It will take some time to get used to it but overall it does look cleaner than before. People are just resistant to any kind of change.
My only concern is whether the character portraits in the top left will conflict/share screen space with the Discord overlay. I know you can move the Discord overlay to the right, but that makes me feel like all icky and stuff. I'd rather the portraits were more mid-left than top-left, eg:

You are definitely right about the resistant to change - also, we've had this HUD for over 4 years, so of course we've got used to it and people usually have a knee jerk, emotional reaction to change. I do think there are some very valid points made and I hope that when the PTB goes live, that people will give the new HUD a chance and test it properly and see where/if there are any major issues.
You make a good point about other overlays working with it.

Personally, I will wait until I can test it out myself.
But, from what it looks like, the gas is not yellow immediatly. Meaning that you can throw it at the Survivor without giving them a benefit and afterwards, when you walk through it, you will get the Movement Speed-Buff.
that's correct!

I have a question about the hook counter.
Can only survivors see the individual hook progress ?
The killer will see the overall hook progress, so not the specific hook count.
-
The forum has strict Naming & Shaming policies, something like this would not be acceptable in the slightest.
If someone is doing something against the rules of the game, then reporting them in-game is fine.
However, "toxic behaviour" is very subjective and as long as it's not against the game rules, does not require reporting.

We all know that we need PH booty back, trapper has enough.
no argument from me about that!

You can use the yellow tonic to trick survivors. For example, if I knew part of the map didn’t have any pallets left, I could throw yellow tonic in that direction mid-chase. The survivor could take the bait thinking they’re just getting further away from me, but in fact they’re heading to an area where I can down them easier.
I think it’s going to lead to some fun plays.
Agreed, I think it's going to add some interesting gameplay to him.
And he gets a buff of speed as well don't forget if he uses the yellow cloud on himself.

The Trapper butt is much appreciated, just like a single drop of water is appreciated by someone who´s about to die of thirst. It barely can be considered a buff, more like an adjustment of rng. Now only like 12 more changes like that and Trapper can call himself bottom of mid tier.
Trapper Butt? He has enough, we don't need that buffed.
*sorry, I'll go back to collating now*
-
@OniWantsYourMacaroni they're a shared resource so on reload you can throw any combination of the 4 of either type
-
It doesn't just increase the speed of the suvivors, it increases the speed of any player affected by that gas - so for one it's a great way of crossing the map as the Clown, it can also be used skillfully in chases, it can be used to try to bait a survivor to go where you want them to go for example.
-
Can you be more specific in your comments please. It's really hard to take feedback on board when it's just "this is awful" without any explanation of why it doesn't work.
-
Against Plague, it's a trade off and a lot depends on how far along the match is and also the map as well as how good the killer is. If she immediately goes to her fountain at the start of the match and uses it (I have seen some plagues doing this), then no I won't cleanse because she's already used her strongest item and I won't feed that.
It really does vary match per match and is very player dependent on whether or not I cleanse, if the survivor team is good, then a lot of the time you can get away without cleansing at least until the end of the match...but if the killer is very good and knows when to use her power, then yeah I'll cleanse.
-
Currently cross progression is between Steam & Stadia with Switch joining shortly.
There is no guarantee if there'll be cross progression for any other platform in the future, we know it's a wish and we will still keep working on it but no guarantees I'm afraid.
-
no problem, glad you found it!
-
The use for the EGC is what it was intended for - allow the match to end, and in that respect it works very well. It's not supposed to help one side, which is why killers are able to open the door etc.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
Disagreed. The strength does not have anything to do with how Survivors like a Killer.
Old Legion was heavily disliked despite being one of the weakest Killers of the game.
Clown is also not really a favorite, despite considered the weakest Killer.
OLD Nurse was more liked than Spirit, despite clearly being stronger.
Strong Killers like Billy, Blight or Oni dont really cause any Hate, but Killers like Deathslinger, Spirit or Hag do, due to the fact how they are played and either provide next to no counterplay (Spirit, Deathslinger) or make an overall unfun experience (Hag).
^ from my experience, exactly this.
The killers that survivors tend to complain about the most are the ones where counterplay is very limited.

I am someone who has tried for years to find a good reason to play against SWF. I average rank 2-3 as killer main and I can even hold that as Shape, doesn't mean it's good or engaging or, though subjective, even fun.
There's no counter to most of what SWF brings to the table as options for advantageous cheating. It's why I quit the game for like 10 months at a time, because each time SWF has only gotten worse and devs have let it fester more. There's a reason killers wait 5s to matchmake and survivors wait 5 minutes.
My survivor matches take seconds and my killer lobbies are much slower - time taken to find a match is due to rank/region/time of day. Nothing to do with player levels. During the day for me, super fast survivor lobbies but long killer ones, and that reverses during the night.

I don't believe they should be healed from cleansing. just cleansed of sickness. No where did I ever read or hear about a damn insta heal from her fountains. I cleansed when I had deep wounds and it only took the mend away and I was still injured so do that same thing just take sickness.
I wouldn't be against that tbh it would help to give her more pressure, not sure how the balance of the match would work with her power then though - but it would be interesting to see.
-
The whole point of EGC is to end the game, it's not about applying pressure. If the gates are that much of a problem the killer is able to open them themselves and force start EGC, so I don't think anything needs to be done about 99'ing the exit gates.
-
That was a very random thought, but honestly it's one of the best titles to a thread that I've seen!

The biggest problem to me is getting exhausted on the ground with Dead Hard. There should be some kind of rollback system for when the game realises you have used Dead Hard and are exhausted and got hit. This isn't a small bug either, as whether your Dead Hard actually works properly or not can determine a game. Right now using Dead Hard skillfully (i.e. on reaction) is punished heavily when skillful use of an ability should be rewarded. Even players with good ping end up getting exhausted from the ground, there are countless annals of video evidence.
Dead Hard has nothing to do with Hit Validation - there's more issues with DH than just that and this will be addressed at a later date.
-
No the DC penalty is very much active.
-
Remember these are concept arts so it's likely to look a bit different in game...but I really love the look on Asylum.
-
ohhhh this is actually a tough question...as much as I would love to be a god tier Nurse main (never going to happen sadly) I think I'd rather be decent with all killers, purely for variety as I'd probably get sick of playing the same character constantly.
-
Do you have any other pages on your character? Because the screenshot is showing one page only...and normally Prestige shows prior to those items (at least it does on mine).
-
It was given a QoL change in patch 3.7.0 - which means it now lights up as soon as it receives one token.
-
Wraith as killer, Nea or Kate as survivor but I also play a bit of Yui & Zarina
-
Also, I don't think there's any correlation between queue times and killer lock being in place - queue times are pretty dependant on your location and the time of day you play. For example in the region I play in, during the day my survivor queues are near instant, a few seconds at most but my killer lobbies are much slower - during the night my killer lobbies are super quick and my survivor lobbies are slower.
-
Quite a few of them also stream - Jeff & Mclean as well as Not_Queen & Peanits comes to mind.
https://www.twitch.tv/woahitsjeff https://www.twitch.tv/almo2001 https://www.twitch.tv/not_queen https://www.twitch.tv/peanits_bhvr
-
The simple reason for this is that to change the "killer lock" will require a full patch, then another full patch when MMR is reimplemented into the game, the decision was made that due to cut down on the amount of patches required that the lock would stay in place.
IMO this is the wisest use of resources, the extra time with programming etc can be better spent on doing other things.

What is the point of that black circle when the killer hooks a survivor? it feels like all it does is block the survivors vision of the killer, so unnecessary.
That's effectively the point of it, so you don't get so much information.
-
I am a massive fan of Devour Hope I think the perk is incredibly well balanced! It not only requires the killer to be doing well in the match, it also promotes healthy gameplay from both sides.
Survivors can completely nullify the perk by doing the totems and the killer is only using 3 perks effectively until the point where Devour Hope activates - when 3 unhooks, when the killer is out of range, have happened. I actually can't think of a fairer perk than this.
Should survivors have to be hooked twice before being Devoured? No I don't believe so, because the killer is using a risky hex perk to get to this point and if the survivors are unable to find the totem after they've been notified that the killer has Devour then that's really on them.
When playing survivor I love matches when Devour Hope is in play, they're always a lot of fun and I've actually never seen any other survivor complain either at the end of the match. As a killer, my totem is usually destroyed at 3 totems, so it rarely pays off for me.

I just moved your thread to the correct section of the forum @chargernick85

From my understanding The Oni's Ice Cold outfit, Hillbilly's Pyromania outfit & Wraith's Wax Warlock outfit are all 75% off as well as Zarinas Guerilla Filmmaker outfit, Yui's Snow Motorcross outfit and David Kings Riot Guuy outfit - that's a little more than 1 outfit that's 75% off.

Our Customer Service team is extremely busy and we do appreciate your patience in waiting for your issue to be resolved. Please though, don't make extra tickets to ask about the issue once all information is supplied as this will delay the process further.

I don't think the base mechanic of Freddy can compare with the base mechanic of Nurse tbh. She literally breaks the game.
He's strong in game right now, with the right perks/addons/mechanics but imo a top tier Nurse would beat a top tier Freddy.
-
I enjoy playing Myers, there's a few fun builds that you can run on him. He's never going to be Nurses strength but I have no issue with the current level of his power. The only thing I'd like back really, is the ability to stalk multiple survivors again (got removed shortly after his release), it would help to be able to tier up quickly again.
-
ngl that made me giggle!
-
Without a fraction of a doubt, the best killer in the game is free - The Nurse. I honestly don't think there could ever be another killer added that could compete with her strength either...so the game could never be classed as pay to win.
-
Thank you so much for the video @Hallows_Eve that's so much help, I've passed the information on to be checked.

Any other steps that we should do? I found 2 hackers in a match and only one had steam id that was changed little after the match was over. Should we post the video evidence in the forums?
No the video evidence should not go in the forums, that would be naming and shaming here. The video evidence needs to be sent to Support which then gets tied up with your in-game report - that's why ID's and the in-game report section is so important, we do actually need to see the match took place because obviously, these days in particular, it's not that difficult to edit things. The Steam 64ID doesn't change, which is why we ask for that, names on Steam can be changed so easily unfortunately. Supports address is here: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360000942011 . The best way to send the video evidence is to upload to YouTube and put the link on the form.
@Slashstreetboy I appreciate your frustration. We do stamp down on cheats and there's regular updates to the EAC software that blocks cheats but it's a vicious circle, we update to catch previous cheats, then there's new workarounds and new cheats appear - it's most definitely an ongoing process.
-
The list posted above is an Official List but please pay attention to the games EULA which does take preference over anything.
-
There is a decay rate to the timeouts, but I would definitely advise trying to sort out your internet issues to avoid further timeouts.
-
Without a video recording of cheating there's no proof, so without proof there's not much that can be done I'm afraid.
-
I think once you've played for any length of time and got the achievement, you naturally stop caring about your rank. I got the achievement way back in 2016 and haven't really thought about rank since. I don't even know what rank I am right now - I care about BP, for me a game was a win/loss if I got good BP out of it or not....that goes for whether I am playing survivor or killer.
I definitely think it's a mindset and many people care a bit too much (purely my opinion) on whether they escape the trial as a survivor or kill 4 survivors as a killer without actually taking the time to enjoy the game. I still enjoy playing after all this time, but I am the type that will die to save a team mate and when playing killer will get myself back into a chase as quickly as possible - because I enjoy the chases, even if I do badly in a chase, I enjoy it because that's the fun element for me.
TLDR cos I went off at a tangent - find what you find enjoyable in the game and focus on that instead of whether or not you pip.
-
This was a mechanic that was tried and tested some time ago - it didn't work then and it probably wouldn't work now, due to the fact that sometimes a killer needs to stay near a hook, if a gen is close to completion for example or if another survivor is in the area.
And no, a safety pip shouldn't be given - pips should be earned, not given away.
Camping/tunnelling are all mechanics in this game, it's a thing that does need to be got used to. Survivors have perks that can help counteract both of those mechanics as well, it's down to them if they want to use them. But the best way to punish a camping killer is just to do the generators and get out, you might still get the opportunity to make a save (if you have Borrowed Time) but focusing on the generators in those circumstances is the wisest decision to make.
Yes I appreciate it's not so fun because the fun thing in DbD is the chases imo, but players have a right to play their own way (providing it's in the game rules) and the killer is already getting punished by losing the match, not pipping (will probably get a black pip), and getting hardly any points.
-
I really don't mind playing as or against Legion. Yes it can be a bit of a mend simulator at times, but mending doesn't take long and I don't heal because that's pretty much a waste of time, so it's quick mend and back to generators or saves etc.
I also enjoy playing as Legion, I do quite enjoy zooming around the map, smacking a survivor then rushing off to smack another.
-
I'm going to lock this, whilst I appreciate the attempt at humour - there are a lot of people who like playing that character so effectively calling them trash for doing so isn't really acceptable.
-
There's many reasons why people DC, for example as a killer you hit someone down quite quickly, they DC...or when playing survivor you cleanse a hex totem early in the match and the killer DC's - the common factor there is the DC itself and the fact that's the match ruined for the 4 other players.
Yes bugs happen that are gamebreaking, you get stuck on the map and can't do anything for example so you're forced to DC but that's only a 5 minute penalty, those situations are rare right now so there should never be any need to go over the 5 minute dc penalty.
-
I agree with the trapping around hooks, it was changed so the Trapper couldn't do it and I think it would be fine if The Hag couldn't do it either and more consistent.
I don't like the idea of walking not setting off her traps, I don't really see the point of that change - you can avoid the traps by crouching or by using a flashlight on them, you can also flashlight them during chase.
