Have you been playing a different killer? Trickster has an insane amount of counterplay and you will not go down at all unless he commits to chasing you as a 110 killer. He might be the least oppressive killer in the entire game.
He is nothing like Old Legion. There is no comparison to be made there. Run a tile tight and he can do nothing. Old Legion downed you no matter what within a set timeframe - Trickster downs you if you screw up and run into the open, same as any other ranged killer. Only he does it worse.

DBD acts as an FPS when it takes an aspect of FPS gameplay, like recoil from using an auto fire weapon.
When I say that if you play FPS games regularly, then this is nothing-- I'm coming from that angle. I'm not saying that DBD is an FPS.
C'mon man, did I really need to say that?
You're still completely missing the point - you have to be insanely precise with your ranged attacks in DbD. As in consistently hitting a bullseye. This is a game designed around precision in all aspects, where a 5% movement speed difference is a game-changer. It is a game where if you're amazingly good you can just tag someone as they're going around a corner.
With that in mind, recoil makes zero sense. This is DbD, not an FPS wher eyiu and whatever your opponent is will be actively attempting to shoot each other. This is a game where a slight amount of artificial innaccuracy and recoil turns a high-skill killer into a steaming mess that cannot play a single high-wall tile.
-
Enough with the "do bones" argument please, unless you're in a full party it's actively detrimental to your team and a really, really dumb idea even if the killer actually does have NOED. Why? Because who needs NOED if the game is artificially extended by people wasting time searching what has already been searched, in areas that have already been cleansed.
Doing dull totems is stronger for the killer than NOED, and that's even assuming the killer has NOED and isn't busy wiping the floor with your team with whatever 4th perk they actually brought. The problem with NOED isn't that it's OP, it's that it's unfair. Someone dies because the killer equipped a perk. 2 people die if they used NOED as facecamp insurance. Fun, fair gameplay.

Ironically had to just so I could adept him.
But tbf, that required literally all of the planets to align with a decent map, decent add-on set-up which worked in my favor, and a team that wasn't entirely composed of Red Rank 1 players that only came back to destroy anyone who dared to play a new Killer.
Otherwise it was fine. Only took... 7 hours... and it ruined my chance of day 1 P3ing him... But realistically if I didn't have to waste so much time trying to get that done, I could've easily done it with time to spare thanks to my challenge preservation and various other methods of saving BPs.
Honestly, I know what you mean. I feel like I'm shooting myself in the foot by trying to use his power. At this point I think I've gotten more health states with basic attacks.
But, if I hadn't been trying so hard to use his knives, I wouldn't have conditioned the survivors to play in such a way that a 110 killer can loop them. Which is pretty much how all of my trials have turned out: try and play Trickster like a killer with a power, then forget the whole thing and snowball massively as a 4.4 killer when the survivors are feeling unbeatably cocky.
-
All the DS nerf has shown is this:
1) Tunneling is an issue.
2) It wasn't even close to being the reason DS was popular.
-
No-one is trying to play Trickster as an m1 killer.
-
His ######### secondary power makes my ears hurt when it's "ready" and makes me quesy when it's active.
-
You're a chapter too late. Trickster's power changes little with a controller.
-
His advantage is probably supposed to be his ability to juggle players and spread damage. Which he could, in theory, do, if he didn't have such a quick decay rate on laceration and such terrible recoil/innaccuracy.

The recoil on PC is NOT that bad. If you play FPS games on the regular, this is nothing.
DbD is not an FPS. It requires extreme precision to play around maze tiles as any ranged killer.

A perk shouldn't be required to be able to play the game.
Love how, now that DS is worthless, killer mains everywhere are telling you to run it.
I love how people call DS worthless even though the only change it received was removing it's abuse...

He was slaughtering everyone on the PTB so he is definitely strong from what I saw.
Sorry, you're getting Trickster confused with Wraith or Blight. Trickster is the one who throws knives and cannot physically down people at maze tiles or buildings.
-
I think that Exhaustion is an overpowered mechanic and it needs some drawbacks. Right now you're doing nothing but deliberately disadvantaging yourself if you don't run an exhaustion perk, and that's just not okay. There needs to be a reason to not run them that isn't "I already have one equipped."
Plus, DH and SB outclass all the others.

If you dismiss any kinds of arguments because "its useless against SWF" or "it wont work in solo" then you're certainly completely wrong about the whole thing
Third Seal/Knockout builds, for one.
-
You know, this Res post is actually still pretty relevant. There's good info here for just about everyone. I have only one thing to add: DONT EVER PLAY TRAPPER UNLESS YOU'RE MEMEING.
Seriously, Trapper is just about the most frustrating killer in the game right now simply because of the new grass in half the maps. Any other killer you can take kind of seriously and have fun with, but as Trapper you absolutely will get back-to-back trials where you essentially don't have a power. No, worse: you waste your own time trying to use your power.
If you want a chill and stress-free time, maybe play Nurse. At least then you can just tell yourself that one day you will be a god amongst mortals.

Yeah killer if you play pretty bad you make a fool out of yourself infront of 4 (or more if ones a streamer) people i don't try to think about it to much though.
Yeah, like earlier today when a rank 19 Oni pulled the ultimate mindgame on me at shack and stood in the corner where I couldn't see him and I panic vaulted through the window and no-one saw but me and him.
Definitely less awkward than getting looped as Oni for my entire power at a short-wall jungle gym.
Edit: you know, I just realise I've had an Oni-only night as both sides and didn't even realise it.

I'm not saying that "playing solo is easy" or "swf is easy to deal with".
I'm saying that "solo is unbearable, nerf X" or "SWF is OP nerf X" are the same kinds of exaggerated arguments that people use to justify their complaints when they have no valid arguments or if they are given valid argumentation they can't disprove.
Right, so if I point out that solo que was the reason Ruin/Undying was nerfed and SWF is the reason DS and OoO are getting nerfed, I'm apparently just completely wrong about the whole thing?
-
I don't see why the ques will suddenly change. dS isn't the reason people mostly play survivor. It's a mix of playing the easier, less stressful role, playing with their friends, and not getting ganged up on.
-
Yes, because we all know that organised SWF teams don't exist and that solo que always guarantees 4 decent players.
-
I do wish that people would remember that Undying was nerfed and its now perfectly feasable to cleanse 2 totems.
Seriously, cleanse ruin. Look for it. Do the glow bones. It's not unreasonable now that we don't have to cleanse a potential 5 totems while notifying the killer.
Edit: This being directed at fellow solo's.

Pretty sure it isn't.
What you are forgetting is that Survivors each have 3 shots at that 4% chance. The odds of the Survivor getting off on at least 1 of those 3 attempts is 11.5%. If you tried to Kobe every game, you'd get off about once every 10 games. Those aren't good odds mind you, but they aren't terrible either.
I have people unhooking themselves every third or fourth trial, and not while using all 3 potential chances per individual. Mostly it happens while I'm snowballing, which makes perfect sense (that's when you're likely to sacrifice some hook time for a chance to escape), but what doesn't make sense is the alarming regularity and borderline predictability, to the point that I now expect it as much as an unbreakable and am not dissapointed.
Now, I don't think there's some secret code that boosts the chances based on injures or downs or whatever, I'm not that paranoid, but I do think the chance per attempt is higher than 4%.
Edit: And to clarify, I do t se emany luck offerrings, slippery meats, or Deliverences.
-
I Iove how people blatantly twist facts and completely ignore context to try and make their point.
-
It's literally a free second chance. That's all it is. You screw up and rob the killer of their deserved hit. Zero counterplay if used for distance or against a killer who attacks with their power, because you cannot "bait" it. It is just purely unfair and the true postorchild of second chance perks.
-
That would be absolutely awful. I don't want to only be able to use BBQ and Chili or Self Care every other week.
-
It has nothing do do with Xbox unless you have crossplay turned off. It's actually because there's almost no killers - which, coincidentally, is why killer ques are instant. The fix is to have more people playing killer.
-
It's supposed to show that you're a polite and considerate person and a good sport, like lining up after a sports match to shake the other teams hand.
-
When someone gets away with playing poorly and brags about it. Like using Dead Hard or instadropping pallets or getting NOED kills.
-
Yeah, I mean, why get offended when someone flips you off in a sporting match?
It's bad sportsmanship, that's why. It's someone being a jerk. Someone taking time out of their life to be an arsehole. It's honestly sad and pathetic, especially since most t-baggers only t-bag at the exit or after predropping their way to victory. Wow, real mature, real fun. "Better player", totally.
-
Neither is Spirit Fury but you bought that up in relation to surprise pallet stuns.
Edit: Also, don't be rude.
-
@Zeus said:
You can bait out head on.
You can sort of bait out head on.
If the servers are feeling okay and have had their regulatory tummy rubs.
-
So you're mad that an offerring doesn't massively impact the game any more?
-
The thing about Trickster is that he's almost overbearing if not for the fact that it's artificially impossible to maintain chase pressure with him.
What he needs is for his single knife-toss to be 100% accurate (it wasn't in the ptb), and for his Main Event to be actuated whenever the Trickster wants instead of having a decay. Also, decreasing the decay on his laceration, or replacing it with a short heal action.
With these changes, a good trickster would be able to always down even the best survivors, however it would take longer the better the survivor is and the survivor would be able to show off a lot of skill and loop knowledge.
Edit: accidentally posted it half-done.

Because if you think about it, the perk is technically always active. There's always the debuffs on the hooks, irregardless of if there's actually a survivor on them or not.
Unlike Agitation and Iron Grasp, who's effects only switch on when there's a survivor on your shoulder, MS is one that's always active so the perk icon is always lit
It's like Nurse's. The perk icon is always lit because it's always active and searching, regardless of if someone's actually healing
Damn. Now I want Nurses Calling to only light up when it's showing off an aura, OoO-style.
-
Honestly, that's actually been a bit of a problem that Demogorgon ha shad since release. Not much you can do except try and fake things and hope the Demogorgon in question is a bit terrible. Still, it's at least a lot more difficult than PH or Slinger, and a fair bit more situational. For example, around short loops there's not much a demo can do, unless it's one of those junk tiles with a long, flat wall.
-
To be perfectly honest, you're asking a week too soon. As it is, since you're clearly on the fence about it, you should wait until the DbD addicts that probably need an anonymous support group (myself included) have purchased, played and levelled him up, and come to a conclusion after a couple of days of (if the ptb is anything to go by) absolutely chaotic and insane fun.
Or, to put it a other way, the bastards weaker than a watered down drop of wine but a hell of a lot more fun than this metaphor.
-
The Kobe chance is definitely higher than 4%. It's far too common for the survivors to yeet off the hook than a 1-in-25 chance to be the reason.
-
Very, very strong chase power that gets hard countered by predropped pallets and doesn't have enough lethality to cut chases short in deadzones, mixed with zero mobility to chain downs and snowball map pressure.
Pretty average killer.
-
I would like it if Blindness had no effect on survivor aura's and instead just messed with vision an skillet aura's. Right now, it pretty much just exists to 4-person slug solo teams.
-
I don't miss the days when Undying was a free win with no counterplay. When there was little point in cleansing because you were almost always going to waste too much time for it to even matter in the end.
-
"Chill mode" is called purple ranks, and I'd bloody well like to get back there please because all of this hold-W-slam-gens-instadrop-pallets is really just not fun.
Of course, you can't bloody well depip if you actually play killer and get hooks. No, that's not allowed. Just sit at rank 1 and get 1k after 1k. 1's all round.
Edit: well, purple ranks used to be chill. Then they messed up the matchmaking system and now everyone gets the red rank experience.
-
All right. Shame people for liking one or more of four potential things you don't. Well played. I can clearly see we are in the presence of a dazzling intellect.
-
The only problems with bodyblocking are BT/Endurance effect, Sabo Squads and when you're at the endgame and not tunneling.
-
Yeah, I'm waiting for Blight's turning to be locked so people can't abuse the one frame where he has no turn cap. It's so sad to see people that want zero interactivity trying to turn one of the most well-balanced and well-designed killers into Knock-off Nurse.
-
That is just lag. And since the killer's objective is directly tied to hitting people, they take priority.
Hit validation is supposed to mitigate people using VPN's or lag switches, it's not to make sure you only get hit when you get hit on your screen. That would make playing killer functionally impossible.

Because The Trapper is one of the first original characters for the game.
First there was Wraith, Hillbilly, Trapper, Meg, Dwight and Jake.
(I think Bill was added slightly after?)
Anyway, two free DLC's came out; Lullaby for the dark (The Huntress and David) and The Last Breath (The Nurse and Nea.)
There's a buff for Trapper (hopefully) coming with the All-Kill release on the 30th. I hope that it actually buffs him to make him more viable in red ranks.
But yeah, as poster boy for DbD, Trapper had this buff a long time coming.
What buff is this that's coming?

This was never a problem in the PTB. Not one person complained that this perk was too strong..
Give it a crapload of tokens and everyone will.
-
I think it's as viable as ever, assuming you're not going against a proper sweaty team as a basic killer. I'm not saying it's viable to get 12 hooks, but a good snowball in current DbD is perfectly reasonable unless you're going agasint the predrop-and-W variety of survivors.
-
I decided to double check my opinion on Blight and switched up my sensitivity settings to enable myself to flick for a trial. Wound up on Gas Heaven, agasint a pretty chill team. One girl was doing bones, a Nancy and a Jake just wanted to loop me. They couldn't even try in the maze tiles, and only barely managed in Shack (I'm a bit rusty).
Got me pretty good at the centre tiles, though, because I wanted to play them with my power. They never even had to drop a pallet. Til I started 180ing them around the cars and junk tiles, 90°ing them in the shop and one of those dump truck tiles. Fair, balanced gameplay. Let's have a killer who removes their own counterplay with a simple exploit. And whose attack box is wide enough that a Blight with half a brain can't really be juked.
