Accidental DC isn't against the rules, but it IS under unsportsmanlike conduct. They should do more to punish it imo. It completely ruins the game for everyone else left in the match. Other games have wait times to discourage DCing, I'm pretty sure. I've heard about that from elsewhere. Otherwise just resetting the lobby and keeping your offerings would also be a nice fix if someone DCs at the very start or can't connect due to the loading screen freezing, etc.

That doesn't really matter, my point is simple: You are allowed to DC for somewhat 40% and only then the devs consider it worthy to punish. That's their tolerance, it's a simple fact. You are allowed to DC for roughly 40% of the matches and you won't get any punishment because the devs think that's fine.

I still play competitively, I just also play for fun and I just don't consider it a "win" if only one person leaves and does so through the hatch. The hatch is a boring mechanic and often a free win for survivor and most of the time the best player doesn't even get the hatch. It's the person who's afking next to it and hiding when things look bleak that does. That's just my opinion.

I honestly don't think it'd be a good idea to make being killed = depipping, either. I don't think it'd make for fun games. Skill isn't really something easily measured in games like this. There's so many things to account for, such as the skills of allies, what others are doing, etc. If they HAD to live to get pips, they'd be more likely to play SWF and bring in the OP perks (hi, DS) and the really good items. It'd probably make for more selfish players, too. And anyone who plays survivor would cry about their survival rate as it actually would account for more than leaving with an item, doing a daily, and getting gold/silver/iridescent.

Survivors would avoid feeding unnecessary kills if escaping was of higher priority, that's my point in that regard. Escaping shouldn't be a requirement for you if you play for fun, because escaping (running through the exit gate) is not fun in any way or form. It's just a few seconds of running straight forward.

One of the biggest problems in DbD is that both sides can win at the same time. There is no real competition against each other, objectively seen, which is why pip progression and match results should never be used as representation for balance.

A match can result in a 4k but all Survivors pipped. A match can result in a 0k but even the Killer pipped. Especially towards the end of the match, Survivors that are still alive most likely pipped anyway, so they're a lot more likely to throw the match by going for stupid rescue actions. Stuff like that wouldn't happen if escape was more important or even a requirement to "win".

I personally find it preferable that both sides can technically win, even if one side doesn't actually escape or stop the escaping. While escaping can be fun especially after a very tense chase, I don't think it necessarily measures skill, either. I had a game where everyone got downed with NOED and the DS user made it out without even trying to get a single person off the hook. Pretty sure there was at least two people if not three and one of the hooks was bound to be safe. The player didn't play well, but was gloating about being the only one to get out. There's more to a "win" than just escaping is my point.

I do get that using survival and death rates can be a bit strange considering you don't necessarily have to escape/kill everyone to pip. What would you suggest them measure instead when measuring for balance? I know what the community says regarding possible issues, but maybe there's too many voices for them to hear out everyone. Whether you pip or not doesn't always mean anything, either. I don't believe I've every lost a pip as killer and when I lose one as survivor, it's usually thanks to survivors farming you, which I don't think is intended.

The fact that both sides can "win" (or pip) in the same game is one of the biggest flaws of the ranking system.

Its ok just do like all these killers arguing  how they dont have to play with certain things do and derank yourself, the ques are instant and you never get dodged people can shame it all they want but I didn't pay for lobby master 3000 I paid for dead by daylight and as long as I don't DC enough for a ban then who cares whether they have fun, do you think they care about ruining your game? Do you think they care if you  have fun getting dodged for sometimes 2 hours at a time only to get some laggy match where some poor guy gets face camped right from the start or the killer dc ? Putting me right back in lobby master 3000..... No I'm fine and  I don't care a bit if they're miserable because that's the way they are to me and as some of you have said before when survivors complain " it's not your opponents job to make sure you have fun"

The killer players purchased a horror game where the killer was advertised as powerful monster, just read through the steam description and have a laugh,
They didnt get that either, so deal with your lobby master 3000

I can pip without even getting a single sacrifice. It's weird. I do just about everything else to get it, though. 8 hooks and lots of chasing/destroying. I almost always have fun matches as killer, even with new players.

Sounds like low rank gameplay. 8 hooks without a kill is something I can only afford on low ranks. Not on high ranks.

    Or a farming game

Over 2 years and the devs still pretend as if voice comms and coordination werent a thing.

Well I dont know what to say
But sadly I doubt that BHVR will ever adress this balance gap, they are too scared of upsetting the survivor community that has been used to the voice comm advantage for so long now

Devs, seriously, please do something about this. I have lost countless offerings, especially Red Envelopes because killers keep quitting right after the match starts. This is ridiculous when I'm p3, level 50, and it take a forever to get ONE envelope in a bloodweb. Not to mention, I've lost A LOT of bloodpoints offerings, etc., over the time played because this is an on-going issue and people don't care. The moment I report someone for quitting early, nothing is done. This is getting ridiculous. (Same goes for a full set of survivors quitting when you play as killer and your offering is burned.) When I tell the person they are reported, they say things like "well the devs won't do anything. I spend too much money on their game to be banned." It's such a bad set up. Please, make it so offerings aren't burned. I hate wasting BP and going through 3 matches back to back where a killer dc's the moment the match starts and I don't get enough BP to get through another bloodweb.

The solution is to punish DCing.

Your suggestion doesnt work since SWF can abuse that and DC for eachother, dodging moris etc

You have to realize that tunneling is just the optimal play most of the times.
Whether she could have landed an extra hit on your friend is debatable and imnot gonna comment on that without footage, but sometimes you will lose your actual victim if you do that

Be honest though, she wasn't playing in an 'optimal' way, she was mad because of Dead hard. I can understand Sprint burst but Dead hard? ######### is the logic. Next thing you know, Deja vu is considered a toxic genrushing perk.

With all the ######### killers have to go through sometimes, im not surprised.
But again, without footage its hard to tell. But does it hoenstly matter what the reason was?

Kind of yeah. By the way, I totally understand the ######### killers go through nowadays. The gens are horrible nobody heals and everyone just rushes them. If I play Wraith or Billy, they won't go so hard. But when I'm Spirit or Nurse they will not give me a chance.

I get that it's the aim of the game but holy ######### some people are unbelievably good at rushing. Fck that self care nerf, that's what caused this. If it was never nerfed killers wouldn't be going through such extreme genrushing. I hope the devs revert the changes because nobody heals. Getting instadowned isn't even that bad since 3 gens are done by the time you kill someone now that everyone has realised how useless SC is.

What has the SC nerf do with genrushing?
SWF use to adrenaline-genrush for ages now.

  • Moonrise is better than hallowed blight in all regards.

The only thing the devs need to adress now is how you can use DCing to deny points and a lil more points on the killer side.

Posted this on steam discussions, got a lot of mixed opinions.
Surprisingly a lot of people supported decisive. ikr?

I'll paste what I posted there.

    Here's my list

    1) Decisive, obvious reasons, it's just a crutch perk and seems to attract the most sc.umbag survivors. How fair is it to down someone only to get stunned by ds for 4 seconds, then having to chase the survivor over again. It's not fun. I refuse to use that perk.
Yes you can juggle the survivor blah blah but next time you down them you'll have to deal with it again.

    2) Adrenaline, another crutch perk, it just gives it to you for free, if the survivor is injured you have to first catch up to them and then hit them 2 more times which in most cases you wont accomplish since the exit gates will most likely be open by then. plus if the survivor is in dying state it's just a free gateaway.

    3) Borrowed time, another crutch perk promoting bad saves making it unfun for the killer. You can say it counters camping but most of the time you see this in toxic swf groups that always unhook infront of your face. It's not fun.

    Killer side:
Possibly noed but I don't usually have a problem with it, you can completely deny it making it non-existant.

    Opinions?

Adrenaline and BT dont need to be removed, just nerfed.
DS needs a complete rework though

I cant believe people still think Billy is the most balanced killer.

Crosses the map in 5 seconds, instadowns a survivor 10 seconds into the game before other survivors have even got to touch a gen

    Balanced.

use your ears and eyes. They really help, yea i know you don't believe me but open your eyes and listen more carefully. if you get hit in first 10s of the game by billy chainsaw (or if you get hit next to a gen you're working on) that's 100% on you, not that billy is that good, you are that bad.

It's not me that gets hit that early luckily it's teammates.

The thing with Billy is he can land on top of survivors before they have a chance to make it to a pallet. Everybody knows this, Then it's instachainsaw and down.

No other killer can just fly across the map and instadown people like he can. No way he is the most balanced killer.

You can dodge the chainsaw, while he recovers from stopping you can go to the next pallet and loop him. Thats how you play vs billy.

You dont think billy is balanced, so what is the most balanced killer in your opinion? Nurse?

Several factors come together at the moment. The recent killer nerfs together with the event (low coin amounts for killer) and the fact that you actively try to bully killers away from the game simply caused a lot of killers not to paly anymore.

Hell no and I waste all addons/offerings?

That should be changed as well, of course. Someone dc's during loading screen = the match doesn't start and everybody keeps their offerings etc.

Ah so that can be easily abused by SWF

I get your point. If they see a mori offering, only one of the SWF group would need to dc. In the end, none of them would reach the critical rate of disconnects to get banned.

So don't show "secret" offerings anymore in the loading screen. The same goes for mist, map offerings and black ward. Then people would have no "reason" to dc during the loading screen. The only dc's remaining would be legit dc's.

I had survivors DC if I throw in good exp offerings too, they suggested a sweaty tryhard I guess.....

Then let's just quit showing any other player's offerings in the loading screen at all.

Alternatively, I should ask. Why should killers be given the chance to catch survivors?

Probably because it's the objective of the game. All survivors get caught because of there own errors, not because the game let them.

The killers job is to kill. Not to let you have a free escape because it's 'fair'.

Survivors "job" of the game is to escape. Any way possible. I suppose that would mean looping until all gens are done is free game, too? Maybe add on adrenaline for good measure. Survivor's job is to survive, after all. I'm not even saying to stop. I'm saying that if you're doing something that takes skill, you should be rewarded for it. A doctor standing next to someone with his hand out isn't really skilled play. Someone hanging around nearby just to immediately down the person if they're unhooked isn't really skilled play, either. I'm not saying there isn't times that call for such methods. I'm just saying it's boring. I'd get bored if I did that as killer.

Why do you only take a portion of what I post and omit the rest of it btw? Genuinely wondering.

A doctor standing next to the hook doesnt require any skill yes, but if the survivors are stupid enough to still rush the hook, then they are even less skilled.

I'm surrounded by potatoes. D: Just kidding. I'm just suggesting to reward killers more for venturing off. Someone I watch often was lamenting over the fact that he was playing "fair" (hooking everyone twice) and was still unlikely to pip as it wasn't rewarding. I just think it should be more rewarding to spread the pain, I guess. I've also been told by campers that they camp 'cause it's easy to pip. I dunno the truth behind that as I don't camp myself, though.

Nah camping is not a good strategy if you want to pip. But we need an actual gameplay incentive to leave the hook and chase a fresh survivor, for example global gendebuff for fresh hooks or sth like that. The rank system is uttelry pointless

Like, for instance, gens would have a damaged affect applied to them upon finding a new victim? I'd be up for something like that. Oh, what do you think of if camping and tunneling a survivor doesn't see any impact to the gens, but action speeds will be slowed if you're away from the hooked, chasing after someone new from your last hook (or, if no hooks, just chasing someone). That way it may give killers more time to catch survivors, too. Yeah, I know, though I still think it should positively impact rank and points to change up victims and stuff. It could be like an added benefit. Like the strawberry on top of the cake. :3

Well the advantage you get from not-tunneling needs to be significant, othwerwise tunneling will be the better option.

Sadly the survivor community will never let such an idea pass since it would basically buff killers

Sprint Burst - Press your running button and it gives you a burst of speed for a short period of time.

New Sprint Burst - I think Sprint Burst should be changed to be the same as Dead Hard. Not in the sense of needing to be injured but in the sense of needing to press a button to activate it. It allows for more strategic gameplay and activating it at vital points when you actually need it.

The issue with current Sprint Burst is that you’re forced to use it because it is combined with your running option. It would be better to be able to run normally and then be able to press “A” on Xbox for example to activate it. This would help to make using Sprint Burst a little more competitive, kind of like how killers never really know if you have Dead Hard till you use it.

NOTE - Just to be clear you should NOT have to be injured to activate it. The only change is adding an activate button in general but can use it at any health state no matter if injured or healed.

This has been considered by the devs in the beginning but was deemed too OP

For instance, I've had one too many doctors hook me or someone else and just like chill by the hook with no one nearby, waiting for someone foolish enough to approach for a save. That tactic works wonders on solo play or with randoms in a group of SWF as you can't be like "he's camping, do gens." If they catch someone very early on and decide to camp or if it's a three vs one and they decide to camp, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. You expect it in certain situations (end game, everyone's visible and nearby/swarming, etc.) and I'd venture to say it's okay when addressing toxic behavior.

My worry is what others have echoed. It doesn't benefit the killer to switch targets and play "fair" as much as it should and it should benefit the killer less to just chill by the hook, waiting for survivors to come to them. I like being a driving force in the game when I'm killer. I don't usually camp, except when gates are open and only sometimes.

He probably didnt see anyone on BBQ, so he assumes everyone is nearby. I still dont understand why the BBQ aura was nerfed this much

I remember a while ago, it happened to someone I was playing with while I was solo. The killer got mad at me 'cause I worked on gens instead of going for the save while everyone else was trying to dive bomb the hook. I don't remember what rank I was at the time. Recently, it happened in the green ranks, around 10 or 9 I think. I'm usually higher up (took a break from the game) and it may work well around those ranks, I'm not sure.

I know what you mean, though. BBQ didn't need to be nerfed so much. I honestly don't think lockers should have been buffed.

Of course there are always some special snowflakes.
But since the aura nerf I have seen me regularly in the situation where nobody lights up on BBQ and I have no target, so I stick closer to the hook than I would do usually

I can't remember how often I had to try this until finally no one disconnected.
But it took me a long time.

I tried about 15-20 times, then I gave up.
I will try again once BHVR gets their shiat together and punishes DCing

Just played a match with a Legion that attacked you twice and would walk around you until you were downed. You can’t counter it, because then they hit you.

Never understood the hate, but after multiple franks mixtapes and this? 0 counterplay, and require 0 skill.

The killer has been designed with the survivors fun intended, not to create a viable killer.
But apparently ur still not satisfied

Survivors often accuse killers for tunneling and camping.
In my games often the killer tunnels a survivor on the last hook, the obsession if he has remember me or a special toxic one. Most killers camp because survivors rush to the hook to farm the survivor and not waiting until the killer is occupied with an other survivor or is away kicking a gen or pallet.

When I play killer I find it amusing how often overaltruistic survivors swarm the hook or the basement. And yes, if I can take someone out of the game by focusing him down I will do it.

What would you like to see changed?
What should a killer do different and what behavior do you as a survivor promote?
What viable alternatives do the killers have in those specific situations?

What BHVR needs to do is introducing some incentive to get fresh survivors on hooks, but a built in, not another perk

Question to killer mains, survivor mains are welcomed to join in as well. This is completely opinionated for putting killers in tiers but do you guys think that all killers deserve to be S-Tier?

I notice that throughout my ranks I see certain killers more often while others a lot less. Around my rank 20s and 15s I used to see a lot of Trapper, Wraiths especially, sometimes Hag.

Around rank 10 or below I would see Myers, Hillbilly, or Spirit at most.

Around rank 5-8 I would see a mixture of “high tier” killers.

Actually as much as I don’t play killer I play Spirit in my higher ranks while I play Trapper or LF in my lower ranks when rank reset happens.

So do you guys feel as if every killer should be S-Tier? Devs mentioned that not all killers have to be the best like Nurse but they can be more “fun” to play (they made this example with Legion.)

A tier system is usually (in proper balanced games) shifting all the times.
Only in DBD we stick to the same tier system for the entirety of the game because of the balance gaps.

If the question is whether all killers should be viable at high rank against SWF`, then my answer is yes
