I think i only had a couple killer games where I didn't get one, and that's bc I didn't have the offering so I couldn't see the aura of the pillar. usually i just stumble upon it, I don't throw the game to find it but if i didn't have it by the time the gens were done i would slug a survivor, drop them to the gate and go look for it while the survivors heal up, open the gate and leave.
I think it'd be better if, when you equip an anniversary offering, the aura of the pillar appeared after you've completed a gen / hooked a survivor (similar to purple glyphs) so people who play normally will get it easier than people throwing games to go look for it.
OK, so after 3 times the same event they actually improved it. Good improvements, but still a little late.
But thanks.

I mean the rewards aren't role exclusive so it's not that bad tbh, you can get all 12 masks playing killer and then go back to playing survivor.
Just as I said, but we're is the fun in that. And you either randomly stumble across a piller (what never happens for me) or you tunnel for it and abbondon the game.

I second the generator condition, if nothing else. As it stands, all it takes to not get a mask it to get tunneled at 5 gens or death hooked just before the gates open. You could earn 20k BP, finish three gens, run the killer for ten minutes, and still not get a mask in that game because of an atrocious conditional under the loosely enforced anti-throw clause. Meanwhile I can go pick it up and hide in a corner until the killer closes the hatch after my team have all died on their first hook.
It doesn't actually address any kind of toxicity on it's own, and is in fact exacerbated by existing toxicity (tunneling, slugging, sandbagging, etc) because any generic way you would ruin someone's game still applies, you just lose out on an additional thing now. Also, it's a finite reward, inevitably even if every single survivor specifically threw a game and killed themselves just to get the reward, eventually people wouldn't be throwing just to earn the cosmetics (although, this does nothing to address the ongoing throwing and the like that also still occurs in general, once again).
Additionally slash alternatively, just make the masks rewards as part of the community tome challenges. Bang, easy, now everybody has to contribute to a common goal, and if the data shows that games are still somehow being thrown en masse just to achieve this... _go back to the drawing board_ . It's not exactly high concept, it just sort of exposes itself as a symptom of a lot of other basic design struggles in terms of the games actual sportsmanship and objective design and how flawed it is from the ground up, in some specific areas.
Wow. I didn't know somebody existed with more issues against this game than me XD.

I'm probably missing something, is it an inside joke? Have stopped playing as nurse since winning every game is not fun.
Is it fun to play against nurse? It doesn't seem to be?
There are 2 types of nurses.
Pro nurses, who down you in 2 seconds and casual nurses.
While the former is no fun at all, the later is very much fun because it is a constant game of who can outpredict who better, with lots of good tricks and chases and stuff.

She is not the reincarnation. When alessas dark God powers activated, her darkside got self-aware and rejected her good side like a baby sized tumor, aka Cheryl.

I've had several killers say they had a blast in my matches even when they didn't get a single kill. For some people the fun factor isn't determined by how often you survive or how often you get a sacrifice.
And then you see the endgame chat.

It takes forever to die in DBD the sequence could easily be sped so it doesn't take so long to leave and start new game or spectate players. Cut it in half I don't need my sacrifice to take all day lol
Try playing killer when one Surv waits till the last endgame minute to go out just to be toxic at the gate, then you know what long means.

But it's still stupid how fast the chances get of. If you do a chane right you win 2 seconds in a hunt. If you do it wrong you lose 5. And I have seen suviver throwing pallets with the force while there arms are in Usbekistan. How is that possible? I just think he is low tier without the need to be.
But now you, I have never heard anybody saying that he is underrated. Most say he is in the upper low half or just hot garbage. For my he is more an m1 killer than Trapper and only his box teleport makes him not useless. What do you say?

well .... gameplay isn´t really fun without perks and for the grind you still had to play live online mode. There shouldn´t be a possibility to earn bloodpoints during the custom mode. Most complain that when they for example try a new killer they hate being thrown in the deep end (because mmr doesn't work as it should) and prefer to get acquainted with the killer and its power in a practice mode first. To be honest, I've hardly ever seen anyone who wants to play custom mode all the time and never live again. Most just want an opportunity to practice. Such a mode would also be helpful for insecure survivors to learn how to counter the killer power or to learn and understand the maps and loops better.
... Wich is Basicly what a single player mode would be and actually is in games like star wars battlefront 2.
-
Wait, what? For real? Can you source this? because if you can, you just made my ######### day!!!
-
@Marc_123 said:
No extra incentive, therefore no priority. Also it would lower the playerbase online.
They would have a lot of other stuff to do first.
Why not just make costum games, where you can only play with stuff you acquired normally and in which you can't progress? Basicly how star wars battlefront 2 works but without every Stargard (perk) at your disposal.

The AI is the problem; we have zombie AI that get stuck on objects all game because they can’t path correctly, and also the cheaters who when they put the killer AI on the highest setting could perfectly predict survivor movements making it feel unfair, though they also got stuck on objects etc.
Wouldn't it be possible to do the same thing that forza is doing and just program "survatars" and "killvatars" ? (get it, because drivatars but for survs and killers?)
-
@jesterkind said:
The current explanation iirc is that while they don't dislike the idea, it'd take a lot more work than people think- every killer bot would have to know how to use every killer power and the survivor bots would have to know how to play around every killer power, on top of potentially using perks and items if that's something present in the match.
So, it's a huge amount of work upfront and more work every time they add new killers. Maybe they'll do it sometime, they seem to be working on their bots in general, but that was their explanation in the last QnA based on my hazy recollection lol.
Yes, because we RALLY would play as Surv in this mod.

Some people just get a laugh out of making other people angry or sad. It's unfortunate, but that's how many people are in real life as well.
well, pretty sure that got pjilosophical at the end, but i think its ok

If I'm being honest bullying happens alot because the game mechanics themselves are so boring that people try to find ways to have a laugh, nobody wants to hold M1 the entire game so they come up with different builds to make the game aggravating for the other side, like a basement bubba for killer or a troll swf not doing gens running head on builds
not philosophical, good answer. but if you have your fun, why not, at least, and only when you are very certain that youre gonna win, make it just a little bit suffreble for the killer.

Ive said this a year ago and Ill say it again. There are people out there, a lot of them sadly, that feel the only way they can have fun is if they are winning. My nephew was a prime example when he was younger. When Halo Reach came out he constantly asked me and his daddy to play. As soon as he was losing it changed to "I dont wanna play anymore :(" It got worse as he got older. I made a fortress in the map maker and somehow I did something by mistake that made the truck's gauss laser shoot through the walls. We discovered it by accident. There was literally no way to win against that. The laser would go through any and all cover, killing you in one hit. We were split screen so there was no way to hide from it. We try not to look at each others screen but you cant help it. Its in your peripheral vision. We agreed to stop doing it but every time my nephew was losing, he would jump on the truck and shoot through the walls. We laughed at first but told him to stop doing it. 4 mins later he does it again. We told him to stop and 5 mins later he does it a 3rd time. So we shut off the game. Then that night I removed the truck from the map. When we played again a week later my nephew was upset I took the truck out and I told him "You kept cheating. So I took it out and no one can use it". Eventually my nephew learned that losing isn't as bad as not getting to play at all. The issue with online gaming is people continue to do stuff like my nephew did for quick, unfair wins but there is no consequence. They just que up for another match. If they get caught cheating they just make another account and do it again. The people your playing with arent in the same room as you. They are who knows where in the world and you were most likely never meet them.
ahhhhh... 3 posts. it took 3 posts.

Demo is probably my second most played killer after Hag. Aside from RPD being a mess for him as he can't easily put down portals in many areas, he's...pretty balanced.
However, something about him seems to encourage groups to act the fool and be incredibly nasty. It's probably because:
- They know they can never buy him. I've had someone accuse me (hilariously) of cheating in postgame because I played him, and they thought he'd been completely removed.
- I had another say that playing him was an example of 'privilege' and that I should be ashamed. Wut.
- They've never played against him before, and are embarrassed that I managed to grab them twice off the same gen. Probably my most amusing BM recently was getting told in postgame to 'just play a normal killer scrub'.
I'm personally drawn to the rarer killers, because opponents likely won't know exactly how to play against them. Demo is a very difficult killer to learn, because his kit is extremely unforgiving and quite complex.
Hold on a second! a privilige? "ashamed of the privilige?" what kind of freaking facebook midleaged white f*** face bulshit is this?b
-
It is strong. Very strong I would say.
But it can be counterd. And since that is all the devs see and since they don't know their own game (remember when they said Sprintburst and lithe would be a good combo) they won't change #########.
-
Always mained demo since he came out and never regretted it.

@Akumakaji said:
Well, isn't the full team waiting at the exit gate to t-bag the killer, instead of leaving, a ritualistic humiliation, via non-verbal communication, that results only on one parties amusement, while humiliating the other?
Btw I don't mind all t-bagging, but I really hate the time-wasting at the exit gates. Nowadays, if I know I won't catch anyone, I will just watch a YouTube vid on my second monitor for a minute or two, till they leave. Maybe one day they will learn not to waste everyone's time.
In other situations t-bagging is the only means for quick communication between the killer and survivors that's beyond the scope of just killing and evading each other. Like when a survivor is admitting defeat, they will usually freeze in place and t-bag 2-3 times to show that they have given up. You can then show mercy of slaughter them and this t-bagging is not toxic at all.
I freaking love you for that mate. XD

This is one of the tragedies of the modern age.
On one side of this silly culture war you have the safe space brigade who find literally everything 'problematic'.
On the other side of it you have people that now feel compelled to act like gigantic prolapsed anuses to everyone to somehow own the other side.
In the middle is the vast, vast majority of the rest of us having to deal with smelly jerks from both sides and generally wanting to leave the planet.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2666087#Comment_2666087
Gen-X'er actually (just). My birthdate is remarkably close to that of Kurt Cobain's.
I see both as analogous. Both are supposed to be competitive and enjoyable for both sides, with a common respect for each other as opponents and human beings.
Sure, yelling ethnic slurs at someone before a match can rattle them and it can certainly be an effective strategy that can make it easier to win - but so's hacking. I don't think either are acceptable.
The difference between this and, say, a kendo match is that it's entirely anonymous. There is no risk of getting fined/removed/clouted for the person acting the fool, which is what brings out the CoD kiddies.
However, this sort of behavior is also the sort of thing that causes people (especially new people thinking of joining) to just quit, and eventually your game suffers for it. League of Legends ran into this problem (it was difficult to retain new players because of the septic tank of a community), and they managed to substantially turn it around with the Tribunal - leading to LoL being the biggest game in the world for a while.
I know that I've tried to recruit friends and family members into DbD, and the two factors that make it a hard sell are:
- The grind.
- The ingame community, which has an almost MOBA level of 'yeah, it sucks' reputation online.
Once again - it's incredible how much time and effort you are putting into twisty justifications for your own poor behavior. Usually when you start doing this its an indication that you know you are in the wrong.
Manner up.
It's not that hard.
I think you misunderstood my harshly here. I never have nor will ever be offending to another person who i dont know and have never met (like every online player you will encounter) for as long as i live. and this post wasnt made with the intention to get to know if it is ok to be toxic, it was made to ask the question what people actualy think when they are.
-
@StarLost said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/296878/open-question-to-everybody
Woof, where do I start with this one?
No.
Taunting the other side to break their focus is toxic. You are deliberately going out of your way to make another player unhappy in the hopes that they play worse. That is a 'toxic intent'. By this logic, yelling slurs at someone to disconcert them before a tourney is fine.
Some playful trash-talk between rivals is one thing, but teabagging strangers has always been commonly accepted as extremely BM.
Sigh, maybe it's because I'm old and grew up playing sports and participating in martial arts - but this sort of 'trash talk' is mostly something you see on TV. In actual sports, a few 'characters' excepted, it's something that gets you benched or even fined.
This may be the fuddy-duddiest thing I've ever said, but this ridiculously solipsistic generation needs to stop trying to justify being jerks and just...stop being jerks.
PS: Killers hitting survivors right after hook isn't generally a BM, it's to cut the annoying, ear-splitting scream SFX off.
Interesting. You compare a game that is basicaly tag with a horror theme, with some martial art game like wrestling. To actualy distract a person, even if it makes you "be a jerk" as you have labeld it, can be a victory bringing strategick in this kind of game, but not in martial arts, where an actual confrontation of two individuals leads to the result and not the avoiding of said situation. even though youre arguments are somewhat interesting, theire sadly invalid.
And, because i will hate myself for not saying this: Ok, boomer

sorry, that was vague.
fun story: I had a myers match where I was trying out "infinite instakill" Myers. I only got T-3 at the very end, and I mori'd a T-bagging survivor who couldn't leave out of the gates fast enough. the animation ended with their body tossed out of the gates, which was pretty funny.
fun story 2: see above, but I was playing nemesis and I had been on the ropes (the gates were open and I had 5 or 6 evenly spread hook states), and everyone was coming for the save, so I camped a little. after getting saved (I left the hook because camping is boring), they T-bagged at the entrance to the exit gate doorway area (where the door is) and they DS-baited me... forgetting they were on second hook and I brought a mori. their teammates were good sports about it, and I apologized for camping.
then im sure you agree with me on the camping topic. it is not neceserily toxic, but very unsporty and you actualy dont want to do it.
