  • It seems that "All Kill" received more negative than positive praise. "A Binding of Kin" had that likewise, but they didn't seem to suffer the same fate for some reason. Maybe the killer's different look and all the discussion over how he fits in completely overshadowed her character.

I think there was also confusion amongst some in the community who believed the chapter was going to be lgbtq+ and subsequently the post-discussion/ arguments that came from this not happening further buried it.

Basically, Yun-Jin was lost in the shuffle. Maybe she'll rise when some good perk combinations surrounding hers are created by influencers, or some new, standout cosmetics are made?

  • It's overall very decent! I like the changes, and the new maps are beautiful.

  • It was being used as a perk whereby people could abuse it to force killers to take the hit because it was funny and be able to complete gens without any fear of the killer. It was utilised as an offensive tactic instead of a defensive tactic.

Now that it's lost that value, those people don't want to know anymore, so instead decided to ditch it. However, it still has good use to take out a killer, or even use it offensively by forcing a locker or vault grab. It just stops cheesing.

  • I've absolutely hated doing SWF with others. It distracts me from the game and takes away any real horror or suspense, because the comms just completely breaks the immersion. For me it just becomes vapid and souless. Also, I became less focused on my skill because I could just rely on my team.

As a solo player, I've found I've become a far better player at solo ranks. It's more immersive and atmospheric. It's also fun coming across other survivors who act in unique ways and each trial is so unpredictable. Also, I never expect to "win" every time, but instead set my own individual goal, using my own randomized setups, rather than have comms try to influence me.

It depends on the individual, but for me SWF feels like easy mode and loses pretty much all of its charm. The unpredictability of solo makes me feel I've earned my stripes.

  • Whether it's the Holy Trinity or not, Outlast would still be a great addition. There's still a deep cave full of horror to explore and that's not including BHVR originals.

Yet in terms of a Trinity, I would say going back it was RE, Silent Hill and Fatal Frame. It's probably different now, but those were the big three during the rise of survival horror in the era of PSone/ PS2.

  • Having either his tentacle-themed Mori to hand, or the prospect of using a missile launcher or other assorted weapons and even his mutations appeal to me most.

However, I'd not be upset by any of those as killers.

  • Sometimes, opening the Exit Gates whilst running both NOED and Blood Warden can punish those survivors who act like numpties.

  • Looks like he got into a fight with Pinhead and came out rather badly 😁.

He looks rather evil and daunting to face. Good job!

  • & to you too Sir/Madam/Mx!

    Please accept my Messiah Raccoon:

Except Leatherface, who likes to dress up as other humans!

  • There are many, many killer-possibilities in the RE universe and each would be a welcome addition. You could get a few chapters out of that franchise alone. Lady Dimitrescu would be as welcome to me as Nemesis, Mr. X, Jack Baker and many more!

  • @premiumRICE said:

yeah, I never saw somebody so fast running with a chainsaw maybe hill billy doesn't fit into the game and well damn nurse teleporting whats this a fantasy magic world? eeew

But Nurse and Hillbilly at least are human! At time, I feel like Dr. Doolittle! 😁

  • I feel it's interesting with the various discussions. Granted, some discussions can be frustrating to read, but mostly I prefer the discussions involving questions and fun stuff, rather than the rants.

It's actually enjoyable and a good way to kill some time.

  • I like to think it's the axe because it reflected the anger of Philip Ojomo and maybe the wildness of his temper is appropriate for swinging blindly.

  • Probably training to get dem muscles!

Seriously, I get that it can be used during the trial to distract the killer or force a mistake and that makes sense. The teabagging at the exit gate just shows you were unable to catch a player who dwells in their mother's basement, soaked in cheap cider and crisps, and who ultimately decided their ideal partner was a pillow with a Sailor Moon girl imprinted on it. A little annoying, but reassures you the path you chose in life could have been worse.

  • Good guy Legion! Reminds me when I had the exact same problem with a survivor constantly pranking and chasing me around, but the Doctor player too seemed to take exception to this - tunnelling hard and cqmping him, even when he tried to use me as a distraction.

In return, when he was on the hook I nodded at the Doc and went on my merry way. 1 hook kill.

  • Quentin most definitely deserves it. Poor, selfless individual (of which I cannot remember ever playing against a toxic one!), who has been forever trapped in animated pain because of the design. I hope he gets one befitting of him.

yes i posted this at 4 am and it was my fist post i didnt think anyone would read it

Oh God, yeah! People love posts like this! There are a couple on these forums who are well-known for setting up discussions that harness strong reactions.

    And welcome, btw :D

  • Entitlement stretches so far into issues in society. Those people can get what they want instantly; take offence at the mildest of happenings; get away with what they wish because of online anonymity.

Those issues within Dead By Daylight feel like a symptom of this and may be found in so many past times.

It can only change with the individual. Unfortunately, due to so many variations and reasons for the attitude to occur, it is here to stay for some time. People just need to learn to become more empathic and understanding of what triggers them, then own it. If those individuals decide to look at themselves as someone who needs to constantly mould, earn and improve, rather than this whole idea that they are perfection and deserve good fortune, and understand to treat others as they wish to be treated, then maybe we can move beyond it.

  • I guess slasher is the most basic genre? A vague genre would be survival horror, but that then negates the killer's role.

  • In terms of the comments afterwards, first of all you won't actually have as many negative comments as you think you will but the mind has an annoying habit of remembering negative moments stronger than positive (due to fight-or-flight reactions). Most either don't respond, leave a basic "gg" or even joke or compliment a particular play. It won't be as toxic as believed.

However, you will get whiners, for which there are some ways to deal with:

    1. The simplest option is ignore, block and head towards the next trial. What people hate more than being insulted is being ignored.

    2. Make a good-hearted joke .. then follow the 1st option. Not an insult, but something to prove your not really bothered.

    3. Get into character! I love this. Once, some guy had a gloat over beating me, so I responded how I imagined The Wraith would - poetic, dark and mystical. The guy actually was decent to me after that! It's also fun growling away as Hillbilly, and only using quotes from Silent Hill 3 as Cheryl Mason. Can make some funny chats!

As for in-game, you can either treat all players as advanced AI, so you depersonalise any actions that bother you.

Alternatively, take it the other way and remember what you see in horror movies. Sure, in a game torch-clicking and teabagging is slightly different to Ripley coming out in a robot suit to face the Xenomorph queen, but effectively it's their way of protecting a weaker person by distracting you or shouting "COME GET SOME, B****!" as they do in the movies. Afterall, taking away all the lore, basically each trial is a mini-slasher. Be the character in your own improvised movie!

    Hope you have fun!

  • It's a good tier list that works for you, so it is interesting to know what perks you find more useful than others.

It's very hard to have a definitive tier list for anything in this game. Everyone has perks/killers/items that they play best with, whereas may be useless in another's hands.

Mine would differ quite a bit from you, but for a few examples:

β€’ Leader and Deja Vu would be higher.

β€’ Distortion, Empathy and Borrowed Time would be a tier up.

β€’ Red Herring is pretty effective for me, so I'd have that higher.

β€’ Fixated would be a fair bit lower.

  • Gloat over the fact they beat you.

  • I tend to see a keyholder as a prime target. I don't tunnel because I prefer the challenge, but if a keyholder is amongst others doing a gen, then they'll be the one I'll take out first.

One round I ended one survivor then remembered a Jane had a key, so rather than search for gens I roamed around and saw them all together. Split them up; Jane got the hatch as I pressured her and the rest was easy pickings.

  • Her face is better proportioned now, and the features are smoother; removing some of the harsher angles. Absolutely an improvement in making her more realistic.

  • He did a lot of research and he certainly has put the hours in to come to his conclusions. For him, it's extremely accurate.

However, bear in mind that his list was purely a subjective experience. For example, he may not find Hillbilly as easy to play with as Blight, yet someone else would fibd it the other way round.

It's his opinion of his experience, but if you come to another conclusion it's just as valid and accurately shows your skillset with these killers.

His list is fun but really just see it as a level of difficulty in terms of success. If you play Trapper or Trickster and 4k often, then that's a badge of honour. How good you are with your killers is most important.

  • The Xenomorph would be my big win, but there are many that would also be very welcome, including:

β€’ Walter Sullivan (Silent Hill 4) a.k.a The Orphan

β€’ Jane Prentiss (The Magnus Archives) a.k.a The Corruption

β€’ The Keeper (The Evil Within)

β€’ The Driller Killer (Slumberparty Massacre 2)

β€’ Hank Thompson (Alice Isn't Dead) a.k.a The Thistle Man

β€’ Mr. Scratch (Alan Wake) a.k.a The Darkness

β€’ Vaas Montenegro (Far Cry 3) a.k.a The Lunatic

β€’ Junko Enoshima (Danganronpa) a.k.a The Despair

β€’ Bloody Mary a.k.a The Reflection

β€’ Kayako Saeki (Ju-on The Grudge) a.k.a The Grudge

β€’ Takaya Sakaki (Persona 3) a.k.a The Wheel of Fortune

β€’ Jennifer Check (Jennifer's Body) a.k.a The Succubus

So many more on top too!

  • There's a few reasons and sometimes there are rounds which feels like your team mates are running on AI from the days of the Spectrum, but there are numerous possibilities:

    β€’ Moments of panic

β€’ Bad day at the office - they may actually be good, but it's a day where nothing seems to work.

    β€’ Lack of observation

β€’ Distraction, both in game and IRL

β€’ Really clever killers. A great killer can still 4k, regardless of the killer being used.

β€’ Not understanding their opponent. Playing both sides often overcomes this.

There are many other possibilities. You seem to have been much more unlucky than me, but you can only do what you're armed with. Still, each trial offers new opportunities so carry on and take the rough with the smooth.

  • Nope! You were doing as was right for you. Those players you came across are perhaps just amazingly bitter that they're not good enough. Disconnecting after using of Lithe really doesn't deserve even insults!

Killers who are willing to learn and adapt will find ways of playing the trial to their advantage.

Afterall, you've paid for this game to play what you feel is the most enjoyable build for you!

  • I apprecoate this thread a lot. I've come across more nicer people than toxic people by a large margin. Every community has toxicity, I mean sheesh - the Silent Hill boards had a lot of it, but again it was the minority being vocal.

Also, my definition of toxicity is quite specific. I don't count teabagging or clicking, because if I was trying to distract a killer in real life I too would mock it to pull them away. Toxicity is mostly the salty comments and purposeful griefing. I heard somewhere some consider certain map offerings toxic!! That's just complaining.

  • Philip Ojomo has had some of the worst luck and experiences for me. However, people like Lisa, Caleb, Rin and some others have also had a very rough time of it.

  • The game is far more complex to code with constant additions and changes. Also, trying to make a game that's fun and enjoyable, whilst having to deal with some people who just mock them over the most pettiest of problems must feel unrewarding.

Granted, there are frustrations, but bugs are not nearly as problematic as the various individuals who just act as toxic, entitled dicks.

There are (fortunately) many players who are decent, fun and willing to be challenged. More than it sometimes feels. Yet the main problem isn't to do with bugs overall; it's due to a small yet annoyingly vocal portion of the community with no decency. The developers are competent; some of the players aren't.

  • Oddly, there is one occassion with The Wraith that actually works surprisingly well! Combining Distressing with The Beast add-on and Unnerving Presence is pretty fun! People tend to make more mistakes with this as they not only watch out for the skill checks, but also looking for any sign of The Wraith makes it more distracting.

    @HelloSidney said:

I found him. I would drop a screenshot, but that'd just ruin the fun.

Well done guys! Silly fact: whilst editing it, I put Michael in first but as I was editing the sign I messed up. Needed to do some editing, but also then needed to find Myers again. That was not as easy as I thought.😁

  • @DoritoHead said:

    Found him!

Good work! You found him before he hit Tier 3 woth Judith's Tombstone! You get to live😁

  • The Hag feels the most fatal, as she basically rips out your throat and tears out your liver. The blood loss would be horrific, not to mention the pain involved.

Adiris would be the least fatal. If the survivor just keeps their mouth shut they could probably survive a while longer. If her mori was more like the Puker necromorph, it would be way more effective.

  • For survivor:

β€’ Deja Vu: this has been so efficient in avoiding 3-gen scenario and works with a strong, tactical build.

β€’ Lightweight: has saved me a few times when seeing killers approach from a distance or escaping risky situations.

β€’ We'll Make It: get the troops back quickly into action, or healed in time before the killer tries to get a quick down. Also, can quickly turn around an injured group in a jiffy.

β€’ Empathy: great to use not just as a quick way of helping those in need, but also seeing what the killer was doing.

    For killer:

β€’ Lightborn: people armed with torches are no longer a problem. Plus, with good bluffing, survivors can be tricked for quite some time.

β€’ Spies From The Shadows: exceedingly underrated scouting perk that's helped reveal survivors many times. Those crows work hard for me!

β€’ Forced Penance: not so sure why I like it so much, but it seems to be rather effective in making survivors more cautious. Games appear slower with it, for some reason.

β€’ Mad Grit: just mad fun!

  • I have nearly 0 interest in checking those streams. There's been one exception where a survivor was exceptionally kind to a really poor performance of mine, so I viewed his site and gave a compliment to them. Otherwise, it's not that I see them in a negative way; I just have no real desire to.

  • It was on Hawkins and I was about 2/3 the way through a totem cleanse when the last gen was completed. The totem lit up as I cleansed it, followed by a survivor being hit into an injured state a second or 2 after. A very lucky chain of events!

  • Some killers will do what they can to win as well as some survivors will. As long as this exists there will always be people getting mad and voicing their opinions. Until people learn to respect the other side (or at least be empathic), this attitude will not change.

There's nothing wrong with feeling mad, but it becomes problematic when they take it out on others. Even if it's gloating over a victory, that normally comes from someone who has been mad and acted thus before. Those people need to learn more about being dignified. It's only a game, and everyone has bad rounds.

  • Imagine if he were to make the mistake of inviting Myers and Pyramid Head together for a chat. Talk about dead air!

  • Kate and Jane are more my type in terms of empathy, curves and positivity. Although I could drop it all for Cheryl, mind!

  • Okay, maybe not the best but by far the most fun.

  • Highly unlikely, but I chose Brad purely because the Entity can take people at death, and maybe this could've happened to Brad as Nemesis gave him some unwanted tentacle action.

The Nurse : Sally Smithson was always about having a family with her newly found husband, Andrew, in their new made wooden house- after a while of settling down, Andrew's co-worker gave Sally a visit explaining her husband had died during work. She had no way of supporting herself and so she had to go out to find work.

She found work in a nearby asylum called Crotus Prenn and she started off at basic- night guard, and many other jobs that were easy money for her. She grew in her ranks and that only came with hardships. She saw many things that normal people could not easily bear. Over twenty years she grew insane and had thoughts to free people from the asylum and purify them. In September she hit her edge and finally threw herself off killing 50 patients and 4 workers. Only Sally "survived" that night and she was out of it, she was being taken to the hospital when the ambulance never arrived. Police found the ambulance crashed and the staff dead.

THEORIES- I saw one theory and I might add on more but the nurse has a wound on her lifted shoulder that looks like she has been hooked, now I think she was a survivor in her own way but eventually the entity had snatched her up to put her in its cruel game, in her Mori she chokes the survivors just like she did the patients but she caresses the face of the survivor and I think she is trying to help the survivors escape the hell they were put in, which in her way she thought was the nicest or best thing she could do.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/26LPO5DT1F3T/render-nurse-website-1.png

    HER PERKS:

Stridor- This allows the perk holder to hear their victims breathing/grunts of pain, so hold your breath when you're near Ms. Sally.

Thanatophobia- is the fear of one's own death or the process of dying, the survivor's bravery/hope is diminished when either injured or hooked making them receive an action speed penalty.

A Nurse's Calling- This lets the nurse see where and when someone is either healing themselves or healing someone else making it easy for her to find someone(which I think is op but i mean go off ig).

I thought so too, but a few people said she was always a killer.

There are some interesting ideas about though, like when she blinks it is her trying to escape the realm, as she knows it rips through the different levels, but each time it hurts like Hell, hence her scream and fatigue. Also, her floating may be the Entity moving her, since it's aware Sally has developed this skill, so keeps her exhausted to prevent her escaping. I mean, she is not just suffocated but also floats around as if she's been hanged.

She has the most potential to be empathic and be a major asset to survivors and the Entity seems to comprehend this, so keeps her heavily subdued.

Perhaps the hook wound wasn't when she was a survivor, but a strong-armed tactic used to show her what happens to survivors to try to control her initially.

  • My most hated is The Cannibal. Not because of the "basement camp" thing (if anything, the ones I encounter are amongst the fairest!), but because of the fact I can never bloody win against him! Ever! I cannot recall the last time I won against Bubba. Also, as a tip, please for all that is holy do not gather together when a madman with a chainsaw that can take down multiple targets is in the vicinity. It WILL end in much sadness.

  • Killer:

    Perk - Trigger

A perk which has a cooldown of about 80/70/60 seconds. When the killer breaks a gen, it becomes more volatile. The next time a skill check is failed, the explosion knocks the survivor into the injured state if healthy, and on a bleed-out timer if already injured. This affects all survivors working on the gen.

    Survivor:

    Perk - Double Glazing

A perk which either x amount of uses depending on the tier. A survivor can activate a ledge (takes a few seconds), which when a killer vaults it they stumble, which adds maybe 3-5 seconds of "stun" time. The vault then returns to normal.

  • There is absolutely nothing wrong with this idea. There could be some great alternatives that mix in with their style, lore or whatever. For example, these are some random ideas:

Trapper: Forces a survivor, using his foot on their back, to slam their face into a trap.

Wraith: Ripping the head a spine out whilsy pressing all his weight on their back.

Hillbilly: Chainsaws the belly, then reaches in and squeeze.

  • Well, it could be worse. They could do a Konami and introduce a themed Pachinko Machine!

If a dating game were made, I hope it's just one of those fan-made apps or steam games like those that have people date sharks or Bowser or whatever. Not sure if BHVR would benefit from this genre well.
