I had like zero interest in this game at all, my sister literally pestered me into playing it with her then bought it for me. I was too obsessed with Friday the 13th which seemed more laid back and fun then the community and lack of content turned me away so I turned to DBD. The fast paced horror made me tune in.
-
Hey man, I respect you as a poster but I do not agree with this at all, but to each their own. My problem is when people go after others who see an issue with a live service being in the game other than that, I could care less what you enjoy.
-
So I've been lurking this site for probably a year or so, it's like WWE for me. I have faces and heels that I like here.
Seeing people clap back at Trusted members in the past was like seeing Stone Cold stunner the entire Macman Family 🤣
Rebellious members are always entertaining
-
I can't tell you what to think, I personally will not let up. It's a distraction. They need to get their predatory live service crap out of the game and stop treating us like 🐋.
The event was an eye opener to this

Gonna just repeat MY old arguments for this, but I've done 4 WITHOUT these perks or items, still made all the saves and died in 1 hook and ONE HIT because NoED.
The OP also said that the "do bones" argument is not realistic as we, as solo players, have as many things to do and contend with as the killer. Bones are a priority, but so's keeping alive the other 3 meatsacks that we have to call teammates so we can DO said bones.
Equipping perks is also unrealistic as we only have 4 perk slots. And, well, they're usually taken by perks more necessary for immediate survival. I never run Adrenaline because of the fact that endgame is a maybe.
And Avis, it does reward bad killers. As much as it does bad survivors, if not more. It is a perk that says "You're doing badly and losing, here's Exposed. The strongest status in the game. I'll even hide it for you too!" and that's just wrong. Devour Hope is the ONLY other perk to do so, but you have to earn that.
Here we go with the shaming lol. Noed is an end game perk and the suggestions are correct

But it's not modern day gaming though. Its pay for the game plus dlcs AND free to play mechanics.
Modern day games are one or the other, not both. Well, except when EA tried it will Battlefront but that didn't go so well.
At this point, if they want battlepass mechanics, then we should be getting free chapters.
And regarding profits, it clearly isn't getting much of it invested back in to the game.
It's the reason I'm not very excited about the next generation of gaming and it sucks so much. All I could see are innovate ways of taking our money and less of the cool bells and whistles that screamed "next gen".
-
@DarkSonAaron said:
I agree with you on a lot of this but unfortunately this is modern day gaming, and even worst there's a lot of people that won't stay on track because one of the favourite characters got a half decent skin. The only issue I really have with what you said is this: "The developers need money for this game to stay afloat. They're a small indie company", while I do agree that they make a lot of money (from what I can see around 109m per year) we don't know if they use that just to flood money into the higher ups accounts or if they are actually trying to use that for growth and make the game better overall especially considering that this is their biggest venture and revenue stream.
I can understand this, but the company isn't as helpless as people make them out to be. But I do agree, but it's a good thing we're having these conversations and we are also seeing some changes. EA was taken to task over lootboxes and there's all the shady crap Ubisoft pulls on their customers and the people that work for them. I think there needs to be healthier alternatives that doesn't insult their customer base or in most cases ruin their friggin lives.

It's actually a lie that companies don't pay taxes. There are companies (and ppl) that don't pay certain taxes but they do actually pay other taxes. U can't point to one and act like they're not paying millions in taxes. Whether or not u feel that the company should be paying every tax cuz they're rich enough is a different discussion. Then there are some articles that act like because the companies overpaid in taxes and got money back from the government, as shown in records, the government is paying tax payer money to companies. Finally, there are the ppl that imply that tax credits and tax breaks are the same thing as governments giving money to companies. I wish my tax credit from my school loans was the government giving me money but it isn't.

If it was killer sided, it definitely wasn't intentional. Poor game design and overt bias are two different things. People are taking issue with the developers wording. I personally could care less if you keep your item, but I could see where ppl are coming from. Are you trying to seem like an obtuse gnat on purpose these days?
Also, how about concerning yourself with the large pay wall this game has become? That's what the rest of the sensible players are doing.

Idk how new you are, but here’s a few things off the top of my head:
- Constantly pushing for the Rift to be a thing while making the grind unnecessarily long.
- Hosting a Cosmetic competition and then halfassing the winner’s design.
- This entire “event” despite the event 2 years ago being better in every conceivable way.
- Selling cosmetics as full linked sets to get more money.
- Tieing the event to the rift so you can only use the cankers 3 times for only 4k BP.
- Sounds bugs galore.
- Changing Discordance out of nowhere with no prior testing in the PTB instead of the laundry list of actual issues.
- Continued push for breakable walls despite complaints, they even READDED THE GOD WINDOW ON MACMIILIAN.
I could go on but this is a company that has burned up any goodwill they have earned
Jesus ######### christ. This a thousand times

Hidden JumpScares in Chests, Ghosts that appear once in a while, tons of cosmetics to earn, dang they also got a Leatherface and a Saw cosmetic in store...
And here we get an Event tied to a Rift? Really? With nothing special but tons of stressed players that try hard to finish their challenges?
Come on...
I mean THIS is the Horror game... not Call of Duty....

I'm sorry you don't understand my comparison 😊 If SWF actually broke the game, the devs would remove it. I've beat many 4 man's. I've lost to the 4 man's that sweat harder than me. How is this broken? You cannot win every match you play.
I understood your point, it was poorly typed out. You just failed to justify it. What does that have to do with third party comms...? I said third party comms broke the game not swf.
I'm not trying to be an ass, I don't quote get your tone.

Except this time is really way more justified than any other time?
They don't really deserve the defense, the event is a literal paywall, with nothing added to gameplay core like the other events in the past, they've been getting away with some really stupid crapp in the past and still are trying to pull out the wallets of everybody for low effort stuff.
If you're grossed out at the truth then maybe the forums are not your place to begin with.
I mean I'd argue the entire game has become a giant pay wall. They've strayed from the path and it finally caught up to them hopefully the community won't get short attention span again then stay on them.

We can't let up this momentum until things have completely changed, otherwise it'll go the way it was before. We wouldn't accept this from EA or Activision we shouldn't accept this from Behavior either

Saying all sorts of vile garbage in post-game chat. I don't really care about all the ways people can say "lol ur bad" but you know what I mean, people that seemingly can't keep the slurs and overly personal attacks under control.
Going into a match with the explicit intent of making people mad, even placing it before actually trying to win. Big bonus points if someone does this and then cries while pretending to be an innocent victim when their opponent(s) troll them back and come out on top.
... And that's pretty much it.
I hate this so much, I've faced so much anti-black racism from playing the matches that I barely even have motivation to play killer anymore. No matter how much a player does something you agree with there's no excuse for slurs. No excuse to make members of your fandom feel unwanted and unsafe.

The term "toxic" has been thrown around dbd so much, that I think it has lost its meaning. My definition of toxicity is intentionally ruining other players experiences with bad intentions, ######### talking in the end game chat and hacking/exploiting.
What do you consider toxic?
This is a very complicated topic to me that I wish players would approach with nuance, but my definition is your example with a few more additions if I may
See I don't think that perks, tactics, add ons, killers and the likes are toxic but I could understand not enjoying certain things right? I hate being bodyblocked by an entire SWF that happens to always know where I am, but I get it. Bodyblocking could be a pretty good play, but I know the difference between not liking something and thinking it's toxic. Bodyblocking as killer to keep survivor from leaving basement then going afk is toxic, bodyblocking to save an ally is not. It's about intent.
I want to go in depth with this in another post, but rather than having rulebooks, manipulating players into playing the way they want to, and shaming we should push for a more dynamic and free game especially for killers. Survivors have this and unpopular opinion: they think of the coolest ######### with the tools allowed. You should have seen my face when I was 360ed. We need more of that. Dead by Daylight needs more room for players to expand the way they play thus maintaining surprise with a neat cat and mouse feel.

You're operating under the logic that it's a real online horror game and not some sports game with a horror skin stretched on or a Dlc shopping mall. Otherwise I get you

3: The new survivor add on can be used whenever the player wants after the event has ended, but the killer is limited to during the event ONLY. (Devs, your bias is showing)

A lot of survivors do quit when facing certain killers. Everybody in this game will have biases, regardless of who they play as. I personally don't mind going against 4 man SWF sweat groups, but I know I might get stomped if I don't play equally sweaty and rearrange my perks and offerings to counter what I assume they'll have as perks.
Luckily, I play a lot of Pyramid Head and his power is a great counter to a lot of regularly ran survivor perks (provided they messed up and step in a trail of torment)
Either way, SWF can be annoying, but so can killers who love ebony Mori's and noed. This game is near impossible to balance, at least in a way that would make everyone happy.
Moris are tools to be used within the game...
Third party comms are not. I can't say I understand this comparison.
There's not enjoying something and playing against something that breaks the game.

This is the forums. I'm giving my opinion about the game and topic. Which I'm allowed to do. Don't be toxic and rude because you don't agree with what I said. If you have such a problem with the event, don't play it. No one is forcing you to. Especially if it's mostly archives stuff then you really aren't being forced to. You just won't have an event to play.
Well number one, you were the one insulting the posters here who are frowning upon Behavior's predatory business practices. We're allowed to do so whether you like it or not. If we can't criticize things we enjoy then how can it improve? That's why the forums are here.
Also "DON'T PLAY IF YOU DUN LIKE IT GUYZ!" or "YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY IT!" are not only weak retorts but also naïve. Literally no corporation put crappy microtransactions in their games then expect you not to purchase them. It's the reason DBD is designed the way it is so people would get tired of the grind then throw away their cash. I'm willing to wager that you have to purchase certain survivors and killers to complete certain Rifts. The skins are also a popular manipulation tactic which Fortnite made famous, some kid is going to see their friends with the cool skins then get made fun of for not having them. It's the haves and have nots. It's by design.
Also...I work with victims of addiction? Do you know how many video game addicts I encounter in my line of work? These people go to video games to recover from certain addictions or traumas only to be exploited by a hobby they love. These are the people these companies target. If my arms weren't chained to an NDA, I'd happily show you the underbelly of how things work in that regard.
While we have many disagreements on these forums that seem like endless bickering, this is a pressing issue that we should all be pushing to see some changes towards, not just toward Behavior but the industry itself. Suggesting that people ignore an issue like this or not discuss it is intellectually lazy.

This is a shot from OP’s video.
Gives a prime example to your “full time job” reference...
80+ hours in match to achieve those numbers.
Big time streamers are getting paid to play DBD. They and fog whisperers will push the Behaviour agenda to their loyal everyday funders (viewers) who may or may not understand the whole picture. It’s an easy middle man job that BE reaps the benefits from without paying those main stream “employees” of theirs who lure more players into the grind (or “trap” as you so astutely recognize it) and make sure they stay good and addicted there, amidst it all.
An interesting partnership with no contracts signed.
It’s almost surprising these posts and discussions are allowed to remain in the forums w/o being canceled-out or erased.
I’m thankful that we can discuss these truths freely and openly, in a healthy manner.
Wish those at Behaviour who opened the doorway allowing the grimy greed machine to rule the environment of DBD would have the decency to tone it down slightly, if not altogether.
All players, not just kids (kids... which is worse, even criminal, imo) are being seduced into the susceptibility of the swindle.
Well put. I too am glad people are discussing this.

I don’t know why killer mains want SWF nerfed so badly. You’re literally just having fun with your friends. Not every SWF is a “bully squad” as killers call them, most just want to talk and have fun sometimes even meme. I get I get it, some perks are broken with SWF and comms take over specific perks but if you take away SWF you’ll probably be winning 99% of your killer matches.
I find this subject matter annoyingly frustrating because people miss the point, which to be fair I blame other killers for this. The issue isn't with SWF itself, it's with comms. It breaks the game. I don't want either removed, the issue is that the developers have really outdated philosophies with the game. And it isn't with SWF, it's with a lot of stuff. Hell, I play with friends. Why would I want it removed?
When you play against four other players that always know where you are, what you're using, your strategies, and playing with a ######### rulebook on top of that, it gets frustrating. Me personally, I'm fine with people disagreeing but it's being purposely obtuse and confrontational now that's what annoys me.((Not that you appear to be doing this, but this happens every time someone mentions 3rd party comms))
Don't even get me started on the horrid matchmaking, I face death squads way beyond my skill level.

SWF is mixed into soloq rank matchmaking with no info. SWF appear as normal players but often play with voice comms and often coordinated. So killers go from one match where they dominated and maybe even played nice and let the survivors do points or give the hatch to someone into matches where they get speed blinded on pickups by multiple survivors or get locker stunned in every loop. This is highly inconsistend and no fun for killers. In return, you see a lot more mori's, campers and toxic killers in general. This ruins the fun in this game for a lot of people.
MM feels like total RNG and you never actually know upfront what you are going against. Maybe you had a bad experience in the last match, so you weaponize up to the teeth for the next one against a casual or maybe even weak group of survivors who just want to have fun and then get all the dirt they don't deserve. Just because the other group had to be super toxic.
It's a bad experience for everyone and should be dealth with.
Oooh okay!! I thought they did some weird new thing with swf. lol

I can see some of those change ideas helping. I see newbies come in and i make friends with them. Help them out and try support the game, but so many left after the stranger thing dlc dropped because of the high levels of toxicity. (I would rather get one player telling me i suck after a match, then four attacking me) and so much other screwed up msgs (how are you still alive? Racism, sexism) i don't blame them. One person you can shovel off 3 or 4 is too much to ask. Forced swfs is a lot to deal with. It's bad and i know not all are but a lot is still too many. Don't remove it just let the players decide how they want to play. Imo
The racism, sexism, and queerophobia is really bad. Dealt with it from other survivor's and when I play killer
It's why I just play with ppl I know. Less headache

And I don't doubt that, I appreciate the small minority of you that do but the majority of you do not. Look at the comments in this thread, furthermore look at how many times this was discussed. The first year I played dbd was back before the tomes, before the battlepass system, and the game was a few simple daily challenges and that's it. That year was the only time I played the old Halloween event and it was FUN.
I loved having to hunt down the pustula flowers, and then slowly collect syrum all while straining your ears to make sure the killer didn't find you in the process and kill you before you collected enough to keep it. Sure it crushed the pacing of the game, but for an event that only lasts a couple weeks out of the year for a game that always runs relatively the same way each trial? I don't think that's really a big deal.
I was sad to find out last year the pustula flowers had been taken out and the syrum was just an additional rift reward in the battle pass, and I'm equally sad to hear it's likely going to be the same this year. I'm sorry, but slapping all of the Halloween event stuff into the battle pass isn't REALLY an event.
I don't hate the battle pass system by any means. Unlike a lot of people, I kind of like switching up my playstyles and characters to complete challenges. It keeps the game kind of fresh after playing it for a few years. But the battle pass has taken all of the joy and fun out of most holiday events since they've just been slapped together.
I just wanna steal the Blight's gross experiment liquid from flowers. That's all I want.
They should have been part of the Blight's powers
