To each their own then, I guess
Look, at least in one scenario I have an actual excuse as to why I lost.

Idk I'd rather 4 DSs than 2 OOOs
I'd rather 2 OoO's over 2 Head On's.
-
There's nothing overpowered about Power Struggle. Does it have an unfair combo in Flip Flop? Yes. But unfair and OP are two very different things. It's not like DS/UB or Ruin/Undying. It's more like Soul Guard, or Spirit Fury.
-
Every other game I get someone forcing it on me or the killer, or trying to. Usually multiple someone's throughout the trial. That being said, I play just after peak hours, when (in my experience) the absolute tryhards come out. And by "tryhards" I mean "people that let their perks carry them and then complain if they lose because despite all their claims otherwise they genuinely think they should win just by equipping strong perks." DS is one of those perks on the survivor side, and it is easily the most obnoxious.
-
Yeah. No point doing otherwise, not in solo que. Might take a bit longer to get around to it, but I still want to extend them the courtesy I would prefer.
That's assuming they didn't immediately suicide before realising it was a yellow one, that is.
-
So the team screwed up so badly they got killed at 5 gens, for which there is no real excuse except "I screwed up badly," but the Blight is the one at fault for trying to kill everyone?
-
I have no idea, but I can say that since Repressed Alliance (as with all blocking perks) prevents generators from regressing it's not to big of a deal even it the regression gets applied, since it won't actually start ticking down til the perk expires and it's an easy tap away from being stopped.
-
Honestly, my earliest memories of DbD blend together with all the let's plays and streams I watched for years before actually playing the game. I genuinely don't know what I watched from what I actually experienced, it was so long ago.

I'm a meghead which means I'm a bit of a dummy, so I never got the hang of looping. If I get in a chase, I prefer window vaults and throwing those sweet hunks of wood down to close the distance at least!!
Um, not to be mean, but I think that might be what the OP is complaining about... Which is totally fine, playing safe is very strong for good reason.
-
Not really, not to me. This game has so much variety that Dead Dawg isn't even the biggest outlier. Personally, I think Midwich or Haddonfield are much more out there than Dead Dawg.
-
Well, yes and no. That is the same as can be said for almost every killer. However, Blight has a much lower skill floor than Nurse because his chief ability is to Rush wherever he needs to be. His secondary ability, Lethal Rush, is very, very hard to learn, but you don't need it in order to do okay, which is not something that can be said of Nurses blinks.
-
My personal rules?
1) don't tunnel or facecamp.
2) tunnel and facecamp the locker DS.
-
Well, Blight and Pyramid Head both have a very low skill floor, if that's what you mean by "noob friendly." Which I assume it is, because Ghostface has the highest skill ceiling of any stealth killer in the game

How do you stealth a guy with a TR that small, though? I don't mind stealth and would enjoy being able to try that against Deathslinger, but you may as well stealth a T2 Dead Rabbit Myers. It's Spine Chill or bust.
Same way you hide from Ghostface: Be extremely paranoid. And also look behind you a bunch.
-
I know, right? My two favourite killers came out this year, and I am really happy about the increasing complexity and skill cap of the killers powers. I just hope that, even though I'm not a huge fan of the twins or that playstyle, they spawn their own subgenre of dual killers like Huntress spawned ranged killers.

It isn't working. My gal was getting into the game and then that turned off. She had the same experience, game after game of SWF rigging things to get her into a room with 1-3 Red Rank and their token lower ranks. She won't play Killer anymore.
All right, good to know. Wish there had been a clearer, louder statement from the Devs on the same level as the initial change, but if wishes were horses and all that.
Edit: also, sorry to hear about that. I got to rank 1 before the system was implimented. I know the pain and sheer unfairness.
-
I hope it doesn't get changed at all except for a texture update. Father Campbell's Chapel is the best map in the entire came in terms of balance, and I really like the way it looks as well.
-
I don't know if that actually works any more. A year ago they implimented a system that only takes into account the SWF member with the highest rank while matchmaking to prevent exactly this, and I've heard conflicting statements about whether or not it was actually disabled
-
Yeah, Blight and Doctor have no cooldown. They just have to wait for their powers to recharge.
-
Look, I'm all for murdering one person over and over again, but can it please be a Claudette covered in blood crouching in a bush?
-
If you like stealth? Yes. If the Slinger isn't very good? Yes. Otherwise? Not so much, not unless you went into the trial in a meme headspace.

Assuming the worst is not a great way to judge killer strength. What about Nurse then? At her worst, she is not blinking at all and chases the survs normally, which is totally futile bc she is slower then the survivors (only with bloodlust she might get one or two hits). Or let her blink, but miss each and every one.
By assuming the worst, Nurse is the weakest killer, followed by Myers (stuck in Tier 1, bc no stalks). Even Hag is weaker than trapper if you assume the worst, bc she is a 110% killer.
At her worst Nurse can kill almost every survivor because teams, even in best-case scenario's, rarely work well enough to escape.
Perhaps I should clarify: I assume a very good player in a very bad scenario.

Trapper is by no means the weakest. He really needs his bag addons to be playable, thats for sure, but his snowball potential is insane. Just with two unfortunate traps (for the survs), you can totally turn a sure loss in a win in seconds. He is only weak when he is played wrong, like every other killer. So if you face one that does not use his traps or places it in obvious places, then sure its ggez. But a competent one is really dangerous, and often totally underestimated. I've fallen to this so often myself, seeing it's "only" a trapper, so it should be an easy game. And then snap, ran into a trap and was picked up. Getting of the hook, not caring about traps, snap again. Likely dying on the hook then, bc the others were careless as well.
I don't assume best-case scenario's to judge strength. I assume worst. And, as I said, at his worst Trapper is an m1 killer that wastes a bunch of time setting up only to have survivors not even try to go to any loops ever in existence because that's not actually a thing that they need to do in order to buy their team time.
-
Wow, yeah, I can see why that would be an issue. I hope the Devs add the option to scale the HUD manually.
-
Wrong. The game would totally be playable. I would just become a Nurse main alongside everyone else.
-
It gets me the first time it pops up, and then I'm usually expecting it and it's totally fine. Even tapping a gen to stop the regression only screws me if I have to immediately jump through a window.
But but but but but, I'm on PC and I usually get skillchecks at 60fps. New-gen consoles and good PC's, assuming no unavoidable stutter, are always going to have an advantage when hitting the skillcheck.
-
... what? Flip Flop and Power Struggle? I mean, sure, it's annoying and unfair that survivors have yet another perk combo that punishes snowballing, but... What? It's a meme combo, not an actual powerful duo
-
I play a lot of m1 killers and I do fine at rank 1. Well, I did. Now I mostly just play Blight and Slinger because too many survivors would rather just hold W than actually have a proper chase, with mindgames and risk-taking and a good bit of juggling.

You said "the PC version," not "my specific potato PC."
Yeah, my potato PC with a Ryzen 5 6-core-12-thread processor clocking at 3.6ghz pre-overclock, Radeon 5500 xt 8gb card, and 16 gigs of ram that plays every single game I have ever tried to play at a bare minimum of 60 FPS at maximum settings except ######### DbD. My bad. Should have rembered I'm using a clock battery.
I've got no doubt your machine is better, and I'm not here to measure dicks. Just pointing out that I've got the processing power to run DbD at 60fps on minimum settings and it just doesn't stop the stutter for reasons I cannot fathom.

Thing is tho, you cannot avoid that. Even with the changes everyone else suggested, Ebony Mori is still extremely common in bloodwebs and bypasses all that anyway. The only reason those killers ever tunnel and/or camp is because they ran out, even though I cant see any reason you'd run out of Ebony's. I literally did an experiment on how many Ebony Mori's I could get while levelling a killer to level 50 and then try my hardest to get rid of all of them while still spending BP and getting more Ebony Mori's. After 50 games, I still had enough to continue but after that I got bored.
Obviously I used BBQ to maximise bloodpoint output, but there are some bloodwebs where you get 2 Ebony's and sometimes survivors use BPS or Ghastly Gateau, all earning me enough bloodpoints to keep on feeding the Ebony Mori train. I didnt enjoy any of the games I played, I just wanted to know if it was a legitimate strategy, and I am actually disgusted that it could be if you had some lucky RNG.
I might actually do it again, as I happen to be leveling a killer I am currently prestiging, and considering P3 has the highest chance of getting ultra rare offerings, I want to experiment with how long the reign of Ebony Mori can be. I do tend to be able to predict where the Entity will start consuming next fairly accurately and essentially play a game of bloodweb chess and win most of the time, making some bloodwebs only cost 30k BP to get to the next one(especially if it has nothing I want). If it ends up giving me more Ebony Mori's than I can use(again), I will definitely make a post about it, urging to change Ebony immediately.
If you want to know a fun and completly unrelated fact about Ebony Mori's, Billy used to be able to take one into every single game because each level 50 bloodweb had one because he had no pink add-ons. Huntress can almost do the same. Yay bloodweb design.

Tunneling late game is not an issue tho, more often than you think, late game tunneling is actually necessary. All DS is meant to do, is prevent players from being sacrificed early in game. In my opinion, this means preventing survivors from dying before they had the oppertunity to get a black pip. If they didnt get at least a black pip in late game, they deserve to be sacrificed.
I mean, lets set up a late game situation: you have a survivor who got hooked before first gen, this survivor somehow managed to avoid the killer the remainder of the game untill there are 2 generators left. Then the killer gets her and hooks her again. The killer has 0 sacrificed people and needs 1 survivor dead to continue his own momentum. It would be incredibly idiotic to call that killer a tunneller for securing a kill when 2 generators are left. If it was a sweaty SWF rushing 3 gens, then it also doesnt matter anymore, because its a sweaty SWF and they deserve to be sacrificed ASAP.
So really, tunnelling late game doesnt really exist. There are probably 1-3 types of situation where I could consider the killer still tunnelling late game, but then you're definitely on the boundary of situations that could be considered tunnelling. If 4 survivors are alive when there is 2 gens left, 1 simply needs to die. It is why you see a lot of Ivory Mori's happen somewhere around 2-3 gens.
By late game, I just meant not immediately. And it is a problem: petty little killers that just want their 1 undeserved pity kill will absolutely tunnel and camp in the actual late game, despite having no reward for it at all. This is the most common time where I see tunnelers get DS'd, and good killers avoid it, because good killers snowball.
-
Not true. I suck and still have fun. But sometimes you do just need to take a break, because it does get frustrating and borderline torturous.
-
This doesn't really fix the problem that is DS. It needs to be a constant threat to prevent certain people from hardcore tunneling, but it also needs to not protect the survivor who tries to use it offensively and/or force it. All this does is buff it so that it's a guaranteed-use perk but also make it so that those aforementioned killers will tunnel in the late game.
-
Do you mean by hiding Victor nearby while playing as Big Sis, or by literally sitting there as Victor while Charlotte is somehwere far away?

I can't think of a single time I decided to kick a pallet just because someone could reset.
Did you play when Oni was released?
-
Any Means Necessary is a perk that forces killers to play around it in games it's not even in because it's so damn strong. The survivors finally dropped an okay pallet that can be played around and that it would be beneficial to leave down? Nope, kick it because someone might come along and pick it up.
-
You can get over them if you back up and aim it so that you will reach the height of your arc above them.
-
At a quick glance it's easy to mix them up. Don't get me wrong, they are very different when you stop and absorb the details, but it's kind of like Kate and Yui. I get them confused all the time til I see their faces or recognise their outfit.

Arrogance implies a sense of superiority, self importance, or entitlement. None of which I would call someone who assumes ones sexuality.
So someone that thinks they know something they cannot possibly know is not acting superior, self important or entitled? Why? Because they are right most of the time? I don't care if it's about sexuality or what I had for breakfast, an assumption is pretty arrogant when you get down to what it means to make one: you have no real information or evidence about a conclusion you are asserting. A safe assumption is still an assumption, and still subject to being potentially wrong.
Not that it stops people from making them, but that's their mistake to make. And mine, of course - though not about someone's identity. I long ago learned that nothing about humans can be taken at face value.

I wouldn't call people who assume those things arrogant. A majority of the population is straight. Wasn't an estimated number of LGBT people only at 4%? I honestly haven't checked in a while.
Regardless, most people can tell I'm gay right away because I'm feminine. However, my boyfriend is very masculine and people assume he is straight all the time. He doesn't mind correcting them. Nor would I mind if people assumed the same about me.
Making assumptions without evidence is arrogance, at least in my opinion. And that rule applies to everything. You're pretending to know something you cannot possibly know. How isn't it?

Once again, I can only speak from my own experiences but I don’t think it’s this simple.
I could, as you’ve said, ignore heteronormative ideals and then character’s sexualities would just be an unknown (unless otherwise confirmed). However, I would argue that that isn’t good LGBTQ+ inclusivity. Historically, LGBT+ people were definitely excluded from any real representation. The most we ever got to inclusion was just not complete exclusion, where character’s identifies remained undefined.
If we want good LGBTQ+ representation, it needs to be explicit. The mere possibility of a character in a heterosexual relationship being LGBT+ is inadequate, it doesn’t really do anything to normalise or depict LGBT individuals.
I'm not saying what's currently there is adequate. This whole thing started because I pointed out that no-one is confirmed as straight, and assuming them as such is doing us all a disservice.

I've tried a fair bit of survivor with a controller. It actually plays a lot better for me when I remember what buttons are what, it's just that I... Well, forget what buttons are what and grumpily sideline my controller as I'm being carried to the hook

Game stutter is game stutter, and every PC is put together differently. Plus, controllers are only a disadvantage as precision killers.

True, there is a big difference. But the point that multiple heterosexual relationships or hints (eg Ace’s cosmetic descriptions) have been mentioned still stands
Yeah, and I definitely think it'll be wierd if that keeps being the case. I just hate that people so often forget that LGBT+ isn't just LG. That's an appliance company, not a social movement.
Maybe it stems from my personal experience of underpresentarion and getting ignored, maybe I'm just being too sensitive for my own good. I don't know any more.

I don’t know your personal experiences but where I live people are simply assumed to be straight unless otherwise stated. If you are in a relationship with someone of the opposite gender then it’s just assumed you’re straight.
Society as a whole is very heteronormative and I would say this extends into DbD too. Straight is often seen as the “default” and LGBTQ+ people are deemed a variation of that. It shouldn’t be that way but unfortunately that’s how a lot of people see it.
I repeat my earlier comment: who cares what idiots think. That's their mistake to make, so don't make it yourself.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1745337#Comment_1745337
I don't totally disagree, but there's a larger context in the LGBT+ community where the message for the past century has been, "You will never be explicitly included -- the closest you can come is not being explicitly excluded, so just be happy with that." And there's a really long tradition of reading into popular media and trying to invent your own queer representation in any space that isn't explicitly claimed for heterosexuals. For a lot of people, it feels like the time has come when that shouldn't be necessary and everyone should be explicitly included in the way that straight people always have been.
In the case of DBD specifically, the message from the devs says that they intended not to explicitly identify any of the characters as gay or straight, but then they messed up and explicitly identified some of them as straight without thinking about it, which they recognize as a problem. The question people are asking themselves when they're frustrated by that isn't, "Are gay people explicitly excluded from the DBD universe?" it's "Are they explicitly included in the same way that straight people are?" And right now, they're not.
As far as I am aware, none of the characters are straight. Some are in heterosexual relationships. That's a big, big difference.
-
No, I think Trapper is still the weakest killer in the game and will continue to be post-clown-buff. He's seriously the only killer in the entire game who can waste time setting up a power that no-one even interacts with because they can just choose to hold W instead.
Pig is weak, but not that weak. At her absolute worst she's an m1 killer with mild game slowdown. As opposed to Wraith, whose a stealth killer with no stealth (at his worst), trapper who lets gens go for no reason, Legion who relies on quick injures and deadzones, and Clown who has a massive self-slowdown but at least counters Hold-W.
-
A lot of people forget that most spirits are bad spirits. It's still frustrating going against them, don't get me wrong, but they tend to make a lot of mistakes you can capitalise on even with Stridor.
