Ruin as a killer. Heck, I only bought it from the Shrine a while back when it came out but I have never used it. I still get lots of 3Ks and 4Ks. I should try Ruin sometime. But I don't have it on my Killer mains yet lol.
But I get what you mean. I never camp and tunnel, because I hate being camped and tunneled.
-
I personally don't think NoEd needs adjusting.
There's too much drama around NoEd, but the fact of the matter is even if it triggers and someone gets downed and hooked, it's not the end of the world!
You can still go around calmly, run and find the totem, cleanse it, then go for the hook save play.
Easy peazy.
There is no need to get so upset over NoEd. You got Borrowed Time anyway right? There, so easy.

Blows my mind how people still don't get new killer = more killers = longer killer que times
Blows my mind how it's always long killer queue times even when there isn't a new killer.
-
Meanwhile as Survivor I'm playing 3-4 games every 30 minutes. I feel sad for killers.

Feelsbad my Freddy build is BBQ, Ruin, Thana and Sloppy.
Preferably with brush and swing chains.
Literally all 3 you mentioned are my go-tos with him xD
And I have to say I hate your build! Fixing gens takes freakin' forever!
-
@WaffleFalafel said:
And killers don't like having 3 gens pop by the first hook. It's neither side's fault for complaining, that's just how the game works right now. Unless you're playing a top tier killer or get some luck like Haunted Grounds, you're not going to be able to hook someone before 3 gens get done. Sucks for both sides really. Can't play a low tier killer without it. Can't stop seeing it used as a survivor.
Maybe the reason survivors are getting 3 gens on you is because you're using Haunted Grounds?
I mean if you're trying to stop the survivors from doing their jobs Haunted Grounds is the last perk I'd go to.
-
The thing I dislike the most about the game is the bright, oversaturated, non-atmospheric lighting.
- Well I guess Dead in Daylight has a ring to it.
- At least I can see Trapper's traps on the ground now.
- And I had to learn to loop because I can't stealth anymore.
-
Fixated is the perk I've been waiting for. If only they would let it work with No Mither.
-
While it loathes me to approve of DC tactics, frankly I am 100% onboard with this movement. Moris are bleh.
-
I am so sick of BBQ and Ruin. And actually at this point I'm also kind of sick of Thanatophobia.

I did read what you wrote.
"Fixated isn't meant to be for people in red, just like Windows of Opportunity it's designed to foster playstyles in the lower ranks - in this case further away from the current meta."
I think you forgot a period. Without the period between "Opportunity" and "it's", it reads like Fixated is just like WoO because it's designed to foster playstyles. If you placed a period between these two words, it would read as you intended.
Also, I don't think that what you proposed was the dev's intention, and if it was, then I don't think it's the right move. That's what I'm saying
It reads just fine. I understood it the way he intended. The period isn't needed. Personally I would have replaced the comma after red with a period, and put a comma after opportunity.
-
I get you, I just hate it when the DPS can't kill the enemy! I too am a support main, and there's nothing more frustrating than using the Mercy Blaster to do the DPS job, sometimes you have to. Then switch afterwards. Team loses healer but sometimes it's necessary.
-
-
Chasing for beginners: if mindgaming is above your pay grade don't bother, just chase straight, don't respect palettes, break them as soon as they drop, they will run out sooner or later and then the entire map becomes a lot easier.

What about us colour blind people? This would be tremendous and really help. The thing we've been begging for for years now. Every game so far has a colour blind option. Why doesn't this?
Giving survivors a blue stain for color blind people is a bad idea.
It just unnecessarily punishes all survivors in the game. They should implement actual color blind mode options.
Though to be honest I'm not sure I'm on board with that idea either. If color blind options give people with normal vision an advantage, it sort of becomes ripe for abuse. I'm all for inclusiveness but sometimes you have to accept that your physical condition isn't the best for certain activities.
-
Maybe, but I'm not too fond of Nancy's portrait or her 3D model. She doesn't look so good.
Steve on the other hand, I love Steve. He has a green sweater with long sleeves, so he has some built in camou, and his voice is hilarious. Moreover he has a bit of a cheat: if you equip a key on him it doesnt' look like he's holding a key, so some killer might not realize you are using a key.
I am going to P3 Steve, he's awesome sauce. Should have all perks on him in the next Bloodhunt.
-
Tenacity is awesome.
And because of DS fear you can get a lot of good mileage out of it after being unhooked. Killer leaves you on the ground for a bit and you can sneak away without them noticing.
Also hilarious, if you are in a dark map like macmilan with tall grass, and the killer is not so good at tracking you can literally lose them after they down you because they can't find you. Especially if you have No Mither and don't leave blood trails.
This has happened to me several times.

If you use no mither then it should be okay with being sick.
Not really. There are two kinds of people who use No Mither. Those who want a challenge, and those who use it for Stealth. (and for resilience)
The green goo around you and the coughing makes it impossible to stealth, so being infected is a death sentence because now you are broken AND can't stealth for squat.
I had to learn to loop as well to counteract this weakness, but losing that extra hit is a big deal and makes me a lot easier to kill when looping. I'm not exactly a god looper.

Like how you dodged my response, I'll state it again:
NOED is a second chance for killers that has a completely easy counter play. Survivors have a list of second chance perks too but if the killer ever complains about them they are just told to gid gud.
Now Jeyers, my question to you is why can the survivors have second chances but the whenever the killer uses a second chance it's OP and broken?
There are strong perks on either side and although Adrenaline does activate when survivors complete a PART of their objective because escaping is their objective, not completing generators, it still denies killers of their earned hits or downs. On top of that it completely bypasses exhaustion which I find a bit tedious because you can just dead hard into adrenaline if timed correctly. Both NOED and Adrenaline needs changing in my opinion because both deny gameplay and to some extent Adrenaline rewards failure because the killer wins a chase just for it to mean absolutely nothing.
Edit: I never use NOED because I know how unfun it is to go against but you need to see how Adrenaline looks from the other perspective. You say NOED is annoying because you just get downed but Adrenaline is annoying to killers because they down a survivor just for them to get a free heal then into a Sprint burst which denies them a kill.
When Survivors whine about NoEd I tell them to Git Gud.
It's seriously not hard to find and cleanse totems.

If everyone in the community suddenly thought 1 or 2 kills isn't bad i don't think anyone would care about gen times.
1 or 2 kills is rather easy and reasonable result to achieve if thats what was actually considered not bad.
No one would call you a baby ez killer and bad for getting 1 or 2 kills.
People want 3 or 4 kills or nothing because the community constantly picks on people who don't by saying the stuff above or tea bagging at the gates.
Technically, there's lots of bratty survivors out there who say EZ when you only get 1 kill.
Heck, I've seen survivors say EZ when you get 3 kills.
-
Same here.
I have gotten like 3 survivor dailies in the past month.

Poor Nancy, she needs a better sweater. After I got her to Level 40 and used up all the items I got doing so, I have benched her and will probably never touch her again except for dailies.

Another example of attacking the player rather than the addressing the issue.
Both sides can be ######### but when survivors are 4:1, we have a better chance of seeing ######### survivors than we do killers.
It's a ratio.

How long have you been playing?
Some of us might have been playing longer than you and do just fine with a handicap like that. If you want to ignore the advice of people who've been playing longer than you that's fine, but don't get snarky when we're genuinely trying to help.
You are not helping by telling a newbie not to cleanse against Plague.
A lot of veterans seem to lose sight of the bigger picture and forget that not everybody can play at their level. Only good loopers can afford not to cleanse against plague.
New players who are not good at looping should cleanse, because otherwise they are making the game a lot easier for Plague.
As you yourself have pointed out, it's pretty obvious that the OP is a new player who isn't very good at looping.
The correct advice is to tell them to be careful and hide when they hear Plague's vomit purge sound, play less aggressively and wait out the vile purge duration. Then learn looping when they can, and when they're good enough don't cleanse.

well, i dont play high ranks but this has been my experience any time someone cleanses. but like i said, i dont play high ranks so...
I don't play in high ranks either.
I try to stay low if possible, but I usually end up around purple automatically.
Actually in high ranks that's where people prefer to stay broken the entire match. That's where you have survivors who are good enough to loop that they can play the entire match broken with little problem, and they're all running no-heal builds.
But if you're not playing in high ranks maybe you should start cleansing. It is definitely better to cleanse against Plague if you do not know how to loop at a very high level.
If you can't loop but you're using streamers advice and following their teaching not to cleanse against plague, stop it. You're doing yourself a disservice. Cleanse and get better at looping first before trying to go broken the entire match.
I have seen way too many matches in purple and green ranks where survivors don't cleanse against plague and go down in seconds when Plague finds them (which is easy to do because of all their coughing and that green sludge aura).
If you can't loop her, for goodness sake wash your face.

"That is actually a really powerful ability."
I made zero assumptions. I went literally by what you posted.
If you were good at looping you would realize that isn't strong like all the other rank 1 survivors and killers have realized. You think it is strong. The only way someone thinks this is strong is if they can't loop well.
This is just using the information you give and doing very basic critical thinking.
I'm referring to this part:
Being injured all game is not as dangerous asyou think it is when you know how to properly loop.I apologize if that wasn't supposed to refer to me specifically and was just a normal part of the sentence construction.
