So what if DS/ UB were not changed? Why do the two have to be changed before others may be adjusted? That's just us-vs-them mentality again. Yes these two can be really problematic together, more than pop. But please take a closer look at the listed perk chances: They are nearly all just number tweaks and sometimes slight condition changes! Nothing was changed fundamentally. But thats exactly what DS would need, imo, a mere number tweak does not really change anything about the problematic combo with UB.

DS UB deserve to be changed because they're the most unbalanced perks in the game currently.

Doesn't take much to reduce the DS timer to 45 seconds. Then UB becomes naturally weaker. It kinda partially fixes the problem.

EDIT: In fact yea, DS does need a new mechanic to it, I still find it absurd tho that it's been out for so long and nothing has happened.

  • @CaulDrohn said:

Blimey, what is all that whining about? Pop timer reduced from 60s to 45s, what is the big deal? It's still way enough to get to the farthest gen and pop it (which btw. is a very stupid way of playing with pop, but whatever). There used to be a time when Pop Tier 1 only had a 30s timer, and it still was a good perk then. Seems like no of you complainers remembers this.

I'm complaining that pop got nerfed and DS, UB didn't. The pop nerf isn't that bad, but it boggles my mind that they would nerf pop before DS, UB.

Its immunity if you hit the get downed and picked up in that time and hit the skill check AND have UB to go with it, its not complete immunity without it

If something being meta means it should be nerfed, lets nerf BBQ, Nurses, Iron Will, Corrupt, hell why not nerf Self Care since the devs say its used alot

Stop with the whataboutism, 1 thing being nerfed does not mean something else has to be nerfed as well

You are missing my point by miles.

DS UB deserves a nerf because it's too powerful, NOT because it's meta. I never said we need to nerf meta perks.

And also, when the devs nerf a perk that isn't even a problem on one side, and there's DS UB not even being touched on the other side, it's not me with whataboutism, it's me pointing out either a clear mistake or complete bias.

Just got tunneled off hook by a wraith. A change to make it solely anti tunnel is a nerf. You are removing the anti momentum feature.

That's what we want, we want the anti momentum part of it gone but the anti tunnel to stay.

The anti momentum is pretty BS.

  • @BigTimeGamer said:

Pop: a perk that cuts 25% off a gen

DS: a 1-time use perk that can only be used after being unhooked and then it is gone

these are not the same, stop baiting for the OPPRESSED, VAUNTED KILLER MAINS, nobody should have issues with risk being added to the game

You misspelt 60 seconds of immunity.

Anyway, it should be even, why is pop getting nerfed before DS UB? They're both meta. Just because they can't be compared doesn't mean DS doesn't deserve a nerf (which it absolutely does).

Here is a big brain move take the ds early? So you don’t have to wait 2 minutes because you don’t want to eat the stun??? While combined with UB needs to see some change ds isn’t this god tier perk it’s a one and done and most people waste it early

Tanking DS's early would destroy my early game pressure, especially if there's more than 1. You can only tank them if the survivors let you have it, which good survivors wont do.

  • @RizeAki said:

Pop goes the weasel has up to 12 uses ds and ub are once a game so that kinda ruins your argument right there...

The other thing is I know for a fact it doesn’t take you 45 seconds let alone 60 to get to a gen so you are just reaching for something to cry about stop being entitled

DS activates after every unhook, giving it 2 minutes across all survivors.

You only need to be hit by 1 or 2 Decisives that you don't expect for your game to be over.

  • @KateDunson said:

Do u remember how it was the game after ruin nerf? Almost every killer left and queue times were insane, if they nerf ds ub etc the same will happens, im not a big fan of these perks but who will ever play without them when the amount of tunneling killers out there is insane? In my opinion they should fix camping and tunneling in first place and then remove ds

Killers left after the ruin change because there was no gen compensation.

If DS gets nerfed, then it can become an actual anti tunnel and not used as an aggression tool. Killers won't be tunneling everyone just because the timer got nerfed by 15 seconds. Only the salty survivors who crutch on DS, UB, SG will be the ones who leave.

  • @MrsPiggyIsSoSneaky said:

Thanaphobia was one of the few perks along side with sloppy butcher to get survivors off of their objectives to buy time for the killer to find someone else while said survivors are healing so that games don't go so fast, but now its gonna be ######### (Come on, don't deny it, every perk that had to do with slowing survivors objectives down directly has been crap) and how was thanaphobia a lose-lose situation? And if anything why should it NOT be a lose-lose? Its a KILLER perk. With this new change to thana its doesn't even make it a lose-win, its now just a simple lose situation. Also this change disregards most of the definition of thanaphobia if not all.

Also, do they not realize how much this is gonna hurt Oni? Oni Relies on survivors being injured as long as possible

And now with the nerf to PGTW, becuase you know, 60 seconds is too much time, but 60 seconds for DS staying active is not (And no, "just don't tunnel" its not an vailed argument as I can hook x survivor that has ds, that survivor gets saved, I down another survivor, hook that one, and end up downing the survivor later on that was saved and has DS and not realize it and get hit with it because there was like probably 5 seconds left on it)

Curel limites is another example that BHVR listens too much to the survivor side of the community as they changed it to 24m not because THEY were afraid, but because the survivor community were afraid and now seeing as its not a problems after 373848282 years they gave it the buff it needed and now the perk is back to the way it should have been

Thank you for coming to my ted talk, oh and also

This is just straight up a lie. *Cough* GhostFace *Cough*

Not dead, but the pop nerf is completely unnecessary.

Thana might actually be better after the update.

  • Hopefully there's some more, but I'm pretty sure though that they put all of the major ones in the update.

For me it is either super baby survivors dying in like 10 seconds because they don't even know how to drop pallets or people with borrowed time, iron will, dead hard, adrenalin, unbreakabill etc etc. with insta heal medkits and keys. Then 4 gens pop in like 3 mins. It has become just annoying and frustrating to play killer because there is so many things that has zero counter.

Like I am chasing dude for over a min and finally about to get him. Hit E then it makes it so he can get chased another 1 minute lets say I commit because 1 minute chase is already 3 gen pop. He uses his borrowed time medkit here we go again. What has this game become ? I can't play killer at all because of this bullshitery.

Watching people with 5k hours on game mega ultra killer mains etc even they fail against these teams EVEN though they make everything perfectly right. They gotta play the best killers just to have a CHANCE now these days.

I am waiting for the day where maybe any killer other than 5k hour streamers able to have fun wait a minute I just remembered even though they get 4kills they always complain how stressful and frustrating the game was. I don't even care about kills anymore just playing the game to get a hit has become frustrating because of all these perks and items that has zero counter. And of course some loops are just incredible that u have no other chance then hold W.

Deathslinger finally feels fun to play so I'm having quite a bit of fun.

  • If you dead hard for distance you reach a window or pallet whereas you normally wouldn't of.

This is the part I don't like about dead hard honestly.

On it's own, it's a fine perk. The problem is that it completely hardcounters stealth killers more than anything in the game counters anything else - and Pig/Ghost/Wraith aren't that strong to begin with.

Meh, I don't even think the perk is fine. It could really use with a range reduction and maybe an effect nerf so it only applies bonus speed to generators.

Idk, I just don't think you should have an effect that strong with such a common and easy to achieve condition.

    Nerf Nurse / Spirit / Hag / Spirit / Freddy / PH

    a trade i would always make :D

    no.

  • Saying crutch is just another way of saying second chance, however, there are situations where survivors heavily rely on perks to win which 100% validates them being called a crutch. Survivors do quite often do plays they couldn't due to a perk they have which is fine.

What isn't fine is not getting punished for a bad play because you can hit a skill check or hold down the recovery button.

Survivor perks like DS aren't fully a crutch as they have uses that are quite validated (such as countering tunneling), but when you start using it to hook bomb or get gen progress it becomes a crutch.

  • All the arguments about deathslinger boils down to whether you think a 50/50 is counterplay or not. I think survivors should actually have a chance to be downed so I'm fine with the 50/50.

Some people will say a good deathslinger wont miss but I can tell you from a slinger main standpoint that it is total BS and there is no situation where a slinger can hit EVERY shot.

If survivors have DS during Endgame you already failed. If the survivors make it to end game, PLURAL, you've failed.

It's like watching a meteor strike your town and complaining to your nail salon that you didn't get the right color on your fake, pressed on nails.

If you truly have "failed", the game would end right there and then, but it doesn't, and some perks are built around endgame.

Survivor gets unhooked, you down them, you can't go for unhooker because of hit movement speed. The dude crawls/runs out due to DS.

But why should it remain the same? I can't get my free tunnel, I can't be rewarded for playing scummy, I can't get my free hook after camping the hook like an dummy and act like I'm doing nothing wrong.

DS should change because I'm tired of camping the hook and getting DS'sed then bitching about it on the forums.

Bruh calm TF down. We don't want to tunnel people out, we just want to not be hit by DS in situations where we shouldn't be getting hit by DS.

You shouldn't be able to hook bomb with DS, shouldn't work while on gens, shouldn't work in endgame etc.

slugging is almost mandatory against comp teams, saying dont slug is like saying throw the game

THIS is what people need to understand.

Hell, slugging isn't even that good. You need to tunnel or camp against good squads (of course doing it effectively).

  • @BigTimeGamer said:

Cowshed, Ormond, Haddonfield, Midwich, are the absolute worst maps in the game for varying reasons.

While I could understand why the latter 2 cant be changed easily, ormond and cowshed have no excuse, both sides know they are a nightmare for any killer, having super safe, unmindgame-able loops chained around the entire map, its horrible and it blows my mind they have gone unchanged this long

I know there are other bad maps, but these take the cake

Well they are slightly adjusting maps that they update. That's not very promising though because they managed to make badham even more survivor sided.

If you look on the updated maps, pallet loops have been changed and walls have been added in. Hopefully they do more to the more disgraceful maps.

Wanting any survivor perk nerfed screams "I am a very bad killer"

No survivor perk comes close to BBQ usage. Double bloodpoints + wallhack

Whispers totally guarantees a kill in the endgame. DS or UB doesn't come close to this level of power.

Did you just say whisperes - a tracking perk that's only useful endgame and early game - is better than 60 seconds of invincibility, up to 2 mins across all survivors? AND slug prevention?

    Bruh. How.

  • @RizeAki said:

Doubt it devs have said no matter how people whine deathslinger is in a good place

Ehh where did they say this?

  • Unfortunately until DS and UB are nerfed the meta will never change. The devs still have the mindset that second chances on the survivor side are healthy for the game. Yea desperate measures isn't meta but it shows that they're fine with adding more second chances/perks that help when survivors are screwing up.

So for the rest of the games life its going to (most likely) be:

    • Exhaustion perk (preferably DH)
    • DS
    • UB
    • BT, Camaraderie, IW, SG, Adrenaline.

Imma be fully honest though I absolutely HATE the ruin + undying meta now. Id much rather have corrupt + pop be "the meta build" because at least that didn't rely on luck from both sides.

  • I have a deep feeling in me that deathslinger is going to get a small nerf. But that's probably my paranoia.

I'd probably place my bets on PH or huntress.

  • Almost this entire thread is pointless because scott specified that there is counters to deathslinger, it's just that in his opinion it's not fun counters (and there is counters).

I find him fun to verse much like others might.

You shouldn't advocate for a killer to be changed just because YOU find them unfun, unless the killer is objectively broken (like old legion who truly had no counters) there's really not much reason for him to be changed.

Especially because if you nerf his ADS he becomes clown tier.

Also, the amount of actual people in this thread only considering the survivors fun and not the killers at all is astonishing. Imagine if someone nerfed one of your mains into the ground? How would you take that? Especially because the reason he's being nerfed is because survivors "found it unfun".

    Lmao what a joke.

  • Honestly, I kinda agree.

The amount of proxy camping hags ive had is unreal.

    Fastest way to do this?

You're probably not that bad, it's your teammates being trash by not understanding the difference between a mistake and a throw.

Watching dbd streams and YTers is a good way to get back into the game id say.

  • @MegHasCuteFeet said:

To be fair every perk was limited to 2 per team.

Without that rule though I know for a fact all 4 players would run DS guaranteed. Probably with 4 UB as well.

  • That's just unfortunately the state of the game, tunneling/camping someone out early is the most efficent strat.

Until 12 hooking becomes more viable, good killers are going to tunnel against good people. Just look at the BotB matches, where even Otz hard camped someone out because he knew it was the best play.

He's not toxic, but he uses alot of dirty tactics, because they're entertaining, but his playstyle and people that emulate him make life miserable for killer.

He is toxic, but he's self aware that he is toxic and understands what he's doing is purely for the viewers. If I had a chance to get like 500 more viewers on a twitch stream you know id be doing it.

The people who are the real issue are the people who don't understand that they're being toxic and are not self aware. 100% people can name at least one streamer who does this, I can name multiple.

His old add ons were busted and his overheat mechanic is very generous and barely comes into play.

It doesn't really come into play, but it's definitely a restriction on how much he can use his power. Good billies will likely never overheat yes, but will say to themselves "oh i shouldn't chainsaw here because i'll overheat", it's hard to put into words.

Plus watching battleguy has really made me aware of how this didn't fix the bland, boring billies who only backrev. Instead it hurt actual good players who knew curving, etc.

It was just a pointless change IMO, and it's pretty sad to see barely any billy now in pubs.

Is this a bug or is this going to be the way his dreamworld works now, because it gives me an actual headache as things are now.

Ngl I have the most issue with how dark it is on reworked maps, makes it impossible to see people wearing prestige gear.

Can’t stop moaning can you people. One thing gets fixed then straight to the next. What about the killer sided maps? What’s that? You don’t care about those ones do you.

As soon as you get your way and survivors are all dead in 5mins or less you’ll be back here crying about queue times as they all stop playing

The problem is that there's no directly killer sided maps. There's balanced maps like coal tower, wreckers yard etc, but no where near the extremes like ormond.

Indoor maps have skewed kill rates due to potato survivors, in general kill rates shouldn't even be looked at unless its above 80% or below 20% (at the extremes).

If anyone has had the pleasure of having a good squad on lerys, hawkins, midwich etc, then they know that they are absolutely not killer sided.

EDIT: wait i just got baited didn't I? oh well.

The House of Pain has lost one Pallet as well. I mean, sure, this is gonna be ignored, since it does not feed the narrative, but its gone.

Also, the Breakable Wall is RNG, it can either block the Door on the back next to the Window (I dont know if it can be closed as well) OR it can block the door when running back into the House (to the Garage), meaning, this would be a breakable Wall no Killer ever wants to break.

Edited it, I completely forgot about that pallet. Unfortunately house of pain is still horrible to play against.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

Personally I'd be entirely for making his POTD significantly easier and more rewarding to hit, as well as having it cause torment, as a tradeoff to losing the spam of his ROJ. Hitting really fun POTD shots is what makes him so fun to me, so I hope they can keep that aspect of his kit (and fix how it works vertically because that's just pissy).

In terms of cages, I'm not entirely sure what they can do except make the spawn random, make sure he isn't notified of the location of someone when they're saved from a cage, and anyone in a cage can't have their auras revealed. This'd stop the pretty hardcore tunneling that many PH players like to do (hook to cage to hook).

Pyramid Head main, but I'm very bad in terms of thinking of game balance suggestions so apologies.

Id actually like that, if his Rites was much easier to use and get a hit off of so he doesn't have to bait as much. Similar to a short range huntress that goes through walls.

All I want personally is for him to still be at least top 5 worthy. I like having him very strong.

  • @BananaBlooD95 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1614954#Comment_1614954

PH can't force you to walk into his goo. Want to use his Rites of Judgement and Torment someone? Gotta add 1-2 more loops just to place that goo because you go at 92% movement speed.

Those killer you listed are strong because you can't just mindlessly loop them and you got to think how to loop them which survivor aren't used to because running regular M1 killer is the same.

You can literally just walk through the pallet at the loop with rites and at max it will only be looped 1 more time if not 0 due to your ranged attack. Other than that its get tormented or give him a free hit.

Them killers are strong because they create guessing situations for the survivors that they will eventually lose, similar to a TL wall.

  • @BananaBlooD95 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1614835#Comment_1614835

Unless you run into the goo on purpose you won't get tormented and thus he won't be able to cage you. At best I've seen 3-4cages in a single match at worst 1 or 2. And going for cage leave all other survivor free to do gen and you can also bodyblock if he's trying to tunnel.

"But billy isn't, against good squads its hard to actually get downs," Literally all killer will struggle if they face a strong squad what is that low level argument?

A good pyramid will get you tormented if he needs to, plus you only need about 4 cages to delete everyones DS and most of the time you'll only need to avoid DS about 1 or 2 times a match. Going for cages leaves survivors open yea, but only 2 people are on gens, 1 saved and the other is being tunneled. If you get that person out of the match early you've won the game already.

Literally all killer will struggle if they face a strong squad

You wonder why Spirit and Nurse are the 2 best killers? and people always complain about Doc, PH, Slinger? They're the only people who can get downs against good survivors consistently. Some better than others.

So, the Q&A was yesterday. What did you guys/gals think about the answer we got?

    @Nobsyde @bm33 @Ryuzaki @JPLongstreet @Pulsar

I got the feeling that they are just hoping the issues to fix themselves as they upgrade the graphics. But we didn't get any answer to the problems with killer powers (doc, demo), status effects or the quite new maps with most problems (lery's, hawkings). All in all they answered very shortly to the question and didn't go into much detail.

How has the FPS been for you after the patch?

I have only played survivor but there's been the same problems with stutters and fps drops.

Edit. Also interested to hear what @SnakeSound222 @The__High_Ground @MrsPiggyIsSoSneaky think.

Ive personally found literally no difference in frames tbh. However the reworked maps have felt a tiny bit smoother, but I haven't had time to test them properly yet. Lerys, midwich etc still trash.

Apparently PH and blight are quite bad on frames coming from my friend.

Nurse, Spirit, Freddy, Hag, Billy, Oni, & to some extent Huntress are still considered better than PH. The devs now steer heavily away from one-sided nerfs, unless it was broken to begin with like with insta-medkits. Also doesn't Freddy counters BT when a survivor is asleep?

    @BananaBlooD95 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1614708#Comment_1614708

3rd best? Spirit, Nightmare and Nurse are above him in my opinion. Billy and Oni both have more mobility and insta down so I'd also place them above but that's debatable. Hag and Huntress are also at the top. Don't get me wrong, he's strong but not too strong. Also it's not that hard to avoid getting afflicted by torment, he can't see the cage and cage spawn at the opposite side of the map so he's gonna waste lot of time trying to tunnel.

Oh damn I though most people thought he was the third best. His ability to delete DS and an incredibly powerful chase power goes hand in hand together and allows you to beat some very good teams if you're good enough.

I could sorta see how hag could be better. But billy isn't, against good squads its hard to actually get downs, Oni most certainly isn't as his early game screws him over and his ability can be countered by the survivors playing smart, and Freddy certainly isn't as his early game isn't that good and snares don't down quick enough to keep up with gens. Yea you can counter BT but that doesn't mean anything when DS exists.

Nurse and spirit are certainly better though.

  • @CornHub said:

I believe since PH isn't nurse tier levels of good, he won't be butchered. I understand survivors don't like the m1/m2 switch, but come on how often are you running straight to a pallet :/. I'm hoping they balance his add-ons instead of his power tbh.

He is pretty known to be the 3rd best killer. So a big nerf wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility. His add ons I find don't do much other than range, he's still 3rd best even without add ons.

Plus he counters survivor crutches, and we all know how the devs respond to something that effects the survivor perk meta.

  • @wownicedeadhard said:

I don't know if he's the worst but his definitely one of the worst, and its not even his power (mostly) its how the maps are made; 80% of the time you get stuck on some random object. I've played around 8 hours of him 5 on PC and 3 on PS4 and honestly how did they expect console players to aim with him, they def need to add a sensitivity option on him. Also can y'all please keep the token mechanic constant? When Bubba uses a token the entire meter goes down and it has to recharge all the way to get a token back, but with Blight each section on the meter is a token, like what. anyway yeah he has compound 21 but hes still really bad. I see two solutions either they give him a rework or the fix all the map hitboxes.

You should watch tru3 play him for reals. He's a pretty good killer overall but for some reason when it comes to blight he's really good with him. Like super good. Watching him has already made me realise that hes better than I thought.

  • I'm putting this comment here when Undying gets nerfed and this thread is likely bumped.

See you in 6 months! :)

  • @BitingSea said:

Survivors now have to go on a Scooby Doo chase to take down Ruin, might actually run these two instead of Pop on high mobility killers, sniper doc as well could make things crumble. It overall just seems EXTREMELY strong and if the devs nerf this and not OoO or DS + Unbreakable then I'm never letting go of pop

Unfortunately Undying + Ruin doesn't guarantee a win 99% of games if you're good. Unlike DS + UB does if you have a 4 man sweaty SWF.

I know already that Undying is getting nerfed in the hotfix. Too many people have complained about it and it's difficult to test perk builds like that to see if they're actually busted. Likely hood is that they'll follow the crowd and nerf it.

  • If everyone was running the same "Best" build all you'd see is DH, DS, UB, Iron will. Counters pretty much all the good killers.

I understand you're view on that build but id trade self care with DS.

  • You'll come to find that this dude is actually pretty good (from what ive seen), id put him probably just below huntress due to his mobility. Once it comes to that level of viability i'm personally fine with quite high skill caps.

Also if you've been on the forums recently you'll know the sudden overflow of "unfun" killer threads (unfun in quotations because almost all of them are survivors riding the bandwagon to get a killer nerfed) including deathslinger, PH and Spirit. So the chances of getting a power even remotely similar to them in terms of design and strength is unlikely.

The issue with that statement is, that doesn't happen. I've got more hours in this game than most (over 4k hours now), and tunneling *isn't that common*, and a lot of what people call tunneling is just them doing stupid ######### and getting punished for it. Like safe unhooks, or BT body blocks etc.

The narrative of "tunneling is so common hur durrrr" is horse #########. What isn't horse ######### is those who rely on DS are usually the first ones to die regardless.

As much as I want DS nerfed solo survivors do need it to make up for teammates not running BT. Matchmaking isn't good right now and solos need that safety net unless everyone in that match is a good survivor, however you can't guarantee that.

If it was just slightly nerfed id be fine.
