So to be clear, Ignore the position of the killer in the picture, now instead imagine he is coming at me from inside the killer shack. I know I can walk up and drop the pallet on him from the 0-4 positions. I do this all the time walking, usually from the 1 position. But you are saying the game is designed so I can not run up and drop the pallet at 0,1,or 2; that I actually need to run past the pallet until I am on the same side as the killer at the 3 or 4 position? So pallets do operate differently based off of if you are running or walking?

Oh you mean when the killer is at the pallet?

In that case you need to stop running yes, if you run to the 0 position and you are still in the running animation, you won't be able to drop the pallet. That is normal.

  • They removed pallet vacuum ages ago, you only being able to drop the pallet at the 3 or 4 position while running is normal and has been normal for ages.

For walking or crouching, it vacuums you to the closest side of the pallet.

    Not lag :L

  • Dead hard and Unbreakable? Sure.

BT and DS? nah. The game would become a camp tunnel fest. DS needs changes, but it's actually a well designed perk at it's core.

  • It was probably due to it's insane synergy with kindered. Seeing the killers aura within 32m of a hook is pretty absurd ngl.

Wouldn't of been bad to test it though on the PTB.

  • Damn soooo many people are complaining about DS. Tons of threads on the forums about it.

Maybe, if the perk was actually changed to be balanced there wouldn't be so god damn many.

    Take the hint BHVR.

  • Ive never understood your "it can only be used once" argument.

Old MoM could only be used once, yet it was the most overpowered perk to be introduced into this game.

Assuming you get hit by DS, you lose a hook and you need to waste even more time downing them again, that is 30 seconds, at a bare minimum, wasted. Even more if your survivor knows how to loop.

Even if that is only a one time use, that is a GAMECHANGING effect especially against good players. You are so strained on time that having a chase a bit too long can almost make you lose. Any group of people, solo or not, who are good on gens will beat you if you eat more than 2 DS and that's a fact. That's a minute of wasted time and 2 hooks taken away from you.

We are not gonna balance around boosted pub potatoes when the MM is as broken as it is now. We look at games where the survivors are actually good and look at how strong of an effect DS has in them games and we want to balance the game accordingly/

Along with this, all of your counter arguments have some flaws:

“You can’t just eat DS. That’s not a counter!” But I do, and it works almost all the time.

Not a counter and it doesn't work, you just wasted a chase and a potential hook. The people you do this against are potatoes, and if you did it against people who know how to get on gens, you would lose.

You also can't justify an entire argument on your own experience as everyone has different pub matches. Some people are unlucky and get super good people often, others get babys often. Your experience may as well be randomised, as most other people who try the "eat DS early strat" in pubs, including me, fail because it really isn't viable against good people. Not saying I get good people all the time, but when I do eating DS early isn't viable.

I know you acknowledged that it doesn't work for some people, but you should acknowledge the cases where eating DS doesn't work no matter who is playing the killer. EG, against good players.

”But then it was a wasted chase.” I just got rid of a (overrated) tool from the survivors kit before/around mid game. I don’t feel like I wasted my time at all.

“But you lose so much pressure.” Except in rare instances, I ignore who just stunned me and I immediately return to spreading pressure to the other survivors to the best of my ability. I don’t want to give them TOO MUCH free time.

You did waste a chase, which can be gamechanging depending on how it was used. If it was used in an aggressive way like hook bombing, you lost a lot of pressure. If it was used by someone getting farmed without BT then you only had a few seconds of chase, so it's not really bad as you have another survivor to chase.

The issue is with actual good people, they will use it to hook bomb or get generator progress, which - if you pick up at that time - is a lot of wasted time.

More importantly, you shouldn't be getting hit by the perk in the first place as you ain't tunnelling. I don't want no "the devs haven't said it's an anti tunnel perk!".

Well the loops and structures on autoheaven are really low so it would be impossible to play against them.

Maybe if they made the structures taller.

They were made taller than before wdym. Quite a few of them actually have tall walls now.

Trying to shoot over a tire makes you hit thin air that shouldn't have collision, that should be fixed.

  • They are listening, they actually like working on the game despite what some people in the community tells you.

Ask yourself this - why has something like OoO not been changed? Is it because SWF makes the game the most money? Hmmmmmmmm.

But to debunk the "they don't care about their game" claim, they do care, and I'm almost 100% confident on that. Sometimes it can be questionable though cough twins release

  • Every time I see a Ruin Undying post someone always has to shout "WHAT ABOUT DS UB YOU SURVIVOR MAINWQEGSAYI=EGYBS"

Hey, did you know that DS UB is ALSO an issue? Yea, crazy concept that both Ruin Undying and DS UB are issues, and just because we complain about one of the combos, doesn't mean that we think the other one is ok.

  • NOED undying is, and always will be, a spicy combo. Massively underrated unless you have a squad who only do totems.

@Almo please, change your opinion about Object of Obsession. This perk might be fun for Survivors, but it ruins experience for players on the other side, If you play a Killer with small terror radius, this perk makes you feel naked and helpless.

Just ignore the person with Object 4head

    /s

  • image.png

Stole this off twitter. I would have the gen Icon to the left of the key like it is currently.

Your version is still a bit too spread out.

  • Ruin Undying was changed but DS Unbreakable wasn't.

I thought they would have logic to at least address the biggest plague to this games balance when addressing the other side but ig not. Oh well.

  • Looks is pretty good, terror radius theme is actually terrifying for some reason, good chase theme, pretty good cosmetics.

Gameplay wise however, they aren't too badly designed. Sure, having 2 people able to camp and patrol gens is unfortunately forced when you make a killer like twins.

The badly designed part is the numbers, why does victor move at sprint burst speed and why does it take ages to switch to charolette.

  • Here's my way to spot SWF pretty consistently:

Either very different characters or very similar characters is what SWFs usually run.

Mainly female and 1 male character.

All cross play or all on the platform you're on (can be less assuming a 2 or 3 man)

Assuming 2 or more players are playing the same character (such as dwight), their animations will be synchronised (not consistent though).

    Quickswitchers are a massive giveaway.

People with DBD related names usually play in SWF more often, especially console players. Same goes to TTVs.

All characters dress up as though they're good.

If they're a meme SWF you should be able to see that instantly.

Most if not all SWFs Ive met follow at least one of these patterns, leading me to be prepared whenever I get into a game. Seeing what types of outfits and names SWFs run should give you a good idea of when you're versing one. I'm not gonna load into a match and start tunnelling at 5 gens because I think 2 baby megs and 2 baby claudettes are SWF.

Overtime when you verse many SWF you can tell from their outfits alone whether they're a SWF. Well, at least I can. IDK about other people.

  • Well they absolutely butchered autohavens hitboxes, so even if he did come back he would have to move to a different map :(

  • Some stats are fine - pickrate stats show which killers aren't very fun to play or might be a bit too weak. Plague - a mid tier killer - has the lowest pickrate because her power is almost entirely in the survivors control and feels very janky to use. That's simple and not many factors effect it.

Other stats however like killrate, are not fine due to how many factors effect it. Freddy is a great example, he isn't the strongest killer, he's just super easy to play.

Why the devs look at killrate like its a good representation of how strong a killer is (when its not) is beyond me.

    Get lucky or lose

what does this remind me of

oh right most survivor second chance perks which turn the entire game around

hope that survivor didn't have unbreakable when you slug them

hope that survivor that just made a mistake doesn't have dead hard to erase their mistake or dead hard for distance to a pallet

hope that survivor doesn't have ds when you are in a pinch and need to tunnel them to get back into a game winning position

and yet survivors even with all 3 of these perks 24/7 will complain that a killer has ruin undying while abusing their own broken things

moral is games broke and perks are a bandaid fix both for the game and to counter each other

also debatably ruin undying started weaker and got stronger as more survivors got lazy about taking 14 seconds to cleanse a totem they passed by

    just saying

Yea I hate DS UB DH too, just look at my comment history.

However, I will point out issues on both sides. Yes, DS is broken, yes, Unbreakable is broken. But also ruin undying is also broken. Just because it's on the killer side doesn't make it justified to be in the game.

There was a flood of DS posts a while ago, so the devs must know it's an issue unless they blocked the criticism on the perk because swf is the moneymakers.

I highly, HIGHLY doubt though that they'll have the balls to nerf Ruin Undying and not touch DS UB, if that's what your worried about.

Killers need slowdown if they want to play nice, much as if survivor meta is nerfed they will just pick up the next best thing, killers will do the same with pop + corrupt which is about the same amount of slowdown but it can't be countered

people complain that something just as strong can be countered

    wrap your head around that

it also gets extra smashed by coordinated play so I don't know why tournaments would ban it

People who run ruin undying (most of them) don't play nice, they play to win which is why they're running the build in the first place as it is currently the best killer combo. I have seen a lot of games where people treat it like a tournament, tunnelling someone out, camping to second stage, etc. Now, I really don't care that they do that, I'm not afraid to say that I tunnel a lot when it comes to putting pressure on the map, but when they combine tunnelling with ruin undying, and when you're against a bunch of baby solos, that's when I have a problem.

Also, pop corrupt is much weaker than ruin undying. Sure it's still strong, but undying takes ruin to another league. Pop can be countered by tag teaming gens or simply not going down in the first place which both are not hard to do, and while corrupt doesn't have a counter, it's effect isn't strong enough to deserve it.

Also, I cannot believe you haven't understood this:

Cleansing totems makes you useless for a good chunk of the game, possibly even more on maps like lerys and midwich. Not only that but the killer gets aura reading on you on even dull totems so he knows what you're doing. Saying to do that to counter ruin undying is just as absurd as saying to "chase someone else" to counter DS UB. It's completely littered with flaws.

Just as a point, play against a good nurse or spirit who uses ruin undying and just observe how you doing totems screws your team over.

It's literally just "get lucky or lose".

  • No, that really isn't the gameplay loop, finding 5 totems around killers makes you a useless teammate, and may as well make it a 3v1 for the first few minutes of the game. Plus it takes literally no skill to use, just walk over to a generator and get an incredibly strong regression effect.

There's a reason it's mainly banned in tournaments and why everyone going on a win streak uses it. Cleansing totems isn't a very good counter and wastes too much of a survivors time.

It's kinda like waiting 60 seconds for a DS. Sure, wasting 60 seconds of your time is technically a counter, but your pretty much losing the game doing so.

  • Your concept is a bit overly complicated for what needs to happen to DS and Unbreakable doesn't fix the main issue with the perks.

For DS, Activates for 30 seconds after a unhook, goes down 2x slower in a chase or while slugged.

For UB, Increase recovery speed, you must pick someone up from the ground if you want to pick yourself up.

For Undying, protects only 1 totem a match and is no longer a totem/hex perk, make the aura reading apply to dull totems only.

No killer in KMS on hook because I'm not a child who ruins other peoples experiences.

Ive never understood how people think huntress and demo are fun to verse, getting hit by something that I clearly didn't get hit by is the worst and demos super zoning is annoying asf. At least you can dodge slingers bullet.

  • Huntress or Billy

    Indoor maps

    Ruin Undying

  • Bit off topic but seen as though we have had a lackluster halloween "event" and just some daily rewards and some codes for christmas, the next event better be good (pretty sure its the lunar event if I'm not mistaken).

  • Somebody seeing 3 baby megs in the lobby and STILL feeling the urge to run ruin undying and tunnel at 5 gens.

If a killer wants to camp they will and they aren't gonna give two ######### about gens that's the truth, you can spew this crap all day but just because you rush gens doesn't mean they will stop camping

A situation that happens to me a lot that I camp in: If a survivor is nearing death or second stage I will camp unless everyone is healthy or the situation makes me do something else.

Camping isn't just for BM, you can camp in strategic ways that punishes survivors and progresses your objective.

  • @MadLordJack said:

Good for you. Doesn't change the fact that both of those killers are very, very strong and have little counterplay outside of just slamming generators, which is not something your average team even wants to play like, let alone has the capacity to.

Hag's kinda understandable, but she still has counters such as running through her web while she's carrying someone, setting a trap off at the edge and running away etc.

But Freddy? Being awake makes him an M1 killer, and while asleep pre dropping and playing BL 50/50s are all counters. Plus using god windows, W key gaming and using god pallets as well.

  • Sure, you can still win against BAD people, yea.

Come up against a group of just good solos or people who live by the line "gens before friends" and matches become incredibly hard to win if not impossible to win especially if you don't get someone out early.

Trust me, I strive to find the best builds with the least amount of regression perks possible, while having constant chases is fun, losing most games against good people with still horrible map design isn't.

  • @dezzmont said:

The current design trend they seem to be going for are 'unlinked' strong tiles. So you have good tiles all over the map, but deadzones between them.

This forces the survivors to end their loop on a given tile with a strong breakaway, like a won 50/50, to get the distance needed to get to the next tile, without eating a hit.

Most of the worst maps in DBD for killer are the worst maps not because of the NUMBER of resources, but their placement clusters them, as zones sorta scale exponentially: A 2 window jungle gym on its own is strong, but a 4 window jungle gym is FAR more than twice as powerful, and if the gyms are too close to each other that is what it effectively becomes.

This is why Ormond still feels like a neutral map despite not having many of its stronger loops nerfed too badly: Simply by removing some along the sides and concentrating them into 'corners' with a central building that has strong transitional tools but not a strong loop, you still have plenty of resources for the survivors to win, but now they have to actually win mindgames at loops to extend chases because simply knowing how to loop isn't enough anymore. Looping is a non-skill based activity, especially around low walls, that just lasts as long as it lasts if you know the loop, while being forced to master transitions IS a skill based activity and good killers will do better on the transitions than bad ones.

Fractured cowshed is the best example of how chained tiles can make you lose a game.

  • No, until 12 hooking becomes viable.

  • Him and plague are the 2 that need it most. I want to stop running the P3 on him for something else but everything is either a recolour or looks ugly.

  • If spirit really took no skill you would see more good spirits, which I never see. I've bumped into a few sweaty spirits but not many.

I've seen more good nurse players than spirit players tbh.

  • Their real only point is to promote using keys and basement builds, so they ain't even healthy as they promote some of the more unhealthy things in the game.

I would have to agree that they're just added for BW clutter.

  • Real talk: Did you just get your ass whopped by a really good twins player? Which then made you make this post?

  • Nurse is strong still, most certainly the best killer. Unfun to play though.

Billy, eh, he's like at the bottom of top tier now. I personally think he's still better than Freddy but worse than Slinger. Still incredibly janky and unfun to play especially if you're new to billy (like me).

  • @deadbyhitbox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1829576#Comment_1829576

You can't dodge or react to a shot. A human can't react fast enough to flat out dodge a shot from a Slinger. The only thing you can do is hope the Slinger misses. And yes, you can make your odds better of him missing and force yourself into better positions, but he isn't like Huntress where she has a punishment for holding a hatchet. He can zone by just existing and can ads spam to force distance loss or get speared. I've put an ungodly amount of hours into him, and there isn't much a survivor can do against a Slinger who is good.

Being able to dodge a shot doesn't matter with reaction times, it matters on what you can do in that situation. If you're vaulting a window in front of him or going down a narrow corridor like a dum dum, you can't dodge the shot. Out in the open, you can, you just need to know when he'll shoot. You can strafe by the time the spear leaves his gun and comes to your location unless you're literally in lunge range.

In fact in my eyes as long as you predict correctly, almost every single shot you can make is dodgeable, there's just so many shots you can take it comes down to taking a guess and not wanting to zone yourself. Just because there's no warning, doesn't mean you shouldn't dodge.

Plus, there is a lot a good survivor can do against a good slinger. Mainly having good positioning and using good buildings.

  • @Dabihwow said:

I personally thought it'd be easy to play slinger with a controller, is it that bad?

It's really not as bad as people say it is, sure the frames are ass but other than that controls are only slightly worse than a MnK. It's harder to hit vertical shots but horizontal shots are fine. I would assume it's the same for huntress as I've seen some dirty PS4 huntress mains.

Where you start having trouble is killers like nurse and blight, who require many quick flicks of the camera to do well with. Blight especially because these flicks need to be super accurate or you lose time in a chase.

  • Unfortunately not in a very fun way.

Use ruin undying corrupt unless you don't care about winning. The only perks right now that synergise well with twins is them 3 perks, other perks like pop, STBFL etc really aren't that good. Sloppy however is ok.

Despite what people say, slugging isn't a great strat unless you're against a bad team. Good teams who run meta and know how to cycle slugs wont get hurt by slugging. Try a more campy playstyle - slap victor or charolette near a hook and go patrol with the other.

Overall that wont matter if you're not good with victor, keep practicing with him and get better so you can get downs much more consistently and the methods I said above will make more sense.

  • I find Oppression Surveillance to be fun asf. Popression while still the better combo, don't really synergise due to opps long cooldown, you'll find yourself kicking gens with pop active and oppression on CD more often than you think.

  • uh actually nah, it was the stake out that carried you.

Smh trying to get head on nerfed, get better and learn what perks are truly OP, like stake out. >:(

  • Pyramid head. Borderline BS chase ability and can negate lots of survivor perks. Along with decent 3 gen potential and great tunnelling ability.

  • You act like people don't want a nerf to both sides. Both DS and Undying are problematic perks and should both be nerfed.

Plus, searching for totems makes you a useless teammate, which nobody wants, it's even worse with no perks. GL trying to find and cleanse Ruin Undying in under 3 minutes on maps like Lerys, Swamp, hell even macmillian. Keep in mind that ruin is working in the background while you're searching for the totems, so any gens you had progress on is now at 0 because ruin is a fair perk :)

(Btw, yes I have ran detectives hunch, no it is not effective when your killer is sweating like it's BOTB tournament and is playing spirit or any other good killer)

  • It matters how they put it.

I'm fine with anyone hating any killer, every killer can be annoying for one reason or another. I hate myers and pig, 2 of the most "fun" killers to verse by the communities standards.

Hell, if someone hates versing slinger, that's fine, as long as they don't spew out things that could easily be avoided such as the "hurr durr no counterplay" argument, that derives from them either ignoring clear counters or not being good at the game.

I think you should direct your post to the people who just say a killer is annoying to get them nerfed, not the people who genuinely find a killer annoying. Them people I do dislike. They can't come up with a good argument so just follow the bandwagon and say "egevqdhxc delet slinger bhver!!11!1".

But ya know, people have opinions on killers and that's fine, whether they find them annoying or fun. Not everyone is just trying to get a killer nerfed, if that was the case I would've made a "Why is the pig is so frustrating" in classical Sco... erm, me fashion.

    • Buff her base kit
    • Nerf her add ons (by a lot)
    • Giver her a phasing indicator

That's literally all you need to do. Not hearing grunts while phasing would make her incredibly unfun to play especially when people who know what they're doing and on maps with no grass.

Plus the secondary ability of moving at 115% while passive phasing just sounds kinda unnecessary and obnoxious to verse and use.

can you see through walls? you do realise that some of the gens especially on indoor maps have 0 vision of what is approaching ?

I love these comments of "it's easily countered by such and such perk" am I missing some secret game setting where we can determine which killer we are going against so we can plan our build ? or are you just assuming that people are psychic and picking the right perks for the right killers ?

If you can't see him he can't see you, meaning he can't shoot you and you can start running when you hear the TR.

  • Hopefully when DS UB gets nerfed as well. Both Ruin Undying and DS UB are pretty busted and unhealthy so I'll be happy seeing them go if they ever do.

  • No I haven't noticed anything weird, sometimes shots just do go through survivors but that's very rare and is usually just you shooting too far in front of them.

Don't know about that generator thing, I'll have to test that.

Death slinger with monitor is just broken especially on indoor maps /areas with no vision. You have 0 chance of escaping a shot if the killer isn't a potato 🤷‍♂️

Or you can use your eyes and see a 6ft tall cowboy man walking towards you with a gun.

Either that or use spine chill.
