I’m still having a hard time understanding why people think RPD is worse than Haddonfield.

Haddonfield takes some basic amount of skill, which is incidentally why it hasn't been changed (precious, precious stats). RCPD is a default win a la The Game where survivors accidentally bulldoze the killer just by holding W.

  • @Seraphor said:

The fact that "it doesn't fit with the rest of the maps" is entirely a good thing. We need more variety.

Just as with any of the indoor maps, it's going to take time to learn the layout and find your way around. I used to get so lost in Lerys and Hawkins, but now they're two of my favourite maps to play on.

It's still going to have it's issues like any map. Haddonfield has the god house loop, The Game has it's god pallets, Coldwind blinds you, etc. RPD is a big map, there's no getting around that, but that fact doesn't favour either survivor or any particular killer all that much.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2385573#Comment_2385573

Meanwhile loading into Coldwind or Shelter Woods as Doctor is hell for me. Different maps suit different killers.

It heavily favours survivors due to it's size alone. Give it four months and everyone will have the basic layout down and there will be absolutely nothing stopping those gens. It is without a doubt the most survivor-sided map this game has ever released. Even old Rotten Fields won't be able to compete with it.

Variety is good. Non-interaction is not, and that map is just non-interaction in map form. No mindgames, no plays, nothing. This game got it's longevity from the interactive gameplay, something that maps like RCPD and The Game absolutely destroy. It's little wonder they're so hated even by the side they favour.

  • The only map in the game that's universally hated by all non-RE fans.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/268428/why-does-fast-track-work-so-strangely

This is way too strong OP. 9% free gen progress for 3 hooks? If the killer doesn't tunnel and hooks each survivor once and every survivor is running this perk that's 9 * 4 = 36% free gen progress. Add in the natural 1% for hitting a great and you have almost half of a gen. This would literally become the best perk in the game and encourage tunneling massively. If the killer hooks each survivor a second time in a row then 36* 2 = 72% progress on a gen. That is ridiculous for a single perk. Throw in a bnp on everyone and if the killer doesn't tunnel people out as fast as possible you basically throw away 2 gens for free. I can't even imagine how obnoxious this would be in a swf with 4 bnps, all running this perk, and 2-3 gens left.

It's identical in function to the current iteration of the perk. Instead of gaining 1/2/3 tokens that each give 1%, it's 1 token that gives 1/2/3%.

Edit: And your maths makes no sense.

  • It looks like it's a holdover for an earlier iteration of the perk, perhaps it was originally only supposed to consume a single token each Great skillcheck until they realised there's not that many opportunities.

  • Zarina and Adiris.

  • It's a map designed for the antithesis of what has given DbD longevity.

  • No, because I realised that the buff is actually going to make your average Trickster easier to go against, since they won't have learned his true playstyle.

  • Exhaustion and info perks need to be added to the base game rather than be perks. Info perks because they're genuinely necessary to facilitate some form of co-ordination, and Exhaustion perks because they're completely unecessary and unbalanced and this is the best alternative to deleting them - rebalance the game around everyone having basekit SB or something.

Also, the game is balanced but in the worst possible way: Completely uninteractivly.

  • I'd prefer bethesda-style mod support so that console players can have access to the same thing. It also makes it easier to regulate, given the developers would have total control over the library.

  • Oh, that's actually not an opinion. I was not only taught that, but saw it in action. Think of it as capitalism weaponised for good.

  • Same thing. People take ques from all forms of media. Educational mediums are actually the least impactful in terms of changing societies opinions, because someone watching sometning educational is prepared to reactionarily combat any alien ideas. They're mostly useful for sharing information amongs intelligent people and/or artists for those artists to incorporate into their works.

    Jaws is a shark, not a person…

You should really look into who clown is based off, and decide if it’s a good idea to humanise the DBD version of him.

Yes. Because real life is full of complexities that people have to learn to accept. Otherwise, it makes it harder for people to accept that the nice person that used to give them free papers and a friendly chat at the local dairy was actually a horrific human being, because they're taught that horrific human beings don't do nice things.

  • Nope. I find either character interesting or compelling. There's whiny rich kids and boring serial killers aplenty in the media.

  • I'm just looking forward to all the NA and EU players being forced into an approximate version of the hell that is AU (and from what I've been told, SA) red ranks. (I should probably actually check out SA servers. I did my homework on the other 3.)

It's going to be so fun! Sure, maybe I'm just a heartless ######### that wants to see people suffer, but... Yeah, no, that just about covers it. Heartless, mean, sadistic.

  • In my experience playing with both M&K and controller, the only killers you are limited by are the ones with ranged components. Deathslinger, Huntress, Nurse, Plague, Twins, Trickster, and to an extent Demogorgon. And to be perfectly honest, Deathslinger, Huntress, Demo and Nurse still have the same functionality, they're just a lot harder. Which makes me rather amused that all the best Deathslinger's I've faced have been on console.

If I can recall at first oni was pretty unplayable on console

I don't think that had as much to do with controllers as it did with him being mega nerfed post-ptb. They limited his flick to about 30° or something like that, then buffed it to 90° later on.

  • @Junylar said:

Unfortunately, that's part of the game now. Even though it's formally "bannable", not a single soul has ever been banned for sandbagging or cooperating with the killer, and the in-game report system is a placebo. You can fix bodyblocking by removing collision, but how do you fix survivors leading the killer to you in the end-game so that they can have the hatch, for example? Trolling has become an inseparable part of the game now, and you can't do anything with it.

Actually, you've got that backwards: people get visibly banned for griefing but not so much for hacking, probably because these days they just blank their steam name.

  • Record it, report it. That's all you can do, and it is reportable because that is griefing.

  • It sounds more like your connection is the problem and you're only just noticing it, leading to a state of frustration-induced confirmation bias. I've always had to deal with this because my ping is normally around 60 and gets to be around 70-80 if I forget to use my VPN service (a lot of us actually use them to cut down on latency).

  • An Exhaustion perk, probably Sprint Burst or Lithe. BT, because that's always a good choice. Inner Strength is good. Inner Strength/Totem Perk is better, just don't get caught in the trap of thinking it we'll help against NOED. Could also use Self Care/Botany Knowledge or even Self Care/Resurgance.

  • My main problem is just how jank hit detection and survivor movement are. Curve around a wall? Nah, you actually wanted to collide with thin air. Backrev someone? Guess what, they unlocked the ability to teleport.

  • I've talked about his a bit before, but here's a more detailed version: When the Bloodlust experiment took place, I ended up being sent to Haddonfield against a SWF team. And all they wanted to do was show off how unbelievably broken that bloody map can get without Bloodlust, they actually stopped doing gens and gathered around and watched as I'd chase one of them around the map. When they got hit, they'd go get healed and we'd go to another part and try again.

We ran a couple of different buildings, House of Pain got immediately boring because it had the full god setup but it's just short enough that you can retain chase to block the windows. The two-story houses were just crazy, they indicated routes they wanted me to take to try and be more efficient and it was just not ever working, there were only two houses I retained chase long enough to block the windows. *

And I have never seen an endgame chat more filled with disgusted survivors, it was a brief chat but basically it boiled down to everyone saying "######### that map and everything it stands for". It was the most civilised impromptu test I've ever been a part of.

*Edit: One of them was House of Pain that I already mentioned

  • Being slightly better than others at camping doesn't exactly change the fact that Huntress, Hag and Deathslinger very much so exist and are very much so ranged campers.

That's literally the Huntress play, they stay in sight of the hook every time.

  • It's as close to worthless as a perk can get whilst also encouraging the shittiest, most scummy playstyle in the game.

  • Victor has never ignored Dead Hard, people just use it wrong. He moves slow enough that a poorly timed and aimed Dead Hard isn't long enough for him to pass through, but going to the side or timing it better is still a free escape.

  • What? No, not for me. The trials take a lot longer, sure, but by that I mean 10-15 minutes.

Rotten Fields is, like, a great ancient evil inferior to only one: Fractured CowHell.

I already disliked this map before, and the rework only made it worse for me. Honestly, I would be happy to never see it again.

Actually, I would be happy to never see Coldwind Farm again.

At least it's not as big as old Rotten Fields. That map had the highest number of escapes by default.

The map is one giant dead zone outside the very corners, you can handle it

The map is a series of chained strong tiles ringing a deadzone. You actually play it by forcing the survivors into the corners.

This isn't quite true, there's some kind of lock-on in DbD. You can see here that when Nea starts to ascend to Heaven, you can see Spirit freak out and start jerking/snapping upwards.

    https://gfycat.com/exemplaryblissfulcrocodile

That's not aim assist, that's the hit cone that both PC and Console have because it's a basic function of the game. Survivors hitboxes are shaped like pills, killers hitboxes are shape dlike larger pills, so of course the Devs used an extremely simplified mechanic for hits: when killers "swing" their weapon, it functions like a hitscan and impacts with the closest thing in the attack cone. For reasons unknown, this also causes your camera to recentre itself on the object you are swinging at. Apparently it has something to do with making it look better, I'm not entirely sure why.

It's actually been demonstrated by plenty of killers on PC, especially back before the game absolutely crapped itself and people were more worried about the fact that they were doing 180's into walls instead of hitting the people in front of them than they were about most of the playerbase not being able to play, with only current-gen consoles and high-end PC's running properly.

  • If I remember right, they were supposed to add "husks" years ago to prevent it. Instead they added DC penalties. Then they disabled DC penalties because of their biggest broken promise and now a smaller broken promise has come back as well.

Thanks for the little bit of clarification! Nice to hear a little more about how they handle reports like this.

I play on his PC occasionally when I'm over at his house and there definitely isn't anything going on with hacking hahaha!

I commented on the killer's profile asking about it and we had a short conversation- he still insisted there was hacking but unfortunately stopped replying when I asked him if what happened was similar to a video I sent him where Otz hit a survivor and had the hit taken back due to latency on his side. I replied to another commenter in more detail about it, but the killer played weirdly enough for a rank 2 that it totally would make sense that he was just having major internet issues.

Some people just set themselves an answer to their problems and refuse to listen to evidence or logic. I've seen some sneaky hackers around and I am definitely paranoid about them (one I only caught because of Tinkerer - instant gen hacks and some convenient vanishings that I was previously attributing to me just being crap), but a little logic is so easy to apply to these situations and so rarely actually used. Nearly every bit of wierd behaviour I've seen is easily attributed to latency and poor code, or just me being dumb and miscalculating something.

  • You must play in a very nice region at a very nice time, then. I spent most of a year having solo que times taking upwards of half an hour at peak times, and that's with crossplay on. Everyone I've talked to or seen complaining about no-crossplay que times has said that it severely increased the wait times because of the significantly smaller playerbase that bullies out casual players.

I only place portals when i got the chance for and its totally worth it for the value you can get out of it. I mostly 4kd so far with Demo on Rank 1

So have I and I don't use portals. In fact, I think he's one of the strongest and most uncounterable killers in the game, above even PH because PH takes too long. The ability to instantly shred at any time thanks to constant, unpunished spamming is crazy, I dont know why that's even a thing.

Changing your tv settings is very different to filters that edit the game and not what is just on screen. So please dont say they're the same. I also said I let all that go and dont care about people editing there settings for a slight visual advantage.

However I'm not going to lie that most of these issues are joined to pc players, sure not all but that doesnt matter when they are common.

If given the choice I'd avoid such players, even if there are good players within that group.

Have you ever used PC filters? They allow you to change colour depth, contrast and gamma. My TV screen does the exact same thing and even has preset profiles I can set it to, which is funny because it cost me $70 about 8 years ago and is bloody tiny.

It really is the same. And like it or not, you're just scapegoating PC and blaming everything on magical advantages that don't really exist.

And the best part is, and this really makes me laugh, hacker's can bypass any locking measures the Devs put in place because they just don't give a crap. Which means that it's not a PC problem.

Edit: preset profiles I can save and set it to.

  • I often completely forget that his portals exist (they're borderline useless most of the time) and constantly use his Shred. I've been using Lethal Pursuer/Corrupt Intervention/BBQ (yay BP)/Enduring.

  • You do realise that you can just change the colour on your screen to mak scratchmarks easier to see? Or that M&K don't really change anything because this isn't Siege? Or that you can change the gamma on your screen? Or that by "screen" I also mean TV because that's what I use as a monitor? Or that console players have objectively worse latency due to WiFi usage over Ethernet cables, or overlong ethernet cables that give the connection stability but nevertheless limit the bandwidth?

Or that hacker's can just play in your trials anyway and won't be stopped by something as simple as refusing to play with PC players?

In fact, it's entirely possible that console players can "stretch" their resolution by changing the resolution of their screen, it certainly works for me on PC but I don't have gamepass any more so I can't check on my Xbox.

  • All you can do is report it. BHVR ought to understand that racism isn't just what mainstream America thinks it is.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2381210#Comment_2381210

Okay going through killer emblems 1 by 1

Gatekeeper: # points = # of gens * # of min + 10 points for exit gates remaining closes at end of trial. ie 7 min game where 3 min 5 gens remain 2 min 4 gens remain and 2 min 3 gens remain gives the killer 29 points plus and addition 10 if the exit gates didnt open totalling 39 points. Min needed for Irri 35.

Devout- 2 points per kill/disconnect by any means except bleed out 1 point for hooking all survivors at least once and 1 for hooking 9 times so Survivors can actively prevent you from getting the point for 9 times by leaving someone on the hook stopping them from being able to get a 2nd or 3rd hook. I will give you that.

Malicious- 1 point for each hit +2 for each hook stage -1 for each state healed -1 for survivor escape from grasp

Chase- based on hitting survivors and having short chases. and if I am not mistaken a chase begins when you either a) are running after a survivor or b) hit the survivor since you get max points for 0-15 seconds. If the survivors never end up unhooking or healing anyone this one can be limiting to it looks like bronze maybe silver. It looks a bit unclear to me.

So yes survivors never unhooking someone can limit the killer possibilites from 16/16 to 12-13/16 but that basically requires 3 afk survivors. A killer however can drop it from surivivor 64/64 to 25-30/64 depending on if the killer brought hex totems. With the exception of Nemesis who would give survivors a way to injure themselves and thus heal themselves.

    As for Bloodpoints.

Brutality- can be limited by because number of times available to hit before you down them

Deviousness- So killers get this just for survivor bleeding plus their abilities plus a bonus for noone escaping. Each killer is different. In addition every killer can utilize their power without the survivors doing anything.

Hunter- there is a limit to how much you can get but you will get points for survivor found. because you do want chases to last a little longer. but you can still get at least 1/2 the blood points with all afks

Sacrafice - is limited if the survivors dont unhook people. but again can still get over 1/2 with full afks.

So I stand by my point that its way too reliant of the killer being effective. The survivors actions might make it so the killer isnt able to get full points but it requires alot of lack of effort of ALL survivors.

Killer going against bad survivors -

Gatekeeper will be maxed, just as Unbroken will be for survivors (never getting downed means max emblem).

Malicious = 8 points for the hits, not sure how it counts specific hook States becuase a trial full of 1-hook kills gets you silver. That emblem is a bit broken.

Chaser - basically nothing here. Hits don't start chases, so a single afk person is worth a grand total of nothing. Combine that with the fact that you're supposed go have about 10 short chases instead of 3-4 average ones (W, remember?) and you're absolutely screwed. If everyone is afk you can actually get 0 chaser.

Devout - 9 points, assuming everyone dies. 6 points if someone gets hatch.

And an average of about 10k BP. This I know from experience, because I got aught in the rank reset bug twice in a row.

Might wanna wait a couple weeks after event. Game will be at half population again unless they fix EVERYthing that is wrong with the game, which is a lot. Population will always jump during a new DLC or event.

And as for the PC versus console debate, it's definitely takes more "skill" to play console because they don't have all the game enhancing perks that PCs have. And as for cross play, many of the top games have dropped PC from cross play all together, which is how it should always be. PC players have too many advantages, and it's too easy to cheat, which will never be stoppable.

In other games, PC actually does have an advantage: M&K. That doesn't really exist in DbD, I play on PC with a controller because it's actually easier unless you're playing Huntress or some such killer.

Also, PC also has a big disadvantage a lot of the time: no aim assist. Which is also something that doesn't exist in DbD.

Aldo, cheaters can just play in console matches. That's totally a thing that they were doing back in the day and I doubt it's even possible to patch out.

The difference is the survivors control the killers points in playing the game well. where the killer controls the survivors in playing poorly. If survivors dont do a single gen the killer gets irri gatekeepers. if the killer doesnt injure the survivors the survivors get nothing with benevolence. as for devious using their power gets them devious. Freddy for instance could just make more blood pools. Hunter gives points for chasing or hitting survivors. They actually get more points the shorter the chase is so an afk survivor is worth the max amount of points.

You need to study the emblem system and DbD gameplay a little more.

Firstly, AFK survivors can't start chases, meaning they're worth no points. Secondly, you're not skilled or playing well by holding W. Thirdly, a small handful of killers being able to, over the course of 20 minutes, solo-farm devious points doesn't mean killers in general can get much devious from uninteractive survivors. Fourth, have you ever gone against baby survivors? You get no points. The game's over in minutes, only without anything actually happening.

Edit: also, we're not talking about farming, so that devious comment I made is irrelevant.

  • Solo que's problems are exemplified by Knockout and Third Seal. Rare perks, sure... But they're a free win against a full solo team because of just how little information they have.

That's how weak solo que is. It gets absolutely wrecked by two of the supposedly-weakest perks in the game. Except they are actually quite rare to see, because there are very few full solo teams. Which is why solo hasn't been buffed.

  • @lauraa said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2381143#Comment_2381143

bond tells you where a survivor is. knockout only works upon entering the dying state.

And if you're close enough for Bond, you're close enough for IF.

And what if someone isn't using Bond? What if they're using Kindred? What then? Let me guess, a little retroactive counterplay? That's normally what people advise, like that solves anything.

  • Survivors control the killers points as well. If a team just slams gens and holds W, the killer gets no points even if they win. Their gatekeeper emblem is completely out of their control, as are the other three because they rely on survivors actually doing things instead of just being meta slaves. Good luck getting much devious or hunter in that situation. Even sacrifice depends on the survivors doing poorly to farm.

It's a dumb system, but it cuts both ways.

  • @Snowbawlzzz said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2381150#Comment_2381150

You're telling me that you went on 4 chases, 2 hits per chase, and downed all 4 before a single survivor was found? You know how unrealistic of a scenario that is?

If this was a thing, knockout would be a LOT more popular than it is. Fact of the matter is that it takes too long for an M1 to get enough downs to win this way. If it worked on all hits and you said you were playing Oni, I'd believe you. But it takes a true potato to lose to a Trapper this way.

The moment one person goes down, you win. The survivors see that you injure someone else and try to find the slug, but they can't because they don't know where the slug is.

They're not in a SWF. They have no possible way of co-ordinating. If they somehow manage to find the first slug, the second one is down and you're on your way back. Slug goes back down, you probably got some free hits, now it's just a game of whackamole. Knockout makes it take forever for them to pop up, they're permanently injured, no-one is doing gens because that's the power of slugging everyone. Someone usually bleeds out in this sick and twisted carnival game, but don't mistake the duration for difficulty.

Edit: And stop spamming me. I'm not making any more replies if this is how you behave.
