So if the horrifying cannibalistic skin-mask wearing serial killer was black, would him wearing Meg and Dwight's face be racist but Claudette's face okay? And what about Jake's face?
-
When the pip system gets that heavily ignored and still the Devs don't hear the clang of warning bells...

noobs like to cry about noed becuase of the one shots :(((( noed so op pls nerf
DbD is one of the only games I have ever seen where people with 5k+ hours get called "noobs."

Given that I have yet to come across a Bubba not running Bamboozle, his counter is just to hold W at pallets and windows with no real thought about looping. Just vault and drop. If you've got nothing else, run right around an object, like a junk tile or tree. It's the equivalent of shaking your booty against Deathslinger, but it sometimes works.

I love it.
I can be anywhere in Midwich and almost always see everything I need everywhere.
Sometimes i’ll take out Open Handed and use Buckle Up for even more info.
But the damn headache. I'm more of an in-the-moment gamer. My HuD lighting up that much stuff is (as I found out) my absolute nightmare.

I (now) often run Bond, Open Handed, Visionary, and WoO. It gives me all the information I need to be always helpful, and know a lot about what is happening, and where to actually go.
Visionary in particular is an absolute life saver on Midwich, Lery’s, or Hawkins, because sometimes when it’s down to the last 3 or 4 gens they can be an absolute pain to find.
I had to stop running that build. Too much information on smaller maps. It literally handicaps me, especially WoO and Bond. Big respect for sticking with it.
-
It's a great perk for experienced players, too. Maps are RNG generated, after all, and though you may know all the tiles like the back of your hand, it's good to know what you cannot see.
-
If I don't find a game fun, I don't play it.
-
Nothing about this question makes sense. Adiris has nothing special to do with crows. Are you asking for a cosmetic? Do you want crows to somehow affect her power? Are you extremely colloquially referring to Spies From The Shadows?
-
Good. Every single base game mechanic doesn't need counterplay. Removing the killers ability to hook a survivor just isn't nice to deal with as the killer. Sure, drop the guy with Unbreakable next to the girl with WGLF to chase the girl with DH and a jungle gym. That'll teach them pesky survivors.

You gotta admit, DBD's break is different. Less from burnout, more from the way how bullcrap it is on both ends sometimes.
Yeah, that's true.

I like how you're all familiar with the DBD prescribed mental health break.
But based on what y'all are saying he's decent. Plus he's a mother[BAD WORD] bad[BAD WORD] samurai.
But that just might be the weeb in me speaking.
I mean, that's just a thing with any game, but especially with multiplayers. I used to play Ark for a few months, then take a few off because of burnout, then jump back in as someone else in the tribe was heading out for their break as well.

I feel like the community in general has a pretty good grasp on Oni. Not underrated, not overhyped. Just Oni being strong bonk snowballer.

I don't consider this 100% accurate. Not all competitive people prefer the rush of winning to everything else. I compete largely with myself, and it is the challenge that interests me. That is why I want more accurate matchmaking. I don't want to get games where I consistently 4K because that means I'm not really in a worthy match. Winning is not satisfying at all if you don't earn it. Being competitive can be, at least for some people, about the journey and not the destination.
I agree, however, that there are people who just want to win, but they aren't really competitive people. People who just want it and aren't particular about how they get wins, aren't in it for the competition. I think people like that have real life issues, feel powerless, and use games like these to try and gain the illusion of being important somehow, somewhere. It is kind of tragic.
So, unlike most people who lament the sweaty, hard fought, try-hard matches, I kind of like them. When I have to fight that hard and that long, I know it was an actual competition. Win or lose, it was worthwhile and I will have had my fun in the fight.
Except this is DbD, where nothing is fair because RNG, power disparity, and perk disparity.
-
Or, to put it a other way, if the Devs wanted to remove it they would simply do what they did with survivor vaulting and push the hitbox forward at the start of the vault, although in this instance it's so that window tech literally cannot happen and it's just like trying to run into a killer that's just standing there.
-
I like the killers as they are. They're all supposed to be physically enhanced, after all, and a monster is much scarier when it's this big, menacing thing.
But if you're talking about camera's and FoV height and all that? I'm fairly certain that everyone would be on Hag's level.
-
Uh... Before I get any deeper into this, I'm gonna ask a question: Do you think it's reasonable for killers to go for 12 hooks?
-
It's a bug that sometimes happens, if you're meaning spawning basically within 1 tile of the killer, inside their TR and practically begging to die. I've gotten it maybe twice, reported it both times.
Edit: by 1 tile I mean you're in shack and the killer's right outside

I noticed a similar thing. Killers who are more about fun and less about sweat tend to be on after midnight my time. The later in the day it gets the worse it gets.
Just out of curiosity, do you play much killer? I definitely get that as survivor, but when I play killer it sort of turns into a coin toss as to whether I get 4 hardcore memers or Seal Team Blend
Edit: Uh, maybe "casual memers" is a better phrase. I'll leave it up to you to decide.

I know two that I really don’t like. Bullying with the “double tap”, and another that’s just outright nasty to whomever they’re playing against.
It’s sad that it makes them popular.
It's also sad that a certain popular streamer used to be heavily anti-toxicity and just bit by bit fell right into that rabbit hole.
-
Competitive people prefer the rush of winning to everything else. It doesn't matter how much the odds were stacked in their favour, they can very easily trick themselves into thinking that the trial was completely fair.
If people want to try their hardest to win, whatever. It's a casual game, it means pretty much nothing to win or lose. But it is wierd that people come into DbD with a competitive mindset and insist that that should be the norm.
-
Not being an arrogant douchebag. That's pretty much it, I don't care how good or bad someone is, if I can just chill and watch without cringing in a bad way then I'm gonna chill and watch and maybe cringe in a good way.
-
I'm not going to make a third comment about it. I'm just gonna say that I would have liked the original character of Prydney Sescott.

... But he is pretty much top of the roster.
Nope, not even close. Nurse, Spirit, Blight, Huntress, Billy, Oni, Pyramid Head, Deathslinger and Hag are all easily better than Freddy. He's just super easy and so outshines them all in the hands of a mediocre player.
-
Okay. Bye bye. Hopefully the next game you play won't suddenly trigger a mental switch after 4k hours that randomly makes you decide to leave. GLHF.
-
Because that's when the SWF buddies have clear schedules for their full team, and despite all the arguments otherwise even the least sweaty full squads are ridiculously difficult to beat because there's a difference between "not being sweaty" and "playing with 3-4 decent players and comms."
That drive killers to.play more sweaty because ######### losing to what are depressingly often a bunch of arrogant shites (props to the teams that aren't, y'all're lovely and I appreciate you), and that drives solo and smaller SWF parties to play sweatier just as a reflexive response and that drives even more killers to be sweatier and it's just a clusterfuck of people that wouldn't ordinarily be tryharding but are because it's that or get steamrolled.
-
Honestly? Probably 2-3, but I'm trying to average my 4k's with my I-dont-want-to-talk-about-its. I feel like it's a pretty balanced number overall.
Edit: I also don't use a lot of meta perks.
-
Dragons Grip for some one-shot. Make Your Choice for more one-shot. Infectious Fright because snowball. Whispers because tracking. Haunted Grounds because if it glows it goes. Enduring because ######### pallets. Sloppy Butcher because a lot of hits are m1's. Nurses because people heal, although I wouldn't run Nurses and Whispers together. I'm All Ears because it's an amazing perk. STBFL if you really want to be a little wierd.

While I agree with your first point I have to strongly disagree with the second. Deathslinger came out when I was still on console and even after crossplay became a thing I was still mopping the floor with survivors that had given me ptsd back when I played Clown or Micheal. Now that I'm on PC he's shockingly easy to play to an almost absurd degree.
Anyone with even a modicum of FPS experience in their lifetime can excel with Deathslinger due to the basic nature of his shot. There's no real aim sway, there's very little penalty for missing, the ADS is downright instant which is incredibly rare in FPS outside of CoD.
Given the number of people I know with plenty of FPS experience that don't have an easy time of it, and injecting a modicum of objectivity, it is clear that the skill doesn't directly transfer for most people, and in many, many others isn't there in the first place.
Just because you personally find something to be easy doesn't eliminate the skill floor or cap. If there were another game that had similar controls to playing Nurse, and people spent thousands upon thousands of hours playing it, it wouldn't change the fact that Nurse is a very difficult killer to learn. You just happened to learn in a different format.
-
Deathslinger is a perfect example of a balanced killer in the wrong way. His chase is one of the best, and it easily takes the most skill to properly use, but that's... Well, that's the end of it. Stealth? Kinda, I guess, if a 110 stealth killer that had a bigger TR than Myers is a stealth killer.
-
@Stealth said:
By 'healthy' you mean generic m1 killers that play the same as any other? What would be the point of 22 killers the require the same tactics to beat?
Blight, Billy, Oni and Huntress are all examples of killers with very strong, unique powers but reasonable counterplay.
-
I call it perfectly balanced, as all thing should be.
It's actually not - I mean, you can get a 2k with facecamp-into-noed. But in general that is the optimal goal of all trials.

You do know it got heavily buffed?

Until a few months ago, they didn't have a playerbase big enough to successfully launch a new game mode.

When the killer downs a survivor running at them and the survivor does the backflip.
Chefs kiss right there. Bonus points if they're using a hammer or other blunt object to make it look even better.

I have no strong feelings one way or another.

It's still not a crossplay issue.
It's an issue about bad matchmaking/mmr not being here yet
I agree, but in practice that's the issue.

That's not a crossplay issue though.
I see 0 difference between PC,Xbox or PS players in terms of skill.
Be upset about how easy it is to get to High Rank but NOT about crossplay. Those 2 have nothing to do with each other
To clarify: as Otzdarva has shown, the sweatiest players turn crossplay off and have created their own private ecosystem of tryharding and borderline competitiveness on each respective platform, despite the fact that DbD isn't competitive in any real sense.
-
Sounds like you're the reason so many people are getting genuinely screwed over because they lost server connection.
-
It's the Enduring of regression perks. Nice to have, not that useful in the long run, and more of a feel-good perk than anything else.
-
At the moment? MYC/Dragons Grip on killer, Built To Last on survivor.

I think Coup De Grace is very cleverly designed. It’ll teach players that lunge way too much (and miss a lot, or are simply far too lucky) to start being way more conservative with that base ability.
It’ll make players properly think about when to lunge, and Coup De Grace gives the added reward of when a lunge is used in an appropriate circumstance, the pay off should be that a hit is guaranteed, like when a survivor attempts a DH for distance then vault.
With M&K lunging is fine because you can make the necessary micro-adjustments. I think that alone is going to create a bit of a divide where good controller users get lots out of this perk and good M&K users have a trade-off.

Uh, yeah. I want. I could hit you, let you run with the speed burst, then hit the healthy obsession that only had my cooldowns worth of time to get away and down your butt.

Wait, what? Did he even swing? Was that a telepathic injury? Did he just stare intensely til you blew a whole bunch of blood vessels?

Welcome to the Blighterhood, it's good to have you, we're always happy to see new faces. Fair warning, it gets a bit extremely boring to run Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer all the time, so I would advise trying out some different perk builds to the one that everyone crows about, personally I'm a huge fan of MYC/PGTW/Dragons Grip/Infectious Fright, because I'm sadistic and I like to make people scream. Also it offers some 1-shot down-and-snowball potential, that's a nice side benefit.

- Huntress has a 40m Lullaby that is unaffected by perks or add-ons. As a result, she is one of the least stealthy killers in the game, and survivors can readily use stealth to counter her. Deathslinger has a base 24m TR, but his TR is unique and spins up much more slowly and softly than Huntress's. As a result, when you run M&A (as the majority of Deathslingers do) he basically plays like a T2 Dead Rabbit Myers. In other words, you will have almost no warning that he's coming before he's right on top of you, so using stealth against him is only really an option if you're running Spine Chill.
- Huntress cannot zone. Deathslinger can. What I mean by that is Deathslinger can continue to gain distance on a survivor while readying his ranged attack; he does move slower in ADS mode, but his ADS is so quick that he can spam it while still gaining distance on the survivor he's chasing. Deathslinger puts survivors in the same lose/lose that old Pyramid Head did. If he fakes a shot a few times, survivors have two options: 1) Dodge pre-emptively. In this case, you'll rapidly lose distance and he'll walk up and M1 you. 2) Keep holding W. In this case, the Deathslinger will realize you're not going to dodge and you'll be a sitting duck for their ranged attack. Both options only require the Deathslinger to make the right decision in order to land a hit; the skill of the survivor is entirely irrelevant. Meanwhile, Huntress, on the other hand, loses distance on the survivor she's chasing while readying a hatchet because she's required to charge it for at least a second at 78% speed (iirc) before she can throw it. When she pulls out a hatchet she has to temporarily give up on landing an M1, and when she goes in for an M1 she cannot instantly ready and throw a hatchet. Therefore, the same lose/lose situation doesn't exist for survivors.
- Huntress needs to spend 2.75 seconds at 78% speed (iirc) before she can throw a hatchet at the same speed as Deathslinger's chain. Survivors are actually able to dodge her hatchets when they're not charged, and survivors have time to get to cover before her hatchets are fully charged. Deathslinger can shoot almost instantly and his chain cannot be reactively dodged.
- When Deathslinger quickscopes, there is no audio cue for the survivor warning them that he's about to shoot. All you get is the "bang" when he fires. That audio cue only starts to play when he stays in ADS mode for a small amount of time. Huntress has a distinct audio cue when raising a hatchet and when charging it to full. Given that you can't dodge a quickscope this isn't the end of the world, but it's still just another bit of information survivors do not get against him.
- Deathslinger applies deep wounds. Huntress does not. Deep wound VFX are annoying as hell to chase through and holding M1 to mend is just not fun. It also makes breaking free from the chain pretty useless as a healthy survivor. You're getting deep wounded regardless, so all you gain is putting slightly more distance in between you and the killer. This is especially frustrating because your skill basically doesn't matter in the chase, so breaking his chain is the most interactive thing you regularly get to do against him.
- As you mentioned, Deathslinger can reload on the fly without dropping chase. Huntress will sometimes be forced to drop chase in order to restore her power.
- Deathslinger's skill floor and skill cap are extremely low, while Huntress's are much higher. Some of this has to do with how braindead zoning is, but a lot of it is also how many people have experience playing FPS. I suppose you could argue that the latter doesn't actually make the skill floor low since you do need some experience to be able to aim well, and I'd agree with that, but it's such a common skill among people who play video games that the skill floor may as well be very low. Having a low skill floor isn't necessarily a bad thing, but when you have a killer like Deathslinger with extremely limited counterplay in the 1v1, it just means that you will consistently be facing Deathslingers who are good enough to make the match miserable.
- Deathslinger sneers when M1-ing you and he laughs smugly when he downs you, which triggers me more and more as time goes on. Huntress doesn't. She just throws a tantrum when she gets pallet stunned :D
TL;DR Huntress has a massive amount of counterplay while Deathslinger has very little.
I picked up Huntress way quicker than Slinger, and from what I've heard from actual Huntress mains Slinger has a much higher skill ceiling.
Not that I disagree with the rest, and I do think his skill cap is extremely low against many teams that just fall for zoning/run in a straight line. Lower than most killers.
Edit: floor, not cap. Too many trick shots, holes and timing issues to ever call his cap "low" even against bad teams. Slinger's one of those few killers that can always do better, much to the detriment of survivors everywhere.
-
Okay... Just gonna say that Coup de Grace is not a Dead Hard counter and wasn't intended be.
