Is oni really THAT underrated?
Might be coming back from my prescribed mental health break from DBD. Was thinking of trying oni, as the title asks, is he really underrated? Or is he overhyped?

I feel like the community in general has a pretty good grasp on Oni. Not underrated, not overhyped. Just Oni being strong bonk snowballer.
Oni saw a drop in popularity when there was the bug where if your power filled up on its own (without a blood orb) you'd get locked out of your power the rest of the match and I'm not sure if that's fixed yet. Same thing with plague. Plus connecting with his club takes a bit of practice.
He's not bad, with infectious fright he becomes really snowball heavy. Without it you just hit someone in the head and carry them to the hook.
He's one of those killers you can throw into a match with any perk build and do so-so but if you overuse your club pipping is harder.
Oni as a killer is the Definition of "punished for your mistakes" if your team plays perfectly hes meh, but as soon as someone slips up the game can end in a couple minutes due to his snowball potential. He's a less consistant, but more punishing Hillbilly if he gets going essentially if that's what you're interested in.
I like how you're all familiar with the DBD prescribed mental health break.
But based on what y'all are saying he's decent. Plus he's a mother[BAD WORD] bad[BAD WORD] samurai.
But that just might be the weeb in me speaking.
As a player that main's his grand-daughter, Oni isn't underrated! He had a bug that practically chased all of his players away and since than no one really plays him as much! As a killer main Kazan Yamaoka tends to get a bit boring because once you enter Yamaoka's Wrath, it's pretty much game over after the first down you get and you just get more and more pressure and next thing you know your ending chases before you start them!
Edit: I'm not saying Oni is a boring, I'm saying that just keeping constant pressure on survivor's because your doing so well in chases tends to ruin the killer vibe!
I mean, that's just a thing with any game, but especially with multiplayers. I used to play Ark for a few months, then take a few off because of burnout, then jump back in as someone else in the tribe was heading out for their break as well.
You gotta admit, DBD's break is different. Less from burnout, more from the way how bullcrap it is on both ends sometimes.
Yeah, that's true.
One of the better snowballers in the game. He's Myers if Myers was well designed.
Hello! Oni main with around 1500 hours on him here! for starters, the bug that locks him out of his power has been fixed! (thank god, those months were absolute hell) If you like killers with a decently high skill ceiling, then Oni is your guy! learning the movement and how to flick your shots on certain tiles can be tough, but once you get the hang of him he's a monster. if you play your cards right, if you get your power before 2 gens are done, you've basically guaranteed a win if you have the right perks / game knowledge. In my opinion, he's the definition of a strong but fair killer. his power is one of the strongest if not the strongest in the game, but you've gotta work for it. in my opinion, he's tied with hag for being the third strongest killer in the game, strongest being nurse then spirit. he's incredible fun, and there's nothing more satisfying then hitting a sweet curve in a loop with a demon strike. plus he's got some of the best cosmetics in the game, that actually change appearance when you use your power! I'd recommend him! always great to see new people playing Oni, I don't see the big guy getting much love recently. any questions I'd love to answer them!
He is badass, good designed and all in all strong... vs average Survivors.
He starts as an M1 Killer, which is a Survivor Mains wet Dream come true. God Tier Loopers won't let you have your Power and you'll eventually get it when 3 gens are done since good loopers will play safe and not let you hit them.
So like I said, vs average Survivors he is strong but basically any Killer is strong vs average Survivors, his Power is very strong and lethal, but you need to get it first.
He's cool and a good Oni is scary to go against. But if the survivor are alert and stong loopers they can outright deny Blood Fury for the first few minutes of the match if not longer. He only passive charges to 98% iirc. Meaning he needs 1 hit or blood orb. Conservative looping can destroy him.
Oni isn't really underrated at all. Most the community considers him quite strong because he is.
I don't think he's under rated in the slightest, most people are aware of how strong Oni actually is. His ability to snowball is probably second to none.
