S Tier? She can’t hear footsteps and Iron Will is very common, so basically every game she’s facing invisible survivors while phasing. Scratch marks aren’t reliable enough to use her power vs an Iron Will user.

Players shouldn’t be required to have the hearing ability of a dolphin to play her at a normal level.

Which doesn't really effect her strongest, tournament-level gameplay style, short-burst-Spirit.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not happy about the bug, but it's not that big a deal. Quick bursts and 50/50ing loops has always been her strong point. The bug just nerfs her already-self-nerfing long-burst playstyle.

Yeah now is a good time to try to get them cause it’ll be harder with more dlcs in the future.

We should be able to agree that the survivor meta doesn't completely change the game in the survivor favor.

    What?

  • In current DbD? Congrats. I don't think I have a single one, there's just too many survivors

  • The problem with SWF is that parts of the game are balanced around it existing (blindness, Knockout, Spirit, etc) and others aren't (Hex totems, perk co-ordination, Trapper, matchmaking in general, etc).

  • What you do is you very slowly die, continue to get BM'd without repercussions, and continue to get ignored by the devs and harassed by blinkered killer mains that like to pretend this never happens despite any and all evidence to the contrary, while getting championed by blinkered survivor mains that insist this is every trial.

Meanwhile all other killer mains, survivor mains and non-mains actually try to brainstorm reasonable solutions that the Devs could impliment in a futile attempt to make the game that much more enjoyable by mitigating one potential type of malicious behaviour.

Just keep posting these things. Hopefully, if the Devs get overwhelmed, they might actually do something. Then again, console optimization...

  • Her bugs (mostly the terrible hit registration) need fixed. Other than that she's fine.

Cleansing a lit totem after the gens pop isn't an enormous task. 4 survivors cleansing totems as they traverse the map on their way to gens isn't an enormous task.

This isn't whataboutisim. This is a specific topic about forcing players to play around things that their opponents may or may not have. Why does this community hate it for one side but think it is fine for the other? It's rather hypocritical.

Pretending that anyone is complaining about cleansing already lit totems that are in their face isn't going to help you, nor is pretending that there's a magical, limitless amount of time and co-ordination at the tail end of a trial in which to hunt down a hidden totem.

Why is it wrong for survivors to have to play around something the killer may or may not have, but it is okay for killers to have to assume that every survivor has DH, BT, DS, UB,Soul Guard, and whatever else that can grant them a extra health state, when they may or may not have it equipped?

That is a bad comparison. None of those perks offer the option of an enormous task that has to be completed, often with the help of other perks and some random players, in order to potentially deactivate them. A task that people genuinely love to tell people to do despite the fact that it is more impactful that the perk itself.

And Survivors do play around NOED without knowing if it is active or not, just the same as killers play around all the perks you mentioned. That's why healthy survivors avoid taking hits and hide or hang around close to exit gates if they haven't seen anyone get hit by a basic attack since the doors were powered. And it's also not mentioning all of the non-Hex perks that survivors have to play around that I'm not going to mention because I don't like to stall discussions with whattaboutism.

I'll take your 8k forum posts as a sign that you and I both continue to invest a lot of time in Dead by Daylight DESPITE its glaring imperfections.

I may take issue with BHVR's design decisions, but something about the game keeps pulling me back in. So as long as I am playing, I am inclined to indulge myself every once and a while with the world building, cosmetics and characters the game has to offer.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2391176#Comment_2391176

As a consumer, I don't want to waste my money on any product I know I can receive for free.

By including premium cosmetics in the Rift for free, BHVR has made it clear that I can expect any and all cosmetics to eventually be made available free of charge in the future. Therefore, I no longer have a reason to spend money in their store. I don't need things RIGHT NOW. I can wait until they are free.

They have lost me as a customer for this reason, and I think anyone with enough self-control would be wise to save their money as well and just wait until their favorite skin is given to them for free.

The Hillbilly cosmetic is hardly a significant change. It is the same exact skin, with different textures. I didn't buy Beach Boy Billy for the texture on his shirt--I bought it for the beach vibes. The texture might be different, but what I paid money for is being offered for free.

Actually, I barely touch DbD any more. I physically cannot play killer since this last update, but that barely effects me since I hate playing killer. And I'm burnt the ######### out of survivor to, since my teammates are either complete potatoes or, more commonly, attempt to set genspeed records and generally act like douchebags, predropping every pallet so I've got nothing or just straight up sandbagging me because that's also unpunished.

I've just been hanging around the forums coasting on my 2 hours of DbD a week, hoping shite's gonna change before I get sick of this game completely.

Edit: and you know what? I've been in this situation with other games and an apology and some openness from the Devs goes a long way. It's nice to feel like the people you've spent the last few years supporting actually give a crap about the people they've been lying to.

  • I've got an update from midrange PC: The menu's are fan-#########-tastic. I don't have to spend 10 minutes waiting for the menu assets to load. Survivor is way better as well, there's still some serious lag spikes but although they're worse than ever they're also few and far between. I get maybe one a trial, sometimes two.

Killer, though, is completely motherfucking moronically unplayable. Now my motion gets set to 0 with every little freeze and everything that survivors do makes me freeze. A survivor clicking a ######### flashlight makes me stop dead in my tracks, it doesn't register any input during the lag spikes any more. Killer was borderline unplayable before, but now it's physically not letting me play.

Edit: I kind of want to edit my game files to lock myself out of killer in case I forget what a horrible experience I had last night, but I'll get banned for hacking the game because EAC is such a fantastic anti-cheat.

  • @Unicorn said:

    I-

… why does any of this make Survivors toxic?

Nothing is toxic about DBD but the end game salt, otherwise people are just playing efficiently to win.

Please stop using that word loosely.

It is really annoying how much people dilute toxicity. If they're not doing something with the express purpose of pissing you off, it cannot be toxic. That's just not how games work.

Especially looping windows, I dunno what that's about. There's only 3-4 god windows left. Maybe 5. And it's better if survivors use them all the time because then they get nerfed.

  • @thisisntmax said:

Survivor queues are instant and have been for months, but pop off queen. You fight for killer rights.

They really haven't been. You must live in a very special area, because now that the event is over I'm back to 20+ minute wait times.

Disagree completely. The kind of scene found in the video was a common occurrence amongst many of my local friends and online friends, too. The kind of issue killers are dealing with now is superficial; the mechanics are fair but the visuals don't match.

The visuals will likely be updated soon to match the current mechanics.

You can disagree all you want, I regularly play survivor with 90+ ping and that never happened to me.

And it really isn't superficial. Right now, you hit people and they very clearly get hit, they were in range and everthing was perfect and suddenly they don't get hit. It's like everyone is Plague at pallets, they very clearly should be taking damage but don't. I suspect that if I choke my survivor connection I can camp every pallet I want and never take damage. Whatever system they implimented isn't working the way it should.

  • If you deliberately sandbag a teammate, I will hardcore tunnel, camp and BM you. Otherwise I just don't care and won't chase a clearly competent survivor in a strong area.

  • @PalletsAndHooks said:

    https://youtu.be/0M7ammUgGlI

The new pallet system is here to stay. It's alot less unfair than the old system. See above video on previous system and tell me if this looks fair at all @tippy2k2

I think that that is an extreme that rarely comes up, as opposed to what killers are now having to deal with.

Edit: And it's something that could have been fixed without creating the current situation.

  • The meta shifted. Survivors do gens faster and artificially extend chases with no skill by holding W. This has the side effect of nerfing snowballing, which is how killers used to be able to win.

  • Both. Perks shouldn't win trials for you (second chances), they shouldn't be absolutely necessary (slowdown, info) and they shouldn't break existing mechanics in the hope they get used poorly (exhaustion).

Perks should be on the level of Enduring, BBQ, Inner Strength, Resurgance, etc. Good, strong perks that help out but don't hand you everything. And the game is slowly moving in that direction, DS got nerfed to be a anti-tunnel/mega-toxic-helper perk only that no longer has severe gameplay abuse. The new perks getting released are firmly in the "solid choice" camp. It's nice.

Let's just hope they rework slowdown, exhaustion and info perks/mechanics.

  • I'm glad they didn't, they're mostly used to buff god windows or create RNG-based death holes.

  • @Elena said:

I never really had an issue with the map since it came out on the PTB.

Not disagreeing with the fact it's huge though, it IS huge, but in my experience the map hasn't been that much of a problem.

It's probably because most people don't know what's going on or how to traverse the map, similarly to Midwich when it was first released. I expect the coming months to have hardcore survivor mains praising the map and hardcore killer mains eating DC penalties just to avoid it.

  • Buffed. Less knives needed can only ever be a buff.

  • I think they exist for the same reason as Cowshed, RCPD, The Game, Haddonfield, Badham, etc.

The Devs love the randomness of the maps. They absolutely adore that maps hand victories out like candy instead of people having to earn them. It's really frustrating that they can't be bothered to tell the game to stop shitting on people for being put in a bad situation.

  • This is what made you lose faith? Not the YEARS of broken promises, the sharp decline in any form of communication, the three broken chapters in a row, the worshipping of statistics, the ignoring of the playerbase, or the ever-increasing problems of map gameplay design?

  • The killer is your pfp, now stop bitching that your nerd fantasy isn't 1000000% accurate.

  • The Whattabout is strong with this one.

  • It's been that way for years. It's one of the biggest reasons the sound nerf was such an enormous, game-changing nerf. I don't know if it's more prevalent now, and to be blunt it doesn't ######### matter. The fact that it's already been this way made scratchmarks worthless as in-chase tracking.

  • Trickster is fine. You simply require practice.

  • They could do it, but so many of the properties people want have killers that are too powerful and would feel super lame. The Xenomorph is a huge one, one of those things could tear through all of the survivors in seconds without any way for the survivors to stop it since they don't have giant guns. That's literally it's character design and why it's so scary.

  • Indoor maps make the game boring. Killers can't tell what's going on and have no real tracking, which both makes playing them unbearable and messing with them far too easy.

  • There's no option for "mixed".

Survivor is significantly better, as are the menu's. Next to not stutter, although I have had some insane lag spikes here and there.

Killer, though, is completely unplayable for me. Now my character completely stops whenever even the slightest lag spike hits, and everything the survivors do gives me lag spikes. Click a flashlight and stop me dead in my tracks, how bloody fun.

  • Unfortunately not. It's only reportable if they repeatedly pick you up and down you again to drag it out even longer.

It does suck. But if that’s the case you should be lobbying the devs for more/better servers, not lamenting the fact that killers are no longer rewarded with hits for having high ping when they play around pallets.

    @Firellius said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2389024#Comment_2389024

Thing is, you aren't robbed. You didn't actually get that hit in anyway, since the survivor dropped a pallet on your head before you were able to get the hit in.

Latency just doesn't give you a free shot anymore.

It's funny how it's perfectly acceptable to be stunned from several metres away.

There's no reward, nothing to make the game easier. We're not talking 200 ping here, we're talking 50-60. We're talking the kind of hits that would look perfectly legitimate on both sides if it was a livestreamed tournament that suddenly can't land because the server registered the stun before the hit by a microsecond.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Seems like Killers really got used to be carried by Dedicated Servers and their shenanigans. I did not get many Pallet Hits in the first place when playing Killer, glad that I dont get the short end of the stick with both roles now, just because I have very good Ping.

And it sucks for everyone else who doesn't live next to the servers who have been getting stunned from metres away from pallets for years and who now don't have the upside of occasionally actually hitting survivors who were late to drop pallets.

  • @NMCKE said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/268935/getting-robbed-of-my-pallet-hits

This is pretty much the survivor's equivalent of getting through windows, yet you're still getting from what seems like thin air.

Welcome to the latency club, survivors been here for quite a while, but we'll make room for the killers and we'll share our horror stories around the campfire!

The difference being that it's significantly more impactful for a killer to be robbed like this than a survivor.

  • My performance on PC has been doing a lot better. The menu's run smoothly and there's less stutter overall. I haven't been on any of the danger maps, but tbh individual maps never impacted my PC performance. It was just overall painful and stuttery, especially when a killer with partical effects was in play.

Edit: I also haven't frozen in place for 10 seconds at any point, so that's a huge plus.

I’m not sure why but when I play on the map, it just doesn’t feel big to me. I know the map so well which is part of the reason.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2388608#Comment_2388608

    Same.

It's not a matter of how it feels, it's a matter of how long it takes to traverse. Mother's Dwelling feels bigger to me, but I've seen the traversal times.

  • @Junylar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2388586#Comment_2388586

Survivor sided? Have you ever tried to find a gen there? Or a totem? People hit second hook stage there because teammates can't find a way to the hook, that's how survivor sided it is.

That is a problem with people not knowing the map. Which hasn't been a problem in my trials because people don't scurry and sneak about in AU, they just run around and sit on gens.

  • Okay. That doesn't change the fact that it is, due to it's effect size alone, the most survivor-sided map in the game by an enormous margin.

And that's just because of the size and all the limitations that comes with. That's without looking at the fact that it's an indoor map, it's hook spawns are atrocious, and every resource is either god-tier or not worth mentioning.

That map is ######### huge. All survivors have to to is spread out an you cannot do a thing to stop the gens (and by that I primarily mean snowballing) even if they don't run away. There's just too much distance to cover. I've played that map 4-5 times so far and only 2 people have died. One was me getting tombstone pieced by a Myers just as the gates were getting powered, the other was a Claudette that got facecamped in the endgame collapse.

I view that map as the unholy love child of Old Rotten Fields, Haddonfield, and The Game. Sure, it looks pretty, but it's just got so many crazy issues because of it's base design.

  • No, it's considerably worse where I'm from.

Gay was never an actual slur and it was more of a light insult that hasn't been used wide spread outside of a few spots on the internet in years. Qu**r is used and always has been used as a slur for decades and is still incredibly offensive to a LOT of LGBT people. Myself and many friends included.

I gues we're from very different places then, because I still see people screaming "gay" at people before they throw a punch.

Edit: not to mention all the internet rants about "the gays".

qu**r is not an umbrella term. A great deal of us take great offense to it. I’m ok it someone chosen to identify themselves by the slur but you don’t have the right or authority to put it on others.

So what would you propose as an all-encompassing term that is recognised as such that absolutely no-one at all could ever be insulted by despite literally every single letter in the full LGBT+ banner being used to hurt people?

  • I've been wanting gens to be turned into fetch-quest machines instead of m1 machines for ages now. It would make the game so much more fun and make stealth properly interactive.

  • 1-track gameplay. No interactions, options or anything resembling a competition between two players.

I'm clearly in the minority here but I honestly hate that word. I've heard it used as a slur more often then not that I just want to erase it from my memory. I don't like hearing it, even when it isn't used as a slur, because it just reminds me of when it is. And yes unfortunately, it still is used that way these days.

Nearly every single word that has ever been used to describe members of the LGBT+ community has been used as a slur.

Sort of. Except unlike Old Legion, survivors can prolong the chase.

It's more unhealthy in the sense of Deathslinger or PH, imo. You've got one thing and one thing only that you can do to prolong the chase, although with Trickster it's running around a wall and not running away in a straight line.
