The sad reality of the situation is that nothing will get fixed. The ultimate goal is making money and BHVR chained themselves to an unsustainable release cycle of new characters every three months long ago. The majority of their resources have to go towards that development and I doubt they are part of the tiny fraction of companies that are open minded enough to actually listen to their customers and then put resources into fixing the problems.
It's nice that they spent time reworking all of the perks to switch up gameplay and break up the meta, but I'd rather have an effective way to actually deal with the cheaters. Give me old annoying dead hard or ruin any day over being flashlight blinded for 30 seconds at a time by a Meg who also completely heals during my attack cooldown.
We just all need to accept that DBD has peaked and will never again bring the kind of joy that it used to.

They say a lot of things. Wait and see.
So do people on this forum. And they are mostly empty threats as people keep playing this game.

I'm saying I would classify that movie as the fever dream of the franchise. Did you see it yet?

Then the NFT producers are selling themselves short by not advertising it. Did you read the NFT website? What exactly do they say on there that alludes to exclusive content?

If (emphasis on if) Dbd gets removed from Steam anyone who bought it would keep the game and all DLC. The only major problem would be new DLC. As there is basically no way BHVR doesn't own your player data and / or hosts it on their own servers it should be possible to hook it up to an Epic account, if (again emphasis on if) the game gets removed from Steam and if they move it to the Epic store instead.
This game is not getting removed from Steam

I don't know how much money bhvr is making off these NFT's but How can it be worth not only being kicked off the largest PC platform by a large degree but also losing so much player trust
I doubt BHVR is making any money off of the NFT's. I'm sure it was part of the licensing agreement to allow the license holder to use the character model for other purposes. BHVR is not the company producing the NFT's.

I doubt it. And here's why:
They're not THAT altruistic. It's easy to take a stance like "No NFT"s in game!" But if they take actions for something outside the game, people will expect them to do it with other things. And that could end up costing them money. They like money.
This is very true. It's my understanding that Steams policy has nothing to do with altruism. It has to do with them not wanting to get in trouble by the government regulators.

I don’t want to quit playing though. This game has done a lot for me and came into a dark time in my life. Also I am very close to a lot of the characters.
Well then don't quit playing. I'm sure you'd be surprised to find out that most things you love in life are somehow terrible for the planet and/or humanity.
-
@GannTM said:
Either way I’m still disgusted in BHVR and they deserve to be punished in some way.
You definitely have the right to stop playing the game and buying content. Everyone who wants to stop supporting them is able to.
-
Nothing is happening to DBD on Steam. Steams policy prevents publishers from selling/exchanging NFT's in game. This Pinhead NFT is not minted by BHVR and is not in the game. The NFT is a limited run of blockchain created tokens associated with the character model and created outside of the game by a separate company. In fact buying the NFT does not guarantee in game content. If you read the website it says 10 out of the 10,000 NFT's will randomly come with access to the Hellraiser chapter. Those 10 people are basically getting Steam keys for the content.
Here's the difference. You buy the Hellraiser content for the game through BHVR (or Steam or GOG or Humble Bundle etc.) This is the in game content and is not an NFT. It has no blockchain information associated to it. What steam doesn't want is for a company to say you have to buy an NFT to get in game content, in other words the NFT is part of the game. This situation isn't that. The Hellraiser chapter purchased anywhere is not an NFT.

I have a lot of fun with the game since I turned off the end game chat. I also go into it expecting to die most matches so there's that too. Setting realistic expectations helps tremendously.

I don't want people to hold W and pre-drop everything. I want the loops.
That's the thing about life. You don't always get what you want. It's amazing how many people don't get that concept these days.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/261361/so-survivors-shouldnt-be-allowed-to-run-now
Obviously survivors are supposed to run. But let me ask you, what is the more fun game (and i mean for both sides.)
Game 1:
- Killer starts a chase with a survivor and they run to a loop, now starts a mindgame between the 2.
- Did the killer double back?
- Did he fake doubling back?
- Is his red stain actually showing the direction he is going?
- Did that survivor actually vault the window?
- Did he fake it?
- Did he slow vault it?
- Maybe he has Quick and Quiet?
Game 2:
- Killer starts a chase with a survivor
- Survivor immediately holds shift + w and runs in the opposite direction
- Survivor immediately drops every pallet the run across and force the killer to break it.
- Killer loses 3 gens in 2 minutes before landing a single hit.
In Game 2 you don't have to chase the first survivor the whole time. You break some pallets then switch chase and coax the new survivor towards the unsafe area where there are no pallets.
Part of this game is adapting to different situations. Try thinking out of the box and it makes it fun and engaging like game 1.

OP, have you actually read the explanations and arguments about why this is an issue?
PS: Some people have fun by playing competitively. Just because your fun is in not taking the game seriously doesn't mean it's the only type of fun people are allowed to have.
I'm aware of the complaints. My post was trying to use humor to point out that it's kind of ridiculous when you think about it.
The issue seems to be, as with all the other petty complaints, is that people get good at a certain playstyle and then pitch a fit anytime something is introduced that requires them to adjust their style and adapt.
-
@Edgars_Raven said:
Um. No. You have the complaint wrong. They are complaining that survivors run *in a straight line and predrop pallets.*
Oh ok. So my post title should have read, "So survivors shouldn't be allowed to RUN and DROP PALLETS now?"
Thanks!

- Stop releasing new characters so often. Cut the number in half.
- Replace the Auric Cell bonuses in the rifts with bloodpoint bonuses to increase your revenue. People will still invest in the rift for the cosmetics and to help with the grind if they get bloodpoints. Maybe even offer 2 options for the rift... one that pays back auric cells and one that gives you extra bp's
- Use the extra time you're not making characters to make the game run well and maybe start developing Dead by Daylight 2.
-
Personally, I always go by the motto, "All's fair in Endgame Collapse." I've yet to have a survivor argue back against that.
-
@Alice_pbg said:
while adding this is a good idea. it won't change what is busted about keys.
you can make it take 20 seconds to open, survivors are still gonna escape no issue.
what I think would really change this, is making it so the key only works for the one using it. and after they jump, the hatch de-spawns and appears somewhere else.
I'm just trying to come up with a different reasonable nerf. Everyone has been saying only one person should escape per key forever and the devs obviously aren't going to implement that change.
Maybe have it where the keys work the same but escaping through an open hatch could trigger a very hard skill check like decisive strike or overcharge? If a key is used it gets consumed like normal but the skill check triggers for any person who then tries to go through the hatch. If anyone misses it the hatch slams shut.
-
Play the game the way you want to and don't worry about trying to please every other player. If petty people's salty comments get to you too much just hide the end game chat. It's the best thing I ever did and I enjoy the game waaaaaaay more now.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/189155/dear-console-players-it-gets-better
Have a gold star for using a controller on your PC. Clap, clap. However, when playing PS4 there is no way of knowing whether the killer is on PC or not - even in the endgame screen as the symbol only indicates that the killer was on a different platform to PS4 - so maybe Xbox, PC, Switch. So how could a PS4 player dc in protest against something they do not, will not ever know?
Hope this eases your heavy heart. Maybe you can stop blaming console players for something we are all experiencing during our games. As most rational players (from all platforms) would agree - bring back the dc penalty.
I never claimed the console players know who they are playing against. Sadly, many of them just assume they are playing against pc if they get downed quickly and then they dc. I make that assumption based on the fact that there are people on this forum making the argument that it's ok to dc because it's unfair for console players to play against pc killers. I understand how this game reveals the players so I understand that they are making an assumption.
That is who my original post was intended for and maybe I should have made that more clear. But I would have thought the whole reason I brought up my experience using a controller would have gotten that point across. Thanks for reminding me that a lot of people can't make those sort of logical connections. Clap clap

I have no idea what they're planning on with that. But they're a relatively small team for a game of this size, and are already working on fixing MMR and getting the Early Game Slowdown from the anniversary announcement done, not to mention the future DLCs they're already coding. Plus they were supposedly working on the Bots as well.
So, no clue whether or not they have the manpower to redo a DC penalty system, too. Time will tell.
Plus, I believe they're still working from home.
Which is why I worry that their attitude will be to just abandon the dc penalty all together. As I said it's the thing that's improved the health of the game the most. Sad if it goes by the wayside.

Well, the issue is that the hackers have already been into it multiple times. So, unless they scrap the current thing entirely and code a new system from the ground-up, we're going to be going round-and-round this bush for some time to come.
Hopefully they decide to start from the ground up because it's worth it. Disconnects completely ruin a match and they are going to have long term problems if this continues. Doesn't matter how pretty they make this game if it becomes unplayable because of the community.
-
@Kilmeran said:
No. It was there. Then hackers got into it and gave Streamers like Tru3 massive bans.
They pulled it to plug the hole, and put it back out.
Then hackers got into it again and gave Streamers like Tru3 massive bans.
They pulled it to plug the hole, and put it back out.
Then Hackers got into it again, and this time hit Puppers and someone else.
They pulled it to plug the hole, and haven't put it back out yet.
But you see the recurring theme here. When they do put it back out, give the hackers a week, maybe two weeks, and it'll be pulled again.
Well that's just great! Hopefully the dc penalty doesn't go the way of matchmaking and become a feature that's supposedly in place but doesn't actually do anything. The penalty was by far the single thing that improved the health of this game the most in the 15 months I've been playing.

Technically, if you're not on a competitive team, all of your time playing this game is "time wasted".

@Stinde said:
Here's a little bit of common sense to you:
Console players who think that playing against PC is unfair opt out from crossplay. So they cannot be the ones that DC in your games.
Stop blaming one portion of the community about actions that plague the whole community regardless of platform.
That might be easier to do except the dc problem only started again on pc after crossplay. Also, the game shows us who is on crossplay and it's not the pc players who are disconnecting in my experience.

@JPLongstreet said:
I never DC unless the game itself tosses my happy ass, telling me i need an Internet Connection, despite both my xbox party chat and stream staying up. For me it is not about a mouse or not, it is all about fps.
Ever since the last two patches came out (chainsaw bros reworks and the one after) my frames have been horrible. Worse on any of the indoor maps, especially on Lery's. I tried Croosplay the day it started and in both roles, but it was terrible, and imo impossible to play as killer. All of consoles existing performance problems seem to deepen, and if you look around the forum others have spoken about this as well.
I cannot defend a console surv instantly dc'ing each and every time during their first down or such, but I have to believe a couple must be because of fps crushing their gameplay.
That's fair. And I have seen posts about fps problems. I guess I didn't realize how bad it is. Is it worse for killer though? It seems like most of the survivors I've had dc when I'm playing killer (on a controller mind you, but they don't know that) have been 1) Immediately after down, 2) Immediately after being picked up, or 3) Right as they are being placed on the hook. Those don't seem to be technical issues.
-
@Nvsbl_1 said:
The thing I've noticed most with cross play when going against a pc killer is the rate of turn. In this regard, pc killers definitely have an advantage. With console killers you can usually juke them fairly well with a 180 or left and right turns. It is highly noticeable when going against mouse and keyboard player. They can turn really fast. Quicker than a controller will ever be able to. Other than that, I don't really notice too much.
And as someone who has only experienced killers with that type of turn, it's how I learned to loop. I feel like people (not you) are acting like the game is impossible now when they just need experience playing against new players. That's why I don't understand the dc's. If you dc, you aren't getting any practice against new types of players so how do you get better?
-
@Johnny_XMan said:
So like when killers refuse to commit to a chase when they have a 3 gen ‘strat’?
Why is strat in quotation marks? It's a legitimate strategy. So is two survivors sneaking around. Are they annoying, sure. But isn't that the point of a competitive game? Prevent the opponent from completing objectives. Why would a killer abandon a three gen?

I love how people are upvoting that guy too. Exactly how many players don't know the reason the hatch was added to the game in the first place?
Probably all the players who started playing after the hatch was added to the game.
-
This is just how this community reacts to anything that requires a change up in play style. New killers/existing base kit changes = "The killer is unfun and I will dc in every match I load into with them." The same thing is happening with the dc wave that's come after crossplay. The console people swear it's unfair they have to play against pc so now they are dc'ing in nearly every match. Welcome to the DBD community!
-
@ASurvkillivorer said:
No console players want to play PC killers outside of delusional ones and people who only play the game in SWF. Hopefully it goes on and on until something is done.
I've only played on pc and I've only ever used a controller. It's not impossible to play against pc killers. It's just going to take getting used to.
The problem with the entire DBD community is every time there's any sort of change that requires adjusting of play style they respond by throwing temper tantrums. This same thing happened when new Freddy came out. There was a massive wave of DC's. I thought there were supposed to be DC penalties buy I guess they turned them off when they introduced full crossplay?

@ppo8820 said:
I get they need to be faster to end chases but do they need to be as fast as they are? 4.6 with a huge lunge seems very unfair. Survivors should be 4.2 and killers 4.5. Thoughts?
Oh yeah! Sure! You know they should make the killers able to help repair gens too while they're at it.
-
@ppo8820 said:
Nope. I think great! Another op killer who will try hard to win and tell me to git gud when they have every advantage.
Are we playing the same game? Since when does the killer have every advantage?
-
I wish the devs had never said their goal was to make anything "more fun to play against." All it has done is solidify the survivor mentality that their individual fun should trump anyone elses experience with this game. Especially if that anyone else is the killer.
Just curious what perks OP brings into the matches. Willing to bet there are some that make the killer think "Oh this is going to be a fun match!"
-
@Fleece said:
Hahahahaha they don't know how to make actual functioning ai that could provide even a slither of challenge
Well that would probably make all the people who find the killers "annoying to play against" pretty happy.
-
What if the time to open was related to the closeness of the gates? ie. If gates spawn close they take longer to open. The problem I see is always having them opposite each other gives the survivors more information. If they see one gate during the match they automatically know where the second one is.

-
Insidious does not equal camping. What are you supposed to do, run across the map and then stand still. So yes, that means there is a perk that encourages camping. There are also a bunch that encourage not camping.
Oh and for the thousandth time, the devs view camping as a valid strategy. Just accept that there will be occasions where you get camped. It doesn't happen every match and if it does you might want to change up your strategy.

I think yes, because for example some people couldn't saw, that they are playing on red ranks against a red ranks killer with two yellow ranks teammates.
Or killers couldn't see, that they blackpipped after a 4k.
Yes, but that would be the point. Pipping and rank cause so much outrage why not just get rid of them and have two less things for people to be outraged about.
Why does the killer need to see whether they pippedd or not? They also wouldn't know their rank so what's to get upset about? People are constantly saying that rank doesn't really reflect skill in this game so why show us what rank we are?
-
@FriendlyGuy said:
Meh. BHVR relies at least a bit on the feedback of the community. And making it impossible for people to see is not the right way to get feedback.
Do you think feedback regarding pips and rank have any direct correlation to gameplay feedback?
