They were taken in 96, so anyone who actually sticks to that year as the "no music past this year" rule, I commend.

Both the Doctor's and David's nautical outfits in the rift were both mobile exclusives for a bit. Give it time.

Deathslinger's, Freddy's, and Oni's will always be my favorite.

The blight isn't a week old outdated version. McLean was referring to a specific bug, not the entire killer. What he said has been exaggerated and taken out of context.
McLean was referring to more than just the double stun. If you can actually back your claim up with evidence, I'll believe you, but everyone in the DBD community is under the impression that McLean, a dev who seemed rather upset with the PTB version of Blight, is telling the truth that he's made a ton of changes in between PTB release day and the actual last updated build of Blight for the PTB, a week prior.
-
It's happened before and it hopefully will happen for Blight. How're we meant to test a broken, week old version of a killer that Mclean has called unrecognizable to the current dev build?

James still have a chance to be in the game, I don't think they're gonna stop the cosmetics at Cybil skin <3
Here's hoping that's the case.

We already have Alessa and don't tell BHVR but we're getting Cybil as a legendary soon. I really wanted James but I'm at least glad you got your wish.

Thursday, boyo, keep your eyes peeled for this Thursday. ๐

Yes, yes, yes, and yes. The Shining is probably my favorite Stephen King property and honestly I'd prefer a Shining chapter over an It chapter every single time. Jack Torrance as a killer and the Overlook as a map are two of my most wanted things for DBD.
-
Overheating is literally useless now and if you seriously thought Billy's addons were fine, you must've been huffing the gas Billy puts into the ol' chainsaw. He's literally the same as before with a completely trivial "feature" slapped onto the saw that only punishes you if you rev nonstop at loops, never taking a single second to breathe. His new addons actually encourage intelligent gameplay from the killer's end and aren't just Insta-Saw and Crack Billy. Cry all you want, Billy needed his addons nerfed.
-
Stranger Things is probably my favorite addition to DBD but Cursed Legacy and Chains of Hate are also both excellent.
-
James Sunderland for Cheryl.

Well some people don't want that for immersion, just because you woudn't mind dosen't mean everyone else does.
No no no, I'm agreeing that adding voice chat is a gateway into the hell hole that is old school MW1 and BO lobbies with 9 year olds who just learned how to say the hard R. Saying it gives power to SJW's is the most bizarre thing I think I've heard all day.
-
@Pawcelot said:
No thanks. And no in-game voip either. I rather not make every survivor have the power of a SJW.
What did he mean by this? It's a video-game, the most common thing to find in online game chats is excessive slurs and targeted profanity.
-
James Sunderland for a legendary Cheryl skin. He was gonna be the survivor originally and I'd love to see our depressed widower ingame.
-
Oni hands down. The mixture of traditional Japanese Samurai armor with the signature Yamaoka blue skin and magic hair (which looks amazing in white) paired with the fact that the Entity literally turned him into an Oni and forcibly gave him that iconic red Oni/Hannya mask is so good. Such an excellent character design. Plus, the little details that change during Wrath mode are great.
-
Guys, guys, we need to put pitchforks down over this. Give it time and we'll get true cross progression, I'm sure of it. Fortnite and Minecraft both found a way to get Sony and Microsoft playing nice and there's a large effort in gaming these days to tear down the walls of console antagonism. Wait it out and I'm pretty sure everyone's gonna be satisfied. All we need now is time.

Jacket from Hotline Miami.

This, unironically.

The Plague is Adiris because that's what she became unknowingly. Like many others have said on here before, Adiris spread the plague unknowingly and caused it to kill many, many, MANY more people than it should have because she covered up her own symptoms. She caused the illness to permeate into where everyone basically gathered: the temples of worship. By the end of her life on her version of Earth, she saw the Entity call to her, mistook it for her god, and decided to follow its orders in ridding the world of heretics and those that are impure. She's obviously lumped into "once good, but misguided into doing evil" category but she's far from innocent in terms of how many died due to believing in her. I love that they called her the Plague because it really drives home the point that she's become so much worse than what she was. She's no longer a priestess with love and good intentions in mind; she's a festering, lethal illness that spreads it to all she comes into contact with regardless of her wishes.
-
The Observer? The guy who records the Observations and Revelations in each Tome? Pretty hard to fathom you having trouble finding info about him.
-
Yeah, no. We already have the same meta perks used by every survivor, we don't need everyone to play the exact same character because its got the best abilities. People still swear to playing Claudette because of how well she blends, imagine if she had a bonus healing ability? Good god, nothing but Claudettes...

Even the darn mary's letter!!!
Anyway, i believe they should have gone for a different monster... What about alessa's burned version herself?
And anyway, i don't think a legendary skin could apply to turn a female Survivor into a male survivor. They would have to rework voice acting, movements, posture...
Btw i want an item for survivor that's a radio which emits statics when the killer is nearby instead of the heartbeat, when playing against ph or in midwich ๐๐๐๐
Pyramid Head is and always will be the face of Silent Hill. Going for anything other than Pyramid Head would've been licensing suicide. James is really our only option for that new Cheryl skin despite him being a male. Who else could it be? Cybil? Nah. Maria? Yeah, no. They'll probably just give Cheryl the Legion treatment.

the way I understood it was that there's always an 'executioner' in SH that has no form, and the entity gave it THAT form because it's the form it found most often in the minds of people.
That works relatively well conceptually but every single addon is directly related to James/Pyramid Head. Like I said, the lore is a mish-mash of classic SH lore and the new crap.

True. But still a missing chance with James and the PH lore :'(
This qualifies ph for an unwilling killer, to me
We'll probably get James in September. There's another Cheryl legendary coming. But the lore for Pyramid Head is an amalgamation of old SH lore and the new garbage. So Pyramid Head is both James' personal demon but is also the Silent Hill town executioner that everyone's scared of, because, reasons? He wants to be here but it's a crappy justification, I know.

Why not using brookhaven hospital instead? That would have been one hell of a map. Still, Cheryl's really not good for midwich. Better the mall map, is where you start the game. Not as iconic as the school, but i would have loved the alchemilla hospital too
We've already got an indoor hospital map and the devs wanted to have something from each game. Like I said, the school works because of the Alessa connection and Pyramid Head is the only killer who could've been chosen since hes the only monster from the franchise that everyone knows and is worth caring about.

About myers, we got something particular to say. Despite the fact that the entity requires sacrifices, if i'm correct, it was full aware of the kind of monster the shape was. Someone who gets real pleasure in killing. Someone who could be hard to control, some sort of wayward son.
Either the entity accept the risk, or it's sure the shape can be educated. But myers is actually... Glad to be here and kill.
Trapper... Uhm... Yeah i simply love trapper too much to think of him as a bad boy. He even has an add on to trap survivors without wounding them ๐๐๐
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1435308#Comment_1435308
Yeah caleb was driven to revenge. But i think he don't give a ######### about hunting survivors.
Now i'm also thinking about piramid head. For those of you who don't have a clue about silent hill background; here we go.
Piramid head was nothing but the manifestation of James Sunderland (S.H.2 main character) desire for punishment because of how he ended up killing his wife while she was seriously ill, on the brink of death and insanity. The city of silent hill was so full of the evil that unleashed during the events of silent hill 1 that it ended up becoming self aware, baiting people who seeked or deserved to be punished like in some sort of purgatory and force them to come out redeemed, or to die trying, that it gave birth to the executioner.
Piramid head, once he has fulfilled his purpose once James accepted his Guilt and decided that he needed to go on and confront his own wife (dead wife. If you're lost, don't worry. We've all been there), committed suicide piercing his own head on a spear. Never to be seen again (ok not true, but the piramid head that we saw during future installments is not the true piramid head).
So he won't exactly be so Happy to punish and torment survivors who don't really have done nothing to be punished too. Let's not forget the fact that Cheryl Mason, who's also known as Heather Mason, is nothing but the reincarnation of the original Cheril Mason, the girl who Henry mason adopted prior to SH1, and who's the daughter of Alessa gillespie, a young girl forced by her mother (Dahlia Gillespie, head of the cult that planned to unleash the angel of destruction Samael onto the world) to give birth to a God. The same fate almost fell upon Cheril, who, at the last moment, decided to... Vomit, the stillborn god fetus. Yeah this is gross and complicated. The lore of silent hill is so wonderful and dark and grim...
Anyway; Cheryl mason never visited midwich elementary school.
Piramid head never haunted that school.
Cheryl and piramid head never meet each other, and never fought.
And most important, piramid head is the child of the grim, dark presence that controls silent hill. A presence which is evil, and power, incarnate. Something as powerful as the entity. So here we are, PARADOX!
Imo, piramid head shouldn't even be here. And Cheryl is the worse survivor to choose from the franchise, because SHE KICKED A GOD CORPSE. How can she be scared of things like legion, the nurse or stuff like that?
To make more sense, BHVR should've choosen James Sunderland, and pick exactly him from the "in water" ending of silent hill 2, where he throws himself in water, inside his own car, because he cannot Copy with the guilt of having killed his wife, and hoped he could join her in death. That would make so much sense. When he tried to escape his fate and his reponsabilities, when he failed to learn the lesson, then piramid head would have a true and good reason to haunt him again. Him and all those who he holds dear, the survivors for instance.
But piramid head never hurted the innocents for random reasons. He wouldn't do it
Midwich is Cheryl's map since she's the reincarnation of Alessa. Pyramid Head is James' personal demon but the devs really wanted to use him so they bent the rules. James was originally gonna be the survivor but the map was always Midwich which was interesting. Hopefully we get James as a legendary skin down the line.

In that case they are going to fail. Everything that surrounds them are pocket dimensions under complete Entity's control and everything that is in them is made by Entity. It's like trying to win in a game against the person who created that and is able to change the rules in his favour all the time
Also, killers are not going to cooperate with survivors as Entity has some effective ways of forcing them to do what it wants.
Dude, I'm literally just telling you what the Devs have put out. It's not even a matter of failure at this point, they do get out of the Entity's dimension. Whether or not they go back home, to a new universe all together, or something completely different is unknown. The irrefutable point is simply that the characters ingame do escape. Headcanon all you want, BHVR released official information that contradicts your views.

I mean, I don't think the Entity would just "let them escape" and would either trick them or will simply eradicate them once it will understand their motifs.
Of course the Entity wouldn't let them escape, why would the captor let the captive out when it sustains them? All I'm saying is that the survivors and killers we have ingame find a way to outwit the Entity one way or another. Perhaps through sacrifice or martyrdom. Point is, there's a way out.

Wow cool! I never knew these existed!
...
Why is mobile so special?!
Seriously though this is actually a lot information, and our suspicions that our survivors are somehow 'special' makes a lot of sense. I think I still stand by the notion that they remember most things while 'normal' survivors don't and are quickly sent to the void when they break. Thanks for sharing!
No problemo! I really hope they port the cinematics over to PC someday because they're great little tidbits of information that really explain the lore better.

The question is "where will they escape". I highly doubt they will ever just get "free". More likely thrown away into The Void or some other place like that or simply allowed to finally die.
The Observer makes it pretty clear there's a difference between the Void and wherever the lucky survivors and killers that escape end up. The Void is the last place anyone wants to be.

In the current state of the game I agree with you on most of these points, but I think with all the archive chapters we are getting, eventually we are going to understand the Entity more and more and with things like the hatch existing there has to be some kind of key that can be used to actually fight the entity.
Either way, its something that we can really only speculate on but it at least has some merit as opposed to your mario analogy.
This.
@Justalittlepeeck said:
I don't think it possible to do anything to the Entity, considering that it doesn't just "hold the strings", its power fuels and creates everything we see in the game, it keeps survivors alive and so on.
Imagine being in simulation and trying to challenge the person who is controlling it from the outside. That's what DbD technically is. Trials, fireplace everything, except probably the Observer's lair (but who knows, I believe he is just a pawn and he hasn't escaped the grasp of the Entity) is fully under Entity's control and is created by it. Those who try to oppose have their will crushed and the most stubborn ones get eradicated. There is no escape. No way out. Nothing.
Except there is.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnXeaQfnXpoThere's a way out and it's made clear by the Observer that the survivors and killers we have ingame, as shown by Dwight and Claudette, are the ones who will find the way to escape the Entity.
-
I'm not sure how many of you have seen the DbD mobile cinematics but I can't recommend them enough. They basically confirm that all the survivors and killers we have ingame are "special" and that they are destined to escape the Entity in one way or another, which is what the Observer is searching for: his way out. It also makes sense that certain survivors remember and others don't, despite all members of our main cast being the "special" survivors. Someone like Dwight would probably remember most failures as the Entity knows that's his weakness. Ash, as shown by his voice lines, doesn't remember much of anything, but this fuels him because he's the chosen one in most universes, always ready to try and save the day, despite the odds stacked against him. Still, Ash's lines could just be me reaching. What is certain is that a select amount of killers and survivors have gotten away from the Entity and it's made clear in those cinematics that our characters are those individuals.
-
I do agree with you partially in the sense that some of the most interesting details about characters comes from small tidbits of info.
Take Oni for example: on paper, he's a destructive, hateful Samurai that killed farmers because he felt they were misusing his hard fought title, despite their apparent innocence to the matter. Upon further inspection of his addons, an entirely new story is told. Just through Oni's addons do we learn that he could be the bastard son of Renjiro, leading him to question his own Samurai legitimacy, fueling his crusade later on. We learn he enjoys hurting others even from a young age, as shown in the bloody handkerchief (or whatever it is) addon. Finally, and most interesting to me, he's a father. Kazan had a son named Akito who became crippled, and although Akito carried on the lineage of the Yamaoka's, he never became a Samurai due to how badly his leg healed. This trauma and blow to Kazan's ego and pride in his heritage is perhaps the biggest reason why he went on his crusade to sort out the imposter samurai. None of which is mentioned in his official, paragraph style lore.
Again, just through his addons we learn so much more about the Oni and it's insane to think so much can be gleaned just through a few sentences placed properly in specific locations.

There is so many on youtube that are just so cool especially the youtuber Mr. Envy. You think there is a chance every killer will eventually have some cool custom music. (except trapper he can have the og)
According to the Devs themselves, they'll try to make it so every killer has custom chase music. However, the PTB lacks new music for Billy and Bubba so it's kinda weird to see them rework the two chainsaw boys but not touch their audio.
-
Yeah, I really don't want to see a sequel to this game simply because of how much content is here after only 4 years of development and how much progression I and basically everyone else has put in. If they did something like Overwatch 2, slap on a fancy shmancy content pack with extra game modes and perhaps a single-player type experience, I'd be perfectly fine and actually really stoked. Uprooting everything we have now just for the sake of "the game is old, we need to start over and sell it from scratch to prove we still know how to make games!" is an awful, awful idea.

In general, digital goods are normally improved making the law be unnecessary but in the case of DBD it is hardly the case. Like in this example, real money, even if it was small was spent on Hillbilly. Now they are purposely going to make him completely unfun to use meaning the money spent is now no longer worthwhile. Only in software is this allowed but I think it no longer needs to be because it can be greatly abused. Every single killer is nerfed after release, the Halloween chapter (Laurie and Myers both nerfed), and Ash vs. Evil Dead is the best examples.
So this is a special case where BHVR is taking great advantage of the freedom without a law to fake, manipulate, bait and switch their victims.
The level of reaching in your argument is astounding. I guarantee you if you talked to anyone who knew even a sliver of actual legal cases and preceding and digital transactions, you'd be in for a rough surprise.
Just say they nerfed a killer you loved and now your throwing a hissy fit in the most mature way possible: threatening legal repercussions! My god...

If I bought a car with a turbo charged engine, but automaker issues a recall and swaps it out for a small engine because they thought it was safer for the road causing me to be dissatisfied with the performance then I have a case. Companies like BHVR shouldn't be exempt.
Laws seriously need updating.
Except there's one fatal flaw in your analogy there, bud. These are digital goods in an online multiplayer game, not a private good. That car with that engine of yours? Yeah, it's not only yours. You are not the only person who owns it in regards to a game like DBD. So get it through your head that you don't singularly have a say in the matter. That's why BHVR is exempt. Entirely different ballparks.

I honestly think people are expecting too much. Is Lisa too much money for what we get? Yeah, maybe. But no one is forcing anyone to buy her and those that love SH and/or can afford to drop money on her no problem shouldn't be targeted like they have been. Different voices would be great and I hope they add it, but since she isn't a separate survivor to Cheryl and just some deluxe skin, I assumed we wouldn't get all the same details as we do with Cheryl. This is the first time they made a skin with a new face/pose/animation - at least they are expanding bit by bit.
Considering how hype they made Legendary skins and the added cost, I think it's fair that the community is a little irked at the lack of content. A character with full perks is 500 cells, which is basically $5 in US currency, Lisa's skin is practically 3x that and she lacks perks and a unique voice and a portrait and a proper name ingame. It just feels a little half-baked and I hope that they give Lisa the love she rightfully deserves. Then maybe we can finally get James ingame, who should be coming soon (TM) if the evidence provided is to be believed.

No? They never stated that Lisa would be a completely new character. They introduced Legendary skins as slapping a SKIN on an already existing character to "change them into someone new". This includes the new pose/face/outfit. But Alessa and Lisa were never advertised as a second and third survivor to the Silent Hill DLC. It would be great to have a new icon and voice but then she wouldn't be a skin, she would be a new survivor. There's a big difference. Just don't buy Lisa if you see what you get for the cost as an unfair price.
Um, yeah they did, friend. The whole point of legendary skins is to change an existing character into an entirely new character sans perks. They also made it clear they want to add custom voices to legendary skins down the line. No one expected Lisa to be a brand new survivor that was complete, what we were expecting was a new character without perks and it's disappointing we have to wait to get her custom voice to make her complete. Alessa doesn't count because it's literally Cheryl.
