I think this is great. More representation is always good. Though I don't think Behavior understand their audience, the Dead by Daylight fanbase is a reactionary hellscape. Anytime someone points this out, they're shouted down, talked over, and belittled; I'd go as far as to say that it's worse here than it is on reddit
-
If you mean a killer that could shift into other survivors then forget it. SWF would friggin demolish them.

Thats not playing aggressively, its playing toxic...💀
Would you enjoy getting teabagged by a 4 man swf who clicky clicky?
I mean do you call out survivors that do this? Genuine question.

LMFAO I play this game on Switch, in hand held mode(Yes, BOTH my joy sticks are ######### up beyond hope and joy cons are stupid ######### expensive to replace), AT WORK(which is a convenience store that can have anywhere from 2 to 5 people inside at once and they can each take up to 7 minutes or so deciding what they want, digging for change and small talking) forcing me to LITERALLY PUT DOWN THE SYSTEM and get ######### done and I STILL walka way with 4K matches. "This is not a casual game" LMFAO HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
An online game's difficulty doesn't factor into whether a game is competitive or a casual game. You constantly getting wins does not invalidate the argument that DBD has competitive elements. That being said, your store has some amazing wifi
-
You have said what I have always wanted to say. I will add to that and say that this game even has its own "hardcore" culture. There are rules akin to that of playing street basketball. Casual games do not have unspoken rules like this. Like any competitive game you will face humiliation if you perform actions that are deemed "unhonorable". There's also the fact that the game punishes you when you lose, it pushes you to be competitive.
There's also expectations surrounding this game. Now, this is what I gathered from the responses here but the survivors are seeking a competitive experience akin to COD while the killers want this game to actually be a horror game, between the two I'd say the latter is not possible. This game is a glorified sports skin with a horror theme. It's tag. I gave up wanting a horror game a long time ago. Dead by Daylight is fast pace action. I wish the developers will actually bare this in mind and stop being stubborn, whatever original vision they had is gone.
((Have to point out here that this is not a dig at survivors, but both sides seem to expect different things from the game.))
Now if you want a casual game that actually feels like fun horror then you'll have to play Friday the 13th, or Deceit. While it makes sense to take Dead by Daylight seriously, it's cringy when people do it with Friday the 13th. Friday does not punish you for losses, rank actually does not matter, and even the act of farming is strange since you're going to be awarded no matter what.

I remember how back in the day when the survivor rule book was an actually real thing before being memed into oblivion. Using a killer power was considered a crutch and if you had to use it you weren't a good killer
It is ironic really. The talking points change, the sides change, but the mentality never does. Now exhaustion perks (Even in their current state) are now "crutches"
Ah yes survivors must only use the most "balanced" perks like Plunder but not actually because it could give them a good item with addons
The humanity. Sigh we've become a bunch of whiners
I don't know if anything has changed, but the survivor's rulebook complaint is more nuanced than just complaining about a killer doing something survivors do not like. I believe both sides complain. Survivors have certain tactics and perks that I hate and I use certain things survivors hate with a fiery passion, I think that's a thing in every game lol. It's the harassment, the shaming, and aggression you face from the other side that's the issue and the side that deals with this the most are killers. If you run a certain perk or use a tactic survivors hate then you will be humiliated, made fun of, and called racial slurs((this is not acceptable for any damn reason)) at the end of the match, worse is that you have four players doing this to you and you're just one person. Killers using certain perks or add ons earn you the badge of shame, I can't think of a single survivor perk that makes you out to be a loser than NOED does for killers. I have three years of experience with the game, but that has been my experience with Dead by Daylight, you have to use an "honor code" when playing as killer and as survivor you're not playing with such handicaps. It's strange. You're herded into playing the way the other side wants you to play. That's my take on the rulebook. A rule has to be enforced and doing things like lets say camping, tunneling, using certain add ons, or perks will see you shamed in forums or harassed after a match; it gets worse after you lose a match. Hell, I've been a survivor that was harassed by other survivors.
That being said, the killers in this thread are acting in bad faith. A lot of the issues regarding exhaustion and exhaustion perks could be boiled down to game design which has nothing to do with survivor players themselves. I'm not a fan of the insulting comments and it adds nothing

No. You sound like a salty killer main that got adrenaline/DS bombed and is trying to find a way to nerf them.
Why do people immediately jump to these bad faith responses?

well you see. There is this marketing strategy mostly used by mobas where new characters are made super powerful so that people buy it then after a bit nerf it to where it shoul have started.
I sort of gave up on the game, but I did hop back on there to play the PTB as I am a huge Silent Hill fan but I could definitely see this. I don't want to spend my money just to get a killer that's going to be nerfed into oblivion which to be fair they did the same with Ash, luckily I'm an Evil Dead fan so having him just be another skin don't bother me. Pyramid Head is fun to play and could have potential, he's a threat as all killers should be.
-
People saying "Chill bro, it's just a game" as if that excuse the ######### matchmaking.
-
I'm probably the only person that's amped about Candyman and I don't understand why, the movie was amazing. The themes were well explore, the music was beautiful, and it was a tragedy. It's a very unique horror film. One of my all time favorites next to Hellraiser. Candyman's ######### up background as a murdered slave is perfect for Dead by Daylight and the implications of Helen being trapped with him is pretty ######### up, unique given that his feelings of her are a romantic obsession. It'd feel a lot more personal compared to the other killer and survivors.
Carrie would be another interesting choice, though this is highly unlikely.

Jason is not coming to DBD.
1. They already have him(AKA trapper)
2. They can't use any outfits, maps, or characters from the franchise because of the lawsuit.
3. He would be weak, and his powers would be stupid. There not gonna let you see where survs are at all times, your not gonna be able to teleport across the map, and any stealth he has will be HARD countered by OoO and spine chills.
4. If ANYTHING was allowed to be done, don't you think they would focus more on another film than DBD or updating/fixing his OWN game? It's so bad his toy line got pulled from necca. Trick or treat studios can't even sell his masks.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/920/Polish_20200518_155800488.png
Parts of your argument I take issue with...
- The Trapper and the Jason are in no ways similar. The Trapper as a character isn't uncommon within the slasher genre, he's silent, evil, obscures his face with a mask, and is deadly. This could apply to any of the Dead by Daylight characters such as The Clown, Michael, or the Huntress. So would the Trapper be a rip off of Michael Myers? Jason's a supernatural zombie with mommy issues and the Trapper is some rich douchebag without any powers other than his aura reading abilities. He's more so like Axel from My Blood Valentine than Jason. He may be inspired by Jason but that's about it.
- Even if the Friday the 13th wasn't a copyright nightmare, Jason could still appear in multiple games. He's in Mortal Kombat X, Killer Puzzle, and Friday the 13th: The Game. Just because he's in Friday the 13th: The Game doesn't mean he can't appear in Dead by Daylight, provided the smoke settles after the lawsuit.
I'm unsure of what they'd do with his powers, but I highly doubt they'd take influence from his game though I'd love an OP killer of this nature, I could agree with him not fitting in due to his abilities but bare in mind that Jason has gone through various changes over the franchise.

Hell no LOL😂🤣

This community is so ######### weird...
We've gotten to the point to where we have to apologize for using viable characters now. I can't imagine guilt tripping or shaming another character for using tools they deem to be good in order to win. There seriously has to be a more productive way of airing our grievances than this crap. Like is it seriously wrong to have viable killers?
-
We can't use certain killers, we can't use certain perks, and certain add ons, or certain tactics. We can't do anything without being "toxic" or "sweaty", granted I understand certain nuances and could empathize how certain things would annoy survivors.((The OP was a statement made toward killers)) But I understand why wanting to win and playing with the best of your ability is consider sweaty, especially for a role that pushes you to be aggressive and competitive.

That kind of sounds dangerous, not gonna lie.
If people feel burned out by something, it's not mentally healthy to continue to force oneself to play.
I stopped playing Killer in general because the role itself is broken. Nurse is broken beyond belief. Clown is a buggy mess. Plague is a buggy mess. Myers is a buggy mess. Ghost Face is a buggy mess -- the entire role is broken and I just don't want to deal with it anymore and a lot of people feel that way.
I barely play anymore at all because the game is just terribly optimized. How we are nearing 4 years and we still have a bare-bones options menu missing very basic features that even Runescape has a better and more filled options menu than this game does is beyond me.
You may keep playing because you love the game, but I quit playing and supporting the game because I want this game to be better, because I know it can be better, and until proper optimization is in and the dozens and dozens of bugs are fixed, they are not going to get another penny from me.
This so much. I've stopped playing for the same reason, I play both sides but I enjoy the role of killer and playing that felt like a job. I enjoy watching the discourse within the community regarding changes and updates but that's about it. I made a "come back" but I just wasn't feeling it.

Ok. Just because I killer plays slightly differently to the rest of the cast doesn't make them braindead. You can play him like Trapper with his snares, which is what I do a majority of the time, but you also get the added bonus of not having to pick them up and can try to shut off long loops or infinites by either snaring them for a hit or psyching them out into running off. Maybe most people aren't just big brain enough to enjoy Freddy, like how Hag players spam traps at hooks.
If we want to talk about braindead killers, how about something like Infinite Tier-III Myers, or even Tombstone Myers, Insta-saw Bubba and Billy or Hook-Trap Hag.
Uh brain dead? How? You literally have to bust your ass to reach infinite tier 3 with Myers. You're handicapped throughout the entire map, you'd have to be playing against potatoes to mori everyone.

People actually care about... what characters they play and skins for them? lol...
most skins imo for every survivor and killer are ugly - and there’s no point on spending money on them.
I can understand playing killer but like, the survivors are just all empty shells and could honestly just be interchangeable tbh
Many members of the fanbase has grown attached to these characters, it's not exactly unusual really
-
Fellow Claudette lover here, I'm tired of her getting crap skins as well. She's one of the OG 4 and she gets no respect. I see a new skin for Nea or Dwight pretty much what feels like every month. I'd be fine if her skins were more creative, I wanted a bunny Claudette instead or some weeb skin and I mostly play as Feng; I was in the bunny Feng cult for years and I would have preferred this instead. Though...I'd kill for a heavy metal Claudette skin complete with corpse paint

The 3D model was removed because ALLEGEDLY (Please don't come for me DBD) the creator was asked to remove the 3D model as it would give people an incentive to modify game files which BHVR slaps as a no no. In my OPINION (again please don't come for me BHVR) from what I've heard around the artist mill it does seem believable as despite the games success and engine used to create models there is a chronic lack of 3D models for DBD outside of certain SFM animation channels and there were are not only any models available in the in Niconi Solid Pixiv or Art Station community (unless they are the official creator on behalf of BHVR) community but many 3D artists and modelers make it clear they do not take and DBD related commissions because "it's too much of a hassle". (Which is SUPER weird IN MY OPINION since the popularity of DBD in Asian countries is insane and compares to MOBAs and MMORPGs)
I can provide you however with the artwork (Because 2D artwork is perfectly fine) that was the inspiration for the model. And while the artwork is wonderful it however does little justice to that dress model I once saw that had been tuned to have grit dirt and blood on it and really sold the "run away bride" thing. I can ask around in my 3D communities to see if anyone managed to save the files for it though before it was removed.

Oh yeah and HD Renders are okay as long as they don't modify the models is ANY way. Also "what they look like renders" but that's an iffy grey area and I wouldn't suggest getting into that.
They should totally use this! I'm tired of Claudette getting the short end of the stick, Adam too. Her skins are horrible or mediocre at best

The only "Second Chance" perk I use on either side is Decisive Strike to tell tunnellers what I think of them. That's right! I use DS with it's intended purpose! As killers, we also technically hold the power of the game, since it's largely up to the killer when someone dies.
I'm never really use the whole "git gud" or "apply pressure" as it's advice that's never going to help anyone, but if survivors are dominating a match so badly that you need NoED in order to get kills, then either they're reds with lots of fantastic perks and knowledge against someone's yellow ranks with no level 3 perks, brown and yellow add-ons and a basic understanding of the game, or they're straight up doing something wrong.
Survivors' second chance perks are also all temporary, small and/or ONE USE ONLY. And they're all way more easily counterable. I never have to worry about any of them because of how I play, since I occasionally slug but not very often and only do so tactically in the mid-game, never go after someone that was recently unhooked unless I'm either baiting DS or they do something stupid like a generator in my face and I'll normally slug the stupid, which also counters Borrowed Time, Dead Hard is just an exhaustion perk, and if they bait my swing, they bait my swing. Adrenaline is Sprint Burst at Endgame, and yes they can heal a health state, but that doesn't happen all that often to me. There's usually only one or two people left when it triggers anyway, so it's no big loss to me.

I don't play the killers you listed as having received nerfs to really feel the weight of the changes they received, but I can say that almost every single new killer gets adjusted in some way after release. This is not uncommon, and not a hit to the Killer community, it's meant to provide balance, like every other change in the game. Nurse really needed some changes and from the survivor perspective, she has remained the same in terms of facing her...a bad nurse is easy to escape, but a good nurse is absolutely lethal. I got steam rolled in a random team by a great nurse just the other day. It depends on who is playing her.
Spirit and Oni are also still incredibly powerful. Most matches I have with those two killers in-particular, in random matches, result in a 3-4k, which is not DBDs definition of balance. Although, I'm sure they are competitively matched in other group comps besides random solos. Like Nurse, I also can't agree that DS is weak, especially not a weaker version of Huntress from the survivor perspective. I can dodge a hatchet with ease. I cannot dodge a DS quick scope. If you are aiming down sights, prepare to get juked - but if you can quick scope survivors, there is almost no recourse. Again, a skilled player behind a Deathslinger is a very powerful Killer...one that has an instant shot and doesn't have to divert from a chase to reload, while boasting a tiny omnidirectional terror radius.
I never cared about ruin. Hitting a skill check is not that hard and when you miss it, it allowed for more gen time which was more gen points. So I never even bothered looking for Ruin because it's not difficult to play through. You could have kept your ruin, IMO. But new ruin is still very useful - I've had several matches now with killers running ruin where the totem was significantly well hidden...ruin in end game is super hard to overcome. In addition to the fact that Killers have POP, Thana, Overcharge, etc. to also help slow down gen progression.
If you would like to know why changes seem to sting survivors particularly hard, it is because the game has been continually tuned to help Killers have a more competitive edge against SWF teams, to the detriment of solo survivors. Every change that is meant to slow down or lessen the gap between a good SWF team and a Killer means those slow downs apply individually to solo survivors who don't have the same benefits of a coordinated team as SWF do. So what's a balance change to SWF feels like a nerf to solos. Here are some of the changes solo survivors have felt in the last year:
Windows closed
Less palettes
Less window/palette combinations
Increase in the number of unsafe palettes (+Killer hit priority, this is deadly)
New maps have been quite a bit smaller
More hooks
Hooks closer together
Totems remapped and better hid
EGC (is killer sided)
Hatch changes (are killer sided)
Hooks regen significantly faster
Inability to 99 hooks
Nerf to Insta-Syringe
Nerf to Styptic Agent
Nerf to toolboxes (you can argue they are faster, but the significant reduction in repair amount makes them next to useless when your entire toolbox can be nullified with 1 POP kick)
Nerf to self-care heal time
Nerf to DS selective use
Nerf to leader
Changes to door RNG that place doors closer together, despite EGC
...this is just a few, and doesn't include any of the changes to Killers that were additional and positive, like movement speed increases and the reduction of 'negative side effects' in perks.
Every time a core perk is changed to balance its use in a SWF team...or a loop is closed to stop elongated chases...solo survivors lose their competitive edge. They don't have the same benefits as SWF teams, yet they are expected to play as a team at that level because the game is being balanced to make the SWF/Killer dynamic more even.
Making maps smaller, increasing dead space, reducing palettes further, slowing gen speeds, and taking out every major loop on every legacy map is going to be very interesting for the solo survivor community. I am in the camp that thinks it will probably ruin the solo survivor experience because the solo survivor experience is already difficult, sweaty, and only marginally fun.
I don't begrudge Killers their balance. I understand that SWF is very frustrating - I experience it when I play Killer. I think the game should be balanced and everyone should be able to have fun, competitive game play. But to ignore the solo survivor community - the largest segment of the DBD player base - I think is a misstep. At least an unfortunate step for players like me. I hope they find a way to balance out the two segments within the survivor community too.
This was a very nuanced and empathetic response. I appreciate this. Really. I do hope that your experience is improved as well. It'd take a while and realistically, Behavior would have to take a sledge hammer to this entire game in order to be enjoyable for both parties but it'd be nice if it got there.

I've tried to main spirit for the past month, and imo, she is hard to master. Because you can't see the survivors or their auras while phasing, you need to rely on audio and small details of, for example, grass whilst predicting where the survivor will go.
Though, recently when I played a normal spirit game, I won a really close match with a swf (1 gen left and it was a 16 minute game) and the survivors kept abusing the endgame chat because, and I quote:
"Stop playing such a skilless character and go play a normal killer, you rank 6 boosted ape cun*"
It seems like on the survivor's perspective, spirit is just a free win once you start playing her, not even try to practice. All her add-ons are "op" and her power is "completely broken and needs a rework". I'll be honest, these survivors could lose against any killer because they were ######### around instead of doing their objective and such, so I don't understand, should I not rely on their mistakes and win? Should I just let them leave?
So, my question is, for you, as a player, do you think that spirit is completely skilless? Please let me know down below.
Cheers!
No she isn't "skillless" or "brain dead" while I won't deny that certain killers are more entertaining to go against than others better than others((even this is subjective)), but these buzzwords seem to be thrown around in order to gaslight killers into playing the way their opposition wants them to. You shouldn't feel bad or cheap for any killer, perk, or offering that you use.

I think adding a bit of diversity won't hurt. We already have all kinds of races and personally, if we got an albino survivor (maybe even female) I would 100% main them!
But I would really like to have everyone's opinion.
Cosmetics:
What I hope for in the cosmetic category is for the survivor to embrace their own bit of diversity from the rest of the survivors, meaning that they'll express their self creatively, instead of being a boring Karen with a tee shirt and slacks.
Thanks for reading & please feel free to comment and tell me how you feel about my request.
I'm all for diversity myself. I'd love to see an albino survivor. I'd maybe like to see another black woman and a Native American survivor. As for killers, I'd love for Dead by Daylight to take a risk, give us an inhuman survivor or some other wild idea like Chucky.
