  • Sorry i thought brightburn was the blind mechanic of flashlights that QwQw was saying should be removed.

Buggy matchmaking, ranks are screwed either way as they mostly reflect playtime and not skill, and way too many red rank survs and too few red rank killers. Then there are SWF that either genuinely or purposefully play with high rank disparity which screws rank based matchmaking even more

BHVR has said if it's a swf it only takes into account the highest(or lowest i guess since 1 is lower than 20 but higher rank?) ranking member.

  • flashlights shouldn't be removed, as much as i hate them. They should not counter hag traps though just like toolboxes shouldn't stop trappers traps.

thanks for your detailed explanation, while what you said about most killer is true. people tend to forget that looping is basic of the game as we can compare in the fighting game where block and evade is one of the crucial element of the game.

so 1v1 will always be part of the game in how you escape or evade the killer. In tournament people still can win or lose depending on the teams but some rules apply on tournament on what can you bring or which perk you cant use and so on.

while i agree that spirit can still lose but OP or not is not based on whether she still can lose

I believe there are a few killers you can't loop easily - Deathslinger is tough on most, nurse, doctor is tough if skilled just as spirit, huntress....

  • @DemonDaddy said:

I'd take the numbers loosely. I've had plenty of games were Survivors threw the escape to intentionally die. Just personally I have been killed several times when escape was possible but decided to go for a higher risk play.

Ultimately just stating that not every kill is because the killer is performing well or reflect context of events.

I agree but that goes both ways. I used to let survivors go all the time, 4k was a rare thing for me just because i liked to let grandpa go or the shirtless guy who is ripped. I stopped because of rampant tbagging at pallets which i don't really understand or the little circle thing survivors do but whatever, makes my life easier in downing them and every dropped pallet just helps me. Some killers like to depip as well to get out of red ranks. Either way it would be interesting to see the data.

  • I wonder if killers would have a better experience if they balanced the game around escape rates instead of kill rates. There are more survivors and it seems there would also be more data. Maybe the killer experience would improve and there would be more killer players.

  • tactics against a swf vs 2-4 solo survivors are different. They have comms, let me know if they are a swf or not.

  • I hear sadly that a lot of killers quit because of the toxic survivors once you hit red ranks. It's just not fun for those who get bullied. I just had a match where i got 4k and the survivors where upset because i tunneled 2 people out. Truth was they kept unhooking each other so they were the 2 i saw, i went for the unhooker and during chases, every time they dropped a pallet they wanted to tbag and spin instead of gain ground. It was an easy game for me but I can see how a lot of killers would have a bad experience.

It also shows which side is easier to play and which side is more fun to play. If it was the opposite then queue times would be long for the killers. People want success and for most people survivor is easier to be successful on.

  • I'm sorry sir. On the plus side, no one will see you sad in your locker. :P

  • I saw some scratched mirror videos on youtube and kind of wanted to play him. maybe that's why?

  • you 1 upped me. I'm mad i didn't think of that.

  • Dwight takes no skill.

  • Best designed for me not based on strength is probably clown, i love his laugh and appearance, i also love the idea of his bottles but they should be separate count, poison and antidote.

Worst - Ghostface or any stealth killer only because spinechill wrecks their entire premise which to me is just broken.

I've been playing twins lately and i'm having a blast! I think victor's respawn time needs to be lengthened by at least 20 seconds if he is kicked though, right now i really don't care if he is squished. They are definately very strong killers. Why all the hate for them though?

Well then your clearly not very good at the game are you. Anyone who uses NOED is planning for failure and I don't respect that, the goal of the killer is to stop generators being done and killing the survivors in the process not letting every generator get done and then quickly killing everyone. Also totems aren't really a counter for NOED because not many people are gonna spend all game looking for totems and find them all while doing the generators. The fact that you use NOED makes you think you are around rank 13 - 20 and you only started playing the game a couple months ago.

No i'm pretty terrible at the game. I did hit rank 1 but that was mostly tunneling, camping and slugging. Recently i switched to twins to make that so much easier but since victor can't use noed i switched it out for tinkerer, the new toxic perk. When i need a break from twins i switch to my stridor spirit or freddy.

I mean some stuff is pretty overpowered though you have to admit, for example Iridescent Head and NOED. When it comes to killers I think the killers are either pretty balanced or underpowered. When it comes to toxicity I don't think using Iri Head or NOED makes you toxic it depends on how you use them although I have little respect for anyone that uses NOED because to me it shows that you are planning for every generator to be popped which is planning for failure.

I love NOED and i run it when i see 2+ toolboxes. It's very balanced since survivors can counter it in 2 ways, 1 adrenaline, 2 totems.

  • He needs something to make him interesting to play for both sides. He is just so boring. I didn't get the chance to play him on release, wish i did.

It's not my approved list lol there are just some things that are more overpowered than others. Freddy for example has a 75% kill rate in the average red rank game. Meaning that even an average Freddy will get 3 out of 4 kills in a typical red rank game. Most people don't play Freddy because he's that fun, he's objectively unfun having an uncomplicated kit, they play him because they know they can get 3/4 kills every game especially with builds that make it even harder to play against. Those people are toxic, specifically going out of their way to ruin games and not even have any fun in the process, do you not agree with that?

Ok i didn't think this was a bait post until you said, and i'm paraphrasing here, 'Most freddy players are toxic because they are playing freddy"

Nice job with the post though, you got me for a sec.

I run similar build on Doctor. Corrupt + Surge + Whispers + BBQ.

I did like PGTW, but the time to go kick took away from chases.

Cool games though! Does NOED work with legions feral frenzy?

    no

  • @showstopper said:

rank 8 atm, been going up against a lot of clowns.

That really surprises me. Are they winning?

  • Is it toxic or just a lot of really thin skinned people as far as gameplay goes? I think it's the latter.

In my opinion the developers did encourage the toxicity initially by not providing filters in chat but mechanics will always be abused regardless.

An example is there isn't a good/friendly reporting system i'm aware of. Overwatch was toxic when it first came out, devs there added a mechanism to easily report game chat and took it seriously, now it's not as toxic or so i hear. I haven't played in awhile.

Early on in Dbd it just felt like the devs here encouraged that toxicity and here we are. So for me, that is where their responsibility for this atmosphere lies.

I played Friday the 13th which is similar and shamefully now dead but it's community was fun. The atmosphere was different, it was actually enjoyable for everyone. The difference with that I think is it wasn't competitive, no ranks, no consequences per se, just a group of gamers having a good time.

  • I think we could base our answer on the number of Spirit threads.

  • I'm just glad he's easy to play. This means more survivors will switch to killer.

  • Do you wait at the exit gate for the tbag with victor and get the free kill they give us?

  • OH we can make this an awesome thread!!! Change the title to something that makes sense and we can put the dumbest things we've had censored.

It would be great if BHVR created some funnier cosmetics for Killers.

    • Bumblebee outfit for Hag, or Las Vegas showgirl
    • Disco Doctor. He can look like Elton John circa 1970's.
    • Adult Baby Trapper
    • Charlotte can be dressed like a chef, and Victor running around in a little Lobster costume.

    The possibilities are endless.

I like you. You make me laugh. If i see you in game i won't kill you on purpose.

  • @WiiFitTrainer said:

Other than how janky it feels to switch to/from victor, they're in a good spot imo.

Victor can be dodged quite easily around short obstacles quite easily.

People get mad at twins because they don't play like other killers (i.e. can't be looped over and over again similar to nurse). And there are the people who abuse how easy it is to camp and tunnel...

Camping is the playstyle though. Victor on or near hook, sis walking around chasing off gens. That is literally their playstyle and how they get pressure. Yes victor is fast but he is one and done most of the time, very clunky to use, lag misses, hits invisible corners, gets stuck on top of things and dies randomly....They are a very strong killer though even after the nerf. I would say S tier for my playstyle. As more people realize this there will be more players using them. I am finding that i'm more oppressive with Twins than with Spirit.

  • Survivor unhooks lately have just been horrible. These goofballs love to unhook right in front of me and give me lots of free hits. After a few seconds wait of course.

  • I think it's hilarious that survivors have complained about slugging and camping for a very long time and BHVR's answer is the Twins. I enjoy playing them, just got called a try hard in my last game and honestly it was just an easy 4k. I wasn't trying all that hard at all. Had a good time.

  • I'm curious what killer the OP plays. I've started using the twins and victor is great on indoor maps

  • Spirit and Nurse are related through Nurse's sisters fathers second cousin on her moms side, his name was Larry.

  • Victor has helped me get a few end game kills thanks to those big brained plays. Don't discourage it!!! Also, when you 4k as killer make sure to pick up the last survivor and drop them a few times on the way to hook if it's close. That's the killer dance.

  • Theme park would be really cool.

    Huge mall would be neat.

Strip club with an attached daycare for the single moms.

Edit: any Smithsonian museum or government building like congress.

  • @AVoiceOfReason said:

Its not gen rush, its a lack of pressure. People need to stop over commiting on one survivor then get mad when all the gens are done. You never stopped and checked on the gens that are actively being worked on. What, you think survivor's magically stop doing the objective just because you are chasing someone? Come on, People. Break off and check gens.

Spoken like a true survivor. You can't get pressure on a swf with comms. 'He's over here, ok work the gen'. Oh he overcommited he was only supposed to chase for 10 seconds then run to the next gen to get 'pressure' and chase him for 10 seconds while the guy you just left goes back to the gen. "Well you need to end chases quickly". I do a lot of times only to hear "waa your spirit is OP cheating nerf her waaa". Ok.

Edit: You know what brings great pressure against altruistic groups? Camping and tunneling. Brings great pressure.

  • You can't balance a killer around the top 10% of players.

  • Give her a phasing sound but make it so she can phase through things as well. Also give survivors a red light, remove the effect of spinechill if a killer is stealth like ghostface, show the killer a timer for DS and other second chance perks.

  • Deathslinger. I can get hits but reeling them in over objects is a pain. They usually get away.

If she’s standing still at the other end of the pallet and you leave the loop, she can just follow your scratch marks and sounds while you have no idea what she’s doing. She moves at 176% by default when in her power and her power lasts for 5 seconds so she has plenty of time and movement to consistently catch you while there’s nothing you can do except maybe try to throw her off a bit. That hardly ever works against good Spirits though.

You want an 'I win' button. There isn't one for any killer. How do you counter a good nurse? You don't really.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2234019#Comment_2234019

That's actually really good advice thank you. Unlike @Lucent's comment....

Um that was my comment also. But you are correct, there was no cause for rudeness. I fixed it for you.

  • It's not a perk. I play her on occasion and people always try to mind game. Don't. If she is standing still on the other side of a pallet run away to the next loop. Learn to double back on scratch marks as well. If you are protecting someone just run across their scratch marks. Also if she is standing still, drop pallets early.

  • The issue is you are not knowledgable about her counters. She is simple to play and simple to counter.

  • Tell me why I should care about the points? I'm not being toxic, they just don't matter to me. They mean nothing. Ooh you're red rank, who cares? Matchmaking is so messed up anyway. My fun is killing survivors or watching a good team help them escape. I'll camp the last hook, tunnel out a key or faced with a choice of 2 survivors i'll target the one on death hook or injured because it makes my task easier. I'm not here to protect gens, i'm here to hook you and kill you. It's been said before but I'm not responsible for your fun only mine and sometimes it's just a silly challenge rewarding me for bad tasks.

Oh and it's more fun being toxic than receiving toxicity. Of course I'm only toxic when I get a flashlight clicker or tea bagger who thinks it's smart to do it right after a pallet drop.

  • Oh i thought they got extra points. Thanks, i'll just start slugging now.

  • Make survivors find parts to complete a gen. When all parts are found one survivor can build and the others hunt for the next parts or something.

  • @BrokenSouI said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/249395/why-do-you-love-spirit

There is no counter play. And it's a trick question. No one likes spirit

I feel like the people who like Spirit are being shamed into silence or into playing other characters. With all the posts it is beginning to feel similar to survivors shaming over NOED.

  • I was the killer in a match just now and I recieved the network error. My internet did not go down, i restarted my game and now i'm locked for 30 minutes....

  • @RiskyKara said:

I play Spirit when I want to actually feel good instead of getting t-bagged to ######### after failing chases on Pig. I'm not good at this game, but Spirit makes me feel like I'm actually a killer.

    I understand completely.

  • But Charlotte was punished because of body blocking. Is it only killers that 'abuse' it?

  • I run NOED and Blood warden on any killer just as an endgame build. Not always but when i want something different. Surely everyone else gets bored running the same old stuff over and over? It really has nothing to do with skill and everything to do with how i feel like playing at the time.

As a sidenote there are quite a few times where it doesn't even come into play, I accidentally down everyone before endgame. In chat survivors always make sure to point out that i'm running it though, like it mattered.

  • It should be played however someone wants to play it. There are no rules and you don't get to dictate play style...
