@ImmersedNurse is exactly right. Staying and struggling for as long as you can while your team does gens is the only way to train killers not to camp. If you DC or suicide on hook they will think their strategy of camping works. Yes, this means staying in the match for a couple extra minutes that you may not consider fun.
People have to understand that the no camping/tunneling thing is a rule made up by the community. The devs have done plenty considering they view this as an acceptable strategy. They've made the scoring system punish campers and also have put out several perks to make it less desirable.
In the end it's a community rule that the community will have to respond to. So just suck it up and stay on the hook. Asymmetrical vs games are not designed for each individual to always have "fun." Remember, your fun always means the other side is having less fun. If you want to always have fun play a single player game.

The levels unlock one by one. Two weeks, two weeks, and then three weeks.
Forgive me if this was already discussed but do you have to complete all of Tome 1 before you can activate challenges on the next tome? Thanks

The original Halloween from 1978, it's a yearly watch for me along with Halloween 4, wouldn't be Halloween without them. Other good horror films I watched are Friday the 13th part 2, part 3, part 4, and part 6. Also Scream, Scream 2, and Scream 3.
All great films. If you're a Friday the 13th fan, I highly recommend listening to the podcast "In Vorhees we Trust with Gourley and Rust." I rewatched the entire series so I could listen to their commentary and it is pure gold! They are doing a series on the Halloween films now on Stitcher premium.

Of course, but somewhere out there there would be people and fans like me, Laurie was and spent more time in a hospital gown then Michael did, i know the devs have struggled and people wanted skins but leave it as it is.
We still could get Laurie in a hospital gown. I do understand your feelings on the matter. Unfortunately Pandora's box has been opened and we can never go back to the world we knew before.

sighs sorry Guys and fans and people making jokes etc, i just feel like the devs have made a mockery now of MM.....maybe less scarey and joking and remember it IS a horror game....
I don't know. I don't think the hospital gown is necessarily less scary. A lot of people get freaked out by hospitals. Also, the Halloween theme itself is terrifying and that's a huge part of the matches against him.
I mean, you had to know that posting that pic on this forum would inevitably go south very quickly. Just like my eyes! See it's just too hard to pass up.

Also, I don't think you have to worry about attracting attention of any Myers mains. They are all freaking out because Evil Within 1 now triggers Spine Chill.

THAT ISN'T THE POINT. Its beyond insane that people are still saying git gud to this. This is the empathy disconnect. You bringing up legion really confirms it lol
Try actually understanding what I'm saying and where I'm coming from before you try and rebut it.

Point is, it's not about them being hard. They not hard. It's just way too many conditions should be fulfilled for you to complete them. And you can't fulfill these conditions by yourself only.
I mean, if it said "run from killer for amount 2 mins in one trial" - it would be hard.
But it says some ######### like "unhook 3 survs in endgame in one trial" - its requred:
1) You to be alive at this point, which is challenge itself.
2) Atleast 2 other survs to be alive at this point, since you can unhook every surv twice.
3) They also shouldn't be dead on hooks.
4) If killer was nearby, you also need to lose the killer (quick reminder - you still in EGC), but without escaping to the gates, because you need more unhooks (dependand of how many unhooks you did already).
5) Other survs shouldn't escape from trial right away, they should be hooked for you to get to it. Count how many times after someone opened the gate they didn't escape right away? Or, atleast didn't stay at the gate? Like, think about it: they should be really good to stay alive at the end, but bad enough to be downed during EGC. That's mutually exclusive.
6) You need to do every unhook safely. Which most likely requres BT, since killer will camp, cuz gates are open.
7) You need to dodge NOED and Blood warden.
TL;DR It's really, REALLY hard!
(I'm just teasing you. Sorry, I couldn't resist!)

... dude what? Its for sure bhvrs fault lol nobody is making them fund deathgarden with dbd money. You have a very warped understanding of capitalism.
Blame the morons who support this battlepass, not capitalism.
I'm pretty sure I understand capitalism. Us "morons" who bought the battle pass generate capital for BHVR. If it generates enough revenue they will continue to offer a premium option. If people don't support it and revenue is not generated they prob won't offer them. Capitalism! ;)

Try empathizing a little. A beloved mid tier killer is nerfed (however slightly in your mind) to maintain consistency with his replacement. Now he has all of the weaknesses of the other stealth killers ON TOP OF HIS OWN BUILT IN LIMITATIONS.
Currently gf is basically a strictly better myers. Slightly less snowball, none of the downsides.
Yes some people are overreacting but this is an unnecessary change that makes a weak killer weaker. he's no legion but he's on his way to being a shittier pig.
It's not that I'm not empathetic. I think it's all relative to be honest. I've still been doing fine with Myers. Also, I am more successful with Legion than most killers.
I also don't think Spine Chill is going to become meta. I think it's a perk that some people love and swear by but it's one of the harder ones to get used to using effectively in my experience. I honestly think most people would rather use the perk slot for something else.

Not RE. Not in terms of keeping true to the source material.
You could make an argument for Silent Hill. The director for that film loved the game and wanted to be faithful to it.
But for these small examples many video gake movies have been dumpster fires on wheels.
You're not wrong! Although a DBD movie would have to stray from the source material. Who would want to watch generators being repaired for two straight hours. ;)

Yes! Then good pick! I had nightmares for weeks.
Knowing that somewhere out in the world there exists a human being, that at some point in that film making process, said "yes, this film is ready to be released and I am willing to PAY to have it made!"
Scary thought....
Well it was the 70's, a decade known for questionable choices. Just look at the fashion!

They don't. They pull you in with easy challenges that make decent Rift progression, and then they throw these impossible challenges at you.
The point is that you feel invested enough in the Rift and frustrated enough with the BS Challenges and the 1 Rift Shard every 800 XP to buy Rift skips.
It's all made to manipulate you into spending more. 🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑

I find these changes extremely disappointing. Myers has been my favorite killer for almost 2 years, and Scratched mirror was my favorite build. I don’t understand how some people don’t get how bad these changes hurt him if people are actually running those perks. He’s the second slowest killer in the game, and he has virtually no lunge. He was already, by far, the easiest killer in the game to loop. His ability to remain undetected was the ONLY thing that gave him an edge.
In my experience, spine chill is a pretty common perk. Also, I would love for somebody to explain how ruin is supposed to be a “crutch” perk when survivors smash through the gens within 5-7 mins if you don’t take it? Especially on low-mid tier killers. I mean, are you supposed to be a bad killer if you can’t snowball and win the match within the first few minutes on any given killer against any given team, or what?? I would love it if the game was in a state that didn’t require killers to choose between taking ruin/corrupt intervention, and getting gen rushed.
I just don’t understand the logic. Ruin/NOED are crutch perks. While Adrenaline, DS, Borrowed time, and Dead hard being the meta is perfectly fine. They are the 4 most commonly run perks IN THE GAME, bar none. Being given chance after chance after chance that you wouldn’t normally have without them, somehow isn’t a crutch? Please.
So if Adrenaline, DS, BT, and Dead Hard are the survivor meta perks then why is everyone freaking out over Spine Chill? I still, for the life of me cannot figure this out.

When I get called a tunnel because somebody just happened to die early it's very frustrating.
Especially when I went out of my way to not chase people for freshly off hook.
Despite the fact I even ignored a bill who just got off the hook despite him constantly trying to body block me to chase his rescuer.
However in their opinion Tapp died too quickly so that means I'm automatically a tunneler.
No had nothing to do with the fact that the Tapp was bad or was just in the wrong place at the wrong time it was definitely tunneling.
I would try to not let those post game chat comments get to you. They're just being poor sports. It says a lot more about their character than it does about yours.

Aren't super hard challenges kind of a tradition in gaming? Isn't the point to have bragging rights when you actually finish them? They aren't unobtainable. They are just really, REALLY hard.

@bendermac said:
Makes no sense at all. I mean the Status "Undetectable" says what it does: You can't be detected. But why can certain perks detect the undetectable?
So in other words: Spine Chill and Premonition should not detect the undetectable. Period!
And yes, I'm glad you guys work on certain aspect that ruined stealth killers. Kudos for that. But don't stop halfway through and say it's intended. Stealth means you don't know someone/something is coming, unless the stealth killer makes a mistake and blows his/her cover.
The actual description of the status states that it removes the killer's red stain an TR, which does technically remove the main way of detecting a killer for a BASEKIT survivor. The whole point of perks it to give optional abilities to enhance the baseline survivor or killer.

@Keelah said:
None of these. I never run it but I think it's a good perk

@YaiPa said:
You clearly don't know how meta works. Since looping is the meta, chase-time increasing perks are meta. If stealth was meta (or at least Wraith or Myers were meta), then Spine Chill would be meta (along with Iron Will, Calm Spirit and so on).
I get how meta works. I find the claims that this perk is now meta to be quite dubious. That's why I'm conducting a poll and collecting data! 📊📈📉

I generally prefer killer but there are certain times of day that it takes way to long to find a lobby. Survivor is a close second though! :)

I myself will add this perk to a build on occasion but every time I do I end up feeling like I don't use it effectively. Half the time I end up forgetting to keep an eye on it.
-
I've played (pantsless!) Myers a lot since the update. TBH, I have not had any problem getting out of tier 1. Sure, I haven't been able to fully fill tier 1 while a survivor sits on a gen as often as before. Sure, I can't 99 tier one and go stab said gen worker as often. But you just stalk them while they run away. It's what you have to do going from tier 2 to tier 3 anyway.
Does this make running scratched mirror more of a gamble? Sure! But I think saying Myers is no longer a viable killer is an overreaction.

I just watched RiffTrax version of "The Uninvited"...so stupid and good.
I am pretty sure it was Day of the Animals I am remembering. Was there a scene with "wild dogs" and was there just a ton of footage of a bird watching the hikers? And if I remember correctly, doesn't a bear maul the old guy (I think it's Leslie Nielson)??
If that's the one, then you picked a real gem of a film!!!
Hahaha Yes, that is DEFINITELY the same film! Many shots of random birds giving the camera the evil eye!
-
This a refreshing post! I will add that an apology in end game chat for any "bad manners" plays can go a long way.
I was playing a game as killer and I after I downed a Jake the last gen popped. I ran around trying to get another survivor but the rest escaped. I went back and hooked Jake.
In the chat I said, "Sorry for the slug. Things spiraled out of control for me at the end." He was basically like, "Oh ok. It's all good." Got the impression he was about to go off but a little kindness diffused the situation.

@THEghostface said:
I have never been more frustrated playing this killer. They run to all the hard loops and infinites the moment you are within their detection range. The "counter" of looking sideways or moonwalking when approaching doesn't even matter. Some reconsideration is needed if they think it's better to apparently favor a new player's way of learning by making a killer weak in a certain aspect. Tier 1 is nothing but all negatives against these users.
I get it's frustrating that the stars aligned this way but how often is this realistically going to happen? Unless Spine Chill becomes a new meta survivor perk, but I don't know if I see that happening.
-
I definitely think Dracula could be cool and we could even see Abraham Van Helsing introduced as a survivor.
Would love to see a Drac that can turn into a bat to travel quickly across a map "Feral Frenzy" style. Throw in a Dracula's Castle map with random bats appearing to psyche out survivors. Or maybe the map could use bats in place of crows. There's lots of possibilities!
-
Glad you posted this! I've seen streamers counter spine chill and was considering making a similar post. Hopefully people will stop freaking out and saying all the stealth killers are now "broken" which really just means:
Broken = I don't want to adapt my play style
-
@MrPenguin said:
It's not about "teaching the killer a lesson" its more of "Well I'm not having fun or even able to play the game so bye, on to the next one. Why should I suffer for 3 random people to have fun." Don't get me wrong, I don't suicide unless someone wants the hatch, but this is what I hear from people who do.
It shouldn't always be solely about your personal fun when you choose to play survivor. It's all about karma. If you play survivor I can guarantee you've benefitted at some point from another survivor being camped. You completed a gen at some point because some other unknown person stayed and struggled. You owe it to those people to stay in the game for a few extra minutes before you start your next match.
-
@ProfessorDunwich said:
You don't get any points for staying on the hook. So solo survivors don't care. Many of us have recommended survivors get points for staying on the hook to give them some incentive. Clearly that has not happened.
You do get points for struggling on the hook. I tend to get just under 1k for a full length hook struggle.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
If we’ve been having back to back matches of killers camping, we’re no longer giving a rats arse about how the other survivors are going to cope for the rest of the match.
It isn’t a team game.
People need to stop treating it as such.
It is a team game actually, unless you're playing killer. You're just playing the wrong side. If you prefer survivor, you missed my main point which was the only way to show a killer that camping is a bad idea is to stay on the hook and punish them by forcing them to lose gens.
Also, if you keep getting hooked early try hanging back for a few minutes until the killer passes by before you start doing a gen. I had to start doing that when I was new because I kept getting picked off early. Premonition was a perk that helped me a lot early on as well. It helps you figure out how long you can safely complete an objective while the killer approaches.

This is why when I see someone rank < 15 in the lobby I recently started to message them (I'm on PS4) writing this:
"I see you are rank XX, so: welcome to Dead by Daylight! Remember to not disconnect or suicide on hook, have faith in your team and you'll have a lot of fun!"
...for now it's working and they even thank me for the welcome, which is a plus :D!
That's a great tip. I'll try that when I play survivor. Shame I can't do something like that as killer. People have been DC'ing like crazy. It's often before they've even been hooked so not a camping issue.

I like this idea in theory, but in practice, one of the primary reasons I play killer is because there are no quick time events. So I can't support the idea of adding a QTE to Killer in any way, shape or form.
I guess I never really thought about there not being any skill checks on killer. That seems fair.
-
@Entity_Burger said:

Also, forgot to add:
A skillcheck (for the killer) to determine if the survivor breaks free is a stupid idea.
If they did that, they should make it smaller than the current "great" skillcheck, should make it silent, and should additionally make it jump around the screen randomly (like Doctor skillchecks).
I'd be cool with that. I did say the killer's skill check should be even harder than the one survivor made. Maybe they could make it appear between 1 o'clock and 3 o'clock on the check circle. That would be brutal!
-
@[Deleted User] said:
I can get behind this ... Being slugged is incredibly boring, and seems like a handicap for weak baby killers to get their "win". I honestly want to see the slugging meta die.
Slugging meta will die when DS meta dies. People slug because they feel it's the only counter they have, esp if they watch streamers for tips.
Wish they would make it where successful DS skill check immedy triggers an even more difficult skill check for killer. If killer makes it they can hang onto survivor but wiggle meter progress increases some. That would help de-insentivize slugging for killers.
-
You know what else doesn't jive with Lore and totally breaks the game? DC'ing. Sure wish they could do something about that.

It says completely repair 4 gens.
Which to me means you gotta be there from 0% to 100%
I've been thinking this over and I'm hoping they just used poor wording. Since Dark Sense is the driving perk here I would hope you only have to be working on the gen when it pops rather than completing the ENTIRE gen. We all should keep in mind that those challenges could change by the time they are actually made available.
