Don't do that, they have likely nothing but bad things to say and it will only depress you.

The answer is no and everybody agrees on that
Case closed -
@Nos37As Survivor, I can choose not to work on a gen and I'm avoiding any detrimental effects that failing a skill check would have. (I can simply pass skill checks and I'm avoiding any detrimental effects as well.) The gens don't get done as fast, giving the Killer more precious time to find and sacrifice Survivors. Interaction-tapping does the same thing: gives the Killer more precious time...
The devs can fix this by increasing the time between the moment the button is pressed to the moment the progress is made, so that interaction-tapping would be more penalizing in the long-run. -
Thank you, at least you use your brain. I actually love this idea and would be cool to see that included. I don't agree with you many times but you always put thoughts behind these ideas, I respect that
Even just making a new animation to introduce this would e nice but knowing how they love creating new animations..

avoiding the issues???????Incarnate said:@Malakir said:
Also, you're approaching this from a wrong angle - because thats usually what you would do, but that doesn't mean it's actually not an issue. The point of the matter is, that it takes less than a second to remove an effect that first of all is an effect over time, but also an effect that takes longer to apply than it does remove it - a simple tap is all, the survivor doesn't even have to keep tapping, the survivor can tap and continue to run.That's very true but now ask yourself a question. Would it be a problem if the maps were balanced and genrushing wasn't an issue? Would it be a problem if the survivor had to do something else in order to escape? even something minimal, nothing huge.
If the answer of any of this question is no then you got your answer
You're really avoiding the issue, how many times do I have to say it's not just tapping gens - this is at the core, almost any skill check be avoided by tapping, which will avoid most detrimental effect imposed either by addons or perks, in other words negate them.
Also, using all of these non-relevant examples isn't really constructive to this discussion nor to your argument.
@Nos37 said:
Here's a breakdown:- A Good skill check with Ruin is 5% regression, or 4 charges = 4 seconds of Survivior repair lost
- Survivors can tap a gen twice per second, at best, and that tap only adds 0.25 charges = 1 charge every 2 seconds
- This means that the Survivor would have to get a Good skill check every four seconds to lose as much progress as they would by gen-tapping!
I can tell you that I don't get skill checks that often as Survivor. Gen-tapping is in the Killer's favor.
Still, the main point here is that they're completely ignoring any detrimental effect other than it takes longer.
Also, there are things that will make skill checks happen more regularly, plus it's not just Hex: Ruin, it's litterally anything that would impose a more difficult skill check, that they're avoiding - which means that they avoiding potentially failing the check - which would direcly alert the killer (unless technician triggers), but otherwise it would alert the killer where the survivor would have to consider continueing or leaving the gen. So it's most certainly not just about it taking a longer, but by tapping you're avoiding a lot potential consequences which is directly for benefit of the killer - where tapping to avoid those basically means it's not just the addons or perks involved but a lot of game mechanics that are being bypassed this way.Like I said, it's not just gen-tapping thats an issue, but the very fact that you can just tap to avoid skill checks, which have possible detrimental effects and game mechanical consequences linked to them... how is that not an issue?
I posted 4 answers different from each others trying my best to make you think and use your brain! I made example over examples facts over facts and you just keep saying the same thing "no its an exploit because its an exploit" YOU ARE THE ######### ONE WHOS AVOIDING THE ISSUE, YOURSELF
For chtulu's sake, its really difficult find someone this stupid and even when I agree with part of what you say but obviously disagreeing to the dumbest one you say I avoid the issue? I don't really know how to tell you, even @Nos37 did a pretty good job so far™ explaining his point of view and the maths about it and you still talking about exploit
Dude you won't share, you won't challenge your ideas you wanna have a ECHOCHAMBER and you know you actually did it, you pissed me off. I rarely get pissed off but you found my weakness, talk with a person that thinks like a rock. And we all know what rocks can and cannot do (hopefully) -
Try to not jumps on sides or try to "feel" that gonna proc since its height based, maybe the second time you missed it for few inches
Try to always go on the highest place available, about the truck, its just a semi-bug don't rely on it. I use hills in this way and I have no problems. Before figure it out even for me hills were a gamble but aiming on the highest place of it to jump makes the perk pretty consistent in flat maps -
@Incarnate
If you look at it's description, it's quite clear thats how it's intended - obviously how well it works depends on the skill of the players. But that still doesn't change the fact that the players are directly negating it's effect
Consider it's combined with other effects that make it more difficult to pass the skill checks, then it's more efficient at what it's intended to do - which can directly be negated by tapping.
At first looping wasn't considered as intended, exist
Combos in fighting games were a bug, wasn't intended. Now its the core of fighting games
Keep enemies airborne like on DMC was a physics bug. Now its a feature of these games
Rocket jumping, was a bug but now a feature in many games
Deny Creeps in dota, was a bug but became a feature and a deep one
Always in dota, the orbwalking or "kite" was a bug, its the core of many mobas
I can keep going but you got it
Also, you're approaching this from a wrong angle - because thats usually what you would do, but that doesn't mean it's actually not an issue. The point of the matter is, that it takes less than a second to remove an effect that first of all is an effect over time, but also an effect that takes longer to apply than it does remove it - a simple tap is all, the survivor doesn't even have to keep tapping, the survivor can tap and continue to run.

@Incarnate its intended that if they tap they stop the regression so what? If you know was being tapped someone is close if was during a chase down the guy then kick again
Say that hex ruin is for preventinf too finish the general its hilarious. I'm not the best survivor ever but I still work through it efficiently I actually get more great skillchecks with it than when there isn't. With ruin your slow the gens for extra 10s and I can assure you isn't by gen tapping, it would take way longer
Since you are making really silly statements can I ask you what rank are you? I've been rank 1 in both sides for awhile now and been in this forum as well and never saw somebody cry so much about something I would call tactic
Gen was kicked?

@Incarnate you lost any credibility to me after your gen tapping= exploit thread
Back to the topic, its fine-ish and devs are going in the right way. I can lose the killer or catch the survivors decently butghey should make more mindgames spots and fix some maps like the jungle gyms in the swamp for example
That's it, more mind games less Benny hills, its so satisfying win a mindgame in both sides, improve that -
Its not, if you wanna know why read the answers above.Incarnate said:@fcc2014 said:
It takes longer to Gen tap than actually work through it. Who cares if 4 survivors gen tap their way through the whole match the problem isn't gen tapping the problem is you! You need to apply map pressure. Stop using excuses as to why you "fail".Hang on there, there is a difference between tapping your way through until it's done and just tapping once to remove the regressing mechanic, including any effect put on - like overcharge. It takes time for the killer to make the gen regress - ie. to apply the overcharge effect, time which the killer could be using to apply map pressure.
So no the problem isn't me - if you can't see that there is a problem, then you have a problem.
Also, being able to just keep single tapping to avoid an intended game mechanic, is by definition an exploit, which devs really should realize but apparently don't.
Then by your logic juggle survivors that delete a entire perk purpose is an exploit. Just stop -
Dude they get no advantage by doing that, you are the one who doesn't know what an exploit is. Get in a place of the map where the killer can't hit you is an exploit, bugging the killer in a pallet is an exploit, do gens 95% slower for the lulz isn't an exploit. Tell me what advantages gives except make it slow af?Incarnate said:@Malakir said:
@Incarnate gen tapping isn't an exploit and any survivor won't do that unless its for fun. It would take AGES to complete even 15% of a gen. There is ruin? Just work through it, its faster, gentapping would take the same time of 5 gensYour definition of exploit is kinda over the top, then dr juggle the survivirs is an exploit, body block to hit the chainsaw is an exploit and from there we can go through 'every aura perk is an exploit' since would be a snowball effect started by a dumb statement
Gentapping actually is - do you know the definition of an exploit in video games? There are slight variations of the definition: "an exploit is the use of a bug or glitches, game system, rates, hit boxes, speed or level design etc. by a player to their advantage in a manner not intended by the game's designers." This wasn't intended by design, and quite clearly the player is gaining an advantage that wasn't intended, and that devs haven't done anything about it just says something about them, because this quite clearly is very imbalanced.
Also, did you not notice the example with overcharge? Where they don't keep sitting and tapping it through until done, but simply tap once to remove the regressing + overcharge effect and then run off, they don't even care if they're going to face a skill check that they will auto fail - they don't lose time doing that.
Does make gens go faster even with ruin? No
Ignore overcharge? No
Make the gens be quiter for a big? No
Let them progress even when grabbed by the killer? No
I can go on being even more creative and it would always turn to be a no unless the question is : for a laugh?
You should know what an exploit is don't manipulate words to fit your narrative, it doesn't give any advantage and nobody uses that especially that often that a thread is been needed. I just saw done it once when the general was at 95% and took 30+s to finish it looking those 2 vibrating on a general (for the action button spam) so no, its not an exploit.
I don't even know why you are so upset about it, like I said if you think its an exploit then almost anything its an exploit starting to dribbling surveys and ending with the very core mechanics. Please before write a statement like that do me a favor, think -
Hills: you must jump from the highest spot or it won't proc, especially in the sides, try to jump looking towards the "entrance" of the hill, that's the spot you wanna jump from
Truck: its kinda meh, probably too short as a jump, I don't take that for balance landing for this reason, I won't even change it since its a pretty decent spot to mind game on both sides
Look for places higher at least the double of a normal vault height or use lithe. I prefer BL since reduce the stun even if exhausted but you do you -
@Incarnate gen tapping isn't an exploit and any survivor won't do that unless its for fun. It would take AGES to complete even 15% of a gen. There is ruin? Just work through it, its faster, gentapping would take the same time of 5 gens

Still, its called hold the game hostage not try hard which is the same thing of playing to win using anything at your disposalAgain no. Play to win means you play to end the game. Play to not lose means you play to not end the game. In one case you are demonstrating good sportsmanship. In the other, you are being spiteful. Taking the game hostage is an example of playing to not lose, but it's not the absolute case of it.
And yes, you should use anything at your disposal TO WIN. But the problem is players don't use everything at their disposal to WIN, they use it to NOT LOSE.
For example, I'm the last survivor and my only option is to take the hatch. Killer is sitting on it. If I'm playing to win I will try to lure the killer away so I can hatch (eg. doing a gen, baiting a chase, etc.). If I'm playing to not lose, I will just hide indefinitely until the killer leaves the hatch. The first case I'm actively seeking a resolution to the game, one where I win yes, but also one where I might lose. In the second case I'm actively avoiding the loss simply to deny my opponent victory. Both cases I'm using "anything at my disposal" but only in the first am I actually trying to end the game
Try to not lose means try your best to win, again you are using the wrong word.
", I will just hide indefinitely until the killer leaves the hatch" means hold the game hostage
**Dictionary could actually help:
a person held by one party in a conflict as a pledge pending the fulfillment of an agreement
Instead being a person its the gameAnother example:
jim was fighting with (name) and was being held hostage until her/his demands were met! (Urban Dictionary Example)You are actually referring to holding the game hostage in your example, prolonging the game more than it should be abusing a broken game mechanic.
Now Tryhard:
-urban dictionary
"In online video games, it is that guy who is giving it 110% all the time because winning and/or having a high kill/death ratio is more important than just having fun. Try hards are most common in games like Halo or Call of Duty and are frequently seen yelling at their teammates for dying a lot."Wikitionary
Noun
tryhard (plural tryhards)(derogatory) A person usually of little talent who tries hard to succeed, especially through imitation, usually to gain fame or popularity.
OxfordLivingDictionary
A person who tries very hard; (in later use usually) a person regarded as trying too hard to achieve something, especially popularity or acceptance.**

Do you play betafield or call of beauty? Where you ask the other team to not use grenades, rockets, tanks, etc. Since that would be tryharding.
You obviously are confusing playing to win with try harding. Playing to win is just that, you play your best to win but you accept defeat if/when it happens. Try harding is when you play to not lose, to the point that you just kind of delay the inevitable to avoid the blow to your ego. There is a difference. The former type of player will say GG regardless of the outcome. The latter type of player will rage quit and complain about the game when things don't go their way.
I was also a game tournament organizer for many years across many games. I've seen some absolute SWEATY TRY HARD players, but in that context it's acceptable because money is on the line. Playing online though there is no such physical reward, yet some people treat the game like there is. Like the one guy that did a hatch standoff for 4 hours. Really what is the point of that? It's just stupid. Absolute waste of time and unnecessary.
Your explanation of try hard and play at best its the same, i hope you realize that
No they aren't. When you play to win you don't draw out a losing game unnecessarily to avoid seeing an L. It's the reason most sports and competitive video games have rules against stalling or doing certain things that just delay the end of game. Basketball has a shot clock so that players can't play to not lose, they can only play to win. Otherwise you would end up with games where the losing team will just stall the game for as long as possible just to deny the other team a win.
Playing to win means you are playing to end the game. Playing to not lose means you are playing to not let the game end.

then, perhaps, it would be easier to obtain results and satisfactions. It's a general speech, I'm not accusing anyone, but it's not constructive to debase those who offered us the opportunity to have fun with this game of ruthless hunting and desperate survival. Dialogue, hope and perseverance are my polar star.
I read every patch notes and watched as much Dev stream as I could and read the forum. Not much really and even if there are dumb statement here and there I would listen way more vets of my game and actually play it too (unlike them) at least twice a week if lacking of time
When the Devs, the programmer, don't even know what's implemented or not yet, there is a problem. (Watch last dev q&a)
I'm not a veteran but I fell in love with this game so as I always do when I love a game I get informed, read articles and in multiplayer games like this I read patch notes
I just spent more buying dlcs to support them because this game have potential, I don't critique something for hate but for love cuz I want to see it shine.
As sad if I was one of the devs, even as a merry designer, I would bring these problems and listen to the community that plays and know what the problems are more deeply than I do.
The only thing I have to do is discart silly ideas and listen constructive opinions, the problems is as far as I read and searched into, they never did. Now its getting better and I love it they are going in the right direction but some problems that exist since day on shouldn't be in the game but here we are!
I praised them when they do good things but also critique them for being lazy sometimes (often).
How to fix many problems in a couple of months? Delete RNG from maps, make it static with a good level design to give both sides a way to outplay and feel good about it. Promote good plays and punish bad ones
Little example, when survivors could stunt or blind the killer at any time during the animation, that wasn't a big, was intended the problems were that feature came when the game was so unbalanced and unrewarding that they had to change it. Same thing when they said to killers to gitgud when infinities were a thing or play civ
The game has improved and I wish to seen it before a great game. As survivor to have more stealth perks (Ty for iron will) and as killer don't have such pressure about time.
The most satisfying experiences? When as survivor I can mind game a killer and get out, not loop a pallet for days. When I can outplay him in that way, it feels good -
And who you are exactly? Is DbD an Esport and you are a pro player of it? Imight have missed that. Never heard of you in any competitive game. Dull totems and hex totems = boldness and bpWhateverIGuess said:Let me just waste a lot of precious time when someone's getting chased to get rid of potential NOED, which might ultimately be the reason why we didn't win because I looked for totems that were very well hidden or already destroyed, instead of using this time to actually do my objective that not only helps me win the game, but also gives me progress towards emblems unlike dull totems.
weSmart
Guess what, I get free bp and better score just by doing everything. Most of the time I don't even have to look for it, they are just on hills or near a gen
You'reNot -
Not only about premades. You just assumed that but even 4 solo good loopers players would wreck wraith and you can't base your thoughts on a KYF game that by its own nature is a friendly match, people won't even try but just get a laugh.Devil_Patres said:@SadonicShadow but how many times you find good premade? 1 match on 30.. come on, The wrait is op, i played versus 4 people of my team(all with 1000+ hrs) and i kill all. totally easy, i was the wrait
In ranked (or classic mode) people would actually try and if you believe wraith is open as well as any m1 killer at high rank based on 10hr gameplay..
Instead would be a nice chance of paste try to get rank1 on both sides and try to stay there -
No
nice bait tho

I like the idea but what this guy says is true. Sadly the balancing team isn't the brightest and just see the programmer don't know anything about the game in a Q&A stream made me cringe out of existenceMaster said:@Entità said:
@Crizpen I respectfully disagree. Humans are basically habitual creatures: they build their certainties on a reality consolidated over time and tend to be wary of any change in that reality, as if it were the only possible or reasonable, rather than simply being the one to which they are accustomed. If the game had started directly with six perks each, nobody would have been astonished, but indeed it was born with four and then this appears to be the only appropriate number. It is not necessarily so. Many new dynamics have been introduced, from the Obsession to the secondary objectives of the Pig's victims, through the excellent stealth of Myers at Evil Within 1, to the Spirit's phasing and so on: each addition involves new tactical challenges, a radical rethinking defensive strategies, an unthinkable variability at the time of Trapper, Wraith, Hillbilly. No less important are the new challenges imposed on the killers by the new survivor perks. The game has always earned it.Now, imagining that all the perks have been unlocked by developing all the characters or buying them from the Shrine of Secrets and making a quick calculation, having FOUR PERK SLOTS means, at present (ie without considering the upcoming two new chapters and related perks), and without considering perk tiers:
1) 56 * 55 * 54 * 53 = 8,814,960 perk combinations for survivors;
2) 51 * 50 * 49 * 48 = 5,997,600 perk combinations for killers (a drastically lower variability: I propose the introduction of another 5 killer perks, regardless of whether developers accept my system or not).Under the same conditions, having SIX PERK SLOTS means:
1) 56 * 55 * 54 * 53 * 52 * 51 = 23,377,273,920 perk combinations for survivors;
2) 51 * 50 * 49 * 48 * 47 * 46 = 12,966,811,200 perk combinations for killers;
ie:
1) a game variability 2,652 times greater than now for survivors;
2) a game variability 2,162 times greater than now for killers.Of course, it's a big news, and will require balancing. But the gain in terms of gameplay richness, tactical depth, longevity (the game itself is very repetitive: these are combinations that make it virtually inexhaustible), the novelty of the challenge, it will be immense.
Some possible balances:
1) to increase the number of totems or the cleansing time (since many of the most powerful killer perks are curses);
2) to add secondary objectives, which will drain the survivors' time (we talked about it in many threads, including: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/27565/secondary-objective-shrines-to-the -entity );
3) to review the effects of some perks (or add-ons of the killers), to the extent deemed appropriate during the tests;
4) to lengthen the repair time of the generators or introduce a sixth generator to fix;
5) to touch up the structure of some maps, to make the six perks system more enjoyable.In my opinion, the problem is not real, but mental, in the sense that some perceive this change as impossible, as an impracticable distortion, and look discouraged, resigned, to an incredible opportunity for both parties. I do not say it's easy, but it's definitely a great leap forward, a way to make this game even more immortal and palatable for new players (and for me, that I have a weakness for tactical challenges).
I pray @Malakir @se05239 @Acromio @TerminalEntropy @MhhBurgers @G4rr3tt @Whisky_Glass @Scourge @Master @Justicar @Peasant and all other users to read carefully this post, and to think about it.
Of course, @not_Queen and @Patricia are always welcome!

Nobody claims that adding perk slots would not give more variety to build etc, but the balancing is the problem.
Regarding your suggestions:
1) Would be necessary anyway since the killer would be able to use more than 4 hex perks
The other points are just very vague.
Basically you are requesting the whole game to be adapted just to support the idea of 6-perk builds.
I simply dont see the necessity for such insane changes just to add more perk builds to the game, because lets face it. With the current perk balancing we will simply established a new meta build that will hardly change.
What they need to adress are the actual issues of the game and adapting the hex mechanic aswell as looking at secondary objectives (adding gentime is rather dull) instead of some mind gymnastics to enable 6 perk slots
I would like that but if they can't even balance a 4 perk system I won't imagine I taking in consideration more synergies. Right now they should start focusing about the core game, like the maps, to make them run for both sides, then make useless perks at least usable then we might talk about this
You putted a lot of thought on this and I actually like it but sadly there are bigger problems and introducing something like this basing my theory but historical facts, would just make it worse for everybody for long time. Like when, for example, they said to gitgud to killers when infinities were a thing
Maybe in 4 years or with a real balancing team, this might happen -
Tbh I'm learning nurse RN at rank 2 on console with basically PS4 and the only fps drop I have I when I play the hag. Your issue is based on certain maps or in general? I'm curious since I don't have that problem
-
Basically this^KingSavageGaming said:The smartest thing the devs can do is bring the other killers up to his level stop crying for nerfs because you don't perform well against a certain killer look where it got freddy when bum àss noobs were crying about him now he's shxt
if you juke a billy you get a lot of distance same as nurse in both cases you have to adapt to their play style
Even if I suck at loosing I feel bad seeing so many whiffs by just running around a pile of garbage with a pallet and be able to do it.
Buff stealth perks BTW (like they did with ironwill, Ty devs) -
"Don't get caught"shanks3042 said:As I don't have too much time to play DbD anymore but I want to get one of those event outfits is there any way as a survivor to not get camped every time and farm a little bit of those plants? The progress is too slow and as killer I have too wait long to find games.
And
"Don't get caught first"
I guess I did a pretty good job so far summarizing the whole thread -
Be farmed. I don't know if they have an IQ equal to a red fish or just seeks points but I really wish to have an emote while hooked showing the middlefinger when they try to unhook me in front of the killer like when you interrupt someone with the emote when they heal you. Same mechanic

Welcome to the internet, a place where anybody can say anything and for this reason people are mostly #########,me included. You might just fell in this hole called internet so I'm gonna give you some tips:OGlilSPOOK20 said:

I have seen you post before. You're just realizing that we're all uniquely and seriously flawed?OGlilSPOOK20 said:Community is so split between survivors and killers and so toxic that there's no fun in this game.
-trolls exist, they like to upset others, ignore them
- every community is toxic for the very nature of human kind, like on school but worse thanks to anonymity
- ignore people or get ready to been mocked insulted and so on if you wanna share anything
Hope you enjoy your staying on the fabulous world of Internet!
If you think to be really brave you can even visit 4chan or some weird site on the deep web, be careful tho, the rules are the same even there but the contents are trollmade or disturbing, go there at your own risk, HAVE FUN!!1OnE!10!1!

Death Gamble:
The fear that surround the entity's realm affect you deeper an deeper in this horrible world. Your legs shackles, your heart beat is going crazy, the only thing you can do is listen your pure instincts. By misfortune you have rabbit's instinct
- While croutching wait for 1.5 seconds, afterwards press the action button to lay down faking a dying state (Reduced to 1.2 level 2 and 1s level 3)
- Killer can pick you up if notice you, cannot see your aura as an actual dying state using deerstalker
- You move at the same speed as the dying state. (Level 1 80% of base speed up to 100% level 3)
- No crying sounds unless you are injured (level 1 Little crying sounds when the killer is near 2meters level 2 barely noticeable sounds level 3 totally silent)
(Press the action button to stand, this action would take 2.5s, can be grabbed or attacked while been in the animation) -
At first sometimes I did, y'know just to be friendly. After the 50th hate mail they will be slugged for days. If I can slugs them all even better, if in my mori list.. Welp, I hope you don't got stuck in a corner

Dude don't. Guess why I stopped answering this guy after reading 50 posts of him. Dont fall for the bait, would drag you down at his level of feels vs real and beat you by experienceWolf74 said:@The_Crusader said:
Yeah double standards dont work. Remember that in future.
I do.. all the time. Try to catch me red handed. Won't happen. So don't lean out to far, buddy.
I'm not even a survivor main. I play both a lot. I agree with most points killers have about OP perks and gen times but as soon as you try to bring balance by saying not everything is not peachy on the survivor side you get salt for it like it's some kind of blasphemy.
What are you even talking about, either you agree that the balanced is in favor of the survivor or not. So what's your point?
You won't find a link. Even trying your hardest he'll just Gish Gallop to the victory -
This. Except i would keep a rare amount of them for newer players at least 85% should be mindgame basedBlueberry said:I think even the bigger issue is that almost all of the pallets in that map are safe pallets. The majority of them you are forced to break. Very few of them are actual mind game pallets. I don't get why any safe pallets exist period. All pallets should be mind game able so that each one is a battle of skill between the players.
