In the first case yes, in the second case not sure but I don't think so.

Like I said, chases you win vs chases you lose is a statistic the game tracks. So regardless of what you think a won chase SHOULD be, that won't change what a won chase actually is.

And yes it matters, because this knowledge is important for anyone trying to maximize their evader emblem.

I dont think anyone is talking about it in the same manner of the chaser emblem though

  • @Almo said:

If I knew nothing about DbD, and was asked this, I'd say we need to get Leatherface. :D

No way, he'd be too OP, lol

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

Why is anyone here making anything up? There is an objective answer to this question.

If the chase ends with the Survivors successfully losing the Killer then the Survivor successfully won the chase. If they are downed then they lost the chase.

Won chases are explicitly tracked by the evader emblem and are worth double the chase points compared to a chase where you get hit.

    Quote from the wiki:

"a Chase is considered ended and successful for the Survivor if the Killer is lost for 5 seconds"

Because its all down to the details and not a matter of "Does the game see you as in a chase, then out of a chase". If the killer spots multiple people at the same time, but only goes after 1... did the others win a chase even though they just passed infront of the killer's screen and were never actually chased? If Legion uses his power to stab 4 ppl...did 3 ppl win a chase?

  • Be my luck, the game would make me play Burgerking Myers

    Escaping, obviously.

If I got in a chase with you for 5 seconds to score a PWYF stack...would you consider that "winning"? If a Legion goes into FF and stabs all 4 survivors...did 3 of em "win" since they didnt go down?

kinda like how ds,borrowed, soul guard, unbreakable, deliverance, iron will, fixated, dead hard, reward you for being hit

Why did you include fixated on this list at all? Half of its effect only works if the survivor is healthy.

  • Theyre never gonna add a perk that lets you run up to the killer and push a button to stun them on demand, lets just clear that out of the way. As far as your idea of having a survivor whos a rugby player...

I still do beat good squads, especially with deathslinger, but it's them types of games, where either the survivors split gens, its ormond etc, that are unwinnable from the start.

I don't want to stomp noobs, its hella boring asf. When I get a good squad that isn't genrushing like mad, its fun. I'll happily take a 1k, 2k 3k 4k. That's how I want the majority of games. However if the survivors just split up and rush gens like mad there's not much the majority of the killer cast can do other than the top top tier with good add ons.

This is the "skill ceiling" people talk about, no matter how good you are with that killer, you will be beaten by survivors who know what there doing. They may as well give you the brutal killer prompt at the start as the end result is pretty much already decided.

What i don't want is for most of my games to be like this. One good thing that could come from it is the other like what, 60% of games being fun challenging games. But i'm not willing to be constantly beaten by unbalanced things, just to have a few fun games.

Skill ceiling my ass... My kill rate with Bubba lately has been like 80% at rank 1, and thats just cuz i dont slug for the 4k so the last guy gets out alot of the time. A new MMR isnt gonna tank that to below 50%, lol.

  • @Leachy_Jr said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/158576/people-who-complain-about-how-unenjoyable-the-game-is

The good chunk of peoples 4ks come from matchmaking being horrible, just an FYI.

I think the reason majority of people complain (and why I complain) is this, you know them games where you just can't win as killer and you feel helpless against them? Yea you do. Thankfully that's only about 5% of my games. But, when a new matchmaking system comes that actually works, that 5% is going to bump up to somewhere like 20%, and then 30% as it starts to improve, and then 40% and possibly even higher.

Now this isn't the matchmakings problem, that has done its job, the problem now is balancing.

In that time the devs are going to make balance changes, but the majority of matches you're going to be playing is going to be dripping with sweat like an olympic runner.

Basically, to sum it up, one of the main reasons of killers getting 4ks is matchmaking, and people complain as to when a good matchmaking system comes, the game is already balanced.

If what your saying is true, that you'll be faced with more challenging opponents with the matchmaking change... The answers pretty simple. Get better with the challenge, lol. Dunkin on newbies isnt gonna sharpen your skills. If they manage to match me up with ppl that make me work for those 4ks more often, even with my best killers... I'm more likely to just get better with the increased challenge.

Lmao killers are going to have to 6 second switch in order to not give survivors a warning.

In all seriousness though this is cheating and should be 100% bannable.

Ive actually been doing that lately. Had a game that ended immediately from someone DCing while loading in. The survivors told me in the endgame screen afterwards that one of the survivors that dipped at the lobby screen TOLD them what killer I was using before the game started (was practicing spirit). I'd prefer not to have 4 ppl equip iron will due to cheating...so I've been equiping clown and swapping to Spirit just like ya said...

Just an example that even a main account can land you a crappy rank after a break. Took a break for afew months and my rank on both sides plummeted. I'm a killer main, so my killer rank went back to rank 1 pretty quickly. As you can see... I dont play survivor nearly as much, lol.

Hi guys, looking for legit advice. I'm sub 100 hours and rank 8 killer and am starting to run into coordinated swf teams rushing gens. I play mostly Pig cause she's fun but don't have much more than Pig/generic perks.

Is there anything I can really do to a coordinated team that just takes turns tapping gens or am I just doomed to a gen-kicking simulator? I don't feel like I can commit to a chase because I'll get looped at least for a little while before I can down someone, at which point I lose at least one gen. I can't really use Pig's ability except in a chase, cause the rest of the time I feel like I'm running as fast as I can trying to kick gens to try and stay ahead of the rush - I can't waste time creeping around. But at that point I'm not applying any kind of pressure. Head traps are pointless because I'm already losing the gen rotation and don't have the time to add release stations to the route.

I legit am not sure what to do in this situation except to look for snoot boops and hope to de-pip to get in a fun game. I know I could grind for hex:ruin or the trapper perks but at this point it'll be kind of the same issue for 40 levels plus on whatever new killer I have to level to stay competitive at all.

Looking for actual advice on my current situation as I am fairly new and may just be missing something. I understand that other builds/perks can help but I do not have those available.

which platform do you play on?

  • @Cheers said:

There is no way to tell the difference between someone who is disconnecting intentionally and someone who isn't disconnecting intentionally.

Also, if you have a 72 hour ban, then you either have sub par internet or you have a weak device to run the game on.

considering the game refreshes its DC count daily... to be able to get it that high at all would seem like a GIANT glitch.

I am a rank 1 survivor and killer, ive also been playing since the saw chapter release.

Maybe you should try taking a break for awhile then. I started about the same time you did (bought the Saw version of DBD that came with a digital copy of the first film, lol) and I actually just got back to the game after putting it down for about 3 months. I'm not one to think anyone is truely helpless in combating "genrush" but I DO know the game can get stressful at times, which can lead to making dumb mistakes...which add to the stress. I'm not saying put DBD down for good or anything... but yeah, play something else for abit. Epic game store is giving away a different free game every week atm, so might be able to give ya something you'd like for abit.

  • What rank are you? This sounds like a new player post.

  • You can play a variety of killers at red ranks, its just the ongoing echo chamber that only a handful of killers are viable will often times convince ppl not to bother with the rest of the roster. If someone DOES choose to play a "low tier" killer, they'll then either go in with a negative mindset that they'll lose...which is a self fulfilling prophecy or they'll play a single bad match and assume EVERY game is gonna be bad matches.

  • Stole it from Monto awhile back and have stuck to it since. The Legion pin applies broken, meaning you guarentee SOME value from Thana for awhile.

I like playing as pig, but going against her is always frustrating. Not because of the killer, but it always seems like the gens get completed right after I get a trap on my head...lol.

    Im just imagining this...

    Survivor goes down

Killer slams trap on survivors head

5 gens pop all at the same exact time

Survivor- "How is that even POSSIBLE for 3 ppl to finish 5 gens in sync?"

    Killer prepares tent

  • I kinda wanna see your results playing her. I agree, ebony moris always feel like overkill...but I'm not gonna sit here and bash someones killer/perk choice like you are. That typically comes from someone who doesnt know how to pla what theyre mocking.

  • Theres always going to be hate no matter WHAT killer you play. Ppl can talk about "playing fair" and avoiding OP addons/killers...but often times even when you do that...if they lose they'll still rage and throw a hissy fit.

I play both sides so know how unfair it feels when the killer grabs the survivor only to grab thin air and not even a hit.

This is a clip of one of my tests where I seriously let go late of the generator and felt so bad for the killer as they grabbed the thin air, this seriously needs to be fixed. That spirit should have grabbed me!

Oof, I have trouble with what to respond with when it comes to NOED forums.

One thing I'd just like to quickly point out is that NOED doesn't contribute with matchmaking which you seem to be implying. Any killer can buy NOED in the shrine regardless of which killer you choose (rank sometimes doesn't matter either).

NOED isnt a teachable, therefore...not in the shrine

It doesn't effect the solo experience. It wouldn't hurt it and it might help it by bringing some players who rely on SWF into the solo pool.

"Solo and killer experiences will improve if they just nerf SWF groups" I was asking for clarification on this part here. OP claims that somehow having less effective teammates would help me out when I play solo q survivor.

  • @Orion said:

Programming isn't as simple as you seem to believe. Even putting that aside, you can't do weekly balance changes because one week isn't enough to see how the game changes (if at all) due to the changes you made last week.

Have you considered the fact that people complaining about something doesn't mean it's actually broken? People have been complaining about NOED since the game was launched and it's been nerfed twice since then. Even still, the complaints continue.

PS: They used to update quite regularly. Back then, people were complaining about having too many updates.

I always get a chuckle when someone makes a thread for a NOED nerf and suggest changing it to the original version.

  • How would nerfing SWFs help the solo experience at all?

  • Right? Kinda curious how it would effect framerate myself.

  • @Dead_by_Gadfly said:

Im confused on what you mean. Two survivors are standing with in 4 meters of eachother, what happens?

He's saying if you smack 1 survivor with another survivor nearby, the 2nd survivor would have the broken status effect. As it stands now, not only is it VERY niche on when it would apply, but the effect in general is also weak when it DOES work.

  • @LALYTHIA said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1323592#Comment_1323592

I just think the impact would be negligible. Especially since the only circumstance in which one survivor could tell another is SWF. As a solo, this wouldn't really effect me much. I wouldn't run to the shack just to find out who the killer was before I see them. And idk about other ranks but in red, Myers rarely gets out of EW1 before everyone already knows who the killer is. At least IME, unless you have a potato. 😂 I get it. You don't want anything added that could be remotely a disadvantage for killers or an advantage for survivors, but I just don't see this as having a significant impact. Like I said originally, I understand wanting to secure your anonymity as long as possible...but this would be pretty awesome to see.

It falls under the same lines as when the originally had different hooks for various killers and the same reasoning they took THAT out.

    image.png

A hook like THIS would spawn everytime the killer was Wraith as opposed to everytime you got an autohaven map. They changed it so hooks were bound to the map as opposed to the killer for that exact reason. If you wanted to make the basements the same way...bound to the MAP, thats fine.

Even if it was the new survivor it doesn't affect you Because its JUST A SKIN. PH is a whole new character they are trying to critique. We are trying to see if PH needs a buff or nerf, im just saying if you play anything other than PH or clown expect DC's and have fun when you waited 20+ minutes for a lobby. This is coming from a killer main btw

The PTB is not just to test Pyramid head, its to test EVERYTHING new. Running Pyramid head every match doesnt do that. It would be a real shame if because we only ever went against Pyramid head, that we completely overlook huge errors that has to do with using the new perks on old killers (playing Legion on the Oni's PTB showed the problem with nemesis on Legion) or using old killers on the new map (pretty much nurse on EVERY new map, lol. Theres always deadzones that she just cant blink through).

  • @Dr_Loomis said:

Maybe it's a way of deterring people from slugging.

If a killer downs a survivor, they have to pick up, walk, hook and then find other survivors (or camp the hook, depending on personal salt levels). This gives a bit of time for cool-down.

If there was no cool-down, and a killer was to down a survivor (Surge activates) and then down another survivor straight afterward (in theory setting off Surge again), there would be big regression penalties in a very small space of time.

It could encourage rather disagreeable tactics.

Except the devs are completely ok with slugging (They have on multiple points endorsed it and said to do it) and actively make perks centered around the concept. Knock out for example only has any effect at all if the survivor is slugged. Theyre actually coming out with a new survivor perk centered around slugging with the next update.

  • @brokedownpalace said:

I feel like if you're getting multiple downs within 40 seconds you're probably already doing well and don't need the extra boost.

So in this scenario you down two survivors and a third survivor is working on a gen, netting you 16% of progress removed from that gen, plus two survivors on the ground and you know one more is in your immediate area working on a gen that he can't possibly complete before you get to him? Now let's say you down him and you've got three survivors down and 24% removed from a gen. I don't see how all of that is really necessary. Plus if you use larger TR perks you could remove even more progress because gens are often close together. It would make 3 genning with Doc even more powerful.

Surge isnt TR based. Its a fixed distance.

Gotta love when people tell you to use a Killer that takes skill when playing as BUBBA.

I've been playin ALOT of Bubba lately. Its just fun to be able to screw over teams using what many consider the weakest killer in the game. That moment of panic when they think I'm gonna M1 them through a pallet and I instead bring up that saw. You can tell they realized they screwed up as they frantically try running back to the pallet that I'm not body blocking.

Yeah solo survivor is like a coin flip. You might get good team mates or boosted animals. Which with how broken matchmaking is. Hopefully the new system, will be much better.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1324962#Comment_1324962

Sounds like these teams were salty they lost. Which reminds me of a game i was in as a survivor not long ago. Where the Oni player did very well and basically snowball, leading to a short and quick match. One survivor basically threw every bad word in the book against the killer. Like the more you saw this person speak, the more clear it was, they had very little understanding about Oni as a killer. Like i had to side with and defend the killer. Due to the nonsense one survivor was throwing at the killer, who won fair and square. For somehow this single survivor could not understand, why a Oni might slug.

The Bubba game was great, because while one survivor was going off on me...one of their own teammates told em to STFU. Pretty sure I ended up friending that guy.

  • I've seen the "boring" excuse get brought up for several killers after I steamroll a team with them. Alot of people said it when I was playing and practicing Deathslinger, I've had ppl say it against Bubba (told me to use a killer that takes skill after I 4ked the team with only 1 gen done. Multiple hooks in each), Ive had ppl say I was using boring perks on my Legion since I used slowdown perks even though the game itself was under 10 minutes.

  • They completely gutted his flick after the PTB, and then brought SOME of it back...but nowhere near what it was on the PTB. If you watch some of ScottJund's videos, a guy who played the ######### out of Oni...He constantly makes mention of this in that he'll often times go for swings that are simply out of his turn radius. Often times you can utilize his decent control of his charge to get abit of a turn before the swing, and then flick the little bit ya got...but even thats just aiming for a target 90 degrees from ya as opposed to a 180 degree flick.

  • @Kellie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1324121#Comment_1324121

im talking about turning, the lunge is also easy to get too

You mentioned a 180 degree flick. Whens the last time you played as him? He had that kind of flick on the original PTB, but not after. Currently he only flicks roughly 45 degrees in either direction.

  • @Kellie said:

He has a 180 flick, Oni is the easiest killer to 4K with. Get Good.

When's the last time you've played as him? They toned down his flick ALOT unless your talking about just turning around while lunging rather than flicking after a charge.

  • Im just throwin this out there... but havin a 3rd person view for the killer or 1st person view for the survivors wouldnt be the craziest of ideas...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1HTGJcvTUk

Wouldnt be the first asymetrical game to do it...

If anything, would be interesting to give it a try.

  • Alot of mindgaming is switching it up and knowing the survivor your chasing. If the guy your chasing is noobish and not even looking behind him...mindgames aint gonna work because hes not seeing any of it. On the other side though, if the survivor IS paying attention...you cant do the same move over and over again and expect it to work. Sometimes you fake that your going one way with a red stain mindgame, sometimes you ACTUALLY go.

  • @LALYTHIA said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1323573#Comment_1323573

To be fair, if a team is communicating, this already happens in so many matches. Someone usually sees the killer pretty quickly. Or...you hear a specific radius, you see a trap, a jig saw box, the timer on your avatar, you hear a charge/bell/teleport. It wouldn't really change that much.

That doesnt mean theres any reason to rat out Myers for example before the guy can get out of EW1. Its one thing to be aware of your surroundings to see killer specific gear, but the map itself doesnt need to be giving that information.

1 … 89 90 91 92 93 … 185
