Not sure but I can see how this film would provide for some amazing off-screen commentary.

@not_Queen I also noticed that the game rules page on this forum (link below) also states that disconnects are reportable for Unsportsmanlike Conduct. Please update so that players don't continue reporting as I had mistakenly been doing. Thanks and I apologise for encouraging others to report as well. I thought we were supposed to.

YOU did not go out of your way to complete them. I'm pretty sure you are the exception. I think a large amount of the player base will engage in the challenges. Even if you did not want to, it is tough to avoid when you are having them shoved in your face. They cover up the after game chat. Whatever challenge someone activates will be their top priority for the overwhelming majority.
The real problem I see is people becoming overly focused on the challenges. I am actively seeking them out, however, I will still continue the match after it's clear I'm not making that particular goal. The amount of DC's I've been seeing makes me feel like I'm in the minority in that aspect.

I wonder how many battlepasses would be purchased if the free track was more generous.
Offering recolors of standard outfits or irdescent shards. Maybe BP offerings like puddings or something along those lines would go a long ways towards making the battlepass more palatable and improving the overall goodwill of people who dislike the system and giving more to the people who welcome it.
But no.
Greed and manipulation are what they went for instead.
Greed and manipulation aren't necessarily what BHVR wants. They are just the requirements for viability in a capitalist system.

And additionally, there also seems to be a DC bug, where players, even killers (who are doing very good, mind you) get randomly DC for no reason at all. I blame the servers.
It very well could be the servers. Here's an idea. What if they gave a progressive Bloodpoint penalty for DC'ing? They have stated that dedicated servers would be better able to detect whether a DC was intentional or connection issues.
What if intentional DC meant next match you get a post match 50% bp reduction? If it's post match it wouldn't affect emblem and pipping but there's still some consequence. If you DC intentionally 5 times you have 50% penalty for 24 hrs. I'm just spitballing numbers to out the idea out there.
I understand why they don't want to ban people, especially those who spend money on the Rift Pass, but there are a lot of us who spent that same money and do finish up a match even if it goes south right away. It feels like we are the ones being punished and that doesn't seem right. @Peanits , @not_Queef@not_Queen , does this seem like a reasonable thing the devs might be open to? @not_Queef

So even if they implement ban system you really think it will help? They just gonna loose more players which will result in longer lobby times and for what? So you can finally face camp me for all game? 😁
Since I'm open minded person, I'm gonna ask for your help, so what should I do as a survivor in situation that I described? If I'm on the hook or someone else is on the hook being face amped with leather face and his chainsae is up and running? Both times at the beginning of game let's say 1 min in game?
Also also :), a lot of the DC's I see happen before anyone is even hooked. It's not like people are only DC'ing because of a rampant camping problem.

Also, I never said they should ban people. They talked about forcing people who DC to wait a certain amount of time before they can join a lobby. If they continue to DC the time gets longer. That's not a ban.

You stay on the hook and struggle to get points and give the rest of the team time to work on gens. That's what I do.

DC'ing has no punishment unless someone dc's quite a lot so reporting is basically useless right now.
Also don't act like killers don't dc a lot too.
Yes, I've been reporting the killers that do it when I play survivor as well.
-
That's how protesting works people. Of course they don't want to be flooded with DC reports, but if we do flood them with reports they might have to actually start taking action. Also, if the argument is they need the report channel free for more important things, I would say the DC's have now become the more important thing as more often than not they are the thing breaking the game right now.

Now your twisting my words. I never said I welcome greedy maneuvers. Just saying that the fact that they are offering the potential to earn back all AC's as rewards should have tipped you off that there would be some monstrously hard challenges involved.

As a game should be fun, I don't see fun in leather face standing and face camping 1st player that he downed in 10 seconds of starting game, together with all his hex totems and no gens done. Standing with his chain saw and giving no option for any save. I would understand later in game when at least other players are getting some gameplay. But what's the point of staying in game like this if you know he gonna camp everyone? I rather DC and play with other people.
But dc that survivors do in middle of match just because killer outplayed them is unacceptable in my opinion.
I play both survivors and killers.
This is the problem. I keep seeing more and more posts with survivors now making up "valid reasons" for DC'ing. There's a reason it's reportable as unsportsmanlike conduct. You don't get to rewrite the "survivor rules for how killers should play" and now say it's acceptable for survivors to DC. You are a hippocrite if you're going to complain about camping and say it's ok to DC.
-
This is why they need to actually start doing something about DC's. I'm still pretty new at the game and have been more likely to defend the devs, but their inaction on the DC problem is starting to change my opinion. . .

I was initially excited about the rift/archives in spite of my distaste for battle passes because it looked cool and it was presented as being actually feasible and worthwhile when it was announced.
But then the later challenges, already locked behind a time gate, were announced. Devs, I strongly urge you to reconsider these impossible pie in the sky challenges (that will generate toxicity and bad sportsmanship to boot.) It blatantly looks like these challenges were specifically designed to ensure people don’t make it through the rift, they don’t earn back their 1000 ac, and to twist our arms into dropping 100 ac to bypass them.
Nobody will want to pay for something that’s clearly rigged against them, and if people feel a lot of negativity and frustration towards not being able to even do these so called challenges, they won’t even waste their time doing the archives. Life is short and painful enough without added misery, especially designed to shake money out of your wallet.
Challenges should not require luck or chance. It should be skill and perseverance alone. This way everyone from the god tier players to the not very good, but having fun players have a chance.
I also think single trial challenges should probably be done away with too since this causes negative stress. If master challenges involved more numbers over time than the regular ones, it would inspire more people to try them.
Tldr; players won’t pay or participate in something they know they literally can’t accomplish and see it as bad faith by the developers.
I think the problem is that when they said you would have the opportunity to earn back your 1000 AC that people assumed it would be easy for everyone to earn back all of their AC.
There was never any guarantee and of course they aren't going to make it super easy to get a full refund of your AC. That's just common sense. I get it everyone wants something for free, but seriously? Anyone that's played video games in the last decade knows that's not how this industry works.

...Okay?
What’s the point of this thread?
It’s been clarified multiple times that camping is a legit strategy with major downfalls.
Easy fix? Ignore post game chat/messages.
The point is an entitled survivor exercising his self-given right to tell killers how they are supposed to play the game.

Shorter baits means make your clickbait posts shorter. I don't think you're going to have anyone here agree with you unfortunately. Wraith is regarded near universally as the worst killer. If you're having a hard time best bet is running Premenition or Spine Chill on your survivor.

Maybe try replying again to the email that asked for your Steam ID? I think when you reply to an email it reopens your ticket.

That should be enough. Not in front of the game right now but new outfits are generally 1080 Auric Cells and I believe Rift Pass is 1000AC.

Keep in mind, at my current skill level 3 survivors still have a pretty good chance at escaping me. Lol

I do generally play how I want. I was being mostly cheeky with the OP. The DC's have been getting pretty bad lately though. Don't understand why people can't just finish a match even if they get off to a rough start. Matches don't last that long! Not to mention it's super satisfying if you manage a huge comeback.

I can't believe no one has brought up lobby wait times. I always assumed the reason killers got more blood points was because of the time they have to spend waiting for a match. I'm willing to bet if you looked at it from a time perspective the parity would look a lot different. You are looking at it per match whereas if you looked at an hour of gameplay they come pretty close to evening out since a survivor can get more matches in an hour compared to killer.

They should get rid of microsleep, bring back old sleep mechanic, sleep with hits is fine. I just think you should actually have to be found to be put into the dreamworld. Would make for a much better experience.
I disagree. To me the microsleep makes his matches seem more like the A Nightmare on Elm Street films. Freddy's victims are always fighting to stay awake and end up randomly succumbing to sleep in random bursts against their will. I love the new mechanic!
-
Self Care is useful for new people who are learning the game. I used it and then grew out of it when I learned to last longer in a match because I wanted the perk slot for other things. Let people run what perks they want to without having to put up with someone looking down on them for it. You think it's useless so you don't use it. Why do you feel the need to dictate what others do?

If you suck in chases, then that pretty much makes you a bad survivor.
I disagree. You could just be new or have a different play style. I'm not good at chases so I'm stealthy and I make sure I am working on an objective while the killer is elsewhere. If there's someone in your lobby who is several ranks higher than you, they will generally be able to handle a chase far better than you and the killer my get sucked into pursuing them. Try to stay out of site and get things done. Of course you will still get chased but you will get better over time. It seems like the expert lopers are the ones with tons of hours of gameplay under their belt.

The other day, I ordered McDonalds through UberEats. There was a significant delay, and the food was cold by the time I got it. I talked to UberEats and explained the situation, and within a few hours they had given me a full refund. I wasn't expecting a refund and I certainly don't believe I was entitled to one, but it did make me feel a lot better about my cold chips, and a lot more confident ordering food the next time.
Should BHVR give us anything? Depends how you define "should". They certainly are under no obligation to do so, and we shouldn't expect anything. Would I, in their place? Yes. It would help to ease some of the disappointment and inconvenience caused, and encourage people to be more forgiving next time. Whether or not the delay was their fault is irrelevant - compensation for inconvenience or dissatisfaction caused is just good PR.
There's a big difference between a company refunding one customer and a company providing something of value (yes, BP are a commodity in this game) free to millions of customers.

It is good for gameplay, yes. Being able to tell which way is the better way for you to run the window (as killer and survivor) is part of what separates that average player from good players. The shack is a good example of this. The survivors will want to vault from the inside out, killers will them to vault from the outside in so they lose more distance and possible get a hit.
It should be very clear at a glance which side you can fast vault from. If there's stuff in front of the window, you can't fast vault it from that side. Memory has nothing to do with it, it's just understanding how the mechanics work.
Thanks for the tip Peanits! I am TERRIBLE at looping! Maybe this will help. :)

I know they are intentional. I am saying they should reconsider, how it is handled. Do you think forcing a certain way of play is good for game health? Doesn't making only one good sided loops encourage just memorizing maps? Or is that the point of being an advanced player. Better memory. I think you shouldn't make a correct way of vaulting. People should be able to improvise more in chases.
Slow and medium faults may supposed to be very dangerous, but right now they are impossible. Killer can hit you even if you medium/slow vaulted before he/she entered the building. That distance is ridiculously long. And vaulting is literally your only advantage as survivor over killer.
Vaulting is literally the only advantage survivors have over killer? Seriously? What about pallets, flashlights, keys, the hatch. . . Not to mention multiple perks that can pull you out of dieing state and help you avoid getting hooked.

Inji knows what she's talking about. We cannot guarantee that it's safe to do. It's purely down to the anti-cheat.
Sorry, wasn't trying to say @Inji didn't know what she was talking about. Mainly wanted to get clarification because everytime the topic comes up it starts a back-and-forth over whether this can get you banned or not. I also don't want to inadvertently give advice that might get someone banned.
In researching whether EAC checks .ini files I came across a post on this forum (see link below) from Sep 2018 in which @Peanits stated that the ACM team (BHVR) will not ban people for changing the graphics settings in this file but it could be detected by EAC. I've yet to find anything about people having an issue with EAC. I also understand that BHVR cannot speak for the third party software.
So, is it possible to get confirmation that BHVR will not seek out a ban for turning on AimAssist while using a controller. I would think it exists for use with controllers but isn't activated on PC because majority of the players use k/m. Not trying to be combative. Just want to make sure I'm not doing something that BHVR considers bannable and suggesting it to others. Thanks for your help and thanks for all the hard work you put into this game!
TL;DR Does BHVR specifically (not EAC) consider turning on AimAssist in the GameUserSettings.ini while using a controller on PC to be a bannable offense that gives unfair advantage?

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/763958#Comment_763958
Please be careful when altering your files. Its 'use at your own risk'. If you are banned by EAC we cannot unban.
It's been stated over and over that the GameUserSettings.ini file is only a settings file and is not checked by EAC. I was weary about it myself at first. If you search for "GameUserSettings.ini" on this forum there are over 130 posts talking about changing settings in this file. It's one of the main ways improve performance on lower end PC's.
@Peanits would it be possible to get dev confirmation on this so that everyone can be on the same page and I'll have a post to refer to when this gets brought up?
-
One more tip. . . Don't forget that you can tweak the controller settings in the steam overlay. You might need to adjust the stick dead zones if you have movement/camera issues. I also found it extremely helpful to lower the sensitivity of the y-axis on the right control stick. Just my personal preference. Steam gives you a lot of granular control over the controller settings. Play around with them and you'll be able to make the controller experience much better.
-
I use a PS4 controller. I'm going to let you in on a (kinda) secret. Check out the link below. It's instructions for setting up "advanced" graphics options that aren't available in the in game options menu.
When you open the file, there is a line for AutoAim (Might be called something slightly different. Not at my PC now.) It is set to "False" by default. Change it to "True" and it will make life a lot easier as killer. It doesn't guarantee hits, but before I changed this setting I used to spin around wildly when striking at survivors in very close range. Not sure why this option isn't in the game menu. Oh, and don't worry. This is just a settings file so changing anything is completely ok.
Introduction Hey guys, since much of you guys are requesting most customization for the game, I am here to show you how you can customize some settings by yourself by editing the config file. I know there's no options for Anti-Aliasing and VSync and such in the in-game's options, but it does support them however. So let me show you. -

If you weren't cheating, I would not worry. They're not going to ban anyone on a whim, without investigating to make sure accusations like this are valid.
What killer were you playing? There are a ton of tracking perks and abilities in the game, so maybe the player who reported you doesn't understand how you could quickly find people. I suspect that a lot of us have been on the receiving end of this type of confusion at one point or another.
From what I remember I was playing with Freddy with one of the dream pallet add ons that show survivor auras. I didn't feel like I was playing any better than normal. I was just taken aback by being accused of cheating. But then again. . . poor sports.

I feel like, if you wanted to just donate, then just donate? Because really, wouldn't that actually be better? With what you are saying I mean. They are spending money and resources designing, making sure the clothing fits and doesn't bug out etc That's alot of time and effort and money/labor. just on all the cosmetics and now charms too. Instead if the money was just donated, wouldn't that better fuel the ways the "community wants"? They could save on all of that.
People seem to be afraid that this company's money will dry up/disappear.... That can happen even if you throw MILLIONS at them (which they have, btw). If they misuse or misappropriate that money... it don't matter, how much you gave, it will still end up disappearing anyway. They have been making amazing profit.. I've not seen anything to suggest they need any extra handouts.. Regardless, you are still taking a risk.
Again, if this was a free to play game, I can understand all of this. You want to support something that is free and you have access to all the content, they are making $0 initial profit... but with DBD, you have to purchase it, you have to purchase the extra content not already packaged within the main game etc. They have several ways of revenue already in place...
Do you think every single game out there should be like that? Making cosmetics, freemiums, lootboxes, battlepasses, no more actually free games etc etc. How do all the other games stay afloat I wonder. Because they don't need to do all those things.(There are 1 time payment apps out there that have made millions of dollars itself from costing $1).. I mean these are just things to question.... imo.
I'm never going to tell anyone how to spend their own money, but I still don't necessarily agree with how they are going about it. I also question where this will end..
Also, no one is saying they are afraid BHVR is going to run out of money (twisting words again). You are also making up arbitrary rules. In your world you can't pay for a game up front and continue to support them in the future? Why not? If you don't want to that's fine. Maybe you aren't telling people how to spend their money but you are implying that those who choose to spend it are beneath you.

You're not going to tell anyone how to spend their money. You're just going to be condescending and minimize those people who do want to spend money on this game by saying "If you want to donate, just donate money." I'm not donating money, I am purchasing items that I feel make my game experience more enjoyable. If you want to have a debate you should at least come up with an argument that doesn't require you to twist the words of others.
