There is no guarantee of that. And popping a Gen is just setting back progress while a survivor is closer to dying. You also can't ensure that another survivor is going to rescue the hooked while you sit popping gens and if you expect to unhook them yourself after popping the Gen the killer is most likely going to be in your immediate area for popping the Gen.. The focus needs to be having the killer choose a random direction to search for survivors and leave the hook. Idk why there needs to be an unhooked audible notification anyway.

Also, your post highlights the fact that much of what happens in this game is left to chance. Should I stay on this gen or go for a rescue. It's all about risk vs reward. It sounds like you want there to be more of a guarantee that survivors can pull of their moves. What does that mean for killer then?

I am only speaking from my own experience in dealing with camping killers. Also, I don't think camping happens that often to warrant extending hook time.

There are people who seriously think like this though.

People that think everyone playing Survivor just whines and complains if they don't win and people that think everyone playing Killer just whines and complains if they don't win.

I'm pretty sure this thread is gonna start a few arguments before the hour is up.

Only people who read this forum think that.

Most of the time when I get accused of tunneling, it's because the survivors made a bad play/decision and I didn't give them a free pass.

Don't work on a gen while injured next to a healthy teammate if you aren't ok with being put right back on the hook.

For the love of god, don't stay in the basement alone and injured without DS.

When you unhook someone, you need to escort them out of there. Don't unhook them and pull a Houdini so I only see the person that just got saved. I don't have time to look for someone else.

And if there are 2 people left in a game, are we really splitting hairs about tunneling at that point?

OMG, yes on that last paragraph! Also, if you're in EGC and you hook someone is it really camping at that point? I'm not going to walk to the other side of the map when there's other survivors and an open gate near the hook.

  • @24Life said:

I think a better way to discourage camping, tunneling hooked-unhooked survivors would be to make the phase times longer on the hooks. If a killer knew the other survivors were less likely to leave gens for a hooked teammate so quickly the focus for the killer would switch to leaving the occupied hook and searching out other survivors.

The problem isn't the hook timer, It's fact that the other survivors are immediately running for the hook and abandoning gens. If they would stay on the gens until they pop, that would draw the killer away allowing for a safe rescue.

Because people need to stop being snowflakes and thicken their skin. It's just words. We don't need language policing. People should be able to say whatever they want to say.

This is the argument I see from people who think they have the right to be as abusive as they want to others. The person who is being abused is in the wrong. Maybe the abuser should just start being a decent human being. . .

I run WGLF on most of my builds. But i make sure to pair it with Borrowed time. Its all but guaranteed to get a stack with it.

Yes! That is a great and very viable option. But a lot of new players don't have access to that perk immediately. Using the new Styptic Agent or Anti-Hemmhorage syringe also works!

  • @DocOnLoose said:

Basically: play with WGLF as you would without it.

Yes. But instead of only saying "Don't pull me off a hook in front of the killer!" I thought I'd give some advice.

  • @sobrat1 said:

Basically you're saying: Have some good sense.

Pretty much. Some people need a detailed explanation of that though.

  • @FearlessHunter said:

I've said this a thousand times till I'm blue in the face.

All killer players who do not stand in the corner of the map should be instantly banned by the devs. It would balance the game so much. :)

Actually, I think it would help more if the devs made it so the killers can work on the gens for the survivors. THEN the game will finally be balanced. Have you not noticed how LOOOONG it takes to complete gens?!?!?

  • @darktrix said:

Way too many variables with regards to what is tunneling or not to make a useful comment on the whole.

Tunneling to me is when the killer consciously gives up his current activity of being in a chase to pursue and unhook, or proxy camps the hook waiting for the noise indicator to go off so they can rush back (very quickly for certain killers even if there is no terror radius to be heard) in order to go after the injured.

So I'll give you this question - when killers state tunneling is a strategy and actively engage that strategy - why would you think it is the survivor's fault? Just leave the survivor on the hook to die is not a great option.

Now if get hook farmed that is another story - but then the killer is complicit in that as well. They are basically working with the hook farmer when the honorable thing would be to end that hook farmer for good.

So I do believe your example of tunneling is actual tunneling which would not be survivors' fault. I'm talking about doing an unsafe unhook which leads to what many consider tunneling, but my OP argues isn't really tunneling just an unfortunate situation for the hooked survivor.

Now the part of your response that addresses leaving the survivor on hook to die is really more about camping. If the killer is camping the other survivors should pop a gen or two which will usually cause the killer to leave and you can now rescue the survivor.

I'm more addressing the situation where a survivor runs up and unhooks immediately after the killer hooks (not camping), or after the killer has left to explore another part of the map and swings back by the hook heading to another part of the map (also not camping.)

Couple days ago I was doing Wraith daily and loaded into Thompsons house where cow tree spawned on shack side so it was 100% loss for me as I play "fair". 2 survivors still dc'ed as I slugged them instead of tunneling and eating their ds so there is no limit to some survivors entitlement.

So what I hear you saying is Wraith is the new Freddy? Better NERF HIM NOW!!! Lol

  • @TheKingOfAll said:

If you punish disconnecting, people will just stand still and then kill themselves on the hook. You can never make a person play a game when they don’t want to. It’s very childish to dc, but the only way to stop the disconnecting is fixing the reason for dcing, which sometimes people just dc for no real reason. It’s sad

And then killers will just start slugging people. Can't suicide on hook if you're not on a hook. Then you can DC and get punished. That *might* make people start actually playing even if they think that particular match is arbitrarily unfun.

  • @CakeDuty said:

I don't mind Freddy. Never DC'd against him, but I find the "Forever Freddy" build to be extremely boring to go against. Pop, Ruin, Thana and Dying Light (most of the time one of these are replaced with BBQ so he can locate which gens are been worked on) with slowdown addons. He can remove any progress you've made everytime he downs a survivor and it takes forever for you to get the gen back to where it originally was. Meanwhile he can spam his snares midchase without any cooldown or he can put 10 pallets on a map, it's hard to tell which ones are real unless you just were put to sleep.

I don't think Freddy is OP or should be nerfed in any way, but I along with most people think that Freddy with all slowdown perks/addons is extremely boring to go against. Holding M1 is the most boring part of the game after all.

I think that's fair. But I believe those bulids are only run rarely. I don't run that sort of overkill slowdown build and I rarely run into a Freddy running that type of build as survivor.

The problem is people are DC'ing before they can possibly know that type of build is being run. It would be different if people were giving up 40 min into a match because they can't get any objectives done. That's not what's happening. The vast majority of Freddy's don't run those builds because they know people will quit against them.

  • I play both sides and I don't run DS because killers find it annoying and I want them to have a good experience. I figure since I play by "survivor rules" as killer it's only fair to be nice to the other side too. I'm assuming I'm in an incredibly small minority here. :)

  • @Raidoku said:

Im a  rank 1 survivor I mainly play swf I just feel like the game is balanced if you have ruin and some other good perks as killer your chances to win are 95% so the fact that killers can control the game in a way where all can get max points they should take the time and think like an actual killer no killer kills their prey right away only murders do that and last time I checked its play as survivor or KILLER ?️

"No killer kills their prey right away." What? Have you ever seen a horror movie? Maybe they don't kill the "final girl" right away because there needs to be a plot, but everyone else is mostly there for the body count once the killing starts.

Can we just have one killer who specializes in Slowdown please? Just one.

Like genuinely slowdown the game if you stay in his world.

This is Freddy Krueger we're talking about. The Dream World is his world. So of course he would do something like slowing down generator repairs.

Freddy is not even anti-loop. His snares and pallets are great but they are nowhere near overpowered.

I just.. I'm desperate because I don't want him to be nerfed. I love playing as him too much.

I'm with you! The dream world mechanic is one of the most unique things in this game. There is no reason people can't deal with an occasional slowed down match.

  • I am a rank 14 killer. Not super great! Only occasionally get 4k.

  • This is what I gather from the posts voicing the survivor opinion. Maybe I'm wrong but. .

    1. Survivors didn't like Freddy's slowdown mechanic so they complained until it got changed.

    2. Freddy was changed but the devs left the slowdown option as add-ons. (The slowdown makes sense for the killer. Things in dreams don't behave the same in real life.)

    3. Survivors told devs they didn't like slowdown but the devs still made it available. Now survivors must circumvent devs and punish killers who use those add-ons by DC'ing from match because devs didn't 100% meet their demands.

    Am I missing anything?

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Depends how you play your Freddy. If you are that kind of guy who uses Paint Brush and Swing Chains or Swing Chains and Jump Rope, compared with all the Slowdown Perk, it is not about the actual Strength of the Killer, more about how annoying it is to go against.

From my experience, people have not that much of a problem vs Freddy. However, if Freddy is using all this Slowdown-Stuff, it is highly annoying to play against him and then I see people DC. And Freddy is so much more than just massive Slowdown.

If you were using a normal Build, I dont know. Might be coincidence.

This is the problem with the survivor mentality in this community. Every killer has builds that are annoying. That's no excuse to DC and this is why there needs to be a punishment for people who DC because they don't want to be "annoyed" by something in a match.

Do you not think facing a bunch of survivors with DS isn't annoying for killers? How do you think the survivor community would react if killers started DC'ing as soon as a survivor used DS?

  • I use the 60 seconds to pray that no survivors DC during the upcoming match.

  • @Objectively_speaking said:

"Fixed and issue that caused the Nightmare to not lose bloodlust in a chase while placing dream snares."

It's not a Nerf if they're fixing a mechanic that's not working correctly.

  • I fully believe that camping is viable in certain circumstances and have defended this in endgame chat. I would have done it in this circumstance.

It's very annoying to me how often killers play by the polite rules survivors have made up only to have them turn around and pull toxic stuff like this. You had the courtesy to give up defending a main objective. They should have shown the courtesy of not using a key. Just another example of entitled survivors.

first of I’m really bad at this game but it’s a thrill when I kill a survivor and I know it sucks to die to a killer but why do people have to go out of their way to send them a message (on Xbox) saying all sorts of profanity why can’t they just move on play the next game and just forget about it i haven’t been on this game long so Ia the community that bad?

There are a lot of really good people in this community and there are some really petty sore losers. I would report people who are being abusive. I've even started recording my matches so I have proof if need be.

But honestly I generally try to ignore it, esp in end game chat. If people are being toxic I just say "gg" and leave it at that. As an added bonus that usually drives them more crazy than anything that happened in the match. ?

  • @luvcraft said:

This is totally not a hill I'm willing to die on, but it's something that continuously bugs me, so I'm bringing it up here:

Clown and Legion don't match their themes.

I think everyone knew a clown character was coming eventually, and was looking forward to something along the lines of Pennywise or classic Joker, carrying a giant mallet, and probably incorporating balloons, or maybe forcing survivors to laugh a'la Doctor's screams. The actual clown being a tubercular fat man with a pocket knife who throws smoke bombs and collects fingers is a little confusing. I think in a perfect world this character would be renamed to something else, and the moniker "Clown" would be reused later for a more Clown-like killer (or literally Pennywise who's probably coming out in a month or two given DBD's stellar track record for licensed characters).

Legion was clearly a quick win to reuse assets from Deathgarden to make a new killer, but it seems half-baked. The entire theme is that Legion is a gang along the lines of "Them", but you only ever see one member at a time. Obviously it would be way too much work to try to have the killer player control multiple characters at once, but even having other gang members passively watching the match from the sidelines would help a lot thematically. Even better would be to let the killer "tag in" other gang members for some benefit, contributing to the conceit that they're a gang working together even though the player only controls one of them at a time.

Anyway, thanks for reading my most pedantic complaint about DBD.

You don't find a heavy breathing clown who cuts off fingers and licks them clean to be creepy??? Keep in mind not all killer clowns are over the top and fanciful. Take real life serial killer John Wayne Gacy for example.

Was just a joke, no one in their right mind would spend 70$ for the Rift. But honestly, does BHVR need to wring us out more? The game costs 20$, all the DLC including cosmetic packs but excluding Charity Case costs $96.84 plus tax if you don't want to add more grinding for Iridescent Shards, the Rift costs $10, including all the cosmetics in the store, with over half of them being available solely for Auric Cells. If you want everything that effects gameplay unlocked from the start it will cost you about $116.84 without tax. This is a tad bit ridiculous, you could get 2 fully fledged AAA game instead of buying everything in DBD. It gets even worse, with the cosmetics in the store that are only available for Auric Cells it comes out to a whopping $993. JESUS. I got this number by converting every 100 Auric Cells into $1 and rounding accordingly, so you may get a slightly higher or lower number, but the fact that there are almost $1000 dollars worth of cosmetics that can only be bought with real money seems REALLY scummy and cash grabby.

Sorry, but I don't think you're being realistic with your numbers. You are assuming every copy of the game and all DLC were purchased at full price. I can tell you all of mine were purchased on sale. And yes, I still haven't purchased Stranger Things b/c I'm waiting for it to go on sale.

Also, who are these people that you think are buying EVERY cosmetic?!?!? Maybe a few people do but seriously, most do not. Cosmetics are there for people who play the game a lot and want to personalize their favorite characters. Yeah, some of them are pricey but they are icing on the cake. This idea that BHVR is gouging every fan to the tune of $1000 does not hold water.

  • I just had a visual of Nea running around in flames. It made me smile.

  • My "Farmer John" survivor build:

    Bond

    Prove Thyself

    We're Gonna Live Forever

    Small Game

Here's how I play with it. My main focus is finding and breaking totems. If I see another survivor on a gen I join them to get the Prove Thyself boosts. If someone gets hooked I rescue them unless Bond shows me another survivor is going to beat me to it. Depending on my and other survivors' hook state I will take a hit for someone when safe to do so for WGLF stacks. This works really well for racking up BP as survivor.

  • @snowflake102 said:

I believe I read somewhere that rank resets happen on the 13th of every month.

  • @UrbanChaos45 said:

I kinda don't think we'll get one because they had a struggle with this halloween event that is currently going on until the 13th of November.

I'd love a Xmas event but since there was no summer event and the halloween event was an issue i don't see it happening, All I see them doing is giving us the xmas sweaters again as well as new ones.

it will be during chapter 14 I believe

I don't know that we can assume the event was what they struggled with. There was an update to the game engine and the dev posts I saw seemed to hint that may have been more of the issue.

  • @Dreamnomad said:

I'm less concerned about a secondary effect than I am with the discrepancy between how easy it is for killers to earn their 100% bloodpoint bonus compared to survivors. There is a very simple solution to this. Survivors should gain tokens for doing the thing they need to escape. IE doing generators. WGLF should give 1 token per gen completed and each token should give 10/15/20% bonus to all bloodpoints earned.

I don't disagree that BBQ stacks seem to be easier to get than WGLF. However, I've recently started to step up my end-game altruism and that's helped. I'm a rank 14 survivor, so hardly an expert. I've only recently started to be more adventurous in trying to save people during EGC. I think this is the best time to get WGLF stacks. Getting a safe hook rescue and taking a hit for someone can get half of your stacks taken care of very quickly.

I'm starting to think people who run this perk are focusing too much on the safe unhook and not enough on taking a hit. You need to be able to do both effectively to use WGLF to it's full potential. I'm saying this from my personal experience.

Congratulations for being the sort of player most gaming developers would love to have.

As for the Rift. If it wasn't meant to squeeze anyone attempting to complete it dry, Behavior wouldn't have introduced a way for players to buy tiers for real money. That decision alone shows exactly what their intention was.

Welcome to life. I don't mean that to be mocking. The idea of paying your way through things is pervasive all around. Want to sit in the best seats at a concert? Pay an extra $1,000! Want to skip the line at an amusement park? Pay extra for a fast pass! Heck even pizza places now let you pay extra for "priority delivery."

  • Personally, I think it's too early to make that judgement. We still have 64 days left in the rift. I bought the rift pass fully understanding I prob won't compete the whole thing. I should at least be on track to finish half of it which will mean:

    Unlocked Nurse Blight Cosmetic

Unlock one other Blight Cosmetic from serum

    Earn back 500 AC

Earn numerous other cosmetics & charms

In the end if I get all of that for an overall cost of $5 (factoring in earned AC) I think the rift pass will be providing a ton of value for the price.

  • I think it might be better to change up the whole Bloodpoint multiplier system for killers and survivors. I think they could do something based on how they have the current blight event bonus points.

I say every match has four "multiplier" gens and four hooks. When a gen is completed, each living survivor gets a 25% bonus stack. Same goes for killer hooks except maybe that specific hook deactivates after use, so slightly different from blight hooks.

This would free up a perk slot that people currently use for a farming perk. Devs could rework BBQ & WGLF. This would open the door for more variety in builds and offer BP bonuses that still require some work to get.

  • @arslaN said:

What's the point of playing dbd or any other game if it isn't supposed to be fun?

I don't know what your matches have been like lately, but it seems to be a growing problem that really can ruin things for everyone else.

To everyone who chose to personally insult me, thank you for showing the rest of us who the toxic people are. It's nice to see they really are a small minority.

Just to clarify, I don't define winning as having fun. I did acknowledge that it can be irritating to lose many matches in a row. My post was merely meant to inspire those who do define winning = fun to maybe look at the game from a different viewpoint.

Just because it might be confusing: The Tomes still stay active and can be completed. But you get access to new Challenges in this Time Period.

    Thanks for clarifying! ?

  • Devs stated in another post that lvl 2 comes out 2 weeks after event start, lvl 3 2 weeks after that and lvl 4 3 weeks after that.

Since we know event lasts 10 weeks it means you have 2 weeks each for the first 2 tomes and 3 weeks each for the last 2 tomes.

Games should be fun. That's the point. People aren't going to play if they're not having fun.

The problem I have when I play survivor isn't that some matches aren't fun; it's that 99% of matches aren't fun. I don't expect to escape, but I'd like to get a chance to participate. Can't really even get better if I don't get a chance to play.

Killer is stressful, which is why I usually meme around rather than play seriously and try to sacrifice anyone. Playing I'm-a-survivor-too Pig or guarding-the-basement-chest Spirit is often just more fun, which like I said, is the point of playing a game. There's plenty of other stuff to do in life if I don't want to have fun.

May I ask what rank you are? I had the same problem early on of always getting caught right away. I had to start playing super stealthy and ran certain perks until I got used to where and when I could be more daring.

I'm at around 400 hrs now (50/50 surv/killer) and I'm just starting to get where I can safely rescue survivors during EGC. If you'd like I can share some specific tips that helped me out.

I know it’s part of your job to have a formal response like this,

but everyone who play this game knows that BHVR set the DC punishment bar skyrocketed high, nothing is gonna happen if they don’t reach a certain threshold.

Hell people can probably dc 30% of their game on a Daily Basis and have no punishment whatsoever.

in fact, they benefited from it because that pisses off killers (killers get depip or no rank progress) which is what they want.

according to a lot of survivors on this forum. BHVR might nerf killers if people dc against a certain killer too often too.

so please stop, this is the worst thing you can say to the community,

we almost lost hope to the dc punishment

I've also seen posts here within the last week where people openly talk about when they think it's acceptable to DC and those posts are allowed to stay up. If they really intended to punish DC's why would they allow posts that encourage DC'ing to stay up?

I agree with this. It's hard to believe that the DC punishment threshold is not ridiculously high considering BHVR only ever gives vague answers like "if they DC enough."

If it was something reasonable, one would think they'd have no problem telling us what the threshold is.
