  • I've not seen much in the way of tunneling since the change. I think I've only experienced it once since. The others have just not been so scared to whack and grab a recently unhooked survivor who somehow walks in front of the killer again.

Obviously, DS isn't used as much, but I've still noted DS being used on killers. Really, if survivors didn't want to suffer incase of tunneling, DS is still powerful ... just no longer able to effectively wave it in front of a killer's face whilst they finish a gen under their nose.

  • This is clearly the Dead By Daylight equivalent of when the great Spinal Tap discovered you could make amps go to 11!

There wont be that much more unusual challenges. DBD-players want it as easy as possible, so they complained about the Challenges in Tome 1, when it takes them more than 1 game to complete them.

So we will have more Challenges which are like "Break 25 Pallets/Generators" or "Repair 15 Generators" and stuff like that. Because those are easy enough for the standard-DBD-player.

But because the Challenges should not be done in 2 hours, they need to be grindy. So yeah, thanks to the players who are not willing to go out of their way (or their Perk Build) for more than 1 game, we have those super-grindy and boring Challenges.

This website has randomly generated win conditions, but some are rather interesting or fun, without being toxic. Worth checking out and maybe BHVR might get some ideas for challenges too:

    https://dbd-randomizer.com/DBD-Randomizer.php

  • 1. Maybe not for humans, but animals as pets of livestock will most probably suffer as people become more engrossed in these strange worlds. Addiction to gambling, video games and phones is already a huge concern, so imagine what this VR would do! It'll more likely be a breakdown in society and real life gatherings. Maybe the human race may decrease due to people prefering to have intercourse with anime characters, but who knows.

    2. Travelling to different countries maybe, but I would imagine tourism would take a huge hit.

I could see this tech taking off with people searching for this alternate paradise, but all I can think of is a quote from Silent Hill 3 by Douglas Cartland:

"A paradise for castrated sheep, maybe".

  • Just a theory, but as survivors keep dying and returning, maybe it's insinuating that death occurs as often as the day comes, or that death is as natural as daylight.

  • I still remember that Tome one challenge of using NOED to take out 2 survivors endgame. Those were tough times! :D

I prefered the single challenge ones that required certain perks to the "earn 5 devout emblems in silver" ones as they were more involved.

I'd like to see some more unusual ones, such as completing the gen in the main building; find a glowing cell batch in the arena or even taking a hit yourself whilst saving a survivor off the hook in the endgame collapse. Killers are a bit trickier for variety, but maybe defending the main building gen or discover some lore within the realm.

I know there are better suggestions, but I think either more things need to be added to the trials (even as a one off, such as those red thingies), or even allow a set amount of trials to use perks that player may not have to complete a challenge using it.

  • Toxic would be the wrong word. Sounds to me like a devastatingly clever build which takes out both those hiding from the shock and those caught out in it.

  • The closest I could find any reason why (I know there shouldn't be, but for amusement purposes) was a website which gives 350 names you shouldn't call your baby, due to various cultures, etc..

Yet, the site has names like "Succubi" on it. WHO IN THE HELL WOULD NAME THEIR KID SUCCUBI!!

Of course, there is also the darkest name of "Tim" there too - which explains a friend of mine at least!๐Ÿ˜

  • "Silent Hill" was my first purchase and I have absolutely no regrets.

  • No. You can, but you'll always be an average player at best until you learn how to overcome adversity. Fun is challenging yourself. If it's too easy it merely dumbs the mind.

  • Nemesis, on the basis of his tentacle-fatality, arsenal of weaponry and having "S.T.A.R.S." being chanted during the chase. I find him more intimidating than Mr.X.

I wouldn't be upset if it wasn't though; there are so many great characters to choose from. Even William Birkin would be a great choice! The only one I would be uncertain of would be Wesker - he would more likely add cheese than fear.

  • I feel it would probably like waking up from a dream, back at the campfire.

It would probably feel different to exiting the gates and running towards the campfire, since the hatch wasn't created by the Entity, so the sensation would be quite different.

  • If it were one or the other, Alien wins for me hands down.

However, Predator would not be unwelcome. It's got a game of its own though, so alongside Jason it's not likely. Not impossible, mind!

  • Seems a good idea! It's not taking away from anyone else and it's a positive action that may encourage more positive behaviours.

    Good suggestion!

  • I've a survivor build called "Baldrick", based on the character on Blackadder and his "cunning plans"

Slippery Meat; Babysitter; For the People; Object of Obsession

Basically, the ideas (perks) aren't always as great as they thought (either next to useless or not 100% a benefit to the survivor).

For killer, I have the "Home Alone" build, based on the movie of the same name:

Iron Maiden; Dragon's Grip; Make Your Choice; Overcharge

In short, the map is effectively "booby trapped" to either alert or endanger the survivor. Using Trapper for this makes it pretty fun!

iirc that pyro thing was from Monkey Island 3, in the first one he was a ghost and a zombie in the 2nd one. In the second one, as you can see in the image, he used a voodoo doll to inflict pain. I think that would be a really creative way to injure survivors somehow.

Maybe like his version of torment? He needs to inflict them, but perhaps can inflicted statuses on them such as slowing them down or cry in pain? Would be good to have a new status option too, but I don't know Monkey Island that well to say what he could have. Maybe control movement briefly or prevent certain actions?

  • I had to look him up, but apparently he uses pyrokinesis and I don't recall any killers who have control over fire. Also, a pirate killer would be fun, so could work!

  • I could sort of see it as a cosmetic. As a paragraph, maybe-ish but other than a silly Scooby costume it'll be Shaggy who will become an insta-meme survivor. No chance with a chapter.

What I was pleased with was how many ideas and different medias that were available. Heck, even Persona made an appearance! Not that I think it would be easy to pull off, but a killer who can use a Persona as a weapon would be quite something!

  • I'd certainly appreciate more well-worded and rational comments like this and also share your thoughts. The game's issues feel much more to do with a select minority of the community than balance or bugs. The ranking system does lean into that. Some just like to mock things different to them!

There are a lot of good folk out there though. I've been lucky to speak with a lot of them after games, helped by not being a sore winner/loser and complimenting them genuinely (pointing out an aspect of the game where their skill showed). Hopefully you'll find some ๐Ÿ™‚

  • No killer alone could beat the Entity, but the fact Silent Hill has its own God, and the town feeds off of the guilt, fears and torment of those within it, it has the best chance.

Pyramid Head can carve up the realm, bringing bits of Silent Hill into the realm. The Entity effectively has to heal itself. Pyramid Head can use these cuts to execute survivors, using the influence and power from Silent Hill. Even the cages are stealing from the Entity. Not to mention Midwich realm if held in place by chains. The Entity is a guilt buffet and whilst the Entity seeps into many worlds, Silent Hill is feeding off of it.

The Entity's main strength is that the cult of Silent Hill is what tries to expand its influence, and not the God itself. It seems mostly passive when not manipulated by man. If it was, however, the Sun Goddess would be a powerful foe of the Entity. Pyramid Head alone would not be enough to kill it.

  • If basing it on what perks come with them, I would say Ace for survivors and The Twins for killers. For me, their perks wouldn't be missed much.

In terms of just not liking characters I would go for Adam, because most Adams I've faced were dicks, and for killer I'd take Ghost Face out, because he's just a Scooby Doo villain with added irritant.

  • Skyrim dlc??????

  • SWF does get a bad rap, which stems from the minority of them who decided Ochido was their God, or have bad parental issues.

Most SWF are decent and even complimentary! Sure, having a damn tricky round versus a good team where you don't ever really get the upper edge throughout may suck, but it also helps you get better and learn how to improve your play. I'm giving SWF the shadow of a doubt, although if those who don't act like entitled basement dwellers grew up, you might have a decent, relatively united community!

  • It is an exciting chapter, especially considering the plethora of killers, survivors and maps (there better be a map!) available!

The reason I didn't go for the highest on this poll is because Silent Hill was the big one for me. However, RE is definitely going to be exciting (remember BHVR, please add a map with this!๐Ÿ™

  • Spirit doesn't wear enough meat to qualify. :D

  • Ripley. She has such an awesome voice and Sigourney Weaver would be a Hell of a name to get onboard.

  • As much as I don't think my life would have been any less enjoyable for not knowing this, hats off for the thought you put into this!

Her vomit for me would just taste of sadness and neverending pain.

  • The Doctor is the epitomy of Smug Bastard. He looks dickish and if I'm to look back on my matches, he's also been played by more dickish people. Only my experience, and there have been fun and decent Doctors, but overall he resonates as the least liked.

The Ghost Face is quite simply Scooby Doo villain made real. He should feel embarrassed by the way he runs after people. Also, he just is an annoying sod to face in terms that some of them teabag at any given opportunity. Again, there are some good ones, but the number of annoying ones stick out.

    In terms of maps:

Rotten Fields and Shelter Woods for the same reason: Very uninspiring, dull and lacks any real character.

  • I'd like Slippery Meat to be rehashed. Change it from hook escape attempts to reducing the time it takes to escape the killer whilst being carried.

  • Sounds interesting. If you mean talking about perks as a core value of their lives pre-Entity then I'd read it!

  • Evan MacMillan would, since he fought back before. If he feels there is a real chance of taking it down, he's bright enough to see the benefits.

Philip Ojomo may do. The Entity is using him like his boss at Autohaven effectively did. His role in both places is remarkably similar, and we know what happened to his boss, once he saw the light.

Sally Smithson may be continually trying to escape the realm via blinks through the different reality layers, and she moves around as if she is being puppeteered. She potentially would rebel, if she's not too broken.

Susie from the Legion could switch sides if she gains confidence and becomes less naive and reliant on the others. Currently, she tows along. However, I reckon Susie would turn with more self-confidence.

Caleb Quinn is someone who was the victim of corruption, theft and being used. The Hellshire Gang hunted outlaws. Yet Quinn was manipulated into aiding the Entity. If he finds out what is happening, his rage would convert him. Maybe change the survivors into a new Hellshire Gang!

Talbot Grimes might, but he may be too hideously demented by the serum to have much humanity left. If he retained any humanity, Talbot could very well swap to continue his research to escape this Hell.

As a wild card, I'd put in Pyramid Head. My belief is he is already feeding off the Entity and perhaps injecting the essence of Silent Hill onto it. However, he would not side with survivors neither. He'd be like Michael Myers, except punishing anything amd everything on guilt, rather than Myers who basically is a child in a sweet shop.

  • Maybe part of explaining how it could have a child would be to understand how this thing came into being. Currently, the Entity feels like the Big Bang; it happened into existence out of apparently nothing and constantly expands. We're not entirely sure what this thing is. It could be something with a devious intelligence. It may even be something that feels like it's intelligent but is actually a bubble universe itself where the laws within seem to replicate intelligence.

It could be interesting to see how it breeds/multiplies/divides, etc..

  • If those who do simply started saying "Why do some survivors/killers do...", instead of "Why do survivors/killers do...", then it can depersonalise it a bit, which in turn leads to a debate, rather than a debacle. It's about dealing in facts and using the correct words.

At the same time, some people vent because they just want to feel heard. Instead of some attacking them, it's best to figure out why they're upset and empathise. People react better when someone empathises, even if they do not agree.

Finally, a minority are just dicks and make these posts just to rile up the masses and pretend they're some sort of puppet master. You'll never change them, but ignoring those has an impact. Nobody likes to be ignored.

To sum up, empathy and language is key. Elitism over something as petty as pixels moving on a screen or how someone presses a different type of button is as pathetic as it sounds.

That's what I'm trying to make. You never know it could happen, I believe a lot of people have amazing imagination they just need to commit to it, and not hold back.

    The magnus archives?

The Magnus Archives is a horror podcast that ran for 5 seasons (200 episodes) that focuses on The Magnus Institute: an organisation investigating the paranormal, which evolves from a new archivist putting statements into order - reading a different case each time. It then evolves into something of an epic cosmic horror and there are so many characters to choose from.

    As examples:

A gym instructor who is obsessed with body perfection to the point where the grotesque is desired.

An individual who replaces others, despite looking nothing like them, yet nobody realises.

A person completely twisted into spirals, living in a maze with one door that can spawn anywhere.

It's all focused on horror and different scares and fears. Definitely recommend it.

Its possible who knows maybe a very exciting new horror franchise grows in popularity in DBDs life span

& that too! New horrors are always being made, so the next 'Silent Hill' or 'Hallowe'en' could be right around the corner!

Personally, though I doubt it'll happen, I'd love a chapter on 'The Magnus Archives' the potential for perks on both sides, as well as the amount of killer opportunities, is bountiful!

Geez man even I couldn't think of that many off the top of my head

In honesty, neither did I! I'm shaky on a couple like "Them", and admittedly a lot of these aren't huge franchises. Yet the possibility of DBD having some more is still pretty fruitful.

  • There are a lot of avenues still to explore, depending on what BHVR would be more invested in. Some are big, whilst others may not be but have huge potential for interesting killers, survivors, perks or directions.

    Films:

Alien; Hellraiser, Friday 13th; Slumberparty Massacre 2; The Shining; Sweeny Todd; Psycho; Carrie; The Ring; Constantine; From Dusk Till Dawn; Get Out; It; Dracula; The Blair Witch Project; Mother!; Sleepy Hollow, etc...

    TV Shows:

The Walking Dead; Channel Zero; American Horror Story; Them; Supernatural; X-Files; The Vampire Diaries; The Stand; The Terror; Creepshow; Hannibal; Dexter; Grimm; The Twilight Zone; Evil; Gotham; Twin Peaks, etc..

    Video Games:

Alan Wake; Fatal Frame; Clocktower; Haunting Ground; The Evil Within; The Cat Lady; The Last of Us; Far Cry; Bioshock; Condemned; Outlast; F.E.A.R.; We Happy Few; Get Even; American McGee's Alice; Medium; Deadly Premonition, etc..

    Other Media:

The Magnus Archives; Alice Isn't Dead; The SCP Foundation; Carmilla; Creepypasta; I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream; 1984; House of Hell; Teacups; NoSleep; The Black Tapes; Gideon Falls; Code Pru; Francis Bacon, etc..

    Urban Legends/Myths:

Scarecrow; Kuchisake-onna; La Llorona; Black Annis; Bloody Mary; Indrid Cold; Spring-Heeled Jack; Yuki Onna; Gargoyles; The Erinyes; Gorgons; The Bogeyman; The Whipping Father; The Baubas; Succubus, etc..

Basically, there are a lot of avenues still to explore above and beyond their own creations.

  • Hardly, no. The main problem is the minority of players who are the majority of the complaints - the bitter, salty players who enjoy other's misery and play to troll others; who send messages telling people to die, etc..

There are problems in this game, but the worst problem is those players. It's a choice those make.

But casual plqyers are just wanting to play for some chill time. The dicks turn them away. The game retains the same knobheads and the circle continues. Those casuals are much more welcome.

  • I have a few:

The Shape: It feels like the most personal of all Mori's. Also, he looks deep into the victim's eyes which is both disturbing and intimate.

The Hag: It's vicious, violent and messy. Most of all, it's extremely primal.

The Oni: I like how it ties in to its lore. Feels like there is meaning and ritual behind it.

The Nurse: Again, it links to the past, but also shows some signs of unusual compassion, which feels both unnerving and sad.

The Executioner: It's creative and very painful. Also shows that the Sun Goddess has more of an impqct on the Entity, which has some hidden head-cannon for me.

  • 'Whispers' is very effective, especially during the endgame if the exit gates are far apart. It's a very underused perk. Granted, there are better. However, it ought to get more credit than it's due, rather than a perk rarely even mentioned. I randomize perks anyway, but it is nice to have when it appears.

Oh playing against the wraith is always my worst nightmare ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚ I hate that guy so much! Like I'm literally fixing a gen and that bell ring, then I turn around and ALWAYS find a tree to face plant and get stuck into ๐Ÿ˜‚ happens every....single...time... !

Scarier still is when the "ghost" add-on is in effect. You hear the bell, look around and nothing, but the moment you turn around to continue gens then WHAM!!!

  • As survivor, I grin and think: "Well, this got interesting!", then that totem becomes a priority for me once unhooked.

As killer, I get a confidence boost, now that the balance of power is firmly in my court until that totem's cleansed.

  • Had the pubs reopened when the Entity did this? I think the Entity may have made up for all the months they were closed.

  • Survivor: Adam. He and I share similar childhood experiences at school and both wish to further learning, as well as value other lives above our own.

Killer: Caleb Quinn. We both like to tinker and understand how things work, or modify to utilise. Granted, his skills vastly exceed my own but a shared interest would mean I'd probably bond more with him.

ngl I had absolutely no idea that moles even made sounds

In fairness, neither did I. I'm glad I know now though :D

  • Silent Hill was my top want. All they need is Alien and I'll be over the moon! I would also like chapters on "Silent Hill 4: The Room", "The Magnus Archives" and "Slumberparty Massacre 2", but fully understand there is no real chance with that.

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ not gonna lie theres has been a couple of occasions I've had the same situation of hatch campers... like I've died then instantly messaged the killer saying to lock the hatch and told them.the location of it obviously knowing through using left behind. And he did, he locked it. I had a similar message saying "get good" ... my reply was " I am good, that's why the hatch is locked " to reply back "what do you mean?" " how do you think the killer knew where the hatch was and locked it so fast" oh the swearing of abuse i got afterwards is far too explicit... gave it a week later "thanks for getting me banned on xbox live" .... "you're welcome you mouth fร—ร—ร— " and blocked him ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ

seriously don't ever stitch me up .... you won't win. ๐Ÿ˜‚

If he was on Xbox then maybe he was the same guy I had ๐Ÿ˜. Those people are frustrating, so it's always fun to see them land on their faces.

  • I never knew I even cared, until now!

In return, here are some mole sounds:

    https://youtu.be/VIGXJbX925U

  • The Entity has difficulty with some killers, such as Huntress and Spirit. Even Trapper tried to fight back (but failed!). Cheryl can even control it a bit to her advantage!

However, with both Myers and Pyramid Head it definitely bit off more than it could chew. Myers is just doing what the heck he wants, and Pyramid Head may even be parasitic; feeding off the emotions within and perhaps this guilt manifestation is a way for Silent Hill's God to infiltrate.

The Entity is powerful, and maybe getting more powerful, but it's still with weaknesses or aspects that could be very troublesome for it as it grows.

  • I've had more salt from teammates than opponents to the side I was playing. Especially one I remember who decided to wait in a locker through both my hook states (we were the last 2) and then got pissy because Trapper found the hatch he wanted, so he missed out. He messaged me "Use your brain". I replied "I did and that's why you didn't get the hatch", then blocked and moved on. Can't think they liked that much.
