What if a perk was banned every week?
Would it be a bad idea if the most used Killer and Survivor perk was banned from play for a week every Tuesday when the Shrine reset?
It would encourage new builds. Discourage stale meta builds. And give the Devs a fire under their butt to balance problem perks either by giving them competition by buffing alternatives or nerfing them

You dont need to ban perks to try new builds.
With meta perks as strong as they are, you sort of have to. No one would willingly bring weaker perks
Nobody would support this outright. What this could be though... is a really fun game mode. Potentially random load-outs as an event or X perks were banned while Y perks were still available.
No
Add it in as a Daily. "Escape x games/sacrifice x survivors using the perk x."
I wouldn't like a week where DS is banned so every single killer tunnels survivors to death, or BT is banned where they camp them to death, or Unbreakable is banned where all games end with 4 people on the ground dying on their first hook. You get the point.
It's ONE Survivor Perk and ONE Killer Perk banned per week. I don't think that's crazy
Telling people what they can and can't use is never a good idea.
Promote weaker perks rather than removing the ability of using stronger ones.
It's almost like on those weeks the Devs would get overwhelming feedback that helped them rework, buff or create new perks because it would become obvious that a perk had no alternatives and needed them
Bro...you just do your idea but add a small bp bump to those killers/survivors who use those shrine perks (double the small bonus for using both) and call it a day.
No need to punish people, incentive them.
There are way too many perks , banning 2 perks would not make a difference. Every other week the same 2 perks would be banned. The reason some perks are used more than the rest is because they are strong and the other ones are just mostly bad or not viable. And that's the issue that needs to be addressed
As much as I like the idea of people having off-meta builds..
I paid for the majority of those perks. You can't just take them away like that.
Banning perks that some people paid for and forcing them to use other things isn't a good idea. It would do significantly more damage to dbd than positives.
Player agency.
Don't mess with unless you really have to.
this would basically be a reverse shrine which sucks. i dont want to wake up and select my dwight just to see that i cant use bond. i see why this sounds good, cuz some weeks you wouldnt have to deal with meta perks but i think thats a bit too much. a better way to discourage meta is to buff perks that no one really uses like tenacity, mettle of man, lightweight, technician, babysitter, etc..
I doubt it would change much unless they banned an entire category.
If one exhaustion perk is banned, use another
If a gen regression perk is banned, use another
We have a few meta perks that do the sameish things
It wouldn't encourage new builds, it would force new builds.
Well, it'd either force them to put on something else, make them use 1 Perk less, or make them not want to play the game at all due to that missing Perk.
All 3 results don't sound good to me, and i know i'm not gonna play for a week if Devour Hope is banned, i love that #########.
Showing off new strong Perks, or buffing existing Perks greatly, now that's encouraging.
DS banned = tunnel/camp week.
This is an idea for an alternate playmode, not the core game.
That would be terrible.
Instead i’d like to see a “perk spotlight” mechanic, where any match the selected perk(s) is used earns bonus post game BP.
That would be absolutely awful. I don't want to only be able to use BBQ and Chili or Self Care every other week.
I do, i'm using fixated and vigil in almost every build
I like the idea of doing something to encourage trying new perks/builds, but I think this is a bad way to go about doing it. Rather than restricting which perks could be used, it would be better to reward the use of certain perks, which the Rift does do a little bit. It would be cool to have something a little more involved. Maybe something similar to the shrine of secrets, with the weekly updates. Perhaps every week or so, a few perks are marked as "highlighted" and if you use these perks you gain a BP boost at the end of the match.
Make it a soft ban by offering blood point bonuses for not slotting the banned perks.
The plural is intentional, there should be several perks in rotation every week.
I dont use meta perk and i have strong build, just use your brain and theorycraft.
Never punish people, encourage them.
Don't ban a perk every week but have a day each week where one lesser used perk is buffed.
I like this idea. Those challenges are usually fun
